1. Introduction: Welcome to this wire jewelry tutorial. This pair of earrings has elegance written all over them. At first, this design may appear to be difficult, but it's actually much simpler than you might think. These earrings are actually really quick to make. So once you shape the wire into the corkscrew, all we have to do is secure the ends and then add a ear wire to complete these earring. I would love to see how your design turned out, so please share it with me in the project section or the commons. If you found this video helpful, then you definitely want to check out the other tutorials that I have available. If you haven't already, you can find me at Katie Rose Creates across most social media platforms, including Skillshare, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and the Threads app. Thanks so much for watching. I hope you enjoy this tutorial. Now let's jump into creating the earrings. 2. Corkscrew Earrings: Hello, folks, and welcome back to another tutorial. We will be creating these corkscrew earrings. Starting off with our materials, we will be using a 20 gauge solid brass wire. And then we have a set of ear wires in gold to match. We will be using a ruler to measure our wire, and then I will be using this pin to wrap the corkscrew on. And for our pliers, we have wire cutters, we have plastic coated pliers. We have chain nose pliers, as well as round nose pliers. To get started, I always like to grab the plastic code appliers first to straighten out and smooth the wire. Next, we are going to place our 20 gauge wire onto the ruler and measure 4 ". Holding the wire at that four inch mark, we are then going to bend the wire over. We want this other end of wire to be 4 " as well. We're going to place the wire with that bend at the four inch mark, and then bring the wire over and mark that place with our fingers. We're going to take our wire cutters and snip off the wire. Using the plastic coated pliers, again, we're just going to straighten out the wire before we get into shaping it. Now we can begin creating the corkscrew shape. Placing the center of the wire onto the pin, we're going to bring the ends around and slightly cross them. Crossing the ends and then also separating them so that they bend in the opposite direction. It's going to help us wrap the wire as we place it onto the pin in a vertical position and then begin twisting each end of the wire around the pin in the same direction. Holding that bend in the wire at the tip of the pin tightly in our fingers. We're then going to take both ends of the wire at the same time and use our fingers to wrap them around the pin. Holding the wire firmly onto the pin, we're just going to continue wrapping the wire tightly around the pin, slightly adjusting it so that we have a nice and tight spiral. Using our fingers to press the wire closer together, this will give us a tighter spiral. Now that we've created the spiral, we can remove the pin and then go back in with our fingers to adjust the corkscrew. I want to tighten the end of the spiral here where I was holding it on the pen. That's where I'm going back in with my fingers to bend the wire, twisting the spiral in the same direction as we did when it was on the pen just to tighten up the corkscrew. I spent my time shaping the spiral and corkscrew, but at this point in the process, you can take as much or as little time as you want. Once we get to the next step of where we secure the ends of wire, we will go back in and adjust the spiral again. You can also keep that in mind. Now we are going to begin working on closing off the earring. With about a half inch of wire at the end that is not bent, we are then going to press the wire together so that it meets in the first curve of the spiral. Holding the wire like this, we are then going to use our round nose pliers to begin creating a loop. Placing the pliers onto the wire right above that criss cross, we are then going to take that short end of the wire and bend it all the way back around the pliers to create a loop. You can either use your fingers as I did or grab your chain nose pliers to bend the wire. Once we have wrapped the wire all the way around, we are going to clip off that extra piece of wire. Using our wire cutters, we are going to snip that wire on the inside of the loop. Now that we have created this first loop in the wire, I'm going to take the needle nose pliers once more and we're going to bend this loop into a more vertical position so that it lines up with the corkscrew shape. Now that we have finished adjusting this loop, we are going to take that other end of the wire and begin wrapping it underneath the loop. Holding the wire tightly in your fingers, take your other hand or the chinos pliers and wrap that short end of the wire completely around the loop. Using the plastic coated pliers is another option here for bending and wrapping the wire. You can wrap the wire around as many times as you would like. I went about two times around and used the plastic coated pliers to press down that wrapping as I went. Once we are happy with the way that wire is wrapped underneath the loop, we will then cut off the extra wire. Then we will use our chaos pliers to secure that end of wire against the wrapping. Of course, we don't want that end of wire sticking out, so make sure that it is securely pressed against the wire. Now that we have finished the corkscrew, we are going to attach the ear wire. Using the chainos pliers to twist open the loop on the wire by twisting the wire to the side, we will then add our corkscrew. Then we can close that loop on the ear wire and we have finished creating our first earring. To create the other earring, we of course just need to follow all the same steps as the first one. To do this, we are going to measure that first earring on the ruler and then measure the second piece of wire on the ruler as well and make sure we have matching measurements so that we know where to create the loop on the second earring. After securing the ends, we can go back with our fingers to adjust the spiral so that it matches the other earring. Then all we have to do to finish off that second earring is add on the ear wire. Now you have finished creating a beautiful and unique set of corkscrew earrings. Thanks so much for watching. I'll see you in the next video. 3.
