2. What Is a Goal?: In order for us to
begin setting goals, we need to understand
what exactly a goal is. A common misconception
most people have is between
desires and goals. So desire is something
that's vague. It's disordered, it's
fantastical to dream or a want or feeling that you
have that comes and goes, where a goal is an objective, that is detailed,
measurable, time-bound. And specifically, what
makes an objective a goal versus a desire
is that it is specific, it is measurable, attainable,
relevant, and time-bound. Essentially, a goal must follow the smart framework
in order for it to be a goal and not a desire
or something else. Now we have a whole section on smart goals that
we'll cover later. They'll purpose of this is just to understand
the difference between the desires that
you have and goals. Another way of thinking about it is that your goals are gonna be the vehicle that help you to achieve your desires in life. So your desires are gonna
help you develop goals, and those goals
are going to help you to achieve those desires. It all makes sense
here in a moment, but ultimately it just a
simple framework of mine to have in laying the framework as we get into more
and more concepts. So this is just a simple
frame of mind to have as we move into more and more
concepts and build on this. So I hope you're excited. That being said, let's go
and get to the next video.
3. Determining What You TRULY Want: With Iike guy in mind, we now have a better
understanding of our work and how to find more fulfillment in our work and
therefore our lives. And with this concept in mind, we know that our
relationships influence our work or health influences our work and our wealth
influences our work. And at the same time, of course, our work influences
our relationships. It influences our health,
both mental, emotional, physical, as well as our wealth. So with this in mind, when we're setting
goals for work, we have to keep in mind our ultimate goals in
life because again, both are not separate. They're completely
joined together working as an extremely
important part of life. So because
relationships, health, and wealth are three
of the biggest amount, the biggest categories within your life that work
directly influences. We'd get crystal clear
on exactly what we desire and want out of
these three areas in our life to then create
our work goals that help us to get closer to
that ultimate desired life. So to be more specific, what I'd encourage you to
do right now after this video is in the relationship category,
take out a piece of paper. This could be on a
Google Doc, write down relationships and
get as detailed and specific about the type of relationships that you
want to have in your life because your work should
be helping support your ultimate relationships
versus taking away from it. The same is true of
every category. So e.g. here's some prompts to help you. What kind of romantic
and intimate relationships do
you want to have? How much time per
week do you want to be spending with
friends and family? What do you want to
be doing, right? And how often, what kind of spiritual practices do you
want to partake in and how often as well do you wanna go to weekly Sunday school or also Sunday school on Sunday
or whatever that looks like. You want to have pets. How many how much time
do you spend per week? What kind of people do
you want to be working with and how long do you want
to be working with them? How do you want to be giving
back to your community and those people that
are around you that may not necessarily be
your friends or family. Now, what a lot of people do at this step is to
get really scared. They're like who? Like, I already know the
answer to a lot of these. I almost feel that as I go through this list and we just
start with relationships, we still have health and
wealth to go through. It. It gets really
scary because we have very high expectations
like, Oh, well, ideally here's exactly
what I want in my relationships and my
health and my wealth. Here's exactly what I
want and I know that my life is not living up to
those desires that I have. So it gets really
scary. And then we think, oh, it's
on attainable. But that's the whole point here. We are painting and extremely specific
and clear picture of what we want in life. Very, very measurable. And then we're creating
goals that are gonna help us get to where
we are right now, as you saw in that image before, we look at this big mountain and it's almost overwhelming. It's huge, it's so far away. That's the light that we
ultimately want to live. So our work goals and
our life goals as well, because both are intertwined, is going to be the
vehicle that gets us from where we are now into that life that we want to
ultimately help us get closer and closer to Iike guy and ultimately a more
fulfilled, joyful life. So don't be intimidated by this. Be as honest as possible. That's the key here, is just be honest about all of these. These are just some prompts. We have relationships with our
friends or family members, with animals, with
God, with all of that. Kind of think about that
in detail and write down your relationships and we'll do the same thing as
well for health. So how do you want to feel waking up in the morning
and going to bed? How often do we want to be
exercising and what exactly do we want to be doing for food? How much do we want
to be cooking at home versus eating out? What kind of leisure activities
or hobbies do we have? How often do we want to
be doing this activity? How many hours per week are there any skills
you want to learn? Maybe guitar or another language or whatever that might be. What kind of vacations
Do you want, if any? Where do you want to go? How long do you want to spend? Your clothing and
personal style? What do you want
that to look like? And some of these you may
already be achieving, right? And doing really great in
that and that's amazing. And some of these may
seem insignificant, but each of these is
extremely important. Again, we cannot improve and achieve what
we don't measure. So even if it sounds
silly, write it down, get as detailed as possible in some of these areas are gonna be way more important
to you than others because each
person is different. The key here is to be
specific and you can see exactly how this plays in
to setting your goals. I promised we're going to get
to some of the meat soon. But this is the first
important step. And then lastly, we have wealth. What kind of house
you want to live in, how big your rooms,
how many features? I'd also encourage you to ask why to each of
these questions. Why do we want to
have that size? Why that many rooms? Why those features? Work environment? Do you want to be working
outside or inside? If you are working inside, you want more of an open area. Do you want your own office? Would you like to be
working from home, from Airbnb is around the world
like I'm doing right now. What is best for you? How many hours do
you realistically want to be working per week? And this is a super
important point that I just want to call out. I'm good friends
with a man named Neil Huffman who
was on Shark Tank. And he's most known for creating a toy called munch on a bench. As he puts it, It's
like alpha on a shelf, but for the Jewish community. So basically it's the
stuffed doll that tells the story of Hanukkah
to Jewish kids. Really great idea and he's made millions
of dollars doing it. He told me he's like Sumner, I'm working 10 h a week
and I'm miserable. I want to be working more. So again, like we
said with Iike guy, a lot of times we
separate our work from our life where they're
completely joined in. Work should be fulfilling
us and supporting us, not sucking and taking away. So before we even get
into setting work goals, we need to kinda
keep that in mind. Otherwise where it's
kinda digging holes are running and sprinting, but we don't even know if we're sprinting in the
right direction. So when it comes to
working hours per week, many people think 0's, I want to work 0 h per week. That is not the case. If you're really enjoying, you're good at what you do. You love, what you do. You are getting paid. Well,
it's good for the Earth. You will want to do it many, many hours a week for everyone
is little bit different. For some people
that might be 40 h for some people
that might be ten. But to the best of your ability right now, even though
you don't know, because it's a future goal or future desire that we
can turn into a goal. Here, write that down. How many years do you
want to be working or maybe that you
have to be working. Are you aware of retirement? When do you want to be retired? In the sense that you
don't have to work, to have to earn a
living anymore. What kind of vehicle
do you want? How much? Again, asking the
question for y. So I know this might
be a little bit tense. We got right into it, but it's extremely important to do and you're going to see
why in the next video. So go ahead right now. Before we get to
the next video in each category, write it down. I prefer to do so physically and we'll talk a
little bit more about the power of physical
writing in a later lecture. But go ahead and do
this exercise now. And then I'll see you
in the next video.
4. The Big Domino: By now, we have a very
detailed description of what we want our
lives to look like, which our work goals are ultimately going to support
and not take away from. Now when we actually go to start setting our work goals,
how do we go about that? How do we choose a goal to
set and then start achieving? In order to do this,
we need to keep in mind the big domino concept. Again, another
life-changing concept that was developed
by Tim Ferriss, who is a multi,
multi-millionaire. He's the creator of the
four-hour workweek, the four-hour shaft
for outer body, an angel investor and a very, very interesting guy by the way, I'd really encourage you
to look more into him and a goal-setting machine
and something that he said that it's totally changed my life since
I've implemented it, is what is the single
thing, the big domino, that makes every other goal easier or completely obsolete. So that's the kind of mindset
that you want to have when you're selecting
a work goal to achieve because there's an infinite number of
goals that you can create and start
setting and achieving. But what's the best one? The best one is
that single thing, that big domino that's going to knock down all of the other
goals or make them easier. Okay, what does that look like? And to give you a
specific example of a big domino in our own life. So my wife and I decided
that for our big domino, generating $10,000 per month
in semi passive income, working on very
specific projects. So in our specific case, that was YouTube content, online course creation at the digital downloads
and affiliate income. So that kinda combined
generating $10,000 a month, working 15 h per week
or less for each of us. Ultimately, it was going to
knock down and achieve all of the other smaller goals
or desires that we wrote down and had for health,
wealth, and relationships. Why? Well, number one is by
working fewer hours per week. So we enjoy the work that
we're doing during that time. So we're getting
fulfillment from that. We are passionate, We enjoy it. It's ultimately
having an impact, or at least we believe so, and ultimately achieving ISI guy and really fulfilling
AS number two, it's able to fund the
lifestyle that we want. How much we want
to be traveling, where we wanna be living, how many kids that we want
to have and all of that. Because we can still
work more hours and generate more
income and all that. But it achieved those goals. We can have as many
pets as we want, right? Because we have less time
to spend with friends, with family members,
et cetera, right? So we have the time side with our relationship
side with their health. That's more opportunity
for me if I'm only working 15 h a week
or that I only have to work 15 h. I can spend the other hours
going to the gym, working out, researching more on my physical and
mental health. So for us, we determined
that this big Domino was going to help
us in health, wealth, and relationships
and ultimately make nearly everything easier
or completely obsolete. So that's just a
specific example. And the idea here is, well, it's not perfect. And this is going
to start off as a desire and we're going
to turn it into a goal. You just heard me
mentioned somewhat of a smart goal except it was
missing the timeframe, but we'll go over smart
goals and turning this big domino is big desire that you have into an
actual achievable goal, or taking the big domino, breaking it out into
step-by-step sequences, and then achieving
the first step of that goal, achieving it, moving to the next
step and so on, and ultimately achieving
the big domino. So this is one
example, but it gives you a completely
separate example. I have a good friend
of mine who built an eight figure private
label products business. His big Domino was
not income related, his big Domino was
mental health-related. And specifically to
make this measurable, his goal was to get
to the point to where every day he would
rank on a scale 1-10, his overall mood and
emotions right in the morning when he woke
up in the middle of the day and at night
before he went to sleep. Right. So kind of tracking his mood and his emotions and mental
state throughout the day. And he wanted his goal is to get to the point
to where on average, every week his average score was eight or higher every
single week consistently. Because for him he
realized, okay, if I can work on my
mental health and just achieve that specifically
with where I currently am with
my current work or my current relationships than making a lot more money doesn't matter nearly as much to me. The type of job status that I have doesn't matter
as much to me. And all of these other things. It was really
interesting approach. I have a different
approach and that's the point is it's gonna be
different for everybody. But maybe your big
domino has to deal with your mental health first
or your physical health. And then all these
other smaller Domino's, these other details
that you wrote in the previous section
on your health, wealth and relationships
makes them easier or even
completely obsolete. Okay, so just a couple of
ways of thinking about it. There is no right answer. There's no like
this is the answer. It's gonna be completely
dependent on you, but hopefully those examples
provide some clarity. And now, with a clear description
you have on your life, go ahead and write
down a big goal again, this is gonna be a
desire right now. We're going to turn
it into a gold later. But what is the ultimate thing
that if you achieve this, then all the other things in your life
will become easier. So go ahead, take a moment, write that down, and
once it's finished, we'll go ahead and get
to the next video.
5. SMART Goals vs. Poor Goals: At this point, we now have our big domino written
down somewhere. It doesn't need to
be perfect, might be really vague and general, but we're going to turn this
big domino into a goal. And remember, in order for a desire to become a goal
and for us to create a goal, it needs to be smart. And again, that means
that a goal is specific. It's measurable. So we can actually measure it in terms of time achievement. It's actually
attainable, of course, because we can't achieve
it, then what's the point? It's not a goal, it's a
dream, or it's an ideal. Needs to be relevant. So relevant to your
life and to your work, needs to be time-bound. There needs to be
a deadline for it. Otherwise, it's not a goal. It's just a dream. Someday. I'll live here when
someday I'll achieve this. Well when. So it follows all of these. Now, instead of just saying, Here's what a smart goal is, the best way that
I've found too. Describe it at least
for me to understand, is through examples. So I'll give you
some examples of a smart goal versus
a poor goal, right? Are really just a desire
or nothing really at all. So here's an example using some more typical
work-related examples. So maybe even mini goals that
lead up to your big goal. So here we go.
Increase the number of completed projects
by 50% within the next six months
by implementing a new project
management system and providing training to the team. Okay? So you can see that
extremely specific. We can measure it
completed projects by 50% time-bound within
the next six months. We'll assume that it's
relevant here because we don't know and it meets the
entire smart framework. Here's an example
of a poor goal. Finished more projects quickly
and efficiently, right? I want to become more efficient. I want to become
more productive. That's a poor goal,
that's a dream, that's an ideal, it's
not a smart goal. Move to another example. Improve team communication
collaboration by implementing a
weekly team meeting and adopting a new
communication tool, resulting in a 20% reduction in misunderstandings and
delays within three months. So very, very specific. It's measurable 20% reduction in misunderstandings time-bound within the next three months, we'll assume that it's relevant and that we can
actually achieve it. Poor goal, make the team work better together and
be more productive. Again, make people more
productive, increase sales. That's a poor goal. I'll move on to
one last example. And you can kind of use
these and then use this as a template to kinda build
for yourself, right? So you can just write this down, you'll kinda copy this
down and then insert your own goal here into the smart goal to make a
poor goal into a smart goal. Lastly, we have
secure a promotion to a managerial position within the next 12 months by completing a leadership
training course, taking on additional
responsibilities and demonstrating strong performance
in this current role. Within the next 12 months,
I'm going to complete this measurable leadership
training course. I can achieve it. It is relevant to me
and it is time-bound. So that is a smart goal. A poor goal, get promoted, soon, become a boss.
Pretty general. I think you get the picture by this point of a smart
goal versus a poor goal. In my view, it's not
just a smart goal. It is the only goal. If it does not follow
the smart framework that we've just gone through, then am I view it as either an objective and
ideal or an opinion? It's not a goal. So now at this point, you're going to take
your big domino that you've written down and
turn it into a smart goal. Now the one caveat that I
want to mention with this is a lot of times when
we're developing our, our big lofty goals
that it might be so massive that actually we need to break it down into
smaller goals, right? And it really depends
on your situation and how big that goal is. But you can literally think
about it in a physical sense. The bigger a goal, the more broken
out that big goal needs to be in order to achieve. So it's ultimately up to you. Of course, if you have
questions, let me know in the Q&A section and I'm more than happy to
help and give you some insights and help
you through this. But take your big domino and create a smart goal if you're having
a lot of trouble, if it's a too big to grasp and you're having
difficulty with it, then consider breaking
it out, like okay, so first I need to achieve this. Then when I get this e.g. this promotional role, then I can start working
this many hours, which then enables me to
start my own business, which then enables me to
whatever that might be. I'm totally making it up, but it might need to
be in sequences. So kind of break down into a slightly smaller
pieces and then make that your big domino because
that'll be your big domino, your one kind of Northstar
you'll be aiming for. And once you achieve that, then you'll know you
already have it written down that you already have
the next goal after that. Okay? So again, hopefully
that makes sense. Of course, if you
have questions, let me know in the Q&A section, but I think things will
become even more clear in the next video so
that further ado, let's go ahead and get to it.
6. How to Properly Set "Stretch" Goals: Remember back to our
smart goal framework. So in order for a
goal to be smart, focus on the key element
there of attainability. So when suddenly a goal, it needs to fall
under two parameters. So it's the left. We have a goal
that's easy, right? You're telling yourself,
oh, that's easy. I'll be able to do
that. No problem. On the other end, we have
you saying, Oh my goodness, this feels impossible, this
is impossible. I can't do it. These are two extremes and our goal needs to
fall in the middle. Yes, it's very simple, somewhat obvious concept,
but is extremely important. Especially because what I find is most people who are setting goals are much more on
the lower end of all. I can do that for sure. If
you're telling yourself your goal is easy,
it's no problem. I got this. It's way too easy for
you. You just stretch yourself a little bit and
that's the whole point of this, is your goal should
absolutely stretch you a bit. You shouldn't be
thinking, getting a little bit of nerves, a little bit of
heaviness, not too much. When you think about
your goal of like, okay, this is going to
stretch me a little bit. This is going to force
me to be dedicated. This is going to force
something out of me that I haven't
really done before. That's where you want to be. That's the best zone to be in, because that's where
growth happens. Otherwise, if you always do
what you're capable of doing, you will literally never grow. It's mathematically impossible. So I encourage you to stretch
yourself a little bit, but don't go over the top. You're like, okay, this year
is my year, today is my day. I'm going to just go for it and go for something that's
really unattainable. You start, get defeated early and then
ultimately give up. So there's kinda two extremes of even if you achieve your
goal that's super easy. That's better than not
achieving any goals. So I will say that however, the issue that
most of us have is that we're aiming too high in missing is that we're aiming too low and we're
hitting our target. If we aim too high and get a
little bit below our goal, that is significantly
better and we're much further ahead
than if we aim too low and reach that low goal because we could
have always achieve more. And guess what time
that you spent achieving that small goal
that was super easy. You could have been spending that time achieving a
much more lofty goal. And ultimately, you're never
getting that time back. So it's extremely, extremely important because time is
our most valuable resource. If you lose it, you're
never getting it back. So because of that, you
want to kind of orient your goal somewhere in the middle here,
where the middle is, is ultimately up
to you, but it's another kind of frame of mind to have when setting your goal
and creating your goals. So hope you found this valuable. If you have questions
let me know in the Q&A section or
that being said, let's go ahead and get
to the next lesson.
7. How To Use AI for Goal Setting: I hope you're excited
because in this tutorial, I'm gonna show you how to
use artificial intelligence to determine and set the
best goals humanly possible. You could do this all for free. So right here on my screen, I have chat GBT. If you're not already
familiar, chat CBT is one of the number one, if not the most popular AI or artificial
intelligence tools. And one of the big functions
of this tool is basically you can input a
lot of text data. The tool is going
to automatically analyze the text and then give you recommendations
based on your inputs, which I'll show you
how this works. It's actually extremely
simple, easy to use. Just as easy as Google just works a little
bit differently. So currently charging 100% free, and I hope they maintain this. You can get a link
to chat and beauty in the description
section below, in the resources
section, you can find that and create your
own free account. And here's what we're gonna do. Really simple and
really, really powerful. So first, once you create a
chance you'd be T-account. Go ahead and somewhere online. This can be on your
notes or in Google Docs, or wherever it might be, is just pour your heart out, right out where you
currently are in your life, when it comes to your
health, your wealth, and your relationships, write it in as much
detail as possible, which by this point, you've
likely already have done. Next is okay, this is,
this is where we are. Here, is, here's where I am, here's all of the information. And then right here is
where I want to be. And then right where you
want to be in health, wealth, and relationship
in those areas. So where you are now in those
categories and then where you wanna be and be as
descriptive as possible. That's the key here. So it's a little bit
of work, just writing, but it's just writing down. It doesn't need to be
perfectly organized, doesn't even need to be
chromatically correct at all. The AI tool is going
to automatically analyze this and I'm gonna
show you how this works. I've gone ahead
and already wrote down just to kind
of a basic example, like here's what we love,
Here's what we hate, here's what we want to be doing. Again, it doesn't need to
be in chronological format. Just kinda pull yourself out and the AI is going to be able
to pick up on all of this. And basically what
we're gonna do, let's just copy this over. So Command a to select
Command C to copy. Go to chat GBT. Here in send a message, click on Command V to paste. So basically, I have all the information here about where we are,
where we wanna be. And then I said, based on everything
I've described, is there any
additional information you'd like to ask me to
get a clear picture. Number two, what big
goal should we set that will help take us from the left we have now it's
the light that we desire. Number three, any additional interesting insights that
you'd like to share with us, you think we'd find valuable. You can ask more questions,
you can add more. The key here is be as
detailed as possible. The more data, the
more detail you give chat GBT about your life, the better it's going
to be able to help you. Now watch this. I'm
just gonna hit Enter. As you can see, look how
fast this tool is running. And basically, shattered beauty is sort
of like a PhD student, is the best way I
can describe it. And you're basically
collaborating with this person,
with this expert. You could do this
for free. Like, Hey, I need some help. Please
help me to do this. And there's a lot of
other functionality that chat TBT does as well. As you can see. How
do you know if you've given the AI tool
enough information? It'll tell you, Hey, some
additional information. You know, what's your
current financial situation? What do you have any specific
skills and interests we haven't mentioned which you
utilize, generate income. Are you open to invest in
different assets, right? Like to diversify your
income streams to really good questions that
maybe I didn't think about. And then I can add more detail and then rerun the response. But I'm leaving some
information out because I'm giving you
my personal information, but I want to give
everything away because some of it's
a little bit private. So here's the
additional information that we should maybe include
to get even better results. But look at what we do here. So number two, we asked
Chad CBT for the big goal. So big goal, a possible big goal that can help you
transition from the life you desire is creating a
comprehensive plan to increase your passive
income streams while reducing your active
involvement and your business. This plan should
include increasing your efficiency and automation
of your current business. This may involve outsourcing certain tasks using technology
to automate process and focus on
high-value activities if you can interact
with this tool. So I can follow up and
say like, you know, what, what what specific tech null Gs would you would
you recommend? I use to outsource tasks? I don't like. And it can literally
give me a list. So maybe that's like part of my big goal or what
my next goal is. I need to learn this technology so that I can implement it, so that I can achieve my bigger
goal if that makes sense, maybe that's one
of my milestones, is learning and using this tool. So some different
task platforms. So anyway, I'm reading this and I'm interacting
like a conversation. So I'm reading, I'm like, oh, how could this help? So they already given me
a couple of platforms where I can outsource tasks. Really cool. For
virtual assistance. I haven't even heard of these juice that's
really interesting. And for automation tools
are giving me those with the links that I
can actually click, which is really powerful. This is really cool. Actually,
I'm learning right now. So again, this is all real. So this is going to
be helpful to me. Anyway, That's going
to keep generating. We can kinda skip that for now. So big goal, okay, so a, it should, it should be about automating
and outsourcing. B should be about diversifying my income streams
into real estate, property, and other
assets that align with our goals. Very interesting. See is we need to
have an exit strategy for our private label business to maximize our selling price. Very good point and
have a clear plan for personal development
including learning Portuguese, improving
your fitness. That's a little bit vague. It's not really as helpful, but some other interesting
insights consider collaborating with other content creators are entrepreneurs. This can help you learn
from their experience, grow your social media presence, establish healthy
work-life balance by setting boundaries and allocating specific time for relaxation and personal growth. So that's something
that maybe I need to do right now because maybe I'm
not doing as good of a job. Look into hiring a
virtual assistant or small team to handle some
of the tasks we dislike. Since you enjoyed
teaching others, develop more courses and
coaching services in this area. Remember, achieving your
desired lifestyle, make you. So some of it maybe
not that helpful, maybe some things
that I already knew. But there's a lot of interesting insights
that come from this. And remember, I didn't
include a ton of details. There's still a
lot of details up here that I was missing. That should include if I
want even better results, which I'm gonna be
doing after this video. But already, you
can kinda see with it for free within seconds. Really great. It's
like, it's like you have these
thoughts in your head. You're like, I'm trying to get all my thoughts that I have all these feelings in my heart. I have all these
thoughts in my head. Everything's kinda
swimming around. This is just a great place. Instead of just
writing things down, you're writing this down and
you can do this in private. You don't have to
talk somebody else. They're gonna give you
their own personal opinion. This is going to give
you a very rationalized, very comprehensive opinion. And it parses data to where it takes all these individual
words and the way that you wrote it and all
of these things and puts it together in a way
that a human brain can't. It's very, very cool. So the more detail you give it, the more insightful
it's gonna be. And this is super
helpful when I'm determining goals to set
what I should be setting. And I can even ask like okay, like of these sub-goals
a through what was it? They gave me where it was. If we go back up to scrolling,
is what I'm doing here. So a, B, C, D, a through D, which should I focus
on first, why? This is a conversation, right? So there's anything
that you have questions about they
feel is missing, that you want to
get more clarity to just do it and it's
back-and-forth. So based on the
sub-goals a through D, I recommend starting
with increasing the efficiency and automation
of your current business. Focusing on this goal will help reduce
the time and effort to manage the existing
income streams. And you'll create more
sustainable and passive income. This will give you more
time and energy to pursue other goals, right? So, yeah, so it's
reordering in order from most important to maybe not as important or
what I should do first. Because if I automate
my business, it's going to help make all of these other goals easier
or obsolete, right? Kinda like that big domino. And you can also
describe the big domino to charging party. They're going to
understand it and they're going to implement that. So again, like I said, you could go down so many
rabbit holes with this tool. It's an amazing, amazing tool. I spent so much time here and I can't rave
about it enough. But yeah, it's continuing
to kind of generate so really powerful
against called chat GPT. This is kinda how to use
it. And just to recap, Number one, write down
your current life, health, wealth,
and relationships, and then where you want to be in as much detail as possible. Go to chat GPT, enter that in and then ask charge
should be t43 things. You can ask for more.
Any other information that I should be giving you
to make it clear, picture. Number two, what big goal
should I be setting that's going to help me go from my current life
to the better life. And then three
additional insights. As the one last, final
insight or something really, really cool you can
use with this tool is I had a friend who uploaded three years worth of
his journal entries. He kept a digital journal, took all that data
uploaded into chat GPT. I said, Hey, act like
you're a psychologist and give me insights that
can help improve my life. Extremely detailed and
interesting insights like e.g. when you come to obstacles, you usually try to find a quick fix that's
gonna be temporary. Instead of working harder to
find a long-term solution. And he's like, oh my
gosh, I actually do that. I never realized that. That was just an
interesting insight that he gained from that. But there's endless,
really, really powerful. Just hope I opened the door
a little bit to you and showed you a very specific
way on how to use this tool, which is extremely powerful. So I hope you found
this video valuable. You have any questions
let me know in the Q&A section of
that being said, let's go ahead and get
to the next lesson.
8. Breaking Down Your Big Goal: You may be looking
at the goal that you've set and realizing, okay, this is a little
bit intimidating. I know that I can achieve this, but it's a lot. How do I ultimately
get from where I am to achieving this
lofty goal that I have. So it sounds cliche,
but this is so very true and it's an
extremely important quote. The journey of 1,000 mi
begins with a single-step. Think about that. That's mathematically correct. You can't go with 1,000 mi
without taking a single step. You can take them
motorized vehicle, but that's aside from the point. Small pieces. That's
the point here. What we're going to do
is break down our large, big domino or big goal into
small bite-sized pieces. Because when this, Let's say this giant platter of food just massive could
fill out entire house. Or how am I going to
eat all this food? You take one bite a day
or a few bites a day. Well, that's manageable
for the next year. It's like, Oh, I could do that. It's breaking it down into
manageable bite-size pieces. How do we do that? Very simple. Most people don't
talk about this, but like I said, it's
all mathematics. So number one is take your goal and to the
best of your ability, breakdown that goal into the chronological steps that
are needed to achieve it. So like what are all the
things that need to be executed on or happen in order
to achieve your big goal. Step one, step two, and so on, again to the best
of your ability. So write down all the steps in as much detail as possible. And you can even break down
each step into subsets, but just break down that
goal into step one, step two, step three, and so on. It'll take some time,
you'll start writing down and then you'll realize, oh wait, I need to add
this step in, right? So it's a little bit of a brainstorming process,
but ultimately, you should get to a
literal list of steps that you need to achieve in order to ultimately achieve
that end goal. Now what do we do? So we know the
steps for our goal. Remember, is a smart
goal, so it's time-bound. We know the deadline
for our goal. So what we're gonna do is divide the total steps by the number of weeks that we
have to achieve our goal, and that's gonna give
us our weekly goals. Now you can also break
this down even further into daily goals, right? But let's say that I have 52, 52 things that I need to do
in order to achieve my goal. I want to achieve it this year. So there's 52 weeks in a year. I have 52 steps that I
can do accomplish that. I know each week I have
one specific step, one specific action
item that I need to do each week and keep doing it
consistently every week. And within 52 weeks, all those steps will be
completed and all have achieved our ultimate goal. So obviously, when you actually
put this into practice, it won't be as clean
and simple as this, but this is the mindset
you want to take and ultimately actually
go through this process, actually do it because it's really going to bring clarity. And you're gonna do this to
the best of your ability. And like I said, you'll
know what you need to do on a weekly basis. From there each week. You can kind of break
that down either at the beginning of
the week, right? Or what I like to do is
like on Saturday or Sunday, I then plan out, alright, I know what I
need to do this week. Here's all the things. I'm going to break it out
into those specific days. I know exactly every day. Here's what I need to do
to achieve this goal. Okay, So that's the way to mathematically go about this and take that journey of 1,000
mi into single steps. So go ahead, get out
a sheet of paper. Do this, and I'll see
you in the next video.
9. Halfway Announcement!: Congratulations. If you're watching this,
you've officially made it to the halfway
point of the course. And truly this is
an honor because a very small percentage of students actually
make it this far. So hats off to you. I hope you are excited about the content you've
consumed thus far. We have a lot more to come and just want to ask
here that you've made to the halfway point and had enough time to get a
feel for the material. If you wouldn't mind
taking a few moments to leave your honest feedback here, that'd be extremely
beneficial to us to know what
we're doing well, what we can improve upon and ultimately help
other students. So like I said, hope you've
been finding this valuable. There's any way that I can
help let me know I really appreciate your support
and are excited for you. So with that being
said, let's go and get to the next video.
10. 4 Proven Ways to SKYROCKET Your Chances of Success: Let me ask you a question. How badly do you want to achieve your big,
audacious goal? Well, in this section we're
going to talk about how to mathematically increase your chances
of achieving your goal, achieving it faster, better,
and more efficiently. And this is actually my favorite
section, super powerful, just some little
hacks that you can implement and see
immediate results. So number one, very
interesting study by Google, analyzing their own workforce
found that on average, their employees
who set goals fell 30% below the goal targets. They said, increasing customer satisfaction
by certain percentage, generating certain amount of growing sales by certain amount, growing a team by
certain number, getting a certain number
of users on the platform, whatever that might be. On average, the workforce was 30% below the ultimate
goal that they set. So you've already set your
goal and you've done it. And that's why I've only
introduced this topic later. So didn't mess with your goal-setting
process to this point b. Now you have your goal. You've been very
honest with yourself. Well, the reality is, we tend to
overestimate even when we think we're maybe
underestimating a little bit. Whenever we think
we're being realistic, we're usually below
or above with the actual average dataset is. With this data
point, think about your goal and set it 30% above. So let's say I had
a goal of want to grow monthly revenue
to $100,000, then maybe I would set that goal somewhere around $130,000, knowing that there's
a good chance I'm going to fall
below that goal. So I'm going to set my
goal a little bit higher. So whatever your goal is,
that measurable aspect. Remember the M in
smart goals set it around 30% higher than
what you currently have. And by the way, I found this is absolutely true
in my own life. It's not always going to
be exactly this case, but it's a good overall
principle to have that we tend to over or underestimate
reality as human beings. And it's unavoidable,
but this kinda helps us to combat that a little bit. Next, amazing statistic,
you are 42% more likely to achieve
your goal if you write it down on physical paper. So I know I'm big with using all different kinds of
tools and digital products. I still love to use my notebook because it is so powerful, especially for brainstorming and definitely for goal-setting. So I encourage you
like right now, pause the video, get out a notebook somewhere,
even a post-it note. Write down that goal, That's smart goal is specific,
measurable, attainable. All of that onto
a piece of paper. And that alone is going to help you increase your chance
of achieving that goal, which is amazing,
super-fast, very, very high ROI from
your endeavors. And to take it a step further, take that piece of paper and put it somewhere
that you look at often, this can be on your refrigerator,
your bathroom mirror, your office desk or cubicle or your office
wherever it might be. An even better yet put it
in multiple locations. Because the more that you
look at this written goal, the more likely, even more so
you've already achieved it. So a couple of hacks,
pack number three, you are 65% more likely to achieve your goal if
you share it with at least one family
member or friend, somebody that you're close to, somebody that you really
admire, that you like. Share this with at
least one person. What I recommend doing. And this is a little
bit scary, right? It's like, Oh, but what if I fail? And that's
the whole point. When you have others
looking at you, hey, I'm going to
achieve X, Y, and Z. By this date, you
literally have a target. Everyone can look at
the target with you. So number one, on one end, it kinda gives you
a little bit more of this fear motivation a little bit and
maybe this kind of negative stimuli, but
it's not negative, right? To empower you to
achieve your goal. But the aspect I really loved
that a lot of people don't think about is when you set your goal
and you tell people, let's say you make a
post on social media, you talk about with
friends and family, say, Hey, I just want to
let you know I have this goal, then I'm
setting for work. It's really, really
important to me because it's going to
influence my life. I'm just telling you
because a number one, that's going to help me, but if there's any
way that you can kind of help me
achieve this goal, I'd really appreciate it. You don't have to
tell people directly. This can just tell them,
Hey, here's my goal. I want to make it
public just so I have this accountability to
help me achieve it better. And there's that kind of motivating factor behind where you have all these eyes
on you, watching you. But at the same time that
people don't take into account is there's gonna
be people supporting you. People are going to be
watching, but they're also going to be
supporting. How can I help? You know, you're
going to inspire and motivate others when they
see you achieving your goal. By the way, even if
you fall a little bit short of your goal
or something happens. And there's obstacles
which we'll talk about in a later lecture. There's still gonna be on
board with you and help you, not just on this goal,
but your future goals. It's really, really powerful, important, this is
probably my biggest tip. Most people don't do it
because it sounds awkward. Who does that? That's weird. Maybe just for New
Year's, right, and no other time whenever
you're setting a goal, share it with people around
you that care about you. That's the key posts
on social media. You'll talk about it
with friends and family. And ultimately, it's
going to help you. And it's going to
make the process more fulfilling and
enjoyable as well. So it's really, really powerful. Now this final hack is
something that I do and there's a lot more science coming out that backs this. This is not the
law of affirmation or visualization or
anything like that, that kind of like
spiritual aspect. This is very, very much
priming your subconscious. So what I encourage you to do is to either be written texts, but I like to do
is I already have my goals written down
on a Post-It note. It's on my my bathroom. It's in the office area
that I'm working with changes because we're
traveling and so on, right. Refrigerator, but also
on my smartphone. Then I changed the background to an image that
reflects my big goal, my main goal that I'm trying
to achieve at the moment. So in this case, this
is actually a literal, actually, to be
totally transparent. Download this from Google. This is someone else's
Amazon sales results. So for our company, we
wanted to grow sales on the Amazon channel to
$110,000 per month by x, y and z date through
x, y and z tactics. But because of that, we wanted
to grow or Amazon revenue. Knowing that I need
to kind of visualize above in order to
achieve that goal, what I did is I went online
and liberties downloaded these phenomenal
Amazon sales results. And I change this and
it currently is at this moment by
smartphone background. And the purpose of this
sounds a little bit silly, but this is definitely true
by the way, I have found. Once you do this over time, you will notice that
you start to change. Basically when you surround
yourself with your goal. And this is even
in digital ways, you're more likely to achieving that goal because you're telling your subconscious we've
already achieved it or hey, this is what we need
to be working toward. And just by not
even looking at it, but kinda glancing at it, right subliminally all the time every day you
constantly stimulate yourself anytime you open your smartphone to
visualize your goal, it's there All rounds you've
written down as well. Your friends might
be talking about, or at least you've talked
with them one time or all of these things
are happening in unison. You're surrounding
yourself with your goal. Your goal is being
achieved right now, right? You can literally visualize it and you're feeling
it happening. And that's all working on
your mind to help you. And basically what
happens is, well, the theory is you're priming
your subconscious and your subconscious kind of secretly subliminally
finds ways. It orients herself
with relationships or with your energy
moves at night and in the morning to ultimately
sort of in a good way, manipulate yourself
and your environment into setting yourself into a better position to achieve that goal if that makes sense. I hope I didn't just
make it too confusing. But that's kinda the whole point of this and
you could do it if you want. It's completely up to you. But I'm telling you if you
do all of these things, you will 100% dramatically increase the likelihood
of achieving your goal. You will achieve it faster
and more enjoyable. That's why this is
my favorite section. Very, very simple to do. So few people do it. So please, right now,
pause this video, go with your goal and change
your background image. Go write it down, put it on your fridge, put it on your bathroom. Go tell somebody
right now about it. And I promise you this
is going to help you increase your
chances of success. Now, just because
it's my opinion, because it's back in
data and science. So I hope you found this valuable superpower
you'd like hacking life. It's really, really powerful. And I'm very excited to see the results that
you get from this. Let me know also
how this works out for you in the Q&A
section as well. So with that being said,
I hope you're excited. Let's go ahead and get
to the next lesson.
11. Goal Setting App: Some students were asking about a goal setting and tracking app. So obviously I don't have one
that I've created myself, but there are a lot of
great free apps out there. And one of my favorites, specifically for
goal-setting for work is this one you
see on the screen, which is called Goals
wizard by Brian Tracy. And go ahead and click to open. So like I said, this is
currently a free app and I anticipate that it
will remain this way. You have to pay to upgrade
for other features, but there's no really reason to do that unless
you really want to. So I'll show you how
this works and this applies to a lot of other
goal-setting apps as well. So first thing we're
gonna do is click on the goals icon at the
bottom of the screen. Next, what you'll do is in the plus sign at the top right. Click on that. And you're going to
choose a goal category. The most popular for this
specific app is work in Korea. But you see the other ones here. So go ahead and you can select, so say working career. You enter your goal to have some recommendations down
here, below as well. I've already gone through
and actually created a goal. So you're not to sit
through me typing a lot of texts to
save some time. So I'll show you what it
looks like when you create. So already, I've already created goal that you see right
here on the screen. When we're do is click
on the three dots here and click on Edit goal. Okay? So first things first
you're going to name your goal,
which I have here. Again, you want to use
the smart framework. You could summarize it and
then in the note section here, have a more detailed version. But I just go ahead and write the entire thing right here, right, using the smart
framework that we covered. Also, what's really cool is
you can change the image. You can upload a
picture like you see here, which I've already done. You have your starting date. So when did you start this goal and then also
your target date. When do you ultimately want
to complete this goal? So in this case, we're
setting January 1, 2023 to July 1, 2023. That is our goal. If there are numbers
involved with this, e.g. if this is revenue-related, and I can actually show you
if you click on units, right? Obviously, if you
wanted to lose weight, run a certain number of
miles, if you wanted to, maybe grow a certain
number of feet or inches, whatever that might
be, hours or minutes learning new topic, et cetera, and different
currency as well. You can go ahead and
select those units. In this case, this is
financial related, so we have our numerical target and what our starting value is. Next, you select a category, which you can kinda see here. And then you can choose a color. I'm very visual. I
like to have colors, especially if I have
multiple goals happening. Or I just like to choose
a color that really reminds me of that goal
and, and kinda see that. So we go ahead and
select orange, which represents our Amazon. And then you can
dig deeper. I do recommend that you do this. So answer these questions. So why is it important
or significant? What would you gain
by achieving it? What's the price you are
willing to pay to achieve it? What are the risks? What are the possible obstacles? Why haven't you achieved
this goal already? What's stopping you? And what can you do differently? Now, really, really great questions to ask for
any goal that you're setting that kinda helps
you be as best prepared as possible and maybe
think about things that you weren't planning on before. So very simple to set
up your big domino, your big overarching goal. Once all that's filled in, which doesn't take too long,
we're going to hit done. The next thing we wanna
do is go ahead and just click on that
title right there. So I'm just clicking
on the title. And instead of editing
now this leads us, as you can see,
we have the goal, but underneath you see all these white bars that have
flags to the left of them. These are milestones. So remember how we are
going to have our big goal. We're going to break them
down into milestones and then we're gonna break
those down into activities. So it's at the top level, like literally on the screen. We have our big goal
right here at the top. Then moving down we
have milestones and you can see underneath
the milestones like here for complete
product launch prep, we have activities. These are kind of our
day-to-day activity. So it can be your annual goals, milestones or monthly,
and then you have your weekly or daily
activities depending on how big the goal and how
soon you want to accomplish. But those three elements,
they're breaking down further. So we already have the goal set. So as you can see, I've already
set several milestones. Basically, what are
the steps that need to happen starting from day
one until the last day. What needs to happen to
ultimately achieve our end goal? All the way down through to
the best of our ability. I've already created
some here, but in order to create new milestones, all you do is at the very
bottom you see here, click on Add milestones.
Enter the name. So this could be like
develop product. Who develop product. Title for five. Products. Are developed title
for five products, make it a little bit shorter. You can have more details
here in the note. If there's a certain
target value, a number associated with this, you can enter that
in here, right? Select the proper measurement. That's like in dollars. And then really important where I usually do with the
title and then the date. By what date does this
need to be completed by? We didn't have dates for our milestones to make sure
that we're staying on track. You go ahead and you
can select that. I'm just going to select we'll do April 16th, we'll hit Done. And that's automatically
added in sequential order. So we're going to go up and
see if we can find that. Look at that April
16th right here, developed by product titles. That's our milestones. So we know by April 16th
we need to have five. Product title is developed. Now what I can do
this really cool is I can add an activity. So just to show you again, I click on those
three little dots there on the right-hand side. Click on Add Activity. And then we're going
to add an activity underneath this milestone. So basically, these milestones need to happen for our
big goal to happen. Then these activities
need to happen for a milestones that happen
for our big goal to happen. So we're just kinda
getting more and more granular down to the daily. So these should be really
more daily activities, or it can also be
weekly if you have a really big goal over
a long period of time. So this could be, you know, create one Amazon product title. I don't need any notes. It's pretty specific. Dates. This is going to be recurring. We're going to select daily.
So it's gonna be daily. And then it's going to
be once per day because we only need to make
one basically title, remember lead five
product titles. So I'm basically going to
allocate, look at my schedule. I'm like, Okay, I can
realistically do one product Tidal per day during these days. And we can set a
start and end date. So we're gonna kinda
work backwards. And I believe our goal
was for the 16th, so we're gonna go, that's 12345. If we want to kind of
be overachievers we do april be the 11th. Hit done. Hold on a second. At a routine just to
show you how to edit. So now we have our title. We have our start
date on April 11th. We have our end date which
needs to be on the 15th. There we go. You can add specific tags
that you like to make. Basically finding these
activities is easier, but I don't really
find it as important. You can add an image. Again, I don't really use it. I use it for the bigger
goals are bigger milestones, but not for the
activities priority. So certain tasks obviously will be more important
that it's like, okay, this one may be, can be moved a little
bit, not that you should, but if it needs to be
where others are like, no, this is extremely high priority. This cannot be moved. We need to make sure
that this gets done. So you can select
your priority there. You can also select colors. I like to do that because all select basically as I go
through, I'm very visual. At the start I have
like red and orange. And as our activities
progress and we get toward the last
activity is toward our goal. They get darker in color toward these blue and purple colors here. And that's just for me. Being visual is how I use
it because I like to see as it's getting darker and as
the color's getting cooler, I'm getting closer and
closer to my goal. I can visually see that and
feel that a little bit, but it likes that
totally up to you. And then these down here,
these adding reminders and sinking with your
Apple and Google Calendar. For now, this is part
of their paid version. So you could go ahead and
just recreate this in your own Google calendars
and things like that. Or you can kind of think
the app and upgrade for it. But for me, I just like using the app and I'll
show you how to use this. Instead of using
Google Calendar, you can just check into
the app once a day. It's really, really simple. I don't really see the huge need to pay to do that unless you really want to hear everything
looks good overall, we know that we need one
Amazon product title. We're gonna do it once per day from Tuesday until Saturday, and we're gonna get
everything done. Go ahead and hit Done
at the top right. And there we have
our activity right here underneath our milestone. So this is a
recurring activities and kinda see that indicated by this sort of recycled
sign on the left-hand side, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday, Friday. If we scroll down e.g. for this milestone complete
product launch prep. Basically this is daily, right? So on May 9th, I need to conduct Google and
Amazon keyword research. On May 10th, I need to create
the copy for or Google ads. This is one day. So either and I'll show you a couple
of ways of doing this. I'll show you my preferred way. The second way that
I don't prefer, as you can go in here,
right into your goal, scroll through and
make sure that you're completing each
milestone activity and you can go ahead and actually
mark off each milestone. So e.g. reach out to suppliers. If that's done, I'm going to
hit this flag. There we go. A congratulatory message
which I really love. And then, yeah, kinda
either disappears, it gets grayed out down here. Now let's say I haven't completed this or I
accidentally clicked it. I'm just going to
unclick and it's gonna send it back up
there as you can see. So that's in terms
of milestones. The same can be done
with activities underneath the milestones. So e.g. I've also completed Google and
Amazon keyword research. Maybe I even got it
done ahead of time. So go ahead and select that. Go ahead and select
that. There we go. Then it's going to
ask because there's only two activities
under the milestone. Hey, is this milestone complete? I want to say Yes, it's done. Boom, I get to
congratulate message. And it kinda grades
it out here because obviously this is
now complete, right? So it's a great way to reward. It's another little
dopamine spike, a little bit of a reward
going through this process, but I'll show you how to
do it in the calendar. So let me just uncheck these. So they appear. There we go. You just uncheck them
to bring them back. So we're gonna go
to the back bar. Now, what I recommend doing is on the far left click on today. So click on today. And as we will see as we go
through, right. So e.g. starting
here on the 17th, So 15th, there's
something that we have to do 16th or
something we have to do. But here on Monday on the 17th, I need to create one
Amazon product title. So basically, what I recommend
doing is once a day, just open the app, go to the Today tab here that I just clicked on again and just
check for your day. Let's say today is the 17th. I'm going to check in
and it's gonna show me, Okay, here's what I need to do today to accomplish my goal. Once I get that
complete, I'm gonna go ahead and check stout. And if we go back to our goals
tab there at the bottom, click on our goal, we will see that if we
scroll all the way down, should be great. I would
actually where to go? Right here. Okay. So that
should be good to go. Now in terms of some
of the other features, if we click here on the activities and the
bottom center of the screen, we can see all of our activities that
we've created again that lead up into our milestones. And that's just kinda shows all the little activities that we need to do moving forward. Either that have
already happened or that need to
happen in the future. So we just want to
see activities only. This is where you
would go. Also. Next, the activities, we
have a journal section. We can actually keep
specific notes or just kinda keep your journal or
diary of your thoughts. Whatever might be going on, different notes,
whatever it might be like, it's
literally infinite. But really what I use more is the goals obviously
to set up the goals, the milestones and activities. So that's number one. Then
number two is just the daily to make sure I'm
staying up-to-date everyday. But yeah, feel free to use these other features if you
find them valuable as well. But I really just
kinda use the first two and it makes it very, very simple, visual, clean, clear, you know exactly
what needs to be done when it needs to be done, and ultimately what you
get by achieving it. So I hope you found
this video valuable. If you have any questions or any comments,
please let me know. In the Q&A section
of that being said, let's go and get
to the next video.
12. THIS Is How You Avoid Burnout!: So we know what we need to do on a daily and weekly basis in order to ultimately
achieve our goals. But how do we stay on
track without getting burnt out, without
getting discouraged? How do we do this? Well, what we're
gonna do is based in neurology and we're
going to reward herself. And we're only going to
reward ourselves once we've actually achieved
those micro goals, those daily, weekly, and
monthly milestones that we've set and we've broken
down in the earlier chapters. Basically what we're
doing is we're training our brain to reward. Just like when a
dog does a trick, we give it food very similar to what we do
with our own brains. That when we achieve something, even if it's small, that
we reward ourselves. And the key here is
the reward should be proportionate to the
input and effort. So e.g. here's some examples
of daily rewards, right? So if you're accomplishing
your goals on a daily basis, right? You set daily goals. And everyday that you achieve
what you set out to do, go ahead and give
yourself a reward. And when you're
taking that reward, the best is to say
this out loud, but if you're in a public place, you can keep it to yourself. But say, I am, I am receiving this
because of X, Y, and Z because of
what I did today, because of the tasks
that I, that I overcame. So e.g. enjoying
some kind of treat, taking a longer
break than usual, taking a small celebration
with somebody, maybe with your, with your
spouse, with your kids. A specific relaxing activity
that you can maybe do at home if you take a hot shower
that you don't normally do. Again, this is the key is
it should be unique to when you're accomplishing your goals and it's good to mix
them up as well. Some self-care
time, taking a nap, maybe a small purchase, right? You get like a nicer coffee or whatever it might be, right? And this is
completely dependent. We just wanna give you some
real-world examples of what you can do to
reward yourself. Now I'm not telling you this
again, because number one, when you reward yourself on
a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis,
what's going to happen is obviously you're
going to enjoy the process more
because you know, a reward is coming and you're experiencing
it and this is great. But even more
importantly than that, or just as important is
you're training your mind. Your mind is going to become a goal-setting machine because it knows subconsciously
when it puts an effort, it's gonna get reward
for that effort. And it's going to turn
this machine that keeps going and going like
a snowball. Okay? So daily rewards, these are some examples to reward
yourself on a daily basis. Weekly rewards, little
bit of an upgrade. Maybe you have specific
weekly goals that you have. So at the end of every week, you've only if you've
achieved those goals, then you eat a
very special meal. You go out to eat, take a little day trip to a local orchard or hiking or
whatever that looks like. Whatever you're
into on the lake. Little tampering session, maybe a little massage
or little spa day. Take a new book or a course
that you really enjoy. I recommend Udemy courses
by Sumner Hobart. I've heard they're really great. Take up a new hobby. You want to learn another
language, a piano, whatever that looks like for me, taking up a new book or hobby that would actually
be extra work for me. For others. That's very
enjoyable activity. So it's ultimately up to you. What do you find
really rewarding? Some examples for
monthly rewards for when you achieve
those monthly milestones, which are really getting
into the big section here. Get a weekend getaway, attended special
class or workshop, invest in fitness, maybe it's
new equipment at your home. You get to a better gym or
a gym for the first time. A new experience you've never
done before, self-care day, you sign up for Hulu, whatever that might be, some
bigger monthly rewards. And then finally, again, just some examples of when
you achieve your big goal, which you are going to achieve. By the way, I'm
telling you this, you are going to achieve
that goal that you've just written down. You're
going to achieve it. And when you do, here's some
ways to reward yourself, aside from just the pleasure
that you're going to feel when you achieve that goal.
Take a dream vacation. They've always been
wanting to take, take some kind of large, meaningful purchase or
a luxury experience. Take a break. That's a great
way to reward yourself. And that's an amazing, It's very, very underrated, but take some time off. Contribute to a charity that
you're passionate about. Go to an event, create an event to celebrate
or even better yet, if you have a good friend
or family member that puts an event together for you. Again, just some examples that I've, that I've
thrown together here. And these are all by the way, things that I've done. Also with that being said, remember back to when
I mentioned to change the screen of your smartphone or even your laptop background. You can also change
it to kind of shift right from an image
that represents your goal, but also what you're going to receive when you achieve your goal that's
just as powerful. So we can kind of auto rotate or like every week
you change it out. Rates where you're
constantly looking at both the goal that
you're going to achieve, as well as the reward for that. And by doing this consistently, I mean, this is so powerful. It's like you're putting
just so much fuel on the fire that is just going to ignite and explode
in a very good way. So the key here is
make sure, number one, that when you are achieving your kinda small
milestones daily, weekly, monthly and annual, that
you're rewarding yourself appropriately and only doing
so when you deserve it. And while you're doing it, tell yourself, I am
enjoying this treat. I'm enjoying this massage. I'm joking this time on the
beach or with my kids or whatever it might be because
of what I've accomplished. And then also get excited about the even bigger things
that you're going to happen when you achieve
your bigger goals. So yeah, there's gonna hope
you enjoy your time more. And it's going to increase the likelihood and the speed of achieving your goals as
well based in neuroscience. So hope you found this valuable, hope it's gotten
even more excited. And with that being said, let's go and get to the next video.
13. 4 Common Obstacles & How To Overcome Each: As we embark on our
goal-setting journey and we're climbing
up that mountain, we are going to
overcome obstacles. That is just a part of life. It's inevitable. And not only is it
okay, it's great. And we're going to explain why and learn why here in a moment. But there are gonna be
obstacles that come your way. Number one, you need to be aware of the specific obstacles. And then number two,
know exactly what to do when you're faced with these
obstacles, of course, right? So the most common obstacles to your goal-setting journey
that we haven't covered yet. Or the following. Number one, procrastination, putting things off to the
last minute and either doing so to where you
don't even achieve your goal or the result
is not nearly as great and quality as you
would have wanted it to be if you just started
through from the beginning. Number two is fear,
either internal fear that you can't do it, you don't have the ability or there's an external factor
that's going to come in and cause you to mess up your goals and keep
you away from it. Number three are distractions,
shiny object syndrome. Constantly doing
more than we should or worrying about things that we shouldn't
be worrying about. A number for extremely
powerful comparison. We set our goal and we feel that this goal for us is huge, it's massive, yet somebody else, it seems like their goals are 100 times bigger and they're
just killing it everything. And they just seem to be knocking down goals
left and right. All of these are obstacles
that you will likely face. And for some of us,
the likelihood is, one of these that I've just listed is really
resonating with you. Okay? So problem procrastination. What do we do when we're not motivated or we're
waiting to the last minute. Oh, and by the way,
a real problem with procrastination comes from the dopamine spike that
you get to delaying, right? So when you kinda
delay and putting off, you actually build up his
anticipation and actually build up dopamine in
order to get it done. So it's actually
sort of this high. It's a drug that you're drugging yourself when
you procrastinate. So what do we do in order
to fight procrastination? Okay. Aside from taking
any medical drugs, but I definitely I'm
not recommending you. I'm not a Dr. but the solution constantly envisioned
what your life will be like when
your goal is met, when the deadline versus what
it won't be like, right? So when you meet the deadline, what is your life going to
be like if you miss it? What is your life
going to be like? And constantly envisioning that. So if you're a person for me, procrastination isn't
as big of an issue. For some good friends of mine. This is a big problem that
they have bigger and I have, you know, we all have different deficiencies and
surpluses in different areas. For me, procrastination isn't as big of an issue for me as comparison or for others,
it's the opposite, right? So in this case, this might be beneficial
to you if this is something you've dealt with
in your work and your life, is to have both have a picture, an actual physical image of this is what your
life will be like when or if your goals met
on its deadline and if not, here's what it'll look
like and it's not pretty. Always look at that'd
be like, Okay, that'll give you the motivation because when you kinda
take that time off or, oh, I know what my
daily tasks are. I know what my weekly tasks
are, but I'm not gonna do it. Then it's going to create this, this urgency and knew they
were like, You know what, I'm not really
enjoying my time of not doing the work that I
know I need to be doing. So I'm just gonna go
ahead and get it done. And again, that's
where the rewards also come into play
because you're kinda counteracting the dopamine
that comes from crest nation. You're getting dopamine from not procrastinating,
if that makes sense. So anyway, that's number one. Number two, fear of failure, whether internally
or externally. So if you're really struggling, you're like I've just I've tried so many things in my life and
I've just failed at them. If that's kinda describes you. Obviously embrace everything
we've talked about so far, but view failure as a
learning opportunity. So focus on the progress that you're making
instead of perfection. This also goes into
comparison as well. And the fear of failure will make a lot more sense here at the end of this lecture, I have a very specific kind of data point or a specific quote. That thing is really
going to put things in perspective and really help you if you feel
fear with failing. But basically, failure
is going to happen, obstacles are gonna happen. Embrace it. Just know that
when that happens you're closer to your
goal than you were before that the obstacles came. Okay. So focused on the progress
that you're making versus what your progress you're not making, if that makes sense. Like I said, it'll make
sense here in a moment. Problem number three,
distraction, okay? So if you're easily distracted, and at this day and age, we're all way more distracted
than we should be. All of us. It's a huge, huge problem. Just because everyone
is always distracted, doesn't mean that that should be the norm and that you should
comply with the norm. So obviously, some of these are gonna be
easier to do than others, but you're trying to
limit your workspace. I personally, I use noise
canceling headphones. I do not work with my
phone in the room. My phone is in another room or it's at least
out of arm's reach. I can't I have to
physically get up and go grab my phone because
otherwise because why am I do? When I start getting bored,
I'm gonna go in social media. I'm gonna go watch TikTok or whatever it might be
and start getting a dopamine hit or whatever it is that you do for pleasure. Get a message and respond to that message when
you shouldn't be. So keep the phone away. That's a huge, huge, huge tip. There are different
apps that you can use as well that kind of block Facebook and block certain sites during
designated hours. So you have certain hours
where it's like a 1 h a week, 1 h a day or 30 min a day
or whatever it might be, you allocate time
toward your goal. You can have apps actually block certain sites where
you can't access those sites during
that designated time, which is really powerful. Yeah. Limiting your phone noise, canceling headphones and all
the noises going on around you trying to set up a
designated workspace, whether you're
working from home. Obviously, if you're
in an office, like I was for quite some time, it can be a little
bit difficult. Hey, boss, can I
have my own office? No. Right. There's things you can do
in measures that you can take talk to your colleagues around you and just
kinda mentioned, hey, like I realized like how easily distracted I am and I need
you to help me with this. Like please like when I'm
working during these hours, like just don't like if
you have a message for me, send it to me in slack,
send it to me an email or respond to during my
times that respond. But I just can't be easily distracted with all these calls. Are all these people
kinda coming by? Again, whatever that
looks like for you. Another tip that I do, I only respond to
messages once per day. I've one designated time and for others that I know they
have two dozen, eight times. Of course. Depends on your position. You may say summer, I literally cannot do that. Like I'm
not allowed to do that. That's not within our
work requirements. But if you can have that ability and it'll be more likely that you can then
you think that you can't. There's always more that you
can do anything you can do. You can always work with people, your employers, with your
colleagues, with yourself, and attempt to have a specific designated time or times that you
respond to messages. This constant your account
you're working and then responding to messages and
you're checking social media, you feel that throughout the entire day you
were doing a lot of things but nothing
was really getting done. That's the reason why. Because when you're
focused on something, be fully focused in it. So when you're
working, There's Play, when you're playing, when you're relaxing, when you're
enjoying time, when you're with your
kids or your family, there with them 100%
when you have Utah, you're with you 100% when
you're working on something, you're on that work 100%. When you're responding
to messages, you're there 100%
your mind is not distracted with so
many different things, but you have to
alter your physical environment to make that happen. If that makes sense, it's
going to dramatically help. E.g. is a great tip
from a nutritionist. If you want to eat, if you want to lose
weight, right? In general, you
know, eat less food. That's a pretty
good general rule. And there's the type of food that you're eating in
quantity and all that. But in general, eat less food
if you want to lose weight. What's a tip to help
me eat less food? Smaller plates, changing the
physical side of the plate. You're going to feel
less of the plate up. Well, you're going to
have a smaller area to fill, so therefore less food. Same thing when it comes
to distractions, right? Physically, try to limit your distractions and
there will be less. That means phone in a
different location, you know, literal physical headphones
that are blocking out that actual noise
and all of that. So hopefully that helps because I know we're so distracted. That's why I would kinda
went in so much detail on this and hope you
find that valuable. Now we move on to number four. This is also a huge
problem with all of us and always has been
both social media, it's been even worse. And that is comparison. Comparison is the thief of joy. Quote from Teddy Roosevelt, one of my favorite quotes. We know that when
we're constantly comparing our journey to
other people's journey, it may appear like someone
is so much further ahead in their business, in life, whatever it might be, that it's not even worth trying
and I'm just gonna give up because I can
never live up to them. So I'm going to give up. So number one, a
lot of content that people post on social media are the conversations they have. There could be people
seriously in debt and they would seem it's the exact opposite if
they're wealthy and all of this or that, they're happy and
they love their job and they're actually
miserable in it. There's a lot of two-phase
things going on. A lot of people lying to
themselves and to others. And instead of lugging
that effect you, whether they're telling
the truth or lying. These other people, these
hypothetical people that are always around
us all the time, celebrities, people we know is to limit ourselves from them. Okay? So number one, like I
said, social media is this amplifier, especially
with Instagram. I've noticed that a lot of it's kinda fake life and
fake work is going out. Or LinkedIn can be
part of that as well. And the workspace, depending
on who you follow, but really limit
your social media. I've done that.
It's a great tool. But literally having
designated times like okay, I'm only gonna look
at social media these times in a day and
for this long. And there's apps as well
where it's like, Oh, I'm on social media this time it times out, it cuts you out. You cannot watch
anymore YouTube videos, instagram Reels,
whatever it might be for the rest of the
time, it's over. Okay, So really, actually write down limits for social media
and stick to them. I promise you, I can
almost guarantee you your mood within one week is going to be
dramatically improved. And it's going to
help you achieve your goals faster and
better than ever before. So that's like a huge, huge thing and kinda
mentioned it before. But really work on limiting social media literacy is
instead of going social media, go outside, go to a window
whenever you could do. But just really limits
social media and then also kinda keep a
list and think, are the people that
are around me, are they actually supporting me or they kinda waiting
for me to fail? I had this feeling early on, especially in my
entrepreneurship journey, transitioning from
that kinda like nine to five in
entrepreneurship. And I noticed that there were certain people
around me that were just like You all my posts
that I was posting on social. Always asking me How am I
doing, how my businesses. And there's other
people around me who would never ask
about my business or mentioned when
I talked about, oh, hey, you know, we had this goal and this
obstacle came and blah, blah, blah, and there's a little hiccup or whatever happened. They kinda focus on that. Oh, hey, I heard that happened. Oh, that's so sad. I'm so sorry to hear. Like always negative like, Oh, I only listen to the negative
things that you say. And basically, you'll
notice that there's some people around you that
are looking for you to fail. And that's the reality that a lot of people
don't talk about, but we know that
that's true, don't we? Some of them are family
that we can't really get rid of nor that we want to, we wish they would change. But what you want
to make sure that you do is kind of
think about this. Are you surrounding
yourself with people that are helping you to achieve your goal or hurting you because
it's one or the other. There's no in-between
or the people around you supporting
you and your goals, or are they taking
away and hurting you? And sometimes people
will, like I said, if you're going back
to the weight example because it's so common. Let's say you're
trying to lose weight, but you're wonderful, mother, every time you come over
is giving you all of this unhealthy brownies
and cookies and cake. And you tell her, Hey, like, I need to really cut on this. You're a great cook. I love all this
stuff, but it's not helping me with my goals
and they keep doing it. You need to find out, have a conversation with them about and really get deep about it. But try to find ways of surrounding yourself with
people who are helping you achieve your goal and
less time with people who are dragging you
down like an anchor. So really, really
important things. And I've listed these kind of four obstacles because there are four of the most common
that I've experienced. I see so many people
experiencing when it comes to goal-setting of any
kinds of goals. So now that you're aware of them and I have specific solutions, this is going to help you
find them and overcome them. And with all this being said,
with all these obstacles, I'm going to change
the way that you view obstacles in the
next few seconds. Okay, Riley's David melter is. So there's this
phenomenal quote by David melter that I absolutely
love. And that is this. How would you act if you
were 24 failures away from $1 billion and change out
$1 billion for anything. Change that out for
whatever your goal is. If you're this far away from spending quality time with X number of hours of quality
time with your kids, of being able to travel the
world, whatever it might be. How would you act if you're
just 24 failures away from that big goal that
you've written down, Right? How quickly would you fail? How often would you fail? How would you feel when you fail or when you encounter
those obstacles, when you had your daily goals
and you didn't achieve for one of those days or you had a weekly goal and
it kinda went sour. How do you treat that? The reality is,
like I said before, obstacles are going
to happen, okay, now you're aware of
them, you know what to do when they happen. Embrace them. Don't seek after them, like don't try to
necessarily fail, but just know it's
going to happen. And all that means is when
obstacles are coming your way, It's just like you're
climbing a mountain, right? Some rocks are going to slip. You just know the fact that
some rocks are slipping, you're getting closer, right? If you weren't climbing at all, no rocks would be slipping. The fact that rocks
are slipping, the fact that obstacles
are coming in your way shows you're getting closer
and closer to your goal. That makes sense. So it's really, really powerful. And this is not like just a hike you up to get you motivated. This is, this is like, it's like mathematically true. It's really powerful. I can't really
describe it exactly, but you get the picture. And it goes into this law
called the law of averages. It's this unspoken law
that governs our universe. And I believe in it, I
believe that this is real. I've seen it in my own life, in countless of other
individuals lives. And that is the reality is. So like I mentioned before
earlier in the course, it's better to set
a high goal and miss and get close to it,
but you still missed it. And instead of logo and
hit that little goal. If you are working
harder than the average individual or that your average self
used to work, right? You're working hard and
you're putting more effort. You're putting more
thought into your goals, into achieving them
and all of that. So every day it might
be a little bit, you have a really good
day and other days, a really bad day and so on. But ultimately you're
putting more effort and energy towards
whatever goal it is. You're going to achieve
that goal on it because those averages are
going to play out, right? So it's the same thing
of anything, right? If you can think about
happiness, on average, you're going to have high days and you can have days
where you're happy, you're going to have
days where you're sad. But if you take the
average, if you every day at the end of the day, say Hey, On a scale
of one to ten, how happy was AI today? How joyful was I today? And on average it's a five, sometimes six or seven, or even at ten some days. But a lot of these are
ones and twos and threes. And on average, you score
of four out of ten. Yikes like below, below
a five out of ten. On average, your four out of
ten in terms of happiness. So you're on the SAT
or side of things. That's the average. Okay, so think about the same
thing with goal setting. You may not have a great day every single day or
every single week. But as long as you're
going above what you'd normally do,
above the average, what you normally
are in normally be, you will achieve great
things and you will grow, you will improve, period.
Because it's math, right? And you can quantify
it kinda like I did here with the mood thing
because that's a good example. By the way, if you want
us are doing that, I would highly encourage
you to do that. It's aside as a side
note from goal-setting, but really, really powerful. So that's the key, right? Obstacles are going to come. When they come, you know what they are, how to
deal with them and, you know, hey, and
obstacles here, that means I'm
closer to my goal. Get excited like yes, like yes, this happened. That means I'm getting
closer to my goal. That means that yeah, because I had this low date, I'm going to have
a high day, right? Because I had this obstacle. I'm going to have a great day tomorrow or next week or
whatever it might be. Keep that in mind. It's super powerful having this mindset. And really it's like 80%
mindset, 20% execution. It's extremely powerful. It seems like it's a hundreds and execution, but it's not. It's really, really
within your mind and your spirit when it comes to goal setting and achieving veer. Very powerful. So I hope this makes sense. I know it was a lot that we
covered here in this lecture. If you have questions
about anything, of course, let me know in the Q&A section, but hope it's kept
you motivated. You should be you're
going to crush it. Like I said, maybe
not every day, but in the long term,
you absolutely will. In the fact that you're
here in this course, you've made it to this
point in the course. You absolutely will, and
I'm super excited for you. So with all this being
said, Take a second, decompress, and
once you're ready, we'll go ahead and get
to the next video.
14. How Do You Get Better At Goal Setting & Achieving?: Another word of
encouragement for you. If you feel that you're not
good at creating goals, setting them, achieving them. Is that goal-setting, like
anything else is a muscle. The more you do it, the better you get, and the less you do it, the weaker you are. Some people might
naturally be good at setting and achieving
goals more than others. And maybe more ambitious, more mathematic, more
whatever it might be. It's irrelevant. All that matters
is to set goals, achieved them, and keep
the process going. Like we mentioned
before, you're setting goals that are not super easy for you and also not impossible
for you to do, right? They might seem really easy to somebody else, but
it's irrelevant. We're not comparing
ourselves to others. We're looking at
our own progress. So as long as you're setting goals that are
within that range, between your easy
and impossible. Those are right within
your range and you keep doing that over and over the limit that you're gonna
be able to stretch yourself and bigger and bigger
goals are gonna become. And you can think of it like snowballs rolling down
a mountain, right? It starts really tiny. You think, like you put
this little tiny snowball together and you
start rolling it. You're like this is nothing.
This isn't even worth my time. I should just give up. What's crazy is with time, you might have to roll it
a few times, keep rolling, keep rolling and roll
it down the hill. But on its own, this
momentum will grow and it will have almost like
a life of its own, right. That's when you kind of
get into the flow state. And the same thing is
true with goal-setting. The more goals that
you set and achieve, you build up your confidence,
you build up your ability, you learn like Okay, now when I set my next goal, I know that I always overestimate the amount of
time it's going to take. So I'm going to adjust that. And you're going to improve
over and over again. And ultimately you're
going to get to the point to where other people are going
to look at you like, Oh my goodness, they're so good. They must have just born that way, right? And that's the case. In a lot of cases is that people that are in the
positions they are, some people they get
lucky or whatever. It's definitely true. Many of them in
different areas of life. It was from a lot of consistent hard work is where
they got to that point. And the same is true with
goal-setting, right? And don't compare
yourself to others. Focus on your own progress
and just keep this in mind. It's not gonna be
the same like yours. Always going to be good
or bad at something. You're going to get better and better the more that you do it. It's just that simple
and it's not my opinion. That's a fact of nature. So keep that in mind. Use that as encouragement and have the right
mindset when you go in to begin setting and conquering your goals
like I know you will. And with that being said, let's go out and get to
the next video.
15. Final Step!: Congratulations seriously. If you're watching this video,
it means you've made it through the entire program, which only a very small
percentage of students do. So you're literally
in the top 1%. So hats off to you
and guess what? You've already accomplished
your first goal. So congratulations to you, hope you found this
content valuable. And if you haven't already, there are two important
things that you need to do. Never allowed is
take action, right? Start writing off where
your current life is, the current life that you desire and create a goal that bridges that gap that
ultimately helps you achieve the life
that you desire. Break that goal down into
specific milestones and break it even further into weekly
and daily activities. Write everything down, use the different tools
and resources that we have here in the
program to help you do that. If you're coming
into any obstacles, anything that you need
help with or would like a second opinion on, feel
free to let me know. And the second item, if
you haven't already, we would really appreciate
your honest review. That'd be extremely
beneficial to us as instructors to help me know
what we're doing well, what we can improve upon, and also help other students to help them achieve their goals. So regardless, really
appreciate your support of choosing me as your guide and instructor along this
exciting journey. Hope you've been
finding the content valuable and have to say extremely excited
for you because you've already shown
such great promise. You've already crushed
Your first goal and know that you're gonna
crush many, many more. So thanks again. If there's any way that
I can help let me know and looking forward
to your success.
