2. Unit 1 : Ways to ask how someone is : Hello guys. In this lesson, we will learn ten different ways to
ask how someone is. These phrases might be formal or informal depending
on your own situation. So guys, we must be very
careful when you're using them. So are you ready? Let's dive in. Okay, My dear friends,
let's start with the first phrase and
that's how do you do? Yes, how do too? How do you do is defined
as a polite greeting that you can use when first
introduced to someone. An example of how do you
do is what you would say as you shake hands with someone you meet
for the first time. So guys, this is
a formal phrase. This grating is used on
first meeting somebody. Alternatives are pleased to
meet you or nice to meet you. Therefore, more response is
to repeat the same phrase. Now let's start with
the phrase on question, how's it going, which is most popular way
to greet people. How's it going? This phrase, How's it going
is another way to say how are you or how are things
progressing or what's up. Actually here, it can
refer to life in general, a project or your day. It should be noted that this expression
and EDM is said in many countries with the answer expected to be fine or good. In MRR can English, it's another way to
say hello or hi. It's very informal, but it's
not as serious question. You wouldn't be expected
to answer with anything other than good or great. Another way to great
people is how are you doing or how you doing? This is a short form. How you doing? Yes. How you doing?
How are you doing? This is a little more
casual and friendly then how are you
mostly use in America? And this is used with people who are familiar to the speaker. Imagine, I meet Jack, a friend of mine on the street. So I would tell him, I would say, Hey Jack,
how are you doing? How are things? Yes, how are things? This is another informal
way for saying how are you. We can also say how
are things with you, or how are things going, or how is everything. This is used for asking someone about their progress or
their general situation. How are things? How are things with you? Lying time? No, see, this is a friendly
way said when you meet someone who you haven't seen
for a long period of time. So we could start our
greeting like this. Hey Jack, lying time, no, see, this is my favorite phrase and I use it in my everyday life. So guys, this is an
informal way to say that it is a lying time
since we last minutes. In other way to great people
is how have you been? Yes. How have you been? This is similar to how
are you but how have you been is used when you haven't seen some on for a longer time, like several months or longer? How have you been? It's a common question from
native English speakers. It's asking how you
have been up to and how life has been for you from
a certain point in time. Perhaps you have been asked how you have been doing
since the last time you cite each other or maybe since the last time you
spoke on the phone, How have you been how have you been how are you keeping how are you keeping
heavy heard before? Describing is not very common, but it is also used to ask
if someone feels good, bad, happy, or well. For example, how are
you keeping the jail? And this is mostly used
by British speakers. Sometimes people say,
are you keeping well, this just means, are you well, or how are you? Are you keeping well
is a strange question, but if someone asks you that, you can reply just like, I'm fine things and you
What's up? What's up? This is the most popular
way to greet people, right? What's up? What's up
means what's happening. Usually people just
reply nothing. I guess probably 99 percent
of people answer like that. Or they would just say, not much, not much. And guys, the informal way
to say what's up is SAP. Sap or was up? Was up, for example, subdued. Was up, dude. What's new? Yes. What's nu? Also we can say what's going on. American English
people use this as a friendly greeting
to mean, How are you? Yes. How are you? What's due, Jack? What have you been up to lately? Yes. What have you been up to lately? Well, it means I haven't
seen you for a long time. So tell me what have
you been doing? This grating is informal, so this is an informal phrase. What have we been up to? Literally, it means what activities have you
participated in recently? And reply might be, I have started editing a book at work or I have moved
to a new apartment. So guys, it means
I have not seen you in some time and
I'm curious about your life since I met you last and could be
answered the same way.
3. Phrases in movies: Let's review these phrases in different short movie scenes. See how these phrases
are pronounced by native English speakers. How do you do? How do you do? How do you do? How do you do? How did it go And how has the program? Hey, there. Hey
guys, how are you? How are you doing? Terrific. Hey, how are things at home? Health is between
her and Allan Poe? Things going long time, no. See Long time, no. See. How have you been? Fine? I don't know everything. I can't believe this. Have you How are you
giving your cavemen? Are you keeping? I'm very well. Thank you. How are you giving yourself? So what's happened in men? I think. Yeah. Why do you went up to you? Borrowed it.
4. Learn Phrases in conversation : Okay, My dear friends, let's see how these phrases are used in different
English conversations. So let's understand them
in different contexts. So here there is a
conversation between two friends who haven't seen
each other for a long time. They meet on the street and
this is informal situation. Hey, Jack, How have you been? Hey, sorry. I've been okay. I wasn't going great. I just missed you. What have you been up to lately? I have just started working
at marketing company. Wow. Oh, great. Good luck with that. Conversation number
2, this conversation is between the doctor
and Mr. Jackson. They meet for the first time, and this is a formal situation. So Mr. Jackson stars this
conversation and says, Good morning, Dr. How do you do? Doctor says, Good
morning, Mr. Jackson. It's a pleasure to meet you. You are on time. So this was a formal, actually greeting and situation. And I guess they meet each
other for the first time, right here, Dan and Alex meet each other at school and start
greeting informally. Hey Dan, how are
things with you? That says, Hey
Jack, things Great. What's up, man? Nothing much. I just finished
reading and nice book. Oh, nice. What's this book about? So this was a very
friendly and casual, actually conversation
between Dan and Alex. Here. Jack was sick
for a few days. Alex and Jack meet after two
months at the university. So hey Jack, long time. No. See how are you
keeping how are you keeping Jackson? Hi, Alex. Grades. I just started
feeling great again. How have you been
how have they been? Good? I haven't started
editing a new movie. Okay, My dear friends,
as you can see, we use these phrases,
different conversations. And you must know how and
where to use these phrases.
5. Check your Listening: In this lesson, we learned ten ways to ask how someone is. So it's time to check
your listening. So guys, listen to what I say. Pause the video, write
down what you hear. Play again as C That
takes on the screen. And finally, check your answers. On to Jackson from Canada. How do you do a man onto
Jackson from Canada? How do you do? Hey,
how's it going, bro? No bad dude. Am a senior for ages. Hey, how's it going, bro? Now? Bad dude. I am a senior for ages. Are you doing man, lying time? No. See, you must be
very busy lately. Hey, how are you doing, man? Lying time? No, see, you must be
very busy lately. Our things do look fresh. About the same as usual. Our things look fresh. About the same as usual. A dead long time, no. See however, when did you
forget your old best friend? A dead Long time. No. See how have you been Did you forget
your old best friend? How's your mother keeping? Is you getting better
as your mother keeping? Is you getting better? A grid at hand with
a casual dress up? A grid of a hand with
a casual less up.
6. check your knowledge : So guys, Are you're ready to check your understanding here. As you know, we learned
ten different ways to ask how someone is. Here. You need to tell me
which phrase we must use depending on
different situations. Remember, you have five
seconds to answer. So let's get started. Imagine you meet your
close friend at school. How do you greet him? So this is a casual wall,
any formal situation? So what do you say? That's right. We could say, hey, how's it going? How are things with you? How are you doing? What's up, man? You haven't seen your
friend for four months. You meet him on
the street subtly. So how do you greet him? What do you say? That's right. We usually say hijack lifetime
no C. Or you could say, how have you been Jack? How have you been? Imagine you are in the
office and then you meet one new colleague that
you haven't met before. So how do you greet him? Keep in mind that this
is a formal situation. That's why we usually say hello. How do you do? Well,
probably you could say, hi, pleased to meet you. Nice to meet you. Imagine your friend is sick, then later you meet
him three days later. How do you ask if he is? Well, this is mostly
used by British people. Yes, this phrase. So what do you say? So we usually say, Hi, how are you keeping? How are you keeping? Guys? What is the
phrase mostly use in America to say how someone is? And it's a little more casual and friendly
then how are you? What is it? That's how are you
doing or how you doing? How are you doing?
Or we could say, what's new? What's new? What's new man? You haven't
met someone for a long time, so you want to know what
have they been doing? So what question
you can use here? That's why we usually say, What have you been up to lately? What have you been up to lately?
7. Unit 2 : Ways to Answer to How You are : As you know guys in this lesson, we're going to teach
you ten different ways to say how you are. Yes, how you are. Are you ready? Let's
understand these phrases. Okay, let's start
with the easier one, with the very common one. And that's fine. Thinks we can use this response when someone
asks us, how are you? Which is very simple answer
and the most common one. And other standard and
simpler apply is very well. Thank you or fine. Thank you. Pretty good? Yes. Pretty
good. Pretty good. Pretty good is a very friendly
and casual way to answer. This is used as a reply
to the questions like, How are you doing
and how's it going? It basically just
means mostly good or fairly good or somewhat good. So my dear friends pretty good. It means not the greatest, but okay, pretty good. This is another
common way to answer to how are you doing
and how's it going. And keep in mind that it's very friendly and casual world. Another way to
answer is not bad. Not bad means average age, It's not bad, but it
might not be good either. It might be in the middle. Not bad. Also, we do
say Not so bad or so, so or not half bad. For example, how do
you feel this morning? Not bad. Thanks. So not bad means fairly
good or average. So my dear friends, it is common in English to
use this type of answer where a direct answer
might seem too assertive. Great, yes, great. So guys, if you feel your best and you feel like you
are in a good mood, you can always use this reply, which means you are
very, very, very good. You could also say, perfect, wonderful, fabulous. Yes, fabulous. For example, how are you doing, Jack today? Great, fabulous. We could also say not so great, which means you don't feel
good or well, not so great. Another common way to answer
raise couldn't be better. Yes, couldn't be better. This is an informal way to
say everything is fine. It means things are perfect, exactly as desired or
better than expected. My dear friends, this is
used for emphasizing that someone or something
is extremely good. Nice, et cetera. For example, how are you, Jack? Oh, couldn't be better. My job is great and I
just bought a house. So it means that
something or someone is so good that it cannot
get any better. It's the best. Can't complain. That's my favorite phrase. Can't complain. This is used as a response, meaning fairly good or well. Two questions such as how
are you or how is business? For example. How have you been? Can't complain. This term means that
nothing serious is wrong. Yes. Nothing serious is wrong. I can't complain. And guys, I usually
myself personally use this response in my everyday
life communication. Can't complain. I have been busy
or I've been busy. So there is a difference
between I was busy and I've been busy. So I've been busy implies
that the period of business extends through their recent
past up to the present time. But when we say I was busy, this is referring to
the past period of business which may have ended. So Arvin BZ, this is a great
response for questions like, How have you been or what
have you been up to lately? So my dear friends And remember
when I say I was busy, the speaker is no
longer BZ at all. But when I say I have been busy, the speaker is still BZ or was so busy until very recently. And other great responses, same as always, yes,
same as always. We also say same as
usual, same as usual. Which means there is
nothing new and nothing new has happened and
everything is almost the same. So there is no spatial
nose or spatial happening. Okay. Same as always, same as usual. So, so yes. So, so guys, sometimes you want to say
that things are just okay. But again, it can sound a
little boring or imaginative. So let's look at some other responses
we can use instead of. So, so, so my dear friends, we could also say, I'm okay. Not too bad. Same old, same knew. Yeah. All right. So we can use these
alternatives instead of so. So could be better, Could be better,
could be better, which means things
could be better. The situation could be improved. Things are not great. This is an unhappy
or responds to a question about
one's well-being, such as how are you? So this is a response
to a greeting, meaning my state is not as
good as it might be. Yes. Could be better. Could be better.
8. Phrases in films : Let's review these braces in different short movie scenes. See how these phrases
are pronounced by native English speakers. I'm fine. I'm fine. I just have to go the long way. Yeah. I'm fine. I'm fine. Pretty good. You know, it's organised
and so it's pretty good. Pretty good at it. We're
actually pretty good. Thanks. I was on that one. Lots of luck. So bad at all. How are you? How are you? Great Britain the better? Our couldn't be better. Couldn't be better, right? Yeah. Couldn't be bad. For kids. Are some company doing well? I can't complain. I was alive vape
business, any blame? Can I see what a silent
cool. I've been busy. The telephone lines
are brought up yet and I've been busy on
my cell phone and all told the issue that bad. So as always, hi, we're the same as how is
the same as always, you. Gamma rays, pollution,
same old, same old, same old, same old, same old. Things could be better. Lloyd. Anything good
could be better. You can leave anything
you've taught me. I better be better
for me. Well, people.
9. Phrases in conversation: Okay, My dear friends, let's see how these phrases are used in different
English conversations. So let's understand them
in different contexts. So here, John and sorrow me to the park and they start
a friendly conversation. So actually here, sorry, stars this
conversation and says, Hey John, how is it going? What brings you here? Fine, couldn't be better. I am just very happy
to see you here. What's up? Services? Not so array. I just failed my exam
and I'm very sad today. Of course are on Oh, sorry to hear that. You need to study harder. Absolutely. She
must study harder. Okay. Here, Dan and Jack meet at the office in
the morning. Okay. Hey, Jack. How are things with you? Anything new? Jack says, nope, same as usual. My fees sometimes
very repetitive. That's right. But you can always find
a way to change it. So I guess Jack is not
happy with his life. It's repetitive. Here. There's a conversation
between Dan or Robin. So Daniel Robbin meet on the street and they start
creating each other. So dances, hey,
what's I'm Robin? Yale, look great today. Well, nothing much. How's it going down? Can't complain. Things are okay. I
just feel hungry now. Let's go eat something. Let's go eat something. So here Ted and Alex
meet after a long time so they want to know more about what they have been doing. That starts the conversation. I'm surprised to see you
here after a long time. What have you been up to lately? So Alex's 0, ted of been busy. Ben, be really busy but really
happy to finally see you. Sorrow broke her leg, but now she feels great. She meets with her uncle
later the next week. Hazara, how do you

well these days. Our things go bank. I can't complain. Things are going
well these days. I was there no business going
tat Is everything okay? Well, same as usual. Nothing has changed. I was there no business going
tat Is everything okay? Well, same as usual.

11. check Understanding : So we learned ten
different ways to answer to how you are right? Now, I'm gonna give
you five seconds. I'm going to check
your understanding. So guys tried to think and
tell me in such situation which phrase we can use. Okay? You meet your
classmates at work. He asks you in a
very friendly way, how are you doing? And how do you answer back? What are the friendly and casual all the replies for this? Think for five seconds. So you could say, pretty good grades or fabulous
if you feel your best. You could also say,
couldn't be better. Or you could simply just say, fine, I'm fine. Thank you. Can can plane is also a
good way to reply here. Your colleague is asking you
about your business and job. You want to say that
nothing serious is happening and things
are all the same. So what do you say? That's why we
usually say same as usual or same as always. Or you could probably say so. So not so bad. Not so bad. You just
came back from work. You don't feel
very well or okay. Your mother asks you, How are you today? What would you say? That's why we usually say not so great or could feel better. Could be better, or
could feel better. You meet your friend
after a few months. He asks you about your
business and work. He asks, How have you been? You want to say that
you had a busy life? What would you say? What phrase we can use here? That's why we usually
say, I've been busy. So it means you were busy
and it continued till now. Been busy. You just bought a new car
and you feel your best. So later your uncle
calls you and asks, How are you doing today? So what is the best reply here? What could you say? That's right. We could say couldn't be better. Could N'T be better,
which means you feel your best and everything
is great today. Couldn't be better.

you are doing great. In this video, we're going

them all in this video. So guys, stay tuned. Let's start with thinks. Yes. Thanks. Thanks. Is defined as a short-term way of
saying thank you. Which is defined as
what someone says when they appreciate something
someone has done for them. Guys, this is used to
tell someone that you are grateful for something they have given you or done for you. This is used as a polite way of accepting something that
someone has offers you. For example, do you want
another cup of coffee? Oh, Thanks. I remember guys. Banks is more friendly then. Thank you. Thanks. The next comma phrase, guys is things a lot? Yes, thanks a lot. To thank someone deeply. We usually use phrases
like, thanks a lot. Thank you very much. I deeply appreciate it. I'm extremely grateful. My dear friends keep in mind
that in informal language, especially on the Internet
and in text messages, we sometimes write t, k, s TEKS rather than things TEKS. We also say things a bond which is used when
you are really annoyed about something and you don't mean think hue at all. For example, I forgot
to bring your money. Well, thanks a lot
or thanks a bunch. Thank you so much. Yes, thank you so much. Another way to think someone
is thank you so much, which also means I'm
extremely grateful. Guys. This phrase is
expressing a lot of gratitude to someone
for something. Thank you so much. For example, Thank you so much for your great performance. We could also say things
at TA1 or things a bunch. Thanks a ton. Or thanks a bunch. Thanks a million. Use this font of rays
with folks and people that you have a close
relationship with, probably not your boss. Other phrases we could use
with close friends are, thanks, uh, Tom and
thanks a bunch. Thanks for your help or
things for helping me. We usually say things
for something. Yes. Thank for something. Like thanks for your gift. Thank you so much
for this invitation, etc. things for something. I really appreciate it. I really appreciate it. This is another formal
way to thank someone. For example, I truly
appreciate your hard work. Actually, this is polite and formal way people use
to thank someone. I truly appreciate. For example, I truly appreciate all your
time spent on this. Your energy and passion
for the launch. I truly appreciate your
invaluable guidance on my thesis. I'm really grateful, That's
another great phrase. I'm really grateful. We could also say,
I'm really thankful, which means actually warmly or deeply appreciative of
kindness or benefits received. I'm grateful to
you for your help. This commonly used
in my family when we want to formally and
wrongly think somebody. I'm really grateful or I am grateful to
you for your help. That's so kind of you. That's so kind of you. When saying it is kind of you, you are saying that
what someone has done or said was very
appreciated or welcomed. And it is usual, usually a formal phrase. Guys, we usually use
verbs after this phrase. Let me give you some examples. It's very kind of you
to offer me the job. It's very kind of
you to listen to me. It's very kind of
you to join me. It's very kind of
you to invite us. It's very kind of you to
inform us what happened. I can't. Thank you enough. This phrase is usually used for extremely important things. Like imagine if
someone has helped you and lended use some
money to buy a house. So you are very thankful
and very grateful. This is said when one
is very appreciative of another's words or actions. And this is a polite
phrase for gratitude. I owe you one, I owe you one. When someone has done
something for you and you'd be happy to return
the favor one day. This is used in formally. I owe you one. So guys, it means thank you. Now, I owe you a favor. I owe you something
similar in return.

him deeply and worldly. What would you say? Think for five seconds. We could say, I'm really thankful for I really

someone and they thank you. You can say glad to

native speakers use different phrases to say
that they are sorry. So in this video, we're going to introduce these
useful, important phrases. So guys, let's dive in. Let's start with a simple
phrase and that's, I'm sorry that for example, I'm sorry that I was
so rude yesterday. So this is a very simple way to apologize to someone, right? We usually use this like, I'm sorry that I I'm sorry that I this is
the right structure. For example, I'm sorry that
I was rude yesterday or I'm sorry that I called you in the middle of the night, etc. I'm sorry, is also used
to express sympathy, for example, I'm
sorry for your loss. Yes, we also use this
phrase to express sympathy. Then x comma phrase
is, it's my fault. It's my fault, which
means I'm taking responsibility for the problem. You could also say, my fault, yes, my fault. So guys, a fault is an
error caused by ignorance, bad judgment, or
probably in attention. So guys, if you
say it's my fault, you accept the blame. Well, they can't fault you
for telling the truth. At least. I know, for example, I know I broke the window. It's my fault. So I'm taking the responsibility
here and apologizing. Oops, sorry, oops, sorry. For a very small
problems and mistake. We can use this
phrase and words. So my dear friends, this is an informal phrase used to show a recognition of a mistake
or minor accident, often as part of an apology. Oops, sorry. For example, oops, I'm sorry, I just made you miss your boss. You say, Oops, to indicate that there hasn't been a slight
accident or mistake, or to apologize to
someone for it. Oops, I'm sorry. And guys, when you accidentally bump
into someone on the street, you can say, oops,
sorry about that. Oops, sorry about that. I should have, which is
followed by past participle. I should have. We use actually should have past participle to talk
about past mistakes. We usually this, we usually
use this phrase when we feel regretful for something. I should have, for example, I should have called
you, I'm so sorry. Or we could say, I shouldn't have been so late. I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have been solely leads or I should have
sent you a message. I forgot all about it. I'm so sorry. My dear friends shouldn't
have past participle. We also use shouldn't
have past participle. Actually, it means that
something wasn't a good idea, but you did it anyway. For example, I shouldn't
have studied harder. I shouldn't have studied harder. I apologize for I apologize for. So this is a good and
polite and formal way to apologize and say
that you are sorry. For example, I apologize
for the delay. So remember, this
is a formal phrase. So I apologize for something. You express a regret for something that you
have done wrong. I must apologize for
disturbing you like this. So it is followed usually
by a Durand or a noun. I must apologize
for disturbing you. Please forgive me for my, please forgive me for my this is another formal and polite way to apologize for something bad. You have done. So guys, this is the structure
and this is how we use it. Please forgive me for, for example, for my
delay, for my rudeness. We usually use a noun
or a Jeran after it. The next common
and polite phrase is please accept my apology for this is a very polite
way to express your apology. This is the right structure. So we usually say, accept my apology for something which is followed
by a noun or Durand. For example, please accept
my apology for coming late or calling you
stupid or et cetera. Please accept my
apology for something. I owe you an apology. This is another useful phrase we use to actually save that. We are sorry. And guys pay attention
to this point that this phrase actually tends to be used before people say sorry for something that is
not very serious. For example, I owe
you an apology, Sam. I'm afraid I forgot to pass
on your message to Tom. I owe you an apology. Pardon me for this. Pardon me, pardon me for this. This is used for saying, sorry for doing
something or sorry for saying something that you
think might offend people. For example, pardon me
for interrupting you. But there is a
phone call for you. Or we can say pardon
me for saying so. But isn't here a
little old for her? Pardon me, for
something which is usually followed by
a Durand or a noun. My bad, yes, my bad,
though less severe. This is an appropriate
way to say that you are sorry if you have only
made a small mistake. For example, if you
lost something, you might say, My bad, let me get it replaced. Let me get into replaced my bat.

your business. You could start like this. Hello everyone. Nice to see you all here. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Jack Smith. I don't think we
have met before. My name is Jack Smith. I don't think we
have met before. Actually, this is a friendly

by three. Gotcha.
41. Checking stage : So guys, Are you ready to
check your understanding? If yes, let's get started. Remember, you have five seconds to think and find
the right phrases. Let's do it. Your best friend says
that he's reading a story about the
history of the country, then you want to show interests and say how
interesting that is. What phrases you
can think of here. You could say, oh,
that's interesting. That's amazing. Or you could simply
say, that's nice. Fabulous. That's graze. Your classmate
explains and talks about his problems
with his family. Then you want to show that you are listening to him
and understanding him. What would you say? What is the right phrase? You could say? Right or oh, I see. I see. Oh, I see. Your brother says that
he has bought a BMW car, but you don't believe
him because he is poor. So how would you express this? Well, would you
say you could say, Are you joking or
you must be joking? No way. No way. I cannot believe that. Imagine your friend
got accepted in an Oxford University and you are surprised and very interested. What phrases you can use here. That sounds gray
or that's amazing, or you could say,
that's marvelous. Yes, That's marvelous. Your friend asks you, did you hear what I said? You want to show that you
understand her as sound that people make when they
are agreeing with you, when you want to show that they understand what you are saying. So guys, what is it? Gets this sound is aha. Aha, which is very informal
and not very polite.
42. Unit 9 : Ending the talk : In our guys, it's
very important to know how to end the
conversation very politely so other
people wouldn't be offended or actually anchored. In this lesson, you will get introduced to many
common ways we can use to end conversation
in a very polite way. So are you ready? Let's get started. It was nice chatting with you. It was nice chatting with you. This is a common
way we can use to end our conversation
with someone we are chatting with or texting too for conversations
and speaking, you could also say, actually, it was
nice talking to you. It was nice talking to. For conversations. It's better to say it was nice talking to you or it was
nice speaking with you. It was nice talking to you. It was nice talking to is a polite way to end the
conversation quickly. In our guys is difficult to cut the conversation short
when you need to. But this phrase help
lead the people know you appreciated
the conversation. We can only use. It was nice talking
to you at the end of our conversations
when we usually want to nicely and this conversation, It was nice talking
to you, Jack. Well, it's getting late. Well, it's getting late. Well, it's getting
late is a way of saying it's time
for me to leave. So the other person
can understand that you need to go and leave. We usually use this
phrase to show that it is laid and we
can no longer talk. For example, Jack, well,
it's getting leads. I have a meeting. Get six. See you soon. Bye bye. Anyway. I should get going. I should get going. As you know, anyways, used to end the conversation, to change the subject or to resume a subject
after interrupting, say, I should get going when you are ready
to leave somewhere. Well, I guess I
should get going. This sounds soft VR, friendlier than I should go. We could also say, anyway, I should
get back to work. I should get back to work. When you want to stop the
conversation and start working, you can use this phrase anyway, I should get back to work. Sorry, but I'm afraid
I need to sorry. But I'm afraid I need to hear. I'm afraid he's used to express polite or former
apology or regrets. So guys, this is a very
formal and polite way to end the conversation when someone wants to continue
talking to you. For example, Jack,
let's go eat something. Sorry. But I'm afraid
I need to go and visit the doctor at
four maybe next time. Sorry to cut you off, but I actually got a one here. The phrase cut someone off means interrupt
and stop somebody. Sorry to cut you off. But I actually go on. I usually use this
common phrase to stop people very politely and
end the conversation. You show that you are
in Harry and you must go and you can no longer
continue the conversation. Imagine your friend
is talking about his car and then
you suddenly say, sorry to cut you off. But I actually got her on. See you later. Well, I'd love to keep chatting, but well, I'd love
to keep talking, but this is a very
friendly phrase we can use to show that we
are very interested, but we must leave. For example, we'd
love to keep talking, but I have an
appointment at six. We'll talk things over later. Goodbye. I'll talk to you later. It means Let's talk
about it later. Let's discuss it again later. Or it's a phrase which is used when you are
saying goodbye. I'll talk to you later. Or this phrase is less
friendly and polite actually, and mostly used by
native and young people. Can I call you back? Can I call you back
to call somebody? Back means two. Call somebody again
on the telephone. Imagine you are
talking on the phone, then you want to end the conversation just
because there is somebody at the door and you can't continue
the conversation. So this is a polite way to end the conversation on the phone. Well, I'd better be going. I'd better be going. We also say better be going, which is very friendly
and casual way to say that you want to leave,
better be going. So guys, this is said
when someone is about or needs to leave and
end the conversation. Well, we had better be going. We had better be going. It was lovely to
see you as always. Or we could say, better be going, write, better be going, better be
going before I miss my train. Better be going before
I miss my brain.

formal and polite. You missed the call, then later you'll

conversation on the phone? Yes. The first phrase
we could use is hello, we're returning your call. On returning your call, your speaking on the phone, then you want to

to wait is hang on a sec. Hang on a sec, please. When you suddenly lose connection with

52. Unit 11 : Asking for information : As you know guys, we usually use different phrases to
ask for information. We use these phrases in formal and in informal situations. So guys, Are you ready to
learn these common phrases? Let's dive in. Let's start with the first
and the most simple one. And that's, Can you tell me? Can you tell me? This is a very friendly way to ask someone for information. So it's usually used
with WH questions like, can you tell me
where the book is? So it's followed by
a wh wh question. Can you tell me what
the teacher said? Can you tell me how
you learned English? Can you tell me what
time she arrived, etc. Could you tell me
plus wh question. We use this structure and this question in
formal situations. The informal phrase would be, can you tell me Ws question. Again here, it usually use
with WH questions like, could you tell me
where the hotel is? Could you tell me
where the concept is? Could you tell me when
the concert starts, etc. Would you mind comes
with verb I-N-G here? Would you mind? Would you mind? This is another
common and polite way to ask for something? And remember guys, that this is a formal way to ask
for information. Could your mind? And keep in mind that the verb always comes with I-N-G form. Like, would you mind
closing the door? Would you mind speaking louder? Which is the same as Could you please could you
please speak louder? Would you mind speaking louder? Could you please speak louder? The next common phrase is, I wonder if you could. For example, I wonder
if you could tell me or explain or provide information. This is another polite
and formal phrase to ask for information. I wonder if you could. It comes with a simple
form of the verb. I wonder if you could, like, I wonder if you could
help me with my homework. Actually, this is an indirect
way to ask people to help, which is less assertive. And this is used when asking complicated questions that
require a lot of information. Do you have any idea? This is another friendly
way to ask for information. Do you have any idea? Which is usually followed
by Ws questions? Do you have any idea? For example, do
you have any idea why our house is always warm? Which means, do
you have any idea, do you know or can
you think or imagine? Do you have any
information about why our house is always warm? Do you have any idea, guys, this is used when we
ask someone to give us solutions for problems. The next common one is, Could anyone tell me? Could anyone tell me? Guys, use this phrase
when asking group of people like a
group of 10 persons. Like, Could anyone tell
me where my book is? As you can see, this is also
followed by a WH question. Could anyone tell us how much money is needed
to build this house? Could anyone tell us? Would you happen to know? Would you happen to know? Would you happen to know? Here happened to or
refers to chance, not obligation or neat. So this is a polite to
request and question. You're asked. Do you
happen to know when you think that person may
not know the answer, but you just want to ask in
case she or he knows it. My dear friends
using this phrase, You are also being a little bit polite to the person
because the phrase implies that you
would understand even if she didn't
know the answer. Like, Would you happen
to know where she lives? Would you happen to
know where she lives? I don't suppose you would know. It's a phrase we use to
ask you about something. But this phrase we
use it to show we think the answer might be, no. I don't suppose you would know. We use it to make people
feel a little bit guilty so that they are more likely
to do what you ask for. For example, I don't suppose you would know how she
learned English. So guys, this phrase is usually followed by a WH question. I was wondering,
I was wondering, you can use I1 there
if you want to be very polite when you are asking
someone to do something, or when you are asking them for their opinion or for
their information, this is usually followed
by if or whether, for example, I was just
wondering if you could help me. I was just wondering
if you could help me. I'm calling to find out. I'm calling to find out. We usually use this phrase on the telephone to ask
for information. And this is very polite
and formal phrase. I'm calling to find out, like I'm calling
to find out about the project I delivered
a few days ago. I'm calling to find out
where our new classroom is.
