1. Introduction: Hey, guys, this is more expensive and from music dash product, come in this course, I'm going to learn your garage band for Mac. We're going to cover how to download and quick Start Gosh, ban on Mac and we're going to open up APP store and show how to actually get Garsh Band Tour Computer. Then we're going to cover the full sound library that comes to Gosh, man. It's a big sound library that is included as well. Then we're going to take a look how to get free sample packs that is exclusive with this course. We're also going to take a brief overview off GarageBand interface just so you can find wherever all of the different elements of guardsmen are, just so you can get a nice work flow when creating music with courage. Ban they were going to create to full tracks. We're going to create one hip up track and we go into great one e g m track. So instead, off me explaining all of the different knobs and different elements off brush, man, I'm just going to create a track from scratch a full track or actually to full tracks and from there you will learn how to master girls banned by creating music instead off just having all of the stalking about theory of different stuff in garage man. So really hope to see you in the course where we'll cover all of this annual master garage band. So see you in the course.
2. Downloading & Quick Starting: Okay, So first we're going to see how to download girl spent and how to get an installed on our Mac. So I'm in the APP store, your APP store for Mac. And as you can see, you have a different different absolutely. Can download a lot of different stuff, and it's against the logic. Pro 10 is there as well, which is garage band, but ah, more professional version of it. And as you can see, that version costs a lot more money. This is sane Swedish crowns here, but this is around $200 but GarageBand is for free, so you only have to type in here in the search bar. So garage band like this and let's click on GarageBand on This is the page for GarageBand. So, as you can see, rebuilt from the ground up with a fresh new look, an amazing new futures. Cashman is the easiest way to create a great sounding song on your Mac so you can actually create full songs with Crash Man. It's very easy to do so and its price free agency. It doesn't take up too much disk space, but there is a sound library that comes with garage band, which is a lot bigger than this one, and we're going to install them on the hard drive on the computer. Hard drive, the internal hard, ripe. But I also have a video on how to install the whole sound library on on an external hard drive as well. Okay, so when you want to download and install, this is just a matter of clicking this button here. And as you can see, it tells me to open it since I have it installed and download and install already on my computer. But for you, it's going to say, say, download here, you just hit that button and that will download gosh band and then install it for you. So when that is done, just go here and type Cashman and that will open up garage band for you. So this is the first window you go to when you open up God's plan on your computer. So here you can see new projects, and this is a selection off different projects you can choose so you can go with the empty project, which would be just on empty project with no instruments or no effects preloaded. Then we have something called ring tone, which is, Ah, Project Fire, which is just says, create your own custom ring tones. Then you have songwriter. Same thing here, an ideal writing studio with drums, guitar amps and vocal tracks. And this is just a project fire with different preloaded instruments and effects For what Apple things is great for songwriters. Then we have next thing hear his voice, so record your voice with modern, classic and experimental vocal tracks. Elektronik, a solid blend of drunk, it's and pulsating since, and collection a collection off legendary guitar and bass amps. Then we have people collection on diverse collection of keyboards and synthesizers. Hip up a great mix of Trump's and analysts since so this is basically the same thing here. So all of these are just preloaded templates with different effects and since in them. So let's say that you go for an electronic track that you want to create. You can go here and choose the electronic here, but I always go for empty projects because I like I like to create the track from scratch and ah yeah, you can also, you can juice a pop for instance, if you're creating hip hop tracks, you can go here and I get inspiration for your tracks. So if you go, let's say we double clicking here, pop here, Let's see what that brings us up. Does it can see this project is preloaded with a drama track. So a drummer track is is an automated drumming sound. So this has a lot of different beats presets, as you can see, and they will also have different drummers. I'm gonna talk more about the drummer section in a later lecture, but this is just to introduce you to Grosh Bands interface here, does it? You see it? We have a drummer which placed this stone. Then we also have different based sounds. Different sense sounds. So, um, let's say let's listen to this. I'm going to bring up the musical typing window here, which you can bring up by pressing command K and a keyboard. And with that, you can play with your keyboard instead of having a meeting keyboard. We can also play with your media keyboard. If you have any installed on your system, of course. Okay, let's take a look at the deep South base here next one is physical layered base. - Yeah , So as you can see, there are different preloaded instruments here, so you can just play along with this drummer section. So this is perfect to get down inspiration or ideas immediately into, um, your program. So, as you can see, this is the drama resection. So I'm going to play the drummer here and just record something very quickly here to just get something in there. So let's press record and let's listen to it and record at the same time. So we have something here. Let's close this window here. And as you can see, piano roll will show up some just rece icing it like this. And here are notes that we recorded. We can zoom this a bit by go going to the art track pad for have a Mac book, or we can also zoom with this little arrow here. Okay, so that's Amina bits and going to select all of these impressed time contests on cue there and now we have all over notes aligning to our beats here, you see, So let's play this out again. And as you can see, what have two different sections here are on our region, as against the air and this ISS looping. So if you drag it here, this section or this region will be looped. Then we have this other section here, which is just rece icing this region going to loop that. And now let's say that we want to play around with the subject, So I'm not going to record this time. I'm just going to play around with it, and then we're gonna hit record so we can go get that notes into this project. Actually, we're going to copy this region. So to corporations, just hold option and just drag it like that. You need to hold. You need to hold the region pressing option on a keyboard and then just letting go like that. So now we have this the same region with the same notes in this track here. So does not look like this region. It's than I think it's going to be too high, since the sub base should be a bit lower in the notes here. So if I click on the notes, you will get a playback off that note. Yeah, I think that's a bit too high so I'm going. Teoh, take these notes. It's on F two. We're going to go to if one like that. Let's take a listen to distract now. Very easy to do. All right, so we're gonna take a bit off on overview off garage band in the next lecture. So you're gonna I'm going to cover from here and all the way to here, and then we're gonna go over the work space area here that you can is basically the arrangement area off garage band, and then I'm going to cover the library as well. All right, So see you in the next lecture.
3. Downloading The Sound Library: all right. So the first thing we want to do when we're new to garage band is to go to Girl Span and Sound library. So I'm going to creates an empty project just like this. Let's just put us off tour instrument that just great to get rid of this window. And now go to sound library and you can see the download essential sounds or download all available sounds. And you can see these are great out for me, but they should be available for you. And this is just because I already have the sound library installed on my computer. So when you go to down all available sound, that will. Yeah, but I love the whole sound library for Gershman, and that is pretty big in size. So you need to make sure that your computer has at least around 50 gigabytes off disk space available. So you can see that by going to the apple logo here and about this Mac, and that will bring up the how much disk space you have there available on your computer. All right, so I'm going to make a bit more overview off Brash man itself in the next lectures will see you in the next lecture
4. Overview of GarageBand - Part 1: All right, so let's take a look at the overview off. Gosh, bands interface here, so I'm going to open up on empty project. And as you can see here, you can also choose the tempo off that project. Here you can choose the key signature time signature and input and output. The life so input device would be if you have any microphone that you want the project to be set on. But it's easier to do this with separate audio tracks instead of doing it for the overall project here. Also output device that will be same thing here. You can go and choose your sound card if you have an external sound card and if you have the same sound card connected and you're using your system for it. So let's say Let's say you go to safari and you have sound through that sound interface. Then you can have it on system setting, as I have here. All right, so empty project and choose. So now we have an empty project, and because it's empty, we need to have our first instrument here so we can choose softer instrumentally inches audio, or we can choose the drummer. So I'm going to start with a software sprint and let's go with Great. So Harris, the garage spent in the face, as you can see and let's put this quick help about it on. So whatever I'm going to cover here is going to be a little text box here where we can explain what that particular thing does, right? So the first bottom here is the library bottom, and it says, open the library to view and select patches for the selected track type. So as you can see, we created our software instrument, which is this one here and now. Since this is a software instrument, we can go and choose our different patches. Here you can see patch category and you can choose, Um, let's say a base here and we want Liverpool Base. And now we have a Liverpool based loaded to this track. So this is ready to be played on like that. And if we want to get rid of this and want to try another base, it's just a matter of choosing that. And it will replace this track with this new base or the new sound. Let's say what a synthesizer idiom base. And this one here, Same thing goes here. We have this track being replaced with the sound you chose. All right. Next thing here is the quicker, But in which does the same thing as I did before. So we can get a little yellow text box, which explains everything. You hover on with your mouse cursor here. The next thing we have is the smart controls bottom which says open the smart controls area where you can quickly modify the sound off the current patch. So the patch, as you remember, is these different sounds they can chose in the library. And the small controls are basically different controls that Apple has set together for this particular instruments. So this will be the small controls have different interfaces, depending on what pat you have their own. So if I put in modern synth bass, you can see that it looks a bit different here. So if I play this based on here, yes, you can hear it's a lot of different stuff going on here. So I think that it can also go to master here to do some different e que compression limiting squeeze bright This is a matter of just experimenting with this sound. Then you have e Q. And this is the e Q four, this patch here as well. So the smart controls would be to just play along with the different effects for that patch . And as you can see now, the effect looks a bit different here. And this is because I put master and then effects. So then you can choose, ah, the different controls for the echo or the reverb in this case here. So let's say that I go to Deep Drone here that will also change the different settings for the echo in the reverb. So the track here Oh, are the overall setting for dispatch. Then if you want to go to the master that will actually there you can control a different plug ins. So you have compressor exciter, another compressor and limiters. You can put that on enable it or disabled. You can also do it on the smart control interface here as well. Same thing goes here you can choose on preset and inky presets from the e que here and just going to disable that quickly. Let's say that we have a base here so I can go with, um, that, See? Yeah, let's say a since a base enhancer. So that will actually make a bit more base off every week. You out more base from this base sound base patch here? Yeah. So then we can go back to the track and we have those different settings as we come in here . Then we also have plug ins here as well. So this is going
5. Overview of GarageBand - Part 2: this is going to be the different plug ins for that sound. So that's the cue. And here you can also choose more plug ins if you want to. So let's say that we want to have a reverb the computer, let's say space designing reverb. And now we have, Ah, one more reverb here in the plug in chain here as well. So, as you can see, you can put a lot of different plug ins for this particular patch, so you can you can basically customize that a lot. Same thing goes for your master echo Master reverb. You can put different settings for that. Let's choose something else. Let's go for a lead here and festival lead, for instance. So you have made changes to the current instrument or instruments setting. If you want to save this, you can save it. You can continue to discard it, changes and continue working. So I'm gonna do that. So, as you can see here, the interface for the smart control looks a lot different, and this is because the smart controls are made by the patch, so every patch, or almost every patch, has different settings or different looks. to the smart controls. So the smart controls, Let's say this one here is controlling several different knobs for, Let's say, and let's say that this now. Beer. I'm not really sure what this particular knob does, but the main thing that smart contracts thus is that it controls several knobs or several individual controls from different plug ins. So you don't have to. Ah, that's a go to seek you here and this at the same time as to go to the compressor and do that, for instance, so with a smart control knob, you can control several knobs and several settings at the same time. So just by going to this Nabhan adjusting it. But this is set up from Apple Side. It's not nothing you can do in garage band Teoh actually modify this so you can play around . It's a lot of different settings here, in a way, so you don't need to basically do anything more here, and then then the settings that are here for the smart control so you can just experiment. You can try different stuff out here, and you can E Q. The track. You can also go to the Masters I told you before and choose different settings for the effects here for the master, this batch. And yeah, I'm going to create one more softer instrument here just to see, just to show you the difference here, that now we have. We had this festival lead, and it's created a classic electric piano track for us, so I'm going to go with a drunk it instead. And let's choose eso cal here. So now we can see that we have different settings for kick snare, Tom's, Hyatt symbols and percussion so they can lower or higher the volume. It can enable or disable that particular um, yet particular drum here, for instance. And as you can see, you have the plug in here or the plug ins. They can also go to the master like that, and you can do the same things as in the festival lead here. You also have the keyboard sensitivities. I'm going to put this on here, and you could see it says, drag the slider to adjust the velocity level off notes you play. Same thing goes here can just put this tomb or, if you want it to be played on a higher velocity or less if you wanted to be a play that are less velocity. All right, so this one is smarter controls. Now let's go to the editors and the editors is you can do three different editors in garage band. So, as you can see, open on editor for the selected track type audio, piano roll scored drama editor. So see, you can see here we have this software instrument track that we created by going to the plus here. So for the software instrument, it's going to be a piano roll editor. And with the piano roll editor, we can do media data. So I'm going to go to this track here and to the arrangement area or workspace create empty media region. So now we haven't I'm to meet the region, and you can see that region here in the Penarol. So now I can just go to command and type in my notes here like this, and it's not playing anything because I don't think there's an sound here. Yeah, so, as you can see, I can listen to the different notes in the selected softer instrument by just clicking the notes here. All right, So I'm going to drag this meeting notes to there. All right. And here we have a metro. No sound or a click sound. I'm going to get rid of it for now. You can probably send the different notes by just dragging the notes yourself. I can also copying different notes by dragging it out and holding Ault. I can also loop this region with a cycle here so I can drag the cycle like this. I can drag it a cycle like that I can in a
6. Overview of GarageBand - Part 3: that I can enable it and I kill. I can actually disable it and enable it by just pressing it. I can also drag it to that section just like that, and you can experiment, are locked with the piano. You can also see the scores here. So this is the score editor. We're gonna cover the piano and the score later in the later six year. So let's go to the plus here and let's go to creating ah audio track. We're going to create this under tracked that says, connect a guitar or base to your Mac to play and record through virtual amps and pedal effects. Actually, I'm going to go with this one instead. Since why? No, I'm not having any guitar bass connected to my Mac right now, So this one says the record using a microphone or line inputs or drag and drop audio files . So I'm going to hit create here, and this is now our audio track. So the library has different sounds now, and these are actually just presets. So if I'm going to record a guitar sound, I can choose clean guitar, echo studio. And now, if I record and a guitar here that will have some different effects on that saves on ampere so that get our son would have this amp being played on in real time when your recorder guitar some. But we're going to cover that in a letter later section as well. All right, So with editor here, if you have an audio file or an on your region put in here, that will be played in this section. So I'm going to go with an apple Appear I'm just going to demonstrates all your file. So now, as you can see, I have the editors on and this an audio file or an apple. Ooh, it's same thing, basically. And this was show on all your file here instead of the editor. So that's disabled that this editor view here. Okay, so next thing we have transport controls and this says rewind, button, four button, go to beginning button. So this will move the player to the start off the project like this. Then we have the play button. So yeah, self explanatory, but start playback from the play head position or from the left locator shown in the Ruler one in Psycho mode right now in the in the psych Ammon. As soon as you can see the yellow will bar here that will be in cycm. Oh, if you're disabling cycm ola by just clicking on it now, it just place from wherever we are with the play in here. And if we're playing again, it's going to play from here. Then if you have the cycle area or on, it will actually be in play from the beginning off the cycle area every time you hit play. And it would also loop that section as well. So now we have the record button, and this will record your selected tracks. So you need to have the track selected that you want to record on, then rather, cycle bottom. And it says, turn cycle mode, on or off used to repeatedly play or record over the project section within the yellow cycle area that appears in the ruler. So that was basically the same thing as I explained here with cycle area. Then we have beats. Position display indicates that the play had position. M barce beats divisions and ticks edit numbers by dragging vertically. You can drag it like this can you see the play head is moving as well at it numbers. By dragging vertically or by double clicking and entering a new values. We can also double quick. We can end their, let's say, 20 here, and that will be on bar 20 temperatures. Play indicates to playback or recording speed. Same thing here. Drag vertically to choose or you can double, click and type in the temple that you want to have in your project and say the same thing here. Time signature. You can double click Teoh edit the value. You can drag it as well to choose from a drop down menu here and same thing, goats with their quarters play here. Then you can also choose different LCD screens. You can go with beets and time speaking on only time, so this will only show that project time like that. Next thing we have here is the tuna button. So it says, open the tuner, which you can use to tune instruments connected to your computer. So we have to have ah audio track selected and we also have to have some lining eso guitar , for instance, and we don't have that right now. She won't see any tuning going on here, but we can still play. Distract this audio track and you will see the tuner working. It's nice to tune it. Then we have our counting button, and this has struggled. Accounting before recording starts to define accountant, choose record accountant, and that will be in the in the settings off correspond, which will recover in a letter lecture. And then we have the Metro No button and that this will give us a quick at the project Temple during playback or according so you can see there's our Metrodome sound. And if you're disabled this it will still be playing when you're recording. This is our master volume cider, so it's set the overall project volume. Then we have no Pap pardon. This will open the no pad where you can great view and edit Project takes notes. So this is basically just on text area, where we can write in different stuff. Let's say I really like this first track in Gorosh band like that. Then we have the loop browser button and it says open the Love Luke browser, which contains pre recorded audio and software instrument loops. You can add to your project. So if we go to this one here, this was show all of our loops that we have installed And this is a part of the sound library that came with garage band.
7. Overview of GarageBand - Part 4: So this sort of loop area here with the loo browser. So Lou Browser Button opened the Loop browser, which contains pre recorded audio and software instrument loops you can add to your project . So all of these here are from the sound library that we downloaded when we started Garage Band. And this is the same thing here. Some literary download, all available sounds. So now we have all of these apple loops installed on our system here, and it may be that I have more apple apps than you have. And this is because my computer here is installed with logic. Pro 10 and algae protein comes actually with a lot of different absolutes as well. So you can you would see the same apple loops here if you have logic Proton install as well . Very cool thing with Apple. Oops is that these are pre made loops, but it's also different instruments, so it's softer instrument loops. Let's say this one here, and that is not in audio. It's played on a soft restaurant with media data in it. So if you want to use it, let's say I want to you this one. I just drag it out on empty space like that. And now I have this patch on with the media data that the sound is so now we can just now we can just modified this meaty that I hear to whatever we want to have it all didn't sound so, so good. But you see my point here, so I'm going to delete that track. And now let's look for Ah, different loops. And as you can see, the list is long hair, so I'm going to sort it by instrument. You can just call drums. For instance. You can choose different piano sounds as well. As you can see. There are green apple loops and blue apple. Oops, blue apple loops are audio. So let's say want this one here If I drag this to an empty space in the workspace area, this is an apple loop audio fire, less seconds here. So this is in pure audio. Let's take a listen to it, but in solar mode, so I can't really do anything with it. I can I can modify it a little bit in the audio editor, but I can't move notes here as I can do with the green apple loops, which is meaty, and software instruments. So it won one more time. Air. If I drag a green apple about, I can modify all of the notes here, so let's get rid of that track, all right? And as you can see, there are a lot of different categories here they can choose between. You can try the thumb out. You can also sort by genre. So let's say that we want somebody electronics here, and I also want some drums. So now I have all drums from the General Elektronik here, and I have it on our pretty slow temple years. I'm going to shoes, going to type in 1 20 ppm. Yeah, so you get my point. We're going to create a track out of that loops in a later lecture. So you will see days how to use all of these loops. Yeah, In a practical way, you can also go to loop back here. You can choose from different Lou packs that comes with corrosion as well. And these are also sorted by Jonah. Or at least some of them are. So if I go to hip up here, this will be only hip up, um, Apple loops. All right, The next thing we have here is the browser and the browser here was Show us all over. Audio five, star computer. Basically, you can sort them by different music. You have on items going to music here. Ah, I don't have And don't use iTunes, unfortunately, so I don't I won't get any of my music here, but I can go to search Aiken, type in the only file that I want to have here. I can also go to garage Pan. And if I have anything there, I can choose here as well. And this are going to be all of my projects from gosh bent. You can also choose movies. So if you have any movies and stolen computer that will also show up here, That is the basic overview off garage band
8. Creating a Full Track Hip Hop - Part 1: all right. So instead of just talking about different theory behind different things you can do in GarageBand, lets create two full projects I'm going to create to full tracks. The 1st 1 is going to be a hip hop track, and the 2nd 1 will be ah e g m house track. So we're going to create these tracks with only Apple Loops and the built in sounds that comes with garage band. And you can create a lot of different cool stuff with this with the garage band software itself. Okay, so I'm going to start with an empty project just like this. And now I'm going to start with on all your track. So I'm going to choose this record using a microphone or line input or drag and drop all your files, so create that track. All right, so let's see here. We're gonna take this hip hop project here. Let's go ahead and choose it. Now it's gonna load the hippo project here. All right, So now we have a drummer here, as you can see, and this is using the drummer desk, which is ah, trapped drummer. But let's take a listen to this track. All right, so I'm going to start with a brief overview off the drummer. And the drummer is just basically, ah, generator off different drumming sounds or a beat. And you can go to the editor here, which will bring up the drama editor. And from here, you can see there are different beats presets, and these are presets off all of the settings here. So let's take a look at the first setting here. The first setting is this one with the little puck. You can drag around this area here, and this is you can just choose how much off the different variables he wants to have in the beat. So you can have to be to be loud, simple software complex. You can have them being a blend off both off. Let's say simple and loud like this. Or maybe like this, Then you can have it. Let's say to be soft and complex or a bit of them and just a bit more loud so it can do it like this. You can also have them have the beat being in the center here, and that will make it cannot allowed simple self down, complex So let's take a listen. We're gonna move the park here a bit, and let's take a listen to the beat. What? The changes are being made here. - I think I'm gonna leave it at this. So here we have some individual instruments you can, uh, disabled enable if she wants, so you can just click on them to enable or disable them. You can choose the variation off the different drum elements here, so you can have up to seven different variations off these different drum patterns off this thes parts off the drums. And then we have Ah, yeah, the filled snob here, which you can you can just I said, how much of the fields you want. You can also set swing here so you can choose how much of a swing you want if you want that in your beat. All right. And then we have the presets. So if you change presets, that will change everything here. So let's take a listen to the drummer again. And let's just see what preset iss good for for for a purpose. Here. - I'm gonna go with this role deep here. I think that sounds pretty nice. Yeah, All right. So we have the drummers here. You can also switch out the different drummers. So if you're not happy with how does is playing or his sounds, you can just go and choose Anton, for instance, or Morris here, and you can also
9. Creating a Full Track Hip Hop - Part 2: also change different drum machines. So the drummer here IHS basically a drum machine playing a drum pattern. All right, so you have now chosen a drum pattern which being played in a drum machine, and this drum machine, which is being used here right now it's the trapdoor one. But you can change that so you can change to whatever drum machine you want here in the list, and that will play the same drum pattern as now, but with different sounds. So let's just take a look at the different drum machines here. And if it sounds better or not, so let's play this and let's just switch out different drum but machines here so you can hear you can choose. You can, ah, get a lot of different cool, kind off drum sounds here by just switching out. Let's say that you're using ah, modern club drum machine for a hey puppet, and that will actually create something cool, Unique drum beats here, but we're gonna go with the trapdoor since it sounds more off like more of like a generic K pop beat here. Great. So we're gonna choose that one, and I'm going to close the library here. So as you can see, you have different. Yeah, different tracks here that is pre made. And let's get up our musical typing. We know here. I'm going to take a look and listen at the different sounds here. - All right? So I'm gonna play this little idea that I got here on the Flyer. So let's try it out and record it. So I didn't play that really great on on the beat ear on the grid. So let's CS you can see here. If we zoom in a bit, you can see that this is way off. This is a bit off. Same thing goes here. So what, we're gonna do it? We're going to select all of these notes that zoom out and Kwan Tei. So you do that by pressing the queue here. And now if we zoom back in here, it should be. Yep, that is on the grid. Same thing goes with that one. That one. And that one. So that's cycle this region here, and let's take a listen. So now we're gonna take a listen to how we complain. The next track here just played like that. So let's try it out. That's quantities. That and I get out today on there, and I'm going to copy this region here. So you're doing that by pressing option and dragging out that region. And now we have the same region, but twice here. You can also do it this way. So you can take, um, the cursor here and you will get the loop cursor or loop to, and that will loop the region. That's the same thing. All right, so I'm going to Let's say I want to create a sub base here. Let's take a listen to this.
10. Creating a Full Track Hip Hop - Part 3: gonna move this one. Let's say one octave up as you can see, my key Come on there for, ah, taking notes one octave up or down. And I'm going to move this region here onto the sub bass track. So it's the same region playing the same notes, but yeah, but on the sub base here, I want the subways to be one octave down. So let's do the same thing here. I'm going to do the same thing here with the strings. So let's just copy that region. And now I think I'm gonna go one active up so you can hear that preview there and what I'm also going to do. I'm going to cop it this these meaty notes by pressing Ault and just dragging them out. So in selecting the all of the notes first, so let's do that again. I'm selecting the notes, taking the notes by pressing Ault by holding an option and ult. Let's try out some different combinations here. That didn't sound good at all. So let's take this one octave up. Let's take this sub base region, and I'm gonna copy this to the layered base here. It's way too low, so let's get it. All right. Yeah. I'm gonna go with the piano here and let's play in something else. Since this all of these are the same notes. So let's take a listen to some different quarter combinations here. - I don't know if the piano really fits that really good. So let's try this box. Bold leading is that and his record it that didn't sound good at all. Let's try it again. - All right, so let's take that one. And I'm going to select all of the notes here. You can also do that by pressing Kamani and when I queue here, Kwan ties. So they are under a great here. And let's take a listen to this track now going, Teoh, lower the volume off all of these tracks here. So let's do something like this. So I'm going to do some different various
11. Creating a Full Track Hip Hop - Part 4: different variations off the drummer. So I'm gonna take all of these regions here and let's loop them. So selecting them all and just dragging out like this would make of the region's being looped. So now we have some more space to work on here. So I'm gonna take this drummer here so you can see here. And we got copied this drummer region over to this space here. So now we have two different drama regions I'm going to have Let's say that I want one Section one beats like one simple beats in the beginning here 1st 4 bars. Now, next four bars from here would be another drummer, which would be a SIM. More simple or more advanced. Be too, because we have a very simple beats in the beginning here. Then I want a very, very more much more complex speed in this section. So now every single region drama region here will have their own settings. Take the first drama region here. I'm going to make it very simple. So let's go with a simple preset here. Let's try this one out first. I'm gonna have the same role deep here, but I'm going to take this one to the simple side here. I'm gonna get rid of the Hyattes. Next one is going to be, Yeah, I'm gonna have it on the single setting, as I had before, And then the third drummer section. He will be complex and loud and I'm going to add, Let's say I'm going to add a Tom's here. Let's try this one outs and let's take a listen to the whole song we have here and I'm also going to Yeah, we're going to do, Ah, a little bit off arrangement here, So let's take a listen to this, All right? So I only want Kick Drum here. It's Get rid of everything else here on day. Yeah, let's have the fields on for now. We're going to create this like intersection here. - No , sounds pretty good, right? It's very easy method to come up with some different creative stuff here, and you can just play around. As you can see, I have been creating this tracking like 20 minutes, or sometimes that, and I think everyone can do this. You don't have to be any like professional musician to do this kind of stuff. And as I said before, You can just play around with, let's say, a piano, for instance. And let's just come up with some different course by just playing on her keyboard, and you have some different beats being made, and now you can have on actual I'm The natural music idea is. So now you can wrap. Let's say that you're a rapper and you can go and create your own voice so you go to the plus sign here, record using a microphone, and when you have your microphone lined up to your computer, you would have a list here off the inputs. So let's say that I have a USB microphone, for instance. Then you will get the list off the USB microphone in this list there, off the inputs, and you can also chair. Choose to this one here. I want to hear my instrument as I play and record my opinion. GarageBand is perfect for creating different ideas and to get inspired to create some music . So let's say, as I said before, if you're wrapping or if you're a singer or even songwriter, there's a very good tool to get. Just get some different ideas very quickly on there. Then, if you want to create complete projects, complete musical projects and complete full tracks, then you would have a lot more control with logic. So Logic Pro 10 is a very, very good software. It looks almost the same as GarageBand nowadays since the Version 10. They did it very similar looking to garage Band, but it's actually missing a lot of these powerful functions. You don't even have a mixer in garage Band, for instance. So it's hard to make something in garage band. That is one thing. And there are different a lot of different tools that logic has that Cartman doesn't have, and you get a bigger, a lot bigger sound library with logic as well. I have a full length logic pro 10 course on music Dash prod so you can go ahead and check it out if you want. It's a 14 hour long logic protein course, so if you want to sit through all of these videos, when I create three full tracks with logic, you can go ahead. But I also have a shorter version, Logic pro, and you learned logic pro 10 in a day where the length of that courses around three hours, and you will get almost the same knowledge by watching both of these courses. But the way the full 14 hour long course, we also cover a lot off, like how to actually create tracks and complete and finish them as well. All right, so in the next lecture, I'm going to create some more dance and electronic stuff. So see you in the next picture.
12. Creating a Full Track EDM - Part 1: all right, so in this section, we're going to create Elektronik or a dance ADM kind of style track here. All right, So I'm gonna go with the electronic project template here so you can go to garage Band and new and electronic. You can see it said on 1 20 PM it's going to be in C major. This is not really important here. We can also always pay in another key signature if you want to, but this is more important. 1 28 ppm Temple. We can as well change that later on. It's not any problem, but this is a very good starting template here. So let's choose this one and let's load it into garage band. All right, so now we have the drummer said here on Big Room, and it's the drummer called Minus and it says here, a popular dance music festival headliner Miners creates tenderness, electro house beats to complement and made anthemic synth leads and bass drops. So let's take a listen to minus here. That's a very, very simple and mon atomic beat. Let's go with different beats, presents presets here, and if you don't know what I'm doing here, in the drummer. Let's just go back to the previous lecture where we created a hip hop track where I explained the drummer in more in depth. But let's just browse around different presets here. Let's see what we get up with. All right, I'm thinking off changing the drummer. Actually, I'm gonna go with Leah here, and it says changing the drummer will replace changes were made to the Regent settings on this track. So let's do that change, drummer. And now we have deep take here. Let's take a listen to Leah. All right, I'm gonna have this drummer on here. I'm gonna take this beat, So let's have it like that. And now let's take a listen at these different instruments that we have here for this Elektronik track. And these are the instruments that comes with this Elektronik starting project here. So let's play around and let's see what we come up with. It's lower the volume here off the tracks. Let's take a listen. - All right, so that is a pretty cool pattern there, but let's just take a listen to the other instruments here. I really like this one. This is ah, house Oregon. So let's take a listen to the if you make it like a base
13. Creating a Full Track EDM - Part 2: All right. So I recorded that kind of a classic house organ base. So I started out with recording something, and then I changed my mind, and then I got here. So what? I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna recites this track. So I just see these notes here, and I'm going to select the notes and I'm going to Kuala entice them by Q here and this. I think these are misplaced. Or let's take a listen. I'm gonna drag this to the beginning here so I can just move, move these different notes here. Let's see what we can do here. E, I don't like this last section here. That sounds pretty good. Some going to be happy with that. And I'm going to recess this region as well. Now we have a four bar based sound and let's see what we can do with this one. Or let's Yeah, let's actually take a listen to the other sounds we have here. That's competence region over toe the sound. Let's take a listen to this. Let's move these notes. One knocked up sounds pretty good. I'm gonna leave it like it is. So let's take a listen to the other tracks I'm gonna do here. I'm going to copy this region from these cords or the Chicago Accords track here, and I'm going to the elite. Let's here. I'm going to delete all of the notes besides the 1st 1 Since this is going to be the root notes off track and going to take this note and drag it out like this, let's take a listen to the pad. All right, so it's a bit low. Let's take it up. One of them were two octaves. Yeah, Let's see if we borrowed this one, it's gonna be too much, I think. Let's try this oneness than use the shifting patterns since, all right, so I'm gonna go with these sounds for now, not just tried out. And yeah, I'm gonna close this piano like this or make it smaller. I can also just click here. All right, so I'm gonna do the same thing as I did with the hip hop track. I'm gonna take the drummer here. I'm going to rece ice it like this, and I I can also plus press the plus button. I'm going to create four bar loops here. Like place. I'm going to make this track a bit longer. So let's say I created like this. This is 16 bars. Great. So the 1st 1 is going to be Ah, very basic intro. So now we have our different blocks here with sounds. I'm just going to move them there and let's copy over the base patterns for now. But first of all, I'm going to choose the drummer here, and I'm going to make it very simple and loud. And I'm going to take off everything besides a kick drum going to cycle this areas. Well, maybe this is too too high in the doctor range. Soul. It's cooled. That sounded like this. Um, let's see if we have something else we can.
14. Creating a Full Track EDM - Part 3: maybe take this organ here. Now I'm gonna get rid of this base patterns. Let's take this patterns that so this other the second drum the intersection Here we will have. We wanted to be loud and saw no loud. Yeah, maybe allowed on more complex. So somewhere on here I want to get rid of the Hyatts. Have a clap and a lot off pills so we can introduce this kind of a drop sexual re. We could call it like that. So let's cycle this area. Okay? I want to introduce some high it. So let's try just the high yet here. Great. So now we would have thes here, and I'm going to let's see if we can just make that shorter and I'm going to make this drummer section shorter's just so we can get rid off. Um, just the last beats here, So it's going to be like a sudden start off a very intense section here where the drop starts. Um, yeah, let's take a listen to to this section. This will be like a bridge almost to the drop here. E, I don't really like this Base patterns sound here. It's a bit annoying. I think so. Let's take Let's make it a base. It's actually a bass sound, so let's make it one great. So now let's go to the next section. We will have it more intense. So going to double click here. And I wanted to be very loud and very complex. Now I also want some different sounds here in a lot off fills going to copy this section. All of those here, over here. Now let's take a listen to this section and this one, all right? So I actually want one more, and I'm going to make it a bit longer like this. And in this drummer section, I don't want any kick drum at all. So let's get rid of the kick drum. Let's get the feels easy and gets put all of this region here and in the last section. I just want organs to be playing. So I want this to be one more drummer section, since we want some variation in the beat. So here I'm going to get rid off the Shakers on I just want let's try it out cool. So there's are kind off deep house, very easy deep house track here in garage Band. But I just changed my mind. I want to do something completely else here. I don't want to do deep house and more. So let's get rid of everything. And I'm going to switch out the drama here. I'm gonna have the same pattern, but I'm going to switch out a drummer. So let's take this modern house here. Yeah, let's change drummer. Right? Let's see what you young got here. Maybe try Magnus.
15. Creating a Full Track EDM - Part 4: Agnes. Let's try it. Ronnie almost sounds like hip hop, but it is trapped. Uh, yeah. I'm going to go with a modern house here. I'm going to create typically GM track. So we had our let's see here around our synth here. Okay, so I'm gonna go with the library here, and I'm gonna choose something else. So let's see here. What we guts. You can go with synthesizer, that stadium cord. So what do we have here? Let's just try this one out. No, drink up. Sounds a lot like hard. Well, in the medium scene, if you know what that artist this or producers let's play around and have the beat on here . - I still think the beats are not really iam kind off sounds. I'm gonna go with a big room on anyway and didn't notice that a tempo switched when we switched the drummer as well. So since big room is typically 1 28 bpm, then the drummer is going to be changed to that tempo. And the drama is going to make our project being changed to that temper as well. - All right, I'm gonna go with the piano instead. Let's go with the grand piano. So we have Ah, simple corporation here. Qantas. That's alright. Awesome. So now we're gonna go with a synthesizer here, medium base. I'm going to search for some bass sounds. I'm gonna take this track here and let's see what Rick guts this a stadium base. I like that a lot more than this piano, so I'm going to mute that one. So let's select them all and press Q Congress que There. Now we have it all contest like that. Let's put a velocity on to maximum.
16. Creating a Full Track EDM - Part 5: - it's here. I think it's off grid. All right, so that is good. So let's loop it like that. And in this drummer section, and I just want to kick drum. So I'm going to take off all of those sounds. Let's take a listen out. Let's get rid off two beats there in this drummer section. And here we wanted to be very, um yeah, a lot of different stuff going on. So let's do it like that. Let's try it out. Yeah, I'm gonna take the same one here, so I'm gonna copy that. Okay, so now we want something else here as well. Otherwise is going to be a bit boring. So let's see what regards? I want some kind of pad here, so let's take a listen to the pads. - Let's have this on. So I'm going to record it like that. Now we're gonna double click it. We're gonna Qantas it and put it to the last section here in this region. Were going to loop that to here and now I think I want something maybe rhythmic here. Let's try this one out. Oh, that sounds really good. I like that one. Let's record I want, and I'm just playing one key here, and it's the same root note us. There's one here, so it's going to be, Let's see, it's going to be, yeah, so let's try it out. So I went off Great airs. You can hear, but that just Kwan ties that. I'm going to drag it out and loop. It's Let's take a listen. Maybe let's try some different base or I'm not going to switch out the base. But I'm going to use some other base and layer it with this wobble base here. So let's take a listen to something here. Uh huh. That is a cool base. It's like a bass part, almost like that.
17. Creating a Full Track EDM - Part 6: so same thing here selecting all nodes, Quanta izing them. And I'm now I'm going to look them or look the region. So I'm going to take this wobble bass and move it a bit. So we have some different variation in the arrangement. - All right, so I'm gonna doublet Kate this wobble bass track here, and I'm do that by pressing command D So you can see I have exactly the same track underneath here. I'm going to make this base like this, and I'm going to copy this region over to the Dublin catered track. Put it there. And now I'm going to go with the smart controls here. So from here, I'm going to filter this track. Let's take a listen to it. All right. So the filter didn't do too much here, So I'm going to e que instead going Teoh, take a hike out here and I'm going to make it like this. - That's competence base over here as well. You can also change the different settings off this instrument. So there are some different cool variations here, so let's just try them out here. So, for this section, I wanted to be filtered so I'm going to Dublin, Kate, this track as well and copied this region over to this section here, and I'm going to choose the Let's say, rounded to Let's take a listen to it first. Just solo. It's No, that is too much. That is way better. I want this drummer section to be Ah, simpler way simpler. So just the kick drum. Get off the fields here, let's take a listen. All right, so there we have our track. So let's just take a listen to the full track that we made in what, like half an hour or something or Yeah, this idea was actually made a lot shorter time here. So, as you can see again, Garage Band is amazing to come up with quick ideas like this, just play around with different ideas. Then when you have an idea, you can you can also save this. So let's say that you have logic install or you planning to get logic Pro X. Then you can create a lot of different ideas in garage band. You can save them as GarageBand projects, and then you can open them up in logic, so we'll get the same things as you get gotten in garage band, but in logic. And then you can start to build your track on there So you can say that GarageBand iss liken introversion off logic. And if you want to create a full track like a serious work on that track Ah, they Yeah, they have it set up like that. So you have almost have to buy logic, pretend to get it done. And, of course, you can make tracks. It can makes full tracks. Um, with GarageBand, they can export it and makes it on some other in like, software. And you can do something some stuff like that, of course, but I think that the garden is very good to come up with quick ideas. Since logic. It's such a big software big audio workstation, then it can be a lot of distractions, and and GarageBand doesn't have them, doesn't have the distractions and all of endless possibilities, since God's plan is pretty limited. But you can still do a lot. You can still have a lot of different ideas put in there and be creative. So Guardsman is a great tool for being creative. So let's take a listen to the track, and after that I'm going to see you in the next lecture
