1. Intro: Welcome to Grass for illustrators. I'm Romick, a Speaker Jones, a graphic designer illustrator based in Manchester. I love to create cute animal illustrations with goulash, and in this class I will show you how to paint a skewed head talk. You will also learn what makes things cute, how to prepare your workspace and you will receive an exclusive Cici. Pdf on how to mix Palace You will discover two different sketching methods and practice brushstrokes for painting. We will also learn how to layer colors and how to add details. A beautiful finished illustration. You can use these methods all kinds of animals and roll today to get instant access to self paced videos, feedback on progress, friends, classmates and more. See you soon. 2. Gouache 101: What is gouache and why is it great?: watch is basically opaque water coming. It's highly pigmented and can be used to pick all with a watery watchers like water. So what's so great about watch quick drying, vibrant colors? A nice, flat, chalky finish. Great for scanning your artwork offer mixed media. It reactivates of water even after years, which means if you have dry paint on your palate, you can just put a little bit off water and it's back and good to go. However, there's one type of washer doesn't allow this, and I'll talk about it in another video. It's great for adding details and for creating flat shapes that as a bonus point it can be really relaxing. So let's weaker washes up 1/4 cup. It's highly pigmented. Extremely birth time has vibrant colors, dries very quickly in front, has a chalking matte finish is good for other mediums, for example, like pencils can give you a high amount of detail. It's visible even on dark paper because it's opaque and it's water soluble and even reactivates. After this, I hope, does inspire to you in the next video I'll show you to seven things you need to get started and when it's best to use question 3. Gouache 101: Materials you need and when to use gouache: first, you will need paper. As a general rule, I would recommend high quality acid free watercolor paper means more than 200 grams per square meter. On the other hand, you can also use heavyweight sketchbook, paper or mixed media paper, but make sure it's heavy enough. Minimum 200 grams per square meter. Next, you will need paint. This is designing wash there three different types of glass, which I will talk about In another video. You can get painted tubes or in pounds. I personally prefer tubes, but this is really up to you. Next, you will need a brush I personally liked. It's very small. Number seven brush. I know numbers sometimes change from manufacturer to manufacturer, but this is a really good size if you draw smaller paintings, which I do for my illustrations. If you want to pay larger, take a lot of their natural and synthetic brushes, depending. If you want animal hair or not, you can choose either or natural hair usually lasts longer and can take more water. However, they also more expense. Next, it's good to have some sort of glass charges. This a glass cup and some water. It's also good to have a palate, but you don't need to use a regular palate. You can also just use a serum. Lastly, you need a pencil if you want to sketch, which is optional Good light at a reference, if you a reference to do drugs. So how do we know what we need? When is it best to you squash. You should use squash if you want clear shapes and lines and vibrant colors if you want to achieve a high amount of detail in new illustrations or paintings. If you would like to work on a dark surface if you prefer to work back and forth between lighter and darker shades and clashes, great if you want to scan in your work for future digital production, so I hope this was helpful. Now you notice seven things you need and also when it's best to use school rush in the next video, we'll talk about a sweet, most common challenges that begins face and also how to solve them 4. Gouache 101: The 3 most common mistakes beginners make: number one using paper for a project that it's not suitable for using unsuitable paper can actually ruin your painting from to start number two. Using unsuitable pain for a project. The actually three different types of squash, and it's really good to know which one to use for what project and number three, which I'm sure we're all guilty off. Sometimes in pick Shin's and patients convey Lee during your painting or create very difficult problems and the following videos, I will show you how to overcome these challenges paper paint and in patients. 5. Gouache 101: How to find the right paper: and the previous video. We talked about the three most common challenges that bigness face, and today I'll talk about paper and which questions to ask yourselves when you buy paper for your project. Have you ever encountered these problems with brush? Strokes are very. Streak in dry and you paint. Birth just seems to dry up all the time, depending on paper use. You can really make your life hard sometimes if it's not right paper for what you want to do. I have some questions that you can ask yourself when you buy paper. My first question would be, How much water do you want to use? Do you want to use squash in a very translucent way, like watercolors? Or do you want bold, nice, opaque shapes? If you just want to practice and you want to use quash or Pake, then I would recommend mixed media paper because it's very affordable. However, if you want to use a lot of water, definitely go for heavy watercolor paper. If you go anything below 200 grams, you will see the effect sex time. What size do you need? A four. It's great because you can just put it into a scammer and then continue using it for your illustration work are sending it to a friend. However, a four paper can be really expensive, so sometimes it's better to just buy an A three block and dead cut it down. So that's just the way to save some money off course, the other sizes of paper. If you want to paint something really large and definitely go for something heavier, you also need to think about transport and storage. Paper s best toward flood. Next question. Can this paper used for painting? If it's watercolor paper, it can definitely take a lot of water, however, definitely checked US thickness. If it's mixed media paper, there should be some sort of paintbrush symbol or an indication that they can be used for water media. Next question Is this paper acid free? If it is acid free, this paper it's less likely to discolor, and it keeps your painting looking good for much. And the last question to ask yourself this. What texture off paper So I need for my project. So they are generally two different kinds. There's hot press and corpus. Cold breasts can also be called rough. It has a textured surface. It can give you painting character. However, it could potentially create shadows when you scan it, but this doesn't have to be the case. Next. Hot press smooth paper as a very smooth surface. It's good for very detailed paintings and painting. Stuff need clean edges, and it's very easy to scan and digitize off course. There are also other paper surfaces, but I think the best thing is to really try out, You know, let's recap. We talked about common problems that are associated with paper. For example, streaky brushstrokes are that the paper soaks up the paint, which is most likely that the paper is not heavy enough or not suitable for the job. So we learned that we need to choose paper based on the project and for the more. I gave you a few questions that could mask when you buy paper, which I will just quickly go through again. What paper says during tennis paper used for painting this paper acid free? And finally, which paper texture do I need for my project? 6. Gouache 101: The 3 different types of gouache: there three different kinds of squash paint artist, Great gosh designer Go Wash and a critic wash. There is no best paint. You need to choose the paint that is suitable for what you want to use them for. Artist. Great Gosh, It's best if you want to create original artwork that is very resistant to fading into light designer squash. It's great for Phil administrations, which will be processed on a computer. It's less resistant to fading in the night, However, if you only want to create ministrations that will be posted on a computer anyways, and you don't need to keep the originals necessarily. Oh, you don't need to look amazing on Designer. What is a very good, affordable medium? And that's the one I use because I like to continue sculling my illustrations and then using them for my different projects of products so I don't need artists. Great bash for my own projects last days. Acrylic wash, Acrylic wash cannot be reactivated once it has to write, which is great. If you wanted to just say ass, it is so It's almost like a child between the critics and gosh, like I said again, there is no best option if you want artist great quash or designers squash or a critic, clash the penny. One what you want to achieve. You need to choose the right paint. However, I hope this little guy to help you to do so. So we have covered paper and paint, and next we'll talk about how to overcome impatient. 7. Gouache 101: Words on impatience: problem Number one. Your paint dries lighter or darker than you thought it would, and it messes up your painting. The solution to this is to make little practice strokes on paper that you actually want to paint on can be a scrap paper, but it should be the same kind of paper that you want to paint on because the paint will react differently to the paper and the paint dries differently so it can dry, darker or lighter and scored two testes first before you actually make a brushstroke to your registration. I'm guilty off not doing this, and I've messed up some paintings, but it's OK because you conover paint it. I'm just saying it really saves you some trouble. Number two in patients when it's getting to getting to ride pain, consistency seated too thin. Do you think our to dry the results splotchy, inconsistent or too watery brushstrokes. So here's my tip. Dip your brush first into the water to get delivered wet and then go into your paint and then test it on the scrap of paper off the same kind that you want to paint on. And then if it's too dry, then just go back into the water, dip back into the paint and try again until you get this right consistency like this, you will not make it to watery too quickly, but it will also not be too dry. This is just a matter of trial and error sometimes, and the more you practice, the more you get it right. And the last most common mistake is that colors mix on paper. Here, much of this religious patients you need to wait and let your colors drive first before you work on it with other colors, because otherwise they will unintentionally mixed. So, to recap, we talked about the most common mistakes the bigness make. We talked about paper, we talked about pain and we talked about the problems with being impatient. 8. In this video, I will show you two examples and this will be a very casual talk through video. So I'll paint for your this dear and disgrace girl and talk through the process with you. It's a bit long, but a hope is still valuable. Let's jump right in the first start of his circle, then at the futures here that years off to do then every fine the face shape and upset a features like the nose in the eyes. As you can see at the top. Already did bond sketch, but I felt it was a bit too not life like realistic, and I wanted to have more acute feeling to it. That's why I based it on the circle. So this round head gives more off acute impression, and the top one really looks a bit like a cow. Yeah, just refining. And it's not even necessary. But it just helps me. Okay, so next is a squirrel. Yeah. I used a different sketching method, and I just start with the outlines off the head. You can always spelling change between these two methods. I just do it intuitively, and you just need to find out which one you like more. I am adding eyes again and nostrils and a nose. And again, some details. Help me later to separate colors and you can keep this us details or a simple as you like. This whole video actually took, I think, almost two hours. That's why it sped up a little bit. But if you want to see a full length video, maybe write me and I can think about it. But I hope this is a good speed for you to follow. I decided that I didn't quite like this squirrel head and again around a shape adding the features. Then I at the nose I need to find a had shape. And again I feel the round shape as the base really helps to create a cute shape. What ahead? Unless you can see Dem anyways. And I'm kind of going back and forth between different methods. So Hey, I'm just doing the ice a bit, Ma. I add some details just to help me with painting later under, check my reference. Oh, my references. So I have not just one picture, but varies definitely good to look quite a few pictures off your animal, some of the features that are really important on the nose and a month and obviously the I shoot. So pay close attention to these things. Now we're looking at Those are sketches and I'm using engine yellow Primary and I think white and I'm just dropping a pea size on the palate. The way usually decide. Kalis is based on, well, what I have available. I only have two introductory set, so gives you a limited palate. But if you have only two primary colors, you can already work of so many different colors. So I just encourage you to really test out your colors. I got to teach you that I provided and play and test what you can get with them. And then you will see what fits best for your chosen annual. I usually tend to go with warm cuteness. Sorry that it's sometimes a little bit out of focus. I tried my best to film. This took a really long time, so just to give you an idea that obviously it's it's quick to learn individual Smith. The instructions are actually very fast just to give you a really quick starting, but this is just to show you that. Yes. Even if you have painted a long time, it takes a while. Does this actually Oakar? So I've added another color. I decided to go but more full of brown. What a deer sometimes is is also just guessing for me. I don't have a very clear plan sometimes. So I'm trying to keep the background noise as low as possible. But as you might know, at the moment I'm living next in the airport. It's the talent sometimes to find time and space, but I hope it is still valuable. So I am just trying to fill the shape. If your paint keeps the drought, add a little bit more water and see what happens. Obviously it still needs to be your pig. But then it has a nice airflow and to the tricky to get this consistency right. And it also really depends on the paper. I have noticed that with bigger paintings and heavyweights, sketchbook paper is not being good because, uh, it soaks up the water too much somehow. And I know the paint kept drawing out on me. Andi. So I think with if you want to cover large areas. I would definitely recommend a watercolor people. Instead, it's like sick 30 now 300 gram. Sorry. What kind of people? Yes, I'm just starting with the first, basically trying to see where I mean shapes are Andi all of my sketch quite closely as to conceit. Obviously, if you paint is more often do sketched and there's more work. So if you're drunk, long will get sketched in. You can just follow it in a mixed delivered more white into my well based color, which I mixed with primary red and okra. And then I was like I just out of the white to brighten into club. That's only using me to make because that you would you have liked to and to still keep it the same. Hello, war on. And yeah, I'm just feeling it a short strokes. As you can see, a 10 to go and to the water back and forth with the colors. Keep the consistency, and I usually also make a color swatch and here already and adding a little bit of detail because I found that there needs to be a light in every about ties. So while I'm painting this. This is quite straightforward. I think something talk details and, um, check to start shaping the head. And this really depends on your reference. Or just look and check. We're a lighter or darker areas. I just really want to encourage you to create your own cell by using you medium goulash in various ways. So just experiment. Is this my way off doing it? And this is what I can show you, and I've covered the basics, but you really need to just paint a lot. And over time, the more you feel comfortable because you have used it more and you know exactly how your paper, your brush and your pain intact you're way of painting. Um, it would be much easier for you to predict it, and as much as it conflicts pained, I lost my thought. I did about just what I want to say that you should definitely develop your own style all the time. I don't want you to copy what I'm doing directly, you know, I know it's this stiffening to begin to easy away. I tried to really think about how What do you like? Do you like really highly detailed paintings. Do you like paintings that are very lose and try to bring your own character into these paintings? So he had just mixed some black into my whites. Um, so and developing. That's great. Sometimes I forget to make a great and the color swatch, and this could happen. I don't always do it. Try to do it because it is so helpful if you are painting over a long period of time, and I don't know if you can notice, but the image cause you got unlimited worse because it's getting at the darker and sometimes my life is not as good as I wish it would be. But this is what I have at the moment. So it got darker because it took a long time. It took some breaks in between. Um, unfortunately, I can paint the whole day, even if it's not a big painting. It just takes some time. Paint has to dry. And yeah, life is going on all the time they had. Yeah, but this is done icing. You can come well respected, and sometimes that's Benton. It's better to yeah, just sometimes leave it. If it doesn't work out as you will see later on. Um, so this is an example off paint being too dry. And I went back and forth water and paint, and now you see, it's mentioned nicer and the colors clean and think and don't have anyone showing soon. By the way, if I annoy you, if you don't like someone touching casually while you want your painting video, then you can just meet me. And I hope you can still learn from this little piece that I think what I wanted to say before must be needed. Sometimes it's good to take a step back like I such as before and interrupt myself, have thought than this girl actually took forever for me to paint. It's just kept on looking wrong to me. What It's just I don't know. It just didn't feel it. So you will see that, Yeah, I actually have a lot of experience painting keys, animals, But still, if I do a new and more than also I ISMs have to really think about what are the main characteristics. What what really defines this other moan? So I'm developing and developing, and it has. I go, and for this one, I think it was simple as just couldn't figure out the nose and a kept just looking wrong for so long So you can see the scrolls now done the base layer such a fleshy tone for the years and knows well, very living under the eyes and a light Agree for them belly and him going on with the same Great for didn't knows what's in there. And but this many times I don't have a very clear plan. Have a certain color palette, and then they tried to keep them consistent. So has used the same colors. I'm not now jumping, really. Cool column. So stick motive. Warm colors for this 32. Actually, I want to make these to a part of my greeting cards that that's also something you nice to conduce with squash because, like I mentioned in early lessons, it reproduces really well in digitally so you can scan it in and then use it for all kinds of things. And I I would like to use them for my greeting counts. So, yeah, please don't exactly copied this because it's under my copyright, but you can definitely use it for your own practice as long as you keep it. Um, yeah, off line. Um, I try to use your own animals, try to create your own style. And like I said, you can still practice. That's no problem. You can obviously do exactly what I do said by step two. Then how I did That's always good to learn from other people. But I do believe that you will have your own way of doing things. And you will actually want to do it your own way. But it's Yeah, I don't know. I also just like to watch other artists and illustrates is under behind the scenes. You know, I'm not going to copy them, but I will just use them as inspiration and see their way of working. Yeah, Good. So I'm now adding more detail. This is my second layer on the north. I tend to find shapes and the way you do this is really up to you. This is how I do it. But I feel that you've learned not, um how discourse You learned how to layer colors. You don't help out details. You don't how to get divide. Consistency over was allowed to practice And what squash is best used, bowler which materials you need. So I hope this convene to give you a good foundation to create wonderful pieces yourself. And I hope you are researching yourself like various industries. It's not just that you like. And I bet you very soon you will notice who seems in glass and you will be able to recognises sometimes have a tough because it could be critics from outside as well. But if I'm if I'm looking Instagram I just know. Sorry. Um, I just check sometimes the hash toxins and you have seen quashed And sometimes I was quite right. Like I can start to really recognize if someone uses glass because of the fine details is just incredible. It's nice to see fashion illustrators. Ah, editorial demonstrators use gosh still, despite to computer being Yeah, definitely one of the most use media in this age. And yeah, I just I just love this feeling of having paintbrush in my hands and it's some hard such a wholesome experience, cause sometimes I wish I had uh, yeah, the ability to just easily erased things is a click. And not to have to We mixed pains on done right things to dry completely and then go, but again, so correcting mistakes is elected process, but it's still possible, so I just prefer painting at the moment. So he and always checking, um, which direction, if I would take and I at basting brush strokes, which I encourage you to practice really, and how to take control of over your brush? Do these little brush exercises that I showed you in one of the lessons I feel this dear hasn't been taken quite a nice direction. Um, I'm adding missing. It's one more white. This is a long time ago when I painted this friend. It's hard for me to find a space sometimes, too. We caught this boys over, so please forgive me if it's not perfect. I'm still thinking that if I have anything really valuable, I will add it to the content. If the land something new, it If you have encouraged certain things, um, this course can still grow. I don't want to add too much to it, because I feel now is quite a nice selection. All things and it's really up to you as well. Like I said, no one can, um, take away to work from you, but it's nice to learn different ways of doing and have someone to show you how and to save you some mistakes that put some. But I'm when buying things on buying one, lying to to pains and tape. So for me to paper definitely was one of the things I had to done. My first green eyes illustration I created on very cheap and very low quality paper. Unfortunately, the colors just looked very dull, and I wish I could just repainted exactly the same way. But then again, that's the thing about painting. You can never really helps and back like a devoted what you've done. We could do it similarly, but it's a nice thing as well. It's your NUJ idea. Almost names. You chose the wrong paper thing. Sometimes this sucks. So yeah, for, um, IMA justice size. Um, I feel that have you wait sketchbook paper. It's perfectly fine. Um, it doesn't wrinkle queens, you know, it doesn't get wave you and I feel takes the pain well, but I've noticed that for larger pieces trying to come up big in there, it didn't work out so well for me um, but this is just because I thought the tank this trying out too quickly, we just think has to do with the take a soaking the paint? Yes. So I'm adding more white highlights. I don't want to describe literally every step. I think you can see what I'm doing, but I'm just trying to I took a few words. He and dinner. If I feel that it's Bonnie poor, I feel as well with the eyes. The ice is so important. If you guys just have one color, you don't look very creepy. You know what? It's just black. What? They feel like they're staring at you. 18. BONUS II: correcting mistakes: welcome to pod to So I finished painting the deer in the papers video. And now I'm showing you why this girl painting took me so long so you can see how I develop it and how I change it How? I, uh correct areas. And it's good to watch this because you will learn how to correct mistakes and see that you don't have to be start completely all over again on if painting looks of it wrong. And that's what I like about it. You don't have to give up on something you have created for hours in some way. You do because you paint over it. But the whole outline and the guidelines are still there. So here I went into the white and painted it, But around the eyes, I can obviously this, um well, it depends on your reference what animal you choose. And, yeah, but like I said, I'm just trying to show you, um, how I paint and try to give you some helpful tips you can see again here. There wasn't enough water, so I went back into the water back into the pain. And what it can happen sometimes is that then the pain is not a pig enough. So, um, sometimes this because of my impatience, I don't check well, what you can do and what I will do later, um, is that he can use your white, and obviously you wouldn't see it on the white paper necessarily. But if you are, you have some color swatches. You could just paint on the color swatches and see if it's opaque, so he m adding more highlights. And I feel at the moment it looks a bit like a seal. Excuse me, my voice is it's It's ultimate a moment when I'm recording this on. Yes, you know, the weather and people get sick. That's I Yeah, I try to add some details of the for, and I like this kind of style, but you really don't need to imitate that. I have seen many students doing completely different things, so I am trying to follow the hairline. Just gives the painting a bit more dimension if you do that, and he and my brush strokes seem to get a bit fainter, so I will probably have to go back into my paint again. Re check for areas if you have a closer look, and it's so beautiful because you can learn so much more about someone or something if you observe them, um, have a look, really, which can have areas off the head, um, kind of connected, for example. Sometimes for in certain parts of the body go in the same direction, and then other parts of the body go in a different direction. And this will just teaching a lot of parties and in order to you are painting. So that's credit NYSE um, thing as you can see as well. I have changed my water. That's go to do from time to time. Some people use two different jaws, one for dirty one for clean water. I guess this house, it's, uh, pros and cons for me. I just, um just like using one job. Just clean it regularly, But if you want to be very professional, I think, as I would say as well, you can use two jaws. But that's my reality. I have one. I honestly don't want to pretend to you that, you know, um, I'm perfect at everything I do is the ride way. This is like a set. It's how I do it and I've seen people used to jaws. Andi, I understand that you can keep your colors cleaner. I think especially watercolor. That would be a big concern because your colors can get murky. I have not really noticed that so much with goulash. But, um, if you if this is a concern for you, then please do use to jazz of water. Yeah, I went into black some things in clear black here, um, to add more contrast. I'm sorry that he I went to that bit out of, Ah, the view of to camera. That happens sometimes. As you can see, I do movil. As you can see, I do move my image around quite a lot. So it's easier for me to make my brush strokes. Please don't be so rigid and just keep you up picture as it would be turned it around. So you're brushstroke and really flow and whichever way's easier for you. So it's perfectly fine to even turn it accident a 60 degrees, um, while you paint and he went back into my pain, and I've noticed that my brush strokes became a bit thick. Um, that's something you I guess you just learn over time to see. That's why it's also good to take your paint if it's too liquidy at might end up bigger than you want to. So yeah, same. I make mistakes, too. Sometimes sometimes it's not being patient enough. And but it's old develops and he have My black is to faint. No, it's too brought it down. So I will definitely have to not go back into my blood. And yeah, go over it again. Yeah, I just felt like this This girl staring with me with blank eyes, um crept knows you're cribbing melted a bit, So I added some highlights. We're just immediately at some more life to, uh, paint you and yeah, later on. It's it's good to other, but more dimension off a different color. Then I went into my brownish mix of okra and red and 20 years ago, I can tell you it's thoughts I keep on going back and forth between correcting the mouth and eyes, and it's just looks a little bit 1,000,000 like, Yeah, yeah, I'm just looking at a living more Andi someone's. It helps to turned upside down, and you can see if things are looking a little bit off. Actually just happened. He helped me a lot. Um, if you pay presently, no, you can actually hold it against light and see problems. I noticed that something was definitely up with the eyes. Um, the shape was off, and this is something I had to change. So I went over it with white. It's not his looks weird, but obviously I'm going to paint over it, but yeah. So sometimes you do need to make, uh, certain corrections. Andi, for me, the eye shape waas just wrong when I checked it. And this is something that you can really see when you turn it upside down. Oh, are you Look from it from the other side. Um, do you hold against a light or something? Um, depending your house take to pay for his second set, but for me, he just showed me that eyes were definitely not the right shape. So here I'm just using really nice a pig might, and we paint outlines around the eyes and I just want to say that, you know, these things happen. It's so easy to get frustrated about having to repaint an area that. Just think about it. It's just a step in your dining experience, and sometimes mistakes like this can just mean that you're actually tired. Or maybe you were not in the best of moods when you started painting. If you feel it just doesn't work out and you try it and try it again, just take some distance to the painting and leave it and you will see next time you approach it with different eyes, you will see what's wrong, and you can easily make men's. So here you can see him. I'm really thinking, What's up with this painting? And I'm like adding details here and there, but actually just really shows that I'm unsure, so I don't actually make any big changes at the moment. I'm just constantly thinking, How do I rectified this painting? So I also thought it it doesn't really look like a squirrel that could be could be mistaken for something else. And even though it's not always necessary, like if you don't really well, you don't need at very characters characteristic things. But I felt this. I want to just really needed detail and just I loved the tails off this girl's. We have so many here in our on my parents in law's garden, and you had a very expressive and it's not important, actually, to recognize it. Um, at least for my painting, I felt without detail, it could be something else as well. So detail in the back, really at stirred. So I mix the I would like to great, um, my black and my what? And you can see I'm not actually said reading my colors on the palette so much. I mean, this has its positive and negatives. I think he had a grave you picked up a little bit from the nice brown underneath. And this could just axum warmth to the gray. And, yeah, I realized that maybe I need to be fine the shape of the head a little bit. Um, yes, sometimes just necessary to go back and forth, and it just takes time. So I'm just adding a bit more pains. I think it wasn't a bit too. Brought it down, and you can see some water knocks, son. Yeah, I'm just putting, um, a short bit sicker strokes. And I think from that moment on, I started to like it a painting a little bit more again is an interesting relationship. You develop to a painting. Andi. I think it's good if you if you have a loving look that you're painting, it's just like a baby. And, hey, I don't know if it's something is difficult. You just need to keep on going. He had a I had a Break on and the King back and adding again, a bit more whites around the eyes is This is one way for me to define shape. So Tyson was painted a bit over the black, and you need to basically a dried. That's also very important I've mentioned is before. But please paint on totally dry paint. Um, the impatient side of me always got it made it worse because I painted in 1/2 dry pain and things just makes and unintentionally, it just doesn't look what most of the time. So if it's not intentional, waved definitely were a team that your pain climb. So again I am turning the painting around so it's easier for me for the direction of my hand on my wrist, and this is just really helpful and gives you a bit more freedom, Some solo, just working with my whites, issue concedes in his brush strokes and not to same size. I'm trying to correct that a little bit by I'm painting over it again. I'm going back a bit into death. Gray and Dr Great. I'm not a bit longer strokes, so please just vary between your brush, stroke length and useful. It works for you how we see the closer you put them together, the darker on an area will appear on because I spread my brush strokes out. I can create light and dark areas. In this case, I just want to add a bit more dimensional. So the hair off a squirrel Teoh, obviously to have different colors in them anything hang. That's different colors. So I just tried to create disillusion by spreading my brush strokes out a little bit so wide and black or white and dark recon peek through. I'm just hunting a few more details around years, Andi eyes, because obviously I had to paint over this area so slowly. You cannot even see that the husband, a huge I before and yeah, going back to this talk about patients. I think patients that's something that you really develop over time, Um, patients with yourself especially. And even the most experienced people make mistakes when they pain sometimes and like, is it that's absolutely fine. Just take it as somehow. I like Mira telling you maybe how you feel at the moment. I just take it as a hint. Maybe you need to take better care of yourself. Maybe you're too stressed and then, yeah, leave it for a while and then come back. I think painting should be enjoyable on Dio more you let golfed is feeling off perfection on his need of perfection. I think the more you enjoy it ended more comes almost like meditation. I can be really relaxing. So he is something I haven't showed you because does something I just developed and I use a pencil and I oh, George pupils he I'm checking with pencil or something straight if the ISA level. And then I realized OK, one of the eyes is higher up in a bit smaller. So I am testing the opacity and I had no but good paint onto it outside of the eye to make it appear but bigger and to lowered and then business well, and so that's a really handy tip. Try and use either your pencil, your brush and measure. And, yeah, just check if the eyes are on the same height. Especially when the UN was looking straight at you. Maybe a little bit off a no brainer, but clean your brush really well before you go into white. Otherwise, it will have a great and then you can just have it onto one off your Dockers watches to test how we'll pick you This here I'm adding a bit more white. Come So outlined. I again you can see that look be much more similar and to learn going into the white. And he I'm just playing around because I just, Felton knows, looked a bit wrong. This well, something about it just didn't appear right to me, and it took me some time to figure it out. I added a bit more white, um, trying to define shape up the nose and then I make some pink with red and white. But to be honest with you, this is something I painted over again. I just thought maybe just would help. What I didn't feel the Indus was actually a good idea. So, um, I painted over that again. This well, so I am just thinking on. So I'm going back and forth, adding some Doc Brown, but yeah, that's I hope does not too boring, because that's just real life. Sometimes you just have to think and thing and try and yeah, just believed that able work out. So then I actually went into a brown was already on my palette. I usually colors on my palette because I think it's a waste to just wash it off. And this brown in the end. Waas what? I left, uh, for the final painting, I actually realized this really helps to define the nose. And I thought this was missing. So, like, into the tip of the nose. Uh, Dr Brown, I'm just found a next with resident queen. Can I go back into my block? And I decided that woods at the nostrils. But then I take my mind, and I just took my pencil and to find eyes and with more. It's just nice because, and graphite of the pencil, just us a nice reflection to the eyes. And here I'm just adding nostrils. Now, if the black did I used before on a placement differently. No situs I feel was made One of the mistakes I did. I I sent him a bit too high. That's nice, because such as hell on. And I know I know the 12 pain to scroll from this angle own place in there. So I am just starting a little bit more detail, but for me, this is just assigned it. I'm actually done, and I just want to refine this painting. But to be honest, if you now how it looks now, I'm basically completely happy understanding. Find details. They don't make a big difference anymore. So you will see that I really only at a few more strokes here and there. Um, it's just out to the peace. But the main important things the eyes and the nose in the mouth actually all in the right place now for me and I just now just go over the belly little bit feel like maybe I have done it. But how passively touch even it out. And then afterwards, I will take a pencil and just at a little bit more details, um, to the belly for after I painted it. White friends. That's really it, actually. And I hope this was good for you. I hope you learn something from it. I hope you concede that it's not a straightforward. Sometimes it takes a while. But I hope you learn how to deal with these situations and see that quashes wonderful too. Were we working area? And I could completely change the appearance of the squirrel because of that, without having to do a whole new painting. I hope you enjoy this on my little creations. And I really hope you learn to love goulash and, yeah, thank you very much for being part of discourse.
