1. Introduction : what you will learn in this class: Have you ever wanted to design your own C, adding special touch that reflects your unique style or have you ever wanted to make a special personalized gift for your loved ones with your design? Hi there, I'm Eva, and I'm thrilled to be your instructor for this exciting class. In this class, I'm going to show you how I sketch and draw my design in procreate apps from scratch. We will start with a sketch and then I'll show you how to outline and color the wheel design with the right brush and how to export a file into cricket design space or any other cutting machine software. I'll share with you all the tools and materials needed to make this project, such as the vinyl that I use, the Cricket Met, the tool, and also the cutting machine. At last, I will show you how to transfer the vinyl design onto your C. We will start with removing the excess vinyl, and with transfer tape, we will transfer the design onto the K. Join me in this class and unlock your creativity as you learn to design your own mark. With procreate and cricket and roll now. And let's start creating. 2. Lesson 2 : tools and materials needed to create this project: In this lesson, I'm going to share with you all the tools and materials that you're going to need to make this C design. You will need a cutting machine. I'm using Cricket Maker Three, but this project is also suitable for other models such as Cricket Joy and Cricket Explorer. For the mat, I'm using pre cut Standard Creek mat scraper tool and a weeding tool to remove the access vinyl. These are the material that I use to cut my design. I use black permanent vinyl for the upper body part of the wheel as well as the text. This is silver adhesive foil for the lower body part of the wheel, transfer tape to transfer your vinyl design onto the Mac surface. If you want to get more creative, you can add message on your mark. For that sticker message, I'm using this chalkboard vinyl. You can write on it with chalk marker and wipe it off with paper towel for the mark. You can use any. I'm using this clear glass. I draw my design on ipad Air with Apple pencil, and I draw in procreate apps. That's all for the tools and matrials. In the next lesson, I'm going to share with you how to sketch and draw the wheel in procreate apps. 3. Lesson 3 : how to sketch and draw your design in Procreate apps: In this tutorial, I'll show you how to get started with procreate, including basic tools and techniques to sketch your wheel, open, procreate, and create new canvas. I'm going to choose a four for the size. To make the rough sketch, I usually use drying brush. You can adjust the brush size and opacity for more control. You can also control the flow of your brush. To do that, you can go to the brush panel and click on the brush that you're currently using. Tap on stabilization and adjust the controller. I usually start with the upper body and this is the dorsal fin. And then draw the tail at the end of the body. Will tails can vary in shape. Feel free to experiment with this when creating a rough sketch. Focus on getting the proportions and balance right, rather than worrying about creating smooth lines. Make adjustments as needed to ensure everything looks right. Once you're satisfied with the basic layout, you can move on to the next page. We're going to refine the sketch, creating smooth lines and add more details for this sketch layer. I'm going to bring the opacity down and I'm going to create a new layer for the outline. I'm still using the same brush, which is dry. In this time I'm going to bring the opacity up to 100% I'm going to outline my sketch. Let's rename the second layer as sketch. I use two different materials for my Wheels design. I use the black vinyl and the other one is adhesive foil. I'm going to create new layer. This is for the black vinyl design, which is the upper part of the wheels body. I'm going to choose a brush that is designed for smooth lines. In the brush setting, I'm going to slide the stabilization controller to 70% to create a smoother strokes. Bring down the opacity of the sketch layer, and then draw a clean, smooth lines on the black vinyl layer that you just created. Just to confirm with you again, the design in this black vinyl layer is only for the whales body part that will be cut on black vinyl. Just make sure the shapes of your whale is smooth and clean. Then with the eraser tool, you can create the eye. Now we're going to draw the lower body part of the wheels which will be cut on silver adhesive foil. We're going to create a new layer for that and I'm going to name it silver vinyl. Share the shape of your wheel is clean and smooth because the shape will determine the cutting line. And I want to create a gap in between the silver vinyl and the black vinyl. So I'm going to erase the middle part. That's it, our drawing is finished. Next, I'm going to air drop this to my computer. First I'm going to import the silver vinyl layer, remove the background color, and hide the black vinyl design. Go to the top panel, click on this icon, and we're going to export the file S PNG. Next, I'm going to export the black vinyl design, so I'm going to hide the silver vinyl layer. In the next lesson, I'm going to share with you how to set up the file for cutting in cricket design space. 4. Lesson 4 : how to set up the file in Cricut Design Space: In this lesson, I'm going to share with you how to set up the file in Cricket Design Space for cutting open cricket design space. And click on New Project. Upload the file that you just drop from your ipad. These are the two files that I just drop from my ipad. And I'm going to upload it one by one for the image type just complex and hit continue, hit Apply and continue. We're not going to use print the cut image function for this project. I'm just going to choose Cut Image and hit Upload. And you can see this is the uploaded file. Let's upload the other file, which is the wells lower body part. Select Complex for the image type. Hit continue, hit Apply and continue. Then select Cut Image. All right, these are the two files that we just uploaded. I'm going to select both files and add to Canvas. Let's change the color of the lower body part to gray. I'm going to adjust the size. Next, I'm going to share with you how to make the cut out stars on the lower body part of the wheel. Go to the left panel and click on the ship's icon. Select the star ship and adjust the size, Make sure the size is not too small. My guideline is the width at least should be two millimeter. Now we're going to highlight the star layer and also the lower body parts of the wheel. Go to the bottom panel and select Combine and select Substract. Now, as you can see, the star shape has become a cutout pattern on the whales body. Let's make another one. This time I'm going to make a cutout circle on the whales body. After that, you've got to select both layers together. The lower body parts of the whale layer and also the circle layer. Go to the bottom panel, click Combine, and click Substract. I'm going to add another cutout, Stars at the back here. After that, select both layers together, the stars layer and also the lower body part of the wheel. Go to the bottom panel, click Combine and click Substract. Next you've got to measure the size of your cup. Mine is 12 by five M. I'm going to create a box as my guideline. Go to the top panel and unlock this. You need to change the width and the height according to your mark size. After that, go to the operation panel and choose Guide. I'm going to duplicate this wheel layer. To do that, go to the top panel and click on this icon. This is going to be the Daddy's wheel. I'm going to flip the image, and later I'm going to adjust the size. I'm going to add some air bubbles. Click on the Shape icons and select Circle. Just copy and paste the circle and adjust the size. Select the circle layers all together. Go to the bottom panel. Click Combine and choose Weld. Now as you can see, the four individual circle layers are merged into one layer. Now I'm going to duplicate that layer for the dead wheel. Adjust your design and make sure everything is within the square guide. Next, I'm going to share with you how to add the text. Go to the left panel and click on the text icon. Look at the top panel and find font. To change the font type, click on the drop down arrow. We are pretty much done with the design. You can add other elements if you want to. Now what I'm going to do is adjusting the size, arrange the file, make sure everything is within the square. Once you're done with that, we're going to categorize the layer based on the material used. The text layer, the upper body part of the wheel. Go to the bottom panel and click Attach. All the selected layers will be cut on black vinyl. I'm going to hide that layer so you can see the rest of the elements. These elements will be cut on adhesive foil. Select all the layers together except the square guide and attach them together. Once you're done with that, we're going to cut this file. Go to the top panel and click Make change the marial size for both mats to 30.5 by 30.5 centimeter. Then after that hit continue. Now you've got to set the piece Marial. We're going to cut the lower body part of the wheel. I'm going to use silver adhesive foil for that and set default for the pressure. Next, cut the second file, which is the upper body part of the wheel and we're going to cut the design on the permanent black al. Set default for the pressure and prepare the material on your mat once you're done with a cutting. In the next lesson I'm going to share with you how to with the design and how to transfer it onto your Marc. 5. Lesson 5 : how to weed the excess vinyl and how to transfer the design on the mug: In this lesson, I'm going to share with you how to with the excess final and how to transfer your design onto the mark once you're done with a cutting. Next we're going to remove the excess final. You can use weeding two to remove the small part. Once you remove all the excess final, we're going to transfer the design with transfer tape. Cut the transfer tape slightly larger than your design. I'm going to start with the wheel. It will be easier for me to transfer part by part. You can use the scraper to remove the air bubble and to make sure that the vinyl designs stick properly onto the transfer tape and slowly remove the vinyl backing. I will place that on top of the lower body part of the wheel. Use the scraper to again make sure that both design adhere properly onto the transfer tape and slowly remove the vinyl backing. Before you transfer your design, make sure the mark that you're using is clean. Place the transfer tape with your design on the surface of your mark. Use the scraper tool to remove the bubble and slowly peel the transfer tape. Do the same thing with the text. Cutting and weeding the text can be quite tricky. I always cut more than one file just in case if I make mistake. I still have spare text to use. And that's it. This is how the finished product looks like. In the next on. I'm going to share with you how to add this sticker message using chalkboard vinyl. 6. Lesson 6 : how to add sticker message on your cup: In this lesson, I'm going to share with you how to add this sticker message which is erasable using chalkboard vinyl. Back to Cricket Design space. If you go to the left panel and click on the shapes icon, there are various shapes that you can use. I'm going to choose this one for my message. I'm going to adjust the size to fit my muk. You can just hide the rest of the image. Then go to the top panel and hit Make. On the next page, I'm going to change the material size to 30.5 by 30.5 M. We're going to set the base material to chalkboard, vinyl, set default for the pressure, and we are ready to prepare the material. Place the material on top of the standard crip mat. Use the scraper to make sure that the material attached properly onto the mat. You can use chalk marker to write the message. That's it, This is how the final product looks like. Thank you so much for watching. I hope you enjoy this tutorial on how to design a personalized mark from scratch using your cutting machine. I had so much fun creating this project and I can't wait to see what you'll make at home. Please do share with me your creation onto the project gallery so other students can share feedback and we can inspire each other.
