1. Introduction: What You Will Learn: Hello everyone. My name is Josh and welcome to this GoPro Hero denied camera Master Class. I've been fortunate enough to have opportunities to travel and see it awhile FOR my travels, I've realized the importance of being able to document my journey. This made me develop an interest in filmmaking, and more specifically, GoPro action cameras. These action cameras are the ideal way to document your adventures worldwide. Whether you are travelling to an exotic location or just taking a family holiday. The GoPro Hero nine is GoPro is most versatile action camera yet full of great features. So I'll be breaking down the ins and outs of this essential camera. In this course, you'll learn how to set up and operate your GoPro. You will learn about the three primary capture loads. You learn how to capture cinematic footage and you also learn about the power tools in addition to learning about order settings and extra features. By the end of the course, you will be equipped with the knowledge to be able to use your GoPro Hero nine to its fullest potential, enabling you to capture moments and memories that will last a lifetime. Thanks for watching this introductory video, and I hope you enjoyed this course on Logo pro hero nine.
2. Setting Up Your GoPro : Before we get into filming and operating our GoPro, we have to set up our camera. First off, we have to pull down this notch to reveal a reds tab and lift the door. Here we have where we insert the microSD card and battery, in addition to the USB-C port, which is used for charging your GoPro. My advice is to have a microSD with at least a 128 gigabytes as you want to micro SD, they can keep up with all the larger video files you'll be creating when our filming. And of course, you do not want to end up stuck with a full microSD in the middle of a filming session. My personal recommendation is the SanDisk Extreme a2 or a1, a 128 gigabyte or higher micro SD card. Insert the Micro SD in first with the front of the card facing the back screen of the GoPro. Next up, insert the battery with the GoPro logo. Battery facing the front screen and a plastic strip facing outwards. Use this strip to easily remove the battery Whenever you may be replacing them. Next up, use the included USB cable to fully charge your GoPro by plugging it into your laptop or socket to indicate that your camera is charging. Red LEDs will be visible on both the front and back of the camera. You will know when you go pro is fully charged as the red LEDs will turn off. Remember to probably close the door to your GoPro by again lowering the Notch. This is in order to keep your camera waterproof and damaged resistant. After you are fully charged your GoPro, you can turn on your camera by pressing the power button on the left side of the camera under the nine black icon. When first turning on your GoPro, you'll be prompted to select your language of choice, agree to terms and conditions, and connect your GoPro, GoPro app. Connecting your GoPro to go pro app is essential in keeping your GoPro updated with the latest features and firmware. Once the camera and app have connected, you'll most likely be asked to update your camera. So go ahead and updates your hero nine. Now to turn off your GoPro Yaffe to hold down the power button for free seconds as opposed to simply pressing it. The last thing to mention other Go Pro's mounting fingers, which allow your hero nine to be placed on a host of different mounts and accessories. They can be lowered and put back into position like so. To attach your GoPro onto amount, slide the mountain fingers into amount, and certainly bolt into the fingers and mount and proceeds a titan doublet. Here is the hero nine, ongoing pros and many Extension power, floating hand grip and magnetic swivel clip. Now that we have set up our hero nine and we are ready to start filming.
3. Operating Your GoPro : It's time to start to get to know your GoPro. So in this lesson, I'll be going over how to operate your camera. Once you turn on your camera by pressing the power button, you will be greeted by this screen. The GoPro Hero nine has three main capture modes, which can be accessed by swiping either left or right. First, there is the video mode, which features Standard Activity, cinematic and slow mo presets. To the right is the photon mode, which includes photo, live, burst, burst, and knights presets. And to the left is the time-lapse mode, which includes time warp, time-lapse, and night lapse presets. You can also use the power or mode button to alternate between modes. Now under the actual filming, there may be times where you do not need all the settings on screen. Simply tap the screen and they will go away. Tap again to bring the Settings Back. Button. On top of the GoPro is the shutter button, which is used to start recording. To stop recording in either video or timelapse mode. Simply press the shutter button again. Now the rear touch screen gives you access to your GoPro is recording and capture settings. Up top we have the current mode displayed or to the left we can see how much recording time or photos we have remaining. To the top right, we have the battery status. A fully charged battery will last you between two hours to two hours and a half, depending on your recording settings. To the right and left, we have customizable onscreen shortcuts, which can vary depending on what mode or you are using. And at the bottom, we have the capture settings. Now, each caption mode has different presets which are better suited to different situations. To change between presets, simply tap the capture settings and select a new preset you wish to use. And you're good to go. Customizing your presets and even creating your own is just as simple. To edit. A preset, tapped the pencil icon next to the preset you wish to adjust and proceed to edit the settings you want to change from the capture screen. You can also press and hold the capture settings to jump straight into the Settings menu. Up top, we have the main options. And when we scroll down, we have more advanced proteins settings, as well as the option to choose what shortcuts and we want access to. To create your own preset. Scroll down to capture settings and tap this plus icon. Choose a preset mode and adjuster settings dial where you want them. When you are finished, tap this tick icon to save your preset. Choose a name, an icon, and now you're ready to use it. You can delete your preset by tapping this top right icon and then the red cross. The presets preloaded onto your GoPro cannot be deleted, but can be adjusted to your liking. Here are some presets recommended by GoPro, which are worth saving onto your camera. To actually viewed it, footage or photos captured, simply swiped out from the main screen. Final points or highlight here is how to remove the lens. The best way to remove the lens is by pulling up the lens slightly and then turning it counterclockwise. It should easily come off, putting it back on and just requires you to slide it back into place. Now that we are starting to understand our GoPro better, let's move on to the next lesson.
4. The Front Screen : Next up, we're going over the standout feature of the GoPro here on the front screen display. The front-facing display was made for selfies, vlogging, and for use as a webcam. It will allow you to perfectly frame up your videos and photos with 0s, like the rear touchscreen. The front touchscreen displays what modes there are cameras set to. The current preset battery life and remaining storage space. When recording and video and timelapse mode, you will see how much time has passed. Once you take a video, timelapse or photo, a number will be displayed at which indicates how many files have been created in that given mode. Here we see that five photos have been taken on this GoPro. You can use the front screen to switch between capture settings, which is especially useful underwater. Holds Demode button and tap the shutter button to bring up the presets. Scroll through them using the mode button and select which one you want. With the shutter button. You can actually adjust the front display to suit your various needs. Scroll down from the main screen to access the settings. Tap on this square icon with a person inside. Here we can select quite a few options. You can use the display to view to actual screen for more accurate view of what you are capturing. You can also use this screen to only display status information. And if you want, you can choose not to use. The front screen has all which will save you some battery power. Just tap the tick icon to save your preferred front screens settings. And that's all you need to know about the humanize front screen display. Be sure to put it to good use.
5. Video Mode : In this lesson, we will be covering the video mode on your GoPro Hero nine. Before we jump into the video mode, it is important to keep in mind that your camera is waterproof, up to 33 feet straight out of the box. For those diving deeper, grab a protective waterproof case and you are covered down to a 196 feet. The hero nine boasts a 23.6 megapixel sensor, which is seven times more pixels then high-definition being able to capture. And 5K means you'll be working with 50% more resolution than in 4K. Basically, your videos will come out smoothly, Chris, and full of detail. When using video, there are four main settings you need to keep in mind. First up is deciding what resolution you want to film it. We have 10.782 k, 4K, and 5K. You can also fill in a four by three aspect ratio with some of the resolutions. The higher the resolution, the better quality video will be produced. The better quality video also means more editing potential. The main downside being the larger the file size, the micro SD card will fill up faster. The second main setting to the side on is the frame rate. The frame rate is the number of full screen images displayed per second. So choosing 24 frames will result in 24 images being filmed per second. Resolution and frameworks are linked together. A certain frame rate settings can only be filled in certain resolutions. For example, you can only use a 5K resolution setting in either 30 or 24 frames per second. While you can fill up to 240 frames per second in 1080. A frame rate of 24 frames is commonly used to create a cinematic effect as it creates a smooth appearance. The disadvantage to this frame rate is that phosphorylates can look choppy. Recording using 3060 frames per second will result in an even smoother motion but less cinematic. My recommendation is to stick with 24 frames when starting out. The third seti to consider is which Digital lens you want to use. Here we have a choice of five options. Narrow, linear plus horizon leveling, linear, wide and superview. A standard feature of the hero nine is the linear plus horizon leveling lens, which will allow you to tell your camera up to 45 degrees in either direction while maintaining level, stable footage. Narrow, linear plus horizon leveling and linear out the fisheye effect, which means there will be no distortion on the edges of your videos. Meanwhile, widen superview do include the Fischer effect, which I won't go pros unknown for. You will most likely find yourself using the white and superview lens. But if you're not a fan of the fisheye effect, stick to linear. The final main setting to consider is the level of stabilization. With the hero nine go prize introduced highpass move 3. Taking video stabilization to the next level. There are three levels of stabilization on high and boost on stabilizes your video while cropping 10% using a wide lens. High features, strong Video Stabilization. Again, copying 10% of your image while using a wide lens. And Boost offers the maximum video stabilization with title cropping of around 25% to 30%. And of course, you can turn stabilization off, but generally you won't want to. Generally, the more activity and movement, the higher the stabilization setting should be. However, you will find that the high setting works best for most situations. The stabilization settings available across all of the resolutions and frame rates. You can also adjust the Digital lens and stabilization settings. Food onscreen shortcuts. The last point to highlight is that you can use the timer setting to give you a free or 10 second delay before recording. Again, the setting can be set as an onscreen. Shortcuts. Adjust with shortcuts you want onscreen by holding down on the shortcut and scrolling through to the one you want to be on screen. And that is an overview of the video mode on the GoPro Hero nine. Get out that and stop filming.
6. Power Tools : In this lesson, we'll be going over the exclusive power tools. The settings will allow you to extend your capture options beyond just pressing the shutter button. The first feature we will cover is hindsight. This feature is similar to the live births feature in photo mode and is designed so you will never miss a moment. This feature allows you to capture up to 30 seconds of video even before you press the shutter button. Hindsight records the action before you start recording and after, right up until you stop filming. Access to feature by editing a presser, you can choose between hindsight recording, either 15 seconds or 30 seconds before you actually press the shutter button. This feature can also be implemented as an onscreen shortcuts. Keep in mind, this feature will drain a lot of battery power, so only use it when you have. The second feature we will cover is scheduled capture. This setting lets you select the start time of your video in advance. For example, you may be expecting an amazing sunrise in the morning. Instead of waking up to Filmer yourself, you can set up your hero nine beforehand and let us do the hard work for you. You'll go pro, automatically power on at the setTime in order to save battery power. Again, access the feature for editing a preset, select scheduled capture, set your time and make sure the setting is set to on. Another example of how you might use this feature is filming something potentially dangerous, such as fireworks. The setting will allow you to set up your camera and film safely from afar. You will know you have successfully set a scheduled capture as a time to capture will take place, will appear at the top of the main screen. Again, scheduled capture can be set as an onscreen shortcuts. The final power tool we will cover is the duration capture. As you can probably guess, the setting, let's you choose how long your hero nine records for the four automatically stopping. Access this setting through editing a preset selected duration, and choose how long you wish to record for. You can choose from 15 seconds up to free hours. Like the other power tools, this can also be set as an onscreen shortcuts. The settings are there for your convenience, so be sure to put them to good use.
7. Camera Movements : In this lesson, I will be going over some camera movements that will give you videos that cinematic edge. By cinematic, I mean having the qualities and characteristics of feature films. Before we get into the actual camera movements, it's good to ask yourself, what is the motivation for using this camera movement? Does the movement in hearts, the shot? Does it introduce a subject or doesn't make the shot dramatic? First up, we have the dolly movement, which has afford movement. To use this movement, move forward as slowly as possible with the highest stabilization setting enabled. This type of shot is generally used to create tension or introduce a subject. Be it a person or setting. Following on from the dolly is the inverted Dolly. Hey, you need to move backwards as smoothly as possible. This type of movement is best suited when resolving tension or ending a scene. It goes without saying, but be aware of your surroundings when filming this shot. In some situations, it may just be easier to reverse the dolly movement next up or we can get more creative with the spinning shot. Make sure your orientation is locked and start with your GoPro upside down. Then slowly spin back your camera in a continuous motion. There short comes out better the smooth it is. So again, enable boost stabilization, like the dolly movement. You can also reverse this movement. Now, we are going to cover the classic pan shot with the pan, you're going to want to move your GoPro itself from side to side in a smooth motion. This type of shot is great for landscape shots. Shots where you want to reveal a subject and shorts, we have interesting subject matter and both the foreground and background. And to wrap this lesson up, we're going to end with the tilt shot. Here you start in a neutral position, then slowly tilt your camera upwards. With their short, it is best to use the linear lens as the wide lens, you might end up with some distortion. This shot works best when there is something interesting in the upwards direction, such as skyscrapers and nature, these camera movements will get you started creating cinematic videos the next time you're out filming, experiment and try out these camera movements.
8. Transitions : Transitions between shots on essential par filmmaking. And because it'd go pros, compact size and wide-angle lens, you can pull up some pretty creative transition which are bound to impress. In this lesson, I will go over four different transitions. So let's start with a simple but effective slap transition. Here's where it looks like. You've got to remember about this transition is the slab into the camera or one shot out of the camera on the next shot. This grey looking transition is easy to execute and perfectly suited for use with a GoPro. Up next is the slide transition. You have. You're going pro in something that blocks the shot. You slide your GoPro around what blocks to shot. And in postproduction you carts where the blocker is and then transition to the next clip. It should look something like this. If the cat is done right, you will be able to create a smooth motion between the video clips. Up next is the WIC transition, which looks like this. Again, another simple transition. All you're doing is weeping into shots and we're painting out of the shot. If you can put off, it will look great. The final transition I will cover is the zoom transition. Now this transition has to be applied through posts and my advice is to use it sparingly. It is great for creating a sense of movement and should therefore be applied to clips that are connected. There are many ways that can be applied. So be creative and experiments to see what works best. At times you may want to zoom in, while at other times you may want to zoom out. And there you have four transitions to experiment with. The key to transitions is keeping things simple. So don't overcomplicate things and enjoy filming.
9. Photo Mode : It would not be possible for options to choose from. The default setting is the standard processing mode, which takes a photo without any special processing. Now for those looking for professional level of control, you might want to go for the raw output. Raw photos give you the most flexibility in post-production as all of the important image information will be saved onto your image. This in turn gives you an image vastly more editing potential. As can be expected, these files will take up more storage space. In HDR or high dynamic range mode, you will get more detail in the light and dark areas of your photos. But at times the resulting the disadvantage is that you have no control. On your. Next up on the left we have this timer icon which will give you either free or 10-second interval before photo is taken. A great feature to bear in mind when taking selfies and lining up shots. Now on the bottom left you can select the Digital lens you want to use you can select between a Wide Linear and narrow. However, I recommend using Y to the most as the fisheye lenses what is special about the GoPro series of cameras? If you do not want the fisheye effect and the distortion that comes with it stick with linear within the photo mode we have for individual photo setting, we have just covered this started photon mode so let's jump into the live burst mode. This mode captures 1.5 seconds or 45 frames before and after you take a shot, which results in 90 photos or frames this mode is perfect for those situations where you want to capture that perfect shot. In this mode you can choose between eight megapixels and 12 megapixels. 12 megapixels will result in high quality images was, the downside being done, more storage space will be taken up. Once you take a live burst you can use the GoPro app or desktop application to select the perfect photo save the selected frame a free second video clip, and then you can share your photo or video take into account. That is mode drains, you'll go pros battery so only use it when it is necessary. The next modes to cover is the burst mode in this mode the GoPro take several photos, one after one another in a quick succession making it ideal for action sequences like live burst. This mode is here to help you capture that perfect moment. Setting to consider here is the burst rate you can set how many photos per second a GoPro should take. The first number relates to the number of images or the second number relates to the number of seconds ten slash one means ten photos will be taken in 1 second. The optimal setting depends on how long your shorts lasts there's also an auto feature which will take up the photos in 1 second depending on the lighting conditions. In burst mode, you also have the option of having a rule output which will allow for high quality photos with more editing potential Night Mode which as expected is optimized for low-light conditions and longer exposure times. A setting to bear in mind here is the night shutter, which determines how long ago per shutter stays open choose a longer exposure time for darker shots. Alternatively, the auto setting works well when shooting in this mode I would advise using a tripod. Otherwise you're capturing. And that's a rundown of the photo mode or the GoPro Hero nine
10. Time Lapse Mode : Coming up, we will be going over the time-lapse mode on the GoPro Hero. Neither a time-lapse is a series of photos taken at regular intervals, which are then combined into a video. Because of the Go Pro's wide-angle lens, you can capture ultra stabilized time lapses which are shorter. Take your videos to their next level. Time-lapse is ideal for showing the passage of time. From a sunrises and sunsets. Clouds only fruit of sky, to the hustle and bustle of busy cities. Within the time-lapse mode, there are three different types of timelapse settings. The standard time-lapse, the night lamps, and the time warp. Now when talking about settings for time lapses in iLabs is the first setting you're going to want to look into is the format setting. First, tap the pencil icon. Under the format setting, you can choose between time-lapse video and time-lapse photo. If you select time-lapse video, your camera automatically creates a time-lapse video for you. Alternatively, time-lapse photo takes a large number of photos which you have to edit into a tile up yourself using editing software. Using time-lapse video is more convenient as the file size will be smaller than when using time-lapse photo, a large amount of high quality photos will naturally take on more storage space. However, because the individual photos taken using time-lapse photo or of a high-quality, they have more editing potential and can therefore look much better. My advice is to stick the time-lapse video if you are a beginner and use time-lapse photo if you're more experienced using cameras and want to look for your time-lapse to find a particular shot. This next setting again applies to both regular time lapses and night lapses. It is the interval setting which determines how often your GoPro takes a photo. When shooting irregular time lapses, you can go from 0.52 intervals up to 60 minute intervals. Lapses go from 4 second intervals, the 60 minute intervals. And also has an auto setting which lets you go put aside how often a shot is taken. The basic rule to remember with intervals is to choose shorter intervals for quicker activities and longer intervals for extended activities. Want to 3 second intervals work well for fast-moving clouds, crowds of people moving traffic, Dr. lapses, as well as sunrises and sunsets. Ten seconds, 30-second intervals work better for slow moving clouds, moving shadows, and capturing the sun moving across the sky. Five minute or 15 minute intervals work well for construction projects or Fast-growing plants, more extended activities. Unfortunately, there is no set interval for filming each and every subject. So it is up to you to experiment a little with time lapses. Shoot for a few minutes to test your settings. And that will show whether you need to increase or decrease the interval setting. When it comes to time lapses, getting the incivil right is essential. For example, here you can see the interval is set too high for the subject matter. But when the interval is lowered, the fetish comes out better as the shortest smoother. And the detail can be appreciated. Now my advice, when she's in any type of timelapse, night lapse, or time is to use the highest available resolution, which in the hero nines case is 4K resolution, meaning or horizontal screen resolution of around 4 thousand pixels. Now, let's look at the more specific settings of the Nile apps mode, which itself is optimized for low-light conditions. And as you can guess, for taking time lapses during the night and extra setting of the night lamps mode is being able to control the shutter is setting lets you control the exposure, which allows you to determine how much motion blur parsing cause will produce. The darker the subject matter, the longer the exposure time should be. The exposure time must be set according to the interval setting. For example, an exposure time of ten seconds requires an interval of at least 15 seconds. You can also set the shutter to water, whereby the camera will automatically set how long the shutter stays open. From my experience, this works well enough. Now until the time warp mode, what are the standard features of the hero nine? This mode allows you to capture altro stabilized time-lapse videos while on the move. The settings a highlight in this mode is the speed setting. The setting determines how far shall video is sped up. The higher the speed your photos are taken, and the more stable your video will be. For example, one minute of recording at times to speed will give you a 30-second video. Or five minutes of recording at time 16 speed will give you a 20-second video. Choose the lowest speed for shorter activities, like times two or times five. Times five also works best for Dr. lapses and choose a highest speed for longer activities, like times ten times 15 times 30 times 15 is great for exploring and hiking or just taking a picture as grown. Alternatively, the auto speeds setting works well. Now the next feature to highlight in the timeline mode is the speed rap setting. The setting allows you to toggle between real speed at 30 frames per second or half speed, slow motion at 60 frames per second when recording a tie whoop, simply toggled between settings while recording a time-lapse by tapping this bottom tab. New to the hero nine is that live audio has been added when using the speed RAM feature from the preset editing menu, tab speed, ramp, and selective a real speed or half speed. I feel that this feature epitomizes everything great about GoPro cameras as it is bound to allow for some creative filmmaking. Something to bear in mind when using time whoop is that you can have a rising leveling enabled, which will make your time that much smoother. Unfortunately, half speed cannot be enabled in 4K resolution. The finer points or highlight is the fact that the scheduled capture and the ration capture power tools are able to be used across all free time-lapse modes, as you would expect. And that is an overview of the time-lapse mode on the GoPro Hero nine.
11. The GoPro App : Coming up, we'll be going over the GoPro apps for mobile devices, this application is essential in being able to maximize the potential of your action camera. The GoPro app for mobile is free and available for IOS through the app store and for Android through the Google Play Store or the App has a variety of uses and updates your GoPro with new features and firmware. You'll go pro will use its wi-fi connection to connect to your phone or tablet. Firstly, you have got to connect your GoPro TO device. On your GoPro, go into the dashboard, swipe right and tap on Connections, tab on Connect device, and then GoPro up. Your camera will then enter into a pairing mode from your app. Tap this plus icon on the top right, and your GoPro should come up. Tap connects cameras to link you to devices. It will give you the option to change your cameras name, which is handy if you are using multiple GoPro. You'll know if you have successfully connected your GoPro as you will be able to view a live preview from your camera, tap the GoPro image on the app, or control your GoPro to view to preview and tap enable preview. Now CO2 devices are pairs together. Up next, I want to highlight a useful feature that you can only enable from the app. This is the low-k camera feature which you can use to locate your GoPro when you've accidentally lost or dropped it went up filming from the app. Tap this top right wrench icon and scroll down to the bottom. Here. Enable the low-k camera feature and your GoPro will begin beeping, making it easier to locate. Take into account that the ABS range is between 35 to 50 feet depending on the wireless interferences in your area. Furthermore, you cannot connect to the app loyal GoPro is under water as Wi-Fi signal cannot travel through water. Essentially, the GoPro app acts like a remote for your GoPro, allowing you to remotely control your camera eyelid settings. Remotely turn on your GoPro by tapping the camera on the app, or control your GoPro remotely power off by tapping the power icon on the top right. The wrench icon allows you to remotely adjust the settings that have been previously discussed in this course. From the brightness to camera beeping, front screens settings and the LEDs. From the main preview, you can access all the necessary settings, like which mode to shooting or preset enable. And of course, being able to stop filming remotely. You can also view the current media on your GoPro. Bear in mind that you'll go Posner reliance on the app when they are connected. For example, if you start recording a video on the app, but then close it, your camera will keep on recording. When recording horizontally on your GoPro, you can rotate your device to view a larger image of what you are recording foodie app. When recording vertically, you can view the full frame on the app with your device held vertically. We're viewing a recording from your device. It is important to remember that the Preview on the app is on the same resolution as on your GoPro camera. Don't worry if it is coming out blurry on the preview. As once you download the footage, it'll come out in a far higher quality. Now onto viewing and transferring media using the GoPro app to view and save media. First tab, view media to say footage or photos onto the app. Type, either this icon on the lower left or tab here. And tab downloads to app. Saved media is stored on the disallow icon. Once your media is saved to the app, you can then save it onto your device by tapping this icon and then save two photos. You can also view media saved onto the cloud food Go Pro subscription service, where you have to be connected to the internet. When going for your media on the app, you can grab and save a frame of a video as a photo. You can do this by tapping this bottom icon, selecting the frame you want, and even saving the frame to the app or your devices photos. You can also edit your clips by tapping on this pencil icon. The app can also edit together video clips for you. Type the second icon across the bottom of the app, and you'll be suggested clips to edit together. You can also select what clips you would like to be put together. While this is an interesting feature, most people would rather edit their video clips themselves. The final point I mentioned, which is the most important, is that fruit, a GoPro app, you can update your cameras firmware wirelessly. When a new update is released, your app will prompt you to download the update. The update will download onto your device, which can then be downloaded onto your GoPro. And that covers everything you need to know about the GoPro and essential application to use when are filming with your camera.
12. Tips And Tricks : In this lesson, we'll be going over some general advice that will make your experience using the GoPro Hero nine, all the law enjoyable. The first thing I would like to highlight is the carrying case that your GoPro Hero nine comes with. I'm highlighting this because previous iterations of the GoPro have come in plastic boxes that are pretty much useless. The moment you get your hands on this case, you can tell it is a quality product. Inside we are this back pocket and you pretty much have enough space for, for GoPro kit. My advice is don't shout this case to one side, but take it with you on your travels. It is sure to keep your GoPro and kid safe and secure. Next up, we will go over the curved mount package with your GoPro is this black piece of plastic. And you might have been wondering, what is it actually four, very simple. This amount can be stuck onto any kind of helmet to allow you to capture POV shots. When our snowboarding, skiing, or just start cycling. To apply the curved amount, removed the red sticker from the bottom and gradually stick it onto the front of your helmet to avoid any air bubbles. Before you apply it to your helmet, makes sure the surface is clean. Now grab your GoPro and extend the mounting fingers. Grab the mounting buckle, attach your camera so both of the GoPro logos are facing the same direction. Attach your camera to denote by lifting this up here and slide the camera into them out. To remove it from them out, simply squeeze these two parts together and removes your camera. Before we continue on and take a look at this clip. When our filming these kinds of intense activities, there is a real possibility that you'll go probably fall out of your hands and be lost forever. To prevent that from happening, make sure you have some kind of wrist strap accessory for your camera. This also applies when filming on the water as your camera can easily be swept away by a current if you do not have your GoPro securely strapped to yourself. Therefore, an accessory of this kind is essential. Now want to filming your GoPro Hero nine has an extremely convenient feature called quick capture. This feature allows you to jump straight into recruiting video, even when your GoPro is powered down. To enable this feature, swipe down onto the dashboard and have this rubber icon. Now quick capture is enabled. Simply tap the shutter button when you go pro is powered down and your camera will start recording in the preset lost used. When you stop filming, your GoPro willpower back down. You can also jump into a time-lapse using quick capture. This time, hold the shutter button for three seconds while your GoPro is powered down and your camera will start recording a time lapse in the settings loss used. Next up, we will go over how to control the exposure on your camera. With this feature, you will be telling you a GoPro what area you want the exposure to be based on. First, tap and hold the screen until a set of brackets with her daughter peers. Drag the brackets to the area of the shot you want the exposure to be based on. When you are happy with the exposure, tap the tick icon. This feature will also let you lock the exposure until you wish to cancel it. This is useful if there are areas of your shots that are too dark or to lie. To lock the exposure, tap the brackets and a lock icon will appear. Tab to tick icon and you're good to go. To cancel the locked exposure. Again, hold down the touchscreen and tap the x icon. The last trick I will cover in this lesson is one that really help you out in a pinch and one that is worth remembering. There may be times when you find that your camera is not responding or maybe the screen has frozen. To fix this, all you have to do is restart your GoPro. To do this, press and hold the mode or power button for ten seconds. This will restart your camera and there will be no changes to your settings. This has happened to me quite a few times. And with this trick, I was able to restart my camera and quickly get back to filming. And there you have it. I hope these tips and tricks are useful when you outfile being.
13. Dashboard And Settings : In this lesson, I'll be covering the dashboard and general settings. Understanding these features, it shows a help you maximize the potential of your GoPro. The first feature I would like to highlight from the dashboard are the gridlines. Swipe down to access the dashboard and tap on the lower left icon. Grid lines are essential when framing shots. For example, when you are taking time lapses and are trying to get a straight horizon. Next up, let's talk about filming orientation. The here-and I can film in a nine by 16 orientation when you rotate the camera to the side, as you have probably noticed, the buttons will change their positions. This orientation is best suited when filming for Instagram, but for the most part, you will not be filming in this format. The hero nine can also film upside down, which may come into play when mounting your GoPro and unusual positions, like before, the buttons automatically adjust themselves. If you film something upside down, the media captured will automatically correct itself to be the right-side up. Now, there may be certain situations where you may want to lock the orientation so that the camera would alternate between the standard orientation and nine by 16 to lock the orientation, access the dashboard and top to bottom rights icon. Now the orientation is locked, which means even when you rotate the camera, the format that you looked at will remain simply unlocked the orientation by tapping the icon again. The next feature I will be covering is the screen lock. This feature is meant to help you avoid accidentally changing your settings when our filming. This feature is particularly useful when vlogging or filming on the water. Swipe down to the dashboard and tap the top rights icon. This will lock your screen, which means that we will be unable to adjust any settings through the touchscreen, which is what we want. To unlock the screen, swipe down and press Tab to unlock. Then go back into the dashboard and toggle off screen lock. Next up, I will be going over how you can adjust the behavior of your hero nine as features such as beeping and LEDs can be adjusted to adjust the beeping, swipe down to the dashboard and tap this music icon to turn off all the beeps on the GoPro. If you want further control over the beeping, the dashboard, swipe right? Tap preferences than general and beep volume. Here you can set the volume of your GoPro is alerts from high, medium, and low. Also in the general settings, if we scroll down, we have the LED setting. You will have noticed two red LEDs on your GoPro, one directly above the front screen and the other to the top left of the rear touch screen. Here we have the option to have them all on or off or front of only. I'm sure these features will be useful to know when you are filming your GoPro videos.
14. Saving Battery Power : In this lesson, I will be going over how you can save battery power on your GoPro Hero nine in order to maximize efficiency and potential. Now, a fully charged battery will last you between two hours to two hours and a half depending on your recording settings. Therefore, if you plan on having day-long filming sessions, I recommend investing in an additional battery for your hero. Nine. These one hundred and seven hundred and twenty MHz batteries are specifically designed for the hero nine, which means they are not backwards compatible. However, there have been designed to withstand cold temperatures and deliver 30% more battery life when compared to the battery on the previous GoPro model. Now I do not expect you to use all of the following tips are once, but keeping them in mind, we'll keep you fully for longer. Firstly, tone of voice commands and camera beeps. Swipe down to the dashboard and tap the voice command and camera beeps icons OFF. Secondly, you're going to want to turn it off wireless connections from the dashboard. Swipe right, tap on connections and turn your wireless connections of, and then go into Preferences, scroll down to regional and turn off and GPS. Enabling GPS allows your GoPro to record the location of where your photos and videos are taken. This is a cool feature, but it is up to you whether it is worth the battery trade-off. Thirdly, form the preferences tab, go into general and tap water power off. This feature determines how long it will take for your camera to automatically power down when it is idle. And he wanted to save the most battery power, set, auto power off the five minutes, which is the lowest setting. Next up, you can save the most battery power fruit of brightness settings. To adjust the brightness from the dashboard, go into Preferences, then into displays, tub brightness, and adjust accordingly. The low you set the brightness, the more battery power you will save. Another way to save power is to disable the front screen, swipe down onto the Dashboard tab the bottom middle icon, and enable screen off. Status only will also save you some power in a pinch. The final way to save battery power is to limit the use of the modding settings. There are two main settings to be aware of. This are very demanding on your GoPro. The hindsight setting in video mode and the live births preset in photo mode. This is because these two settings will require your GoPro to continuously be recording. You may be losing battery power without even realizing it. And there you have it. By remembering some of these tips, you will be able to film for longer and get that short. You want.
15. GoPro Hero 9 Vs. GoPro Hero 8 : In this video, I'll be comparing the GoPro Hero nine with the GoPro Hero eight. This is going to be less of a lesson or more than informative video melted form your purchasing decisions. And if you already own one of these cameras than this video, we'll get you up to speed on the main differences between these two GoPro. So before we get into this video, it is obvious that the human eye nor be an upgrade over the hero eight, but that doesn't necessarily mean it is a bad camera. Far from it. The hearer eight is an excellent action camera and still viable despite the hero nine being available. To begin, Let's go over the basics. First up price. At the time of making this video, the here-and ion goes for three hundred and twenty nine and ninety nine, or the hero eight goes for two hundred and seventy nine ninety eight. It is not a massive price difference or can potentially swing you one way or the other. Now the hero nine is roughly 10% larger than the Huron ate. It weighs 158 grams, or the hero eight weighs 126 grams. So you can feel the difference when you pick them up. However, the nineties still pocket double and a size difference has been justified. Here, nine has a bigger a touchscreen and the previous two iterations of the GoPro, the nine sports or 2.27 inch screen competitor aids 1.95 inch screen, which is a 16% increase. I think this increases excellent and much needed. Fingers crossed that Go Pro, will go even bigger for their next camera. Something I will mention though, is that the screen on the nine can be slightly laggy and unresponsive. But GoPro should be releasing a firmware fix soon. So hopefully when you are watching this, it won't be an issue. Next up, let's talk battery size. This is one of the major differences between the two cameras. I would say the weakest aspect of the hero eight, the poor battery life, which the hero nine fixes with a battery that delivers 40% longer battery life. The humanized sports are 1 five hundred seven hundred twenty MHz battery while they ate sports, or one hundred and two hundred and twenty MHz battery. If we look at recording in full HD here, nine will last for over two hours, while the eight, we'll just about manage one hour and a half. This goes without saying, but the humanoid batteries cannot be used with the hero aids and vice versa. Now, one of the most noticeable differences is the addition of the front screen display on the hero nine. The here eight has a monochrome front display which shows useful information such as the shooting resolution, frame rate, and remaining battery power. This information is also displayed on the nine. The majority of people will prefer the front screen display as it makes framing shots effortless. But for some people, it may be a feature that isn't all that necessary. Now as can be expected with a camera upgrade, the hero nine has more resolution to play with it both at 23.6 megapixel sensor, competitive two hearing aids, 12 megapixel sensor. This means that the Huron ion can capture up to 5K video and 20.2 megapixel photos. While a higher resolution does not necessarily mean better image quality, you will notice extra detail on the hero nine, but it is nothing to write home about. On the other hand, the heroic shoots in 4K and can capture 12 megapixel stills, which gets the job done, especially if you are shooting for social media. I've Next, let's talk lenses. When it was released, the hearing aids, digital removable lenses from the hero line of GoPro cameras. However, the hero nine brings them back. This means that LEDS modes, and filters can be swapped in and out of the hero nine. It is interesting to note, however, that out of the box, the hearing aid actually has a wider field of view than that of the hero nine. Bear in mind the extra lens modes and filters do not come with the humanoid and have to be purchased separately. The final thing to mention is that both the hero nine and here eight and make use of mounting fingers. Mounting fingers were introduced with the hero eight and now carry over to the hero nine. This means that the majority of Mounts will be useable with both versions of the GoPro, which is of course a positive. And there you have it. The Gerber here-and I, and, versus the GoPro Hero eight, I hope I was able to break down the key differences between these two great action cameras.
16. Webcam Mode : We will now be going over how you can use your GoPro Hero died as a webcam. This practical feature can be used on both Windows and Mac OS Operating Systems. Your hero nine will most definitely produce better image quality than compared with a typical webcam. This is because you're here nine will work as a high-definition webcams able to share wide angle perspectives. The first step in setting up this webcam mode is to make sure your camera is updated with the latest firmware. If not, go ahead and update your camera fruit a GoPro app. The next step is to install and launch the GoPro webcam up onto your laptop or computer. When showing a preview is can be posed by clicking pause webcam. You can also adjust the resolution for the GoPro icon. Again, click on the GoPro icon and select preferences. When you are not recording, you can adjust the Digital lens from the rear touch screen. Here you can enable a fourth digital lens, superview. Keep in mind that when you are recording, the GoPro icon will display a red dots. And on the front screen of the GoPro, you or see the word active. Before we finish up this lesson. Here are all of the webcam applications compatible with your hero nine. And now you have a high-definition webcam afoot. All your webcam needs.
17. Live Streaming : In this lesson, I'll be going over how you can live stream to Facebook and YouTube and other platforms in 1080 PhD using your GoPro Hero and I and a GoPro up. The first thing you're going to want to do is to open the GoPro app and tap on control your GoPro from the preview mode swipe to the right to live. Now tap on Setup live. A new screen will appear from where you can choose which platform you wish to stream to allow permissions to connect to your account. Next up, tap setup stream, at the top of the new screen, choose evil or Wi-Fi network, or a mobile hotspot to connect, to. Choose your sharing options and give you a live stream, a description. Then select the resolution you wish to streamer. Use ten ATP for the best quality, but stick to 720 p when using a mobile hotspot. As I heads up, keep in mind that if your signal strength weakens, the video stream bit rate will automatically lower itself. Last up, choose whether you want to save a high resolution version of your stream to your SD card. And lastly, tab setup a live stream across the top of your GoPro touchscreen will read ready, which means you are good to go. Either tap, Go Live from the app would shutter button to start streaming. You will see live on the top of the screen. And from the app you can view how much time has passed, the streams health, and the option to share your strings. To stop livestreaming, tap the red square at the bottom of the app. And with that, now you know how to livestream from Yoko probe.
18. Transferring Media : You have just filmed some awesome shots. So now it's time to start editing your footage. But how do you access your videos and photos? As we have previously gone over, you can transfer media to your mobile device through the GoPro app. If you are using Apple devices, you can transfer media from one device to another using the add drop feature. By far the easiest way to access your media is by auto uploading to the cloud. However, you do need a GoPro subscription to use this feature, to have this cloud icon to enable auto uploading, sets up the wi-fi connection, then connect your camera to a power outlet. The upload will automatically start. After your first time setting this up, your camera will need to connect to the app to start auto upload. Keep in mind, your original files will remain on your camera even after they've been backed up to the cloud. Access to files by going onto the GoPro website to the subscribe section, and then go ahead and download your media. You can also transfer media directly through the micro SD card. You can do this for using a microSD card adapter. First, remove your microSD card from your GoPro. And so your micro SD card into the adapter and connected adapter to your laptop or computer. You may have to connect your card for a separate card reader. Keep in mind that some card readers may already support microSD cards. And then you will be able to directly access your footage. Click on this folder to access your footage. You can also transfer media by connecting your GoPro to your laptop or computer. Buddha USB-C cable. First swipe down from the hero 9's main screen and then swipe to the right, tap connections and then USB connection. And make sure you're on MTV. And then proceed to install the GoPro quick application onto your laptop or computer. Next, plug your GoPro into your computer for the USB-C cable. Turn on your GoPro, and then the GoPro quick desktop application will detect the camera and display its details. Then you are going to want to confirm the camera import location, which means where you want your footage to be imported to. And then click on the blue import files button to begin transferring your footage. The media will then copy from the cameras micro SD cards to the computer. A progress bar will indicate how long the process will take. Click here to access the camera settings. Can adjust whether you want your footage to automatically import onto your computer. When you go pro is plugged in. Once the import is complete, you can view your media on the recent and Media tab on the top left corner. And now I have access to your videos and photos ready to be edited and share.
19. GoPro Subscription : In this lesson, I will be going over the Go Pro subscription service, previously known as GoPro plus. This video will be slightly different from my previous lessons as instead of me teaching you something, I'll be explaining this service so you can have informed the decision or whether it's something you'd like to sign up to. This is not an advertisement for the service. Just me going over what is service provides and wherever I think is worth it. Let's get pricing out of the way first, the service costs four lb 17 per month. If you pay yearly. For 99, if you pay monthly. In the US, the service cost, same button dollars, as you can know, is paying yearly will save you some money. So it can either come out to 50 pounds for pets of 5988 per year. Now, there are three main aspects of the service being advertised. The first being unlimited Cloud Storage. Personally, I think this is the biggest selling point as being able to also upload all of your videos and photos from your GoPro straight onto the cloud, just makes things convenient. It means that you can access all of your GoPro media from wherever you have an internet connection. Making the whole process of getting hold of your media that much more seamless. Bear in mind that footage captured on the GoPro fusion or be stored. This part of the service is great as it is easy to use and executed well. The second main service being provided is total camera replacement will go proclaim you can get your camera replaced. No questions asked. This part of the service will allow you to exchange of the two cameras of the same model per year. Going back until the GoPro fusion and Hero five. This is where in my view, the service becomes less useful, is because GoPro cameras were built to be damaged, resistant and very sturdy. Therefore, the chances of one breaking are incredibly low. These cameras were built to last. People won't end up using this aspect of the service as they simply have to or they don't want to go through the hassle of sending their broken product back. Furthermore, there's a claim service fee which goes up to 100 pounds or dollars for the newer GoPro models. On the other hand, if you are an individual with multiple go pros and regularly used them in situations where they may become damaged, then this service does become worthwhile. The third main aspect, or the service is having up to 50% of gear, accessories, and mounts on GoPro.com. Here you are limited to a maximum of ten items per subscription anniversary year with cameras substantially less off. And with the other products, you either get 50% or 30% off. Now on paper, that sounds like a great deal. 50% off is a fair amount. You're thinking a whole lot of GoPro care for cheap. But that is until you realize how she's products originally go for. Just a quick look on GoPro site shows you that GoPro puts a premium price on its products. And additional battery cost 20 pounds, while these lens filters cost 80 pounds, I feel this aspect of the service is best suited to those who want to dive into new GoPro ecosystem and try out their accessories and mounts. For those looking to save money, it might be better to stick with third party accessories. Another benefit included is being able to create a private link to your live stream, which can be shared with anyone for comfortable viewing. And that's an overview of the Go Pro subscription service. While the unlimited cloud storage is excellent, the total camera replacement and 50% off are not as good as what you may have initially fault. In my opinion, I don't think the services worth it for the average GoPro user or for those multiple Go Pro's had who used it often is worth it. On to the next lesson.
