1. Introduction: Hi, my name is Andy and I. Teacher, not a designer. Teaching is what I do. And I struggled a lot with the need to create well-designed presentation. And they know how to do well. But what percent do not evolve the seals, I spent so much time on content and blending of teaching itself and designing of my classes and lectures that I can do vote twice as much sign in. I can't learn a new professional together. Sound design to proceed with. Some students, learn what's working and what doesn't. And most importantly, what's working for personally like needs, effective, well-designed as inpatients, and needed weekly as a teacher out to be having. I taught in schools online and use gaze lectures and workshops. I couldn't do it is go ahead and fill up this deal. Designing good presentation. So remember to do it in, do it well and not spend all my time. And not think like a designer because I just can't. This is what you'll hear in this class for this, you know, was he wanted to teach, but still don't know how to be in your presentation. But don't want to learn sine. C click at this dinner or if you have a good lecture, our class presentations still lead sound learning. They learn how to craft a presentation. That's right. Amount of texts and images that serves your goals for your class. Lecture, notes and professional. Well-designed your class project and be your own presentation that will be for your own muscle lecture. Already have one you want to have the one who start building your presentation. That's great. That's the right way. You still don't have. Quantum. Can use this as a practice then she something. So I look forward to seeing you in the next. 2. 1st Step: Start Writing: Okay, Let's start. If you have a presentation you already want to make, use it now as your class project, and you will have it all ready by the end of this. You can also use something for practice of course, if you don't have one yet. We also have a discussion tab for this course, 00:00:18.525 --> 00:00:21.045 So put up all your questions there. I will answer as best as I can, and everyone will benefit. So do it there and create our course knowledge. In this video, we will learn how to start. While you stare at this blank PowerPoint presentation with one empty slide, starting is the hardest thing sometimes. So first, just free yourself of all thoughts relating to design, color, fonts or pictures. What you need to do is to just start. For this class, as an example, I will use Galileo Galilei. Why? Because I'm a history teacher, and everyone knows him, and there's a lot to say. So it's a good example to use. Just begin with writing the outline of your class, without thinking about anything else. Just what you want to say on the slides. When I don't know the material and need to research, I have some research paper that I use. Sometimes the subject is something that I know very well and can start without it. You can make a lesson plan or a class outline in a different document, or just use your PowerPoint presentation straightaway and write it in there, without judgment. Whatever feels more comfortable to you. This is how the PowerPoint looks like. It's Office 365 and this is what I'm working with, and this is how I'll demonstrate. If you use other versions so maybe it will look a little bit different. But this is the general idea. I really think it's the best version for what we're doing here, but of course you can use others. So I just opened it, didn't touch anything. And you can see how it looks like. So here is my slide. On the left, you can see the list of slides. And on the right you see the design ideas. We will go to it later, but I don't want to use it now because I want, before I design graphically and visually, I want to know exactly what I want to say in each slide. I want to know what my message is. I want to know the needs for each slide. So I don't want to design it in advance, only after I know my preferences. So we'll get out of this. And let's start with the building of the slides. So as I said, this is with no judgment. It's to get started. because writing the first letter is usually the hardest thing. So we're just going to start. We will not a judge ourselves while working, we'll just write whatever comes to mind. And we can change everything later. This is sort of a brainstorming stage. So we said my topic is Galileo Galilei. It's something that I know a lot about, I have all the materials. So we'll demonstrate on that. You can of course choose anything you want from any topic. So we'll do that, and then I'll just have the headline. So I know what my subject is. Then I go to the slides and Enter, and then I have a new slide. You have here the headline, you have here click to add text. Sometimes I use it, sometimes I don't. I use it here for headlines because I want to say what do I want to say about him. So you might have a pre-made list, you might do it just from the top of your head. It's all up to you And what's convenient for you as a person or for this particular. And he died in 1642. So he lived a long life. And born... What was he. An astronomer (laughs), this is going to be hard. Florence, Italy. Physicist. Philosopher. Who was he? Okay, So this is just so that that I have the main points about him. So I want to say that during these days scientists didn't have just one discipline. I want to mention that in my presentation. And I also want to say that his father was a musician and played the lauta. And I want to say that he was born in Pisa. Okay. Okay, So this is it for that. And Enter. Starting another slide. So now I'm thinking, I talked about the childhood, let's talk about his astronomical discoveries. And then I can say that he improved the telescope. He didn't invent it, but he improve it. Was the first one to see the face of the moon And see that it's not smooth. And I want to say that he was part, was an essential figure In the Scientific Revolution. 00:07:35.660 --> 00:07:40.295 Okay, so I'll do that, and now Enter. And what I want to say now is that his discoveries about the sun and the earth. So we want to say that, I want to say that he confirmed Copernicus's theory, the Heliocentric Theory. that the earth revolves around the sun. And I'll leave it at that so we can move on with the demonstration. And then he had a trial, his trial. And then we're going to say that he stood trial with the Italian Inquisition. And then we'll say that he got a house arrest, a punishment. Of course There's a lot more to say, but this will be quick. And you can see how I built it from one point to another. So it's not just a pile of information. You have the headline. Just make sure you leave a cover slide. And then we have a story. His childhood, where he was born, where he died, who was he, what was his profession, then what he found out in general. And then we're going more specifically into what his best-known for, and that's his discoveries about the sun the earth. And then the end, it's basically the biggest story that we know about him. So this is what I have so far. It's not pretty, it's not well-designed. It's full of information. And this is what I'll start working with. Okay, so you saw I do it. Now it's your turn. Start doing it now, fill in your presentation with your content. Don't be judgmental, everything can be changed. We will craft all of this later. Just start. 3. 2nd Step: Craft Your Content: Great, you finished the first step. Your presentation may not look so great, but this is probably the hardest and most important step. To get started and have it all written down. So well done. Now let's look at our slides, and make them presentation ready. What each slide needs is information. What slides absolutely don't need is the entire explanation. Think about the student. Your students needs to listen to you, understand what you're saying, and at the same time look at the presentation and understand it. So the presentation needs to support you in your class or lecture, and help the students understand you better. The presentation serves you. Here's what you should think about: What are the headlines of each slide? What's the main most important thing in the slide? And how can I use the slide to support what I'll be teaching? Now, let's go over the slides, and what's necessary and helpful and what's not. I have a disclaimer: Often, if not always, teachers use their presentation as a crutch, to remember things they might forget. This is a very well-known trick. This is totally fine, everyone does it and it's very useful. We just need to do it only when absolutely necessary, and keep the role of the presentation as our support at all times. So put there names and other things you think you might forget, but don't overdo do it. Okay, now let's do it, And I'll demonstrate. Okay, so now what we're going to do is go over what we did so far, and make it more presentation ready. So here's the cover, I'm not touching that. No, I am touching that. I'll write my name. And I can write other details or the name of the lecture. And now I'm going over what I did. So I do have a story here already. If you don't have that, just move things from place to place. And you can change here, touching, how the slides are organized. And now I'm going over this and I'm saying: Who was he? And I see that... I saw where he lived. Maybe I don't need this on the slide itself. I can just say it out loud. So I'll cut it. And what I would do to not lose the information, is I'll go to the notes and I'll paste it here. And then I'm not losing the information that I needed. And it's very easy. I don't have to go to another document and paste there. Of course, you can do it however you want. And also the explanation about during these days scientists didn't have just one discipline, it's a good sentence, but it's too much to digest while I'm talking and explaining. It's too long. I'll do it again. I'll copy it to the notes and then I'll just make it shorter. So I'm not deleting the entire sentence. And I'll just call it: Not just one discipline. So it's easier for the students, the listeners, to understand, because it's a very short sentence. And then out loud I can explain. what that means. And his father was a musician and played the lauta, okay, fine, I don't think it's that important. It would be nice to say but it's not that important in such a short presentation. So we'll move to the notes and then I'll say it out loud. But this one if I forget if I forget it, it's not that important. Okay. So moving on, he improved the telescope, was the first one to see the face of the moon and that it's not smooth and was an essential figure in the Scientific Revolution. So: Explanation about the Scientific Revolution. I'm writing it in the notes. I will, if it was something that I am going not to do, not just for presentation, I can write even the entire explanation or things that I usually tend to forget, So I can remember it. So I rewrite it here. And just say, moving back to the first one, let us say that one thing that I do is like, it's the, it's the year that he was born and the year that he died. That's something that I keep here. Sometime you can get mixed up with, when you're giving an entire class who could forget if it was 1664 or 1564. So just write it down. This is short, it's simple and easy, it serves you as a presenter. So that's something that I will keep here even if I don't think, just as a crutch to myself. And here, he was an essential figure in the Scientific Revolution, explanation about the Scientific Revolution, which I will give out loud. I can even write the entire explanation in the notes. And these ones, I kept it easy, stood trial with the Italian Inquisition. He got a house arrest. Okay, So I'm thinking now, maybe I should do a completely new, to put the Scientific Revolution in this slide with his astronomical discoveries, It's too big, and it's not really in line with the rest of this slide. So I do want to make a completely new slide just for the Scientific Revolution. So I'll write it as a headline. And I don't need all that. The Scientific Revolution. And now I will write all the information. I will do it quickly here. Was the steppingstone of modern science. Had an important role in the decline of the church. And then after the decline of the church we'll say, relied on the ability of people to think for themselves. And then I can write here in the notes whatever I want to elaborate on, and I think I will want to remember. And that will be, so there's a lot to say, it will be a completely different slide. I have here, I will... Okay, this is just one sentence. And this is fine and this is fine. Okay. So now I have it clearer. Shorter sentences, I changed some of the slides, and I'm ready for the next step. Another thing that I'm thinking about is the purpose of each slide. So this will be something more instructional. And maybe I can do between this one and this one, some sort of activity with his photo. So I'll just write it down for myself. Photo of Galileo, it's just for myself. And then ask who he is, and maybe people will guess, it's a nice activity for the beginning. And maybe I can ask here what it the Heliocentric Theory. And then it will be a nice question for the audience. So I'm thinking what's the purpose of each slide, Wrote it here in the notes. I can make another slide with the question. I don't always writing the notes, Sometimes I have a different document where I write all my plans as well. And then in the end I can have a summary. So I also plan what is my goal for each slide. Of course, In the next video we will learn how to find the pictures and then we will do that again and rethink. But this is another thing that we should know ahead. What do we want from each slide? And at this stage, after we finish with putting all the material and all the text, we can think a little more about activities, questions, and other things that we want to do. So here it is, we have a presentation that is not just a load of material, but also it's more planned. the text supports our lecture or class, and is not not overtaking it. We have a plan for what kind of images we would like. We have activities and questions we want to ask. And how we're going to craft it. The story of the presentation is clear. And now we're ready to put in the images. Now, it's your time to work on yours. Go do it, and I'll see you in the next video. 4. 3rd Step: Add Images: So now we have all our text organized. What we need now is: Pictures and images. And lots of them. As we learned in the last video, our presentation is meant to support what we say out loud. We use words. So what can support words? visuals. Students want to see what you're talking about. It helps them understand better, keeps them interested and engaged. How many pictures per slide? It really depends on the content and what we're trying to show. For instance, if you're showing a few examples, put in several pictures. If you're talking about one thing, pick a picture that represents it. But don't overcrowd. You're going to find sometimes so many good pictures and images that you like. But remember, we want the presentation to support us, not to demand too much attention. You want it to be as clean and clear as possible, not messy. Keep it organized. Don't make it too much. Don't make a distracting. Use the exact amount for students to understand, but don't put more than four in one slide. Unless you have a very, very good reason. Now we can finally look for images. It's something that's, it's a little bit different way of thinking, It's more visual, It's creative in a different way. So it's something that I always like and enjoy when I make presentations. Beware that finding a good picture that you can also use is not always easy. It sometimes takes a lot of work. And that is exactly why I'm here with my best tips and tricks, to make it as easy and quick as possible. So here we have the cover again. And now when I think about it, I'm thinking that if I have a cover that says Galileo Galilei, and then I have a picture asking them who it is, they will know. So maybe it can be a good opening for the presentation to just have the picture and then without the name. And then afterwards I will show them Galileo Galilei and welcome them to the lecture. So I moved it up. And this will be my first slide. And as you can see, we're always modifying, we're always changing, we're always learning. Be sure to hear reviews and comments and change what you do as you go, even after you start, nothing is set in stone. You can always learn, you can always improve. So I will make as little text boxes as possible. Because later when I design, it can come in the way of the design. Even if I have an empty text box, the PowerPoint will still know that it's there and will take it under consideration. So we want as little as possible. So I cleared the entire slide. So now on to the photo of Galileo Galilei. He's very known, he's very famous, he's likely to come very quickly in the search. So this should be fairly easy. As I said, I go to Wikipedia first. Why do I do it? Because they give all the details about how I can use them and they use free photos to use. So that's the best way to find good photos. So I go to Google. And I'll just drive Galileo Galilei, and found him. And here it is, as expected, that's the first result. I will not go to images. Because when I do images, it can take it from all sorts of places. And I don't know if it's free to use and what are the terms. It's true that there is a way to look for a free license photos, but it's not guaranteed. And you can never know for sure. I want to know for sure. I don't go to images. I do go sometimes to images if I'm looking for something that is very, very specific and hard to find. Then I can't find it in my normal way, my usual ways. And then I go there and try to find a picture that I can use. But that's a little bit more complicated, I will not get. So don't go to images. Go to Wikipedia. So I have here a picture of him. This is the first thing that I see. So I will look if there is one more. And I see there's another picture of him, but I think the one at the top is better. Let's see if there's something more that I could use. And I see, I have here a machine he invented. And a lot of... and his trial. So there's a lot of things we could use in the future, the face of the moon. So I will take this picture and I'll click on it. And if you look for something that was created a long time ago, so you can probably use it for free. The reason being that in most countries, the laws are that it's public domain, which means free to use, after 70 or a 100 years after the creator died. So that will be the painter in this case. And here you can see at the bottom that it's public domain. I can use it freely for any purpose, So we're fine. I'll click on more details. And maybe I will look here, I can see who painted it and what year. And the copyrights licensing that it's public domain. So I will copy it and I'll paste it here. You can save it and then upload it. But I usually don't do it because I don't need to. I don't want to have too many files that I'm not going to use again. So as you can see on the right, it automatically opens the design ideas. We will use it, but we will use it later. I want to teach you exactly how to look for pictures, and how to build it inside the presentation. Of course, once you have more expertise, you can do it per slide. I usually do it per slide. It really depends, but I will teach you step-by-step. So I will not do it now. And what I do is I go back and I copy and I paste in the notes the address of the website because I didn't have it saved. And it has a lot of information that I might need in the future. So I keep it here for myself. And of course you can do it in any document you wish. But don't do it here because it will interfere with the design of the automatic design. So somewhere that isn't on the slide. So I'm not touching it yet because I'm not designing yet. And here I have the cover, so I will go back and now I want maybe a different picture of Galileo. So it's still here. And I'll take this picture of him. And it's pasted here. I'm not even touching it because as you can see, the automatic design will make everything more clear. So I don't even need to do anything. I don't need to touch it at all. And now I'm going back to see the details. So click on more details. Here on this page you have everything you need. It's public domain. You can have the name of the painter. You see that it's a painting. You see the year. And let's say... it's from the Ufizzi museum. Gives you the reason why it's public domain. So you have all the details. So we don't need to do anything special, but let's say I want to write the name of the painter and the year. So so let's say I want to write the year. So I'm coping. And I want to paste it. And I want to paste it but I will not do it now, because as I said it will interfere with the rest of the design. So I'm doing it here for the meantime. In the notes, so we'll move it up later. And then again, I'm saving the address. And the entire presentation because that's important. Okay. I really want to make sure I have a picture on every slide. We don't want to bore, we want it visual and we want to give examples. The audience wants examples. So I'll use it for the example afterwards of how we design when we don't have images. But I really tried to do as much as I can. So here his astronomical discoveries. He improved the telescope, so people are going to want to know how his telescope looks like. It will be really nice to have this for the audience. So I'll go to Google again. And let's say I don't know where it is. So I'm putting here Galileo's telescope. Okay, I got misspelled, but Google will recognize, you can see, so it's not so important. And I want a picture, as I said, I'm looking for Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, which is where they keep their images. So because it's not as clear. And let's say I didn't find it on the original page. Wikimedia Commons. I write it straight away. And here, I found it. Galileo's telescope, and replica and all these options. So I'm opening it in different tabs. And here I can choose, see how much I can choose from. So I have this one, and this is not really his telescope, so I'll go back. Here I have a really nice picture, so I'll get rid of this one, and I can use this one. So this is again public domain, which I like because then I don't have to write all the details and it saves me some work. A replica of the earliest surviving telescope attributed to Galileo Galilei. And let's see if I have more. So this is how it worked, and this is Museo Galileo, it's Firenze, in Florence. And then this is a very good example. You can see exactly his own telescope. You have all the details here in English. In Italian, sorry, but you can understand it. And you have here in English as well, where it's from, what it is, the date, the author, everything you need. And that's what I love about it. You have all the details you need, so I want to use this one. And I look at the copyrights and you can see that this is not public domain. So you can copy, distribute and transmit the work, and adapt the work with attribution, and share alike. Which means you need to write the copyright, which is this one. This is the name of the license and the number of the license. So there are different ways to write different licenses. It's all written here for us. It's not so important f it's 2, 3 or 4. Just read it if you're not sure, it's really easy to see. And then you can just copy and paste. And you give the attribution So it's this name. And again, I want to write it on the slide itself, but not yet. 2.5. All the details, we can write it shorter. I'll show you later, sometimes it looks different. And that's it. That's pretty much it. All the details, and then once I have it designed, I can put it up. And I'll save where I found it from, that's so I can go back. And then of course, the picture. And again, automatic designs. But now I don't want just one picture. I want more. So I'll just make it smaller so I can see. Was the first one to see that the face of the moon isn't smooth. So let's say for this one, I don't want to use a historical picture. What I want to do, is use a stock photo of the moon to give a little bit more atmosphere. So what we're gonna do is to go to free stock photos. And I actually have one that I always use for me, It's the best. They don't know me, I don't get anything from them, but I really think they're the best. And that's Pexels. They deserve it, they deserve me sending people their way. And I really think they have very good pictures. But you can always Google free stock photos and find out the ones that you may like or may suit you better, because maybe not all of us have the same needs. But I really recommend this one. And I just search the moon. So we said that the face of the moon is not smooth. and I can see a lot of pictures here of the moon and for atmosphere. And it's so useful this website. I'll click on this one. And it's from Pixabay, and it has a free download. And I can pretty much use all of them. You see it's free to use. And I just copy and I paste it. And of course, here I have, you can see how the designs adjust really quickly. And there's so many things you can use here, because they like... you should use pictures. So even if you have, I don't know, something about kitchens and it's not a particular kitchen. Just find a picture of a kitchen from a free stock photo website and use it. Or not free, you can pay for it. Just use it as an example, as atmosphere. Use images. Now I go to the Scientific Revolution, and let's see what Wikipedia, has to offer us. Because sometimes I don't know in advance everything that I want to do, so I'll just ask Wikipedia. And maybe they have. The Scientific Revolution Wikimedia Commons. Then it will take me straight to the pictures. And here I have, maybe I don't have a clear idea of what I want. So here's a category, Scientific Revolution. And you can see the category, I have different pictures of the Scientific Revolution. So we can find many, many ideas. And here again, the bigger category, Scientific Revolution. And if I didn't find something that I like, there are different things that I can look for. Okay. So I didn't find anything that I like, so I'll go back to the Pexels. I'll just look for something with science. Let's try to use the Scientific Revolution. Nothing like it. Science. And it will have something more atmospheric. So you have all the details. We don't really need, because our our lecture or presentation is not about the Scientific Revolution. So it doesn't need to be this precise, but I do want something for atmosphere. So this is science, so let's copy-paste it. And let's look for some more. Something that we like. Oh, this is science, this screams science. And this is very current, It's the Webb Telescope. Let's use it. You can, sometimes I give the credit, not necessary but sometimes I do it. You can see all the options we will have here. And here... so, but because I don't want so many options because that's for atmosphere, I think I'll just leave the scientist. Because I don't want too much and I think that's the best of everything that I found. So I'll stay with him. His discoveries about the sun and the earth. He confirmed the Heliocentric Theory. Let's have a picture of Copernicus. Copernicus, let's say Wikimedia Commons. Category: Nicolaus Copernicus, That's our guy. So that's him. Let's see what else. We have a lot of faces, so what else can we find? So we have a lot of books, we can can go into each one and look what it is. We have here all the details, here more details, public domain we have here. So really dive into it and find something that is more original. That is the more interesting. Don't go for just the first image you see. So I found this statue of him. And here you can see on the right, you will have it often. If you don't have it, you can see at the top, reuse this image or file. you have this reuse file. Click on it and then you have all the information on how to reuse. So "use file on the web". And here I have this, you see? Attribution. You have all the details if I click on it. So this is very long. I can take it from here or from here. So I can see copy, I copy, I paste. And I don't need all that. Take it out. And then it's sometimes easier to use because it's with the author. So you can do that as well. I save the address. I look for more information if they have it. The rights to use this, I'm not sure. And here we have this one. So I'll look for the Heliocentric Theory, Wikimedia, our model. So it's still in the public domain. This one, and I want something else to talk about with Copernicus. we have the model and we'll add his signature. I'm adding it so they have more information. So we have more information and you can see how I'm getting design straight away. And now for the finish, the trial of Galileo Galilei, let's do something else. We can also use the pictures in PowerPoint itself. It's not a bad thing to do. They actually have pretty good ones. So it has pictures and then stock images. And then they have their own library. So I want a picture of a trial for this one. I can't find trial, so I'll try judge. And here, this looks like a trial. So I click on it. I can do more than one, you can see. So insert, insert everything that I chose. I can have several searches. And I can have a nice background or something for the atmosphere. So now we have all of our pictures ready. And all we need to do is design them. Continue to learn what to do with them. 5. 4th Step: Automatic Design the Right Way: Okay, now, the real fun part that is high for people like us who are not good at design. And real designers may not like it, but for us, it's perfect. And I have to say that I really enjoyed it. A little bit of relaxation from the content and the sinking of the presentation, and I'm having a little fun with it. So now let's learn how to design our slides with the images in them. What I do, I used to analyze and design of PowerPoint and then build on them. This is why I told you before what you want from me. Slide. This feature is amazing. It can analyze your needs and it gives you a variety to choose from. Now that we know what we want to achieve in each slide, and we have the text and the images. We will know how to choose the best design for names. Let's go do it. Finally, we're going to design. And I actually, that the last part that we did, finding the pictures, finding the copyrights, and deciding which ones are best for us. Oh, this is actually takes longer than what you're going to do. Now. This part is totally up to you how much you want to invest, how much you wanted to put in. This is really simple. I'm not this I'm not like I'm not discovering anything. Representative didn't know. I do teach you how to use it. Well and how to count on it. This is, as you probably guessed, is design ideas. Use them. Because honestly, as I said, I'm not a designer and the know-how to design, I don't do this kind of visual imagination. So I use it. But the key is to use it. Well, this is what we're learning here. So we do design and then design ideas. This is how you approach it. And here you have for each design as we saw, if when you put the image, it automatically shows you the design so you can do it however you want. So we said that the first slide, we just wanted a picture of the logo that we have. Here are a few options. We just scroll down more design ideas. And why I want to do is not just take what's create. It is also to say, what serves my presentation best. For this one, I said I wanted to ask the audience the question, who is this man in the photo? So there are a lot of pretty ones like this or like this or like this. But all of this is distracting because although one of them is to concentrate on this man. So I will use the first one and this is something really nice that they do that they take this image and they put it on the entire slide. So I use that quite often and put it here because I think that's best to show the entire slide where the patron asked for it. This is now the second slide. Sorry, no ideas for this slide. I have no idea why. Maybe because they used out, first of all make it smaller because it's in the way. Okay. So that was maybe a bag because it's giving it now and it did before. That's what I got all get confused. So this is the covers so I can use this. Okay. I will modify it later. I'm just showing you how to choose the designs. And I can do like this. I think this one's pretty nice, but we already had a different picture, so it looks too similar. Okay, but now because they chose it, it will show us things. So I can scroll more. I think this one's nice for the cover itself. So I think this is quiet. It gives us visionary atmosphere. And he looks exactly there. He's like he's looking at this sun or the moon in the light of the skies. I kinda like it for the message. And it looks like a cover. So I'll take it. And now we have an example of a slide that is not with an image that we put in advance. I don't have a lot of them, but I think this one is a good one because we already saw two pictures of him and it has more information. So let's see who was he really liked least once gives you some information about when he was born. It's really organized really well. As we said, the presentation should support you in teaching. So I think the way it's written here, the fonts, the colors, it's very clear, it's very organized. It's hot. It's easy to understand each part of what you're saying. So we have a few of them and think this is the best. So I'll keep it. And also, if I get out of this and then do it again, we will see that it will give you more options in the same style that I chose. So I can have this and I can have this nice background because we can also choose a background. I like this one because of the background, but I think the first one was the best. So I'll just oh, sorry. I'll go back and do it again. Just remember that these we already chose. Design, will choose an S designs based on what you chose. So just if you want to start fresh, go to the beginning of what you did and then it will start fresh with the options. You can do it several times to see if it has options to your liking because it can give you different options each time. And let's see why. Because here to offer us design ideas. And he's throwing called discovery. So now this is not so good for our message because we want the moon and this Tesco that the Washington one with all of these are Cardinals. Boring. But you see how it organizes all the information and knows how to organize really well. And we don't have to do anything. We're just put pictures on top of each other. This one's nice. But it's too much on because now it's too much on the moon. Yeah. It's not really looking more and more and more until there's some things that they liked. So this is better because here you can see clear, clear the telescope, which I want. And then later we'll adjust the font, make it bigger. So I'll keep it for the time being. The morning. Don't want so central here. And I also don't want the telescope caught. So let's see. Let's start again. Okay, I think this is our best option and all modified layer. And here the Scientific Revolution and we show this picture as we said before, for atmosphere, it's not from the Scientific Revolution. So something like that could be nice if it were on the other side because you can't really see the face of a scientist. But we don't need a photo. So central in the last slide, one of the oddest really be able to see the telescope. Here. I don't need them to really see it as for atmosphere, it just for atmosphere, for decoration to make it prettier. So it's not so central. You can't remove this one. This is nice. I like this one because I think it's very clear when they show like this and here, this is really good. I think I'll use this one because the scientists adjusting the background and it has all the information. We can change the colors later. And then we have per nucleus and we chose three pictures for this line for the audience to better know him. So this is really nice. I like this one because it shows that a lot I can really explain about him. Why did, did, and then it has a good headline. And then the explanation is smaller for the ones who need it. But it's not essential because the audience will hear me. So I like the way the pictures are really, really well shown and I can choose yeah, I think I'll give this. Let's see. Yeah, this is good because you can see Copernicus like this and it's pretty out. Keep this. It's also a matter of personal taste or a few good ones. And then in the end, He's trial. I can choose this line which is nice for trial. As we said before, the picture is not so important. I think for the end, will I suggest you do some sort of a summary of what you learned, all know them and say now, because it has enough demonstrations, but it's always good to have something like that. And as you can see, now, it gave me other options with the same kind of design. So I can choose something different things I like. This is pretty much it. We have all the designs. As you can see, I did not put too much effort and color, but we can change the color and make it seem more. Because some of it fits, matches, some of it doesn't. I think it's okay to take each slide for itself and we'll see now how you can modify it to better suit their needs. Before you go and design your own presentation, watch the next video on how you can modify the design learning and then go back to your presentation. And I'll see you there. 6. 5th Step: Modify Your Design: Now your presentation is pretty much ready. But sometimes you will need or want to modify to better suit your needs or making it prettier. I'll show you how you can do it quickly and easily. Great. Now we're almost done. We're actually that. But what I'm going to teach you now is how you can modify your presentation to better suit your needs. And once you really don't have to use it is you don't have time. If everything looks good for you, then you don't have to mortified. But the more goods into it, the more I do it, I want to change the fonts here. So assume you know how to change the fonts home, and then I'll make it smaller, let's say 30, my name, and then the headline will be bigger. So let's say ADA, think that's fine. We'll put it in the center. We can of course change the fonts. I think I don't put so much attention on the car, but I do think that we need one font that will take us through or don't mess too much with the fonts unless you have a good reason to demonstrate something. So let's just something from that. This will lead to something that looks nice for our presentation. I don't recommend to get too crazy with it because you want the font to be clear, to be understandable. So go for this one. No, I don't like this one. So you will try a few of them. Then choose one. I don't think you should go too crazy because as we said, the purpose of the presentation is to support you. You don't eat only to be too creative and audience to have trouble understanding. Some Sherwood time, you will find ones that you like better. And I like this slide, so we'll use this one. Then. I just noticed there's some things you can generate, some not so he's a design gave me this orange line. I can't change it. I can move the picture from side to side. So we have here the entire picture, but I don't want to do that because as we said, he just mortifying were for designers. Designers. We go in and touch too much and create too much work. This is not what we do here, but we can change the color for this. This is too boring for the cover. So of course we can change it here. You can have the same colors that PowerPoint identified as your theme color. It's taking it from the images and the colors you use, so it matches the images. So let's say I will take this nice light blue one. Then if I stand here, I can have shaped format. And here there are also two ways to shape. This is automatic. It will always be the same design. So if you really in a hurry, you can use all of this. It will all, it's always the same sort of designs that a little bit more special. So you can use all of them and I think all of them fit as a headlight, but what you can do more. So let's say I want to have here could change that color. So I will take the light blue on. And here you can have the frame around it. You can see how it changes with each color that I touch. I don't want to use one here, but you can use line and then we have other options like shadow. Respect to t. And then you have reflection and glow. I like glow. It makes it a little bit more festive. I really like it then that's also just a personal preference. So we can have some glow on it and choose the color. So let's do this one and just play with it. See all the options that you have about it. I said, I think the glow is too much. So. Notice globally with though I want to. But you can use a display with Apple's fun with it. It's really all about having fun. But remember, don't make it too messy. Don't make it to five. It's for the others and it's the supportive. What do we have here? We didn't have that option for this demonstration. He didn't give it to us automatically, but sometimes it uses symbols. I do insert. And then I can choose. You'll give you icons of what you want to say. It didn't give us automatically for this demonstration. But it's really like when they interpret what I'm trying to say with our own images. So I hope it will do it for you, but you can always change it and modify it. So let's say he was born when he was born. So let's have a baby and place the baby here. And again, carbon gives me design ideas. Okay, so I chose a few symbols, you can put it here and the triangle wherever you want. And you can see I got a little bit more designs, which I don't really like so much because this is just for the correlation. It doesn't need to be that big. I have to say that I always learned how to do these icons because so many times automatically is pretty much how it looks like. They find the word something that symbolizes what you mean in the sentence and find it for you. So it's really fun and really nice. And this is how it looks like. Generally sell wanted to show it to you. If they're born, we have the dyed, the astronomy and the disciplined academia. And you can do that as well and use that. But let's say this is too small, I want to make it bigger. So I'll mark this. And then Smart Art Design. And then I can change pretty much everything about this. So I really don't want you to do too much of it. Only if you have time, if you really didn't sign something you liked or you have something like one to do. Just remember that these designs are very good. And the goal is to make it easy, easier on us. But also I think it's not big enough. So I'll make it bigger. Then I can move this all of these separately, but I don't want to ruin it. And as I said, I don't want to mess it up too much, just know they can do it and then modify the rest of it. And then I go to Smart Art Design again and look at the options as they don't like this one. I can do this one or this one. Here at the top. It gives me all the options with all the colors and I have the arrows, and I can do this. I think this is much prettier. Or this, or that you have so many options to play with. Also, if I don't like the way it's done, I can choose between this and this and this and all the options I was given before. If I want to go back, I can just use those. So this is a really good option that I think it's very, very helpful. I can change the colors. So I can do it like this. And ECG changes automatically. Don't want to. I really like the other colors. Of course, the fonts to change to our font to Verdana. And then making just one line. The font maybe smaller, so it will be in one line. Yeah, that worked. And as it gets shaped, format and make it whatever I want. So these are really the automatic things that we use and then home. And it changed again anyway. We just play with it. That's here. That's made it bigger than it become the textbox. So we just play with it as much as we like until We're happy and satisfied. So it was fine before, but we can modify it to how I want it to be. Santos is a PowerPoint, chooses symbols for you. They don't always fit. So it's important that you know how to do it and make it nicer. I'm not sure. Made it nicer. I really think it looks nicer before. Actually, I'll make it small again. Yeah, that's, that's a little bit better. And then do it like this. So here I just moved it a little bit, but as you saw them aren't actually the list booted look. So I really see these mortifying to an IV couldn't find the design that they liked. Or I have everything in a certain color and then wanting a completely different color and I want to adjust it. But really if I have a good reason, because as I said, where designers, this is not for designers and the more try to modify the list. Here we've talked before about the font. So I'll change the font again. And I think that's good. That 28. Let's try for Diana. And I think literally 40. Yeah, I think that's good. Maybe we'll try a different color so we can have this kind of blue. And we'll put all the details that 12 and all the copyright. I think this may be a little bit dark because the rest of the presentation is not so dark. So let's change the color on the Smart Art Design, and it gives me the option to make it a white. So let's do this. Changeover Donna, and here as well. Center. I think headlines and most of it should be centered. Make it bigger. Maybe 50. And then this textbox will be wider and then it will all be at, we don't need the dot. Okay? So that's basically it. I can touch more. I don't want to and I think this is fine. I don't want to touch it, maybe just the background. So you can right-click then the format background. So you have all these options here that you can play with the background with a pattern picture. I think this background seats more so than a lot of options display with it, maybe a color from the color theme. So maybe this one. And then we'll play with it and leave it at that. And here, we need to change the color here. So this is normal black because the background is interesting enough. And I wanted to stand out and change this once. Then I'll make it a little bit bigger. Now this is too big on, I keep the smaller again. 24, I want to make it prettier. Go to Shape Format and something black with the shadow, I think. Okay. The rest of it is trial, which should definitely do it a little bit bigger. Let's see if we have first, I tried to quicker options. Let you this one and we can have a frame and then some color around it, but I don I don't like it because I wanted to see the picture. I think it looks really nicely with the picture. And then we'll do the same one for the headline. 32. And here you have all the options to add like an arrow. Then say he's trial. Then we'll make a little bit smaller, smaller, smaller, smaller, smaller. Here. And in this way we can show that this is what it's trying to lead to. So that kind of symbolizes walk his trial lead to. And here I can have the different colors up there for the arrow. So I'll choose the white wine and make this picture by mistake. And every time I tried to show the text box, make it smaller. Something I can use also the arrows on the keyboard. Then maybe these bold, okay, it's not very nice. Caliber like look thin. Okay, so basically we can do all this. It can touch this because this is part of the design. And here you have everything you touch, you will gave you more options. Here, here, here, here. When I touch the picture. So I have some options for the frame, but I don't like them. I know on them. Because I don't want to play too much with it. Because the design looks really nice that it is. I'll go back, back, back to the original. And the last thing that we need to do is add all the copyrights and all the details of the images. The reason I'll say it again, the reason why we didn't do it in advance is because the design ideas don't work or don't work. When there are too many textboxes, they don't know how to work with it. So make sure you have as little as possible. And if it said that it doesn't have ideas, take out a few of them. You could also see that I combine my sentence In one textbox and not several, because then it will not give me ideas. So I do it in the end. You can do it per slide or all of them. How you prefer. I'll demonstrate on one of them we don't need all of them. So we insert text box here, Galileo's telescope. Then I can put it here, make it to y, and I can play with the fonts, the colors. However I wish, will do this for each image that needs it. That's it. We have a presentation. Let's look at how it's displayed. So this is a presentation, and this is how it's displayed. And we start with a question to the audience. Who is this man? They will answer. It will be a nice equation to start. Then we have the cover. I will explain about who he was. And it looks so pretty it looks. Then we explain about astronomical discoveries a little bit about the Scientific Revolution. Look how easy it is to see, how clear it is for the audience and pretty to look at and easy to understand. Then we'll talk a little bit about the Sun and the Earth and Copernicus and I can explain about Copernicus himself, about his theory. So that pictures to support that. Then his trial for the add the yellow glaze trial. Here look always start as a blank presentation and then some words on slides, black and white, and Luke, where we are now. And how pretty it is, how many images, how easy it is to look at, how easy it is to understand. And all of this without big designers are learning design. And yeah, that's pretty much it. That's all you need now is the time to modify what everyone in your own presentation and getting ready to do it now. And I'll see you in the next video where I'll talk about our class project. 7. Your Class Project: Well done, You've made it, now is the time to upload and get your class project ready. So if you haven't finished it yet, this is exactly the time to go over your presentation and finish it. Add some touches if you want for now or for future use. You can go to Project and Resources tab. You can find a list of all the steps I've taught in this class. When you're done with your presentation uploaded to the project and resources tab. So we can all learn from each other and get inspired. I really look forward to seeing your work. 8. Thank You and Keep In Touch: So this is the, if you did it, look at your presentation, it's full of images, the right amount of texts, it's pretty, it's engaging and support your teaching just the right way. And the best thing is you didn't even have to learn design. Thank you so much for participating in my class and completing it. I hope you like learning as much as I liked the ticket. If you liked it, please leave a review. That's been very helpful and I'm always happy to hear from you. Then follow me here on Skillshare so we can keep in touch and you'll get updates on my new classes. Forests, write your questions in the discussion tab so everyone can learn from them, and you're welcome to do that as well. So good luck with all your presentation. And hopefully I'll see you soon. Bye.
