1. INTRODUCTION: My Story: Hi, My name is Donna. I'm a multimedia artist by day, in an illustrator by night. Because art is something I create for myself. Coming home from work to do more work can feel like a chore. Thoughts like I don't know what to draw or this needs to be perfect takes the fun out of the process and can leave me Parral ist. When I stumbled upon a daily drawing challenge called Sketch Temper, I said Who? What's that? It was a fairly simple challenge. Do one sketch per day for the month of September, and at that time I had been neglecting my sketchbook and saw this as the perfect opportunity to reconnect with my art. I got the idea to draw. Using one line from this steel, she mentioned it was an exercise she uses. When she felt uninspired, I needed to get her hands moving, which was exactly what I did at the time. I asked myself, What subject do I want to learn how to draw? But I'm terrified of doing wrong. Instantly. The words buildings and backgrounds came to mind, and for the whole month of September, that's exactly what I did in this class, I'll be giving a few tips so you can feel better equipped to tackle this one line drawing challenge. 2. MATERIALS: Sketchbook and Pens: her this class, you'll be needing a sketchbook and a few pens. My currents are the most commonly used fine liners among artists, but honestly, you don't need fancy pens. Ballpoint Pence would do just fine. Personally, I like a pop of color in my work, So I'll be using these stubby, low colored pence I found lying around the house sketchbook I have here has a nice, thick 120 GS on paper, which holds a quite nicely. If you are working on a paper that is thinner than this, make sure to insert a scrap sheet behind your page so that it doesn't seek huge to next. Don't forget your picture. You could use photos you've taken like what I've opted to do for this class or girl through websites like Pinterest and Instagram to find reference, which inspires you. After prepping all your materials, we can jump into the sketching process 3. DEMO: Tips and Tricks: before sketching. First, measure the proportions of the building and observe any symmetries. The's notes will help guide you as you draw for this example. I've broken down the building into three main parts. The center square and the rectangular towers on its left and right. The roofs help me measure the width, and similarly, the floors of the building creates checkpoints to base my height. Next, consider the layout of your page and determine where you should start. Since I'm right handed, I've opted to begin top left to bottom. Right tow. Avoid smudging if you're left handed, start from top right to bottom. Left as you work, Feel free to add it out. Any unnecessary details here? I've removed the cars in front of the building as it does nothing to improve the composition. - Remember the checkpoints we took note off. I'm marking the different floors of the building for later reference. When I'm drawing in the windows, notice how I looked back and forth from my illustration to the picture. It's important to constantly check if you're joining matches your reference. - No , I wanted to show you how I simplified the religions. It's actually just once quickly lying drawn without much position and likewise, the shops. They're a bunch of random, wobbly nines without much detail. So don't worry about messing up, because the more in perfect your lines, the better they look. I'm pretty satisfied with how things have turned out. Now I'm just going in tow. Add the small details I missed like the windows and the doors and the window display a tip . When doing this. Pick a nearby existing point to start from, so that the new line will connect with the whole illustration. I think at this point I'm really just fussing about adding textures and shadows. Once he reached this stage, you know it's time to stop afterwards. Put a title and the date and you're about done. 4. FINAL THOUGHTS: My Thanks: Once you've mastered this technique, you can draw almost anything. Food, people, random things in this treat the stuff on your desk. I hope this exercise encourages you to explore more in your art dreamy and help you overcome the fear of imperfection. My goal really is to share the joy of creating. And they hope you were able to have fun in this class. Don't forget to upload your works in the gallery. I would love to see your progress and connect with fellow artists. Thanks for letting me be a part of your art journey. See you next time.
