1. Introduction: Do you enjoy simple art techniques? Well, in this mini class, I want to show you a method for painting here using a clipping mask. We will start with basic shapes, then we will create a galaxy scene, and finally, we'll combine it all together and add details. So let's get started. 2. Hairstyle Demo: First, we're going to start with the basic shape of the hair. Following the crown of her head, we're going to get a shape above and make the base for her banks is cover her eyebrows, so we're just going to make the shape of the ends of the hair and then fill in the entire shape. Just want to make sure your shape is closed so the color drop can work. I'm going to be just doing the flyaways right now as I'm going instead of waiting until the end. If you want to keep the hair this way, you could keep it, but I'm going to add more until we get to the special part of coloring in the hair. We're just going to do the basic shape again for the back of her hair to complete the up and down look. Again, you want to make sure that shape is filled in and complete. When you use a color drop tool, it will just be easy, PZ. I'm going to be adding more flyaways. We're just going to do basic curves almost like a ribbon. You want to start off at thinner end and a thicker edge as you go around the wavy curls. Now we have the basic shape of the hairstyle. I'm also going to be using the smug tool here so I can smooth out her hair edges so it actually looks like hair strands. Next, you want to take the eraser tool and you want to just create little spaces in between the hair to make it look a little bit more natural. We're going to name this layer, our base layer. Next, we're going to create a layer above. You want to hit the plus sign in layers. What we're going to do is just toggle these two layers. What we're going to do is something really interesting. Going to make a landscape. I chose a quick galaxy scene. To do this just base color, which is purple and you want to go to the brush library next, and we're going to go to the airbrush, the soft airbrush tool. You can adjust your brush, but we just want to do a really huge sweeping motion. Right here, I'm just having a bit of trouble, so I'm just going to be adjusting my lighting here. But you want to just make sure it blends and using the soft brush is very easy to get that effect. I'm just going to add a blue color here. The variation colors I'm going for are purple, blue, and a dark purple. I guess you could say as long as it looks like the night sky. Next, I'm just going to use the inking brush to get the sharp effect for the stars. We're just going to do small dots all around, does not have to be perfect. You want to next add other stars just to make it look a little bit more realistic? Just to create a quick galaxy night sky scene. We're going to make sure this layer we're going to hit the image and then we're going to make sure that the layer is on the clipping mask mode. If you don't see it at first, you have to make sure that the figure and then the base hairstyle is clicked, then you'll get the effect. Because you can see the clipping mask went straight to the hair and you can toggle and adjust however you want. It is a very cool effect. Right now, what I want to do is adjust it to my liking. I like the darker effect at the top and lighter at the bottom. Then I also put more stars using the technical inking brush. I'm going to create a little shooting stars since I think that will make a better effect here. Just add a little more detail. Next, I'm going to have a details layer and just add a little more flyaway to make it look a little bit more semi realistic. You can color swatch and use the colors in the hair as well. This is a really fun look to do just to diversify your hairstyles and if you really want to just add images, you can find a quick style they use on posters. This is the final look, and now it's your turn to create the same look.
