Create Your Own Digital Signature in Photoshop

1. Introduction: We are living in a digital age where everything is online and having your own digital signature is very important. Hi, my name is Sean. I'm a professional graphic designer from India with over ten years of experience. I'm also the founder of traffic getting novices. They're digital marketplace. On the side, I run a YouTube channel. In this class, you will learn to create digital signature. It will help you to sign any online form, legal document, or your own art. The cushion is to have your own distancing nature. If the answer is no, then this class is for you. It doesn't matter if you are a student, a business owner, or a professional, anyone can take this class. There are two things that you need to prepare to follow along with me. First is the camera and second, if the Photoshop, if you don't have portals, then that's completely fine. I will guide you. For the camera. You can use your smartphone to take a snapshot of the signature. And if you don't have Photoshop, I will mention the link in the description. To download Photoshop directly from their website. They offer free trial version on their website. So this class will be divided into three parts. First, we will prepare the signature image. Secondly, we will refine the signature. And third, we will make it non-disruptive. Let's meet in our next class. 2. Prepare The Image: In this class we will prepare the signature image. Firstly, you can take any business card whose backside is blank. Now take a pen and signing in the back side of the card. It should be in the center. Not take the smartphone out and click a photo where it makes sure the photo you take should be from the top view and should not be blurred. You can save this image in your email draft to that you can download it directly from the PC. Now open the Photoshop software and drag the signature image inside the Photoshop. You can see the card alignment is not accurate even if we take the photo from the top view, sometimes it gets a perspective view as well. And to fix this, we have an amazing tool in Photoshop that is accurate and very easy to use. And also you will figure it out. My, I choose the Business Card for the sign. Go to Filter, camera Raw Filter. In this expanded geometric section. And click on guided tool. Now click and drag and create a line on the top border of the business card. Similarly do it on the bottom border as well. It will straighten the card horizontally. Do the same on the right and left. Now we get actual top view of the card by just clicking some few points. Isn't that amazing? That's the reason why we use a signature for the business card. Hit. Okay, let's remove the unwanted area, take the crop tool and create a selection inside the card. Click on tick. So now we have prepared a signature image. Let's meet you in the next part. 3. Refine The Signature: In this part, we will refine the signature. The signature and the background is looking to dollars. So we're going to add the contrast so that we can refine it more. To do that, add an adjustment layer of curves. Now scroll down the properties of curves and slide the black arrow to the right. It will increase the overall input value of plaque because we need to make the signature darker. I'll drag the white arrow to the left. It will increase the lightness value. Because the space between black and white arrow is very small, it will create a contrast. Let's close the gap between them. Now this is looking very prominent. Now while holding Shift to select the background layer, right-click flattened image. Now the adjustment is merged with the background layer. Let's make it black and white. Go to Image Adjustments. Black and white. Hit. Okay. The reason why I made it black and white is because black color is very prominent on white color and it is very easy to see any flaw or any shape distortion. Just like here we can see the edges are not smooth. They are zigzag. To fix this. Go to Filter, stylize all paint. This dilation value to five and cleanliness also five. It will make our edge smooth. You can see it by checking or unchecking the preview option. Hit Okay. Now we have successfully refined the signature. Let's meet you in the next part. 4. Make It Non Destructive: In this part, we will make the signature non-destructive. If you are confused about non-destructive part, let me tell you. Being non-destructive means it will be a vector. It will not get pixelated no matter how much you scale it. So to create a vector, open the channels tab. Click on Load channel as selection icon. It will automatically create a selection of the image, but we only want to select the signature. To do that, we need to inverse the selection. Let's zoom out by pressing Control Minus. Go to select inverse. It will make a selection of the signature. Now open the Paths tab and click on load path as a selection icon. It will convert our selection into path. But here we can see some unwanted parts. Maybe it will not happen to you, but if it happens, let me tell you how to fix it. Take the direct selection tool and create a selection on the unwanted path. Press Delete. But the selection we did earlier is gone. So how to retrieve it? Take the path selection tool and create a selection on the signature. And here we are back with the path. Now, open the Layer tab and add an additional layer of solid color. Choose whatever color you want to pick for a signature. In my case, I will choose dark blue. Hit. Okay. Now take the move to hide the background layer. And here we have about ONE non-destructive digital signature. It will not get pixelated even if we scale it down or scale it up. You can now Quick Export as PNG. Save it. Or if you want to change the dimension of the file, go to image, image size. Here, set the dimension you want. Let's set 500 pixel for now. Hit Okay. You can also export this file in any other format, like PNG, JPEG, GIF. That's how we create our own digital signature. So far, we have learned to create our own digital signature. But now we're going to level up further by converting our digital signature into a brush. If you're a graphic designer or an artist, having the brush will work like a charm for you. But just one click, you can add your sign on any artwork of yours. By doing that, you will get more exposure and your artwork relate to your identity. To make the part mode interesting, I will use a different approach that I've done previously. So first opened the signature image and to make the view accurate this time we will use perspective crop tool. It's very easy to use. Click full points and make a rectangle. Then click on taking the header. And that's it. We have already the top view of the signature. Now we will define the signature. Added just one layer of curves. Increases the dark arrow to the right and y true to the left, just like we did previously. Actually, there are other techniques as well, but this is one of the most accurate one. Now add additional layer of black and white. There are some guidelines that you need to follow to create a perfect brush. First, there shouldn't be any patches like this one, but it cannot be removed without merging all the layers has one. So while holding Control, select all layers. Right-click Merge Layers. Let's take the brush tool. Right bracket will increase the size of brush, increase it. Choose the color white and paint over on the dark patches. Here we need to set the hardness to full and little bit decrease the size to get clean look. Now, take the crop tool, make a selection only on the signature. Click on. Let's Move the assignment. Go to Filter, Stylize, oil paint, the sides five-fourths, dilation and cleanliness. Hit okay. Now we're ready to create the brush. Go to Edit and click on Define Brush Preset. Give it a name you want. I will let it be as it is. It. Okay? And that's it. Your brushes created with left bracket key, you can reduce the size of brush. Choose the color black, and click one time. By clicking multiple times, you can create multiple signs. Let me show you how it works on your artwork. This is a photo manipulation that I created ten years ago. So if I want to add or assign to the color white, add a new layer and just click one time. You can click anywhere and it will automatically appear as your sign. Let me tell you how to save this pressure as well. Open the brush option by right-clicking. Now again, right-click on the signature brush and select Export Selected pressures. You can now save it anywhere you want. Nimitz signature brush. Now, it will be saved as signature brush dot ABR. Abr is the extension of brushes used in Photoshop.
