1. Intro: Hello everyone.
My name is Ahmed. I'm a digital artists and creative director working
from past seven years. I've been very
lucky to work with major brands including
United Nations, the guide me, Pepsi
Government of Canada are going
out of this class. I will teach you how to
create futuristic sci-fi, vibrant portraits or
posters in Photoshop. In this lesson, I will teach you basic techniques and
professional courses of creating sci-fi portraits and poster artworks with
different ways. In this class you
will learn how to do. I love sci-fi vibrant portraits, use of gradients and
patrons use of glitches and how to create when the advanced photo
manipulation techniques, you use it, your Photoshop
tools and many other things. So let's start the class.
2. Resource Import: To start the class,
first of all, we have to upload few resources, Richard gradients and veterans. In our Photoshop, quadrat, we will create our canvas. I'm selecting ten ATP Canvas and I will name it too vibrant. Sci-fi portrait. I will name it sideways
portrait and open it. Offered dad, just duplicate
the layer and go to the blending option of the
layer and check that veteran. After selecting the
pattern options, select the veterans and import our pattern into Photoshop. So we will select
on the setting key and an offer that we will
go to our resource folder. And we will select the
patrons and click Go. Here we have a folder
of patterns which have all the required pattern
we need to create. Why a brand portraits. After that, we need to upload
some gradients as well. So we will, we will use
the same technique. Select the gradient, click on the gradients and
import gradient. And after that, go to the, go to your folder where we
have resources available. And from there, select both
gradients and open them. It will take some time
to load the gradients. It depends on which
system you are choosing. So we have our two gradients, neon and neon lights. So these gradients
will help us to create a vibrant,
futuristic both layers. So we are finalizing
our resources.
3. Create base: So now we will select our portrait and start
creating the effect. So first of all, we will
select our clean fixture, which is this, and
remove its background. To remove the background, we will select our picture and go to the Select
and select subject. It's easy way to remove the
background from object. And after that, we will
select our layer via Copy. Here we have our
objects separate. And after that, we will create a new layer and we will
select it as a bathroom. After that, we will
use eta gradient map. This gradient map is
very important because this gradient map is going
to give the vibrant neon, which are distinct
effect to all of our layers and our portrait. If we select our gradient, we can experiment
different styles of gradient which we have and we can select which one we like. We can choose our
best according to our requirements and our
taste of our third design. And selecting this initially. And then press Alt
key to clipping mask this layer to only two,
our subject layer. So this is giving us
a vibrant effect. After it, we need to add multiple layers
to create levels. And we need to play
with veterans with different objects
and elements to create the futuristic
portrait style. So we will add some more
objects in this portrait. For example, I have
resources available, I have pictures of mountains, I have pictures of moon
and pictures of sky. So I will first of all use up
the chair of the mountain. It will help us
develop some sort of effect for our portrait. And we will keep our layer of mountain above the
main subject layer. And keep in mind that our clipping mask is always
active to the subject clear. Then we will create a
new gradient map layer and clip it to the mountains. And then we will choose a gradient style
for our mountains. You can choose any
style which will lie, depends on our idea and concept that we need to adjust the location
of our portrait. And then we will
select another layer, which is Guy, and paste it as a background
of our subject. And keep in mind always that our clipping
masks are active because when we are adding additional layer
clipping mask disturbed. So again, we will select it
In Math and apply our sky. And we will select
the gradient maps. We will select the
gradients from our required effects
are channels. It will take some time, we'll experiment with them, and then we will select the
required gradients which you will like to
lie on our effect. Take your time and
keep experimenting. It will, it will help you to get the perfect reserves off the data we need to
resize this picture. And we need to. We can also choose
different options. We can reverse the gradient. All depend on our preferences, this kind of region we
like and we want this, this is going to look perfect. And then we can lower the
opacity of our bathroom near creator effect of manipulation to create a balance and
harmony in our portrait.
4. Additonal elements: And then also, we will add some additional elements
just like a butterfly. Select it and use it is a magic eraser tool to erase
the background or Reply and then decrease its size and just use it here and inverted. So it will look like our portrait is watching
towards the butterfly. Laughter that applies
same gradient map. That specific layer. Butterfly layer by
use of vaping boss. To use bob, just
press the Alt key and click on the layer
where you want to apply. Then we can choose the gradient for the
weight or the butterfly. So this is pretty much we created a structure
of our portrait. After that, we need to create, we need to apply different patrons and we need
to refine this portrait.
5. Glitch Effect: So now we will see how we will apply the glitch effect and the wind effect on our border
it further glitch effect. We need to select
our subject and make a little bit of
selection of our subject. And then we will
go to the filter, and then we will go to the distort and we
will select the wave. And with the way, we will select the square wave. And we will randomize it. And we will play with settings according
to our requirements and it will start
giving a circle. We can select different
parts of our portrait and we can give it
a glitch effect. After Dad, we need to give a little bit of a glitch
effect all over our subject. For it, we will go to the stylized again and we
will select the relevant. It will, it will
give our portrait, whole portrait, a very, THE like, wind like feeling. We have different options in it. Choose the direction from right
to left or left to right. We can use the methods of wind. You can use the blas
metadata window method. And after that click Okay. And we can use this
as our main thing.
6. Pattrens & Texture: So after applying glitch effect and wind effect on our portrait, we need to apply a few more
effects on our artworks. For example, we need to
apply some patterns and some textures on our artwork
to make our artwork. So let's startups. For example, we need to apply pattern
on this mountain layer. So we will go to its
blending option. We will click on that
Pattern Overlay. And then we will the pattern. Then I will click
on the pattern. And now we have different
patterns available for our futuristic portrait to
create vibrant effects. So Farms pattern. So he hurries all the patterns. We will select any
pattern according to our requirement and our
demand for our illustration. So you will select
and experiment all these patterns
and you will choose the best pattern you
like on your art. So I'm choosing this
veteran is looking amazing on our portrait. And after selecting
a pattern and you can play with the scale
for your pattern, you can increase or decrease
the size of your pattern. And also you can change
the direction of your pattern by playing
with the angle. I think 15 will be the perfect size to affect
scale for our veterans, so I'll select it,
it alternates. We can also apply pattern or
our subject layer for it. We will select our object layer and go to its blending option. Then we will select the two
will go to Blending Options, and then we will select
the pattern overlay. And here we have a, we will get all the patterns available for our subject
live in our Patterns folder. So we can select any
pattern that we'd like for our subject layer, which is all about
experimenting. We need to experiment
to veterans. And we began to see what kind of pattern is
good for our subject. And then we can also play with the blending modes
of our pattern. So we will see how a veteran our pattern X
in different forms. And also we can play
with the opacity or better to create the
visibility of our question. So for now, I'm
selecting the overlay as a blending option
and a 100% opacity. It's creating the perfect
blend for my artwork. So let me zoom in with
this portrait so you can see the slide details of our
veteran comes up for trade, which is giving a very beautiful and very
creative effects. So this is how we
can apply patterns on different layers
than our subject, than in our artwork. We can also use veterans
on a very special area. For it, I have a pattern
emerges in my resource folder. We can drag any of our
veteran owned our main file. Or you can choose
any pattern that you like and drag it
to the main file. Sometimes it happens
whenever we are importing any pattern layer or any other image earlier
in our artwork file. It messed up our
clipping mask workflow and our clipping mask. Our clipping mask
became an active. So we need to always
double-check our clipping mask. If we are facing any problem
in our R1 like this, we have disturbed
by our background. So we need to figure out which clipping
mask is disturbed. In this case, our layer one
clipping mask is disturbed. So I will apply the clipping
mask again to our artwork. To apply the clipping mask, we need to press
the Alt key above, above the layer of which we want to apply the clipping mask. And now our clipping
mask is active again. And then we will select our
pattern layer and bring it to the top of the layers
so we can make it visible. And then we will re-size it according to our demand
and our requirements. On which size we
want to place it, on which location we
want to place it. So on the left side, on the right side of
it will look great. And then just a little
bit increase in the size. So it, it faded
with our portrait and it will look very
urbanized feeling. And then also we can
use, it is a tool. We can, we can pick smooth
ER is there to solve from fear the edges
of our pattern. So our pattern is in this
technique, in this way, our pattern is applied on a very specific part
of our teammates. So this is how we can apply
a different gradient maps, different patterns, and different backgrounds and layers to obtain these features. Vibrant portrait effect. And that we can use this
artwork for our album covers, for our forces per
hour, anything, we just need to place any text, only ten, it's working. For example, suppose our
album cover named is love, will use the text tool and just apply the spelling or
apply the word love on it. And then we will
increase the opacity. We will increase the
size of our, our font. And here our album
cover is ready. We can, we can add the
other texts as well, all of the singer and the
production rules or whatever. We can also play with
the fall styles of our artwork as well. For example, we can, we can make the color
of our artwork. We can make the font
color of white, and we can change the size, butyrate less, so it will
look more, more vetted. And then we will use the
white color for our font. So it will look more
better and it will look more harmonized
with our artwork. So this is the final
result of power for rate. And this is all the procedure to create this kind of style.
7. Second Artwork: So now we will explore how
we can create advanced, futuristic vibe brand portraits. So let's start a
server second artwork for the, for this class, and it will be
more advanced from the first portrait,
our first start with. So let's start the class. I have this picture
open and we will create this as our artwork. First of all, we have to select our subject and separated
from the background for it, I will use a quick way which is go to Select and
click on subject. And it will be
automatically creates selection within minutes.
It's a shortcut way. If you want to
create it manually, you can use the Quick
Selection Tool for it. After that, we will
layer via copy it. And here I have our
background layer separate. After that, we will
create a new layer and apply black
background over it. You can choose any
background for it, but I'm graphing the
black background due to my artwork style. So after that, I need to
add some layers on it. I need to add background. This picture. So I
have all of these file included in my resources
so you can use them. Also, I need to add
some mountains. In this here I have a picture of a mountain which we can use. And I need to bring
forward the mountains and need to resize my main
subject picture a little bit. So we can make composition
of our portrait. So often it, I need
to add moon also on the background
of my main subject. And I need to select also I will bring this
layer forward and use a circular selection tool to
separate the moon diagram. After, you can press Command
J to Layer via Copy it, and I will bring it
back to this layer. So pretty much this is our main, main composition and then we will add extra
elements in it. So after applying
the composition, we need to add gradient mass on all these beards
and flipped them. So I need to click the gradient layer for the Greek clipping
mask, you can apply, press the Alt key and just click on it and it will apply on their altered that
you can play with the gradient and choose any
gradients from the list. So we can change the gradient of our gradient map
from any location. We can choose the perfect
gradient, which we like. It's all about experimenting. So we will keep experimenting and we will
finalize our reagents. After that, we will apply the gradient on
our moon as well. For it, we will click
on Gradient Map and create clipping
mask to the moon. Then we will choose any
gradient for our moon. Appears to depend on our personal preferences
or theme of our artwork. On which way we want to
keep our team going on. It's all depends on you. After that, we will also, again create that
gradient map for our main subject layer and create clipping mask
keeping watch season. Very important because
this clipping mask, we'll give our gradients
separate from the background. It's all about, in the end, experimenting with the teams to create something
that can work for us, that can create a surrealistic
effect for our team. After that, we need to apply our gradient
map on this layer, also open mountains and create clipping mask for the
special mountain there. Then we can choose which kind of style we
want, our mountains. It's all about
experimenting you, you can just keep checking all the agents
which you like and which goes on with your
team, with your plans. So here we apply a gradient and now we will try to
refine our portrait. To refine our portrait, we need to apply paint
on all these years. We will start with the
subject layer whose select this object layer and go to the filter and stylize
and oil paint. And then we will make changes according to our requirement
for the oil paints. Just increase a little
bit of stylization so it will give us a smooth
liquid eyes effect all over our illustration. Then apply this effect
on all of your layers. So it will blend all the
layers and keep them. It will start giving and
very realistic painting like artwork feeling to our
structure, to our artwork. Just take your time and
give all the procedure, all the steps part-time. So it will be perfect in
the end as the end result. Here. Now, right now with
smooth out all of our portrait, we need to play with the little bit of
gradient of the moon. We can explain it, meant it with some
other gradients. Oh, there's not looking perfect. We need to add some element. I think this patient
is looking fine. Then we need to separate
our layer from the moon. We need to make our subject
more visible for it, we will create a
new layer and we will place it behind our subject and select
the black color. With the brush tool, we will just apply a little
bit of plaque around our main subject layer
so it will be visible. We can refine this
with the eraser tool or with the change of
opacity of this layer also.
8. Second Artwork p2: After that now we will apply some veterans on our artwork. For this, we'll go to
the blending option of the moon and just let
the pattern overlay. And after it, we will have
options for our patrons. For example, here we have
additional patrons available. And just click on the pattern. And it will take some
time because we have very high resolution
of veterans. Here. Our veterans are
coming over the moon. Just open it and experiment some other patterns
that you like. It will take some
time, of course, just give it each step time. So it will be perfect. Increase the scale of your
pattern a little bit. So it will be more visible. I think 15 will be
perfect for the Federal. Yes. It's looking perfect. We have our pattern
here, slightly visible. And after that, we need to apply some pattern on
the background layer. Also, we will go to the layer and select
Blending Options. And then we will again
select the pattern overlay, the pattern style we want to
apply it on our background. After it, we need to
increase the size of our veterans just a little
bit to get more visible. Just take your time and keep
experimenting with veterans. Now we have our pattern
all over the sky. I think 30 will be the
perfect size for our patrons, for the veteran of sky. And then we will press Okay, so 30 is perfect size for our gradient and it's
looking so nice. So now we need to add some more elements
in our fixture to create it more realistic and
give it more vibrant loop. So I have some beers
in my resources. By example, I have here
a layer of binary code. I need to apply it on the earth. So it will be look more like futuristic feel in the
world of internet. And then I will clipping mask this layer of numbers to them. Again. I will slide this layer to
the moon and clipping mascot. And now I need to erase
some background for it. I will use the eraser tool to merge it with
dark background. Just smooth eraser tool. It's looking perfect right? Now. After that, we need to add
some more extra elements. For example, I have
here it does clear. I will apply dust on it. And I will bring forward my
dusk to the top of the layer. Whenever, when we are applying does sometimes it mess
up our clipping mask. So we need to be confirmed that our clipping
masks are active. And after does we need to keep our dust blending option screen so it
will be visible. This increase the size
of dust little bit. So it will be more visible this little bit more
so it will be more visible. And also we have a
layer of does this, this is also looking perfect. We can create double layer to give it more
realistic feeling. Parser that we can
also add a layer of neon radiant green leaks to get some realistic approach or a more complex
approach in our art work. Just take your time and
keep experimenting. Add additional elements,
add additional layers. It's all about the
experimentation. The more we get creative
with our experiments, with our layers, the
more perfect we get it. We need to add our light layered as the
green blending mood. Light leaks. So it
will look perfect. Just increase the
size of your screen. Near the way started
looking perfect. You can change its rotation. You can change its angle. Until then you are
satisfied with the service. I think this side it will look perfect and
most futuristic. This way It's perfect. So now we almost
completed our portrait. We will explore it a
little bit more to see few more options we
can add to enhance it. For example, we will
create a new layer and just increase
the size of brush and add little bit of black
kid around our portrait. So it will look weird to feeling more close
to feeling for our portrait. And then we can also
try to multiply it with the eraser tool. We can refine it again. How much we want to get on it. We can apply some additional
textures over our portrait. For example, I have
this texture here. I will try to apply this texture and see if this experiment
gets successful or we reach to some
point where we can use it soluble out in the
end experimentations. The way we see our layers, the way we feel our layers, and we will utilize it. The more we have strong
visualization we can, we can achieve better results. I think right now, this is not going to
work because we are already applied our
texture too much, but it's wrong downright
side, we can use it. And so now our artwork
is almost completed. We can use it as the
album cover, as a poster, as our poster for your
exhibition or its general art. You can use any text on it and it will be
start giving us 13. And it will be ready
for our commercial use. For example, we can
add some texts, just increase the
size of your text. And then you can also change
the colors of your text. And it will be start instantly, start giving us some kind of impression of some kind
of message with the text. This is all we can use. This for our artworks in
our commercial projects, in our personal projects.
9. Final Result & Class Project: So here is the final
result of our class. If you have any question
regarding the class, you can ask it in that
discussion section of the class. For the class project, follow my procedure and
create a futuristic, vibrant photos of yourself or your friends also show before
and afters of editing. You can use different
pictures are pictures from the
project resources or from your own gantry and upload it in the project
section of my clouds. Follow me all procedures. First of all, select
the main picture, then create a basic composition, add elements and apply
effect and pattern, save and upload it
as a class project. So I can give you
feedback and critique. Get a chance to win
Amazon gift card or Instagram Photoshop preset. Thank you.
