1. 01 Introduction: Thank you for taking this class. In this class, we
will learn how to make these delicious garlic. First, I will teach you how
to make the bread dough. Next, I will teach
you how to form the bread sticks and
get them ready to bake. Then I will teach you how
to bake the bread sticks. Next, I will show you how
to melt the butter and combine the salt and garlic so it's ready to go on top
of the bread sticks. Bread sticks begged. I will teach you how
to finish them up with the melted butter and
the salt and garlic. I am a self taught baker. May, years ago, I decided
I wanted to open up my own home bakery and sell cakes and other baked
goods to other people. But I felt like I needed to improve my cake
decorates skills. So I took some classes, watch some videos,
read some books. And of course did a lot of practice until I felt
like my cake decorating. We're at the level that I could decorate cakes for other
people, for special occasions. I then open up my
own home business. And how did this home
business wants to go to farmers markets and
sell my big goods. Bread sticks are
an excellent thing to sell at farmers markets. I had this business for
several years until my husband got a job
offer in New York City. We felt like this was
a good move for us. And so I closed down my business and we moved across the country
to New York City. Now here in New York City, I do not want to go through the steps to open up
another home visitors. But I still, I'm faking. And as retired teacher,
I like teaching. So I decided to share
my skills with you. On Skillshare. You have a good stand mixer
with the bread dough. Bread sticks are
fairly easy to make. They do take several
hours because there are two different periods
for the dough to rise. But the actual time spent
to make an a is less than an hour and is possibly
closer to a half an hour. That means as long as
you stay in their homes, you can watch the dough. You're free to do other things. While the dosage for this class, the baker that would like
to learn how to make this, these delicious
garlic you prefer to have with their meals
when they have pasta, soup or other dishes. I am excited to teach you
the skills in this class. Let's move on to
lesson number one. Thank you. The bread dough.
2. 02 Making The Dough: I'm ready to start
making bread stick. You're going to want to have a heavy-duty mixer with
a bread dough hook. This one is a Bosch kitchen aid and many other brands
also make them. The first thing I
wanna do is I want to dump my warm water into here. Then I'm going to
combine the yeast. And I just wanted
to sprinkle it over that warm water and our butter. Now, we're going to let this down for just a
couple of minutes. While we sit together
the dry ingredients. I've got my SIP over the bowl. And to that, I want to add my three-and-a-half cups are
my three and one-third cups. That's all I'm going
to sit together. If I need more,
I'll just add it. So that's three cups
and one-third cup. Then I want to add my salt, which is one and
three-fourths teaspoon. So I'm going to measure
the wind and forth. That's a half. And
then one-fourth. One tablespoon of garlic powder. And my spoon does
not fit in there, so I will just dump the
powder in the spoon. 1.5 tablespoons of
my vital wheat. Now I just want to
sift through them. I am sure to use a spoon to
push against the bottom. I find it makes it go faster. Then hitting the side. You can hit the site too, if that's what you like to do. Now the recipe says to add the salt to that yeast to Napa. I find it's just as easy
to sift it with this. So that's what I do. We're now ready to add flour mixture to our prep or to our yeast
and water mixture? Going to dump some
not all of it. Yeah. Some of it
shuts off the beater. And I'm going to want it off for a minute so I can
scrape it off at the Peter, which you can see it is
I'm going to turn it up too high and needed
for about 7 min. I ended up starting getting
a high pitch sound, which meant it wasn't really
needing much anymore. And this is the last sticky. And I believe it is ready. What we're gonna do
now is we're going to, I'm using the same bowl
that I sifted flour. Wanted to spray this down. Then I'm going to grab my bread dough and
put it in that bowl. Now, the recipe says
to cover it with plastic wrap and you can spray down some plastic wrap
and put it on there. But I personally prefer to
use a clean dish cloth, one that's made out of like
flour sack type material. That's not real fibers. Fibers. You don't really want a terry cloth one because you don't want the little fuzzies to
stick to the dough. And I'm going to cover this. And this is going to rise
till double in bulk, about 1.5 h won't be back. When this says.
3. 03 Forming The Bread Sticks: Do is done with its first raise, and we're now ready to
roll out the bread sticks. Here's our toe. You can see it is more than
doubled on our breadboard. I've lightly flower at the
top part in a tagline TO, I'm punching it down. I'm putting it on
the bread board. And I want to get 12
bread sticks out of this. So I'm going to start
breaking this in half. Without broken in half. I want to get six out of this. So I want to break
this again inhale. Sure that equal halves. Now I want to get three
out of each of these, so 123, and I want to look and make
sure they're the same size. I'm going to do the
same with this 123. This one's bigger,
this one's smaller. I'll adjust. That. Might be a little bit bigger. So there are six ready to
be made into bread sticks. Now, I'm going to just
carefully stick them back in the bowl so that I have the
breadboard to roll out on. But before I do that, I wanted to do the
same with this. So break it in half. Then I went to break
this into thirds. That makes 09:00 A.M.
break this into thirds. And that makes 12. I have my mounts of dough here. And I have my breadboard, and I have my Pam, put the breadths tips on. So I want to arrange them so that I can
easily get to all of it. I'm going to pick the pen
behind the breadboard. Now you can see I have it
all situated so you can see at least parts of it and all of the print board
when I'm doing the work. What I wanna do now is
I want to make sure this breadboard has
some flowers on it. And I want to roll
this into a grid. I want this to be about
seven or 8 " long. Maybe I should say to 8 " long. So I'm just rolling
it together longer. Once I don't think
it's the right length, I'm just going to stick
it on my pen like that. I'm going to continue doing this with all of the bounds of dough until
I have all 12 them done. As you roll it out. If you notice that one is much bigger or much
smaller than the others, you can add or take away
from it while it's in the dose states to try to
get them all the same size. Now we're not looks like it's about the same
length as that one. I'm ready to m. One thing you can do, you'll notice this one is
just a straight for it. The other thing you can do
is you can twist it like that and then put it up. Those are two different
ways to do print sticks. You want to leave
a little bit of space because this is going to raise some more,
bring this down. I want to be able
to fit 12 on there, but I probably going to
put it at least to them. So you can decide if you
want to twist it like this or a straight like that. But continue working. You have all 12 of them done. I'll continue working too. I have all 12 of mine done. And then we'll be back here. As you can see. I put them all on here. I have a little bit
of space in-between. We're now going to take
our towel that we used before and just put
it on top again. And we're going to let this rise again till double in bulk. This time it's
gonna take about an hour to an hour-and-a-half. Then we'll be ready to make it.
4. 04 BakingThe Bread Sticks: Our bread sticks
have risen and I've turned the oven on to
preheat to 400 degrees. I move the bread sticks
over to the oven while it's preheating so that it will help them
raise a little bit more. Though. You can see that they have. Now we're just waiting
for the oven to pre-heat. So we'll be back when
the Evan has preheated. Oven just beeped saying
that it is preheated. So we're ready to pick the
bread sticks in the oven. I'm going to put the
brakes on the middleware. And then we're going to
set the timer for 12 min. We're now going to let
them cook for 12 min.
5. 05 Preparing The Topping: While the bread
sticks or baking, we're gonna go ahead and
get the butter melted. And the salt and garlic
powder measured out. Because once the bread
stick is done cooking, we want to quickly put this on the bread sticks
while it's still warm. So we're going to take this
better over to the microwave. I'm going to put this
in for 45 s at 50%. So that was in one
tablespoon increments. So then we'd mount more evenly. When the timer goes off, we will stir up and hopefully any un-melted better will melt. The timer has just gone. We're bringing this
out of the microwave. You can see there's still
better that hasn't melted. But because it's hot by Stern and we're hoping we can melt the
rest of the button. As you can see, that's
melted down quite nicely. I don't think we'll have
to heat it up anymore. We have our better melted. Now in this bow, we want to put
one-half teaspoon of salt and one-fourth
teaspoon of garlic powder. We just want to mix this
stuff to make it a blend. Now after spread,
the butter will just be sprinkling this on top. We now need to wait for the bread sticks to finish cooking. Then we'll be ready
to put the butter and the salt and garlic on top.
6. 06 Adding The Butter And Seasoning On Top: Here are our bread sticks. Okay. I just took
them out of the oven. Now I'm going to take my better. You can hear it sizzles. I want to spread it
on top of the bridge. And if for some reason I
don't have enough butter, I can always melt more butter. Looks like I may not
quite have enough photo. I may want to melt
another tablespoon. But before I do that, I want to sprinkle salt and garlic onto each of the sticks so that it has
that yummy garlic flavor. If I find I don't have enough
at the garlic and salts, can make some more of that too. I'm gonna go ahead and melts
us a little bit more better. Finished the last of
the tree, but sticks, sprinkle the rest of that
Salton garlic powder on it and then let
these completely cool. And then they'll be ready to.
7. 07 Final Thoughts: Thank you for taking this class. In this class, we learned how to make these delicious
garlic keep Greg. We first learned how to
make the bread dough. The dough was made, we put it in a bowl and we let it rise. After the first rise, we punched it down, divided it into 12
equal portions, and rolled out our grip sticks. We then put them on
a Jelly Roll pen, covered them and let
them rise again, at least an hour and possibly longer.
After they had risen. The second time, I baked them in the oven at 400
degrees for 12 min. While we baked, I melted the better and mixed together
some salt and garlic powder. With the bread sticks done. We spread the butter on
the bread sticks and sprinkled the salt and
garlic powder on top of it. I hope your bread sticks turned out the way that
you wanted them to. Your project for
this class is to make these bread sticks. The recipe is in the
project section. Please make sure to post a picture of your
finished products. Let us know how it went from
my kitchen to your kitchen.
