1. Introduction: Hello there, I am
pathetic per done. And I am a digital
design expert. And I have been working in the design industry
for the past decade. In this course, we're
going to take a look at how we can use Canva free to use online tool to create animated graphics posters
and design graphics. We are going to learn how
we can start a new project, adding different
elements in the design, and add an animations and export our designs in various
formats as well. So let's get started.
2. Rough Plan: In this course, we
are going to focus on how to make an animated
graphics booster. For an example project, what I'm going to do is create an animated graphics
booster for, let's say, a tech, a Tech Fest. So to do that, before diving into the
actual software itself, that is, we are going to use Canva for all of our designs. It's better to actually go around and take a pencil
and a paper or take a drawing software
according to how you like and then design
freely on that first, because as soon as you
get onto the tool, then you might limit, you might, you might start limiting your thinking on what
can be designed. So let's say what I
want is I'm going to go around and take a
pencil tool right here. And that's normally
draw a wireframe. So let's say e.g. over
here on the left side, I want it to say Tech
Fest right here. So this is what it
is going to be. So this is going to be Tech Fest right here,
just like this. And let's say this is going
to be in, say left side. And I want everything like, let's see a picture over
here on the right side. And I want it to be
diagonally divided. Dislike this. So
all the information of the Tech Fest would
be on the left side. So this is where all the
pictures will be right here. And maybe I want to throw in a bit of square
boxes right here, making it, Let's see, interesting design right
here, this like this. So this is what I want. And over here, this is
going to be the picture, so tech related
picture right here. So I'm just going
to go around and see In this place right here, we're thinking of rough design. So it doesn't matter even if it is not a very good looking. I'm going to go around over
here, the slide, this. And let's say I
want something like a shape covering the word Tech Fest right here,
the slide deck. So this is going to be
Tech Fest right here. And then I'm going to
go around and let's say I want to add in
something like a date, right? Yeah. So let's say this is going to be 31st of December right here. So this is going to be
30, 31st of December. And let's say this
is going to be 22. I need three right
here. That's like this. So this is going to be the date of the Tech Fest right here. Once this is done, let's say A1, the time of DFS as well. So the time Let's see, the first starts from
10:00 A.M. right here. So this is going to be
the time right here. So ten m is going to be the time right here,
just like this. And let's say on the bottom, I want address right here. So I'm just going
to go around and see a street right here, fifth street right here. And this is going
to be avenue to, so this is just an
imaginary address. This does not actually
exist avenue to, and this is going to be, let's say in the
city of can happen. Alright, so I just made
that up right here. So it can happen right
here, just like this. So let's say this is where
the address is going to be. And I want the address to
be enclosed right here, just like this on a
box itself as well. Let's see, I want to
have an icon like this, where I like, it
denotes that this is a place right
here just like this. Now by giving this information, what happens is
that this is okay, so we have our design right
here, this like this. And we can also further add in other details later
on if we want to, but we have our
rough design ready. As you can see this like this. Also. As per my personal
experience, it is very, very good if you actually go around and
make a rough design first, because once you get
into the software, the tools might limit
your level of creativity. So you need to be
absolutely thinking about what you want before you move on into the tool itself as well. So now this is z and based on that I've designed
that we have, right? Yeah, We're going to
continue our lesson on designing this actual, this actual layout in Canva. And we'll also add an
animation to it to make it more interesting and then
export it in various formats.
3. Starting a Design Project: So now that we have planned a rough layout for how our
design is going to be like, lets us go around onto
designing itself. So to do that, I'm just
going to go around and drag out this design
out of the way. Here you can see that
I am in canva.com. Canva.com is a web-based
design application that is free for you to use. You can also subscribe to a premium plan for
more unlocked fetus. So over here you can
see that I am in the homebase of canva.com
and I am already logged in to get
started so you can create an account and sign
up to get access to Canvas. Once you do that, the first
step is to start a project. So for that it can
go around over here and sets for
different templates. But in our case,
we're going to go around and start
everything from scratch. So we're going to go onto the creative design
section right here. So over here, depending
on what you want, you can go around and select the Custom Size and enter out the resolution,
Let's say e.g. if you are creating a
fullscreen design, Let's see. You can go round type
in 1920 by 1080, visit the resolution for
as the computer monitors. Here you can see that now it's just a desktop
wallpaper calendar or video recording
knee right here. You can also make videos
using Canvas as well. Let me just close
out right here, and you can see that
there's different presets that you can search for. As you can see, what
I'm going to go around and meet is let's
say a Facebook post. So you can see that
depending on that, there is a design right
here, just like this. I'm going to go around
and select this. And what happens is that
it opens up a new window. And there is the design
section, as you can see, on the left side, there is related templates that you can choose for this
particular design. But I'm just going
to go around and skip this because I do not really want to use any
templates right here. Let me just close this out
and this is what you have. You have the canvas
as you can see. So now what we can
do is we can start designing our content
and in further videos, that is exactly what
we're going to do and move on with
our design project.
4. Adding Text: Now let's continue
with our project. So now this is what we
had designed initially. And there are some texts, as you can see right
here that says Tech Fest right here,
just like this. There's 31st, December 2020, 03:10 A.M. and 5th Street Avenue avenue to in Hatton right here. So you can see that
this is a picture, it's not a text right
here as we plan, so we're just going to
go around and start adding those texts,
particularly over here. So to do that, on the left side, you can see texts is an option. And here you can choose
from one of the presets, as you can see right here. In our case, we're
going to go around and choose a heading of simple
heading right here itself. And then later design it out
according to how we want. Let's go round and click on, add a heading right here. And then over here I'm
going to go around and type in Tech Fest right
here, just like this. So this is what you have. So tech's deck Feste
is the text we want right here and over
here on the bottom, we want 31st, December 2020, 03:10 A.M. so over here I'm going to click
on Add a sub-heading, and I'm going to go
around over here and type in 31st December. So I'm just going to go
around right here in the 31st, December right here. So DEC I need 23 right here, just like this and press enter. And over here I'm going to
say 10:00 A.M. disliked this. So this is what you
have as you can see. So now what you can also do is you can left align this as you
can see right here. And this is what he had that
first 31st, December 2020, 03:10 A.M. so after that, we need another text
right here on the bottom. So this is what we plan, that is fifth street avenue
to can happen right here. Lets us go around and add in a smaller text and
typing the same thing. I'm going to go round
and see 5th Street. And I'm just going
to go around and type in fifth street bike
here just like this. And I'm going to say oven
new tool right here, the slightest press comma. And then I'm going to say
can Hatton right here again, Hatton dislike that this is going to be the address
and I'm just going to go around and move it on to the left side like
this, like this. So you can just go round and
click and drag this down. And these are all of the
texts that is going to be there in our
design. And that's it. So this is the first step. And usually it's good to get all the important elements that you initially
planned to be here, like the texts that
is very important. We kept it here. So now we can go
round and further design out and add
in more elements. So that is what we're
going to do next.
5. Adding Elements: So we now have
added in the text, as you can see right here. And as per our plan, we need to go round, add in a square box right here, this like this, and a square
box over here as well. That is three square boxes, as you can see right here
on the picture side. And over here on the left side, we need a square box over here to cover up the text
attack fast as well. So that is what we are
exactly going to do, right? Yeah. Inset out different
elements or shapes. What it can do is you can go and the elements right
here and here, there are many
different elements that you can insert actually. And you can go round
OB care sets were, let's say for something
like a computer, press enter and what happens is that relevant icons pop up. So like I said, when you're actually designing, you don't have to keep it exactly as how you
plan initially, you can make team
this as you design, long because as you, as the design progresses, you might want to teens
out how things look. Let's us go around with
the initial design right now and add in
the different elements. That is square boxes and a line that divides out the
text from the mean picture. So to do that, I'm going to go around under elements itself. And here you can see
lines and sleep is an option apart from different
graphics that you can set. And you can also go around
them here, sets right here. Then let me just go around and stick to the simple
thing, right? Yeah. So I'm going to go around, use a simple square box
right here just like this, and just click and drag. And you can go around and resize out the text box
over here as well. Actually the textbox
is simple right here, and then you can see
that it actually covers up the
background of the text. Now, you can see
that on the top, I can change the color
of the text box as well. So I can go around that
is seep right here. You can go around to the lighter color and
that is what you have. As you can see, usually the
boxes that you bring in, that is the seats, maybe on the top of the text
as well sometimes, but usually it is at the back. But if you were to go
around onto position, you can bring it forward
as you can see right here, meaning it via Texas at
the back right here. But it can go around
and the position and send it backward over here
and it's like this as well. You can also right-click
and bring it forward, or bring it to the
front right here, or send it to the
back right here, send it backward,
or send it to back. To send it to the back most area by
right-clicking over there. So we got our shape, as you can see right
here, dislike this. And I want this shape to just cover up the tech
specs as you can see. And I don't want this
particular date to be covered. So this is what we
have right here. And then we want the same
box right here as well. So we can just go round over here and you can see
that this is the same. We can go round and then copy and paste this out right
here, just like this. Or what you can do is
utilize shortcut keys. Usually using shortcut
years is better. Lot of the cases as
per my experience, because it makes the workflow
much more faster as well. So to know the shortcuts, you can right-click here. You can see that for copy is Control C and for
paste control V. So let's just go
around and do that. I'm going to press Control
C on my keyboard Control V, and it quickly paced out the c. So I'm just going to
go around and keep it over here on this area. And I'm going to go
around onto position and send it backward right
here, just like this. And you can see that I have
this saved over here as well. So I need a sip to actually hold everything
diagonally right here. And you can see that there are different shapes that you
can actually use right here. This seems perfect. What do you can also do is bring out this shape right
here, just like this. And then you can utilize this little icon to rotate
it out over here as well, and then resize it out from the side as you
can see right here. Or you can bring in different shapes over here
like this one as well. So you can bring this
one out right here, and you can see that it perfectly
meets this out as well. You can simply resize it, place it wherever you want
right here, just like this. Let me just pull this out
then you can see that I have this aspirin, how I wanted. Let's just go around and teens the color of the
safer bet right here. Let me just go around, see us. Let's see say a gene that
around over here onto a bit darker color
or brighter color right here are dark
itself as well. But let me just go
around and select this. Or I can go around and select the custom color from here
to choose a lighter color. So initially with this, trying to collect all the
elements that we went design, and we're not actually trying to make the design look
good as of now. So you just have this. So we're going to go
around and right-click and send this to
back right here. So this is what we have. As you can see, we have our initial design
elements ready. So now the next part is we work around
with the background, adding the images and further
progress with our design.
6. Adding and Working with Background Image: Now that we have got our elements right
here on our design, Let's work around and add
in a background image. So to add in a background image, you can upload your
own images or you can choose from what is
available right here. If you want to upload
your own image, you can go to upload right here. And then over here you can
see Upload File is an option. You can also drag here, or upload or connected account to Google
Drive or Dropbox or Facebook and even
Instagram right here and get images from that. But in my case, e.g. I'm going to click
on Upload File. And once I do that over here, I'm just going to go
around onto my desktop where you can see that I have a picture for
monetary, right? So let me just go around, select it and click on open. And what happens is that
the monitor image is here. So now you're not
done with this. You need to actually go around and bring this in right here. And you can see that
I have this image. I can resize this place it rotated and place
it wherever A1. But I want this image as
a background right here. And to set it as a background, you can go around and right-click and set him
as, as a background. And then you can see that it becomes a background right here. Once that is done, you can also right-click right
here and then detach, detach it from
background right here. Just like this, I right-click and set it as
background as well, or double-click right
here to re, position it. As you can see, the
advantage of replacing it as a background is
that it covers up the entire space right
here, just like this. But if you don't
want the images, this image as a
background and want to use the one that you are
that are available here. You can go round onto the
elements section right here, and over here you can see that there are many
options right here. So let me just go around
and see technology, right cantons, let's
see what pops up. You can go around onto photos, and the one without
the crown or the one's free to use In this, go around and choose
the one you like. I'm just going to go
around right here. So let's see. If I want to use this, I can bring in right-click and then replace
background, right? Because it's like this. So you can see that
this is what you have, but you can go round onto something else right
here just like this. Let's see. I'm just going to go around over here and bring in
something else. So let's just go around and
let's say I want to use this. I can just go round and
replace the background, right? He has this like this.
So that is what you can do as you can
see right here. You can go around
and replace out the background according
to how you want. But I want the initial
background itself. So let's go around
onto uploads and bring this out right here and then
replace the background. But I'm just going to go
around and then drag this out a bit towards the
right, right here. And this is what you
have, as you can see, that is how you can
add in the background. You can also make
the team does to the background according to
how you want right here. So you can go around and then resize it as you
can see right here, place it anywhere you want, right here, and that's it. So you can go around, edit out the image over here as well, and apply different
effects to it. Right-click and go around and
select different effects. As you can see, you
can make it solar. You can go round,
increase the intensity, decrease the
intensity right here. Just like this. You can also increase
the contrast because of the contrast work around
with the brightness. The teens around the look. As you can see em, it can also work around with
this saturation, as you can see right there. You can select from different
effects right here. So you can go around and apply, Let's see, this
effect right there. And then what happens is that, that effect can be
applied right here. This like this, as you can see, let me just go round and then remove it because I
do not want that. Let me just go round, keep it as it is right here. So there's an error
and this is normal. So let me just go around, reload this piece right here. So once we do that at the three loads and
sometimes that happens, the Internet connection
actually disconnects and then maybe the server
is not thinking. So you do have a run into those problems
and that is novel. Once this is done, you can see that
there's the background. You can go around
mixed, attain this right here onto edit images. Then you can experiment around with different
things right here. But in my case, we have the, we have the design that
we want right here. So now we'll continue on into refining the elements
that we have right here.
7. Changing Text and Element Colors: So over here you can see that we have our initial design ready. But what I want to do is I want to change up the text tool, bright colors and the shapes
right here to dark colors. So 40 shape that I
have right here. Let me just select it
and I'm going to go around onto color and
select dark for this. But once you do
that, K can see that the text is not seen anymore. So I'm going to
select all the text. And over here on the top, I can go to text color to white. Similarly, over here you can see that this is the Tech Fest. This shape right
here. I can go around and change it to something
like blue right here. Maybe this color blue is good. So what it is doing is
based on the background, it has generated some colors
for me to use as well, which is quite handy. I'm going to go around over
here and for deselect me, select a darker
color right here. Once I do that, I can go
around and then select out, let's say white for this. And I can go around and select
white for this as well. So once I do that, what happens is that most of
them become white. Once I go around over here, I can go around and teens the texts over here as
well do more matte. So theme of Tech Fest. Let me just go around
and do that with the way the font
over here as well. Once I go around over here, I can just go around
and select out. Let's see. This one right here, or maybe something
else like right, yeah, like this one. And you can see that similarly, the text is applied. So you can go around over here and go for quicksand
over here as well, then you can see that
that textile is applied. Let me just go around, resize
it because I do not need anything more I can I can go
around over here as well. And I'm just going to go around and add in
quicksand as well. Usually when you're
designing, it's not a good, a good idea to have more than two type of fonts or maximum
three types of fonts. So I'm just going
to keep title as one and the rest as
the same fonts, right? Yet, that is because the
more the font there is, the design actually
looks much more messy compared to simple. So it can go around over here. And also let's say
I have this heap. Let's say I want to view the background a bit so I can go around and make it
transparent as well. So to do that, you
can go around over here on the transparency and decrease out the transparency so that you can see the
background as well. Let me just go around and try doing the same
over here as well. So let me just go
around over here onto the transparency and you can see that I can make that transparent over here
just like this as well. Lets us go around and do the
scene with this as well. So I'm just going to go around
over here on transparency. Decrease the
transparency right here. To give it an interesting look, I'm just going to copy this. I'm just going to copy
this and paste this. And you can see that
a copy has been made. Let me just go around
onto the texts and bring it forward right
here, bring it to front. And I can go around and keep the SIP dislike this
for the background. I can go around
emptying the color to something else like
this as you can see. And you can see that now, immediately we have a style for the Tech Fest
title area right here. Let me just use the arrow keys
to nudge it down as well. It can go around and do a
similar thing for this as well. But let's say I'm just
going to go around, keep it simple right here. And then I'm going to go around, click on over here, and then let me
just go around and degrees at the Transparency
art, increase this outright. Yeah, there you go. So I also want an
icon right here. That is, I want an
address like icon, like a pin icon. So let me just go around
over here and say pin, and let's see if
we have bin icon. So this is what I
wanted as you can see. So I can just bring
that out right here. And they go, we have the
pin icon over here as well. So I'm just going to keep
it right around over here. And then let's us go around since the color of
this right here. So you can see that the pin icon is scared in noting that
this is an address. And you can see that
it says Tech Fest. So now you have this
as you can see, and then let me just go around another over here
on the left side, right here, this like this. I'm not going to try keep it too much close to the S
because usually as, as might be cut off in
screens and even print. So it's a good idea to
not keep the text are important elements
towards the end of the designs
that you may have. You can go around,
resize it like this to make it much more
interesting as well. And the eagle, you can see
that only this part is being cupboard so you don't really need to expand
it all the way. Or you can do this as well. Have a different type of design, but let me just go around, keep it right till over here. So once this is done, you can see that I got the
important elements in, but this seems a bit empty. So let me just go around, select out these areas
and drag this down. So for the shape, I'm
just going to drag it up, keep it at the original
place and let's go round onto Fifth Avenue. Drag it upright here
just like this. And this is what you have
right here, just like this. So that is the Tech Fest
and you can see that this is what you have
to scoot around, sift, select all of them right here, and I can right-click and
group them out as well. Once we group it,
what happens is that it becomes a
single element. We can ungroup it out
over here as well. But let me just go
round, increase the size right here,
just like that. So it covers up more of
the space right here. So once you do that, let me just go
around teens around the time of a heads
is like this as well. Align it to the texts that we have right here,
and there you go. We have this. Let
me just go around and group this out
over here as well. So once we do that, we can see that this
is what you have. But I accidentally grouped
out the background as well. So it's I1 to ungroup. And I'm just going to go round and then send this
to back, right? Yes. So let me just go down,
send this to back. And I'm going to select these
are only and group it up. They can go around
and resize it. And this is what you have as
you can see, this like this. So now we have our than a complete as
you can see right here. And you can keep on adding in more elements as
you, as you want. So you can go around,
select this, select this. Let me just go around, keep it right around in the center, right here, this like this
right around in the center. And this is what you
have, as you can see. That is how you
can change around the texts and even
the element color and then manners out via elements properly to get
the effect you like. So you can see that I have the background as
well. And I got this. Let me just go around
and then let's say I want to
ungroup it so I can ungroup it out over here
as well at the end so that you can still work around
with individual elements. Let me increase the transparency because that seems distracting. So that is what you
have right here. So that is how you
can work around with the deans and
changing of text and the elements color
inside of Canva and then refine your
design even more.
8. Adding Animations: So over here what we
have is a still design. So to make it interesting, we can add in an
emissions to that. And to do that, you can see that I have different
layers right here. I have nothing in group. So once everything is
in a different layer, it's easy to animate all
of the elements at once. So to do that, you can
click outside and you get the Animate button over
here on the top-left. As you can see, you can go around and click on this button. Over here. You can
see that I can have different types of
animations right here, like simple, like
sleek right here. As you can see, that
it's fun right here. As you can see,
you can go around and choose the
animation you'd like. You can go around and
hover over as you can see, to get the, get
the animation and apply the animation
you'd like right here. So let me just go around over
here and see what I have. And this seems much more dynamic with background for
the movement as well. So let's see, this is
what I want right here. And for the exaggeration, there is no background movement. So I'm going to go
around and have something with a
background movement right here as you can see, and choose the one you like. Let's say I liked
the photo zoom. So all I need to
do now is click. And that animation
has been applied, as you can see right here. And you can see that the
animation is 5 s long, so you can go around
and increase out the timing to more as well. So once you increase the timing, if you want to see
the preview of it, you can press the play button
over here on the top-right. And you can see the
overall animation as you can see the slight desk. And there you go. This is how the
final design looks like after adding
in the animation, it is much more dynamic
and interesting. As you can see this like this. You can also go round
toggle full-screen and play it from the beginning. Dislike this as well. And you can see the
background movement, this comes up from the
beginning and so forth, which is much more interesting rather
than a steel design.
9. Exporting Project: So here we have
our final design, and now let's see how we can export out this design
in various formats. So to do that, you can go around over here
onto the section on the top. Here you can see
Download as an option. So if you were to
go around over here onto the download section, then Kagan see that you
can select a file type. You want to download this n. So if you want all of the animations that is
applied right here, then you may want to
select MP4 video format right here with just suggested as you can see this like this. So if I were to go around
and click on Download, then what happens is
that it processes and MP4 video format right
here, just like this. And then once the
process is finished, it'll get downloaded
onto your computer. You can see now that it is almost completed
downloading right here. That is, It's almost up
and it's processing. And once that is done, what happens is that
it'll then read out an MP4 video file that
can be downloaded. It will automatically do that. So all you need to
do is just weak. And depending on the length of the file and the
size of the file, it might take awhile,
which is normal. So now you can see
that the download is started right here. So if I were to exit out
of full screen over here, you can see that it is being downloaded right
here, just like this. Once that is done, you can go around over
here onto, let's say e.g. onto the Share option. Once again, you can go
around onto download and then you can select out P and Z format for
download as well. So for graphics such as this, you may want to select b and z, which is a better format. But for pictures, that is, with a lot of details, you might want to
select JPEG because pictures are mostly
better with tape, easy. I'm just going to select PNG because there is
graphics right here. So let me just go around
and click on Download. You can also go around and
select the size if you're using a premium version
of Canva right here. So let me just go round
and download and you can see that it generates
out a PNG file. And since PNG file does not have any animation information, you can see that it quickly
gets downloaded by kept. You can go around onto the share section and you
can go around onto download. And over here you can see
you can also go around onto Jeff and click on
Download right here. Then what happens
is it dendrites out a zip file may contain
an emission as well. So you can see that it is
being generated right here. It is taking a bit
of time because the animation information is being shared over there as well. If you went to go around
onto share right here, you can see that there are
many more options like there is a PDF Standard by careful
PDF print right here, and so forth over here as well. So that is what he
can do right here. So if I were to go
around onto download, you can see that this is
what you have right here, that is PNG format. So if I were to open this, this is what you see right here. This is simply an image
that is downloaded. So now you can post this onto different social medias
according to how you want. But in our case, this
is for Facebook. So we can go around and
paste this and Facebook. You can go around over here. And then you can see that
MP4 format is here as well. So if I were to click on this, you can see that this
is what you have right here and there is an animation. So now what we can do
is you can go around and then boost this in Facebook with the
movement as well. And that is how you
can go around and export out your project and z. So we have come to the
end of the course, and then we have covered up how we can roughly
plan a project from the beginning and
then export it out as a final video with animation or a still image
according to how we want.
10. Goodbye: We have now come to the
end of the scores and we have successfully made
the design right here. This is an animated
graphics design right here, just like this, and we
have completed this. So now you are to do the same. So you need to think of an
event of your choice and then make an animated graphics
for that particular event. And add an essay background
images right there. You need to add in
shapes and text, and then adding animations, export them in
different formats. So I'd like to see
what you come up with. So do be sure to send me out your designs that you meet all
the best for your project. And you can see the project description for more details on what
you have to do.
