This project would help you practice whatever you learn. Students can create and share projects in the project carry of this class and can give and receive feedback on their work. Create a Small Easel Using Popsicle Sticks - Raw Materials Required: Hello and welcome to all my students for the second lesson of this class on creating a small easel using popsicle sticks. In this lesson, I'm going to tell you about the raw materials required for making this project on the small easel. Let's jump straight into the demo. In this demo, I'm going to tell you about the raw materials required for making this project on the small easel. Firstly, we'll be needing popsicle sticks. If the project is carried out properly, then I think 20 popsicle sticks should suffice. Secondly, we'll be using the hot glue stick here. I would like to mention that I have used hot glue as the Edesave. If you want, you can use fabric glue or VA. Also, I have taken hot glue because it is quick and easy to handle in fabric glue or PVA. I think it is very messy and it will take drying time. Thirdly, when we are using hot glue, we'll be definitely needing a glugons. Well, fourthly, we'll be needing a small piece of ribbon or a small piece of fabric. Fifthly, we'll be needing a small hinge of the size six eighth of an inch. We can get this from any art and craft store or online as well. Sixthly, we'll be needing a small sandpaper of the size 1 " by 1 ". Next we'll be needing paint and paint. Brush. Paint, you can select in whatever color you want Brush, I would suggest you take a bigger sized one to quickly complete priming and painting the easel. Eight, we'll be needing a pair of scissors. Ninth, we'll be needing wood primer. Here, I have used a homemade primer, but you can get a primer or Esso in any craft store near you or even online. Next, we'll be needing a container for paint. Last but not the least, we'll be needing a cutting mat to correctly place all the popsicle sticks just by looking at it. A big thanks to everyone for watching this video. I'm so glad you joined in. See you in the next class, which would be the making of the small easel. Until then, happy learning. 3. Create a Small Easel Using Popsicle Sticks - The Making: Hello and welcome to all my students for the third lesson of this class on creating a small easel using popsicle sticks. In this lesson, I'm going to teach you how to make this small easel out of popsicle sticks. Let's jump straight into the demo. In this demo, I will be teaching you how to create a small out of popsicle sticks. It is a very simple project for anybody who is interested in learning it. You can use this easel stand for home decor, items like decorating plates or any framed photograph, or you can even use it as a cell phone or tablet stand. Let's jump right into the demo. Here are placing the center stick first and then attaching the bottom and the topmosticks second. Then you need to flip the whole thing and attach the slanting popsicle sticks on the sides. I have done it using my high estimation over my cutting mat. If you want, you can take measurements. Also next, without flipping the whole thing, you need to paste ten popsicle sticks one over the other on top of the bottom popsicle stick. After ten sticks, you need to put a 11th stick a little off the edge towards the top. This stick would help in holding the decoration piece and stop the easel from falling backwards. This is an important step. Then flip the whole thing and paste another stick in between the topmost and bottom stick at the back. Now we need to attach the support at the back. For this, we'll paste a hinge over the topmost stick at the back side. And we'll paste another stick over the hinge. Then we need to attach a ribbon or a fabric in between the bottom stick and the stick we have just now attached. This will prevent the stick supporting the easel from extending very far and hence will not let the easel to fall. Here I have fold edges of the ribbon inwards and then pasted it on the easel. Otherwise the ribbon or the fabric might fray. A big thanks to all of you for watching this video. I'm so glad you joined in. See you in the next class, which would be sanding and priming. Until then, happy learning. 4. Create a Small Easel Using Popsicle Sticks - Sanding & Priming: Hello and welcome to all my students for the fourth lesson of the class on creating a small easel using popsicle sticks. In this lesson, I'm going to teach you how to sand and prime this small easel using sandpaper and wood primer. Let's jump straight into the demo. Before starting with the primer, we have to sand the whole easel using sandpaper to remove any dirt or extra clue and to smoothen the surface. Then we'll have to use a wood primer or gesso, and coat the whole easel with the first layer of it. While priming the surface, make sure that all the corners and joints are covered. Also, make sure that the edges of the popsicle sticks are covered. Priming the surface is important because, firstly, it smoothens the surface. Secondly, it provides a good base for paint to get a hold on the surface. And thirdly, it helps in absorption of paint. Less paint is used After the first layer, we need to sand the whole easel again to smoothen the surface and to remove any extra Prima from the first layer. Then do a second coat of prima. Also, make sure that you are sanding when the first layer is semi dry. If it will get completely dry, then sanding will get very tedious and time and labor consuming. A big thanks to all of you for watching this video. I'm so glad you joined in. See you in the next class, which would be sanding and painting. Until then, happy learning. 5. Create a Small Easel Using Popsicle Sticks - Sanding & Painting: Hello and welcome to all my students for the fifth lesson of the class on creating a small easel using popsicle sticks. In this lesson, I'm going to teach you how to sand and paint this small easel using sandpaper and acrylic paint of your choice. Let's jump straight into the demo before starting to paint, sand the surface after the second layer of primer to smoothen the surface. Then we need to do the first layer of paint over the easel in whatever color you want. Make sure that you are painting all the corners and joints properly. Also, make sure you are painting the edges of all popsicle sticks. After the first layer of paint, we need to sand the surface again. And then do a second layer of paint in the same color or whatever color you want. After the second layer, if you want, you can do a third layer of paint as well. Here I have painted and primed the ribbon as well. This is because after priming and painting, the ribbon becomes a little stiff. Also, it takes a better hold on the popsicle sticks. After painting, you can even apply varnish on the easel, but this completely optional. A big thanks to all of you for watching this video. I'm so glad you joined in. See you in the next concluding lesson of this class. Until then, happy learning. 6. Create a Small Easel Using Popsicle Sticks - Outro: Hello and welcome to all my students for the concluding lesson of this class on creating a small easel using popsicle sticks.
