1. 0. Promotion: Hello to crochet enthusiasts. In this tutorial, we're going to learn how to crochet a cute owl. We will teach you this
beautiful doll from the beginning so that if you're a beginner and don't know
anything about crocheting, you can still crochet this
Joel and enjoy having it. And it has simple
yet useful tips that you will learn
during the training. We learn how to attach two
body parts to each other. Join us now so you can create it with your
own artistic hands.
2. 1. Crochet the bottom of the owl: Hi, we start the tutorial
of double crochet together. In our previous tutorials, we've learned how to
work a single crochet. And we would actually
know that we can use single crochet to create
a whole dolls body. But if you want to actually
crochet in a way that we leave an x mark on
our dolls body. We want to see how we
can do it that we'll use and a crochet hook that
we use should be compatible. And I've actually crochet this
stall with a thinner yarn. We usually use thinner yarns for adults body and of course the hook which is
appropriate to our yarn. But now I'm going to
teach it to you with a thicker yarn and
a bigger hook. So you would understand the way that we are going to crochet. But for the main thing, for our main work, which is our LDL, we're going to do it
with the thin yarn. First, I work a magic ring. I work at chain. The beginning of each row, we should work change as the
amount and as the length of the stitches that we're
going to work in that row. E.g. if it was a single
crochet, one chain, if it was a half double
crochet two chain and it was, if it was a double crochet, three chains would be
created in the beginning of our inside of my ring, I work six single crochets. Then I pull off my yarn. So the center of my circle
would be tightened. Now I attach the last
stitch to the first chain, meaning I work as
slippers stitch. This was actually our first
row of the crocheting. For the second row, after I've crochet made a
slip stitch, I added chain. Now we should work
single crochet twice inside of each one of the
stitches of our previous row. Alright, before crocheting, I told you that we
should do it in a way that we can have an
X shape on our crochet. Now, if the yarn would
be on there to hook, this would be a
journal crocheting. If during our crocheting, the yarn is under the hook, this would be a
journal crocheting and work would actually
have an X shape. But if I get a yarn with my hook from the
ovary of the hook, that X-shaped would not
appear on our work. Say, I'm going to do it
for you several times. So you can see the difference. As you can see, I'm wrapping the yarn over my hook instead
of wrapping it under. See how it looks like. These are the ones which were over the hook and it didn't give us that X shape that we need
for this journal crocheting. But see, if I wrap
the yarn on there, the hook and start crocheting. You can clearly see that X shape or checkered shape on my work. So we need a journal and clean and organized crocheting
and with this shape on it. Okay, As I said before, in the first row, we have worked single
crochet six times. In the second row, we should work single
crochet twice in each one of these stitches
from our previous row. And then from the second row on, I'm going to place another
opposite yarn ride to the next chain
that I've created. I mean, in the next row, I work the chain and then I
place this yarn over here so you would actually identify the beginning
and the end of your row. I placed the new
yarn behind my work. I will not work with this yard. I'll just place
it behind my work so I will not lose the
beginning of my row. And then for
starting to crochet, I worked to single
crochet in each stitch. So the number of my
stitches are six. And if I worked and go crochet twice inside
of each one of them. At the end of this row, I would have 12 stitches. Actually crochet
this second row. Now we are in the third row. Now, in the third row, in one of the stitches
of the previous row, we would have two
single crochets. And on the next one, we would have one
single crochet. Again. Over here we would have two single crochets and
then after that one. So we would have two single
crochets on one stitch. And then after
that we would have one single crochet
on the next stitch. And then you'll continue this way till the end of the row. So this would be
actually our third row. This was my last
stitch over here. Then again, I place this
yarn to the back of my work. And now I'm going to
start the third row. So from inside of
the first stitch, I worked single crochet twice. And on the next message, I worked single crochet
only once again. In the next one, single crochet
twice in a stitch. And the next one would have one single crochet in this
stitch, disliked that. We complete our third row.
3. 2. Crochet the body: We had two single
crochets which we had already worked in
one of our stitches. Now on each one of this
is stitches in this row. In the fourth row, I worked one single crochet. And on this stitch, which is singular and solo, I work a single crochet twice. Just like that, I'll continue. So now it's actually
obvious that in one stage you had
two single crochets. These two single
crochets were actually crochet together in one stitch. So now inside of
each one of them, I worked single crochet once. And then inside of this, I work a single crochet twice. I work a single crochet twice on this stitches
which have been solely and singularly
Chris shade. Just like that, I'll
continue this row. Now when I get to the
fifth row, again, in the first stitch we would
have two single crochets. And then I work a single crochet ones for
the next three is stitches. So again, I say in the first, I would have two single
crochets in the first stage. And for the next
three years, citrus, I work a single crochet
once in each one of them. Say, I have a circle. We had increasing in each row, and this increasing
continues in the next rows. So we can have a bigger circle. The size of the
circle is actually related to the size that
you want your LDL in. As I told you in the fifth row, in the first stitch, I worked single crochet twice. And then after that for
the next three stitches, I worked single crochet
ones in each one of them. Again, I work single crochet
twice in one stitch, and then I work
as single crochet in each one of the
three next stitches. And we'll continue the same
way till the end of the row. Now in the sixth row, in the next row, first, I worked single crochet, once in four stitches. And then inside of
my fifth stitch, I worked single crochet twice. So I would have
increasing again, again for single crochets. So I'll continue till
the wrist of R0. The same way. On the seventh row inside
of our first stitch, I worked single crochet twice. It means that we have
one increasing here. And then I worked single crochet once for the next five stitches. And as we've said
before, on each row, the distance between our
increasing would be more. In the second row, we increase in each one of the stitches from
the previous row. In the next row,
one of our stitches would be single crochet twice, and the next would be
single crochet ones. Then again in the next row, we worked single crochet
twice in one stitch. And then we worked
single crochet once for the next two stitches, mean in each one
of these stitches, we have one single
crochet and next row, single crochet twice in one stitch means that
we have one increasing. And then for three
stitches after that, we will have only one single
crochet in each one of them. In each row that you want to add the number of our
single crochets, or better say sole
single crochets, singular single
crochets would be more until the size that
you want for your circle. And you want it to be bigger. And as much as you increase
the number of euros, you would have a bigger doll that depends on your
own personal taste. That how much do you
want it to be big? After that? You don't
need to add anymore. So we are going to continue our crocheting without
any increasing. And inside of each of the switches that we have
in our previous row, we work single
crochet only once. Work only one single
crochet in each stitch. Again, you should
continue this as much as you want
the height or yes, as much as you want the
height of your doll. And you can even change your colors even
two or three times. That depends on you or
you want to actually want your LDL to
be in one color, you should continue that
till the end of your LDL. When you don't have any
increasing in your stitches, your crochet would
actually go on. It will get height and it
will look like a cylinder. I will also work my eighth row. I worked six single
crochet seemed lands solo. And in the seventh stitch
I have increasing. It means that I work to single crochet inside of
the seventh stitch. Then from the ninth row, I would not have any more increasing and I'll
continue my crocheting. They've learned before
that when we want to change the color of our yarn, we should work slip stitch with my new yarn until I
want it to be over, and then I can start my new row. My new color is pink. So I worked these to less change over my
hook with by new color. So the change of
the colors would be very neat and organized. Now, I have two extra yarns
over here and I don't want it to be visible
from behind my work, so I also don't want
them to be loose, so they actually
damaged my doll. Now for that, we have to
pass these yarns through our work so they would get hidden and they would be unseen, as we said in our
primary tutorials, that's our first yarn, dyed green yarn, which was my yarn for finishing
the rows, the pink one. So I place it behind my work. And as much as our
yarn continues, it will go in-between
it and it will be crusade among my work. I wanted to change my color. See, I don't want to make
my circle any bigger, any bigger than this. So without any increasing, we should work a single crochet once in each one
of our stitches. See, again, these yarns would be behind of your work
and they would be crusade among your work. Don't worry about them. They will be seen anymore. Just like that. My urine has changed. And inside of each one
of the stitches I worked single crochet ones
without increasing, as I said before, these two yarns
are going to fade.
4. 3. Decreasing stitches for the top of the body: Okay, so we have continued
the work on our LDL, and we worked this much
in the previous episode. I've already told
you that you can use whatever color that
you like in your work. Or you can actually work
it would one simple color, or you can use two or
three colors in your work. I've worked three rows
with my pink yarn and almost eight rows
with my brown yarn. And I worked simply without any increasing or
decreasing of stitches. It means that inside of each stitch I worked
only one single crochet. We don't have any increasing in our crochet and in our work. This wall just goes
up for us like this. And it looks like a cylinder. Well, you can get
the size that you want with the explanations
that I've done for you. And just the number
would be different. All of our dolls body is
worked by single crochet. And you should do that in a way that I can see this cross shape, this X shape on my work. It means that we should
work a single crochet in a way that the yarn would
be actually under the hook. Okay, Before we want
to continue our work, I'm going to show you
a sketch of the work. This was the lower
part, which is this. See here we've got this area. And as you can see, the upper part of
our dolls body, which would be basically
the top of the head, has tightened itself illegal
comparing to the lower part. And it got more narrow. So in the next few rows
or in the last few rows, we have to do some decreasing. If you sketch the shape
like that for yourself and then you place your
work on this sketch. You'll know that when you
should do, you're decreasing. So I would have to work for
several more rows simply. And then after dead in each row, I would have to
decrease as stitch, one from the right and
one from the left. The step-by-step that I'll
explain it to you as well. And then on the top of
our head, after that, I feel my dolls body
with fiber completely. We can actually sue
the top of the head. We need two circles
for our doll's eyes. Two wings, and two legs. That after we've completed
the bodies work, we are going to
explain them as well. So you can have a sketch
like that for your LDL. And then you can
actually work your doll totally based on
that sketch. Okay? Now we're going to do the
decreasing of our work. This is the beginning of my row. So when I actually make a fold over here in the beginning and put
them on each other. The sides of my work
will appear here. I want to decrease one stitch
from each side of my work, from each corner of my work. So basically I'll be decreasing
two stitches overall. Now we want to see
how we can do it. If you want to have
a decreasing stitch, I pass my hook through the first search and I
pass the yarn with it too, but I will not work them
together right now. I'll get my hook through
the next stitch as well. I'll get the yarn with my hook. And now I work all of
these three yarn together, make them as one. And I work them just like that. I worked three of them together. When we do that, it means
that one stitch is decreased. So I'll continue the rest of my work the same way simply
it means that inside of each one of the stitches I work only one single crochet until we get to the other
corner of our work. When I get to this point again, we will have one
decreasing stitch. Well, in each row, I'll be marking
these two sides with another color or the yarn. So we'll know where we
should do are decreasing of searches based on this shape
that I have over here, this opening Atlas, my
work should be decreased compared to this one for the upper part of
my doll's head. Okay. We worked a few last rows of our doll that for
the five last rows, as I told you before, I decrease this stitch from
each corner of my work, one on the left and
one on the right. As you can see,
see from here that I've started my decreasing
the opening part of my doll. You see it got a smaller, it means that comparing to
the five rows below it, It's got tighter
and more narrow. And when you feel inside
of your doll with fiber, it would look like this
bottom of our doll. And the mid part
and the upper part. Now with yarn that you
will working with, it'll give you a size
and a measurement. Say, this is the
thickness of my yarn. And this is the hook that
I've used for working it. Okay, Now, with this thickness of the yarn and with this hook, I've got this size for my doll. But you can see that
this yarn is thicker. Let me place them next
to each other and you can compare how
different they are. Okay. Now, of course, for
working this yard, my hook was also a bigger one. I worked it with this one. Okay. With this yarn, I worked for almost six rows. You can see the six rows of this yarns work the size of it. And now look at the six
rows of this 12,345.6. It's up to here. It gave us up to 3 cm, but the six rows of this
yarn gave us almost 5 cm. I just wanted you to
see the difference between the two yarns and how the thickness of your yarn can actually affect the
size your doll, and of course, the difference
into hooks that you had. So depending on your yarns
thickness and your hooks size, the doll that you create
will be in different sizes. If your yarn is thicker, your LDL would be bigger. Okay, Now we move on
to our dollar again. I feel the inside of my
dolls completely with fiber. And I'll make sure that it's filled enough that they won't be any empty places for
fiber anymore. Okay. Now, on the size of your dolls
or wherever you've done, you're decreasing your stitches. It means one on the right
and one on the left corner. When you put them together, it will look like this. You see these were the corners
and the size of my work. Now from here, I start suing these two edges
right next to each other. It doesn't matter if
you do this suing with your needle or you do it
with your crochet hook. They important thing is just
that you should totally sue this upper part and sue them together so they will be
attached to each other.
5. 4. Attaching the top of the owl: Alright, for actually suing this top part of
our doll's head, which has been created
from two loops like this. One of these loops is front loop and
another is back loop. I do not get both of
these yarns with my hook. I only get the yarn which is
facing towards the inside. I only get that yarn
with my hook and then I get another one
from the other side. And then I sued them. And then we repeat it till
the end of this area. Again, we get one
yarn from the back, from the back stitch, one yarn from the
front edge stitch, and then they are not, we are going to
do are suing with should be under our hook, then we sue or crochet all of
these three yarns together. Again. We get one yarn
from the back stitch. And then they are now we are
going to do are suing with, should be under our hook yarn
from the frontal stitch. And then we sue or crochet all these three yarns together. So we continue until
the last stitch.
6. 5. Crochet the eyes: Okay. As I've explained with actually sued the top part
of our doll's head. Now I'm going to show this
suing one more time with a thicker yarn in case some of our friends by not
understand it completely, now they are going to
understand it here. Each chain has two loops and we want to work
with the inner rings. Inner rings of these
chains with my hook. And I would also
get the inner ring of the chain right across
from it with my hook. So my hook is going actually
through on there these two. And then I take this yarn out. I'm using a different color for the suing yarn so
you can see better. So again, I say, I get 11 yarn from the
back stitch over my hook. And then this yarn
which I'm doing my suing with it would
be on there, my hook. This would be under
my hook and I get another yarn from the
front stitch over my hook. And then I worked all these
three orange together. It's very, very simple that we also use for sewing motives. So one yarn from the back, we'd go over to hook the yarn which is used for
this suing under the hook and one other yarn from the front to stitch
over the hook again. See, this is the result and these two parts of the crochets have been
attached together. Okay. You see over here, I've used the same color and the urine of the same
color as I did for the head. And I completely attached
my crochet parts together. We need two eyes for our doll, two wings and two legs that I'm going to explain
each one of them for you. We need two rings for the eyes and two circles for the eyes. And it's very similar to the circle that we've
used for the beginning. Our work on the doll, which would be actually the
bottom part of our doll. So first we create a magic ring and then we
start the crocheting. Just a difference
with this circle is that we do not use any
single crochets anymore. We're going to use half
double crochet is this time. First, I create a magic ring. I work two chains. I get the next string and the next chain from
inside of the magic ring. And then I worked all of the three yarns and
the three chains. Altogether. I repeat this for six times. And after we've done that, we completely tighten
the ring and I pull my yarn to tighten
the center of the ring. And then I work as
slippers stitch. For the second row, again, I work two chains. And inside of each sich
on the previous row, we're going to work half
double crochet twice. Now, we should actually crochet two white circles for the eyes. And the size of these circles totally depends
on the size of your doll. We have worked for two rows
for this size of the owl. But if you had a bigger owl, you should work for three rows and you should do it with
half double crochets. Okay? We have worked the second row and just like the first row, we should work slip
stitch at the end. And whenever you want to finish your
crocheting like this, and you've caught off the end of your yarn, the extra of it, then you get it out of your last chain,
like another chain. And then you pull the yarn
so it would be tightened. After that, you've crusade
both eyes or for your dolls. You can use the same color
yarn as your eyes to attach them and sue them
to your doll or else you can use heated
glue and stick the eyes into their own
placement after determining it. Alright, we need two wings
for the sides of our doll.
7. 6. Crochet the wings: Now, for crushing
the wings of R L, we create a magic ring. And inside of it we should work six half double crochets,
first two chains. Then you will have double
crochet six times. In the second row inside of
our first three stitches, we should work half
double crochet twice. When we get to the
fourth stitch, we work double crochet twice. Then on the fifth stitch we
should work treble crochet. I travel crochet once. As you can see, it looks
like a semicircle, which is a stretched out on
one corner and one side. We're going to actually
use another color to go all around our work once more, the last crochet that I've made was actually
a triple crochet. We want to start
using another color. First, I worked two chains. I worked half
double crochet four times on this triple crochet. Okay, We work the last
stage of our first row. We continue with the rest of these stitches from
our second row. We go to the second
row because again, I want this crochet
to be a bit bigger. In the first chain, we would have two stitches. In the second one, I would have one of them and
in the next one again too. So one by one, inside of one stitch,
half double crochet, two eyes, and inside of the next double
crochet only once. And then I continue till the last stitch in
the second row. And we were crocheting, we've crochet two
double crochets. Inside of each one of
these double crochets, we should work double
crochet twice. So you see for double crochet, inside of the two double crochet that I've had in
my previous row. Then I'll attached and last
stitch to the first chain. And I work a slip stitch to work on the wing
is over and I have to work two wings
just like that.
8. 7. Crochet doll's feet: Alright, now we want to
complete our doll's eyes. We can actually use these
beads on our doll's eyes. And you can actually
use them on both eyes. But I want to use a bait on one of the eyes
and on the other. I want to use my black
yarn to do three things. First, one of the
stitches of my first row, I got out my yarn and
then I take it out again. Then we do our second suing, horizontal, like this. And then again from the same stitch that we've
used in the beginning, we bring out our yarn
and this time we get it upward to
this area above. Say, it's like He's winking. So we create these
three shrinks, that one of them is toward down. One of them is a straight horizontal and the
other is toured up. Then you should actually
tighten these yarns in the back of your work and then
cut the rest of your yard. Then I will stick both of my doll's eyes unto my
work with my hated glue. Alright. The two legs for our doll, which looked like this. We want to see how this is done. We should work ten chains. The tenth chain is
still on the hook. Now inside of my ninth stitch, I work as slippers stitch. Then I worked single
crochet ones on each of the four
previous stitches. 3.4. Now, excepted chain that I already have on my hook, I worked five more chains. Then again, like the previous
row on the previous chain, I worked slippers stitch. And then on the four
previous stitches, I worked single crochet
once on each of them. Then again, I'm going to
repeat the same thing that I did for these
two other parts. So five chains, slippers
synch on the previous chain. And then for single crochets, that's the process. Okay? As you can see, we have
three rows like this. I still have one
chain on my hook. Now, I should attach these
three rows into one another. How are we going to do that? You see, we've got three rows
and we've got three yarns, which are the lowest
yarns of arrows. I get a yarn from our
first stitch like this. And I do this second
stitch like this. I get the yarn, bring it out, and I'll do the same thing
for the third stitch. Now, I'm going to work
all of these four yarns, which I have over my hook
altogether as one of their dad, we had five initial chains. We should work single
crochet on them as well. Just like that, we
have our own's legs.
9. 8. Tassel next to the ear: I'm using my heated glue
completely as you can see. And then I apply it in their own placement
of the doll's face. You should actually definitely determined the
placement of the eyes prior to sticking them and
then you should apply them. We also do the same
thing for our legs. We stick them the same way. Alright. Now after that we have crochet two
wings for our owl. You should attach it
exactly on the side of your work in a way that
this sharp edge and the sharp corner of your wing
would be facing down and the round area facing
its face and it's eyes. And again, you can
stick your wings to your dough with the heated glue as the same way as
you did for the eyes. For your dolls ear, you can use different colors that you used in
your whole doll. You can use all of the colors. So it would be added and
attached to our LDL, applied about 10
cm of each color, right next to each other. And now I'm going to attach
it to this top corner of our doll's head to the first stitch that
we had over here. The last one. Then you get your
hook and make it through the first
stitch over here. So I'm actually going
to show it to you on a thicker and bigger crochet so you can see
better in the video. And then you can do the
same thing over here. Alright? After that,
you've got 10 cm of each color of your yarn
folded from the center. That over here you
can have a ring. Now. You should get your hook through
the corner of your work. And then we get our hook
through the first stitch. Imagine that it's the first
stitch of your corner. And then from inside of this
ring that we've created, we get all of the yarns over the hook and take them
out of the first stitch. I'll do it one more, once more. I repeated. As you can see, we
have a chain here. Now. You can see you have
some extra yarns over here. And you should actually pass them through this ring that you've created over here. So I get these yarns
from here out. And then when it got like this, I pull and stretch these yarns so they
would be tightened. Then you can actually
cut the end of your yarns so you can get the size that you
want and they would be neat and all in one size.
