Fingerpainting in oils - Windowbox

1. WindowBox 01 Intro: Hello and welcome to this will painting close. My name is Angie, another writer and artist in this girl's I'm going to show you how you can easily paint with oil pains using your fingers only I wanted this close to be accessible to beginners who have never used a little pain before, as well as to anybody. You guys may be used to paint that want to try different. So the image that I chose is one where you could easily change up the colors according to what you have. If you have a special oil pains, and if you're a beginner than you can only go by a few pounds, you don't have to buy a whole a whole lot of. So the image offers a lot of variety, and that seems well. Painting with fingers is a really relaxing experience, and to me it feels almost like a meditative experience. I don't you with my fingers and not with brushes or knives. There's something about being able to feel the factory rich quality of the paint on your fingertips, and even they will be wearing gloves. You can still feel the quality of times that you're using and how the difference in texture and a difference in pressure that you put makes a difference to what you get on the campus . So I really encourage you to take a few hours to yourself and enjoy the spent experience with me so that you can experience the lovely quality off in defending yourself. The other 20 without fingers is that the peanut is minimal. Anybody who's familiar with that, the cleanup is really quite a hassle if you have to clean brushes. But it's not so much with brushes, really quite hard to clean it and put up. Too many people want to do oil painting, but they don't want to be in contact with the Sullivans or big clean prices off to it. So finger painting we don't use any solvents, and the cleanup really is minimal. So I really encourage you to give it a try. So I hope that you'll join me in this class in role now and then I'll see in the next section. We're going the materials that we need 2. WindowBox 02 Materials: Okay, so in this section, I just want to go over what we will need for the class. The first thing you're going to need is some surgical gloves. These are really cheap to come by, and I only wear them on the hand that I'm painting with. Some people like to put it on both hands. That's up to you. I should put them on both ends. My other hand, always get studio, but I just weird on the handle, actually painting with. So he's a really cheap that come in small, medium and large. And for my hand, I use a small. It is important that it's a very tight fitting glove. You don't want it to be loose, because then it could be really difficult to control the paint. Other than that, you will need a surface to paint on, so your finger painting you can do on any surface that suit you. I quite like this wheel paper. It's this one is made by hand nebula, and it's an oil and acrylic paper. It's already primed As a beginner. You wouldn't need to do anything. It can just buy your oil painting paper and stick it up and get going. And even though we're finger painting and we're going to use a lot of our colors straight from the tube, I do use a palette as well, because I like to mix my if you are going to using all your colors straight out of the truth, and you don't need a pallet off course. But if you're a beginner and you need to know about planets, you can buy these do penance there. Not too expensive, and they work really well. Um, when you finish planting, you just see the sheet off when you throw it away. Then you don't need to worry about cleaning appellate. But I have a glass planet that I use and you'll see it in across the other thing. You need kitchen towel lots and lots of kitchens. How to keep the colors pier. Every time we get a different color on my fingertip, you wipe and you take more color. So that's how you keep. Your kind is nice and clean. Lots of kitchens up in this close. I do use a palette knife. It doesn't really matter what size it is. It's just for the aging three. Each of the palette knife makes and I straight line. So we will be using the ballot night that I used to mix my colors with. So if you're not mixing, then that's fine. But it is handy for the ages, and then the colors that I'm using in this class, I'm going to be using cadmium, yellow, primary science, cadmium read, cobalt blue, burned number on white, and I'm using a titanium. What? So if you're going to be changing the colors, so the blue that mixes for the we know soul on my colors. My flowers are obviously the yellow and the orange the green eye makes myself so. If you don't want to mix colors, they by the greens. But otherwise it's quite easy to make sure green. So, um, that's what there is kind of full the any, so you can obviously flowers any color you like. If you want the room purple flowers, you can Any blue global paint, the white and the bones number is for the wall in the background, so I would say you have to have those two. But the recent the colors, um, the blues. Can you read the cadmium yellow I would say you can. You can change this up to what you want. And actually I used to get menu knows I've got a cadmium yellow deep, and I've got a cadmium yellow light. So So, depending on the colors you want to choose, this is the image will be painting. If you want to Flowers different colors, please find those colors. Don't get the ones that got And if you want your window box in your window to not believe you want to be different color, please buy that color. Don't bother with. So I would say the only of compulsory covers for this car to be that spontaneous white on the other for the background and I'll see in the first class. 3. WindowBox 03 BasicWall: to start. We're going to start on the background here on the wall that the windows on and I'm using white straight out of the tube, which is the masking about finger painting because you can so make sure your gloves fit really well, there should be nice and tight. I may not take, Have you? Conceive is just a little bit and for the war, because that's such a big space. We're gonna work with three fingers, So $1.2 dollars, $3. If you really want to use a palate, you can you squeeze out your wife, print on the palate and he just dip your fingers in. So but the wall is really fun because we're gonna just literally you sort of make up fingers. We go all over the wall or right, so you've got paint on your three fingers, and then you just start tapping and we're not talking all over the wall. So this is supposed to be a white plastered wall, and so it has a little bit of texture, and I hope you can see the little bumps coming up there, and then you take some or and you move on we're going to cover the whole wall and we're not talking. I'm actually tapping quite light. One thing about finger painting is that you have to work lighter than you think you would. Um, if you can hear the little tipsy, but they're quite light and they're just little almost like you likely playing Pienaar August, and then you take some or and you move across. Now you'll find as you cover, depending, of course, on how big your canvas or your surfaces as you do this movement. If you're not used to it, your fingers can get tired and they can start going with funny. And then it's OK to use one finger and just tap tap, tap, tap, tap the toe used to of him. It doesn't matter how you do it. Just cover the whole war with the bite. Now remember not to smooth out your painting. You want the little peaks that we're creating, and as you do it, you'll see it starts to look like a white close to bowl with some texture on it. And that's exactly what you want. So my paint is not particularly sick. Your it's quite fun, something that in places. I can almost see a bit of that, my textured paper shining through. So, like I said, I'm using Hana meatless oil paint paper, which has a little bit of texture. It's quite nice, so this first layer isn't everything. I know some finger paintings. The paint is very thick and we'll get to thicker paint later. But this first wall just move across gente and it's quite thin. It's more the texture that we're after here. So I'm going to carry on doing this. And you didn't we just go around the picture? We're not really doing over the whole picture. Gonna go around it and then I'll meet you back your when your whole surface is covered with white bucket. Okay, so by now your paid should be pretty much covered in playing white. One of it. So I wanted to show you how I go close to the ages, and with this particular image, it's not really important to not go over the image off the lines because we're gonna paint over the anyway quite thickly so. And that is another reason why I chose this as the project because it's quite a forgiving picture to paint so you can use one finger and just gently tap tap tap in the bottom yet just left until we've covered it. So even though your paint system you don't really want to see any canvas underneath and just to show you all squeeze very, very little bit out, it's not huge amounts of paint that are squeeze up at a time. And so, around the ages here, I kind of go sideways on the top detective until my wall is covered. So you get to move your body around and really get in there and do what is comfortable for you. You find that the harder UTEP, Um, you make sort of more peaks, but they depends how much paint you have on your finger time. Otherwise, you flatten out other peaks. And with you, when you're done, we're gonna go over the wall now again. But when you're done, just step back. This is something you do with finger painting. Often you step back and you look because when you do fingerprinting, um, you can't really the two realistic you can. You can't be too detailed is probably a better word. Your finger is only that I think so. There are ways to make it more detail to that. Just now, we will be using appellate knife with some straight lines. But that's optional, and you really don't have to. But you just want to get the overall sense. And the most important part is to have fun while you do. So move your body around, get your little peaks. However you get them and cover the whole behind, you know, behind the window. Rather not you be not your. Okay, so they were on it. I'm gonna step back and see that they are like rough peaks. Every way isn't too much. Kinda showing through anyway, actually, And if there's any little bits that you think need to be touched up, then you could do a little bit off Cassie, some camera showing through touching up. And if there's any bets, we maybe you've tapped and you flatten out your peaks just going at a few extra peaks in new so that some pieces of your canvas have peaks and some more. Okay, so they were always done. The walls, young everything. Is anyone okay? 4. WindowBox 04 DirtOnWall: between your fingertips. Kitchen. Terrel is your friend in this process, and I'm just check that you think that your gloves are still hold. So what's the end of the painting? You might find your close to mine always t But towards the end of So I took it all right now going to use my boon number. And the reason is because this is a plastered wall. It also has a bit of dirt sort of unit here in the urinate. And I chose Boone's number as my color, but it's quite dark. So you wanted to be not so dogs. You're gonna take a very little bit again straight out of a tree. But I'm barely barely squeezing any paint onto my finger. It's really a little bit, and you can see if you can even see the the mark off the tube. Okay, so we're gonna start putting the boot. I'm all over in the same way that we did the white Don't panic if you get a to dock in a certain area like I will make too darkly. Normally, when you just start, it's two dogs. Don't worry about it. Just keep on going. An educator over it. Tap tap tapped objective. Move some of the paint around a little bit with the boot Amber will go for. If it's too dark for your liking and you want another color, you can use another color. Um, imagine a CNN might work equally. Well, it will obviously be lighter, Onda. And if you want the pristine White Wall without any marks or good in it, they don't do the steps. Keep it. But I think my sort of whitewashed walls have it, so that's quite dark. We're not gonna want to keep that. That's fine. Keep on meeting. The only thing I would say with this step is you don't want around fingerprints showing because that's not going to be very realistic, and you don't want to uniformly spread either. So again, I'm just going to tap, tap, tap very little as you can see, very little pain. And I'm just going to tough it around. And I went to my figure Movements are Get that paint moving around on. This is gonna a really sort of process you're gonna start and then step back and look at it . But first, get your brown in the grooves. And again, you doing that little tap tap tap movement so that you keep your little white peaks. You don't want to smooth do all the work you didn't like and make sure that you don't have any sort of splotches of paint. It's just do it against that has accumulated on this outside war over of time. And we either you see sort of round fingerprints. We're going to either tap tap tap over there so that I disappear and we'll go over them. Just allergies. So it keep on doing that all around you, anything and not your fingers get tired. Just use one finger. They won't be certain areas off your wall that has more did another. So and what's that? Keep in mind? We're going to be putting flowers here, so not all of this wall is going to show. But don't be too precise about it. But just think maybe underneath this flower pot is might be a bit more. Do it because soil and things might run down these my content. It'll be extradited. Um, well, then I just sort of spread it around and there will be some pieces of the wall that maybe has more already made in near the bottom is more, dude, because it's closer to the ground. Okay, so let's unevenly spread, and that's fine. That's what you want. Clean your fingertips and kept your brown. Now, that's obviously not the look. We're going forward just fine, because I in the next, if you go back to your wife and you start ending, want over the bits that are too dog for your liking. Starting in this top corner way, I've obviously put too much. I'm gonna go over it with somewhat. And so you keep adjusting you war until it looks the way you wanted to look not to dog, not too light spread out. And if it's yours, you know patches that are very dark. Just put a thicker layer of white over it. But remember to step back often and have a look at it going. Okay, that's fine. That's not fine. When you're working up close like this, it would be difficult to see exactly what's going on. So do the white bits cover your brown, let some stick out, and the doctor brown will shine through the white and all create colonize a few layers, So just stay back and regret. And when you're happy with it, then or meet you back here for the legs, Okay, so now that you're happy with your wall and you've done it the way you like it, we can move on to the windows. I just want to say note on the wall that don't be afraid to go over the wall again and again and again and ready to step back often and to look at it and go. That's tudo cuts tonight, and then you can add the colors and adjusted until you're happy with it. So you can see I have left quite a bit of the dog underneath you because I think that's with sand from the flowerpot might fall down onto the wall, so I didn't go over that too much. But I liked the top it, and as you light in it and play with your brand and your wife, you'll see colors shining through. And that's fun. That's exactly what you want. All the different layers. So play with your pains. Get comfort with him. Step back. Add a bit of brown. A bit of wind would have run a bit of white until you're happy with a look of your wall 5. WindowBox 05 BasicShutters: Okay, so now we're gonna move on to the window. Um, the shutters. Rather. So I have got on my palette in African. See a bit of my primary science Andi white, which have mixed because I like the colored mix and for beginners, if you don't want to mix colors, that's fine. Use of color straight out of the tube. Go by the color that you like, But if you want to, I've just goto gloss palette with a white pipe underneath and tape around the edges. You can get a disposable pallets, and I use a palette knife to mix my color, and you just mix it bush and squash it until it's mixed. Brooklyn. And if you are familiar with oil planes, obviously you know how to do this. So I chose primary Cyan and white because I like what? What it makes makes more than you think you will need. This is just a word of caution. Makes more than you think you'll need. You always need more. Okay, so, um, fingers again, this time one finger only. Talk finger and you want to have a piece of kitchen towel ready. I have my kitchen tell in my hand underneath my palate because you're gonna want to work your fingers. So again, with the window, we're going to do more than one layer. So don't panic. This time. I'm putting quite a lot more paint on. If you can see, they can I stick dollars off? Not too much, but not as little resident area. And it's kind of on the tip of my finger, not on the pad off. My fingers are not on the ball of my finger because you can't really have a lot of control like that. But on the tip of your finger, it works better. And with us with the window, we're gonna do short little strokes. I can show you in here short. You can see them like that, but they're gonna be joined. So short little strokes, as opposed to trying to do one long stroke, which is gonna peter out in plenty. So that's not that 1 20 short little strokes going all the way down. Okay. And the window supposed you made of wood. So you're going to get the nice lines off would in it. All right. So, starting at the top, you just said that. And don't worry if it doesn't go perfectly straight in your lines, it's OK now. The one thing with fingerprint is Try not to go over the same spot again and again and again, you might have to go a little bit, but not again and again and again. Okay, when you using thick thank the office, you want the texture. You want to show the lines. You don't want to smooth it all out, you know, and I don't know if you can see, but my pain. Tanya, you can see it's clearly thicker than it is on the wall. It's nice and thick and textured. So then I go across the Tokyo and that we know is probably one of the things that's gonna take us the longest. You tried to make a straight it, but we're going to use a palette knife, but they're just not just to meet in the each of it, but trying to keep sort of in your insolence, and you want to see sort of your fingertip lines going through the If you're not seeing them, then you may be using the full of your finger where strikes are too long. you don't want any seven point And remember the way that the wood goes So the downward you want your strokes go down the bits across. You want your strokes to go across? You don't go to think that you do want the texture. We're gonna go over this again. Someone. Why? Just Okay, so then we're gonna do the little bit in the middle, so you go around the H, then you do the shutters down the middle. Yeah, And as you're doing this, if you compare attention to the feeling of the paint and your fingers into what you drink and just slow down and enjoy it, it's a bit of a time consuming process, but straight down, enjoy it. And really good interview. See, it's a very relaxing and enjoyable painting experienced. Now you've got broad rectangles and narrow rectangles the never rectangles or the dog because that's the shutters that are opens. They're going to be I'm a dog coming. You want to take the same blue and go over the broad ones as well and go sideways. So we'll add some definition to these in a later stage. For now, just put down your blue over a long, broad bits and kind of keep the narrow bits open. But don't worry if your plane goes into the narrow, but remember, this is two fingers. It's not as precise of a small brush would be. And Army tobacco in all your sluts have been painted. Okay, Okay. So when you come back, your picture should look roughly like this. Anwar, if it's a bit irregular or uneven, and we will add some details to define the windows later. For now, this is roughly what it looks like. Also at the bottom. Yeah, you're gonna have some flowers going over it, So don't worry about going exactly to the ages and things like that. 6. WindowBox 06 WeatheringShutters: it doesn't things up it. Okay, so because I would around the window is a bit with it. We're going back to our wife bent, Do you know things up property? And then again, the white paint goes on the tips of your fingers and we're gonna go just sort of up in the direction that your your wood is going so up. And this is where it starts getting a bit Shimmiri And don't put too much paint on your finger because you sort of put it on. Why, when you start seeing your finger taking on too much of the blue So you see, I put a little bit of paint only, so I don't actually waste too much. And I don't do too many strokes over the same spot because I'm not lending the covers on putting white weathering. And Okay, so go across one. And this is it. Not as difficult as it looks, But you do have to be prepared to mix a little bit. And to that feeling off, putting one thick layer of paint over another sticker plan can be daunting. I remember when I did this the first time I thought this must be wrong, but it's not okay. Just make sure your wife goes all the way to the ages. Otherwise it could make of it funny if it doesn't and keep the paint on your fingertips, and how much work you put is up to you. It's entirely up to you. So we put the white all the way around, and every time I take my hand off here, actually wipe it in this tissue in my hand. And then I said to get any of the blue and then I come back. That's why your wife can stay clean while you're going over the okay, and then we go over the sluts and again, you want to make the slats a little bit uneven. Not everything is going to be waited to the same degree, and sometimes my paint, even though the white is thick like over the benefit, concede these a bit of texture from the paint, having gone a little bit dinner like that. And then it goes over the blue paint and it looks more realistic because you want to get on your sluts. You also want to do the little bit down the middle on the same stuff. And that's a way. Step back. Take a look. Make sure the set so uneven. Um and you should have white paint all the way to the edges off most of it. That obviously doesn't have to be exact. But you don't want the one in. Don't worry too much about these bottom. Once, depending, of course. We're gonna put your flowers, but I will have some flowers over here. Maybe not both of them, but mostly everything. Okay, so that's what you lift with now. I can clean your finger once you've done that and kept you want. 7. WindowBox 07 EdgingShutters: Okay, So, coming back, you need to get You need to use your black. If you're gonna be mixing a black like I am, then mix it now. So I've got my burnt umber and cobalt blue for this. It makes a very nice dog. Cut it quite like look gloomy. Now you concede us. I never really used plain black, like mixing my own door colors. And kobo totally makes a nice Sadak than the scientists upset. Okay, What you don't going to have, Okay, so I'm going to use a palette knife for this. If you happen to have long nails and want to give it a go of your nails, that's fine. So if using a palette knife, we're just gonna use the side. So I'm gonna drag the side through it like that, and this is just full. A little would have added definition into the ages off your windows. So we're gonna just take the palette knife and go up the side or down. You don't need to have a solid line. You see, my line is kind of broken in. That's perfect. You don't need to have a solid noting the whole proper outlined just a bit of sort of way. Their window meets the wall. They'd be a little bit of a shadow. So you just want that indicated. Don't do what I just did. Don't go over it the first time. It's fine that start attempting to keep going over it. Clean your knife because you might have picked up some of the lights of blue. And then you do the top edge again. I just drag the side of the pendant man through and go along the top, and hopefully you will get a nice, even or broken line. Just indicating the top shadow is like that. Okay, I'm not going to do this site because I have. I am pretending that I have a sunshine coming from the top, right. So what I normally do is I forgot to do this at the beginning of the cross, but I might online masking tape might draw just little son. If I'm not working from a photo where it's obvious when my light is coming from, then I draw a little sun to remind the light is coming from the to that effect. I'm not gonna put a shadow on the right hand side. I'm gonna leave it on the left. So I'm not gonna each do this palette knife h on the right inside. What we are going to do another is create a little bit of an H on the top off each, not each each set, but just around the too big rectangle. So you go along the inside each and again, You want a broken mind, Nothing too obvious. You just want to indicate something that threats, and it doesn't have to be date straight. And you want to go along the top because this big blue section here is actually the top of your window and the first slept so they should be a little breaking between the So let's put it and on the other side as well. And if you go through it like I did, they will just fix that. Okay, so I don't have any sick dollops of paint on my just slip it, and then you want to do the inside as well. But again, just an unbroken line. Just for a little hint off. Something on a judge. Kind of lucky. Okay. And then on the ages. Well, so just look it, Ted, so that you can see a little bit That doesn't go across the top because the top has a friend that goes along the okay. We're not gonna do the sluts because we're gonna put our dog in me now as well. 8. WindowBox 08 ShadowsShutters: some of this Next day, if you're gonna use your dark again and your finger this time and we're gonna fill in the bits with a week with the slats have halted opens. There's the dog shining through in the back and use your finger game Just your fingertip because you've got a narrow space to put it in the when you just add a little bit of black in there, you don't get the paint on your fingertip. Could be a bit difficulty fittingly, No. If you find you're picking up some of the light blue or the white, just clean your finger between I can tell you. Okay, so once you've done that, you step back and you look at them and this would be a good time if you see anything that you're unhappy with, love, my palette knife line at the top. Wind cut across here and it shouldn't. So I'm just going to touch that up. So, needless to say, you want to clean your fingers really well. If you're going from door color to light, I just got my wife. It's one of the nice things about well painted that you can fix things my clutch can hear a C. It means across a little bit as well. So I'm going to touch it up. Nothing is across a little bit. No, it's as a rule. Just stop before you over touch things because you can land up lending when you actually want the strokes to show and you can end up creating quite a me. So just stop step back. And when you're sure, then you go and you touch up. What, you want to touch us? Okay, so now, once you're happy with your windows near sluts need fixed up your little mistakes. We can move on to the window box. 9. WindowBox 09 WindowBox: Okay, So the window box I had started to make the same color as my actual window. You could obviously change your with the box color if you want. So we just simply gonna use our finger and the same short strokes that were used for the window we're going to go across If you feel that you want your window box to be textured like your war like a what is it called, Like a plastic window box. By all means, just texture it across. That's fine. So you can use whichever stroke you like. Okay. Did you just think a little bit about the placement of your flowers? So I know my flowers are going to go rough. A few over here sort of roughly over this bit here and down here, and I won't see much off most of the same time. My box. But you do want the blue to shine through. Just get it in the ages. I think a little bit more important, because that is, you know, you're going to see and, um, you know, don't panic if you don't have all sorted out right now, you can add blue in between your flowers off to its if you decide that you want more in the box to show through. So I also put these little curves at the end of my window box because I think that helped to define it a little bit more as a window box. And so I want to keep those. So I'm going to be particular about keeping them. And this is the nice, but because you can just slap it on nice and thick again. You don't want that. You don't want to, you know, sort of create drag marks. Um, you wanted not something, but it doesn't have to be to think you get a fuel friend after. Well, I find that the light I work with my fingers, the data, um, and the very first time I tried finger painting, I was, you know, hard pushed hard and everything. You didn't quite work out well, but you learn the right touch to move your paint along nicely. Okay? So I'm not going to make my what are these little things that both the window box into the window box into the wall. I'm not gonna make them blue. I'm going to make them probably the dog color, but you can make them the same colors. Your window box. It's up to you. And you see here are formidable of my wife Paper showing through That's fine, because I'm going to cover that up with flowers anyway. Okay, so once your window boxes done, we're going to start working on our flowers. 10. WindowBox 10 Flowers: what A So your flowers. You can make any color you like after them to make mine yellow and orange because I like those colors with the blue. So I'm gonna work straight out of the truth. The flowers again. You want to make sure your fingertips mass and clean you put it on your fingertip. And if you're using a new tube of oil paint and you've got some of that original oil coming out, just clean it off, Okay? You don't want the two Shimmiri like you see, there's some extra oil on top. It's even bubbles out there so you don't want that. It will be, too to running. And even though this is not an entirely new tube of paint, it has a bit of that oil on the okay, So you definitely want one of these handy because as you go over your blue, your finger is going to pick up some of the blue and you want to keep your colors here. You don't want them to be all mixed. So for the flowers, a little piece of a little bit of paint on the ball of your finger on the tip of your finger Andi used. I started the top you on the white because it's less intimidating. And generally it's one swap once won for the flower. Don't go over unless, of course, you want if you happen to like that effect, so that's kind of the flower making. But if you want to go around, you could. It's actually up to you. I do one swipe for my flowers, different sizes that have to be different sizes. Okay. And these yellow once I'm going to put random. The yellow is my main color for the flowers that I want, so I'm going to place them randomly. So a little bit of paint flower between my finger. A little bit of paint flower between my finger. Otherwise, I'm going to start making green here. So a little bit of paint flower lobster from its a bit slippery, been attached between my finger. And so you go. You move across. You want to leave space in between the your first flower color for your second flowers and also for some greens greenery. So but we can don't of being Teoh and just decide which parts of your window box do you want to show. I went my corners to show because they provide a bit of so a context or definition. And I want my flowers to sort of come a bit down on the right hand side. So and initially, even though we will be over letting them initially, they're not overlapping, but they will just now and you'll see I haven't painted my windows. So brackets because the star paint that's really quite it's not nice. What should get mixed in with your other colors? It's quite annoying. So I'll do those just whatever shows of the told you just now, my flowers just would have come down here of it. Um, yeah, and just for a little bit of balance in your flower arrangement, I had mine sort of going up here a little bit up and down here, down on the side. They don't have to be too precise, but so it's stuff when you feel like you don't know where to put the minimum, we just stop. We need to have a bit of space for other things on here, and I just want to make a few smaller ones because they're not all going to be the same size. Obviously, when you're happy with your first flower color, and remember, you can come back and add more if you step back later and thank you one more, one color. Then, once you've done one color, we move onto the next color, which for me is going to be orange again. I'm going to look straight out of the truth of God, my kitchen towels. Only at that mind, if the yellow and orange the end of it on my fingers. But and again Now we're gonna go in between. You can make bigger ones. Yeah, spent has a different consistency to the yellow. They thank you and again, you need to leave space for your greenery. But we do want to cover up quite a lot of this when no box. And the focus is, of course, on keeping them random. No real reason why he should be an orange one here on the yellow on the it's just how they 11. WindowBox 11 Foliage: all right. So it should look roughly like this to be on the colors you've chosen and the shape of your flowers, your flowers could go any shape your life. So we're ready to move on to some of the foliar on the greenery, which is we're going to do the same thing. So if greenery and plants and things scare you, don't be worried. This is quite easy. So we're going to mix my own green. I used the you know, it's a good idea to keep continuity in your colors. So if you're a beginner at this, try to use some of the same colors you've used before. So have you Scion and my cadmium yellow, which is the yellow in this blue abuse. They enough mix them in the make Very, pretty little green Got a nice bright green. I am going to add just a teensy tiny touch off cadmium. Married to that mixture. It was a little bit too two brought to be realistic. So little tone it down, but it still makes a lovely most olive green. Okay, and then we're gonna use the same process as we did before. I just need to get some kitchen town good the same process as we did before. Put it on your finger. Andi, you start feeling in your spaces. So what you want you is. You also want at least two different greens because we're not mixing any other colors. Really? On our picture, you want at least two different creams, and if they touch the flowers, that's perfectly fine. You just now we want to really start filling in and covering up most of this window box. And what I also do for my greens is I now doing quite a like a Phillies bold stroke just now when I changed my different green, um, which I'm gonna do now you've got a doctor Makes its the same, um, mixtures I had just now the blue and the raid on the blue and the green have added more aid . So it's a darker green, and I'm going to use smaller strokes that these would be smaller leaves. You just want a bit of riotously samore like it'll tests right in between the and they will touch the other colors, and that's fine. So this part of the painting can be It's not. Not particularly difficult. It's just time consuming to get in the way you wanted. So just carry on adding your green leaves until and again state back and carry on until you're happy with it. Okay, so we've done with your greens. It's important to stay back and have a look and see. What does your picture need more off? Doesn't want more greens darker green or the lighter green doesn't want more of the bright flowers. It's entirely up to you. What? You know how you want to window box to look so mine. I don't want so much of the blue window box to show through on this side. I remind that I'm going to add a little bit more on this side, and I think I'll add a bit more greenery on that side. So just carry on playing with your colors and with your flower box, and when you're happy with it, you know me to the next section to finish up 12. WindowBox 12 Shadows: Okay, so now your picture should be looking something like this building on your colors and how many flowers you wanted and sort of how you arranged your pictures. But essentially, you're Wallace down your windows, done your flowers in your cardiologist on. If you feel you want to add a bit more greenery, you can always come back to it. Tomorrow, 25 slip away. You can always come back to it and adjust and add a bit more of listen a bit more than that . So that is what will paint. It's so lovely for now to finish up because our sunshine is coming from the top, right? You want to have a little bit of shadows on the left ear. And before we do that, I'm still use my door color and my finger. And if you want to make the little bracket holding up your window so the dog color you can or you can make the same color as your windows, it really doesn't matter. I'm gonna make it this dark color. I was in there. I've covered up other bracket with flowers so you can only see one of these now. Nothing on your finger. Um, and I might go in maybe tomorrow when the paint has dried a little bit and either add little hints off the other bracket in between. Yeah, it would be. It's been two weeks now. I don't want to mix the colors so I might add it in the Otherwise I'll just add flowers over there because these that spot So now what? I decided the easiest way to do the shadows, especially because this close he's ended. Including, you know, beginners, beginners the easiest, for it would be just to use the same color your view. So if you've used black carry on using black, if you mixture and black like I have carry on using that. So I used my palette knife again from the age just like that, and we're gonna do this, doctor that that we did before. So add a bit more off this because our son's coming from the top right? The shadows are going to be sort of on the left hand side of our picture, and you just add a little bit more of this on that each line you've done before, okay, and then you take you finger tip you can kind of You're gonna grab that time to pick up with your fingertip and dr dot and spread it out to on the wall a little bit. So be careful that you don't go back over the windows. So because then you're gonna get the dog paint on your on your window. They say, just touch it once and then doctor, that that likely And the paint will get lighter, lighter. So just make sure that you don't know fingerprint sound, and it's not an even straight line coming down. It's just sort of the. And when you get to the flowers, just be a little bit careful that you don't pick up some of the color on your finger and start up. They have done executive told you not to do. Yeah, so clean your finger. Any few do that, it's fine on your finger on just dab dab dab. I'm gonna pick up a little bit there, just that of any so kind of Okay, I'm going between their little bits and it's not only the windows, so I don't like that straight line coming down these. I'm gonna spread that out to prove it. It's not only the window and the window box that's gonna cost a shadow, but even your flowers will have little shadows underneath. So they were There's a bit of space is we're gonna have in the store color as well. So, then and the reason why I put it with a palette knife first because, um, you really need such a little bit if you picked it up with your finger, you probably get far too much. So you just put it wherever you can. So I'm gonna put in a moment at the age of my box. Yeah, they would be some shadow. They would differently be some shadow underneath yah like that. Okay, okay, this can be a little bit fidgety. I think I have forward too much money. And when you have too much, not just accidentally put too much hope. You can see that you take your palette knife and you just simply take some off. Because if you start mixing that in, you're gonna get very dark. So and again, you just take the tip of your finger and you start, you pick it up and then you just have that. So I kind of pick it up with a month. Mineo. Almost because it's so narrow. And then I used the top of my finger to death kind of black. You would have a shadow under knees. Just read it out a little bit. You can start getting into the shadows. And if you find your they have touched the orange. But now looks that flowers. So that's fine. If your finger is might give it a bit too big for little spaces. Usual pinky finger and get in there. So we're gonna do it on the left hand side. We're gonna do it at the bottom of the box because you would have shadow at the bottom is well, and if you don't have a pen, it's nice handy. Then I would suggest that you take just Penis a little bit of the paint off your palate or out of your to believe using, but really just on on your nail. If you concede that really just on your nails and that that Devon and again actually, don't panic, because if you put it too much, you can do a little bit off the wall over, just like we did with the ground So, um, you can't really get a two for Rome as long as you're willing to sort of fix it a little bit. Yeah, I know, but they and I think that's why I think the painting is so great for, especially for beginners, because you can you can fix things. So now that I've done a little bit of shadow Day, I'm going to start putting in a little bit of shadow for the leaves. So it's essentially the same process as we did with the news. We just gonna put it on the bottom, left 10 side and not sort of on toughly so and drop it underneath things. And if you pick up too much frank between your finger, just that they're more and doesn't have to be everywhere. Just here remain. And also, to get it in between other leaves is quite important, because when you look at any only always, Bush in nature is always a bit of shadows in between and leaves. And he just wanted to, um I suggest that you don't need to No, this is not realism. So I don't get to court apartment even just a little bit like that. is fine. If you really wanted to be particular about it, you could make some of these shows darker, some lighter. It doesn't matter. Okay, Just keep it on the bottom. Left for a bit of continuity. Yeah, and these are the shape of your leaves because it's the leaves costing the shutters. It's enough that a few times that are cleaning my finger, which is fine, because you get a bit of a variety in the black in the shadow cover, you know? So I would even it that I wouldn't go too much DACA and again step back from your picture and see fit to your liking. All right, So when I stepped back from a picture, See, I don't really like the shape off the shadow. I want to get a little bit more in there, so I'm just gonna pick up a little bit on my finger and just to include gently, come in between the You could always come back the next day sort of fresh eyes and just touch up a little bit and remember, doesn't have to be perfection. It has to be something that's pleasing to your eye. Okay? And I went to a little bit of this dog in they. So I'm going to just very for me. And I'm going to clean my finger and in there maybe a little bit, Just like that's a really a bit better. Okay, so just as a touch up, I just want to add with more at the bottom. Yeah, So you're ages are quite important because they give you a picture definition. And so just adding that tiny little bit of blue days off black, actually, I think makes a difference. And if I can get the tip of my pendant knife just in between these flowers to near the edge of the box would be here. I think that would be useful. And if you really can't like, I really conquered in the uniquely I'm going to add another flower on top. They some don't have to see it just to me. Your cooks a bit funny seeing a day, and it doesn't have a pH. So I'll just add another flower. So step back from your painting, look at it and make these tiny little changes where you think it's necessary. And don't be afraid to go layer over layer of a 1,000,000. So once you've done that oh, me to Becca 13. WindowBox 13 FinishingTouches: Okay, So after I step back and look at it, I decided that I didn't want any more yellow orange flowers, and I added a few little dollars off cadmium read. But I wanted it to be less than anything else because it's not the main flower. So what? I just wanted to show you here. Waas. I added a tiny read flower. They and there's no green foliage around. It kind of looks like a red dot in the middle of nowhere. He has an orange one, but it has cream. So you're your leaves don't have to line up with your flowers and they don't have to have stems because we're just hinting at the whole mess. But to have a little read duct like that, sitting out in space by itself is a bit strange. So I'm just gonna just wanted to show you that before I added the green, I will take any one of my greens that have left over here and just put a doctor close to it at least So it's not so lonely out there by itself. This one also doctor. So I just wanted to show you that so that you don't have little flowers protein away by themselves. And then the other thing I wanted to show you waas again when I step back and look at it, I realized that this inch here was a little bit kind of straight, and I didn't like that. It must be flowing, so I had a ticket to read flowers in there. But I'm also going to add just a We just don't want that straight line that's there. So I'm going to add a little yellow flowers, step back and see if it age has been taken away. And it has so and I think sometimes, if you can't decide, does it need a bit more than rather don't put because you can come back and added later, And yes, you can scrape it off. But then you have to fix up a lot of other things. So I don't know if this flower needs space right now, so I'm going to not put that flower, and I can always add it in later. But essentially, that's it. I'm quite happy with the end result. It's It's a happy flower picture, and if you're a beginner, I'm confident that you would have managed this.
