1. Introduction: here. Even I am nickel power, also known as the motions on this course, is for anyone who is interested to learn how to create complex logo animations using simple techniques, enough proof fixed. We will also cover topics like how to animate shape players, how to use graph editor to enhance your animations, adding overshoots with expressions and much more. We will go over each process step by step so you can follow along even if you are new to the software along the way. I will also show you my workflow tips and tricks that I have learned over the years by using our proof X This is gonna be super fun, so I will see you in the class. 2. Getting Started: Alright, guys. So here we are in after effects of the first thing that need to do is set up our project. And to do that, I'm gonna create a new composition. Let's rename this to mean, as this is gonna be our main animation comp 1920 by 10 80 60 FPs and 10 seconds Long head. Okay, let's create one more composition in which we will animate all the shapeless I'll call this animation. And let's also add in all the assets that we will need for this project. So I can just right click in the project panel going to import and import file. Or I can just have a click to open my explorer and browse my fights. So I need all these three files that 1/2 a medically cone import and then drag and drop it into this Aiken so it's gonna create a folo. I'll call this assets, and we are good to go 3. Animating Shapes Pt.01: So now let's start animating shape layers. So the first thing that I'm gonna do is select my lips to and make sure the animation composition is open up and you can double click to create an ellipse going toe lips, lips, part one whole old and double click on this link, Aiken. So it's gonna create a perfect circle. I can just increase the side if I want so something like that, so that it covers up the complete comp. Now, I want to say me circle for this animation. So to do that, what I'm gonna do is click on this Aikin and add a trim pot going to trim part properties and said the end property to 50%. And now we have a semi circle, then toe enemy the circle. I'm gonna create a new null object. So let's create a new null object. I can call this r o. T rocked for rotation and then I want to move the anchor point off this null object to the center. So do that. I'm gonna hold control and double click on the span behind Tool which is gonna move Danka Point into the center and to move there. No object into the center. I'm going to use my line. Perhaps I can just click on the Seiken to add to align the null object into the center. If you don't see this aligned tab, you can go and find it under windows a line. So hide this for now. We don't need to see it. And what I want to expand in the shape layer toe this rotation. Now that we just created enough, it does. Aspirant and link option. You can right click right over your going to columns and turn on parent and link. So let's Palin this to the null object, and now we can go ahead and meet this also before animating. I just renamed. Is too circle underscore or one? So let's lay ganahl object. Hit s to bring down the scale properties and then hit shift are to bring down the rotation properties. Let's rotate this to minus 90. I wanted to start from right over here, So now let's create a key frame on the rotation property. Go one second forward in time. Let rotate it a bit toe some around me. There looks good. Create a key frame on the scale property as well. Go toe two seconds. You can hit page down to jump one frame forward in time. Then I'm gonna treat this a bit more. Let's say some around several on their looks good and bring them to scale to around 35%. So we have a pretty simple animation. As you can see. Let's jump to three seconds. I'm gonna go back one frame for hitting page up. Then let's rotate this a bit more. He was some around their looks, could and skill is down to 15%. All right, let's jump to four seconds. Retreat this even more something like God. And this time to scale this up to around 30%. Then let's go to five seconds routed this and skill is down to zero. So now for a preview, this we have a pretty boring animation. So now let's make it a bit more cooler. So to do that, I'm going to select all the key frames and hit F nine on the Cabo to ease them, go into the graph it Oh, right. Click and select edit speed graph. And then I'm gonna tweak some points. Now I'm gonna try to create a peek into the center so that we can clear a smooth in and smooth out animation for our shape. So to do that, I'm gonna use this time indicator as a guide and place it right over here. Let's select all the points and try to create a peaks from the whole old and Control. And let's move this handled just like that scene for this one. Another agency. I'm trying to create a big right away up tonight, a preview, my animation. We have a bit more cool animation, right? But now what we do is write oil. When the animation, you know, fades out. We have a kind of oppose into our shape, and I don't want that. I want a continues movement for my shape. So to do that, I'm gonna create a new no object again called This AM Underscore R o T. That is main rotation. Let's again ah, line Danka point into the center by holding control and double clicking on the pan behind tool and then using the aliant up to center the nal object. And then I'm gonna pardon the force rotational object that we created to the main rot. All right then hit are to bring down the rotation properties, cleared a key frame, go to five seconds and said, this value to one. And now that previewed this. You can see we have a little bit off continues movement for an animation, and that is looking pretty cool. You can hide this. So this is our base animation. Now let's go ahead and make it look more complex. 4. Animating Shapes Pt.02: All right, so now we have to clear some bunch of copies to make the animation look more complex. So to do that, what I'm gonna do is select both off these layers. That is the circle and rotation. We can also change the color so we can, you know, see more properly. I'm not making yellow head control the pull both of these leaders below. And let's Jane the color to something like Maybe aqua. So we know that these are two different layers and we don't get mess up. All right, so now I'm gonna jump into the circle, hit you two times to reveal all the properties, and we don't need the trim part for now. Someone high tack. Let's give it a different color for now so that we can see it more properly, and we have something like that. But now what I'm gonna do is select this hit you two times again, and let's increase the size of it. Someone creates something like this. All right. And then let's assuming a little bit in the time and holding old and using school Well, and now what I'm gonna do is let's move the time indicator to 10 frames and move the rock to that does the second l object 10 teams forward in time. So what this is gonna do is it's gonna help us to create a little bit of Dealey into both animation, as you can see, looks pretty cool. Now I'm gonna repeat this again, some to select both off these layers that controlled they pull them below. Let's change the color to something like a lavender. And let's move this wrote three. That is the null object tree 10 frames forward, that is, 20 frames forward in time. So now if I move ahead and let's increase the size of the circle so that you two times to reveal the properties, I can give it a nice, different color to this. So So let's give a nice yellow color and let's increase the size a bit. So not a preview. This you can see we get this really interesting look. But right now what I want is at five seconds, I want to scale out the yellow circle. So what I'm gonna do is select the road three doctor than object. Three hit you so you can see the key frames. Let's move right over here and skill this up all the way. So it goes up the complete frame. So now, at the end, it skills up and talked is looking pretty cool. Now let's go ahead and also change the color off the second circles on keeping it off fight color for this. And now let's go ahead and out of packing toe the design to make it look even more interesting. 5. Adding Patterns: So what I'm gonna do is select the circle one had controlled the called this mosque and give it a black color just like that. Go into the cream pot. So hit you two times to reveal all the trim part to reveal the cream part. Let's open that up. Said this 200 and said the stock property off this to 50. All right, let's close this up now in the assets folder, I have a back in that I'm gonna use someone to drag and drop it on the top off the mosque. Let's go at the very start, done on the collapse transformation. So we don't get any kind of blurry edges of pixels hit s and skill this up all the way and then said the mosque clear hit a foot, revealed the trackman option and said this to loom a mat. Then what I'm gonna do is select the pact in layer and parentis. So the road that is the first null object that we created and now we should have something like this. But something doesn't look right, because we get this weird edges. So to fix this, all you have to do is it s and skinless up even more just like dots and not a preview. This we have really interesting looking animation. 6. Creating Complex Movements: Now let's go back into our main animation and drag and drop in the animation comp that consistent, mean animation and let's create a revealing shape for our main animation. So to do that, I'm going to select the Ellipse will double click, make it white Monday Lips and lips Part one. Well, old and click on this link I can to create a perfect circle Skill this up so that it covers the complete frame Goto one second select earlier I'm gonna rename this to over Lake It s so we can see the scale properties create a key frame Go back, create a key frame By clicking on the psych in I'm gonna jump back toe one second and said this to zero So we have a revealing animation just like that Looks pretty nice Now Select the key frames Header flying Go into the graph editor And let's create a peek just like recreated before someone who used the time indicator as a guide Select this move this polling control so that it snaps up just like that. There we go. So now let's preview this. And as you can see, we have this really interesting look select the animation composition Lear had controlled. Be duplicated. Make sure you turn on the collapse transformation. Second, the bottom one. Let's move this Maybe 10 frames of forward just like that and scale this up to around 3 50 So we have a copy of that which looks supercool as again. See? But then what? I can do a select earlier hit our and repeat this by 1 80 degrees. So now if I previewed this, we have a pretty complex looking animation just using some basic tricks. He can create this really interesting look. 7. Animating Logo: All right. So now I'm gonna show you guys how to create a really interesting logo animation for our logo reveal. So your I have my logo off mean machine. I'm gonna create a new composition. Said the width and height to 500 by 500 called this logo hit. Okay, Dragon, drop in the local and 1/2 then going to fix in preset in typing, Phil. So I can just double click to apply that up. And you can, of course, give it any color that you want. I'm gonna give it a nice white color. Go back into our mean clump and I'll go somewhere around there at five seconds and dragon dropping the logo comp not to create a very cool scale animation. With the nice overshoot, I will be using a very simple expression that I have some Copy this expression control CD. Copy that up slugged Logo comp. It s clear to keep him on the scale. Broke t Let's move the ski frame a bit forward in time and said is 20 So now we have Ah, pretty simple scaling animation. But we don't want that. So I'm on hold old and click on the stuff fortune and had controlled we to copy paste the expression. So we have a really nice overshoot with a frequency off two and a delay off eight. So now if I previewed this, we have a really cool Oh, shoot. Now I need to match up the logo. Bounce with the circle out animation. So move. It's a bit forward. Let's see. Yep, I think doctors looking pretty nice. So I'll go to around six seconds and then hit three to bring down the position. Properties. Create a key frame, Goto seven seconds and let's move it a bit to the left holding shift key, so we have something like that. 8. Animating Text and Final Tweaks: all right, So now, to create a text animation, I'm going to select the text tool. I'm using the heretic Kabul phone you can use, of course, any phone that you like. Let's type in our text some type in being machine. Let's increase the size a bit, so that is looking pretty nice. Now what I'm gonna do, respond the text on a mission to the logo, calm so that it moves along with the logo. And then I can add a nice opacity animation to our text. So let's let the text layer hit. We create a key frame on the opacity, go back and said this to zero. Then I can hold old an open square bracket to crop tack, Layer said. Give frames hit F nine go into the graph editor and again create and I speak. Someone moved us to the right and move the sandal to the left. And now we have this very nice real. I can also add a tagline. If I want I can to select this at control D. Move this to the bottom and let's bring down the size to around 50 and type in a tag. Ling, you will make this a bit more smaller. That is looking good. And I'm gonna place this right over you Now with the an animation, what I can also do is select the backing. Put this right over here on the top off our animation turn on clock tone on collapse, transformation headcase skills up header four and set the blending mood to multiply. So it gets really nice. Look, And obviously, if we can bring down the past e so e d And bring that down a bit, you can also add a tend to add a nice color for our shape. Some type intent in the effects and presets. Double click to apply that up and stuff black. I can make this nice, orangish color that one's good and then selected Hit s to bring down the scale properties, create a key frame, had he to bring down the opacity, cleared a key frame you and then go back scale this up and said the capacity to zero again . I can go and select the key frames. Hit F nine graphic. Ditto on the same exact thing. There you go. So we have this really nice reveal at the end. Let's go ahead and check out our complete animation. As you can see, it's looking very, very nice. Now. One thing that I want to do is agonize background, because at some spaces we see this black background. So to fix this, I can't control why to create a new solid called this BG for background and pick with this Greek color that I have and put this at the bottom and there we go. Now let's go ahead and let me show you how you can create color controls for this logo reveal so you can tweak the colors super easily. 9. Creating Color Controllers: So now to clear color controllers me to create a new null object. Call this controller going to fix and preset and let's type in color control. Let's drag and drop it on the control earlier. So now we have our force color control. Let's call this color on the score one, and I can treat few copies just by duplicating it. So I'll keep four copies for now. And then what I'm gonna do is lock this layer. That is the effect control Leo, and let's start linking them up with each shape. So I'll jump into the main animation come that we have let select before Circle that we have. And what I'm gonna do is going to fix in preset typing, Phil double click to apply that up, and then I can move this just like that. So you have two effects control and then hold old click on the stopwatch and then linked this to the color one. Then I can easily change to any color whichever color that I like, so I can just change it to any color that I like. So let's keep it blue for now. Now I can select the film hit control C to copy that Phil selling the second circle had controlled. We two piece that up whole old to handling this and click on the start, forced to unlinked it from the force controller whole old and click again on the stopwatch and then link it to the 2nd 1 Then I could give it a different color that I want. So keep it nice or fight again. I'll slit. The third circle had controlled we to paste that up or 10. Click on the stuff, watched Owen link it again. Click on it to reveal the properties and link it to toward color, and I will keep it a nice white color. So, as you can see, this is looking pretty nice will keep him living off white just like that. Or I can actually get a nice bluish or fight column that looks much better. And then, finally, to the Pattern mosque, I'm gonna get control we to pay, stop the same exact process and link it to color four. And let's join you to whichever color that we want. And typical day, we have created a nice color controller pretty easy to do so now I can easily change the colors. So whichever color that I want to get easily control it, using just one layer. I don't need to dive deep into all the animations and stuff. You can just easily switch between colors and, you know, create the old cool logo animation. 10. Final Thoughts: The best part about this local animation is that you can easily switch to different logos and type in any text that you want without messing up the animation.
