1. 0. Promotion: Hello to crochet enthusiast. In this tutorial, we're
going to learn how to crochet a beautiful,
elegant mermaid. Will teach you this
beautiful LDL from the beginning so that
you can enjoy having it. We crochet this cute little one using only single crochet. And it has simple
but useful tips. Daddy will learn
during the tutorial. You'll learn the method
of crocheting hair that can be used for any
other LDL as well. Let's created with the hands
of your own artistic spirit.
2. 1. Mermaid tail crochet (increasing stitches): Hello. We're going to start our
mermaid crochet together. In order to do that, we're going to start
from the two tails. So basically we
are going to work two tails and then attach
them together from the top so we can make
the lower body part of our mermaid for working detail. First, of course, we
create a magic ring. And then we work six single
crochet inside of our ring, one chain and five
others single crochet. After we've created
our ring and we want to start to work on
our single crochet. The first train that we create, actually that would go
as a single crochet. We work a chain as
a single crochet, and the next single crochet in the rest would
be five altogether, they would be six. The beginning of each row. We should work chains as the
amount and as the length of the stitches that we're
going to work in that row. E.g. if it was a single
crochet, one chain, if it was a half double
crochet two chain and it was, if it was a double crochet, three chains would be created
in the beginning of R0. Then after that we'll
tighten the ring and then I attach the last stitch to
the first chain that we had, which means that we
work is slip stitch. And then in the next row
we should have increasing. We had six stitches
in our first row, and these stitches should
become eight in the second row. How are we going to do that? First, I work a single crochet
inside of my first stitch. In the second stitch, I work to single crochet. And then after dad, I work two single crochets, simply meaning that inside
of each one of them, I would have only
one single crochet. And then again after those two, in the next stitch, I work to single crochet. And then again the next two
would be worked simply. Then again, I attached a last
stitch to the first chain, which means that I
work a slip stitch. Then for the third row, I work at chain and inside
of the first stitch, I work one single crochet. Inside of my second stitch. Again, I work to single crochet. And then I actually work simply for the next
three stitches. It means that in
each one of them, I only work one single crochet. And in the next one, which would be
actually the fourth. In the fourth stage, I worked to single crochet. In each row we will have
two extra stitches. Then again, the rest
of them will be worked simply till
the end of the row. Again, I work as
slippers stitch. Okay. Now the distance between our increasing stitches
started with two stitches and it should go to a too
such as between each of the increasing is
stitches and extra ones. So you see right from
the beginning with started increasing
on the two corners, citrus side stitches
or corner stitches. So in next row, again, I work simply
for the first, we have increasing your
stitches in the next one, it means that inside
of my next stitch, I work to single crochet. In our previous row, we worked three stitches simply, it means working one single
crochet in each one of them. And in this row we work
for is stitches simply. And then in the fifth stage, I work to single crochet. Again, the rest of them will be worked simply till
the end of the row. And then I work as
slippers stitch. Then in next row, again, I work one stitch simply. Then in the next stitch I
work to single crochet. And now in this row we are going to work five stitches simply. In the previous row we had
worked for stitches simply, but in this row we are
actually going to work five is stitches simply meaning that one single crochet in each stitch. Then in the next stitch I
work to single crochet. Then again, the rest
of them will be worked simply till
the end of the row. Then we actually
work as slip stitch. Again. I work one is to simply,
in the next one, again, I work to
single crochet stitch. In the previous row we had five stitches simply in
this one we have six. So I work six stitches simply, it means that in
each one of them, I work only one single crochet. In the next one, again, I were to single
crochet and then we continue simply till
the end of the row. And as you can see, our work is getting bigger.
3. 2. Continuation of the tail crochet (decreasing stitches part): Okay, In the next row, after that we've worked
one increasing stitch. We should work seven
stitches simply. So they increasing goes on. And the stitches between our two increasing is up to
seven is stitches now. Then in the new row, first I work as stitch simply. And then in the next stitch we will have increasing
the stitches. It means that I work to single crochet stitches between two increasing your stitches, which means that we
should work them simply is going to be eight. The side stitches
would have increasing. It means that inside
of them we should actually work to single crochet. So you see, right
from the beginning we started increasing
on the two corners, citrus scientists stitches
or corner stitches. And then the stitches
between them, uh, started 2-8, that we
work them simply. Okay. Where do we go to
these eight stitches? In the middle, I had increasing on the
sides and corners and these stitches in-between
got increased in each row. We got to eight
stitches over here. Now, from here on, we don't have increasing the
stitches in the next rows. It means that instead
of each stitch, we only work one single crochet and that's it now increasing. Obviously no decreasing
for nine rows. And after these nine rows, we will have two rows of
decreasing as stitches. So we can make this
shape for our work after you've created and
work two tails like this, we are going to continue
the rest of the body. So in the continuous of that, you should work nine rows
without any increasing.
4. 3. Mermaid body crochet: After our nine rows
that we worked simply. In the last two rows,
we have decreasing. We work to as such as simply. And then the third and the
fourth is stitches would be worked together as one
till the end of the row. I'll continue the same way. In the next row. Inside a one stage, I work one single crochet, and then I work the second and the third stitches together. And I'll continue like that
till the end of the row. As you can see,
after you've created these two parts of
your mermaids tails, you should actually put them together and attach
them from above. I start right from here
to top off my tail. And inside of each one of
the previous roses stitches, I work one single crochet. And when I go to the side
and the corner of my work, I put the next tail right
next to it and I start from its first stitch and I work single
crochet inside of it. In this way, the two tails
will get attached together. Then again, I work
simply for one row. As you can see on
our second tail, I worked simply for one row. And then again, from this side, I attach these two
tails together. It means that in the
back of this tail, again, I work single crochet. So the two rows will be complete and the two
tails are attached. Then I'll continue working for one more row,
simply off course. And here we are. In the last row of our tails. We had ten single crochet
and the stitches on one tail and another
ten on the other one. That actually when we attach these two parts
of details together, it became 20 overall. And then we worked simply
for one row as well. And now in this row
we are going to have some increasing
of stitches. First, you should work
three is stitches simply. Then after that you'll
have an increasing and then you'll continue
that till the end of your. And then again, I worked
three stitches simply. And the fourth is search. We'll have to single
crochet worked in it. That will be an increasing
as stitch and I'll continue my work this way
till the end of the row. And then after that, you should work for two rows simply without any increasing. Okay? I've also done my
two simple rows. In the next row, you should work for
such as simply. And inside of the fifth stage, I work to single crochet. Again, we will have in
increasing the stitch like that. And then again we'll continue
until the end of the row. And then again, we will
work two rows simply. Alright, I've done my
two simple rose again, and now in the next row I worked five single
crochet simply. And then inside of
the sixth stitch, I work to single crochet that one of them is
increasing, of course. And then again in this row, I'll continue this way till
the end of the row and the next two rows will be worked simply
without increasing. In this row, I work
six stitches simply. And then in the seventh stitch, I work to single crochet, which gives us, are
increasing over here. I'll continue till
the end of this row. Now from this row, we have one increasing
row and one simple row. In this row, I work
seven stitches simply. And then in the eighth stitch, I work to single crochet, which means it's my
increasing stitch. And again, seven simple stitches as much as you want the lower body part of your
mermaid to get bigger, you should increase
your increasing rows. It means that you should
continue your increasing rows. This row I worked seven
single crochet and as such as simply and I had
an increasing of stitches. In the eighth stitch, I do one more row of sample.
5. 4. Completing the doll's body: We work eight stitches simply. And again inside of
the ninth stage, I work to single crochet, which means it has one
increasing stitch. The next row, I'll work simply, ok. Now if you want to
have increasing like that and you also want the lower body part
to be a stretched out. Instead of working
one row simply, you can work two rows simply in order to make it
more stretched out. So if you work two rows
simply in-between, you're increasing rows, the lower body part would be bigger and a stretched
out as well. So if you do it as I do, it means one simple row
in-between are increasing rose, but it gives you a medium size. Okay, I've continued my working until the point that
my simple stitches, it means that the
stitches which have one single crochet inside of
them are up to number 15. So I work 15 is such as simply working one single
crochet in each one of them. And then inside of
this 16th stitch, I work to single crochet, which was increasing of course. Now after that your
number goes up to 15. Over here you should continue. You're working for five rows simply without any increasing. If you want the
lower body part to be bigger and bigger size, you know that you should
actually add to the numbers. And two, you're
increasing rows that I've already told you in the
beginning of this video as well. Okay, Now, after that
I've done five rows. Simply. I'll change my yarns color
and I'll get color which I want to use for the arms
and the head of our doll. Now you can use
obviously light colors for the upper body part, specifically, her
head and her arms. I have to work five rows
simply with my blue color. And then after that, I'll continue this same
working simply for five rows, but I'm going to use
a different color, preferably a light
color which I am going to use for her
upper body part. You see, now we've done ten rows is simply five
of them with blue color. And five of them
was with the color that I want to use for my
mermaids or per body part. Okay, now, after we've done
these five rows, simply, we are going to Do decreasing stitches
in all of the rows. We're working with
our blue color. The last row that
we had increasing, we actually worked 15
is stitches simply. And inside of our 16th stitch, we worked to single crochet. Alright, Now from here on, from the sixth row of
our lighter color, It's like that I worked
15 is stitches simply. And then I work the 16th
and 17th stitches together, make them as one. It means that I have one
decreasing over here. So I worked 15 is to just simply working one single
crochet in each one of them. And now I work the 16th and the seven things
stitches together. Again, I'll continue. I work 15 stitches simply working one single
crochet inside of each stitch. And then again, won decreasing will continue like this till the end of the row. And in the next row, we will work for teen
is stitches simply, the 15th and 16th stitches
will be worked together. Again, as I said, we will continue this decreasing
of stitches in all of the rows until we get to
the part that we work, 11 is stitches, simply one
single crochet in each one. And then I worked at 12th and 13th stitches
together as one. In our previous row, our procedure was like that. I worked 15 is stitches simply, and then I worked the 16th and 17th as sutures
together in this row, I worked for teen
stitches simply. And then the fifth one. And the 16th is stitches will be work together as you can see. And then we continue our working like that till
the end of the row. So in the next row, I work. 13 is to just simply meaning one single crochet
in each one of them. And then the 14th and 15th, so stitches are worked
together and we will continue the same way
till the end of the row. Ok, now, in our new row, I worked tool the
stitches simply then to the 13th and 14th stitches
are worked together. It means that we'll have
one decreasing as such, and we'll continue that
until the end of the row. The next row, I work
11 is stitches simply. It means that I work one single crochet in each
one of these stitches, and then I worked at 12th and 13th, uh,
stitches together. Again, I continue till the end of the row
that we will have 11 simple stitches and 12th and 13th will
be worked together. Before you move on to the next rose and
continue your decreasing. You can actually feel inside
of the body with fibers. So as we move on decreasing, our work will be closed
off and it would be harder for you to feel
inside of the body. There may not be possible or
it might get harder for you. Okay? Now, in this row we work
simply for one row. It means that one single
crochet in each stitch, and then again, in the next
rows we will have decreasing. So again we can make the
neck and the shoulders. Okay, in this row we only
have two decreasing stitches. It means that one decreasing
will be on one side of the neck and another would be on the other side of the neck. Basically, on both corners. We only have two decreasing as stitches on the sides
and the corners. We work the rest of the stitches simply with one single
crochet in each one of them. After that, again,
makes sure that you feel inside of the
body with fiber. And you don't need to do it
for inside of the tails. You just need to do it to
fill inside of its body. Now, if you want this area
to be stretched out a bit more after each decreasing
rho that you had, you should work
simply for one row. If you want your
mermaid to be taller and you want its body to be
stretched out a bit more. But if like me, you want it to have a
shorter upper body part, like what I have here, you should have decreasing
in all of the rows. You don't need to work one
row simply in between them, between the decreasing ones. Now we go to the top and we want to start working on the neck. In this room, I work
simply for one stitch and then I actually work the second and the third
is stitches together. Then I'll continue the same
way till the end of the rows. So I worked one stitch simply. Then I work the second. And the third is
stitch together. Just like that, we're
actually decreasing the upper body part of our LDL and we are shaping the neck. Okay, we had decreasing
and the last row, we worked one single crochet
in the first stage and the second and the third
stage where worked together. Now I want to work
two rows simply over here without any increasing and without any decreasing, of course, would
be for the neck. Again, I emphasize that before
you complete your work, you should definitely
make sure that you feel your body with fiber
and you should not leave any empty spaces
inside of the body. And it will actually
keep its posture.
6. 5. Mermaid arms crochet: Alright, now into
continuous of our work, we are going to work our dolls, hands and arms that
inside of our magic ring, rework six single crochet. And then in the second row, we should actually increase three stitches to
our hola stitches. And then I will have almost 20 rows from the
first row to the last row. So for starters, first, I create a magic
ring inside of it. I work six single crochet. Of course. I'll work one chain which
goes as one single crochet. And after that, I'll work five more single
crochet altogether. They would be six. And then I work as
the pestis here. I work in other chain. I work one single crochet
inside of my first stitch, and then inside of
the second stitch, I work to single crochet, again, one single
crochet stitch. The next one would be
increasing inside of the Nexus stage work
to single crochet. Then again, I work
one stitch simply. And the next one I work to single crochet in
the next stitch. Then I work a slip stitch. And now the number
of our stitches are actually nine and I would not
have any more increasing. And then we'll continue
working for 18 rows. Simply, it means that inside of each stitch will have
only one single crochet.
7. 6. Head crochet: Okay, Now we're going to start working on
our doll's head. First of all, we create a
magic ring and inside of our magic ring in the eye will actually work six
single crochet. I work at chain which goes
as our first single crochet. And then in the
continuous of that, I worked five more
single crochet. Then I stretch my yarn, making my ring titan. Now I attach the last
stitch to the first chain, meaning I work a slip stitch. Now in this row, inside of each one of the
stitches of our previous row, we work to single crochet. So our six single crochet
would be 12 in this row. Then I attach the last
stitch to my first one. So basically I work
a slip stitch. In the next row. I work one stitch, simply meaning that one
single crochet in my stitch. And then in the next
stitch I work to single crochet in our third row. Every other stitch we have
one increasing a stitch. And it will continue like
that till the end of our row. Into fourth row, I
worked two stitches, simply meaning that one single crochet in our
first two stitches. Then inside of our third stitch, I work to single crochet. So it means that we have
one increasing as stitch. Again inside of the
next two stitches, I work one single
crochet in each, and in the next one, which would be the third. Again, I work to
single crochet in it. And we will continue like
that till the end of the row. Now, in our fifth row, we work three stitches simply. And in the fourth stitch
I work to single crochet. That would be my
increasing again. We'll continue
this increasing in each row and we actually
increase the number of our stitches while
doing it as much as we want our doll's
head to be big. Okay. I've continued working on my
doll's head and now I'm in dynein throw in D9 through
we worked seven stitches, simply one single
crochet in each stitch. And then inside of the
eighth stitch we worked to single crochet are increasing
was from the second row. It was one. At first. It became 2345. And now in denying throw we
have seven stitches simply. And then inside of
the eighth stitch, we worked to single crochet. Now from here on, we should work for seven
rows without an increasing. So from the tenth row
until the 16th row, we work without any
increasing and we work simply with the same
number of stitches. It means that inside of each stage we work
one single crochet.
8. 7. Head crochet (decreasing stitches part): Okay, we've done our rows
which were worked simply. I worked seven rows simply, if you want your head to be
taller or more stretched out, you can even continue working
simply till ten rows. But because we actually
have a small body, you don't need a very big head. But if you have a bigger body, you can continue your working. And you have ten rows simply. So that depends on
the size of your LDL. Okay, Now we want to
start on this second half of our doll's head,
the upper part. And for that, we're going
to do decreasing stitches. Basically I'm going to
work seven is stitches, simply one single
crochet in each stitch. And then I worked at eighth
and ninth is stitch together. So this way we will have one decreasing
stage, step-by-step. The width of our doll's head
would be less and less. I'll continue the same way
till the end of my row. So I work seven stitches simply. It means that inside
of each one of them, I worked one single crochet. I worked at eighth and
ninth as stitches together. I worked in next row simply without any decreasing
and increasing. And basically in all the
upper part of the head, we work one row simple and simply and then we
have one row decreasing. I've done my decreasing
and my simple row. And now again, I'm in the
second decreasing row in here. I worked six stitches simply, and then I worked as seventh and eighth is stitches together. I worked a seventh and
eighth is stitches together. Again, I'll continue
like that until the end of the row that we work. Six single stitches, so loaded one single crochet
in each stitch. And then I worked the seventh and eighth is
stitches together. And then the next row
will be worked simply. Okay? In the next row, after the simple row, I work five stitches, simply, one single crochet
in each two stitches. So I'll have five
single crochet. And then I worked as sixth and the seventh stitches together, they'll become as one. And here we will have one
decreasing as stitch will continue like that till
the end of the row and the next row will
be worked simply. It's better. Before you continue the
risks of your work. You just feel inside of
the head with a fiber. In this row, I work for single crochet and
for stitches simply. And then I worked the fifth and sixth is stitches together. Can tell you like that
till the end of the row. And then we will have one row. Simply. In this row, I work three single crochet. I work the fourth and the
fifth stitch together. And then we will
actually eliminate that simple row in
the last few rows, means that right from here, the next row would
not be worked simply. In the next row, I worked to single crochet
and then I work the third. And the fourth is
stitches together. Then again, in the next row, I work one single crochet, and then I work the second and the third stitches together and will continue till the end. Now after we've done the
last row, working is done. And the upper part
should have a suing. Place your yarn, the
whole of your needle. And as you can see, the last stitches, or basically the stitches
of our last row. On each one of them. They have two rings of yarn. We get the front loops
with our needle on yarn. And we do it for
all the stitches. We are using the
same yarn as we used for the heads working. So I'm going to pass
my needle through all the front loops of all of my stitches of the last row. And then after you've got all of the Rings with your
needle and yarn, you should stretch
your URL like this. You should pull it so that
the top of your head will be tightened completely and
it will close up. Okay. This is our doll's head, which looks like this. After you've done that, your yarn from here
and make it a steady, then you can cut it off.
9. 8. Doll hair crochet: Okay. Into continuous of
our mermaid work, you are going to create
some hair for her. Okay. I want the color
of my hair to be one or two degrees
darker than the blue that I've used for my dolls. Tail. But you can choose whatever
color that you like. So as you can see,
I've used a light blue for her lower body
parts and her tail. But for her hair, I'm going to use a darker
blue for our hair first, we'll create a magic ring. And after that, I
work two chains to work the hair with
half double crochet. I work eight half double crochet
inside of my magic ring. After we've done our eight
half double crochet, we stretch the yarn, make the circle
and during tight. And then we work as slip stitch. We actually attached
to the last stage, two, the first two
chains that we've got. In the second row, we will have increasing. It means that inside of all this detracts from our previous row, I work to half double crochet. We had eight stitches
in the previous row, and this row, they
will become 16. Okay? Are increasing in the
third row is like that. First, we work only one
half double crochet in the first stage. Then in the next stitch, we work to half double crochet. It means that we will have
one increasing in this row. Every other stitch we will work to half double crochet
and increase one stitch. I'll continue like that
till the end of the row. Ok, now, in the next row
inside of two stitches rework, one half double crochet in each. Then inside of the third stitch, I work to half double crochet. And I'll continue like that
until the end of the row. In the fifth row, I work three half
double crochet simply, it means that in each stitch I work only
one half double crochet. And inside of our fourth
stitch we have increasing, it means inside of it we
work to half double crochet. I'll continue like that
till the end of the row. Three, solo half double crochet. And then inside of
the fourth stitch, I worked to half double crochet. After we've done and
worked our fifth row, we work as slip stitch and then we will work
almost 25 chains. After that, we worked 25 chains. I count three chains
from hook side, and then inside of
our third chain, I work half double crochet. Because we want to show
actually a kind of a curl at the
bottom of the hair. Inside of the first
three chains, you should work to
half double crochet. And inside of the
rest of the chains, you would only work one half double crochet
in each one of them. But in the first three, you will work to half double
crochet in each one of them. For the rest, only one in each. So after I worked my three chains and in
each one of them to half double crochet until
the first chain that is actually attached to the
circular part of the head. Inside of each chain you should work one half double crochet. See, on all of our 25 chains reworked are half double
crochet, one in each. Now in the first
stitch of our base, after this hair, we work
one single crochet. Then again, I worked 25 chains. And then exactly as I did
for the previous one, you will continue
the same process. So the first three chains
inside of each one of them, you should work to
half double crochet. And the rest of the
change inside of them, you should work only one
half double crochet. You should do this for all of these stitches on
your fifth row. And inside of each
stage you should create a part of hair
or strand of hair.
10. 9. Sewing the facial parts - attaching the arms and head to the body: Okay. And as you can see
and as I've explained, we've worked on our doll's hair. As you can see, the hair will look like curls
after you've worked them. They'll just be curly. After you've worked on
the hair completely, you should actually apply, eat glue and then
you can apply it and attach it to the top
of your doll's head. Or you can use a several swings and with
a serverless stitches, you can actually sue
the hair to the head. And it would be better
if you use the color, which is the color of your
hair to do this suing, then you should also stick
or sue the Harris trends all around her head except the ones which are in front
and we'll go to the face, just do them up to 2 cm. I mean that you should
attach them up to 2 cm and the rest will be off. Now for the front part of
the face and the hair. As you can see, we have
three or four strands of hair and then you can
bring them upwards. And that depends on your own personal taste
of how you want hair, hair in the front to be. You can use some
glue around that. Or again, you can sue them. And as I said, it's
better to do that. I mean, it's better
to as stickier hair around the head except a face for about six or 7 cm of the face should be showing. So we shouldn't have
any hair over here. You can apply them to one side or you can take them all up, you can take some of them down and you can bring
them down altogether. That depends on how you want
to style your mermaids hair. We also need two eyes for our doll that we're
going to use, beads on her face for the eyes. And we're actually
going to apply these beads on the rows of 12.13 with a distance of five is stitches
in between them. Then we will glue them into
our face with heat glue. We have glued eyes with
heat glue on our face. On the 12th and 13th row with the distance of five is
stitches in-between them. You should place the
nose between the rows of 11.12 with the same color that
you've used for your face. And you should just
do some stitches and suing on two
of your stitches, going and coming back so that your nose will get some volume
and it would look better. Now for our eyebrows, we come to rows above the eyes. We consider two stitches. You see, it's exactly above
the eye for two rows. I got my yarn out of the stitch. And now I go to
stitches toward left. And just sideways. I will actually stitch or Su, with my yarn twice. Shouldn't be straight,
it should be sideways. And you shouldn't
stretch it too much. And then when you want to
actually hide your yarn, it should go up toward the hair and you can actually hide
it amongst the hair. So just like that, we have our two eyebrows. Okay, for attaching our dolls. Arms from the top of the body
will count for four rows. And in the fifth row, exactly on this
side of the body. We will attach the arms with the same color yarn as
you've done for your body, and of course for your arms. So this will actually
get attached to the body completely. You should fix the
arm in the fifth row. And you'll do the same
for the other arm as well on the side of their body. Okay. We should also attach
our dolls hit to the body. We are going to do it from
the bottom part of the head. So we placed the bottom part
of the head on the neck. And then for suing, first we'll pass the yarn
and the needle through the outer ring of the stitches on our last row will get this, and then we'll pass it through the stitches from the bottom
part of our doll's head. And then we apply them together. So once my needle will go through the stitches on
the last row of the neck. And then it passes through
the stitches of the last and the first and the
bottom row of the head. And it will be attached
just like that. And just remember, you can
actually determine the row that you want to attach to
your biology on the head, you should determine
a row for yourself. E.g. here I've considered
the third row and all of the stitches that I'm passing my needle through
