1. Introduction: The ability to communicate your message is good. But what's even better is if you're capable of communicating your message and sprinkling your personality into the mix. That's something that creative writing can give you. The ability to write creatively is something that will help you. If you have an entrepreneurial spirit, you can write, tweets, blogs, books in order to grow your presence. And if you're in the corporate sphere, you can use create writing in order to write profound emails which drive change. Create processes and procedures which are actually understood by other people. And you can ping your co-workers in a compelling way where they feel like they know you, even if they work on the different side of the planet. That is a power of creative writing. My name is Armand you Audrey, the founder of Armani talks a media company which helps engineers and entrepreneurs improve their communication skills so they can articulate their ideas with clarity and confidence. One of the skills that their money talks brand teachers is creative writing. Throughout my journey, I have written over 60 thousand tweets, 11000 plus emails, published five books, all creative writing content, which has helped different people from all around the planet improve their soft skills. In this class, you're going to understand the basic fundamentals of how creative writing works. You're going to be given a simple creative writing system that any dummy can use. You're going to understand the order of building an athlete's mindset towards a creative field. And you're going to be given a final project which will allow you to exercise your creative writing skills. If you're ready and excited to build your impact, I look forward to seeing you inside. 2. What is Creative Writing?: There's a lot of different definitions for creative writing. And I'm gonna give you my one. It's the art of turning your personality, your knowledge, and wisdom into words. That's it. We're not going to make it any more complicated than that. Because the minute that we make it more complicated than that, you're going to start to become too intellectual. Intellect has its spot in the world. But being too intellectual is going to prevent you from relaxing. The end goal of creative writing is to try to relax more after each piece. The more that you relax, the more that you're going to have fun as you're writing, the more that you have fun, the easier it's going to be to use your personality in such a way that you are crafting it into words effortlessly. A part of you is going to feel like that the creative writing work is creating itself. And that is the goal. That is what I'm going to be teaching for the rest of this class. 3. Input/Output/Process/Store: I don't know whether people were aware of this or not. But humans made computers as a mirror image of themselves. And a wait, wait, wait. I don't mean that your face looks like a computer monitor. What I mean is in terms of the processes, there's four fundamental components of a computer. Input, process, store output. These are the four components that we can beautifully apply into the world of people in order to improve or creative writing game. And this is how I'm going to break down these four steps and combine it with creative writing for the next couple of videos. 4. Input: Read More: Input is the art of taking in information through your senses. You can take in any sort of information that you want. You can watch videos, you can listen to podcasts, and you can read a lot. I've noticed that creative writers often tend to read a lot. And they're not just reading one author, they're often wide red. And in terms of what you read, you must include yourself in the selection. Because as we proceed throughout this course, you're going to see that you're going to be writing a lot. And a smart if you can read your own writing back, which will help you because this sort of writing is personalized to you. Anytime that you're reading your own content back, you'll feel a lot of strong sensations. And this sort of sensations is amazing, especially in terms of producing creative content. But for the time being, tried to factor in reading more. Because the more that you read, the more that you train your mind to think it works. And the more that you train the mind to think at words, the easier it becomes to write words. 5. Process: Good & The Bad: Processes the art of turning data into information and information into wisdom. The way that we gather wisdom is by valuing the good parts and the bad parts. Our mind normally has two different features. Pleasant or unpleasant, pleasant, unpleasant. And what's going to happen as you're reading is that you're going to notice there's a lot of stuff that you'd like. And soon as you like it, you are going to resonate with it. Make a note of that. And there's also going to be certain things that you don't like. Make a note of that as well. Because once you start to process what you like and don't like, it becomes much easier to learn what to store. And store is another feature of the four parts of the computer that I was mentioning that we'll cover in the next section. 6. Store: Exercise Memory: A great writer has a great memory. And what does great memory? They're able to create a lot more content in the near future. As you're processing the information and you're seeing what you like and don't like, make a note of that. Store it in your database. And the more that you're shorting to store a variety of wisdom in your database. The more that you sought to develop a feel for good writing versus bad writing. And as you develop this field, which does not happen in the beginning stages, it happens over time. The more that you start to enjoy writing more in the near future. So whether you think it's important or not, try your best to store it. Because this memory that we have, it has amazing potential. We could memorize anything that we want and it's time that we use it. 7. Output: Write More: Output is the art of writing. For a great creative writers, you'll notice that input process store, or often something that is happening behind the scenes. While output is something that you are capable of perceiving. Whether it's that tweet, whether it's that blog post or that book. But understand that everything is a process. It all functions as a system and you need everything. But I can't stress how important output is. You've got to write and you gotta write a lot to be able to develop this field. A person who's reading other people's work is processing what they like and don't like, and storing it whenever rights is pretty much blowing in a balloon. But over time that not writing is important. Which is why I'm going to break down in the next section how a creative writer writes. 8. Create/Edit: Design the mind has two features, pleasant or unpleasant. A creative writer has two modes, creation and editing. With creation, you want to be fast, you want to be bold. You want to feel limitless. And then with editing, you want to be safe. You want to be logical, you want to be scientific. As you can tell, these two hats are very different. And as you're starting off your journey, I recommend introducing a smaller barrier between these two worlds when you're creating, had that certain zone when you are creating. And then take a break. As you take a break, you can now evaluate your creations from the logical lens. And this is when you can fix up a lot of spelling mistakes, grammar mistakes, punctuation mistakes, et cetera. To give you a real-world example of this, every morning I spend roughly around 12 minutes writing 16 tweets. And for those 16 tweets, my punctuation spelling, grammar is awful, but that's not my main focus. My main focus is to get my ideas from here to here. As the 12 minutes are up. For the rest of the day, I am gradually uploading and posting those tweets. And as I'm pulling it out of my draft section, but that's when I'm editing. So this Trends my mind to be in two modes of thinking, creating and editing. 9. Athlete's Mindset: Average writers create wherever they feel inspired. Great writers create them feel inspired. The thing is with creative writing, it's a creative field. And whenever we're dealing a little too much with creative fields, things become blurry. And when things are blurry, often discipline is one of the first things to go. This is why we need to develop a regimen in terms of systematizing creativity. And this is what I call the athletes mindset. An athlete as someone who is disciplined, who works hard, who shows up, and they just do this on repeat. They don't simply wait for inspiration. And as you're beginning your journey, in terms of creative writing, you want to develop a ritual that you follow. Whatever that ritual is for you. It is for you. That's what separates a routine from a ritual. Routines are something that different people can copy, paste, and apply. But for a ritual, our own narrative mind is engaged with this. Therefore, whatever your ritual is developed one. And as you develop it, keep making sure that you are showing up. If you're writing only in the mornings, then keep on doing it. If you're a night owl and you like to write at night, then keep on doing it. But just understand that consistency practice grid. This may not sound like artistic traits, but you better believe that these are autistic traits mixed with the athletes mindset. 10. Prioritize Relaxation: The final tip that I want to give you is to make relaxation a priority. Each time that you're creating. You want to make sure that you don't feel two-tenths. And if you feel too tense, try to make these micro little adjustments that allows you to feel comfortable. Maybe it's smiling as you're typing. Maybe it's letting your shoulders relax a little bit more. Maybe you feel certain tensions in your body that once you bring conscious awareness to it will gradually start to loosen up. The reason that you want to make relaxations, our priority is because if you don't make it a priority, then you're going to feel tense after each form of creating. And if you keep feeling tense while you're writing, then eventually what's going to happen is the subconscious mind. The mind that doesn't like resistance is going to feel resistance towards the act of clear writing. Our goal is to feel calm and relaxed. Therefore, make relaxation a priority. 11. Class Project: Now it's time for the final project. What I want you to do is pick any topic that you desire and write a minimum of 500 words on it. As you're writing the 500 words. I don't want you to filter yourself. Instead, I want you to be in creation mode. Write fearlessly. Once you are done with the minimum of 500 words, what I want you to do is take roughly 30 minutes of a break after the 30 minutes are up. What I want you to do is come back to your writing and take some time to edit it, reread it, and keep fixing the grammar mistakes, punctuation mistakes, and spelling mistakes. Once you are done with your piece, be sure to post it in the class projects section right on below and share your writing with the world. If you enjoyed this beginner's class into clear writing, I appreciate you for joining me.
