1. Intro: Hi. My name is Matiaz. Welcome to this class. I'm drawing of the experience of creating hundreds of hundreds of video on all the social media platform, mostly in the Talking Head style video format. What is the talking head video? Well, it's just someone talking to the camera, like what I'm doing just right now. It can be in the 16 to nine ratio like this or in the nine to 16 ratio like this, which will cover most into this class. I'm super excited to teach this class because I know from my own experience when I started out how difficult it can be to just start if you don't know how. In this course, we will cover everything you need to know to start. Equipment, planning, recording, editing, upload, we cover it all. So on the end of the class, you have your first video ready to publish. Why you should make talking head videos you may ask? Why you can use it to grow your brand on social media, to create a personal brand, maybe, or to generate leads to drive most sales. For both is video working perfectly. Best is, you only need a smartphone to start. I'm excited to see you in the first lesson. 2. What do you need?: Let's talk about equipment. I mean, everybody likes equipment, right? At least I do. A lot of times I get the question. Hm is, what do I need to start with filmmaking, with video creation? My answer is always use what you have. You don't need a fancy camera at the beginning, use your phone because I'm sure your phone have a four K camera. I think since I don't know, five, six years, every phone have a four K camera, so use that and save the money if you have some. If you do have I don't know, 5600 euros, I would recommend get you the DJI Osmo pocket is like a little pocket camera with the integrated gimble. You can work, make blocks if you want to and also make really good videos with that one. The most important thing in my opinion for videos is the sound. You can have the best visual if our VO is crab, nobody want listen to you. So how do you can start? Well, one option is a shortcut microphone. You attach it on your gimble with your camera, plug it in, if you use your phone, get on your phone, you get adapter to insert into your phone, and you're good to go. The other option is, use a W B microphone for your computer, also get an adapter for your phone, and you can go like in a new speaker style. But my personal favorite is the wireless La lier microphone. I use this one from DJI. It's a little bit pricey. If you want to start out, I recommend get you one from these. It's an name brand. It costs like 50 years. You have a transmitter, plug it into your phone, you have a wireless microphone attach it to your clothes, and you're good to go. If you have your audio fix it, get you some light if you have some budget left. I recommend for the beginning some LD panels from Amazon. It's also nonme brand, they cost like 40 or 50 bucks a double puck with two, and you put one left one whit. I recommend you have one light brighter than the other, have a little contrast in your face. If you have some budget left, you can get one of a battery powered LD panel, what can also change colors, forget some Amienight. I don't think you need to fancy background to start, as you can see here. This is my normally workplace. If you feel more comfortable with a clean place, go to a wide wall and set up your equipment there, and you're good to go. So that is about equipment, not so difficult. 3. Natural Light: Instead of using lamps and lights, you also can use natural light, the daylight, sunlight. One option is you go front of a window like I'm right now. I don't like this way because this is just too bright and too plain in the face. I prefer to have the light like in 45 degrees coming into my face, so I have a little contrast that one side of my face is darker than the other side, but that's just my preference. Of course you can do however you want. Another option is to go outside, maybe even more in the nature in a forest and make you be used there. The proson cons in using daylight, the process is a tree. It's already there, but the con it's not super reliable because Imaging you're in the middle of a video and just a big cloud goes in front of the sun and suddenly your light is changing and it look weird. Have proson cons, but just try it out and then you know what is your preference. 4. Class Project: As a project, I want to see your video. Upload a link to your social media platform where you posted it in the project gallery. I will comment every video and we'll give you some feedback. I can't wait to see yours. 5. Plan and Skript: L et's plan your video. Imagine you're a dog trainer, and you want to make a video about dog training. One video idea could be how to teach your dog to go how to teach your dog to go for the stick to catch the stick. Now you have the idea, and I recommend you write down every word from your idea from how you want present your idea in the camera, word for word, and try to aim for approx 30 seconds. I think this is a good middle ground. And important try to be natural as possible in your speech. Don't change the words for Sound more Smart or something like that. If you struggle with the natural word, just make yourself what's a voice note and after you have the voice note, just write down what you said in this voice note. Trust me, have a script makes you feel so, secure in front of the camera. So sit down and write your script and I'll see you in the next video. 6. Recording: Finally here recording your video. I'm just going to show you my setup in the middle. I have here my camera on my left. I have the left light, on the right, the other light. And as you can see, the left light is a little bit brighter than the other. To give my face a little bit of contrast to make it not like plain white wash boring. Also, as you can see, I have here white, I have here a blue background light for have a little bit interesting stuff in my video. I recommend you record with four k and 30 FPS, 30 frames per second. I know I know 24 25 is more cinematic, but platforms like Instagram and TikTok convert the video into 30 frames per second anyway, so it doesn't make sense to let instagram change it better you record it for the best possible quality. When you're sitting down in your chair like in my case, I recommend you activate the grid, this lines on your camera and and try to have your eyes on the upper from this horizontal line, to the best ratio in your videos. Just click record. Do your script. Doesn't matter if you make mistakes. I I recommend you record your video three times at least because the first time and second time, going to be weird. But with the third or maybe fourth, you're going to be better, going to feel more safe. If you have a mistake doesn't matter, repeat the whole sentence again and cut out later in the editing all the sentence a mistake, and nobody won't notice. So have fun and I see you in the next video. 7. Editing: So, let's talk about editing. You've recorded the video and now you want to edit it to put out some mistakes, some misspoken stuff. You name it. So, you can use at a lot of video editing tools. There are so many on the market. I personally use premium pro. I think it's a really good tool, but it's not free. Went around and looked what you can use for free. And I found CP cut. It's from TikTok and have a desktop version and the phone version. We are here on the desktop version because I think the phone is a little bit not so handy. So what do you do? You take your clip and drag and drop it here into the timeline. Let's generate the timeline and let's hear it. Hey, this is a test video for you can see that this is a test video for I have to edit something I'm going to put out. So as you can see, I have there's some mistakes. That's not a problem for that. We're here in the editing part. So let's go again and look where to start again. Test video. Video. This is a test video for you can see that test. So I would say here, make a cut. In the CAP CAT app, you have here some different options to cut. You can cut normally, but also you can cut and delay the left or the right part. I think that is most easy because then you don't need to edit manually. In this case, I want to delay the left part, so I click here. Is the test video for I have to edit something I'm going to cut out. This part for. So now we want to cut out this part where I say, I want to cut out this part. So now we click here. Let's say here. Something I going to we can do it together. And at the end, we're going to both on video ready. So state. And I also can delay this one for have on example. This is a short video that could be almost ready to publish. You can create subtitles. I think Captions is a better name. Unfortunately, PCAT removed this from the free version. But there's little to work around. You can export this video here. Go into the Teco app in the normal Teo CAPCt. Go into the editing part, and then you can create automates, and then you can create automatic subtitles for free, and then download it again. Yeah. I know it's a little bit double work. But if you want to have automatic subtitles, this is the only free way what I found out. If you have any idea, just let me know. But we can add here some music if we want to just look here and see what is free. For example, mo song lyrics, we drag it below your video. We also go here. And delay the part if we don't need anymore. As we can see the volume is much too high, so we just go down. Maybe -25 is good. That is, and that's it. I mean, we could make a lot more if we want to, we could make animations, stickers, MODs, whatever. But for just get into it, get it done, I think. That is a good way to make a video. Now we only export here. I would say stay with the settings, click export, and you're good to go. 8. Upload: So UF VD ready. Now you can upload it in all the different platforms in I recommend do it in all the platforms, what support video. So TikTok Instagram wheel, YouTube shorts, and Link it in, if you have to. So these are four platforms where you can have is one time the work four times the output. I think that's pretty cool. You can upload it manual in all the apps, click upload. That's the problem at all. But if you want to make your life a little bit easier, I recommend you use one from the schedule platforms. They are paid and also freed version, from a dope. It's free, I think. L et me check out. I'm going to show you here if it's re or not. Also, I personally use queer square Queer square. I think it's pronounced more or less like that. So you upload one time video and this platforms spread your video in all the different platforms without it open all the different apps. That is pretty cool. But of course, if you don't want to use that, you also can do it in all the apps, that's a problem. There is no problem at all. And that's it. You have your video published. 9. Congratulation: Congratulations. You have now your first video online. How does it feel? I'm sure it's feel pretty good, right. So now it's important to stay on track. I mean, of course, you could say, yeah, I did one video and I do the next next year, but you don't go to achieve any result with that. The perfect scenario would be daily videos. But I know there's a lot of work. So I'm currently with my own schedule like three times in the week, and I recommend to do like batch video to do it in batches. That means don't go ahead and sit down every day or every three days, every two days, whatever, and record added upload. No, I recommend you sit down on one day. For example, I do it on Sundays, and you make the videos or at least record the videos for all the next week in the batch. Because you have one time you're setup ready, so use it. Make three, four, five, reduce, how much you can do. And you don't need to add it all right now. You can jump it up and make it a little steps. But I recommend to do it in the batches. 10. Outro: I really hope this course was helpful to you. Please leave me a review here on Skillshare. And if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me. Maybe I see you in the next course. But
