About This Class

Thank you for joining this class!

It was a pleasure of mine to create this watercolors class, where you will learn a lot of interesting information.

First thing you will learn is how to create the composition, by defining the horisontal line. In this class you won't need pencil neither eraser as you will define the horisontal line with a washi tape.

Once decided how much space you will leave for the clouds and for the field, you will start to paint clouds. You will learn two main techniques in watercolors: wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry. With wet-on-wet technique you will paint the base for the sky, and then with a tissue or kitchen towel, will create the form for the clouds, by erasing some of the color. The clouds have also highlight and shadow, next step will be to work with wet-on-dry technique and visually to identify where there is the shadow. The clouds when are closer to our eyes, are bigger, and with more defined shadow, instead the clouds that are going to the horizontal line are thinner, smaller, and clearer in color.

After finishing with clouds and sky, it is the moment to work with the field of poppies. Same as for the clouds, the base color will be painted with wet-on-wet technique, but the details with wet-on-dry. As a first step, I will explain more about aerial perspective, and what for it helps us in landscapes. I will also explain you how to make use of colors and work with those.

I will show you how cadmium colors, are more opaque that other watercolors, and how those help us throughout the work.

You will end this work by adjusting details on poppies flowers and bringing the frontal line closer to the viewer eyes.

Once you are done you will have a beautiful work for your home.

Please, do not forget to share your results with me. I am keen to see those all.

1. Introduction to field of poppies: Hi friends. I'm, I'm a schedule straighter and watercolor is on today's class. I wanted to share how to paint field of poppies in watercolors. In this class, you will learn how to beautifully create sky with a lot of clouds. And how to create different transition from several types of blues and somewhere, or violet colors as well. On the bulb is field. I will explain you a little bit about the aerial perspective, how to create lights and the cooler colors in the back. And to bring more warmer colors and darker colors into the front to create this difference in perspective. And part of this, this whole class is based on working with two main techniques into watercolors. Like it is a wet on wet and wet on dry, wet on wet to ever work. The blue sky. And as well, they filled the background for the field of poppies. Then with the wet and dry technique, what I will show you how to work on the clouds and to create shadows in the clouds and to create this form of volume as well. With a wet on dry. I will show you how to work on specific details already on the poppies and how to bring, hold this work into front of us and to create an interesting field of poppies. So let's get started. 2. Supplies needed for the class: The supplies that I will use for today's class on watercolor paper that has 300 GSM. On this paper, I will paint a beautiful puppies field. Then I will use my Skype liter, 36 pence watercolors, that it is called white lines. Then I will use my poor little bins paint brush number six as well. I will use my fleets for watering the paper because we will leave work wet on wet and wet on dry technique. For smaller details, I will use the vein chipping brush synthetics number four, I just voted. So this will be my first time I will use it. We also need some plain water. We want to draw anything previously to start because this work will be super easy one, and it is more about working with watercolors. But I will use this kind of washi tape to represent where it is the horizontal line to create a straight line. And we will meet some tissues to create the sky and clouds as well because we are working with wet on wet and wet on dry technique, we will need a hair dryer. So these are the supplies that we need for today's class. 3. Painting clouds how to create depth: I started with my washi tape and I will present the horizontal line. I decided to have it two-thirds. So I will split visually more or less in three more. This here will be this guy here up to the top. And here below will be my field of both. So here we have the same, more or less. Just good. I'm avoiding this. I'm wetting the paper really well. If you have watched my previous videos, you've probably know that this technique requires more water specifically now in summertime when the paper dries faster than usual during the other times, like springtime or autumn time. And I will take some blues colors to represent the sky. I will use bright blue color. But I think right below, I just moved my bleed and I will have I will take all. So cobalt blue does important that strike on the work. We take more and supply more color on the paper because if not the big for once it dries, it becomes a little bit lighter. As far as you see? I yeah. I'm moving coordinate of one. Whenever it is darker, the color. I'm taking as well, more blue, bright blue color, densify wherever it is needed. And I take a tissue to add some more colors, but lighter ones here. Because as further we go, the clouds are white and they don't have a specific form. Usually those are seemed like light lines. So we have to see these kinds of effects as well. Now what I do, I take a tissue, I'm getting some white spaces here. My first layer was blue, bright blue. Because I knew that to the clouds already have some color. And I didn't want to have only white paper on it. But now, because I already has been more or less the clouds, I'm taking care of my whitespaces. And I also will add some violet colors on the clouds. And we'll differentiate the different rows from the sky. And the boards that we have on the paper. On this guy. Big clot. Now we take less water and I will add even more blue right here. Once I click that, it is expected to take some cobalt blue color. I will remove some excess of water. And I add here. Now the paper is getting dry and it is quite easier to work with this guy. I'm done. So now let's work on the clouds. For the clouds, I will take my paintbrush number for synthetics that lynching. And I will take some ultramarine color with some ruby color to create a beautiful violet color. Because the color is not as intense on the Cloud. I will add more water. As far as you see, my paper is drying fast. It can be that your paper is not growing as fast as mine. So pay attention to it. And if you think that you need to try it as fast as mine, it can take whenever you want a hair dryer. And I add some shadows here because I already had some book covers. This ultramarine color has changed quite a bit. And I will take sampling what, to remove these, that the transition to be smooth. The same. I will have some violet colors here. Very beautiful colors. And to pay attention that I'm taking more plain water to remove the edges. If the paper would be wet, it will be quite easier. Because these edges wanted beer or watercolors would run smoothly here and reach here on the end. Here we have some more. Because my paint brushes, I will remove slightly the intensity of the color of these. Because I wanted to create your week. Here I have more white. So it does really important that we don't damage the paper. We apply grain of water to it. It would take W2 with tissue, a kitchen towel, whatever you feel comfortable. The more water to my mixture. To have slightly more light that goodness. Here's how I will remove the intensity. Then we have here some cooler colors, so I will take more to my mixture as well. It has to be light. And because of the aerial perspective, we need to take care of moving clouds that are farther from our price. So now I'll take my share and dry this work. Hi, I'm Scott. Ready. 4. Field of poppies basics of aerial perspective: Now this guy is trying to remove my washi tape. You can see that we have a straight line for the horizontal. And start to work on the four P's field. To create a beautiful, purpose-built. We also will work with wet-on-wet technique. And I'm going to go not to go out of this horizontal line. I wet this side of the work. And I will have one color here, full color of the background. And the background will be some with some warm colors, like call it green. But because here we have a material perspective. I will take some cooler yellow, cadmium lemon to have lighter color. And I will mix it with green color. Here. I'm taking more olive green to make it warmer here, darker as well. I'm adding some green colors. More. I come here in front of our eyes. I'm making the background darker, darker, warmer. I will also have some beautiful green juice here. You won't use the color. I'm not afraid of taking more color under this because now we are working with once I have defined a big color of the background, now, I'm more than happy to get some purchase. I will use some really bright red, cadmium red, or should we call it, I would take ruby color first and then I will get more intensity with cadmium red light. And I can add some. I'm taking my finger and with my paint brush full of color. I create watching effect in the background. Because the flowers are further from our lines. We will see like small dots. We want see like clear and defined flowers. And we need to create the feeling of lots of office in the background. I will take all. So my bigger paintbrush here, I already have scratching effects with bigger dots, creating the effect of bigger flowers in front of us. Here. Already. Color. I will use cadmium red color for this part, for this side of the paper. Because cadmium red is more opaque watercolors. And it will be clearly seen. Over here. Cadmium red is making the other colors that stayed on the paper to run all over N2 that we have this beautiful color on the paper. I'm taking my thin brush, removing some color, hitting this beautiful touches. Apart from the flowers and red boxes, we have some flowers. Now after finishing with my red and blue color retention that I'm doing it while the paper is still wet. I will deal with a blue flowers. Because when the paper will be tried, as adults want to go one trunk and it will be like stripes, dots. I think that I will take for this flower some cobalt blue colors. Do. The paper is tried and it is quiet. More difficult to do this for my quiz. I will try and quite difficult. So I'm going like this. What I will do, I will take my smaller paintbrush and I will add white color in the balloon to make it more or back. To represent some lighter color. You see how cool it looks now. This blue color becomes opaque color. With this white. Greed is when the paper is dry it, you see that with the synthetic speech is clearly much better to work with. I draw here. Okay? So now it is a moment that I want to draw my work with the hair dryer. The paper has dried and it became like what we were saying previously. What I will do now, I will take some red colored and white color to create some shadows wherever it is needed. Flowers, I will do the same. I will add some more blue flowers. Now, I will create some shadows. For this, I will use some colors like C or better. I will use some Ruby. Ruby and say, I will take here the darker part. I will need to make it even cooler. So I will take some Payne's gray color. 5. Last details how to bring first plan to the viewer: Hence for blue flowers, I will take some brains, sorry, Things critical. Now, I will need to create some stems. And I will take some different green colors. First, I will take some of this green color to create. Here some vibes of greenery. Took some white. We already applied some olive green color here. But now take a moment to intensify more with green colors. So it's not on the line, but also some darker ones. That I will take some rules like ink, color for the shadows. I will take some sick. Yeah. We have some promise. Very important that this wise for the greenery, you have to make with synthetic scheme version. The synthetics paintbrush is harder and these lines are stronger. When we are working with the literal here, paintbrush, then the lines will be smooth leader. For this reason, I do not advise to work with neutral here, but if you don't have anything else. The only thing we can do is just to remove very well the access of the color of the water and take more color, wonderful English. And then the effect will be clearly seen. Because here we see it in the front. We have to make these flowers even brighter. Now. Meanwhile, it is still all ready to try it. I will take some cadmium red color and dwelt intensify. Make it brighter. Specifically on the flowers that we have here. Your flowers here in front happened to be really bright. Notice mine. Then you don't have to do it. But to watch what you have to add to your work. Sometimes the work can be slightly different and it is important that you see what you have to change your work. It can be slightly different to mine. For the room. Lost my kids to sign. I take some Payne's gray, I remove the excess of water that they sound. 6. Last thoughts: Dear friends, if you liked this video, please don't forget to commend it.
