roadmap to follow, breaking down your writing
journey into manageable steps. In this lesson, we will explore the importance of
setting clear goals and provide you with examples of famous writers who have
utilized this habit to achieve. Now let's talk about importance
of setting clear goals. Their action goals
act as a compass, giving you a sense of direction in your
writing endeavors. They help you identify
what you want to achieve. Whether it's a
finishing a novel, publishing a
collection of poems, or becoming a freelance writer. Next, motivation. Clear goals provide
motivation and drive. When you have a specific
target in mind, it becomes easier
to stay focused and overcome obstacles
along the way. Goals actually give you
something to strive for and keep you inspired to
keep writing accountability. Setting goals holds you
accountable for your progress. By establishing deadlines
and milestones, you create a framework to access your achievements and adjust your strategies if necessary. Fist accountability keeps you on track and prevents
procrastination. Here are examples of famous
writers and their goals. Jk Rowling, before she became their runaway author of
the Harry Potter series, JK Rowling set a clear goal for herself to become a
published writer. Despite facing
numerous rejections, she persevered and
eventually achieve her goal becoming one of the most
successful authors in history. Ernest Hemingway. Hemingway had a goal oriented
approach to his writing. He aimed for simplicity
and clarity in his prose. Famously stating, I
write one page of masterpiece to 91 pages of crap. This dedication to consist
writing and he's a goal of creating impactful
stories contributed to his literary success. Maya Angelou. Angelo had the goal of using her writing to inspire
and empower others. Her autobiographical
works such as, I know why the caged bird sings, reflected her goal
of shedding light on important social issues and advocating for
equality and justice. Now it's time for you to set your own clear
writing goals. Follow these steps. First, reflect on your
aspirations as a writer. What do you want to achieve? Is it finishing a Noel, publishing a short
story collection, or becoming a
successful blogger? Next, write down your
ultimate writing goal. Then break down your goal
into smaller milestones. E.g. if your goal is
to finish now, well, you could set milestones such as completing the first draft, revising and editing, and submitting it to publishers
or self-publishing. Number four, assign specific
deadlines to each milestone. Be realistic, but also challenge yourself to stay
motivated and focused. Finally, write a
brief statement. Summarizing your writing goals. Keep it somewhere visible like bulleting board or the
screensaver on your computer. To remind yourself

a writing routine. Consistency is key for
successful writers. Whether you're a seasoned
writer or just starting out, establishing a writing routine is essential for maintaining productivity and making progress
in your writing journey. In this lesson, we will explore the importance of developing
a writing routine and provides strategies
to help you find the time and space for
regular writing sessions. So why is writing
routine so important? It cultivates discipline. Arriving routine
helps you develop discipline and makes writing
a regular part of your life. It removes their lands
on fleeting moments of inspiration and encourages you to show up at the

writing routine. He would wake up
early in the morning and write for several hours, aiming for a specific
word count each day. Maya Angelo Angelo had a
unique writing routine where she would rent a
hotel room and ride from 07:00 A.M. to 02:00 P.M.
she would bring a bottle of Sherry and a deck of
playing cards for breaks. Now let's talk about strategies for developing
a writing routine. Find your optimal time. Experiment with different
times of the day to discover when you are the
most learned and create. Some writers prefer
early mornings, while others find their
inspiration in the evening. Allocate dedicated

tool for writers. And here are some
techniques to help you cultivate and enhance
your creative abilities. A free-writing. Set aside a specific

or judgment, land your thoughts, flow

distractions, and add her discipline, writing routine, and sharing. She had dedicated
time for her craft. Find accountability and support. Having someone to hold you
accountable can significantly impact your discipline
and persistence as a writer Sica, writing partner. Maybe you find someone here in this class or join
our critic group, or participate in writing challenges to stay motivated and receive feedback
on your work. E.g. levies and Tolkien, as we mentioned earlier, form a writing group
called the Inklings, where they shared and discussed
