1. Introduction: Abstract paintings are one of my most favorite
types of paintings to create. They land you so
much freedom to be creative. By creating an
abstract painting. We communicate
through the lines, shapes, colors, and even marks. Hello and welcome to this class. My name is Alina, and as you have noticed, we have a special guest
in my studio today. This is Monica. And together we will create abstract
painting in this class. If abstract art is
totally foreign for you, and it all sounds too
overwhelming and complicated. Don't worry, because this is where geometric art comes in. Geometric art is a
perfect starting point for your creative
journey as a beginner. And it goes without
saying that it also looks contemporary
in any setting. So that's a great way to make an anesthetic artwork as well. So in this class, not only you will
learn the basics of creating geometric
abstract paintings, but you will also create your own piece of art
worth a place on the wall. So let's have a closer look at what exactly in this class. So before we dive
into the topic of geometric art and
how to create it, first, we will talk
about the project for this class and the tools and
materials you might need. Next, you will learn more about geometric art and the
three main basics, composition, colors,
and texture. Then we will talk about
establishing the idea, the intention for your
abstract painting. We will look into
various sources of inspiration and ideas
for abstract art. After we find the
inspiration and develop the idea for geometric
abstract painting, we will learn more about the
composition in abstract art, and we'll also
start planning out the composition for our
own after fainting. Next, we'll talk about the second basic components of abstract paintings, colors. You will discover more sources
for color inspiration. You will establish
the color palette for your painting as well. And then we'll talk about
building texture to your abstract painting and some of the possible
ways to do it. Finally, we'll have our
geometric painting all planned out and we will be ready to finally
start creating it. I will walk you
through the process of creating a geometric
abstract painting. You can follow me in
the process and create the same painting or develop your ideas and create
your own unique painting. And so this is what we are
going to do in this class. Let me know if you have any
questions and have fun.
2. Class Project: The project for this class is abstract geometric painting. To create it first, make sure to watch this class. As today, you will learn more about geometric abstract art, the sources for inspiration, the importance of the
idea in your painting. And of course, the three
Basics to keep in mind. And as you learn
it step-by-step, you will start creating your
own geometric painting. I hope you will enjoy
this project and I can't wait to see what you
have to share with us. So once you painting
is finished, don't forget to share it so that we can all
appreciate your artwork.
3. Tools & Materials: In this lesson, we will go over some tools and
materials you will need for this class to create your own abstract
geometric painting. You can make your geometric art using any medium you want, like oils, acrylics, or
watercolors, anything. So in this class,
I encourage you to use your favorite
medium and tools. I also encourage you
to experiment and try new mediums and you
unexpected styles for you. Now, I'm going to
share with you my list of those and materials
that I'm going to use in this class just in
case if you want to follow me in this creative journey and grade the same
painting as I am. So my medium for today's
class is acrylics. I just acrylics for
several reasons. Firstly, it was important for
me that it would dry fast. And I also wanted it to be flat so that my painting would have as little
texture as possible. Next, I will be used in just
a few synthetic brushes, palette knife to mix the colors. Finally, I chose to work
on a square canvas, 50 by 50 centimeters. Also, for one of the lessons
we are going to need to the simple pencil and a piece
of paper or sketchbook. So plan out the composition
for the painting. So those are the supplies I
will be using for this class. If you have any questions for garden art supplies
or anything at all, feel free to ask me in
the discussion section.
4. Geometric Abstract Art: Geometric art is a
form of abstract art based on geometric
forms like lines, squares, circles, other shapes, and combinations of the above. That's what makes it perfect for anyone who loves abstract art, but has no experience
in creating it. The simple forms and shapes of the geometric art make it
perfect for absolute beginners. Still, many find themselves lost in these creative
freedom of abstract art. And that's why in this class
we are going to learn, evolved the absolute
basics to keep in mind those outcome position,
column, and texture. As long as you build your
outlook on these three basics, it will become much more easier for you to
create abstract art and make sure you faint and glucagon out the way
he wanted it to be. In the next lesson, we'll talk more about each
one of the basics and we'll start on creating the geometric abstract
painting along the way.
5. Ideas & Inspiration: Previously we talked about the three main basics
of abstract art, composition, colors and texture. But those are the elements on the canvas which have to
originate with the idea first. So before we go into
learning more about those basics and putting
them into practice, the very first thing
to do is to establish the idea that intention for your future
abstract painting. With intention, you will be able to bring a certain meaning or idea to those lines,
colors, and texture. We'll take your obstacle
work to entirely new level. And that's why it's the best. So start your painting
with an idea. I know how difficult
it is sometimes to find inspiration for
abstract paintings. But there are questions
that you can ask yourself to give you some
ideas of what to paint. And as you do so, keep in mind the three basics
of abstract art, composition, color, and texture. Make sure to focus on those bullet points as you
search for inspiration, MDS, for your abstract painting. So first, you can ask yourself, what inspires you today? I know how overwhelming
it may sound. So try to think that in general. But at the particular moment, maybe you had defined
summer evening and it inspired you to create. So keep digging in this
direction until you find yourself thinking about the
colors that's around you, the shapes that would
represent your mood and the atmosphere that you want to recreate in your
abstract painting. This is a great approach to get inspired and find more ideas for your art and to put those
ideas into composition, colors, and section
for your painting. Another great idea to get
inspired and find new ideas is to look at the abstract works of the artists that you admire. Suddenly those paintings like color combinations, textures, and other techniques,
anything that catches your attention
and inspires you. There are so many amazing
outposts along from that, simply an amazing source of inspiration and ideas for
your abstract art as well. I have gathered some of my most favorite artworks
that really inspired me. So in case if you struggle finding ideas for your painting, just go to the resources and there you will
find the link to my Pinterest board with the most inspiring and creating
abstract geometric paintings. The last but not least source
of inspiration is your surrounding all the
interior to be precise. So in case if you are creating
the abstract painting for a particular setting like your room or your friend's
house as a brazen, then you already have the colors that you need to use
for inspiration. Moreover, you can get so
much more from the interior, like textures, shapes, and the
overall mood of the place. That's another great source of inspiration I
recommend you to use. And by the way, that's exactly what I will
do in this class. But what about that later? And finally, keep practicing. Keep creating
abstract paintings. And eventually you
will begin to develop your own style and the ideas
feel calm, easier to you.
6. Composition: We have learned about the main
sources of inspiration for the abstract paintings
because they have to originate
with an idea first. At this stage, you may
already get some rough ideas, oh, how your abstract
painting will look like. And that's when
they start blending out the composition
for abstract painting. Composition is an arrangement of the artistic elements
of the work. It's the shape, size, and the placement of the
elements on the canvas. Some artists come up
with the compositions, intuitively, blend them out. In this class, we will arrange
the composition first. Then in our
decomposition is also great visual help,
especially for beginners. As we are creating geometric abstract painting in this class, it will be easier
for you to arrange the composition if you
fall one simple approach. First, we choose the
shapes for the painting, and then we'll arrange those
shapes in the composition. We have already learned
that the elements of geometric abstract art
can be in the lines, squares, triangles, circles, and the combination of
the above and more. Now, you choose the
shapes according to your intention and what
you got inspired by. I personally am going
go with the circles. There are family and
harmonious and solved. And that's exactly what I want my abstract painting to be. As you are chosen, which composition you
are going to use. Keep in mind what inspired
you to create this painting? And with each intention
and idea your grade in it.
7. Choosing Colors: As we have planned
out the composition, we can now actually
start painting. But before we do so, let's first talk about the second basic component
of abstract painting, color. So just like we did it with the composition of the painting, when we sketched
and blend it out, we will do the same
with the colors. So we will not just for all loads of random
colors into the painting, well, at least not
in this class. Instead, we are going to really think through
the color palette. I know sometimes choosing the color palette for the
artwork can be really tricky. And it can be a lot
of pressure to, because the colors hold big part of influence
on the painting. In this class, we will
try to keep it simple. For that. Let's go back to when we
talked about inspiration and the idea that we want to put into the
abstract painting. So as you are searching
for inspiration, you probably have found the
colors you want to use. It could be some artists work that really resonated with you. Or the interior for the URL, want to create this painting, or even your favorite
color itself would be a perfect source
of inspiration. In case if you struggled with search or full-color painting, you can use color
blends generators, which will help you to find
inspiration and to discover complimentary colors that you want to use in your painting. Now we can mix the colors. This is going to
be our final step, is incenting the gullible it. And as you mix the band, you make sure that the color work perfectly
together to create. You aren't harmonious
abstract painting. As I'm creating my bending
for a certain setting, I have found my inspiration
in the interior design. So as a composition, I chose family and
harmonious, and so circles. And now I've decided on the color palette that
will resonate with it. So I'm gonna go with the most
diverse and brown colors. As I'm mixing those colors. Make sure that they
combine nicely together. And I also decide on which
color belongs to which shape.
8. Abstract Painting Texture: So far, we have developed
the composition and the color palette for our
geometric abstract painting. Now we can finally talk about
the texture of the artwork. By building texture,
you can create rich and interesting
abstract paintings that will really stand out. There are various ways to create texture in an abstract painting. It all depends on
the medium you're using and also the kind of
texture you want to achieve. You can use special
modeling phase or several layers of saw. Then the simplest way
to build texture for abstract painting is to
apply the paint thickly. You can do so by using the
painting or a palette knife. Or you can simply apply the
bands in several layers. That intentional
lack of texture can also be a Satan in your
abstract painting. So whatever to actually you decide to use or nano texture, it'll keep in mind
how it will work in combination with the composition and the colors of your painting. That's why I chose acrylics
as the medium for this class. The much more easier to give
this painting for that. And somehow, I feel we
are ready to finally start creating our geometric
abstract painting. So grab your Ghana's
and brushes, and I will see you
in the next lesson.
9. Adding Colors: Welcome to the final stage
of our painting process. So far, we have
assemblage, decomposition, colors, and texture
of abstract painting. And now all that's
left for us to do here is to combine all of those elements together into one beautiful abstract painting. This final stage of the painting is probably the
easiest one of all. As we have already
made the most of the decisions of how our abstract painting
will look like. We know which colors
and shapes to use, what we put into them. So what I'm gonna do in this
lesson is L simply feel in the shapes I've sketched out with the colors
I chose before. Finally, I will add
neutral background color for more than one is
and coherent MOOC. And this will be it. I invite you to follow my lead. Do the same with your
painting and add colors to your geometric
shapes as well. And once you finished layering final colors to your
abstract painting, you can find out the injure the results of your
creative work. I will see you in the
final lesson only class. To teach the ad. The final score. Hi.
10. Final Thoughts: Congrats on completing

geometric art. He had learned about
the compensation colors and texture of abstract paintings and how they help you to create
abstract artworks. We have looked into
various sources of inspiration and ideas
for abstract art. And finally, you have
learned to plan out the geometric painting and
created it from scratch. I hope you had fun creating this painting and you will
