1. Introduction: Hello learners, welcome to my class in which I'm going to teach you how to produce modern house music. As you know, knowing how to produce music is an extremely valuable skill for any electronic music producer. Generous, altered and grown significantly to what time breaking out into a multitude of sub-genres and styles, especially since it has been around for so long. It serves as the basis water is often referred to as electronic dance music, EDM in short, it's pioneers and trendsetters where Frankie, not because of Ron, Heidi and net relevant in the late 1970s and early 1980s at some June which computers and music recording equipment away and accessible to everyone. In fact, according to the Computer History Museum, the world's first personal computer was introduced in 1971, invented by jump Brett can bake of the Campbell Collaboration. But DAWs didn't yet exist at the time, so you can't produce our record music with it. As 0 score odd is resorted to Oscar music recording equipment. Fortunately, technology's improved through what Tom and computers are now more powerful. That recording hand producing music is now more accessible than ever before. And this is true even without a computer, as it cannot produce professionally suddenly music using a smartphone. However, for this course, I recommend that you use a laptop or a PC. So let's get started. 2. Chord Progression: Hello again, learners, welcome to the first lesson in which we are going to create our car progression. But before we start, there is a basic two-part one to give you guys. And to explain this, I'm going to open the grand piano on the FL Studio piano roll. And before we start our recommend, you say your tempo around 110.115 BPM. Now I'm sure you are familiar with scales in music, a typical major scale, e.g. is made up of seven chords, each of which is based on a note in the scale. The C major scale is a good place to start. The seven nodes that make up the C major scale are C, D, E, F, G, a, and b. And cons in a C major scale can be constructed by using any of these seven key nodes. In order to do so, let me show you how. Let us start with C. The first note in the C major scale, as C major scale is constructed by fusing the third and fifth note of the scale above it, which should be E and G. We can do this for every degree of the C major scale to create all the fundamental or basic chords. And now that I've given you guys a basic tip of the theory behind basic or beginner level courts, we should now can we go on with our lesson of creating our modern house song? And the model zone that we are going to create is called Ummah piano. I'm appearing as a general of house music that is categorized by a unique blend of various stars of house music, generous based in South Africa with the focus on catchy, repetitive melodies and a strong baseline, the Jarrod has grown to become one of the most popular, generous in South Africa. Recently it has gained popularity across the globe with many of its songs and Desmos going viral on social media platforms like TikTok. So as a producer from South Africa, I thought it's high time. I teach students across the globe how to produce the genera. My main aim is to teach you how to create a hit song. So I'm going to use the key nodes that are used in most popular hit songs. If you play a piano, you probably noticed that a lot of songs in the same key knows that sound good in there cause progression. The keys recall in most popular hit songs, regardless of the songs, general lyrics, or melody, you may use those keys in your cars progression, whether you're composing your next hit or learning to play tunes for your next event. For this song, I think we should start with an F major, which is quite an emotional key. And unlike the basic knowledge that I've just given you guys, I'm actually going to imply more keys on. I'm actually going to employ more keys on. I'm actually going to make sure to go in. I'm actually going to employ more keys on them. I'm actually going to make sure to go into. And unlike the basic knowledge, and unlike the basic knowledge that has, not unlike the basic knowledge, that has just an unlike the basic knowledge that has just giving you guys, I'm actually going to employ more keys on the major scale that I'm going to use. Usually an underlying emotion can be conveyed by the use of F-major, too bad, It's a faint trans C21 to imply that F-major on the FL Studio PEN a role and we are going to use A5. I think we should make the node longer. Then we're going to employ F5, C5 for F4. And lastly, yes, C4b. And I think we should hear how they sound. And before I do that, I realized that I actually set my tempo to 115. So I'm going to set it to 110 BPM and less play and hear how the sound. Okay, Nice. Next I think we're going to need a piece and sound didn't know that can evoke a bead of softness, which should be a G major. Suppose. In most songs, a G major is usually considered peace and sounding while evoking feelings of communists and serenity. To translate the G major chord on the effort studio piano roll, I'm going to employ B5, then J5, J4, D for B3, and a G3. And let's hear how they sound. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Now I think the next key that I'm going to use should also sound emotional. This means our song is likely going to evoke strong emotions. So I think I should employ a minor key because minor keys often evoke strong emotions. While the B minor is said to be the most emotional for this song, I'm going to use and a minor key instead. The keys that make up the a minor chord on the FL Studio piano roll is C6, A5, C5, A4, E4, C4, and a three. And I think we should play in how the chord progression sounds so far. Nice. Leslie, I'm going to employ a G-major once more, which is B5, G5, T4, D4, B3, and g. And we are going to play the CASP regression to see how the sound. Now before moving on to our next lesson, we are going to make our car progression 8 bar long. To do that, simply copied the whole progression. Hold shift, and drag the whole progression to the next 4 bar. After doing this, we are going to make the last 4 bar that we just duplicate it. Unique saw that the sun doesn't sound boring or repetitive. And when you do that for your project, I recommend that you try out different key nodes until you find the ones that form another good sounding and unique for bass pattern. But these cars progression that I've just duplicated, I'm just going to remove a B5, C6, and also this b5. And after this, we are going to employ a different element. Instead of. After doing that, we are going to employ a different element, which should be strings, I suppose. And to find swings, you should go to our Castro's strings. You can use them. But for this song, I think I'm going to use strings from puberty. So let's go and find QED. Let's go to Presets. Strings. The strings that we are going to use is delayed Jarrow strings. And after this we're going to begin. Hear how it sounds. Amazing, amazing, amazing. Now I think we compete with our chord progression. But when composing your own unique 8 bar, cause it might be difficult for you if you are a beginner, so don't be discouraged if you're struggling to create or compose a cop progression That sounds good, just tried different sounds and to discover something amazing. So let's move on to the next lesson. 3. Percussion: Welcome to the second lesson, learners, as we have now finished creating our costs progression, we can now create a nod element. And the element that we are going to create is the percussion. I'm a piano, is a deep enlarged version of how sub-genre that is defined by synthesisers in trouble house inspired precautions. So it's percussion set it apart from other generals of house music. But perhaps the most crucial and unique component of the Gemara is its usage of the log drum, which we are also going to work on later on. For this lesson, we are only going to focus on the percussion. But since efforts to you or doesn't come with the percussion pigs that I'm going to use. I've decided to include them on the project resources because you guys are going to need them when creating sample projects. After finishing distress, the sun peg gets called mellow and sleazy. It has all the percussion elements that you need that are relevant to among piano. Firstly, I'm going to start by adding the percussion elements that we are going to use for this song. I'll start by adding a bone goal. Okay, I think we're going to go for this one. I'm going to add a green. Let's pick this one. Then we're going to add a term k. Let's pick this one. Next. We are going to add a conga. Add this one. Then lastly, I'm going to add shake us. Let's pick this one and also this one. Now at this point I should also be adding other elements like a snake or clips, which are also classified as precautions, but are actually work on them on the drum lesson. For now, we are going to create the percussion using only these instruments. So let's start with the Bango. So firstly, I'm going to imply a note here. Then the second one here. The reason why I'm employing different cases because I'm trying to create a rhythm with the boundary itself. It shouldn't just be on one key. The following note that I think we should employ is perhaps say before. Then another E5. Then we're going to apply two nodes here. Then let's play in here the results. Okay, I think that sounds in place. What I should do now is duplicate the bar and maybe remove this last node. Then I'm going to duplicate the bus once more to make them 8 bar long. Now let's bring in the results. Okay, Perfect. Next we are going to work on the rim and likewise less open it on the FL Studio piano roll. And I'm going to start by employing a note here and zoom in. Then I'm going to apply another note here, and another one here. And I think we should apply or less note here. The second bar. I'm going to start applying a note here, followed by another one here, and another one here. After this, I think we should duplicate them and clone them again to make them 8 bar long. Now, let's play in the results. Rod, we are definitely making good progress. Next, we are going to work on the term. With the term we don't have to apply many nodes. What we are going to do with a prior note on the last block of the second bar. Then let's play to hear whether the sounds in place. Then we go into apply another one here. Once more or less, play in here whether that's sounds in place, arrive. The next element that we are going to work on is the conga. And let the bone goal. We're also going to try to create a bit of rhythm with the bone itself. Let's begin by applying our first node here. Then apply another one here, and another one here. But actually I think we should slide is these ones with the cutting tool, the slicing tool. To do that, just hold shift. And there you go. And after that, let's simply duplicate them. Then let's play in how the sound I'm going to use nowadays sound. Awesome. Next we are going to work on to shake us. And while we are not going to do much, Let's open them on the FL Studio piano roll. Firstly, I'm going to apply in node here. Let's zoom in. And after this less here, where the shaker loop ends. Okay, they shake a loop ends here. So after this I'm going to apply a node here, then another one here. But after this, I think I should simply duplicate them. Then duplicate them once more to make them 8 bar long. Let's hear how they sound. Next, let's open the shaker. Applying note and likewise play and here where the loop ends. Okay, let's increase the volume. This one ends here. So I'm going to apply another node there and apply them consistently until at the aid bar. But actually, to make things simpler, let's just duplicate them. Flown them one small them once again to make them 8 bar long. Then let's see how they sound. A ride perfect. Now at this point we are done with our percussion. We can now move on to the next lesson. 4. Drums: What come to the third lesson? Learners haven't finished creating our percussion. It is now time to work on the drums. But we're not going to add many elements like on the percussion. In fact, like I said earlier, most percussion elements are also classified as drums, are actually needed to make you guys realize which percussion elements are the most vital and crucial when it comes to producing am a piano. If you are a beginner producer as suppose you must know the primary difference between drums and percussion. But comprehending what is referred to as ramps is also important when a musician is referred to as a drama, it usually refers to the ability to play a drum set, which is the most prevalent form of drum. Drum sets can be a caustic electronic visual, and typically include a snare drum, bass drum, and terms. Although there are various contraptions that vary depending on the general and Ben setup. On this lesson, we are only going to work on the snare and the kick. So let's start by adding the kick. Okay, Let's pick this 1.1 crucial factor about Amar. Piano drum kick says that they are very light. They don't hit hard. The aim of the light kick drums is to create room for the baselines to stand out. And what we need to do is to create a four-step kick and lend me, please so you could hear how almost in let me please. So let me please so you could hear how almost indexing and let me play and let me please. So you could hear how almost indexed into kicks on with the percussion and rums. Right now, that's how I'm a piano, kick some meat. Next we are going to add a snare. Okay, I think we should go with the first one. We're going to start by applying our first node here. Actually let's apply it here. Followed by another one here, another one here, then another one here. And let us see another one here. So let's hear how it sounds. Actually lets remove this one and move this one here. Actually, let's move it here. After this, we're going to duplicate it and perhaps add another node here. Now, let's play and hear how it sounds and let's increase the volume. Okay, Yeah, I think we should duplicate it to make it 8 bar long. Doubtless play once more to hear the results. What's roughness and miss complete, we can now move on to the next lesson. 5. Bass Section: Welcome to the fourth lesson. Hope you guys enjoyed the previous ones. On this lesson, you are going to work on the base. So let's start by adding all the base elements that we're going to use. This term we are going to use FL Studio plugins. So let's go to instruments. Then open the base folder. And I think we should add this one. And this one. Next. I think we're going to need a CSRP. And I think I know where to find one. That's open presets. And let's pick the bed just saw up. And finally now we're going to add they log drum. If you are a lender that pays attention, I'm sure you remember that I mentioned that the log term is one of the most commonly used instruments in AMA piano music. It is often used to create the driving with him and groove that is a hallmark of the genera. To find the log dram, go to fruit with dx ten open presets. And you should find one right here. And I'm also going to add another one so we can try a different sound. Okay, Now let's start with the Force Base element. And when it comes to the base, that dominant keys of your cup regression are the ones that you should apply for the base. So for this song, that means I'm going to start with an F-major. F-major, I'm going to play a G major, followed by an a minor and a nod, a G major. And after this less play and hear the results. Okay, at this point in this zone, the 4 bar to make them 8 bar long. Once more to hear how they sound. Okay, I think we are done with this base element. Now we are going to do the same for the slab base. And what we're going to do is to simply copy and paste. And likewise, let's do the same for the badges SOP. And after this, less played them individually to hear how they sound. So we're going to start with the slap bass. Ryan now I think that sounds good. Next, let's hear the bed just sob. Ryan. Now so far the song sounds amazing. Now we're going to start working on our false logged drum. And likewise, we are going to stick to the dominant keys of our progression, but this time we're going to create a groovy rhythm. So let's open the lock drum on the FL Studio PEN of Rome. And we're going to start by applying our first key on f, the re. Let's make the shot and zoom in one small. After this, we're going to apply another node here, followed by another F-minor here, and another one here. On the second bar. I'm going to apply the nose the same way, but this time on G3. Then do the same on the third bar, but this time please them on a minor. After this, I think we should play in here where that they sound in place. Okay, I think we should turn our badges off. Then link our log drum to a mixed channel and increase the volume all the way. Now let's hear how it sounds. Let's try applying and also apply here. And actually here. On the fourth bar, we are going to apply them on G minor. Then move the last two keys up to eight minor. On the fifth bus. Same thing, but this time on F minor. But actually to make things easier, I'm actually going to duplicate these bars. Then I'm going to zoom into the last bar to try and make it different, groovy with the one. And to do that, I think we should move our G minor, a minor. Then move this a minor, G minor. And I think we should play in here the results. I think we should add a sudden, you guys. Okay, Awesome, awesome, awesome. Now let's tend to slug drop off and work on another one. On this one, we're also going to start with an F minor. Then apply another one here. Another one here. Then let's apply it once more here. And also apply your G minor here. Actually, let's apply our G minor here. Then on the second Brown, going to start applying those the same way I did like on the force bar, but this time on G minor. Then let's remove these nodes. And we are going to apply. And note here, actually let's apply it here. Followed by another note here. Perhaps you should try it on an F minor instead. On the third block. Same thing. But this time on eight minor. Then we are going to apply a one next node here, and another one here. And the fourth black, same thing. But this time on G minor. Then we are going to apply an a minus here. On the sixth bar, we're going to duplicate our workforce bar. Actually that was the fifth bar. So on the sixth bar, we're going to start the width a G minus suppose, followed by another one here. Then we are going to apply an a minor. A lot by note on CFO. I think that is too fast, so let's apply it here instead. And lastly, we're going to apply a note on d3, on a D minor. Surely we should apply it here. On the next bar. We are going to duplicate the previous bar. Then we are going to move these g minus and plays them here. And under less black. Let's start with a G minor, followed by another one here, another one here. Then perhaps we should apply in a minor. Followed by note here. Actually, I think these are too close to each other, so I think we should apply this node here instead. And lastly, we should just apply a B minor. But actually a thing, these mean not sound in place. So there are some changes I need to make here. So let's place this note here. And place this D minor here. Okay, after this, let's pray in here how it's sound. Okay, Awesome, awesome, awesome. I have this point. We're compete with the baseline. We can now move on to the next lesson. 6. Melodies: Welcome to the fifth lesson. Let us, now in this lesson we are going to create the melodies for our song. We're going to create melodies for our cup regression to provide a magnetic structure and emotional content to our underlying harmonies. Since our cup progression provides a harmonic framework for our song, our main aim is to create a melody to complement and enhance that framework. Melodies are usually based on the notes of the cars being played and the way the melody interacts with the cards can create tension, release, and other emotional effect by carefully choosing which nodes to emphasize on how to shape the melody, we can create a sense of movement, drama, and resolution that can hide in the emotional impact of the song. But this song, we're going to use the stage grand piano to create our force melody. Let's add the stage grand piano. Then let's open it on the FL Studio PEN role. Firstly, I'm going to apply a note here. Make sure this is inline mode. Now let's apply our node. Okay, I think we should make this note a bit longer, make it reached this point. And make this one a little shorter. 2 bar long actually to black swan. Then next we're going to apply a note on B5. Then I think we should treat to hear whether the sounds in place. Next week. I think it's actually easier to create the melody the song is playing. So let's keep on playing the song. Under lesbian. We're going to apply in note here, then another one here. Then lastly, we going to apply a note here. So let's play in how they sound. Okay, After this, we go into clone them to add a low octave. Then let's play in here how the sound, actually the sound of four. So we go into tries. Actually the sound awful. So we're going to try something else. And instead of adding a lower octave, I think we should add an upper octave. Then let's play and he the results. Then we go into link stage grant to a mixer channel so that we can add effects. Firstly, we go into add as sudden good eyes as well as a reverb. And the reverb that I'm going to add is from patcher. I think we should also decrease the volume since we have added the sun Buddhism. Then let's play and hear how it sounds. Okay, Perfect. Now I think that is a strong, memorable memory that will make this song's part of it. Now I think that is a strong, memorable memory that will make the song stand out and become more memorable. Next, let's add another element which I think should be a, I think it should be a morphing. The element that we are going to add from morphine is a trombone, which is another element that is relevant to our map PEN. So let's open the trombone on the FL Studio piano roll. And let's zoom in. And we're going to apply our false note here. Let's make it a shot. And let's play in here whether didn't know to sound in place. Okay, I think we should make the trombone unique, so we're going to add another note here. Shortly. Let's apply it here. Then we should carry on applying or a minor. Let's play in here. We should have known. Make it a lot. This week going to add, and let's play any sound. Let's try it. Right, I think that trombone is welcome pride. Next we're going to add a scene. And I think the sin that we are going to add should be from GMS. Let's look for synth. Okay, let's try this one. We're going to start by employing a note here. Let's zoom in and make it a shot. Next we are going to apply our node here. And likewise apply a force following each other. Let's apply this one here. This one here. Let's increase the volume. And he had the sound. Okay, They definitely sound out of place. So let's make adjustments. Okay, This time the sun in place, so let's carry on applying other nodes. But to make things easier, let's just duplicate this bar. Then duplicate that one small, and duplicate it again to make it 8 bar long. Then let's play and how it sound. Okay, yeah, I think that sounds great. So next we're going to need another synth. And assume that we are going to use. This time is from Pew 3D. Let's go to Presets. See it's actually slow since and pick that tray mole of signal. What we're going to do is apply an a minor. Then make it long to reach the eighth bar. Let's zoom in. Make sure it reaches this line. I think we should play in heat how it sounds. Before we play thing, we should turn the mellowed that stage grand piano off. Now, let's play it and hear how it sounds. Ride. Amazing, amazing, amazing. Next, why we need as a closing melody. And the element that I think we should use for our workflows in melody should be a plug. So let's go find a plug. And let's try a space plot. Zoom in. And we're going to start placing a false note. Let's make it shut. Firstly, let me make it reach this line. And said this online mode. I think we should make it this long. Next node is going to be, then the next one is going to be. Okay, we're going to apply another note here. Okay, As you can see, this is also easier to create while playing the song. But as you heard this note sound out of place. Okay, I think we should link it to the mix a channel, then add some effects. Okay, at this point the song is complete. What we need now is to preview it and hear how it sound. So let's go to the next step. 7. Song Preview: Welcome to the final step. Let us, now that our song is complete, we should play it from beginning to finish three here, the final results, as you can see, I've already arranged a song on the first video playlist, decided not to include the arrangement progress because it's actually up to the producer to arrange a song in any way they see fit. Fl Studio provides a lot of flexibility for producers when it comes to arranging their music. And you can experiment with different arrangements until you find the one that works best for their enemies that you have created. Another thing that I did was to collect and organize the elements I've created on the channel wreck mixing channel, as well as the FL Studio playlist. So without further ado, let's press Play so you guys can hear the full song. Thank you for joining me in this course and hope you gain valuable insights and techniques that will help you in your music to adapt being journey. I would also love to get a project samples that you have created using the techniques that you have learned in this course. Please share them with me so I can provide feedback and see your progress.
