1. INTRODUCTION: Hello, I'm Joyce. Welcome to my course. Today, I'll show you how to design and publish a quick and simple one-page website with Canva. This will be done with the Canva Websites feature, which was introduced during create Canva 2022. 2. WHAT WE WILL BE BUILDING: This is what we will be building today. It's a webpage that displays your name, your profession, links to your social media channels, your photo, a short description, and a footer. I will show you how to build two versions. One with a white background and one with a black background. By the end of this course, you will be able to create and publish your own website using Canva. 3. YOUR PROJECT: First, let's talk about your class project. You will be building a personal one-page website on Canvas, similar to this. This website should include your name, profession, and contact details such as social media or email links. Take a screenshot of your website together with your weapon dress, and share it with us in the project gallery. 4. TOOLS: Now let's talk about the tools you will need. You will need a computer, a laptop, or a desktop, an Internet connection, and a Canva account. To create an account with Canva, go to www.canva.com. You can sign up here. Or if you have an account with Canva, you can login. 5. START BUILDING: Now let's create a website. Click the Create a design button and select website. This will bring you to an empty canvas. Alternatively, select the websites button. This will display examples of website templates such as business portfolio, event, education, and retail. Now all you have to do is to select one of these. I will select portfolio website, and this will bring me to a blank page. Before you start creating your website, you should first have an idea of how you want it to look like. You can do this by sketching it out on paper or digitally like this. Now that you have an idea of how you want your website to appear, you can start building it. Let's start by creating a heading. Select the Text button, and then select the Add a heading button. Add your name. Select Canvas sends font and size 60. Next, add a horizontal line below your name. Go to elements, select line, and select a horizontal line. Change the line weight to ten. Select rounded end points. Change the color of the line to read. Now we will add a subheading, select the Text tool, selected a sub heading, and update it to your profession. Change the size to the t. Okay, so before we continue, let's just give this a name. Next, we will add social media icons, go to elements and search for icons representing various social media platforms. I will use LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram. The sizes for both width and height will be 37. Now, I will add an avatar. I can either use my own image or choose one on Canva. Go to elements and key in Avatar, select one that you like or upload your own image and use it in state. Next, place this avatar in a round frame. To do this, go to Elements type frame and select the round frame. Place the avatar inside the frame. Next, type circle in the search bar. Under elements. Select one that you like. Change the color to red and adjust so that it fits well. Next we will add a short description. You can copy and paste the previous text and edit your content here, the font that I will be using is Canvas sense and the size will be 20. We will now add a footer, copy and paste the previous text and revise it. Change the font size to ten, add emojis. To keep this section interesting. I will now hyperlink all the social media icons. To do this, click on one of the icons. You will see three horizontal dots. Click on them and select link, enter the web address here. Follow this step for all the social media icons. 6. PUBLISH WEBSITE: We're now ready to publish our website. But before we do so, let's view how our website looks on desktops and mobile phones. To publish our website. Click the Publish website button. Next. Create a web address by selecting a sub-domain. Now, I will create a favicon, which is an image that is displayed in the browser tab. First, select this icon, the plus sign, and choose an image from your desktop. This image must be 280 by 280. You can create a favicon on Canva. First, select the Create a design button. Next, choose custom size and type the size, which is two by two pixels. Next, upload an image from your desktop and make sure it fits the entire canvas. You can use this image as your favicon by downloading this image to your desktop. Alternatively, you can create an AI generated image. To do this, go to text to image and type a word or phrase. In this instance, I've typed sunflower yellow sketch. Next, download all your images to your desktop. Next, upload your favicon by clicking this icon. Now at some descriptive text here, before pressing the publish button. 7. CREATE ANOTHER VERSION: Now I'm going to create another version. First, duplicate this design. Make a copy and change the name. Select the headers, sub header, description and footer. Change the color of the text to white. Next, select the background and change the color to black. Now select each of the social media icons and change the color to white. And before you publish this website, don't forget to add your favicon. So once again, go to the browser tab preview. Click here. Add your favicon. Adding the AI sunflower image. Selected, done, and publish. Well done. So now we've published our websites. And what you can do now is create your own website and share it with us in the project gallery. If you want to learn more about Canva websites, visit this page and learn more about it. 8. CONCLUSION: Thanks for joining this class. We learn how to create a website using Canva and published it on the Internet. We created two versions of this particular website, one with a black background and one with a white background. If there is one thing I hope you take from this class, it's that you can build a website without knowing how to code. Don't forget to post your projects. I can't wait to see them. And stay tuned for more costs and some technology and design. Bye for now. Oh. 9. BONUS: Text to Image: Here's a quick review of Canvas text to image feature. This feature is great as it allows you to create original images. Get started by creating a canvas. Go to create a design and type card. Next, go to the text to image feature and type of descriptive phrase. I'm going to write blue cat riding a bicycle. Next, press the Generate Image button and wait for the images to show up. This should not take too long. Here are my results. They are pretty relevant, showing a cat riding a bicycle. So this is how you use Canvas text to image feature.
