1. Intro: Hi, my name is I'm an architect by trade, but now I'm starting my career as an illustrator. Welcome to my class. As a child, I always drew and I can say that it's like breathing to me, but I cannot imagine life without creating something with my hands. Among other things, like creating patterns. Drawing trees became a form of meditation to me. But drawing trees can be scattering. That's why I created a step-by-step tutorial. And a lot of people like that. So I follow the dots, I can explore that idea a bit more and add new things to it. It will be fun. I will talk a bit about the theory and how this green and brown stuff is built. Second, that will be N trick to make it easier to draw. Then I will show you tools that you can use to follow. And at last, I will show you how I drawn. This class is for beginners and those who struggle with drawing trees. I'll show you how to draw them who have alcohol markers. But you can follow with other mediums, you have. Skills and mindset from this class will come in handy in different topics. I like drawing faces or hands would add. Also scary, tamed. So that tough part is that we done land from watching alone. So peaks to the project and share it so we can admire your work. Your job will be to draw a sketch and then I colored version of the reference. You can choose from my photos. Maybe you have a favorite green yard, back yard. You can Google it or slept on the Pinterest. I can tell you that there is a lot of coupons like this to drop. I'm excited to see your projects. So let's begin. Hi, hi, hi, hi, hi.
2. Project: Welcome back to my class. Let's talk about a couple of resources. You can find them on the right-hand side of the project tab below this video. Please choose one. If you have your photo that you like, these basic legality, I would like to see before you get to the colorful picture, look at the reference photo on this bird a piece of paper and do a little sketch. With banks. They can not deserve. What is the biggest shape? What are the proportions? How often is that drank in the nuggets? B, and so on. Established from what direction the light is shining and the wet up the highlights that can the shadow area. And then remember, to keep the three towns of value. This but should be quick. You are just taking notes about your day, getting to know it. Next. You translate it to the color drawing using the knowledge you have from the sketch. If you had a fright of drawing it, just put the market that paper and do the first lightest shape. Even though if your eyes closed after that, forward, they can close from your map. This for the shadows, then some details at a patch of grass. So it won't float in the whitespace. Put up the shadow. You have done. Your drawing, doesn't have been affected, depicted three. You are making a stylized drawing. Not difficult down. But remember that the three Lonsdale you, that the nose is the longer that they are that is you have a space for trained us and interpretations. So no worries. When you have finished snap a photo feudal walk with your fall. You have the means, you can scan it. Upload the image of this catch and the final to the gallery. You can write what was the bath and share your thoughts about if you have that lens serving about these three drawings that it would be nice to read. Of course, it's not mandated. Have in mind that this is not arrays, but then that atom. Although this can be far behind or ahead of you, It's important that you are improving. And now you'll have wonky done democratic to have fun and see you next lesson.
3. Theory: Back to the business time for a bit of theory. As you can see, trees can be in many shapes. Most of them can be simplified into basic shapes like circle, triangle, oval. But whom we are living in that three-dimensional world. And those shapes have a 3D point. Starting from the bottom. The trunk and branches arrange simplification cylinders and the canopy SP. A young tree resemble a ball on a stick. But the old one, standing alone has a space to stretch its branches so that it looks like a mashup. Of course, different types of trees have different though. For example, the Popplet is elongated and the AUC is more sprawling. And everyone knows the shape of the Christmas tree. Of course, you don't need to know all the fancy names to draw them. Here doesn't look absurd of them. To make sure that they don't look super flat. You should draw shadows and lights almost like it's built from there. One-dimensional shapes and forms like on those boring lessons, how to shade the ball out-of-box. The difference is that the trees are more organic and fluid. Also, the light and shadow brings everything to life. It provides depth to the drawing. For this one, I will quickly change the season and show you what is the skeleton and that those fluffy cleans. The tank separates into the main thicker branches from which smaller branches, the path phone, for example, a Y shape. It can resemble a factor. Depending on the three, the liar may be different, like with the weeping willow. To make it easier to draw to the colon that will be a base green. And then one litre and one that occur. That drawing from the lightest of color. For the bat, we can simplify it even more. Just one brown or gray will be enough. And the one darker color too. Drop shadow is important to show the time of a day and perspective. So don't forget to add it at the end. Drawing the sketch and the final picture. Focus first on the big shapes and proportions observed the reference. Notice how tall is the tree in regard to its width? What kind of the shape is it? Have that holes in the leaves, have the planters poking out details. At the end. You have to decide on the degree of simplifications. Will you had three BMS, sharp edged logs, or more painterly with colored transitions and soft edges. In this class, we will focus on markets and simple style. With details, you can make it more lifelike. What a stylized. Just be careful and don't overdo it. A couple of lines marking where beliefs should be and a suggestion, what kind of tree it is should be enough. The pattern of the bag should wrap around the trunk to better emphasize the 3D nature of it. Here are some examples of you can mark them. To summarize. Those are the points that you should focus on. Three, as a set of shapes, renderings. So it looks like 3D, object, light and shadow. Drawing from big to small. Drawing from light to dark colors. Checking the contrast. Thick to thin branches. Degree of simplification. Details and texture. See you in the next lesson.
4. Mindset: It's time for a bit of psychology. Oh no, this is too hard. I'm not gonna do it. Did you hear it or something like that? Or maybe you are telling that to yourself. That's just an excuse to not do something. It's time to take care of your head. Everything is scary and difficult at first. And it's our task to make things easier for us. Life is hard enough as it is, and drawing should be fun. Fattest, forget about those who tell you that drawing his heart are useless. That you have to have a talent and so on. Those are not useful thoughts and they will not help you in any way. It's obvious that to get somewhere, you will have to put in effort and work. But the negative attitude is not helping. You have to discover the subject and how to approach it. That will take away the fear of not knowing. Next. Get to know your tools. Steer markers and papers. Check what kind of lines can you do with a thin limb? Maybe you have a brush. Does the chisel nib, the only broad strokes of maybe using the edge, you can do finer lines. The same goes for brush pen. From the fine liners. Head drawing is a flat thing and only resembles the 3D objects thanks to the right shading. So forget that you are drawing a tree and focus on their shapes of color. It's easy. And you can do it. If you have to use the pencil. Mark the boundaries of this plots of color. But remember to do it lightly, or even erase it and bid with a kneaded eraser. So they wanted me. After some time and practice. You will see that you don't need depends on. See you in the next lesson.
5. Tools: This class will be about doors. I use pro-market that are alcohol-based, similar to capex and who who who? Marcus. I owned a couple of topics and tools pro Marcus because back in the day, they were cheaper option. I still have many of them from the original trusted company, but now they are produced by Winsor and Newton. They come in as a twin tip to them, bullet and the chisel nib. And as a brush marker, what are the bullet nip is replaced by brash. They provide some of color with almost no texture. In this picture, you can compare markers and Copic Ciao. As the alcohol-based markets. They have a couple of cons that you will have to be prepared thought they were smeared, used over a Penzu, fountain pen, ink pens. Many fine liners, Bosack on the printouts. The ink printer. You better have that in mind before you start your drawing, just to not be devastated by the result. And now that problem is a bleed through. They will soak through the paper to the other side. So to avoid the mess, you can use special marker paper that has the backside sealed. You can see the color on the back, but it won't go to the next page. If you decide to use a sketchbook, remember to put extra piece of paper under debate, for an example, from that marker paper pad or the plastic foil used in binding as a clear cover, this one will set a view longer. Here you can see that I forgot to put it in. And this time it wasn't that bad. Remember not to draw on the back side of the picture you like, because the beads can destroy it. Marika will spread on the paper and it can go further than you expect it to. We'll create the fuzzy edges. If you have a line that Dan with something that was mean, you can scan it and print it on the laser printer. Toner should stay in place. That's your paper. Everyone has different preferences. And the marker paper can be really fin. On the other hand, the thick paper where eat your market more quickly. And you will have to buy a new consumer markets at a transparent and just like watercolors, it is recommended to draw from light to dark. You can always make something darker with extra layer of market. If you want to try alcohol markers, you can buy three shades of gray. And just to see if you like to work with them, numbers 1, 3, 5, and a black for an extra effect should be enough to make a ton of drawings in grayscale. You can then add the colors you need. Let's set. I don't recommend buying big sets unless you can get them chip. You can follow this class with watercolors. Just remember to wait for the layer to dry before putting on the next one. You can do it with regular market, Posca markers, colored pencils. I do the lines and details after the market is all done. So anything Waldo, Pentel brush, pen, dip, pen, ink, pen, fine liners are for the software look. Colored pencil. To summarize their steel markets. Thirsty or papers. Just mixing the supplies. If you use depends on n-bit. You don't need to have all the colors at the beginning. I know that they're great to see you at the next class.
6. Sketch: At last, this I'm using a sketchbook at creations from talents. And because I'm really light handed as seven B pencil on top of the page and draw a bracket with dance lights to that. This will be helpful to verify the contrast. The frame is not necessary, but they like my sketches into boxes. Mock the simplified shape of the tree crown, then change it to better match the photo. I'm constantly looking from the page to the reference. I'm not precious with the lines. It's only a sketch. After this tractor is in place, I stopped shading the three. We have this side of the pencil. This way I can cover more space. The adult shows from what angle the light is shining. Knowing that I can mark the drop shadow and shape of the crown. That out of that bucket. I continue to add details like places where the canopies broken and has shadows and branches. Then darken the shadows. And that grass. The whole sketch took me eight minutes. And this video is up slightly reference, and it's done. Coming next. The same tree, but in color.
7. Color: The time has come for the final drawing. I'm using the same sketchbook. My spare piece of paper is under the page. First goes the lightest color in this setup, the apple, I do the rough contour of the paths that will be the lightest. At pulse, you can see these peaks, but they will dry up. The second card comes in the forest green, my favorite. Now we have the full tree crown. Next one. For the back end. I think that it was too dark, but, you know, things like that happens. That always will be another drop. Vi is the darkest green color here. I added sparingly. And then again the photo screen to mark the leaves and the fluff it up. Most of the drawing I did with the Gs are named for the details and the shadow. We are looking down. So you can see a lot of gas and the shadow. So it wouldn't match with that. The final details, I chose them pentel touch ban. It has a flexible nib that can do a different line weights. I mark the pattern of the bark and leaves in what I call mostly in places that are edges between the colors. Hello. Finally, I have the darkest paths. Now, we have them. See you in the last part of this class.
8. Final Thoughts: Congrats, you made it. We cover everything from the theory to the tools that you can use. If there is one thing that I hope you take away from this class, this, he had just throwing spots of color. And you can do it at symbol. These upload your project to the project gallery on the class page so we can all take a look. If you liked this class, please leave a review. Don't be afraid to ask questions. I'll do my best to answer them. You can follow me on my profile or tag me on Instagram. If you want my soapbox about their use hashtag threes who have Dora. So I can find you. Thanks again and see you next time.
