Transcripts
1. Intro: Hey there and
welcome to my course on how to edit videos
using headphone. Headphone is a brand new, free to use powerful
video editing tool, which allows you to create an
edit your very own videos, short films, or animation. It's with learning
how to edit videos is incredibly useful for anyone wanting to start
a YouTube channel, make a course, or just learned
a very valuable skill. In addition, it is
incredibly sought after expertise will be covering
all the basics of HD button, which will allow you
to start editing your very own videos confidently as soon as
you've finished this course. So what are you waiting for? Taking the time to
learn how to edit videos has never been easier, and it will almost
certainly prove useful to you times in the future. Thank you for watching,
and I hope I see you in the next video where
we'll get started.
2. Layout: In this video, we'll be
covering hit films layout, which will allow you to
better understand where everything is and how everything works in editor will be using. Before we get started
with that, however, make sure to head over
to the website you see on your screen if
you haven't already, and click on the
Download Free button to download the latest
version of headphone, which is what we'll be
using to edit our videos. Once you've downloaded,
installed and open headphone, you should be greeted with
the following screen. Now, we're gonna get started
making our first project. Head over to the top
left where you see the big blue Create New button. Once you click this, a
pop-up window will show up, allowing me to edit
your project settings. Make sure to edit this template, which is the most
important setting, which will make sure to set your quality and your frame rate. This will override all
other settings below it. Underneath this, the
duration is not as important as this will update based on your videos contents. So you can leave this as
five-minutes for now. Once you've done this,
click Create and you should be greeted with
the following screen. If you'll hit film
express layout looks a little
different than mine. I'm going to show
you how to reset the layout by doing
the following thing. Go over to window at the top
right, select workspaces, then select the
editing workspace to make sure you're using
the exact same one than I am after this hover
over window one more time and uncheck all of the
things we won't be using. For the purposes of
following along, I recommend you remove the
exact same windows that I do as we won't be needing
them for our first video, I'm going to be removing
the library trauma, audio mixer, history, and
layer panels from my project. And I recommend you do the same. After this, we're ready to start analyzing how hit
films layout works. Now before you, your screen should look identical to mine. If you've followed my
tutorial on removing the correct rulers and selling the correct editing workspace. We're going to be going
over exactly what every single one of
these visible windows does in the hip film editor. To start at the top, you can see the headphone
menu followed by File, Edit, Effects, window,
export and help, as well as learn toggle
is the main menu of head form express
that allows you to navigate here from express as
well as save your project, open new project, access help. And just like any
other main menu does in most applications. Underneath this, the
media and controls window allows you to import new files into your project and inspect specific project files, such as videos or music, will obviously go over
that later in the course. But just know that media
allows you to import files and controls allows you to inspect specific parts
of your project, such as one specific
photo or video file. Underneath this will be
focusing on the effect window, which allows you to add
in different effects and transitions to your videos. Obviously, this will also be
covered later in the course. On the right of this, you
can see the editor timeline, which has a video one track and audio one track and
a master track. This is where we'll be
editing our video and spending most of our time
and hit form express. The big vertical line that is going across our
screen currently set to the 0th second
is our preview line, which allows us to see
where exactly we are in our video and move back and
forth throughout the video. Obviously this will
make more sense when we start adding in video content. But just know that if
you want to move, Add, or Remove content
into your video, you do so in this editor window. On the right of this,
the meters window simply displays the audio of
your current project. And you can use
this to analyze how loud or soft your
project is going to be. Finally, at the top we have
the view and export windows. The viewer window allows
you to preview what your video will look like
before you export it. And the export
Windows allows you to see all the current
tasks you have, which are exporting videos. You will see that later on
when we export our video, but it will show
up in that window. So that's a basic
overview of what every single thing in our current headphone
editor layout does. Obviously, this will
make more sense as we go over each specific
part in the course. But if you've understood
pretty much what every single Windows role is, then you've understood
exactly what you need to. So great job and I'll see
you in the next video.
3. Importing Files: Now that we've gone over headphones layout and what everything doesn't
hit film editor. We're going to do a quick
tutorial on how to import files into your headphone
project to use in your videos. To get started, head over to the top-left your screen and
select the Import button. Once File Explorer opens, you're able to import any of
the supported media files which are available on
the bottom right of your screen into your
headphone project. Simply drag over them and
click the Open button to bring them into your
headphone project to use in your videos. Now this might seem incredibly
straightforward and it is, but there's one important
thing you have to note when importing files into
your headphone projects. And that's how HD film
links to your files. Hit film links to
your files based on the original folder location
you imported the file from. In other words, if I import
a file from downloads, the way HD film is
able to access my file is by linking to that file
in my downloads folder. If I were to move that file
out of my Downloads folder, then hit form will no longer
be able to access this file. For this reason, I recommend you put all of the files
you want to use in your headphone project in a folder called my
headphone project, as well as saving
that project there. So everything's in one space. But if you move a file, hit form is going to give
you an error message. For the sake of demonstration, I'll show you how to fix this. As you can see on my screen, my dove dot jpeg now
has a file not found warning and a yellow warning
market instead of a file. To fix this, what I
need to do is I need to move my mouse over
to my dove dot jpeg, right-click and select
the RailLink option. Then I need to go
into File Explorer and find where I've
moved my file to. I've moved it to
this other folder. Double-click on it
and it will relink the file so I can use
it in my project again. Now, if you've
understood how to import files and the fact that
the files needs to stay in their original location all be linked to keep
using them and hit form. Then you know exactly what
you need to be able to import files into headphone and start editing your very own projects. Great job, and I'll see
you in the next video.
4. Photo and Video Editing: Now that we know how to import files and the basic
layout of head form, I'm going to show you how
to manipulate visual files. In other words, photos, images, or illustrations in
your video projects, which allows you to edit
them much more interesting. So the first thing
you're going to need to do is go ahead and
look at this track. You can see we have a video one track and that's
where we are gonna be dragging our videos
into your photos. You can also add another
track by clicking, Insert track off the
right-clicking on the track. And then you can go your
top track and lock it, which were basically
disabled anything. Or click on the I to
hide or show the track. Obviously, you can
test out those while you're editing
your projects, but those are just extra
features of the tracks. Or you need to know now is
that the tracks are going to be where we're going to be
putting our files into. So to get started, what
you need to do is you need to go to the top
left of your screen where your files are
and you need to drag one of them into
your video track. I'm dragging into the video one and I can put it
anywhere in my track. And now obviously we can't
see it in the preview. Drag it right to the beginning. We can see right over there, there is my image
or illustration. Rather, if I drag another
one, for instance, my Delta J peg into
the track above it, you can see the track
above gets preference. So these videos actually
on top of each other, all these photos rather. Then once again, if I can go
ahead and add in my clouds, done it before and put
it somewhere else. We can see now all
three videos or photos rather have been
added into my project. And we can see it
goes from my dove to my clouds as I
play my project. And those are the basics of
how you're going to input your files into your project
so you can edit them. Now, being able to add in photo and video files
is incredibly useful, but it's not gonna be
that helpful to us unless we know how
to manipulate them. So I'm going to show
you how to move them, crop them, and split them so that you'll files
can be manipulated. The first thing I wanna show
you is how to move them. So if you go ahead
and just go into your file and click left-click, you can move it to
the left and right and you can drag it
over onto your project. And this is how you put your file exactly
where you want it. You can go to the beginning
or right at the end. But for my purposes, I'm going to put
it exactly where the preview is so I can see it. Then if you go to the ends
of each side of the file, you can see that
green curly bracket. If you click while
that's active, you can actually re-size
the duration of your photo. So for instance, if I
go ahead and click now, I can move my file as big
or as small as I want. I'm going to show that
if I go here and I'm going to click and
move it to the right. You can see that my
file gets a lot longer. In other words, the duration of the photo shows is for longer. I can do the same
thing from the left and this changes how long
the photo is sinful. You can see I can edit this in such a way in these exact
same thing with videos. I'll show that in a minute. Now the last thing I
want to show you how to do is how to split files. So splitting files, you can
right-click and click Slice, and that actually
splits the file into two different files. So now we have a dub dot
jpeg and adult dot jpeg. And this allows us to put
other files in the middle or add other things
in-between these files. So just know that if
you want to split your file into two parts, you can do so by right-clicking
and clicking slice. And we can see that in action
over here with my preview. Now, editing videos is
incredibly similar. You can move using the
same commands and resize. But just note that with videos, if you want to resize, you can only do it up to
the length of the video. You cannot go further than that As there'll be
nothing to display. Similarly, slicing works the exact same way
and you can use that to split your videos and then cut your video to a shorter time. So now if I go ahead
and play this, you can see my
video will play for much shorter because I've actually sliced
it in the middle. You won't see much happening, but just know there are
two files and I've played my video and it will now
end at a shorter time. Finally, once you've imported all of your video
and photo files, you can actually edit their
transparency by dragging the horizontal line up and down on every single
one of the files. If I click on that and
I can move it down, you can see my brightness
going up and down of my file. Can move it all the way
down, all the way up. And we can actually use this to affect how bright my
different image files. If I move this tree stuff, PNG one, I can say change
exactly how it looks. I'll move it down. Now it's quite dark
and move it up. It's bright again. We can do the exact
same thing with videos. And this allows you
to have even more customization with your files. So you can see now I have my bright file and my
slightly brighter one. And then my dog has been following that
afterward, my class. That's the basics of how you're going to be changing brightness, moving files around,
slicing them, and changing their duration
and hit from express.
5. Audio Editing: Now the next thing
we need to cover is audio and audio tracks. And this is actually
going to sound very familiar because it's very similar to how
we did video tracks. So if you go over
here and you can see we have my audio one track, I can add a track by
right-clicking and clicking me subtract just
like we did with the video. And the audio tracks
actually also have these lock and mute features just as the
video tracks did, and we can activate
them as we need. They also have this slider, which activates the general
volume control for our track. But again to that
in a little bit. Now in terms of
importing assets, it's very similar to
how we did a video. You're going to drag them into whichever audio track you want. Obviously, audio is going to
be playing simultaneously, so no preference is needed. But if we go ahead
and actually drag that into my audio one track, we can see that now if I go ahead and hit
the Play button, we're going to hear exactly
what that sounds like, and I'll show you
exactly what that is. Now, editing audio is actually very similar
to editing video. We can use the same
left-click and drag to move our audio around. And if we go to the
end of our audio, we can use that green
curly bracket to re-size the duration OC. Keep in mind that
oil, just like video, can't be made longer than the actual duration
of the content. And then we can
also actually split our audio just like we do the
video by right-clicking and clicking slice that will split up into two
different sections. Now, one main difference between audio and video and photos is exactly what this slide does. This actually affects
the volume of audio. So if I move it up or down, that's changing how loud or soft I want my
audio track to be. And if I move it
over here and then activate my volume for my track, that's gonna do the exact
same thing except override all audio in that track
by setting the volume. So if I go ahead and move
that back to the beginning, we can see how my
change volume sounds. The final thing one
needs to know is how to link audio and videos. If you have audio
and video file, you can select both. Holding down and click
and then clicking link. And this will actually
link these two files so that any movement, cropping or slicing that is done to the file
affects both of them. You can unlink them in
the exact same manner by linking both right-clicking
and selecting unlink. And this actually
allows you to have a little more control of how your videos and
audios act together. It's a very useful
feature if you want to add audio and
video and coalitions. So just keep that in mind. And that actually wraps up
our audio editing section. Obviously it was very similar to our video editing section, but hopefully with
the tools that we have learned in these
last two videos, you're able to edit your videos a lot more comfortably and make a lot more interesting
videos with headphone. I'll see
you in the next video.
6. Controls: Now one other feature of
it's really useful to know when editing and headphone
is the controls window. So you can actually go
ahead and select any file. It can be PNG or JPEG, photo or video, audio. And you go to the top
and you could controls, you can see all the information about that particular clip. So you can see over here we
have clipped properties, blend and motion blur, the transform, their
behaviors, all of that. And this is actually
where you can see all the specifics
about your clip. But you can go
ahead and actually tampered with these
however you want. And that goes and
shows you all of the different information
about your specific clip. Now, the one thing I am
going to demonstrate how to do is change the
transform audio clips. If you go to the top,
you can see over here you can change
the position. You can put both the
x and the y position. You can also change the scales. We're making it small, big. And if you click on
that little chain, you can unlink them. And now you can change
just the x or just the y. In addition, you can also
change the rotation Z, as well as the opacity, which we obviously went over when we were covering videos. And this is just a really
useful feature to know if you want to edit specifics
of a clip, for instance, if you want to move it
exact amounts to the left, you can see the value for its position and all
of that kind of stuff. So just know that controls is exactly where you're
going to add all of that. And it's another
really useful feature to note when you're
editing and headphone.
7. Adding Effects: Now one other incredibly
useful feature to know it and hit from express
is this effects window, which allows us to
add a whole bunch of different effects or
alterations to our clips, whether it'd be photos,
videos, or even audio. And it allows us to customize our videos a whole lot more. So we'll go over here
to this audio folder and we drag in, for instance, this balance effect
onto our audio, which is the Piano
music we had earlier. Then we can actually
go ahead and change the balance over here, under this controls menus, we can make it more to
the left or more to the right by dragging
that slide over there. And that will obviously
affect how the audio sounds. This is an incredibly useful
feature to use if you want to tweak your audio
or video properties. Now, one incredibly
useful folder effects are these transitions, both the audio and
video transitions, which allow us to add
smooth transitions between different clips. If I drag in this fade
audio transition, we're going to hear a
nice fade in when we play our audio instead of the jarring start
that we were used to. And similarly, if I
go ahead actually into my transitions
video over here, I can go see all of the different types
of effects below me, including this one over here, dissolve which is like fading, the fate of color ones, the motion ones, the white
ones, even the Zoom ones. All of them are quite
self-explanatory and you can just play around and choose
whichever ones you want. And you can add these
transitions to the beginning or the end or in-between
two different clips. Using these transitions,
it actually allows us to make a lot more flowy videos. And we add all of these
together right now, but a few in-between
the clips at one at the beginning and put another
one in-between this clip, we're going to have a much
more flowing clip and I'll show you exactly how that
looks and sounds now. Now that was really cool, But the one thing we need to know is how to make these transitions
longer or shorter. And we can actually
use the exact same two-week it with videos. If you go to the end
of the transition and wait till that green
bracket appears, we can change exactly how long these transitions
last fall. And doing so allows us to have much slower and
smoother transitions. As we play our clip, we can see that in
action right over here. And you can obviously
change these two, whichever one suits
your video style. Now, while transitions
are undeniably the most useful of all the
effects in headphone. There are actually a whole bunch of different effects over here, which you can add to
your clips to make them a lot more
interesting and exciting. For instance, if I
scroll up over here, you can see this bulge effect I've selected under distort. If I drag that onto
my bird picture, you can see the effect
that has already, if I opened my controls panel, which automatically opens
when I add an effect on, I can change the settings
of this effect and exactly how this
changes my picture. Obviously this is a bit
of a dressing example, but you can see
the overall effect of these effects can have on your project and how
drastically they can change your projects
mood or ambiance. Go ahead and add an echo
filter to my audio clip. We can actually see
this in action again. If I go ahead and change
these settings a little bit to make the echo a
little less dramatic, we can see exactly
how this sounds and using these features and
these basic concepts, I was able to make the sample
video to show you just how much you can change your videos using a few simple effects, obviously, all already
available in headphone.
8. Exporting: Now, the final step, once you're done editing
all your videos, is going to be exporting them. But luckily, hit form
makes this really easy. All you need to do is
go to the top right of your editor, select Export, then click to file, and go ahead and
choose a location, a filename, and a file type. I'm going to use mp4 and I'm
going to name mine my video. Once you've done that, just
go ahead and click Next. And your file will
start exporting, and it will give you a
progress bar as well as a preview of your video to show you exactly how
much has been exported. This process won't
take too long, however, it might be a while. So just go ahead and
wait for your computer to make a notification sound. And the minute it has, your file will be saved in
whatever format you selected at that exact
location, ready to distribute. I hope this makes everything
a whole lot simpler. And now you're able
to edit comfortably and headphone using the
tools I've told you. I'll see you in the final video where we'll wrap up our course. And thank you again
for watching.
9. Conclusion: So that marks the end of my course on how to
