More info about Mr. Belt & Wezol:

Often described as the Netherlands' most striking DJ duo, Mr. Belt & Wezol stand out both production and appearance wise. Hits like "Finally", "Boogie Wonderland" and "Let’s All Chant" have an old school house and disco vibe, twisted with Mr. B&W’s characteristic dynamic drops. While their sound is easily recognizable among the other Spinnin’ Records' releases, there's also another piece to the cake that makes this act special: their videos. Always spot on between humor and originality it often makes the fans eager to not only listen to the next track, but also to see the next track.

With their packed festival schedule there is a big chance you will see the guys in real life. 2018 marked their debut at Tomorrowland and Wish Outdoor Mexico. Shows like those on Kingsday were celebrated with four appearances throughout all corners of the Netherlands. But if you really want to see the guys in their element, you should visit their "The Cuckoo’s Nest" hostings and clubshows. Here they play long solo sets or invite all of their DJ friends for a huge back2back frenzy. The ADE editions are traditionally sold out and new editions will be announced all year round.

1. Introduction: I'll name and open dam and the ever creative drop that's really sounding awesome. But you never get to make it into a full song. You know, you just listened to that four-bar loop over and over again until you grow tired of it, then you abandon the project and you never listen to it again. Well, maybe a few months later you listen to it again. You listen to the drop again. You think, oh shit, this is pretty cool. This is sounding really good. But still, you can't develop it into a full sun. Well, this is a very common thing happening with producers. And I had this problem a lot myself, you know, I just created to drop and it stopped there. And labels are interested in full songs, are enough interested in drops. So it shifts, moved past his face at certain moments. And today we're gonna talk about three tips that's really helped me in this aspect. 2. Tip 1: don't start with your drop: So the first tip is ready. Yeah, you can think of this step yourself. I think bots, it is to not start with our drop, start with something else. Your break for example. And I totally get that you want to start with your dropped first. You know, a lot of people think that's the drop is the most important parts about dance music ends. In a lot of cases it is, but your break is also really important. A good drop with a bad break is still a really bad song. Overall. You know, both the break and the drop should be of good quality. And that's one thing you have to consider, I think. But the second thing you should consider is that starting with a break actually really alters the way you create music because in bricks, there doesn't need to be a certain energy. You know, it doesn't need to have a lot of elements like drop has, you know, a break can be really atmospheric. It could be 3D via IV. You can really set the tone of your track in a brick. And it also gets played before your drops. So it's kind of more important that was Raul. But I think because it's in an early stage, it already tells the listener if they should continue listening to the track. So already obviously, I think that's a really important one, starts by creating a break, start with courts or whatever. And yet that will read, that will really alter the way how you approach producing music. I think. 3. Tip 2: arrange your project straight away: So in this project I created a quick drop. So if I would be stuck in this loop right here and I couldn't continue. A tip that I would give to myself is to arrange straight away. So you can see right here that I have some marker, sometimes markers. And what I would just do is I will just fill out the playlist I have. So I will take this parts. Boom, there's my first row. Then I will take this part's, throw it to the second drop. Boom, that's my second drop. And this way you can kind of see what's you are working towards, you know. And you can take this to a whole other level by adding some kind of song. So let's just adds stupid, um, and you can go really specific with this. So let's say we have the intro right here. So there's a piano being added right here. So I'll put at a time marker, say add piano. And you can do this for the entire song. You know, we'd also for to drop. So drop right here. What's being added? So we have to drop right here. I think we just listened to what is being added where. So right here, for example, there's a second since being edits. Like on top of the first since. And right here there's strings being edits being added there as well. You can go as far as you want, adding time markers for every single change that's going on. And what this does for you is that if you have this loop going on in your sung, you know exactly what you can add to develop it further. And for me, this really helps, you know, even before creating a drop entirely, you just throw a track in there which you think has a cool arrangements or as cool elements being edits or you just like the attention span off that track, you know, it could be anything. Just drag it into your doll. Adds timed markers on went to ads watts and copy that over in your own style, you know. So for me, for example, if, if I was creating this track, so whenever we're strings being added right here, all right, so maybe I should try and add strings to the song. Let's just try that. Maybe it doesn't work, but, you know, it doesn't hurt to try it at least. So let's add labs whenever. Let's add strings. And that's so we can, you know, at that maybe there's another node we can use. Then maybe add some effects to that. I'm just demonstrating how this could work. All-day add some side chaining through that. And that's how you can develop your song into something more than just a drop. So that will be my second tip. 4. Tip 3: use the drop to make a break: The last step I have is that you use elements of the drop that you already created to make a break. And what I mean with that is, for example, in this drop, you have the the way thing which is kind of melodic. Maybe that's a little bit hard to create something around. But what I will do in this instance is I will take this melody and I would copy that over to a piano roll. So that's not the correct note that think. So, I will take those notes. Then go to this button right here and new pattern, then throw them on the piano roll here. But the moment higher octave. And then adds some kind of base notes it as. So. Those could be based notes. And now maybe let's add some more notes to this. And now you have corn's going on. And you can even remove the original melody. And now you have something that sounds harmonically correct, which are drop. Easy as that. This is the most effective way I think to move something completely different without the new thing sounding out of touch or out of harmony with your original melody. And yeah, I think this works like a charm always. And I hope you can do your advantage when it's, you know, like I said, labels once full tracks the, they do not want drops they are looking for, as well as a good drop as a good break. It's knots. If you have a good drop, you have everything. The break is important, maybe even more important than the drop, I think. So that's about it. I hope you learned something today. I hope you can use this information to develop your track. Make a full track Senate to label, gets signs and further your career. Thanks for watching. See you next time.
