About This Class

In this class will be demonstrating the basics of doing four point perspective drawings.  First I will discuss the theories behind four point, such as “what is four point perspective” “how and when do you use four point perspective” essentially the W5H of the subject matter.  Secondly I will demonstrate some basic applications of four point perspective such as drawing a box in four point and an interior or exterior scene.  Lastly I will be demonstrating a scene drawn out in four point perspective.

If you are interested in drawing various types of perspective scenes, then knowing how to draw four point perspective is a skill set you should at least have a basic understanding of.  This is something that can be applied artistically for backgrounds or animation layouts.  Just about any type of warping scene could utilize four point perspective.

Learning four point … as well as anything else can be complex … but everything is till you know how.  I will attempt to simplify four point with the basics of four point, and with these basics you should be able to figure out how to do anything in four point.

1. Introduction: Greetings. I'm online and I'm on the air bringing you another Skillshare tutorial because I strongly believe that it's Skillshare in time. So where are we waiting for? Let's share some skills. In this tutorial, in this school sharing session, I wanted to cover drawing things utilizing 4 perspective. First I will be covering the theories such as was 4 perspective. Why is it used? Basically the, There'll be five h of the use of four-point perspective. Next, this drone shot, we'll be able to see 4 perspective in full effect. In an interior environment, we can see how various elements warp around and compliance to four points. Then we will do a panoramic shot, which is similar to the stroke Sean. Only the panoramic as the name entails can basically loop around infinitely. Finally, I like to motivate you to attempt to doing a cityscape with 4 perspective. You can see my process. I'll start with refs and guides our refine the refs. Then finally, I shall find tune their us with details. Basically making it look pretty. I'd be really interested to see what kind of cool things you can come up with. So without further ado, let's get started. It's gonna be epic. 2. Theories and Practice: Greetings, I'm online and I'm on the air, bring you guys another Skillshare tutorial because I strongly believe that it's Skillshare in time where we waiting for sharing some skills. What is 4 perspective? In short, a scene which utilizes for different points, IT control the perspective of an object in 3D space. How is it used? Well, for point perspective would give you a kind of controlled distorted view. Kind of like the view you would get from looking through a door, people or camera with a higher field of view. It would give you a type of fish eye effect. A four-point perspective might look something like this. This is strange and confusing. How can you have four points controlling it? An object with three points, you have the side vanishing points. The third vanishing point placed vertically giving your object more depth. How can you factor a fourth of BP into this equation? Well, that's all for now for answers to those questions because you just have to stay tuned and check out some more of my visa Skillshare tutorial is about 4 perspective. So if you are new here to Skillshare, make sure to hit the subscribe button. If you enjoyed this video, make sure you drop alike and until next time. Keep creating, feed your muse and good luck out there because I know it can be rough. 3. Four Point Box: Greetings, I'm online and I'm on the air bringing you another Skillshare tutorial because I strongly believe that it Skillshare in time. So where are we waiting for? Let's share some skills. Drying or box in 4 perspective. Basically, it's more of an advanced or evolved two-point perspective. It's 2 perspective on steroids. You'd have your first two, left and right. Fewer B's on the horizon line, overlapping the second set of movies, as I'm demonstrating over here. First, firstly, you have to start with the four-point framework. Faith or vanishing points. Dr. vertical bisecting lines. This can be oriented vertically to draw tall structures like skyscrapers from the intersecting lines. Secondly, from day the intersecting lines, intersecting vertical lines. The two arcs drawn to new arcs between the left BP pair. Are you guys seeing what I'm seeing? That that's a box to dad. Now thirdly, from the corners of the new vertical. You want to draw for new arts, to draw the back sides, the back faces of the box. Congratulations, you just drew your first four perspective box. You should give yourself a pat on the back. No, I'm serious. I'm not being sarcastic or anything. I think this is quite an accomplishment. It might not seem like much, but I personally think it is. Hopefully you guys have more luck doing this than me. The first time round. If you've done it very accurately, the lines and arcs should be correct. If you're not so fortunate, you have to go back and fix a few things or fledge them a little bit. That's all for now. If you're new here to Skillshare and make sure you hit the subscribe button if you enjoyed this for you, make sure you drop a like and until next time. Keep creating and feed your muse and good luck out there, because I know it can be rough. 4. The Strobe Shot: Greetings, I'm online and I'm on the air bringing you another Skillshare tutorial and because I strongly believe that it's Skillshare in time. So where are we waiting for? Let's share some skills. The strobe shot, drawing a box inside the bisecting lines and 4 perspective is fine. But what if you wanted to draw stuff for? And I eventually, that's stretching out of out of those bisecting lines. This is where the stroke shock comes in or the panoramic shot. First, we're going to have to start from your 0.4 framework than drawing the walls of your room. It kind of resembles a magnetic field or maybe a warp field. If you're a fan, you can see more people. Now, you would have to do the same for the other side to get your grid. Really does look like a warp field. I'm doing this all three. Heck, I don't think this program has a proper tools to do something like this. Foreign 5 perspective wasn't in the developer's minds when the maids program. I don't think it needs to be perfect as long as I can get the primary theory across. I think that's what's most important. And on top of that, drawing things, sort of free hand is good practice. I think. It will help develop your, your drawing skills here. It'll sets, so it's good to drive things freehand. Everybody once in awhile and economic then on top of that, doing it freehand, It's actually faster than relying on tools 247. So you want to be able to build up to this level where you can just freehand theme. And even though it's not 100, even if it's not 100% accurate, it's close enough to be passable. I kind of went off on a tangent here. Where was I? Yes. At this point you would basically block in anything else you would want in your 4 perspective scene, windows, doors, another hallway, furniture, characters, etc. Then basically you would just draw it in and make it look nice. That's all for now. If you are new here to Skillshare and make sure to hit the subscribe button. If you enjoyed this video, make sure you drop a like and until next time. Keep creating feed your muse and good luck out there. 5. The Panoramic Shot: Greetings, I'm online and I'm on the air for you guys. Let us Skillshare tutorial because I strongly believe that it's Skillshare in time. So where are we waiting for? Let's share some skills. Panoramic shot. Another thing you can do, the four points. Four points setup is to set up a type of infinite scrolling panoramic shot. Sort of work as if you were in the middle of a box and looking all around. Like this, this drawing over here. You would need to lay down your framework and draw the horizon lines and circles like before. Make sure you use perfectly round circles when doing this kind of thing. The absolute top and bottom of those circles, I supposed to represent the maximum height of your scene. Nothing else shouldn't be drawn above or below the circles. Anything is placed there, it'd be distorted or diagonal vanishing points. Extend the lines connecting vanishing points, creating a grid-like pattern. I know this is kind of kind of sound like I'm contradicting myself. Just level with me here. Now, notice everything past the circles really skews. Okay, now that, now that your, your framework is all laid out, it should look something like this. I don't know your worldview or pattern. We're probing panoramic. It, it should look something like this. Now the general framework, now you can draw in your scene. Maybe something like this. Looks like four feet. Start trying gonna be like magnetic fields here. As you can see, starch like man, Ben. They know that's just in time to the owner. Either. It won't make certainly. Here's something I want you guys to take note of. These are the four different corner of the room. That's our question. I'm just saying right. With the rest of these areas because you're in the middle and it's going to run out of everybody who lived all around. Then whatever is on one side is inevitably be beat over to the other side. Eventually to spend to infinitely. So. That's all for now. If you are new here to Skillshare, make sure to hit that subscribe button. If you enjoyed this video, make sure you drop a light and until next time. Keep treating figure mus and good luck out there because I know it can be tough. 6. Panoramic City Scape Roughs: Greetings. I am online and on the air between you and other Skillshare tutorial because I strongly believe and it's Skillshare in time. Where are we being for that share some skills. The panoramic cityscape. You can use a similar process for setting up something like a cityscape with 4 perspective. Here. I'm going to be making up for point perspective cityscape. Obviously. You're going to need for a circles representing In North, South, East, and West. Fifth circle. Bleeding off the edge to create looping effect for using this is the important part. Fifth circle, bleeding off the edge to create the looping effect for your seat. Draw the rest of your horizon lines like we did before. We've been doing all this time for a full perspective. Another work field, the center and the sides of each sphere in your, in your scene will control the sides of each object. In your composition. If you have an object that hits a BP dead-on, it will adjust receipt. I can one print perspective or the sides of the VPS will control the subject. Kind of like demonstrating over here. This is my first step of the panoramic cityscape, just laying down the foundations, the general framework and explaining how work field, or 4, perspective frame layout is probably going to affect different objects in the scene. That's all for now. If you're new here to Skillshare, make sure to hit the subscribe button. If you enjoyed this video, make sure to drop a link and until next time, keep creating feature mus and good luck out there, because I know it can be tough. 7. Panoramic City Scape Refined Roughs: Greetings, I'm online and I'm on the air bringing you another Skillshare tutorial because I strongly believe that it Skillshare in time where we waiting for, Let's share some skills. That will be the second part of my panoramic city cityscape drawing demonstration. Now let's say you're in the middle of a city streets. Here's a little street thing. He was in North and South Side, east and west, middle. This situation, five-point perspective would, in the work like how I will demonstrate now. Here's a drawing of one quadrant. One, just one quadrant. And warbler, our framework circle means you shouldn't be able to draw asked the top or lower parts of the circle is here. As I described before, if anything is pleased. There. Above the top or bottom, the circles, they'd be distorted or diagnose managing points. I wanted to show how a building look in 5 from the top. However, since the angle is so slight, you you may be able to just budget and be sure to vary up the building sizes and shapes. That will make the scene more interesting. Notice the two Northwest quadrants on the sides of the composition are perfect duplicates. This is essentially allowing the image to loop around infinitely. That's all for now. If you're new here to Skillshare and make sure to hit the subscribe button. If you enjoyed this video, make sure to drop our ligand until next time. Keep creating feature music. Good luck out there. Because I know it can be tough. 8. Panoramic City Scape Adding Details: Greetings, I'm online and I'm on the air at bringing you another Skillshare tutorial because I strongly believe that it's good during time. So where are we waiting for? Some skills? The rest of this tutorial is a matter of application, adding details and polishing it up a bit. So I'll do that and you can watch my process. That might give you some ideas of how to approach doing something like this. A while ago, I asked someone if they understood four or 5 perspective. They attempted to explain to me. You can have as many vanishing points in a scene as you want. Technically speaking, this is correct, but having multiple VPs in the scene doesn't make the scene came multi-point perspective. See. Multi-point perspective denotes multiple VPs controlling how a single-subject appears. Where was I going with this? Well, I guess there wasn't really a point to this story. No point, multipoint truth suspected, never mind. So why would you want to utilize four or 5 perspective? Being an artist, I'm certain you can find artistic reasons for this. Sometimes in animation. It will do for point perspective, for layout, for having a character walking across the sea. In 1994 goes to the shell. They actually animated as seen using 4 perspective. For the layman, the normal person. I don't know if that's the correct term to use here. Someone that's not artistically inclined, that doesn't make study or practice all of this kind of stuff. This particular scene. It's no big deal. But those that studied, studied this kind of stuff, that practice it. And tell you that this is actually a spectacular piece of work. Because nobody does stuff like this. Well, it's extremely rare, at least at any rate. Low these days. I imagine if someone wanted to do something like this, I'll, they'd have to do is animate something on a computer and played with the FOB and just draw over it. I've heard the argument that newer generations of artists are not as strong as older generations, because newer generations are becoming more and more dependent on computers to do stuff like that for them. I hate to say it, but I think this is actually kind of true. That's all for now. If you're new here, just Skillshare, make sure to hit the subscribe button. If you enjoyed this video, make sure you drop a like and until next time. Keep treating future muse. And good luck out there. Because I know it can be tough.
