1. Create Shaker Tag Ornaments with your Dies Class: Hello and welcome to the
shaker tag ornament class. My name is Cheryl and I'll
be teaching this class. In this class, I'm
going to share with you how I like to use some of my dies and
a little bit of a different way and create
some Shaker tags out of them. They're great for
adding two gifts. And then after they're done
being used as gift tags, you can use some
mystery ornaments. Let's go take a
look at what we're going to create in this class. These are the five
tags that we're gonna be creating in this class. We're going to first
take one that is intended to be completely
see-through and open. And we're going to close
the back of it and put some acetate
in the front and create a shaker card like that. You can write your message on
the back of it if you want. And they all have hanky
loops on them to use this tree ornaments
or even to help you adhere your tag to your gift. Then we're going to take
a wreath dye that has just come out and use that
to create a shaker card. With that, The Snowman card is a little note
card that opens up. And we're gonna, I'm
gonna show you how to open up the center of it to create a shaker
card with that. And I'll walk you through each
one of these step-by-step. Now you don't
necessarily have to have shaped ornaments
to do that. You could do them with
just simple circles and put in your
own little scene. I created a little
winter scene here with Santa and slake
going over top. Now this sentence, lays
is the same one that was used in the
first card there. And then finally,
this cute little nutcracker or toy soldier. He is also a little note
card that you can use as a gift tag and then an
ornament to afterwards. So I'm going to show
you how to do all of these ornaments step-by-step. This class also includes a
downloadable PDF that has pictures of each one of
the finner samples as well as the supplies
used to create them. The supplies are also linked
to where you can purchase them and have them
delivered right to your home if you choose. But I encourage you to
also take a look at this dice and the supplies
that you have and just see which ones
you can create shaker cards out of because
they're really fun and they're a great way to just add an interactive element to them and they're really
fun to play with. Also great for kids. These are all holiday versions, but they definitely don't
need to be limited to that. You can make them
for any occasion. And they're just fun to
give, make, and receive. Now let's go create
some Shaker tags.
2. Snow globe Shaker Tag: Cutting & Colouring Part 1: Alright, so the first card, or shake or tag ornamental
you're going to make is this cute little
guy right here. Now, it's a snow globe
ornament intended to look like a snow globe. All of the pieces have
openings in them, but I'm going to turn
it into a shaker card. I've got most of the
pieces that I cut. I'm using ford separate
dies, doorsteps here. But you could just
narrow it down to a couple and then say
flip the hills or whatever and just alter
it so that you didn't use quite as many dyes
if you wanted. But man, That's adorable. Alright, so very first step, this is the back of the
shaker snow globe whatnot. So I'm going to die cut this. Yes, there's some ink on here, but this is not
gonna be die cut. And the window part of the back, it gets cut out when I die cut. So I'm going to end up putting another piece because of
the snow globe thing. I'm going to end up
putting another piece behind it because I want to do my Skype heart rate in there so that it is in there for good and it's not
going to fall out obviously, while we're using our ornaments or hanging or ornaments or
creating tags, whatnot. So the very first
thing, this one here, this Backer has lions and it's meant to line up the
tabs to layer these. Now I want to cut
this section off here because by using that, I have to be stuck with my
foam tape and I'd have to layer it too high in order to
make it match those pieces. And I also don't want to have an ornament that's
super, super thick. So I'm going to use the
first cut line and cut that. I'm going to keep
that and put that on the front part of my ornament. And now I have a little piece of Painter's tape here or die tape. I'm just lining my side
of the ornament here. I want to actually move this, it's a little bit too high. What I want to do is
I want to have this bottom one here lined up with the first score line. It's pretty much at
the end of my tremor. But what I wanna do
is I want to trim all of them and I want to
have them all the same. So that's why I'm putting the
tape here and lining it up. So that is all the same. I'm getting that side with
this side of my tremor. And then lining up my
edge here with the top. I'm going to do that
for all of these. Then the last one
here. There we go. So we've got all of those
trimmed the same length. Now I'm just going to move this two right here for a moment. I'm going to ink my
bottom piece here. And this is going
to be the back, it's going to be the sky. So I'm using some shaded lilac, some saltwater taffy and
some uncharted Mariner. I like this
combination for skies. Going to start at
the bottom with assaulted taffy,
saltwater topics. I knew as soon as I said
it, I said the wrong thing. I'm using dye inks
to blend for this. You could absolutely use oxide inks or a different
brand if you prefer, or your choice for inking skies. It doesn't have to be
these ones at all. These just the ones that
I quite like together. Normally, I'd put
my lids right above my pads so I knew which color was what
would not make a mistake, but I don't want to
accidentally get some ink transferred
onto those pieces there. So we'll just keep
taking them on and off. And I'm just going to
take this violet color and just put it up a little bit. I'm trying to get just a
little bit of an arc there. Turn this around so that I'm
working on the right end. This uncharted Marriner. I love this color for the
dark part of the sky. And you wanna be
pretty liberal with your inks when
your ink blending. Make sure you get nice coverage. So I do go back into my
pad quite regularly. I'm going to go back
and just blend again with the first two just to get a really nice ink blend between all of the colors there. I'm going to move
it over because I probably have some salt. What are some uncharted
Marriner on my mat here, and I don't want to
accidentally grab some of that. So make sure to do this in
a different area. Perfect. Tuck those ink pads to the side. Just going to this
isn't what it's dry, but I just want to pick
up any ink that might be there so that I don't get
it onto anything else. Now what I wanna do with this
is I want to put this on a different piece
of card stock and glue the backing as well
as the sky piece in there. And then I'm just
going to trim it by hand because I want
those join together. This is also going to
give the ornamental little bit more stability. I'm gonna glue them on and then I'm just going
to leave them there to dry and I'll trim it off
once everything is dry. It's also going to give a
nice back to the ornament as well. There we go. There we go. And I'm going to put
an acrylic block on here just so that that holds
that down while it dries. It's not going to move anyways, but I just want to make sure that it is down
really, really well. So next part I'm going to take is my background pieces here. And I'm going to
just ink the trees. Now, if I were to just
leave it like this, I would likely get ink
all over the place. So what I'm going to do
is take some dye Tate. And I'm just going to protect the pieces that I
don't want inked. And I'm not trying to get
really dark green trees here. I'm just wanted lightly inked. So I'm just going to
add a little bit of ink and then move this. I'm trying to keep
that snow part white. And really when
I'm inking these, I'm trying to basically get the bottom of my trees darker. The top of them. I'm like I'm leaving
them lighter. Just so that'll kinda
looks like maybe snow is falling on that has fallen
on the top of them. No need to rethink your blending brush frequently during this because I'm not trying to get a lot
of ink on there. We just want to get some color. I mean, this probably
would look really, really pretty as well
in a lot of whites. But I do think it
would look nice with just some color in there. There we go. You can see I'm reusing that same
tape over and over again. There's no point in getting
new tape every single time. It can absolutely be re-used. There we go. I will though take this now that
I've used it several times with green and I'll toss it just so that I
don't accidentally have or get picked up some
green. With my other colors. Grab wet wipes, clean this off, and then dry it off so that
I don't have moisture here. Just trying hard not to get any ink transfer between
the different colors.
3. Snow globe Shaker Tag: Colouring & Assembling Die Cut Elements: Alright, so these
are all the colors, are all the things
that I need to ink. First one I'm going to
do is the sky here. So I'm just gonna get
this guy the clouds. I'm just gonna get grey pad and I'm just putting a tiny little bit of
shadow underneath. Barely noticeable. But it'll add some definition
in there and dimension. And then I also want
to get a little bit of gray on this little
smoke part four. The house. There is my house
piece and front of it. So this part here,
I'm going to ink yellow as if there are
lights on in the house. There we go. Don't need
a really bright yellow. Just a little bit
of a glow is good. Now some bits I'm
doing with distress and can blending
in a little bit. You'll see I'm using markers to help color so
you could take this in ink, the whole thing with
markers if you wanted. I just like sometimes the
ink lending with ink pads, it gives a bit of a softer look. You just get some
darker edges so it almost naturally shades itself. We go. Now I'm going to glue the front of the
house onto the back so that it's all ready for me
when I want to put it into my shaker. There we go. I had a little bit of or one of the pieces from the inside of the window head and actually
dropped completely out. There we go. That's better. Then that door. I don't want it to be red, so I'm going to take a Copic marker and I'm
going to color it. You could use any marker for this database marker
would totally work fine. This just happens to be what I have sitting
on my desk here. The one thing you wanna do with it though, is you
want to be very, very gentle. And be careful. You've got some
guidelines there with the cutting line as to
where it starts and stops. So I like to try to
stay within that. And then I'm going to
glue my smoke on here. And then leave that
aside here to dry. Perfect. Then the last thing here
is I have some snowman. I'm not going to use
all of the snowman. I'm just going to
use bits and pieces. So I want to use
the Top Hat here, so I'm going to color it black. Again, any markers
would work for this. I'm just choosing
a Copic markers because they were What
happens to be here, but diabase markers would
absolutely work here. I'm going to do some
brown on the arms and I'm only using this guy
here and this one here. And they come with
these dyes there, so they're not separate. I'm dyes like this one
here is part of this one. So this one, you
get the backing, you get the cloud, and
you get the snowman. This one is just a
backing and a cloud. And this one here, you've
got this horse or sorry, Stan and slay and the house. Alright, I want a
little carrot nose. This guy here, it's not
actually put right into there, but I want to add it. And then the last
thing I wanna do is just give them some black eyes, as well as the little buttons. There. There we go. Alright, so all of that
stuff is ready to go. Actually, I'm going to
assemble the snowman here. Well, my little pop up my pieces and get them
assembled so that they are all blue together when
I am ready for them. So what's going to help with
this as some tweezers to hold them because
some of these pieces are really quite tiny. I'm using distress
collage medium to glue these pieces in. Just because if anything
happens to seep out, it is going to be clear
and it's going to be Matt, you're never gonna know
there's glue there. And some of these
pieces like here, I got some glue radon
to the snowman. Some of these pieces are
so tiny that it's hard to get just the tiniest little
bit of glue in there. Alright, there we go. And while we are going to
wait for something to dry, I'm just going to add little bit of red stimulus for
the trim on his hat. And I'm going to give
this guy a little hat. I didn't choose any
of the hats that were included with them because
they tended to be quite big. I wanted his little to
just be a tiny thing. There we go. Alright. We're
going to let all of that dry and I'll see you in the next video and start
putting it together.
4. Snow globe Shaker Tag: Assembly the Bottom 2 Layers of the Tag: Alright, so our bits
and pieces have all dry so we're ready
to start assembling. So first thing I'm
gonna do is cut this off of that backing, just following the die cut line. There we go. So that is already. Then the next thing I need
to do is I need to put a little acetate
window in the front. Otherwise our shaker
bits are going to fall out and that would
not be very good. I'm just going to take
some double-sided tape, run it through here. There's gonna be some
creases where the embedding the tape
that's totally fine. If you have time to
wait for glue to dry, you could also use the distress collage medium and glue it. But I'm just choosing to do double-sided tape
because it's a lot quicker and I don't
have to wait for it to dry. There we go. Take the backing off. Those creases in the tape
are not going to affect the acetate sticking in
any way, shape, or form. Alright. It doesn't need to be
covering the whole back. Just as long as it covers
that window, we're good. You can even use some recycled
packaging for the acetate. The main thing to
make sure though if you're using
recycled packaging is sometimes the recycle packaging has a lot of scratches in it. So you want to make
sure that you don't have a bunch of scratches in it so that you get a
nice clear window. But it is a great way to reuse something that would
otherwise be thrown out. There we go. Alright, I'm just
going to put this guy. This is the piece that we cut off the back that was to wrap around and go to the front. If you were to use it in the traditional way the
die was intended for, I'm just going to
glue it to the front. It's just going to
give it an extra hill. There we go. And then
while we're at it, I'm just going to
glue the snowman to the front just so that they can sit and dry while we're assembling the rest of the card. You can certainly wait till the end though and glue
them on afterwards. But we might as
well have them on there and let that
glue start drawing. It's probably not gonna glue
completely to be by the time we're done the end,
but it'll be enough. There we go. Took that to the side. Alright, so we have
our back here. We're going to, this
is the tallest hill, so we're gonna be putting
this onto the back. So I'm gonna put my adhesive on the back of here
so that I can put some behind the hill here. And I'm using some
thin foam tape. You want to make
sure that it's thin enough so that you're
not going to see those pieces of the foam tape
in front of your window. And this stuff here,
it's thin enough that it curves quite easily. We're gonna be doing
this on each of the layers so that we get some dimension between the different parts
of our snow globe. When you put the two
pieces together, you want to make sure that
there's not an opening there. You want to make sure that
it's completely closed off. This is an extra piece there. I'm just going to put
some in the center. Any of my smaller pieces, I'm going to put there
so that they can help support those bits
and pieces there. Then once again with
the bottom piece, I like to go right
to the edge of the next piece of foam tape. Just gonna give it a nicer
look on the outside. Another scrap piece of their take the backing off and glue
those two layers together. Sometimes those vaccines
don't want to come off. But you can always use a dye
pick to help pick them off, or a pair of tweezers
to help pick it off. You'll find some will have to fight with a little
bit more than others. There we go. And I
see now that we lost our saltwater taffy
color, but that's okay. So before I go to
my next layer on, I wanted to put
one of the clouds. And for this I'm just going
to use a little bit of the distress collage
medium around the curve. And the curve is pretty close
to the curve on the die. If it goes a little
bit and that's okay, we're putting the next
layer on it anyways. So this one here
is the next layer. I'm going to put tape on it, same as the first one. I'm not putting the tape
like rate up to the edge. I want to give it a
little bit of leeway. So I want to say it's maybe like a 16th of an inch from the edge. But if you'd prefer to put it to the edge, you absolutely can do this part first. You want to make
sure there's not any openings in this foam tape. Otherwise, you're going to have bits that are going to come out that are going to
fall out of your shaker. And we're trying
not to have that. If by chance you
find an opening, you can put it a little bit
of distress collage medium in there and that will
help close it up. All right, I'm starting
to get a little piece here and put it in here. I ended up using my little
bit on the side there. And you can absolutely do that. This isn't a huge area to
worry about needing support, but I definitely
want to make sure that it has some support to it. It's also a great way
to use up some of those excess pieces,
those little bits. You don't have a ton of joins. I go, this one goes
right in here. Now before I put
my next cloud on, I have my little hanger here
and I'm just going to put some double-sided tape
there and put that in there so that it's between
the layers of foam. But I want to put some
double-sided tape for it to stick to. Not just rely on
the wet adhesive. I'm going to use on
the Clouds there. I have a little knot
at the end so that the ends don't
accidentally slip out. And I want my Cloud
to hide that. There we go. And once again, it pretty much follows the curve
of the snow globe. If by chance you
have a little bit going in, that's totally fine. The next layer is going
to cover that anyways, I'm just gonna put my
acrylic blocked there to hold that in place while I'm putting my adhesive
on this next part. But before I do that, I have a little jar of glass beads here that I'm
going to use this, uh, wait, I want to put my
house here so that I don't forget to get that
between the layers. A little bit on the bottom of the house and a little
bit on the smoke part is going to go in front
of the clouds there. Now I'm going to
put my block on. The beads are just going
to help hold it down.
5. Snow globe Shaker Tag: Finishing the Tag Assembly : Hold it down. This piece here is
lifting up because of the bulk from the knots. And I want to just make sure that I have
something to hold it down. You could also just
hold it down yourself. But I also want to
kind of continue on and not sit there holding it. You can see it's really
quite an easy thing to put together between the
die cut and the inking. But it just looks so adorable. And it'd be such a cute thing on like to use as a gift tag on a gift or even have it just
as an ornament for your tree. Actually put that one down and use a new piece
there so that it goes all the way across. By putting the
adhesive are putting this foam on these bottom
parts of the hills. What I'm doing is making sure that the shaker bits stay
where you can see them. If I didn't put adhesive
to the bottom here, all of those shaker bits
would fall in there. And yes, you could shake
them to bring them out. But it's one of those things. You see them, you can kinda see right away that you
need to shake it. Just a fun way to add a
little interactive element to a gift tag. And also nice that it
has a second life, using it as an ornament rather than just being tossed away. We never like our
creations being tossed. Alright, I'm taking the
backing of the tape off here. Before I glue this onto the
front of that next layer, I want to add my
shaker bits in there. So this is just doing
this so that it is ready. We go, take my beads off. I got a little bit
of ink transfer from my hands on there. But again, the next layer
is going to cover it. So I just, I collect little
jars of bits and bobs. So these guys here, I got them just because
I really liked the jars. Sometimes I like the bits
in them and sometimes I like the things that
are carrying them. So I've just got some
little holographic stars and snowflakes array
and silver snowflakes. These are just ones that I had punched out with a
snowflake punch I had. If you can find it, you could also use
Snowflake confetti. It's just not the
right time of year and the only stuff that I have is
really, really, really big. And that to me is
just far too big for this little card here. You can add as much or as
little shaker bits as you want. I usually like to add just
a few different ones. There's a bit of
variety and then I'm just going to put some
Micah flakes in here. These are just flakes that just have a
really pretty shimmer. There we go. Now. Put this on here. Hold it down, make sure to press that tape down before you start shaking it because if
you happen to shake it ahead of time and that
tape hasn't stuck, then it was a good chance some of your bits are going
to fall out of your card, just going to add some glue
to the back of the deer. Now, there is a
little hole here that gets dicot when you
die, cut this die. I'm trying to hide
that with one of the deer bodies because it's not something
that we're going to use with this card. All right. I'm just going to put
that there for a moment to hold that down rather than actually hold it
down with my hands. Just going to take
some sticklers, add a little bit to the
top of these hills. I didn't bother doing it
on the inside of the car. There's enough going on there. But I just thought it
would be really cute to have some sparkle on the front of the card tag. And then I want to add little red circles dot
to the front ears, nose. I like to do that just
because to me, that's Rudolf. Just adds a little
red circle there. And then the last thing I wanna do is I have a gold gel pen. I'm just going to put some
of the details of the sleigh in just the top there. And then the rains just adds a little bit
of a gold detail to it. No, this isn't stuck right down, so I do need to hold that. And then I have my smoke here that came out because I didn't need to use
the whole piece. I'm just going to
trim that down. But there we go. Very cute. Shake your card tag ornament. And you can do writing on the back or whatnot if you want.
6. Wreath Shaker Tag: Die Cutting & Wreath Assembly: Alright, so the next
time we're going to do shake or tag
is this one here. And I actually wanted the
bell to move a little bit, so I'm going to
adjust it for this. And hopefully it will
move a little bit. The very first step obviously is to die cut all of our pieces. And this is how I like
to lay things out before die cutting them. I like to get an a piece of card stock that's big
enough and put the dyes on the actual card stock that I want to cut out with
that particular die. And that way I have
everything laid out, but I know exactly what needs
to be die cut out of what, and it keeps things
nice and organized. Now, once I've die cut it, I'll keep that same
die with the dye cut. And then I'll put them away
while I'm assembling them. I just go through my pieces. I could cut more than one piece
at a time if I wanted to, just because they are
all separate dye cuts. And usually several will fit on the plate of the die as well. Some of these are
obviously a little bit more tricky to get
out of the card stock. Not because they haven't cut, but because like
this one here has all the spines from
the centers of the Holly and they like to get caught on each other
as I'm pulling them out. So some will take a
little bit more patients to get out than others. In any of those bits
that are stuck in there, you can just use a dye pick. Sometimes I'll use
a just a thumbtack as well if you don't
happen to have a dipole. But this is a pretty handy
tool that I use very often. So I'm just going to go and
die cut all of these off camera so that you're
not watching me die cut everything and I'll
be back in a moment. Alright, my pieces are cut out. So this is from a new colorized die that
just came out this fall. And I absolutely loved it. I loved the colorized
dies anyways. But I really like Christmas
ones and Christmas reason. And it's just sometimes you like to feel like
coloring and sometimes it's just fun to die cut different colored
pieces and glue them together and create
something really, really cool. We'll leave the cap off my glue. Now, what I'm doing here, There's this unique
little jog in here and I'm matching those
up to put my layers together. Now, these the glue that I'm using is
distressed collage medium. So if I happen to shift anything while I'm
putting it together, the glue is going to
dry completely clear. And it is also going to dry mat. So you're not going to
see where that glue is. Once again, there's
that little jog there and I just
find it easier to find a specific spot on
this dye to match up. And the hardest
pieces to join or to put down are these ones here. So I'm going to be
cheating off of my sample. Because when I put
my sample together, actually put some together
in the wrong spot. But what I found
out is it's much easier to place them if you figure out where the
biggest pieces go first, then then put the smaller pieces in after you've got
those big pieces. You can also use the cover of your packaging of your dye
that will really help as well. And I found it helped
with this one for sure. Alright, Now this piece here, back behind here, I believe. There we go. This right there has a mismatches
that part right there. So I did eliminate a few of the layers from this diet just because I don't think they're needed for this
particular project, as well as the fact that
I figured it would save a little bit of
time for assembly. But you can absolutely add
to them on the only reason I eliminated them, simply time. That's it. For
this one actually, I was matching it down there, but it actually goes up here. This one here goes
in, right in there. But you see how once you've got the bigger pieces and
it's a little bit, it eliminates some of the
spots for the other ones, so it makes it a little
bit easier to show you exactly where
those other pieces go. This one here would be
this piece right in there. If you wanted, you
could even eliminate this last piece if that
was too frustrating, whatever you could
eliminate that, you could also ink these
pieces to get some depth. That way. I just chose to
do it this way instead. So I actually have my bot
here already out of my die. I didn't do it in
the traditional red. I did it in a pinky
toned burgundy red. And again, there is a third
layer to this bow as well. I just found it wasn't necessary for this particular project, so I left it off. Go, put that on top there. Then we've got these berries. Now these berries, I'm using
two of the three pieces that come with it. There is a third layer which
actually doesn't outline. And once again, I didn't
find it necessary for this project is because I'm making a single project or a single shaker tag
ornament out of it. But you certainly could use the third layer
if you want it. I'm just going to move
these to the side there. So there's one berry here that has a solid
and then there's another barrier that has
little hole out of it. So what I did was I'm gluing barry with the whole over top of the one
without and it just puts a little kind of
a highlight in there. Then what I've done with them, and you could wait until your pieces completely
together to do this. But sometimes,
especially if I'm gonna do a bunch of things at a time, I'll do steps ahead of time and let them sit and dry so that it's
completely ready. When I'm done, I put some glossy accents on there
just to make those barriers glossy and then put
them aside to dry. So I'm just doing these
two for now because I actually have some that
are completely done. I'm not lifting that
one up, but you can see how it's got a
frosty look to it. Once it dries, it'll be nice and clear like
this and shiny. So let's move those out of the way just so that
I don't accidentally get accidentally put
something on top of it.
7. Wreath Shaker Tag: Assembling the Bell: Now let's put our Bell together. The way that I had
done the bell for the sample was I had put a cord through the
top once the bell was completely done and tried to
hang it and it didn't work. So what I'm gonna do for
this one is I'm going to assemble my bell and
then I'm going to put a cord between the bell and this card stock here and just
have a single one going up. And hopefully that lets it
move a little bit more than, well, let's hit Move
period compared to the one that I
have in my sample. We shall see, even
if it doesn't move, it's still really cute. I just thought it
would be really cute to shake your card and have the bell move
while you're doing it. Just make that a little way. This bell is a lot
easier to put together. Then the holly on the reef. There are some in dense right where
the different pieces lay on top of each other, so that makes it a little
bit easier to assemble them. And the way this bell Is, it just has a ton
of dimension to it, which I really, really like. You'll notice I keep my dies with my pieces before
I assemble them. And that's basically
so that if by chance, I'm second guessing
what a piece is, I have the dire nearby and can tell exactly
where it goes. I typically only
need to do that for the first couple of times,
putting something together. Once I've put it together
a couple of times, I typically don't need
to do that anymore. Then there's some pieces
that I didn't even bother to tiny little dots
here that go in there. I just didn't even
bother gluing them on because I didn't
think it took anything away from the bell by not
having them in there. This little piece here, it goes on the side of the bill. And then piece goes on there. Alright, so now that we have
all those pieces together, I'm just going to let
all that glue dry. And then in the next video, we're going to assemble
our bell and just assemble our card and put everything together, including the shaker.
8. Wreath Shaker Tag: Assembly & Accents: Alright, so my glue is dry on the bell especially and the rest of it because
it was done before time. One thing I wanna do before
I do anything else is I want to add a little bit of
foundry wax to that bell. So Foundry wax is a
liquid leafing wax. Rather than doing this bell with a bunch of
different metallics, trying to get some different
textures in there. I did it all with the
same one when I'm taking the foundry wax
and putting it on there. And it doesn't look
too impressive when you first put it on there. But you need a heat gun and the heat gun
is going to bring that leafing wax to the surface. Make the magic happen basically, let me get my tweezers
here to hold this. So the reaction is almost
like when you're embossing, you see something go
for a matte too shiny, you see the leafing
come to the surface. But it just has a really,
really cool effect on this. We just take some paper
towel and dry this off. And the leaving Wax itself
dries super, super quick. So it's dried on my surface. They are really,
really quick and then it just cleans
off with rubbing alcohol or even a baby
wife if it's not dry yet, I'm just gonna put some
double-sided tape on this bell so that we can add
little hanger. I just have a little
piece of the cord here. I'm just going to
put it on here. Then I'm going to get some of the distress collage medium to glue the rest in place just because it's a weird shape. And you can't really get
double-sided tape to go around a corner nicely and I don't want to add
any more bulk to it. So there we go. Double-sided tape is just
going to hold it in place. And then the distress collage medium is
going to help glue everything else together
while we are waiting. So I've got my back here. I just have a circle
that I cut out that is smaller than the outside, so I'm not going to see any of this from the outside here. I'm going to take my foam tape and I'm actually going to do
two layers of the foam tape. But I'm going to hang
that bell between the layers so that it has some room behind it and
some room in front of it. Now this foam tape, I'm
trying to put it as close to the edge as
possible without going over. And I also want to
make sure that I don't have any joins or any space between
where the end of one piece of foam tape goes and the beginning
of the other one. There. There we go. So to put that
little piece there, I'll use it on a
different project. I'm going to take the
backing to my foam tape off. I'm going to hang my
little bell in the center, making sure that that string
is stuck to the foam tape. I've got another one
here that's just a loop. I'm going to hang that
in a similar spot. I want to make sure
that my loop is on top and the bell is below it. It would not make sense
to have the loop to hang the ornament
on another area. And now I'm going to put a
second layer of the foam tape. I want my joins in a different
area from the first layer. Mainly because those joins are kind of openings where some of the shaker
bits could fall out. And by having the joins
in separate areas, the other layers are holding
those joints together. And then I don't end up with
a big area that has a join. This foam tape is easy enough
to get to like to turn. You can see there
are some puckers in it, but that's okay. It's still stuck and it's
still holding in place. There we go. Before I put my shaker bits in there has tried
to put it together. I'm going to glue a
piece of acetate, so it's just a square
and then I just cut off the edges here just to hold or just so
that I don't have any pieces of acetate coming
out from the outside of. You want to make sure
that this center part is also not smaller
than your whole. Otherwise you're
going to have exposed pieces of tape and
we don't want that. It will be fine there. Take the backing
off of that tape. You could only use a
liquid adhesive here to glue the acetate to
the back of the reef. But then you'd have to
wait for that to dry. For the sake of time and getting everything
done fairly quickly. I'm just using some
double-sided tape. There we go. Alright, so our wreath front
is ready and so is our back. I'm going to take that backing off of the foam tape there. I'm going to add some little
bits in our shaker part 1 s. I can't get this lid off. It's not wanting to come off. Let's use some different ones. So I'm going to
use some of these kinda little holographic stars. Some white ones here. White ones are a
little bit opalescent, so you'll still see them. See if the lid comes
off of this one E zero, that one's better.
Put that in there. So I've got exposed
tape on here. So I'm trying to only put my shaker bits on the center and not accidentally have any
going in or on top of my tape. Put a little bit of
this glitter on there. You can put as much
or as little of the shaker bits as you want. Now I want my bot to be in line with the top
of that loop there. I'm going to press this down, makes sure it's got
some good contact with the back before
I go and shake it. If it doesn't have good
contact with the adhesive, that adhesive can actually are, that those shaker
bits can come out and then they'll be stuck on the adhesive and it
just doesn't work. So the bells still doesn't
really moved too much there. But it was a great, nice
idea while it lasted. Sometimes you have
great ideas and sometimes they just don't work. So I'm just taking my
distress collage medium. I'm going to take these berries because they're totally done. I can just put them
right on there. If you hadn't done the glossy
accents on them already, you can put them on
and then put the glossy accents on afterwards. You would just need
to wait afterwards and let it dry really
well before touching it. And we're going to have
to wait a little while anyways before touching it. Because what I'm
going to do after I put the little berries on there, I'm just going to add some
stick to my holly and my bot. Just looks a little bit more finished with another
texture on there. And stickers or a
really easy way to add just a little bit of sparkle
in a little bit of texture. There we go. But the stickers will take
a lot less time to dry. Then. Then the Glossy Accents, the Glossy Accents tweet takes
quite a big, quite awhile. We go. So I'm just doing
this tickles just around, it's just a highlighted, it's not really to cover
anything in glitter, although if you
prefer that look, you certainly could do that. I just wanted to add
just a touch of sparkle. Kinda highlight the
edges of those leaves. Once again, much or as
little as you want. The one thing was
sticklers, though, the more you use, the
longer it does take to dry. So just be prepared if you're really heavy handed
with your *********. Because some people just love it and think more is better. It is going to take longer to
dry if you use a lot more. Personal preference,
typically what I do is I will put it on
my piece and I will go and do some stuff around
the house because if I have wet sticklers sitting
on something nearby, That's usually where my hand goes or that's where it
usually where I put a sec next project to dry or something or have a drying shelf or
something out of your reach. There we go. Just be careful
with this tickles, but very, very cute, really cute way to add just a fun decorative element
to a gift or a parcel. And then you can use it as
an ornament afterwards. And you can write
your message or whatnot on the back of it.
9. Snowman Shaker Tag: Die Cutting & Assembling Snowman Elements: Alright, so our
next shaker tag or an image is this
little snowman here. And he's got a folded
card inside so you can write a message
inside the card. Now the one thing I
did not do while I was making the sample was
put a hanger on him. But I'm gonna do that with this one while
I'm showing you. In order to create the
card that has the fold. I've got a piece of
card stock here that is twice the length
of my snowman. I've got it folded in half. And what I'm going to do
is put the snowman on that card with part of
the blade hanging off. And what that's gonna
do is it's going to cut everything around here, but it's not going to cut
through that part there. And then we're going to create
a card. You can do this with many, many different dyes. Some obviously will work
better than others. Some won't work at all. Because for instance,
if you had a circle, you would do and you
did it like this, you'd had no end up
having a flat part. So in order to
create that circle, you would have to put
another one on top of it, which may or may not work for whatever you're thinking of. Because I'm going
through two pieces of card stock here
and it's quite thick. I am going back and
forth a few times because I wanna make sure
to cut all the way around. It is quite thick, but this shape of the snowman
is fairly simple. So a few passes should do it. If by chance there's a spot
that hasn't been cut through, you can take some
scissors and go through that spot to get it cut
all the way through it. Like there's a spot right here. Usually a few passes
enough to do it. So there is the note card there. Now if you wanted, you
can completely eliminate the shaker part and just
do all the pieces of the snowman here and just have a snowman gift card that would be absolutely
adorable as well. But we're gonna go
one step further. And we're going to create
this guy is a shaker card, so I've got some acetate here. Now, acetate does not
like being die cut. It is going to warp and
it's going to bend. And there's not really
a way to avoid that. It also doesn't like
being cut on its own. So what I'm going to do is put a piece of card stock on top of that so that it has something
else to go through as well. And I put it through both ways also just to make
sure that it's cut. There we go. So this is the
bending I was talking about. This particular dye has
got some details in there as well that press into that acetate that also contribute to the extra
bending of it, if you will. But there's no way to avoid it. The only other way
to do this would be to say put your die cut on
top of a piece of acetate, trace it around and hand cut it. But I liked those details
pressed into there because it just adds a little
bit to the design. It also shows you
exactly where things get placed when you're
putting it together. So before I put my machine away, there's one last step
that I want to do. Now. I can't create this as a shaker obviously because
it's not see-through. Don't want to use the
acetate on its own. Because when I go to
put the foam tape, you're going to see
exactly where it is. So what we're going
to do is we're gonna take some circle dies. And we're going to cut out part of the inside to
create that shaker reveal. I've got two
different sizes here, one for his body and
one for his head. You can see I'm using tape to
hold these things in place. It's just die tapes, so
it's temporary tape. It comes off fairly easy. And you can see that I reuse
it over and over again pretty much until
it starts sticking. Or if I've used it
to mask for ink, I will regularly not use it too often because it
has ink residue on it. Alright, there we go. We have our reveal for
the front of our snowman, we can put the machine away. I've got the details of
four, shake her part. Already, cut and ready to go. What I'm going to do before we put the shaker
together as I'm just gonna put some
of the layered pieces together so that they can dry. While we're assembling
our shaker. The hat itself has two pieces, it's got a full
piece and then it's got just a little
highlight piece there. I'm going to use my
distress collage medium. Once again, I like it because it dries completely clear
and it dries matte. So if anything happens
to squish out, you're never going to
see where that glue was. I'll put that up a little bit. There's a perfect example. So I've got glue here. But once everything dries, you're never going to
see that that was there. The next thing I want to
layer is my scarf pieces. I just did green
for the lower layer and red for the
printed upper layer. This die has even more pieces in there so you can
put more layers. But because we're doing
the shaker once again, I didn't think it needed
all that extra detail. There's enough in it with just having the
layers that we do. So just because you have a
die that has a ton of layers, doesn't necessarily mean you
need to use all of them. So this bottom piece here, the green piece that I've cut, it actually cuts the fringe
to the scarf as well, but I cut it off
for two reasons. First of all, the dye
didn't cut all the way through and rather than put
it through the machine, the red goes in front of it. So you never even
going to know that it was supposed to be there. So I just cut it off. But if you'd like having
that underneath there, you can absolutely leave it on. If it doesn't cut all the way
through for the first time, realign your dye and just
put it right back through. Last thing I'm gonna do is put the little berries for
the Holly in place. There we go. I like putting a tiny one at the top and the big ones at the bottom. But it's just
personal preference. It doesn't necessarily
need to be like, Okay, now I'm going to take my dicot here and glue
it to the acetate piece. You could use double-sided
tape on here. It would absolutely
work perfect. I'm just using the
distress collage medium to let that sit and dry. It is going to take a little
bit longer to dry just because the acetate
is non porous, I'm going to put an
acrylic block on there to hold it in place. Now for our tag,
we're going to start putting our foam tape on there. And I like to go
around the edges. Actually, I'm going to
I'm gonna change my mind. I'm going to wait for
this to completely dry and then I'm gonna
put the tape there. I don't want to risk putting
tape on here and having it being exposed
with the acetate. So I'm just going
to hold off, let that completely dry. I'll
see you in a moment.
10. Snowman Shaker Tag: Assembling & Finishing Shaker Tag: Alright, alright,
adhesive is not 100% dry, but I think it's dry enough
that we can continue. I don't think it's
going to move anywhere. So this is just going to give me a better guide of what part is covered and what
part is exposed. So I know where to put the foam tape and where
to not put the foam tape. So once again, when you
have two pieces meeting, make sure that they have
a really nice join and that there's not an open space for some of your shaker
bits to fall out. And you can see I'm doing a
little bit at a time and I'm pressing down as I'm doing it just to make sure that it is stuck in
place and stuck well, this big part here doesn't need to be completely
contoured with the tape. A straight line is
totally fine there. Then I'm going to cut there. So I'm gonna do two
layers at the foam tape because the acetate buckles
from the die cutting. It goes in and there's no
way to make it push out. I really wish it would
push out so that it gave it a bit of a rounded look, but it doesn't and
I don't really, um, I'm not competent in the amount of space that one
layer of foam would give it. I want to give it a
little bit more space for their shaker bits to move
around is So I'm gonna do two layers of the foam tape. But before I put
the next layer on, I want to put my
shake my shaker. I want to put my hanger on there so that it
is stuck between those two layers of
foam tape. We go. I'm also making sure and
I've said this before, that my joints are not in the
same place for both layers. By putting them in
different places, it just makes it a
little bit stronger. It makes that join hold together by having
a different opening on the next layer. We go. Perfect. So obviously the snowman is not the only one that you
can do in this way. Take a look at your
die, is there might be different ways that you can incorporate shaker
parts to them. And it just makes it more
interesting to look at really. Alright, I'm going to take
my foam tape backing off. Before I put the two
pieces together. I'm going to put my
shaker bits in there. Now I wanna make sure to
avoid that exposed adhesive. Going to put a little bit
of micro flakes in there. I have some larger snowflake sequence that I
want to put it in there. I also have some smaller ones that I cut out with a punch. There, actually silver
and holographic, they just all happen to
be turned the wrong way. But take a look at
some of your scraps. You could also use a snowflake die to create these as well. Then I want to take
some smaller bits and pieces and put
them in there. There we go. So this is
just some silver balls. This is just some kinda
almost chunky glitter. And then these are
little holographic ones. They're actually hearts. But I just like the
holographic sparkle in there. Alright, that is enough. So I'm gonna take
my bottom part, turn it over and I'm, what I'm working on as
matching where the arms are. I want to make sure
to press it all in place before turning it around. So there we go. We have our little
shaker there and they've got enough room
to move around by having those two layers
of foam strips in there. Now, I'm just going to add
my little detail pieces. I'm going to leave
that lid off there. My hat on the scarf really
outlines for where it goes, so it makes it a
lot easier to know exactly where everything goes. Like I said, I'm not
using all the pieces to this this particular
guy also has a broom. You could put that
on there as well. I just thought it
was an extra piece that wasn't really necessary. But if it's a detail that
you love, absolutely. Put it on there. I put
the holly on their nose. Now these bigger pieces,
I just use my hands to place them, these smaller ones. And by smaller ones, I mean, I've got little dots here for
the eyes and the buttons. Those ones I'm gonna
put the dots of glue rate on the acetate. And because the detail from that snowman die
is pressed into place, I can see exactly
where they need to go. Alright, so there's
two smaller ones here that are the eyes. It's going to take a
minute to lift him up. Even with the tweezers. We go. The nice thing about using the liquid glue to
put these pieces on is it helps you to
move things around. But you do want to be
careful when you're doing it on the acrylic. You're not moving
around a lot because that glue dries matte. It'll have a different
finish than the acetate. So you don't want
to go and smear all over the place a
little bit as fine. You probably not
going to notice it, but you want to be fairly close. There we go. Our
details are on there. Now, typically I will wait
before doing this next step, but right now I'm
going to do it. I just wanted to
take some stickers and just add a little
bit of sparkle. So I'm gonna do it
on the holly berries and you see how
that Holly shifted. That's normally why I wait for it to dry before doing this. Because that glue to put those pieces down is
not quite dry yet. And I'm just putting
them for this one. I'm just putting it in some
of the details for my sample. I put it in all of the openings
that showed the green, but you can put as much
or as little as you want. It just adds a different
texture to the front. And just a little
bit of sparkle, which I think is really cute for Christmas things. Alright,
I'm going to leave that one. I'm not going to touch
him. But there we go. That's what we have.
Cute little shaker card that has a tag there
that you can add your message or whatnot
in there. There we go. Cute way to add something festive onto
the front of a card. But then with the hanger, you can also use it in as
an ornament afterwards.
11. Ornament Shaker Tag: Die Cutting & Layering: So the next shaker
card we're going to create is this cute
little one here. Now, it's just a round circle. You could put a little dicot for an ornament topic
here and make it look like more of an ornament. But when I was creating it, actually didn't think
it was necessary. But if you feel like
adding that to it, you can I've got most of the
parts already cut for it, but I wanted to show you how to get a nice edge
around your piece here. Now I'm taking two circle dies and in order to
keep them nice and even I'm laying them out
where I want them to be. And I'm just going
to put a piece of painter's tape to
hold them in place. While I'm done cutting, I don't need to tape them
to the glitter card stock. I only need to take
them to themselves. Flip them over. I like it with my dyes, have the blade face up and I
put my paper nice side down. The reason I do this is years
ago I was teaching a class. And this is how I've
always done it. And I noticed people
in the class, we're not doing it that way, but I just let it go because I was curious
what would happen. And by the end of the class, the die that was being used was kind of a half
circle shapes. So I always do it with
the blade facing out, the pressure goes on the blade and not on the back of the die. So there we have our
circle part here. I've got the little Santa
and slay already cut. It's from the same
die cut that we did, the snow globe in the beginning. So it was just the
perfect size for that. Now for our little
village set here, I've got a set of dyes that have a bunch of
different ones to them. And I chose this one
because I really liked a little low church in it. It just gave it a little
bit of a different height. So I've got a circle that I've cut out of some scrap
card stock and I can take my dy here and put
it where I want it to go. Flip it over and die cut that. That is all the die cutting
out I need to do right now. So before we assemble anything, we're going to do
a little bit of prep on some of these dicots. So the first thing I'm going
to throw that scrap away. First thing I'm gonna
do is I'm going to glue my piece of acetate to my glitter cards
dark ring here. You could use regular card
stock as well for this. I just thought the glitter
would look really, really pretty and add a
nice sparkly outline. It just shows you that you
can use any card stock for things you don't necessarily
have to only use plain. Since this is a holiday. I'm looking for the block
that way this down. Since it's a holiday project, it's always nice to
use metallics and card stock or in glitter card
stock and stuff like that. For that, I'm going to line it up and
then I'm just putting my acrylic block on
there to hold it down if by chance because it keeps shifting every time I do that, I can just trim
anything that has come outside of those lines. Once we are completely
ready to assemble. So next I want to take these windows, so
particular dicots, so all these windows
and I really like it when it has
some gold in there, it makes it look a
little bit festive. What I like to do is I go
to the back of the die cut, put some double-sided tape. And then I'm going to fill
in those window areas. It doesn't need to be
perfect on the back because all of this is
gonna be completely hidden. The only way you're
going to see any of this is if by chance you have some edges of your card stock or whatnot exposed in the front. You can see I'm just
using my finger to rip the edges of this. You don't need to cut it. The thin stuff is great. You can just rip it. Right now. I'm going to take all of
those backings off so that they're just all
exposed adhesive. This is a great thing
to deal with scraps. All of this is really a great
thing to do with scraps. But for this, especially
often you'll have little tiny bits and
pieces when you're done cutting up a sheet for different things or
for dicots or whatnot. So this is a great
way to use them up. So I tend not to toss too many
of them away. There we go. Alright, or adhesive is exposed. So I'm just going to do
one house at a time. And all I'm doing is making
sure it's within the edges of the house so that I
don't see any over the front around the house. I just want it in the
window areas here. And it doesn't
necessarily have to go only one way or another. So you'll see how I changed directions of the
card stock there. That was mainly because
the way that I had it, it was going to show out or show up outside of the building. So I wanted to make sure that everything was
completely covered. This one here, I'm going
to see this little corner, so I'm going to cut it off here. Might be a bit too big for that. Let's go from the other end. There we go. Just
cut the tip off. We can do this bit here. Anything that's really
close to the edge, I want to say within
a quarter of an inch. We don't need to worry
about whether it's covered because this is going to
cover a whole lot of that. I want just a little tiny piece to cover this window here. Then most of these in this
corner here won't be shown. But you will see probably
that one right there. So I'm just gonna
make sure that that one is at least covered. The rest of it. It
doesn't really matter, but it is going to get covered. Alright, now I'm going to
cut around the edges here. Putting any of the other
stuff, they're away. Before I set this aside because
I'm already waiting for the liquid glue for
the acetate to dry. I'm going to, I don't
like this one here. This one is separated in the jar so it needs
to shake it up. Let's do this one here because I have to wait for that
liquid adhesive to dry for the acetate on
the glitter card stock. I'm just going to do
my stick holes here. We'll let that dry completely. Before we go and
assemble our piece. You could wait and assemble
things and then put your stickler on before you add the top to your shaker card. But because we're
already waiting, we might as well just do it now. And as well as putting
some of the roof, I'm just going to
pull it a little bit just to make it
look like snowy hills. It just adds a bit more sparkle. And it ties the
glitter card stock on the outside to the
inside piece here. Alright, so now that is
going to go aside to dry. And then one last step before
we wait for everything, actually, I'm gonna
do two steps. I put some gold accents on
the little Santa and slay. When I was creating the sample, I put it in or put it on while it was glued
to the back of the card. But since we have
to wait anyways, I might as well just do it now. And then little Read Range. Your nose make sense is hot red and let's set that aside to dry. And then for our sky, I just have a light
blue circle here. What I'm gonna do is take
some distress ink and I'm going to anchor around it just
to create a dark outside. Gives it a little bit more
interests by having it shaded. You can do as much or as
little as you want here. I'm using uncharted mariner, which I really, really
love for night skies. It's a newer color. But I absolutely love it. But you could use any dark
blue that you love for this. Whatever you like
to ink blend with. Alright, I'm going
to let all of that dry and then we'll continue on. I'm going to wash off my surface here just because
I did some ink blending on it and I want to make
want to make sure that I'm not transferring
any of that color. When we go to assemble,
will see you in a bit.
12. Ornament Shaker Tag: Assembly: All right, our pieces are
derived and ready to go, so we're ready to
start assembly. So the first thing I
want to do is I want to put some tape along the bottom up the back
of little houses. I'm doing it fairly
close to the edge. I don't want it to go
over the edge. Today. I'm going fairly close to
same as all the other ones. Make sure that you don't have any spaces between
your tape here. The other thing that I want
to do because I want to put some tape at the
top of the houses. I don't want any of these
Shaker things to go behind them just because
you're going to lose. They're gonna get
lost back there. So I want to put them behind the houses to kinda seal that off and keep those shaker
bits where you can see them. It doesn't need to look
pretty because we're not going to be able to see
any of this anyways. I'm gonna put a little
bit behind the top of the church building as
well for the same reason. And then put that rate across. Wanna make sure that none of that is exposed to the front, that you can't see any of that. If by chance you can, because there's a
little notch in here and you probably
wouldn't even notice. But if by chance you do get
a little peak of your foam, you can just snip
it out like that. There we go. So now I'm going to put
this onto the back, my blue piece here. And I made sure to put
my adhesive rate up to the edges of those die cuts
so that when it's glued down, it's gonna be very
easy to continue. Putting the next piece close
to the edge of the dicots. We're going to do two layers of the foam tape on this just to give it
some extra dimension. If I only did the one layer, then this window is going
to be raised against the village here and
we're not going to see any shaker bits
go in front of that. This house doesn't
go all the way to the edge of the card, but that's totally
fine because we have our frame on here that's
going to be hiding that. But once again, you want to
make sure that your foam goes all the way to the edge of your circle so that it
is hidden by that frame. And you also want
to make sure that you do your foam all the way to the edge of your village. So there's no openings there. And I'm positioning the edge so that I can just see
a little bit of it. There's actually
a tiny little bit of an opening right there. So what I'm going to do because I want to do two
layers of the foam tape. I'm just gonna do a little
squeeze of the collage medium in there just to seal that up. I think it's small enough that no bits are going
to come through, but just to ensure that none do, I'm just going to put
some collage medium there to seal that in. I'm gonna put my
little hanger piece here on the top of my ornament. Cut any excess bits off there. And now I'm gonna do a second
layer for my foam tape. Once again saying with
all the other ones, I wanna make sure
that the joins are in different spots so that
it seals previous layers. We go one last little area there. Any of these excess
little bits that can be used for other
projects there. So they're not going
to go to waste. There we go. So now I'm going to put
my Santa enslaved down, making sure not to
have too much so that it squeezes out here. So my churches
obviously a little bit more in than I did on
my sample, but that's okay. It works just fine. I'm going to take this
adhesive off the top of these pieces of foam tape. Before we put our front
onto the ornament. I'm going to add my little
shaker bits in my sample. I use some of the big
snowflake pieces, but they actually don't
really move very much. I'm leaving them
off of this part. Go and last but certainly
not least, the mica flakes. I liked the sparkle
of the microfluidics in there. Natural color. So they have a little bit of a silvery brownish tone to them, which might not be
everyone's cup of tea. And if it's not, you absolutely
don't need to add them. And now we're adding our front. Make sure to press it down before you lift everything
up and shake it. There we go. Cute little ornament and you can do your scene whatever you want. It doesn't necessarily need
to be a Santa with a village. I just wanted it to be different for some of the other cards. But a fun way to add another
interactive thing to a gift. And you can use it as
an ornament afterwards. So write your message on
the back if you'd like. Super cute.
13. STO6 Toy Soldier Shaker Tag Diecutting & Assembly: So the last little
shaker tag ornament we're going to create is
this little guy here, this little toy soldier. His name is Harvey, is another physics die
that was just released. And there's a whole
bunch of different things that you
can do with them. I just thought this would
be a really cute way to use them and be interactive. You could also just
use them as is. Now, just like some
of the other ones, I did eliminate
some of the layers. In order to do the
shaker tag hole, I just have a square dy that fits in there and
gives it a nice border. I'm going to use that both on his body as well has his hat. Now some of the layers
that I eliminate it, you could add them to this. The only thing is,
is you would have to line it up and then
cut out the square. And once again, because
of the shaker part, I kinda thought it didn't
need that extra detail. And some of those details
would hide the shaker areas. But I love that there's just so much different variety and choice that you
can do in this guy. Alright, so we've got our
two squares cut out of them. And now we need to take those squares and cover
them with acetate. Alright, now go to the back. I've got a piece of
acetate here that I cut into a neural. Can be a little bit
narrower than I had it. It doesn't need to look pretty. This is on the Baptist
is completely covered. You just want to make
sure that your square is covered and that you
don't use any go any acetate beyond the edges
of the outline of him. I'm going to use the distress
collage medium with this. You could also just use the double-sided tape that
absolutely would work as well. Go. I have the rest of the die cut pieces for him already cut out. You've seen me do
other die cutting, so there's nothing new
about any of those pieces. So I'm just putting
this together and then I'm going to
put an acrylic block on it so that that can
dry. There we go. I'll see you when it's all dry and we'll continue. Alright. We are all dry now, so we're ready to continue. Now, the top of
the hat is black. Rather than cut out
the hat in black and then position the square
in the same spot, the cutout in the same spot. I chose to just take a Copic
marker and color it in. It doesn't have to
be a Copic marker. You could use a
Sharpie, you can use just a diabase marker. And then a little bit down
here for his chin strap. There we go. I just wanted to do
that before assembling the rest so that that
was completely done. So now I'm going to
put the shaker part together and then we'll do the details on the
front of the card. Once again, where's
my small scissors? Once again, putting
the foam tape around the edges of the box, making sure not to go
outside of the card as well as not going inside the box. And the square that I use
Gibbs just enough space. There's so many different
square dies out there that it should be
easy to find one. You could try rectangle
tool if you had one, but the ones that I have, none of them were the
right dimensions, right size for this, I chose not to use them. I chose the square instead and I think it works just fine. Once again, all of my joints, I'm making sure that they
are meeting up with each other so that none of the shaker parts inside
the card will fall out. Go and cut this end off the
back of this particular guy. He's actually supposed to
be flushed colored and then all these different
parts are supposed to go on top of them. I chose to do them red because I wanted the body to be red. And I don't think it takes
away from them because you get the face in the peachy
tone or whatever. But I've seen so many
different variations of them, not as a shaker card, but just as a flat piece. And really the sky's the
limit for color choices, which is pretty fun. Alright, I've got this
backing off of those pieces. I chose to do fillings that we're golden red for this just because it kinda fit the
color scheme of the front. And I didn't have any shaker
bits that were black, otherwise I would have
included them in the hat part. Once again, you can
do whatever you want for little bits inside. There we go. Got a little piece on
there that in there. Alright, now I'm
gonna take my, well, first of all, I'm going to
take the little hanging part, put it on my adhesive there. Then I'm going to take
this part, match it, glue it to the front, make sure to press everything
down so that all of those bits are in
place. There we go. Alright, so now
I'm going to glue all the little pieces on here, and I'm actually going to
be quiet and just speed up the video so that it goes a
little bit faster for you. Because this is a part that
you don't necessarily need me to talk you through. So
I'll see you in a bit. Okay? Okay. So all my pieces are in
place and you can tell this guy kept giving me
a little bit of trouble. He kept going up and curling. So some of the pieces you will need to hold down a little bit. The other thing that was the
most challenging to put on where these little gold strips, and this is where it's nice to have liquid glue because you can move them around and get
them all nice and straight. So that glue that's on there is going to dry completely
clear so you won't see it. The last step I want to do, because I want to
put a little bit of glossy accents on the little
metal on his head thing. I also want to put
some on his boots, make them nice and glossy. Skip them a bit of a
different texture. I think it just makes it
look a little bit more interesting and it
catches your eye. Alright, so obviously it's milky looking because it is wet. As it dries, it'll
go completely clear. If you have any bubbles,
just use a pin to pop them before anything is dry. And there we go.
That's what it looks like when he's all dry, but you see how it's fun to
have the nice glossy boots. You could use glossy card
stock there as well. But there you go.
14. Create Shaker Tag Ornaments with your Dies Class Thank You: Thank you so much
for joining me for the shaker tag
ornament card class. I hope you enjoyed
learning how to create different shaker tags
with some of your dice. And I hope it's inspired you to look at what
you already have. Just see if you can create
a shaker element out of it, or even just a gift
tag element out of it. It's a great way to
get more use out of our suppliers that we already have and have fun with them and have them
be kinda new again. I hope to see you
soon in another class when you do make a shaker
tag, please post it. I would absolutely
love to see and please take a moment to
review the class. I would appreciate it. Thank you so much.
Have a great day.
