1. Introduction to YouTube like Mr. Beast: Hello and welcome to the class. This is how to YouTube like Mr. Beast. Now, to be clear, I want to establish this. It's right in the title. This is information from Mr. B's. This isn't me teaching you how to become a more successful YouTuber. This is me curating as much information as I can about many sources, and mainly based on one of the most successful YouTubers, Mr. B's, and letting you know that information, because I have not grown a YouTube channel that big. This is all based on information as the saying goes straight from the horse's mouth. This is information I've curated and found about Mr. B's. I got on this a little bit because in general and very fascinated with YouTube, there's lots of content creators on here that I really like. And also I wanted to another stream of income on the side. And with this, I'm going to try to apply a lot of these strategies to Skillshare because I want things to be entertaining and upbeat and I want to retain things in Skillshare. I'm going to try to apply those here. This class is set up to teach you the methods that he has gone over. The credibility lies in his over 90 million subscribers, Not mine. With that said, one of the class. 2. Total Commitment: One thing I want as an absolute preface to this, when Mr. Beast went on Joe Rogan, his podcast, he has some really good questions as Joe Rogan often does. That's why he's as popular as he is. He has some good questions about starting out. And even when I'd also seem the interview where Casey nice that had interviewed Mr. Beast. He didn't go into the detail of his obsession the same way he did Mr. Beast. Absolutely obsessed. He made this his absolute passion almost to a fault. I mean, he admits that he was failing out of school and it was his one obsession. And Joe Rogan mentioned the 10 thousand hours principle that Malcolm Gladwell talks about in his book, Outliers. And he said he was even reading that book again, Jimmy didn't know much about that. I think he had just vaguely heard of, but I want this as a preface to this because he, part of his success is, was that he obsessed over this and he made it his life. Now, he's giving you more of a blueprint and that's those are the lessons I'm about to go over. Realized that he had just total commitment in this. You have to be able to push forward past frustrations and things like that. So he had one of the reasons why he is as big as he is, because he was obsessed. He made an inner circle of other YouTubers that we're growing as well. And they just obsessed about retention, watch time, viewer acquisition, thumbnails, length of videos. He obsessed about it. So it is a large part of what he does. So I want you to just know that going in that this might take more time than you realize, but the payoff obviously could be well-worth it on to the next lesson. 3. Thumbnail and Title Focus: One of the key things is, should be mostly obvious for anyone who's tried to look at improving their own YouTube channel is the thumbnail itself. There's an old phrase, don't judge a book by its cover. But when it comes down to it, if the cover doesn't grab you, how are you supposed to pick it up in the first place? And there's also the title. The title and the cover, like a YouTube video will be the title of the video and the cover being the thumbnail. In today's day and age, it will have to grab it. It has to be judged by that. And what most people that I've noticed explain Mr. obese, one of his strengths is that his title will look clickbait like, but then he delivers on the clickbait. He actually does because he fulfills on what he does and he does it quickly, which I'll go over later. But generally speaking, the cover has to be very bright. There's a lot of them that have words right on the picture. And you want to be careful not to put it in the bottom right where it normally shows the time of things. You have to be very cognizant of how it will look on both a computer and mobile phones. Since everyone does that, you want to keep your title extremely brief, probably 33 characters and this, he says several interviews. And also the concept itself needs to be very simple. He talks about this. He's like who's going to understand what this is? It has to be very simple. And a lot of times I think he said he would come up with several different titles and then test them with his friends. Which one is the most understandable, simple and short. So keeping that in mind, you might have the title on the image, might have to experiment. But also if you notice a lot of thumbnails have a picture of a person's face and normally with a extreme emotional reaction. Recently when I looked at a lot of his thumbnails is uploaded videos. A lot of times he looked like he was screaming in this picture. He just had a look of extreme energy. We're gonna go over the energy level later. But yeah, you need to have a lot of color, a lot of contrast. Now, there can also be a familiarity with, if you have consistently the same kind of look, you can start building brand if you do a little bit of consistency. And some of them are not. Another very successful YouTubers, mark rubber and a lot of his are very different. And it's good to test and change things out. But you will need this to be bright, energetic, simple concepts and to go forward that basically you want to pick the type of video that you would want to watch more than likely. On to the next lesson. 4. Deliver On Titles and Thumbnails: Okay, one of the two key things that the algorithm is looking for, at least for the moment before they changed it again, is click-through rate and class retention watch time. So the click-through rate is getting them to actually click on it. And as I said before, you want to keep your title very short, but you also have to keep it snappy and attention grabbing and possibly even a little shock value. Most of the titles you see on his channel, you're like really, maybe now couldn't be right. You want to try and get it, but also don't overextend. You have to be able to deliver on what you're offering. There are several themes that are frequently going viral and Mr. B's has perfected, okay, maybe not perfected, but he is really utilized using these themes and combining them to consistently go viral. Some of those themes are reaction videos, ones that are money-related, Challenge videos, pranks, drama, enlarge collaborations with other YouTubers. Now, if you don't have a lot of money obviously to start with, that could be a challenge. But early on, Jimmy would do these, these own challenges where he would count or say something a large amount of times. So large numbers in general. So before you have millions of subscribers and views to where you can get the ad revenue from that, you still need to do large numbers or are you can, you don't have to. These are all concepts to where you can pick apart and use. Some of them are more important, but this is all mainly reviewing Mr. Beast and his success. So once you get them to click on after your thumbnail is bright, and like I said before, I want to remind you of several things so you don't forget, you have to be careful the video. You may not want text in it, but you can just kind of experiment with that. But seeing people's faces react strongly, strong emotions, whether it'd be surprise, excitement, fear, dread, embarrassment, all of those. A extreme expression on your face will get lots of reactions and get people clicking on it. Now for the second part, the watch time here lately his views, his videos have a frenetic pace where they're just going fast and you can count how many times or next time you watch one of his videos, count how many times he's jumping back and forth or from different shots and he's keeping you engaged. However, there are breather moments where he has those reactions where someone might start crying after he gets, gives them so much money or it gives them a car and how you can just tell it to change their life. Now the other interesting thing is this. He's commented on his interview that sometimes people don't react well. They just, they just go in shock and their face blanks and he can't use it. So there have been times he's given people thousands of dollars and they don't react well at all. He knows it is a performance that is part of any he's willing to do that time and time again for the foot and she wants and I'm going to cover moreover, his mentality on that one probably in the next video as well. But you need to keep up the pace and then have breaks in it to where you can slow down. Slowdown moments. You have to be careful. They either need comic relief or they need to have a strong reaction of some kind and times, you can focus in on that, but you have to find a way to keep them involved and that is going to determine your duration. I want to make a small sidebar on this in reviewing people looking at why Mr. Beast is so successful, I've looked at a lot of different videos of people analyzing his tactics and things like that. Several of them obviously look at other YouTubers as well. And there's a YouTuber named dream who does a lot of Minecraft videos. His climb has been meteoric, it is grown and part of it is longer watch times than a lot of other people. He does manage to keep the tension because a lot of times I think one of the key things he does is has people hunt him down in Minecraft. He has his friends hunt him, which is other strong. So he keeps that thing and they're always on his tail. He's able to keep he's able to keep that pace going. But the other thing is about that is he's a excellent Minecraft or he does things on-screen that if you've ever played the game, you know, are extremely difficult. So I said that basically to reiterate the fact that you have to be able to keep them engaged during the watch time. Most of Mr. Beast videos around 20 minutes plus or minus and dream was able to get much longer views. So that's why his watch time is going to be a lot higher because his videos are closer to 40 minutes to an hour. But you have to keep in mind how long you can keep people's attention. Because if you're trying to get as much time as you can and you have a video that goes on for two hours. If you're not keeping them, if you can't have a concept that holds them to the end, you're not gonna get the watch time and your videos may get reviewed lower. So, Alright, Onto the next lesson. 5. Growth Mentality: Okay, in this video, I'm going to go over his Mr. BCE mentality. I talked about a little bit before that. He was obsessed with YouTube. I didn't see a lot of this until Joe Rogan podcast interview of him. But he did badly in school. He dropped out of college, and he had been obsessed with this. He found other people that were obsessed and collaborated with them to figure out what worked. Now thankfully, because a lot of YouTubers ever lay the groundwork and found out to some degree what goes viral, what people are interested in, what catches, and things like that. Some of the groundwork is laid already, so you don't exactly have to figure it out from scratch, but having that willingness to do whatever it takes or to be obsessed with reviewing scientifically all the aspects. Watch time click-through rate. If you haven't spent hours, two hours maybe thinking about what makes the perfect thumbnail you might want to review if you're up for doing things like Mr. Beast onto the main point, Jimmy is different in that he is always up till I guess somewhat recently re-invested almost all his profits. There's a lot of times that he showcases this where he'll give away money. And I think the bank episode where he gives away the money. And there's a heartfelt thing where a woman just tells me you guys are doing good work and he's starts crying and he's like, I'd rather not have money and see things like that. And that's one of the things he is rare and that his philanthropy, He's willing to re-invest a lot of that. He's not necessarily in it for the money. He's okay living like a pauper to do this. So think about that. Like it's more of a, your willingness to do this now. Because most people doing this, they would like the money to get by and everything. But for the most part, he would take what he needs to live and that's it. And even on Joe Rogan Podcast, he'd said again that basically he did try to have a few things, but apparently it got broken into and they stole a lot of things. So it kind of resettlement. He's a guy, I don't need those things. But the willingness to give everything or use everything to keep your growth going. And the thing is you can't just say, Okay, I'm giving away all the money that I got. I mean, it might work, but you need to keep innovating. He keeps trying new things, some things fail, but some things worked great. His squib game video is almost a masterclass. And the thing about it, you can think, oh, I don't have the money to do that. Not a lot of people do. But he started out saying Beauty Pie thousands of times and counting to a 100 thousand and things like that. And people would click on it and see how far he would get when comparing yourself and what you're willing to do to grow like Mr. Beast, you'll need to check your own willingness and your own commitment because there's a reason why he, he's been able to do this. I also want to go into one more thing that I think a lot of people that are analyzing Mr. Beast growth have maybe not acknowledged that. Not only is he being positive and that's how the most I've heard people talking about it. But there is a somewhat nature of giveaways or a lottery type theme to it. He gives away money regularly. Sometimes he has people do it for a challenge which makes it more entertaining. But there's that idea that you follow him or review by his things. I remember he had signed a ridiculous amount of sweatshirts that he was selling as his own merch, but every so often he would throw things in like a stack of cash. So ordering his merge became like a lottery thing. You might have gotten a stack of cash inside there. The other thing is also he talks about on some of his interviews that he's given away cars and things, but then some people couldn't pay the taxes on those cars. And he's like, Well, I can't really just give him a car and not let them pay the taxes. And again, the the tax money itself is a gift, so the taxes have to be taken into account. So sometimes not only is he giving them a car, he's paying their taxes and trying to do it in a way that is low taxes on them so they can actually keep the thing. There's a lot of off-screen things that he's just willing to do to protect his brand. So keep that in mind. You might want to make things philanthropic, but people are going to see through it if you're not genuine and he appears to be genuine. Onto the next lesson. 6. Energy Level and Attention: In this lesson, I want to talk about energy level. I've noticed on several popular YouTubers, I remember seeing a few videos of cutie pies and seeing that he's loud a lot. He's yelling, He's very expressive. Now, I understand that getting tension and yelling can be a way to get people's attention. But for me, I couldn't stand it. I was like, I can't watch this. If always doing is yelling. I mean, it's one thing to have someone yelling when something dramatic happens, but if it's all throughout the video, I was interests, that's me and it's obviously working for them. So one thing Mr. Beast does, He's definitely noticed this early videos. He's talking completely monotone, but if you notice in his new ones, he's louder and he does use energies and I wouldn't say he's yelling all the time. And a lot of times it's not that same feeling. He's being allowed an energetic and enthusiastic, and I think that is partly key. So now I mean, like I said before, there's a pacing thing. It may not be wise to yell all the time, but then again, it may. Some of my son watches some YouTubers that it seems like they're constantly yelling or just doing ridiculous things. And while it is mildly entertaining, it comes at a cost. I'm sure all of us have clicked on a video where someone's completely flat monotone. So you're going to have to find out what works best for you. I don't like yelling, but also, it looks like you can do that to some degree and get it. So I would try to moderate things and that Mr. B's does it in a way that is just feels like it's energetic and enthusiasm, not extreme reaction constantly. So this is something you'll want to review, but if there's no energy behind what you're doing, then you're probably not gonna get the same kind of watch time. So keep that in mind when you talk about your things. And also, I would say making sure you have a script or at least bullet points. I think bullet points are the sweet spot where you have topics you want to bring up and things to go to, Necessarily depending on how you're doing, if you're doing a screencast or not. And that's another thing, like I said about the thumbnails, seeing people's faces. This is going to be a lot more powerful than looking at a screen. So one thing you want to keep in mind, and with that, on the next lesson. 7. In Conclusion: Okay, I think phenomena couldn't close this class out. I may add to it later if I pick up some more things, obviously, he's still growing as channel to review. What we've learned is that, number one, you absolutely have to be committed. You have to be so enthusiastic about something that you're willing to work and work at it without results as a big part of success and a lot of different areas as I've read, you need to keep learning all the time. And innovating. Innovating is a big one because he doesn't do the same thing. Sometimes even twice, sometimes he does. You definitely want to take advantage of trends when you can. Trend Jack as it's called, but you want to innovate and trend. It's a balance. You have to be willing to work at it. And also remember that he had had 200 thousand subscribers when they only had an iPhone. So don't get hung up on equipment or things of that. If this is your goal, if you want a youtube, be willing to fully commit and continually learn, study all aspects of it if you can get an inner circle of people, as Mr. B. Says, other maniacs that obsess over it. Sometimes a work-life balance that is out of balance for your goals, but take care of yourself, be healthy and keep committed, but continually learn and continue to grow. Like I said, I may add to this later, but for now, this is how YouTube like Mr. BCE, thank you so much for watching.
