1. Introduction: In this course, I'm going
to give you many tips to draw rocks metal effects
and many matters. You will see that according to the different object
we're going to draw, you will have to use
different techniques to show the texture
of every object. And we're going to see how to draw rocks, a bottle, metal, wings, and a couple of other things like clothes
or wood on the tree. All these different objects
have to be worked out with different techniques
with the brush. To follow this course,
you can use any kind of tablets or iPad or any
softwares to draw. Me, too present this course, I'm using clips to your paint
and a very simple brush, which is just this one
where I'm going to draw. Like this. You will
see that you can find this kind of tool in every creative software
using graphic tablet. So I remind the different things we're going to see a rock, a wing, metal, would and also a mirror. These different kind
of items have to be worked with very
specific techniques. Okay.
2. Drawing the rock: The first thing we're going
to see is how to draw a rock. I will create a new file, and I will start to draw
the outlines of the object. A rock is something that is not straight on the
different outlines. I can select a rock
that is really natural. I can draw something like this, and I can draw
another line here. Then I can fill some parts
of this rock in black. Sake this, using
the selection tool, selecting this, and
filling with the black. Then another one. I'm always making sure
that there's still some white space remaining. And we have now two
black things here. Now the next step is
to add some hatchings and then I have some black lines here and another etching. And we add the etching where we have the
shadow of this rock. I can change the
orientation of the lines. And also work a gradient with this different
hatching technique. I can draw another line here. You see if I out, we have the main
part of the rock that is touched by
the light here and the one that is down where
the rock is on the floor. So sometimes I'm doing this. I'm feeling something in black, and then I'm doing
hatchings like this and sometime I'm also
crossing the hatching. Like this. I'm trying to draw also some cracks randomly on the
surface of the rock. And I can also do it with the eraser and
adding some cracks. Crossing the black area. Okay. Now, let's go back
on the black brush, and I can add a kind
of big crack here. And there, to show that this is a part of
the rock that is missing, I'm drawing stuff like that. Inside parts again
inside like this. Then on the surface, we can be lighter on the cracks
and on the details. But you don't have to leave one space with too much white. You don't have to overwhelm. You don't have to
overrel the rock with too much details of the white it will be
really the mess. Lo, so we have a rock. If you want to complete
that illustration, you can also have a shadow Okay. The sh is supposed to touch
the object like this and to respect the
overall form of it. Now, I will create a new layer and I will
apply some gray values. Sing the gray, I remain on this brush and I can
increase the side of brush. For instance, filling that Okay. Maybe I can smooth
with this tool, the gray and come back
with a darker gray. Using this o on this
part of the rock. Okay, so we have the rock draw with a
very simple technique. Now let's go to the next video. We're going to draw another
object, which is the wing.
3. Drawing a wing: To draw a wing, we have to think about the
fact that there is some feather all
around the wing, if it is the wing of an angel
or something like this. So I'm going to work
in the first place, the sketch of the object. I'm going to have
something like this. Maybe something like this. Okay. For instance, then we can imagine
the head of the angel, the back, the
shoulder, and so on. But let's focus on let's
be focused on the wing. I will create a new layer. This one, I will decrease the opacity to have
more transparency, and I will focus on the second layer where
I will draw with black color all the outlines
with a small brush. Okay. As this is
full of feather, we have to be really smart in working on the in drawing of these details, it
has to be very light. Then I will draw
details inside so the outline can be really clear, especially where we
have the bone here. Then we can add some details. I will hide the sketch
and now back on this So you can see that
we always draw the feather going
in that direction. And this is probably more
difficult because we have to suggest the position of the feather drawing
too much of them. Okay. And we can use some hatchings to suggest the shadow of the
feathers that are below. Man, I raised Okay. Line. We have something
like this. Of course, I can create a new layer, which I'm playing multiply
mode to get some transparency. This time, I will
probably not use a very strong gray
color with this brush. I will use can I say that is having more
transparency like this one, which is giving
you something like this instead of a
very strong color, and you will see why I'm
playing the gray just where we have some feather stuff, and then I can smooth the color. Like this, when she's giving this wing a
very light aspect. Even if I have to come back with some details here and there, And here is your wing.
4. Drawing the tree: Now, let's try to
draw some wood. I'm going to draw a
piece of wood here. Let's be too fake natural is not having
a very straight form, so I'm doing kind of tree. We have the grass. I'm suggesting
the grass on the floor. Okay. And then I'm going to draw the detail
of the tree so I can I can start drawing
something very dark here. And then smoothing and
continuing this line, but to the detail of the train. Okay. So if you rock the tree like this, you just draw lines that are following the form of the tree. But this is the wood aspect that is very important
to work out. And I'm using brush to
draw all the details. Okay. If this is not enough, you can add some little
etchings in the middle. As we have some black things, we can increase
the shadow effect. We have a very dark tree. Okay. Now let's create a new layer in multiply mode. I would just draw a
very rough gray going through the wood,
and then smoothing. These part, we have
a part of the tree touching the light and the
other one in the shadow and completing with
some gray lines crossing the same way. The wood here. And we have our
tray created here. Okay.
5. Drawing an armor: Now, let's try to
draw some metal. I will draw armor part, which is going to
be the shoulder of an armor, medieval armor. We have this first part
and this first part. We have one line here and there. We can imagine the
arms going like this, like this and the hands
going straight here, but it's not the problem here. I'm going to create some shiny effect only
with black and white. By the way, right. I would add a small line here, and I will be very smooth in using of the S here,
filling with black. Okay. Then I will do some small lines here. Another one here. And then another lines
flowing from up to down. Another wave here. And some other
small wave nearby. Okay. And you have your metal
effect. Very simple. You keep flowing like this from up to down and
you can create such effect. Of course, for the clove, that is composed
composing the arm, you can do a solution
here filling with black, and you have your armor. This is clove and this is armor. Now, let's add some gray values, creating a new layer,
multi play mode, using a smooth gray color and filling only one side
and smoothing color. And using even more gray color. On one side and smoothing in. We can also add a white
point in the middle. And you have your armor. Maybe you can also add a very dark gray
just here and here. And this time, we are done. So if you respect the steps, you will get your armor
very easily done. Okay.
6. Drawing a mirror: The last example will
be a part of a mirror. You will see that
in the first place, I'm going to draw a mirror
with very straight edges. Broken mirror. Then I have to draw the edges and the
thickness of the mirror. By the way, I have to
maybe change this one. Okay. Then to make this
mirror effect real, I'm going to add some. And then I'm drawing
very straight lines. On the corners just following
the same direction. But if we have a crack, we can also small cracks. Okay. Okay. Maybe a small crack in middle. Then the main part, this time is going to
be in the gray values. I would take this tool
and I'm going to add some lines crossing
in the same direction and smoothing like this. And maybe I can come back
on a few details here. And we have a mirror. So all these techniques
we have seen in this course can be
applied to many objects. When you want to draw an object, you probably have
to focus on how to draw this object
with these techniques. I just give you a
couple of examples, but it could be applied
to any kind of object, no matter if it's a battle, some water, stones, rocks, fruits, houses, no matter
what, clouds, and so on. Try to find out when you
want to draw an object, how it may It may be draw with black
and white techniques. You can try to find the different techniques based
on what you learned here, and you can really find
very interesting tips. If you have any questions about drawing an object or another, feel free to contact me
to know more about it. I can help you to find
the right way to draw it. Thank you for
watching this course and see you in the next course.
