1. Introduction: We're on an epic journey of discovery, and in this class, we're going beyond reality crafting real and imagined worlds. Welcome to the studio. It's Frole here. I'm a mixed media artist, and I've been painting and exhibiting for over three decades. I've journeyed through most stils of art, and I found that mixed media collage is my absolute most favorite medium. What do I love about mixed media collage? Well, there's absolute freedom of expression. You can't get it wrong. You can create with what you have and from the depth of your imagination. You can express yourself so easily, and with just a few art supplies and a little bit of courage, you can create anything. In this class, we're going out of this world. My intention is to encourage you to create past your own preconceived boundaries, to expand your creativity and stretch your imagination. This is class five celebrate your creative self, and it's the most comprehensive mixed media art class that I've ever created. We'll be heading into unknown lands exploring a steam pump fantasy. We'll challenge our own beliefs about ourselves with a surreal self portrait, step into a parallel universe and explore nature's fantasy. Up up and away for a space odyssey adventure and we'll step back in time for a timeless tale. Then we'll put it all together in mystical realms. It's going to be so much fun. There's so much adventure, and there's so many ways to expand your creativity using your own imagination, a few techniques, some art supplies, and permission to play. You'll be inspired by new techniques and encouraged to create art that you may have not ever tried before. Every project you undertake will reflect your own individual style and interpretation. This art class is about how you personally respond to the prompts. You can't get it wrong. And you can be as inventive and as creative as you allow yourself to be. This class is for anyone wanting to develop their creativity through mixed media collage. Perfect for beginners because I will lead you step by step through every lesson, showing you the exact materials I use and how you can create similar results. Or if you're a more advanced art maker, you're going to thrive with the incentive to create artworks that you may not have ever thought of before. The prompts are there to challenge you, inspire you, and push you on to really develop your own personal expression and your creativity. It's going to be so much fun, so get strapped in because I can't wait to take you on this ride to Infinity and beyond. 2. Material List: Oh. I'm so excited for this class. Class Number five. Beyond reality crafting real and imagined world, how incredibly exciting. Now, this class is going to be completely different to the last class, which is what's so fabulous about the compounding ongoing workshop of 100 days of college, because we're going to learn and grow and develop with each class and learn new skills and techniques, and it's just so much fun. Now, I hope that you're traveling with me along the journey, because we're going to be using prints, papers, Mmm, some trinkets, some bits and pieces found objects from the previous classes. We'll be putting them into this class and using them along the way. So I hope you've stored them in a box. Pretty sure I've mentioned that quite a few times. Now with this class, the material list, we're going to be using acrylic paints, all of the other art supplies that we've used in the previous classes, water based materials, Different paint pens, different pieces, found objects, and the glorious textures from the last class. So we'll be using some acrylic skins and definitely a heap of the jelly prints that we now have accumulating. This class is going to be about putting it all together and creating real and imagined worlds. We're going to be stretching our composition ideas, and we're going to be creating narratives in our collages, thinking about stories, really expanding our imagination, and it's going to be a whole lot of fun. In this class, I'm also going to be using some additional craft papers to help with those imagined worlds. So that's going to be a whole lot of fun. Remember, you don't have to use what I'm using. You can use whatever you have in your crafter room or art room or studio. Make sure you gather all of the art supplies you already have first before rushing out to buy some. But really, we have so many textures from the last class. We've got a lot to use. It's really a lot of fun. Of course, I've put together a full supply list of what I'm using. If you want to find something specific, especially the cool little trinkets. Have a look at the material list. There's links there if you want to find out exactly what the materials are. Let's gather our material. Let's make hard and let's step into unknown words. 3. Steampunk Fantasy: A. Day 29 steam punk fantasy, how very exciting. So what does it mean to create with a steam punk theme. Well, here's a few examples to get you excited. Steam punk can be defined as where history and fantasy collide with technology. How exciting is that? More specifically, steam punk is a genre of science fiction that typically features steam powered machinery rather than advanced technology. Most steam punk culture bases its aesthetic and narrative on machinery from the 19th century. So it's going to be a whole lot of fun. It's going to be very whimsical, and I can't wait to get it started using all the trinkets and bits and pieces that I've collected. So we're going to craft a collage that combines Victorian era elements with futuristic technology, incorporating gears, cogs and metallic textures for a steam punk vibe. Doesn't that sound exotic. I think this class is going to really stretch our imagination and our narrative skills for creating stories within our collages. I'm really excited for it because it's so different from all the other classes that we've been doing in this series. I'm going to put out some steam punk craft paper pieces, definitely some cogs and some trinkets, and let's see what we can create with this absolutely fascinating theme. Right. So I've got these prints and these fabulous jelly prints. I created with this pig basket. Now, I found this fabulous cheap dollar store peg basket for the last class of making textures and look how fabulous they print. It was a whole lot of fun. I'm thinking that cog like shape really works well for my steam punk theme. I'm going to use some of these prints. I also have this fantastic Spira scrapbooking pad, which has got some really great steam punk images in it, and I'm going to definitely choose something from here. To put on these pages. I also have some of my acrylic skins, some trinkets with some cogs and possibly a stencil. All of that's going to fit on my fabulously way too small little art journal. I think I'll start with this. I'm going to put it on this side. I haven't decided exactly what else I might want. But I think that's a good place to start. This side, I'm definitely going to choose one of these pages, possibly This one. I like this. I like this image here. That looks like fun, and I think it's such a good representation of the steam punk seam. I'm going to use this one here. Now, I will put this particular stamperia scrapbooking pad in your notes with a link if you want to find it and if you want to use some of these images, they really are a lot of fun. The backgrounds are all down, beautiful. I love this is so much fun. The print looks so good. Now, I think what I'm going to do next is embellish these pages, and I'm going to add some of these onto that side because I'm just loving them. Then over here, I think I'll add some of the other bits and pieces that are found, and definitely I definitely have to use some of the glorious prints and coal Okay. I know. I did get a little crazy buying them from Amazon. I was so excited for this class. So I'm going to put some on here and also some of my glass beads. I want to put those on as well. And how much can I get on the page? Is the question? If I put that whole piece on, it's going to cover my glorious print which I really like. Oh, man, I'm going to have to cut it down some more so I can see all of the things on my page that I really liked the most. Which one? I've got so many beautiful papers to work with. It's always a tough decision. That's going to go there and then that leaves more of my print exposed, and I'm definitely going to find the next piece to put on there. Right. So my glass bead skins are down. We created those in the last class, and I absolutely love them. They will dry perfectly clear, and I'll see that glorious print pattern underneath. Now, I'm thinking I'd really like to add one of these to them. But I just have to decide do I want silver? That looks good, or do I want the gold color? I'm that too. What do I want the brass. The brass does match this page. Here do I want to be matching? Well, you know, I always do love matching. That's a pretty good one. I like that one. Yes, my art journal is never going to close, but that's okay. I already accepted that a long time ago. I could put that one there. That matches nice too. I do like the gold. That's pretty fun. That one? That one? No, I think I like that one better. So far and do we want silver or do we want the bronze color. That does match this page just saying, well, I'll give it some thought. I'll have to decide, I might even put a few extra ones on like this because that looks pretty cute too, like that. Then we'll move on to this page. I'm going to put these little cold trinkets on with PVA because they would just glue a bit better. You definitely want to use something that's going to dry clear because If you like me, you just might get glue everywhere. That's looking pretty nice. It's matching nice. I'm liking the composition in that. All right. I'll glue those down and then decide what we're doing on this page. The cogs and gears are all glued down. They'll take a fair amount of time to dry, I'd say. Now I just have to decide what am I going to put on this side of the page to add to this glorious background. I don't want to add too much because I really like the pattern, It's such a great picture. And it's just so representational of the steam punk thing. I'm loving it. Now, I could add a few of these if I wanted to, or I could add some more of these ones from that side as well, see? That would work. For sure. For sure. I actually really like that. Because it's mirroring this side of the page, so it creates more of a unity. The colors work really well. That is a strong idea to put on this side, but what else will I add? It needs a little bling, but not the same ones. I've got some of these shapes that might work in this beautiful gold color. A year baby. Look how that shines. We could add some of this on here perhaps maybe baby. Okay. Do we want to add that on there? Well, we're just going to have to decide or I might have another look through the paper pad and see what other images I really like better. I had a little rummage and I decided I want to bring in another color to add a little bit of life and excitement to the page. I'm going to put some of this is Coso paper, the beautiful mulberry paper. I'm going to tear a piece of this some size, haven't quite decided on the size, but it's going to go here. Then I'm going to stencil one of these beautiful keys on it because keys and locks are all part of the steam pump theme, and I think a beautiful key on there probably in the champagne gold densel butter and put it there. That's pretty much all I want to do to the page because I really like the rest of it. I like the feel of it. I love the imagery. Unless I put one of these on here, which could be possible, but at the moment, I'm just thinking, I want to leave the rest of it alone. You never quite. Nothing's a guarantee until you see it at the end. I'll do that. I'll put those little bits on and then we'll see where we're at. The beautiful Mulberry paper looks fabulous, already glued down, and I'm tossing up between the champagne gold or the copper penny. Both would look beautiful. That's going to be richer and warmer. That's going to be obviously more blingy and gold. It is rather a hard decision, but I think I'll go with the copper. Now I've just got to hold the stencil on steady while I put the beautiful key in place. I think I'll go with this shape because it just looks like a lot of fun. Right. How does it look? It looks beautiful. Now, I think I'm going to have to change this piece here because it's too fat and I don't think it's going to stick down well. But other than that, I'm happy with my pages. They look fabulous. I love the steam punk vibe, I now just have to wait for all of these elements to dry. 4. Surreal Self Portrait: A Day 30 surreal self portrait. Create a portrait collage that reflects your real world identity and your inner world of dreams and aspirations. I know it's going to be a challenge. Use photographs of yourself as the foundation and incorporate surreal and imaginative elements to depict the layers of your personality and aspirations. Really stretching ourselves now, it's going to be a challenge number one to use a portrait of yourself. I find it really challenging to find photos that I actually like myself. Okay. And then we want to create something with that photograph that's really expressive and imaginative. And I want to really encourage you to pour it all out there on the collage, really open the door to your heart and your imagination and allow yourself to really express who you are, because nobody's going to see it. It's in your art journal. It's private just for you. Unless you want to show somebody. It's a really safe place to have a go at creating something you've always wanted to or showing a different angle of who you are. Ooh. I know. It's a lot of fun. You might feel a little vulnerable in using a photo of yourself, but I want to encourage you to push past that because it's so good for yourself, your self esteem, your inner core to really allow yourself to express exactly how you want the world to see you. I know it will be a challenge, but I really look forward to maybe seeing what you create if you give me that privilege and honor, I would love to see it. Otherwise, you're very welcome to keep it to yourself, but have a good time and really allow yourself to let go and be as expressive as you can be. Okay, well, you get to see my inner workings. Which which could be a little ravine. But I'm sure I'm going to have lots of color. Although I might use some of those cogs from the previous lesson because I really enjoyed using them. Right. So first of all, you need to choose a photo and you have to choose a photo that you like. Don't pull out anything that you're looking at going, I don't like that because that's not going to help you. Now, this photo that I chose, I absolutely love it. It's nothing special. It's not touched up or making me look glamorous. It's just a simple click Selfie down at the beach. But what's so special about it is that we had just moved here to where we live now. It was a huge upheaval to get here. I was so relieved I was so happy. The day was beautiful, and I was down at the beach at the pier where I absolutely love to go. It's one of my favorite places in Napier. I was just feeling so good and so relieved really to have all that stress finished. Simple selfie, but I look at it and I remember how beautiful the day was and how good I was feeling. I'm going to use this photo and then I'm going to put it into canva.com. Now, this is a really simple program. I use it all the time to create my thumbnails or to fix my digital images for anything that I'm working on. And you can get a free account. So I put the photo into a new document, and then I decided I wanted to add a film strip behind it because there's been such an impact in my life in the last three years since I've been doing my online videos. When I first started on YouTube, I was absolutely terrified. I didn't like the way I looked. I didn't like the way I sounded. I'm so boomy, and I laugh a lot and I'm very me. And looking at yourself can be really difficult. I found that my insecurities were staring me in the face and it was a really difficult process. But to create the videos that I wanted to create, I had to push past all of my fears and phobias and I literally had to look at myself. In the face each week as I was editing the videos, and I had to confront what it is I really felt about what I would see. And I'm hoping that this lesson and this activity is really going to encourage you. Because after a while of creating the videos and looking at myself, I had to really get to a place of self acceptance, and self acceptance is the greatest gift you can give yourself. In fact, you're the only one who can give it to you. If you can choose a photo, look at the photo and go, Okay, well, I don't really like this and this and this. Maybe I've got too many wrinkles or maybe my double chin's not looking good. But if you can look at that photo and accept that this is who you are and give yourself that gift of self acceptance, it really is incredibly empowering for your identity and your sense of self worth. So I've put a film strip behind my favorite little snapshot selfie of me because I've found that doing the videos has really empowered me to accept myself, What's in all to push past the insecurities to overcome those fears and to accept that this is who I am and everybody else can either accept that or not. I think doing the videos has really empowered me even more as a person. I've got my image, I've got my selfie and my film strip. I'm going to print that out now and use it for my collage today. What am I going to put with it? Well, definitely my favorite color. Right. I've got my fabulous self portrait all printed out. I'm going to put it on here. Now, I have to, of course, add some of my favorite color, which is red. And this particular pattern on this paper is a jelly print using my fabulous script palm Sentil slash mask. I love this stencil. The poem means so much to me. I wrote it at a time that I just needed some encouragement. I needed to be my own cheerleader and I wrote this poem and put it into the collage that I was working on. Now I have it as a stencil, in case you haven't heard it, let me share it with you. Dream Big. There's nobody like you. You are unique, one of a kind, irreplaceable. Beautiful. Cherish who you are. Love out loud and allow yourself to shine. Be kind, generous, and know that you are loved. Darling, you are a work of art. I absolutely love it. It means so much. It's the very core of who I am as a person, why I create and what I'm passionate about. I'm really passionate about encouraging others to believe in themselves through the expression of their artwork. That's what really drives me. That's why I create these particular workshops and classes that I create. Now, this piece is the stencil or mask actually is what it is. On the gel plate, we're pulling the print with the paint around the shapes of the letters and the scripting. Then this piece is the beautiful ghost print. Both of them look really good and I might even use both of them. I also have the palm script in a smaller stencil and sometimes that seems to find its way into my collages. I might be doing that as well. I'm also wanting to use some of my steam punk lift over images. I'm really enjoying them and I think they'll really contribute to my story. I think I might use one of these ones because it's been such a metamorphose for me in the past few years, quite significant in the unfolding of my wings as to say. I'm liking one of those perhaps some of these cogs because I find that my brain is always going. It's always on. I really have a hard time sleeping and I'm thinking that this could work really well. I also really like this one because I like the compass. I'd really like to travel some more next year doing some different artworks and things. Perhaps I might even put compass on the page. I don't know, man, all of this is not going to fit obviously and I will have to think about what I really want. But I've got myself portrait. I'm pretty happy with the printout of that, and I'm definitely using some of my favorite stencils with my favorite colors. That's a great place to start. So all these pieces are down, they look great. And I think I might use this whole piece for this side and then decide what I want to add on it. Background on first, loving the color of the bronze and the black, and the red one. They really are my favorite colors with my favorite texture. That's what you've got to do. Just create your page exactly how you want to express who you are, what you love, what you're all about, where you want to head. This is definitely my brain inside. I 3:00 this morning when I remembered something I hadn't done. Okay. Oh, man, I'm telling you. Those cobs are always turning. I think I might put one of those little ones, all those little metal ones in there. I'll have to go and find one of those from yesterday's collage because I think that would really be fun sitting one in there. Maybe two. All right. I'll have a look at that. Backgrounds down. I'll just cut around these shapes. Put them on and then see if I want to add anything else. Might need a little pop of color in this side, perhaps something bright. I'll go and have a look. I ended up putting one of my favorite colored tissue pieces on that side just to bring in some warmth and color because I didn't want the background to be all too somber. Now I've got this beautiful piece going on in the middle. That's going to be fabulous focal point and I've cut out my compass. I'm going to put it underneath it right. There. Right. Those pieces are on and I'm just going to have a little think about whether or not I want to add any more. Definitely going to find a little cog for over on that side. I'll let these pages dry. I'm pretty happy with how they look. I've decided to add a little of my small tiny, we stencil mask onto here to add that extra texture. I love it. It looks fabulous it's so textual and it's beautiful because of course, it's covered in the golden bronze fin from being used for painting. I know it is so exciting because it looks so beautiful. That's going on there. The cogs are going on here, and I'll give you a once it's all nice and dry. 5. Parallel Universe: Day 31 parallel universe. Create a collage that explores the juxtaposition of real world elements and imaginative realms. I know it's so exciting blurring the boundaries between the two. Combine photographs or cut out of everyday scenes with dream like surreal elements to create a composition that transports viewers to a parallel universe. I'll tell you a little secret. I'm totally a sci fi nerd. Absolutely. Love sip I find it so exciting and exhilarating to think of other parallel universes. What would I be like in a parallel universe? I don't know, man. But I love thinking of different things like that. Love science fiction. So I'm pretty excited for these kinds of prompts and themes because it stretches our imagination. It makes us think beyond creating what we think is expected or what we normally do, and that's really stretching for your creativity. To push past the boundaries of what you already know. So I want to encourage you. Maybe you could have a look at some of the surreal artists and see how weird and wacky those paintings are. Some of the artworks you just go. Were you on drugs? And maybe they were. But I think it's a great way to really stretch your creativity and build some artistic muscle. So parallel universe, what does it look like? What elements are you going to do and our inspiration is going to come from the surreal artists. It's going to be a whole lot of fun. Right. So for my parallel universe, I've pulled out some of my digital collage papers that are printed. These are actually laser print. They're not going to bleed when I put copious amounts of mat medium on them. But if you're using prints from your inkjet, you might want to give them a little bit of a spray with the mat varnish because it just helps to seal the papers so that when you're putting your other collage elements or your glue or any kind of fluid medium on top, they don't smear and go everywhere. Now, these ones are copies of my original national geographic dissolved beautiful fantastic collage papers, and I really like using the digital versions even more than the originals because they don't smell and they don't bleed everywhere. I love using the copied versions because the original ones just tend to make a mess. I've got some of those, some of my other digital collage paper, some fabulous interesting jelly prints that I pulled out of the drawer and some no magazines that haven't yet been destroyed by dissolving them with crasol. Yes. I do still have a few I'm just going to look at that, have a flick through the magazines and pull out some images that's going to work for my parallel universe. Love that bird. That's a good place to start. Let's snip him out, and I'm thinking, I'm going to put him onto something else. Let's put the bird head on something because we're being inspired by the surrealist artists and really, you can't get any more weird than those surreal artists. I showed you some of them. I'm telling you they are weird. I'm going to have a flip through. These look at that. I love National Geographic magazines. The burn photographs are absolutely beautiful. Look at the colors. They're just glorious. I might just keep that picture aside. Well, that's fun, too. A man, now I got to decide. Right, I'll just have a quick flick through these magazines and pull out some bits that I think might work well for my parallel universe. Yeah. I also created this fabulous image transfer on the gel plate. I've used T bag paper to pull the print and that's the first time I've ever used it. But it feels really nice, I'm definitely going to have to explore it some more. What I'm thinking is I want something real to put in my parallel universe. But I put her on this very transparent paper because I'm thinking about adding one of these textures under her so she doesn't look so normal. If I put her on top of that, the paper should go quite transparent and then she'll probably look like a lizard. Because it's got these fabulous colors and textures. Then we can't have her looking normal. It's a surreal piece of art. I'm going to try that idea, and then I might add some more elements around the side of her as well. So you just have to get an idea head in a direction and then develop that idea as you go. You can always add more images to it, you can paint over it, you can change it. So don't be stressed out about starting or trying because you just have to get off the starting box and get moving. And then once you're moving, you can chop and change your mind, come up with some more ideas and see where you're at. So image, transfer, a few jelly prints, some digital collage papers and some GO magazines, and I'm pretty happy. I think I'll start by putting down my background of my digital print onto there and then putting her face on there. Then once that's glued down, I'll think about what I'm going to add around the side. Hopefully you should see some of that image coming through. On this side, look, I found another astronaut. I'm pretty excited about that. I'm going to glue that on there and then I'm going to put the head of the bird on. I'm pretty excited about this. I don't think I've ever actually created a surrealist piece, so it's all very exciting. I might put some of this background around the side there perhaps underneath. I think that would work. I'm liking some of this on the side as well. Just a few of those numbers and things, or I might use some of my beautiful dance moves writing. That might look all right too. Maybe I should put some under her face. Yeah. Something is going to happen. Definitely. Something like that. This background was such a good decision. It looks beautiful and it really sees my space. Okay. Same so much of it's getting covered up. Well, least I know how beautiful it was and the little bit that you can see looks amazing. What about my fabulous lizard girl? She's come out well. The tabag paper has dissolved nicely. Astronauts on and I've chopped out that fabulous bird head. Man, he's just too cute. I had to use him. I'm going to put him right there. Then I'm going to decide what else I want to add on this page. Thinking this one's filled up quite nicely with the astronaut and my beautiful background. But I might add some more elements to this page. The whole idea of this parallel universe and the surrealist art has been just so much fun. Have a look at that. I'm loving it. It makes me smile. Right. What's next? So I added some craft paper onto that side of trees because we can't have it looking to normal. We're doing a surrealist piece. So now I'm going to add some other shapes onto the page just to make it look even more weird. I'm telling you this has really been a lot of fun letting your imagination run wild and crazy with whatever you can possibly think of. Adding a few other little elements to the page just to make it more bizarre, more surreal. What about a fish? I'm thinking? Yes. Let's put a fish on the trees. That's work. And what else have I got, I've got some more fish. Well, maybe we'll add some more fish. Then the fish are down and I've decided to add a little bit of bling to the page just to lift the colors with one of my beautiful dance moves stencils, which I've put with stencil butter onto white tissue. Now the reason I did that was because the white tissue should dissolve quite well. Then you just see the beautiful shape of the dance moves that hopefully, blend quite well into the background. It just means that it's a little easier than trying to get the stencil in the right place where I want it by having it on the white tissue. But we'll see how it dries if that theory is correct. I like that you can see a little eye peeking through there. You like my flying fish. It really is all a bit of fun and we'll see how it dries up, and if I add anything else to it. Mm, a little tempted with this owl. He's rather cute, don't you think? Yeah, maybe I just might have to finish it with this crowned owl in the corner like that. Question is, is it bizarre enough, yes, I think so. What do you think of my parallel universe? I had so much fun putting these elements together, getting really creative and knowing you just can't be too bizarre with this theme. Looking at the surrealist artists, you can see how weird and wacky the art movement was. It's really a lot of fun to allow yourself to play, to explore, put something crazy together. I really hope I get to see some of your universes? That would be just so much fun. 6. Nature's Fantasy: Day 32, nature's fantasy. Explore the magic of nature by crafting a fantastical world inspired by the beauty of the natural realm. Mix real world flora and fauna with your imaginative creations in a collage that celebrates the wonders of the Earth. So you can be as real or imaginative as you want to be. Maybe you want your collage to be more realistic. Perhaps the parallel universe sent you over the edge. Or maybe you're really enjoying these imaginative landscapes and creative realms and you want to keep going incorporating these fantastical themes into your college. Really, it's up to you Mm hmm. I think I'm going to do a bit of both, a little bit of nature, a little bit of fantasy and see where my fantastic nature inspired collage ends up. It might be on another planet. But I know it's going to be a whole lot of fun. Don't forget to use the prints and the textures from the previous classes because I know they're going to work really well with these themes. Right. Let's get the art journal out. Find all the supplies and let's make something amazing. Pretty excited for this lesson and I had a brilliant idea. I decided I wanted to create some jelly prints with some actual fresh flowers. I walked to my local floors shop. It's actually called the village Florist. The floor shop is absolutely beautiful. Don't they smell amazing when you walk in. A all of the colors and shapes of the glorious flowers, and I ended up deciding on one of the beautiful poses. It was actually quite hard. There's so many to choose from. But I came home with this one and I'm pretty happy with my choice. The lady at the Florist actually gave me some extra flowers because I told her I was going to print with them. She gave me some flowers that were a little bit old or that she couldn't use. I thought that was pretty kind. I've pulled out my jelly plate and I decided I would use my extra flowers first and see how they print. I'm putting muted pink on the plate. One simple color, I decided I was going to start very simply, push the flowers onto the plate, see how they print, and then I thought I would develop my brilliant ideas from there. Using the extra flowers, they work so good. Look how detailed they are and how beautiful they look. I pushed the flowers into the paint and pulled the print straight away, and I'm using tea bag paper. I've never actually used tea bag paper before. I bought some recently, and I'm pretty happy with it. It's pretty soft. It pulls quite well. It's very strong. I'm going to experiment some more with it. It's definitely not as strong as wet strength tissue, but it does feel more textured and softer, which I really like. Look at the incredible detail of the flowers. I'm so impressed with how they printed. Yes, of course, I might have gotten into a printing frenzy. Next, I pulled apart the posy and picked out some more of the flowers. I'm using orange on the plate, definitely influenced by the beautiful colors of the flowers. Even the posy, yes. I picked the one with the orange paper around it because I just love these colors. They're so happy to me. I'm using a couple of different sizes on the plate, which look really good. The flowers just work like a stamp, basically. Then I pulled the print with liquitex basics in gold. Look how fabulous it is. This one's actually still got some of the ghost print from the print before, from that color, but it works really well because it's a really nice texture. I like all the different shapes and the variety of the flowers. I think it's working really well, and it's just so easy to do. This one on being very brave and starting with yellow. This is a nickel so yellow. It's a beautiful paint. It's very transparent. Of course, I had to throw in a bit of orange because it was just a little too yellow. I pushed the different flowers on and let it dry. I rolled on the next color. I think it was magenta, and I sprayed it with a little water. Now, you know how this technique goes. You have to wait for each layer to dry before you move on to the next one. That's going to make successful prints and a really beautiful texture. Then I pulled this print with bronze. Now, what I absolutely love about this print is I put the flowers back on the same places when the paint had already started to dry. As I pushed the flower on and pulled it off, it pulled more of the paint off. I have more of the background color coming through, and I think that works really well because it makes a more defined print you can see bigger areas of the flowers, and that really is a whole lot of fun. I love that you can see the beautiful bronze coming through. That worked really well. There's so many ways to print these flowers, you just have to experiment, try some ideas and see what works. Now the next one, I started with muted pink again and created my beautiful flower pattern design. I then put on a layer of transparent iron oxide, and of course, I sprayed it with gold mine because now I'm just on a roll. Now I just have to spray that beautiful bling everywhere. I pulled the print with titan buff and it did pull a little on the plate. Yes, because there was a spot of the gold mine in that wasn't quite dry. Now, what did I say? Wait for each layer to dry. But I absolutely love the details in these prints and I was having so much fun. I was getting so excited. I just wanted to try the next one and the next one. You can see the beautiful gold mine in this, you can see the splashes coming through there. This one is really quite detailed in the beautiful flower prints. I'm really loving and I think it looks beautiful. Remember, You do have to wait for the layers to dry. Then I pulled the posy apart a little more and pulled out some of the leaves and some of the smaller flowers. I wanted to see what the other shapes of the flowers would print like, if they would print at all because they're very delicate and they're really tiny. I wasn't sure how well they would print if they would leave much of a mark. I was using muted gray with this one. It's a really nice color. I'm really enjoying these liquitex muted series at the moment. I think the colors are beautiful. Now, the flowers work like a mask. The first print, you're just taking off the paint from around the flowers. It's the ghost print that we really want. Of course, you can add color to that first print. You can print over it again with more shakes, which we've done before, or you could spray it with the zinc, or you can use it in your collage to add multiple layers because if you've put it on any of the tissues, you'll be able to see underneath layers coming through. There's so many possibilities for using that print. But of course, I absolutely love the ghost print best. I gave it a spray with a little bronze shimmer and pulled the print with tightened buff. I absolutely love it. Look how good it looks. You could see the texture there from the beautiful spray bronze shimmer on the print, and I really love the detail of the flowers and the leaves in the beautiful gray color. It works better than I thought it was going to. I'm pretty happy with it. Of course, I had to do it again. Why would we want to do it once when we can do it twice. I'm using the same muted gray with this one, putting a bunch of the little tiny flowers and the leaves on the plate, pushing it down with wet strength, tissue, just to get all of that paint from around the flowers. Now you have to give it a really good press with your fingers to get in and around all those little bits and pieces. I even gave it a roll with my brayer just to make sure it was really getting contact with the gel plate. Because you want to try and get as much detail in that ghost print as you can. Now, this time after the ghost print was dry, I put on another layer of paint and decided to push the flowers into it because I wanted to create a background of the flower shapes behind the beautiful little tiny ones and the leaves that I was printing with the ghost print. I decided, let's try it. I pushed the flowers into the paint. Of course, you have to let it dry, gave it a spritz everything got thrown onto this print. And then I pulled the print with titan bath. I absolutely love it. You can see the glorious flowers here. You can see the leaves in the muted gray. You can see all the tiny little ones. But then behind that, you can see the fabulous shapes of the flower prints where I've pushed it into. I think it was transparent enoxide that I was using. Pushed those flowers onto the plate to get that great design behind it as a background. I'm loving it. I think it looks fabulous. And I really liked the way that I built up the ideas and created the prints consecutively, using the flowers and then using the little ones. Then the last one has got everything in it. Flowers and the little ones, the leaves and the bronze shimmer, all of the above, and I enjoyed myself immensely. Possibilities are endless. I could have kept going and going and printing and printing because I was having so much fun. I'm quite surprised at how detailed the flowers print. I'm really impressed with them. Now I just have to decide which ones do I want to use to create my collage, my nature's fantasy, am I going to add something other worldly in my collage? That's a question too, or am I just going to leave it with these beautiful floor prints. Well, we'll have to pull out the art journal, have a little think and see what we're going to create. 7. Finishing Project 32: I've got my art journal out and all of my prints. Now the problem is going to be deciding because I absolutely love all of them. I love the gold shining through on this one. That would work really well. I really like these ones as well. I have to decide which ones I'm going to use, and then what am I going to add to it to make it a little bit different? Give it another dimension. I'm not sure because they're just beautiful and I really love them. Look at that the way that flower printed. These ones with the beautiful sparkly gold mine on the man, that just glorious. Now, I have to decide I'm going to have to break it down into what can I not live without. I'm thinking maybe this one because I just think the prince really defined well, and it's got my sparkly bling which I love. Then I was thinking if I put a print on like this. I think I might add some glass beads as they added dimension. If I put a stencil on in glass beads, which has got some flowery shapes on top of my flower print, I'm adding another dimension to it. I really like the thought of that. Now, we looked at glass beads in the previous class. If you've still got some, how much fun is this? I love using the materials a few times. When I put them on, they're going to be completely white and then they usually take at least 24 hours, sometimes two days depending on the weather to dry and they dry perfectly clear. But I want to have that glorious shape over the top of these beautiful flowers. Now, the, do I want to use this print or do I want to use? This print man, it's going to be a tough one to decide that could look quite dramatic on that color. That could work really well. A few of them would work really well. On this side, do I want this print or this print because I really like the way it's so different to the flower print. Maybe I'll use this one because I love how it's got everything on it. It's got those shapes and the flower is printed behind. Then I'm going to have to find something else to add a little extra three dimensional something to the print just to give it a little bit something special. Well, I'll nail down that decision, glue them onto my pages and then we'll see where we're at. Well, it definitely wasn't an easy decision because I love all of the prints. I think they turned out really well. I think they turned out better than I actually expected, which is really nice. I decided on these ones because I think what I like about it is that it will remind me when I flip back through my art journal, what the technique was and what I liked about it. I absolutely love the detail in this print. I think it turned out amazing. I like the way this one has the flower prints behind it and the smaller flowers and leaves. Ghost print on the top. It's a good example of so many options. There's so many possibilities and things you can try with such a simple technique. The backgrounds are down. Definitely going with my glass bead idea. I think that'll be a lot of fun. I'm going to put that next on this side with dis stencil and have a rummage around and find something to put on here. I've got my glass bead and I'm putting it on this stencil, which fits perfect. I love the glass beads. I love how beautiful and clear they go, adding another dimension to the artwork without adding any more color. But the beautiful texture is just glorious. I'll put this on. It's adding another dimension to my flowers, which I'm really excited about. It's like the invisible realm. That's how I see it. I might just put it in different places, not over the entire stencil, in bits and pieces of the design. That would be fun. Then we'll have to leave it to dry and I've got to find something for the other side. I think this is going to look just beautiful. I think that's enough mostly got it in the center, and I'm happy about this plan. Let's have a look at that. Yes, when n is perfectly clear, it's going to be beautiful and shine with the glorious glass beads, and it adds that invisible realm or other dimensions to my. Nature's fantasy. I just love it. Glass beads on and I've pulled out this lotus flower mask. This is from PMR Studio. As you can see, it's got the beautiful ridescent bronze fine on it. Of course it has because that's what I like to print with. But what do you think? I'm thinking it would look amazing, putting it on there. It gives the flowers another dimension, a three dimensional aspect to the page and it really suits the design. I think the shape of this lotus flower suits the shape of these flowers. I think it looks great. I'm going to do it. I'm going to stick it right there like that. On the page. I love it. I think it finishes that really well. That's going to dry perfectly clear and look beautiful and shiny. I'm really happy with these collage pages. I loved making the prints. It was such a pleasure, such a joy playing with the flowers, and the natural textures on the gel plate. I definitely want to do that again. That was really fun. I think there's so many ideas that we can try using the actual natural elements on the plate. Different layers, different textures. As we move along in the class and we learn different techniques, we just get to build them into other ideas. I really liked spraying the layer on the gel plate. I thought that worked really well to add the texture behind the flowers. It's really fun to keep using the techniques, keep learning, growing and developing. That's the whole point of the class. It's about developing your creativity, learning different techniques, experimenting along the way, and growing as a creative person. Of course, it has to be a lot of fun or I don't want to play. Which is why we have such a variety of themes and textures. By the time you actually finish all 100 days of this whole series, you will know everything that I know. Isn't that just exciting? I think that's pretty exciting. So I'm going to let these pages. I'll give you a I can't wait to see what you're creating with this theme. Don't forget you can post as many photos as you'd like in my Facebook group. I just would love to see what you're working on. Okay. We'll let that dry give you a close up, and then we're on to the next lesson. I think it's space odyssey. How exciting. 8. Space Odyssey Adventure: Day 33, and we have space odyssey adventure. Journey into the cosmos and construct your own space odyssey collage. Merge reality with science fiction by depicting intergalactic landscapes, planets, and extraterrestrial life forms. We're looking for ET. It's going to be a whole lot of fun. What textures are you going to use to create those planets or moon scapes. Oh, yeah, that could be a whole lot of fun. We could pull out some of those paste and gels from the previous lesson. And what is your galactic space odyssey going to incorporate? Are you going to have rockets or planets or little green men? I know. You're going to really have to stretch your imagination, push past the boundaries of what you've created before, and see where we end up. Maybe we're going to the moon. Maybe we're going past the moon, It's a whole lot of fun. I'm so excited to be on this journey with you and I can't wait to see what you're going to create. I'm so excited for this class on our space odyssey. First of all, we're going to make some incredible universe prints with the gel plate. I'm making plain colored blue background papers first because then we're going to be adding a secret ingredient. Right. Now, my blue papers have just barely dry. And we're going to add the next layer using the secret ingredient to create our fabulous universe papers on the gel plate. Adding a little ultramarine violet and some cobalt blue onto the plate, and then I'm pulling out the secret ingredient of baby powder. Because what we're doing is creating fabulous starlight textures on the gel print using the fabulous baby powder. Now, this is the blue background that I already painted. It's only just dry, but when you put the second layer on with the fabulous baby powder on the plate and it smells really nice. Then it's going to create wonderful starlight galaxy looking prints. T Now, what we're going to do is add another layer, and we're going to use some interference paint because the galaxy is not just blue, it's got incredible colors through it. If the baby powder doesn't get absorbed into your paint, you can easily dust it off once your print is dry. Let's have a little bit of a printing frenzy, create some galaxy type prints. And then I think I'm going to pull out that Nat Geo magazine with the space theme and have a look at what I want to put together for the collage. Using the space odyssey theme is so much fun. Have a real experiment, play with some printing and see what you create. The prints do look better as you add more and more layers to them. Also, the plate builds up with the paint and the baby powder. The baby powder basically is just creating a resist on the paper, resisting the paint and creating that star like. Texture onto it. Now, I'm adding a little bit of interference paint on top of this one. Just like that, little bit of texture. Some of my fabulous psi's secret ingredient. Which is coming down way too fast, a blue background. Let's have a look and see how that prints. You just have to try different ideas and see what's going to work the best. Now that one's looking a bit more galaxy like. Now we're getting somewhere. Once the plate builds up with too much, you either have to pull the ghost print or clean it off. But it's only baby founder, it's not too bad. I might try using straight onto a white piece this time because I have such a build up of the plate. Now, maybe I have to push the bottle a little bit softer because it comes out such big clumps, but look how fabulous it looks. I might leave this piece of paper on the plate just a little bit longer so that it gets a chance to pull up some of those underneath layers because they're going to be looking beautiful. There's quite a few layers on there now. It's quite a fascinating technique. It's really easy just throwing the baby powder on the plate. You just have to remember to have some fun experiment and try layering your prints because that's what I have found works a whole lot better. Still not quite picking up all the way to the bottom, but that's okay because it's going to create a great ghost print once I finished printing. But look how fabulous that looks. That's definitely got the galaxy feel and so easy, some blue paint, a little bit of purple or what was it called medium violets and some baby powder. Walla. Away we go, we're into the universe. That is just so much fun. The Interference paint really does add that galaxy color to it. A few stars, let's print. Right. So then I decided my galaxy needed a supernova or something, some stars exploding or something. So I put some of the descent bronze fine on the plane. It didn't turn out exactly how I had in my mind, but I sprayed it with some water, pushed the paint around, and decided to leave it and see how it dries. Now the thing is, you do have to experiment, try your ideas and don't be afraid to get it wrong or to muck it up because you can print straight over it. The next print I took, of course, already had the leftover bronze on the plate. I rolled on some of the beautiful iridescent blue fine and some of the violet as well. Put it on a print I'd already taken and pulled it. It looks fabulous. I absolutely love it, and it's my favorite so far. You do have to create several layers of the prints. They do work better if you keep printing on top of them. The hard part is waiting for them to dry, of course, that's always a problem. The experiments have worked well. I'm really happy with the print, and I think there's so much to explore with such a simple technique of using baby powder. Right. I have my beautiful galaxy prints. I'm so happy with them, they look glorious and what I love about this technique is how different the prints will look depending on what you do with the layers and the powder and also the consecutive printing of putting it on the paper. This is one of the first prints it looks fabulous just like it is. You'll notice that if I rub it, there's no powder actually on it because all the powder stuck to the plate and it created that resist with the paint and there's none actually on the paper. But as you continue to print and you're rolling over your paint and adding more and more powder to the plate. It does build up on your print like this one. You can see how that's rubbing off. Now, that's not a problem. You can easily wipe it with a cloth if you want to make sure that all of the powder is off the print. But I'm going to leave it alone because I actually don't mind it. I think it's all right. It's going in my art journal. It's not a matter of stressing out about being archival. It's all a bit of fun. I don't mind being on the paper. This one is one of my favorites. I love it. I think this one looks very galaxy like. Remember, you do have to have a little experiment, try different ideas, add more layers to your prints. They do look a lot better. This one was the ghost print from one of the last prints that I took. Look how good it looks. It's really patchy because it had a lot of dried paint still left on the plate and a lot of the baby powder and when I pulled it, it come up, all kind of lay like that? I love it. I think it's a whole lot of fun. I'm definitely using these in the collage today, and I'm going to have a flip through my National Geographic magazine and definitely pull out something from here to add onto the fabulous galaxy prints. What's it going to be? What am I going to be able to find You never quite know. That's my plan. That's where I'm definitely. I'm pulling him out for sure. I'm going to float him in space. I might have to make a moon or a planet. Maybe I'll pull out some coso paper and make a moon with that. That could be fun because they've got some beautiful textured papers and look at these planets. I definitely maybe might cut out a couple of these planets and put on my beautiful galaxy prints. That's what I'm going to do. How exciting space dy adventure. Here we go. A. 9. Finishing Project 33: Okay. Got my art journal. Now, I just have to decide, I'm definitely going to use this one. I really like this print. It's got all of those elements of the baby powder and a little bit of bronze. The interference paint didn't that turn out gorgeous, love those colors. So that's going to go there, and then I'm going to add touch decision. The prints are so beautiful and I've got so many Which one do I want on this side? That's pretty nice. Or maybe this one, which is a little bit darker. Okay. I think I'll put this one on this side, and then I'm going to cut out some bits from the Nat Geo magazine and add them into my beautiful space. Right. So the background, beautiful pages are down, but they're so glorious. The textures and the colors. It's such a unique way of creating the prints. I absolutely love them. I don't want to put too much on them because I don't want to cover them up. Look at the combination of colors. I mean, you couldn't reproduce it in a fit. Even if you try, you can never reproduce them. Again, that's absolutely beautiful. I'm going to put a little something but definitely not too much. I pulled the planets out of the Nat Geo magazine and the little astronaut floating in space. I just have to work out how I want to position them. They're pretty nice. And I think I might add a moon to the page. I've pulled out some Coso paper. Look how beautiful that is. That's definitely moon texture like. If I put it on the page like that, I'm thinking probably a sign plate, moon, what do you think? What do you think? What do you think? Yeah? Something like that. I'm going to draw around this with a moon s shaped plate and see how that looks. I've got all my elements in place, fabulous floating astronaut in the avise the galaxy. I'm going to put him right there. And I've got my mood. I might give that a bit of spray, actually, just to deepen the color a little. Perhaps we'll see how it dries up. Because we could always paint it once it's dry with a little bit of maybe silver or something gray just to give it a bit more tone or quality. That's such beautiful so paper. I love the circles, the.in that's just working so well for our moonscape. Then I've got the other beautiful planets. I'm going to put that one in the middle of the pages and then these two over here. I can still see lots of my beautiful background, but it's got the glorious galaxies. I might even put a smaller one there. Yeah, I might do that. Well, we'll see how all this dries up and then think about whether or not I want to add anything else. Go to add some ridescent silver to my beautiful moon because it's just a little bit too white. And the moon is definitely not that white. I'm just going to gray it up a bit, add a bit of color to it. See how that looks. I like the way to dry it up you can see the underneath color coming through the holes, they look really good. The sf is quite shiny. Might look even better than I thought it was going to. So I'm pretty happy with my pages. I'm loving my space odyssey. It was so much fun creating those papers with the baby powder. Have a plate, have a bit of fun. You don't have to use baby powder, if you don't want to. You can get the same effect using cornstarch. That works just the same. Yes, I've tried both. I just like the baby powder because it smells better. Anyway, I'm pretty happy with my space odyssey. Little bit of shine on the moon. Yeah. I might even give it a bit of a spray just to give it a bit of texture. How about a little bit of steel summit? Oh, yeah, that's much better. Look at that. That's what I'm looking for. I'll let the page dry, give you a close, pretty happy with our space odyssey. That was a whole lot of fun. 10. Timeless Tales: Day 34 timeless tales dive into the past or envision the future by crafting a collage inspired by timeless tales, blend historical elements with futuristic designs or create a unique narrative that spans centuries in a single artwork. So what are you going to incorporate? Maybe you've got some ancestors that you want to bring into this one or maybe you just want it to be all about an imaginative time period. We could pull in some of that steam punk craft paper that I used in the first class because it does have that Victorian era with a little bit of maybe futuristic ideas, Oh, even some of those surreal images or pictures could work really well in this one. I think this one could be quite a mix of a few of the other lessons from the papers and pictures that we've collected. Or you can create something completely different altogether. It really is open to interpretation. It's definitely all about expanding your imagination and your narrative skills in creating those collages. Flex those muscles, and let's see what we can create. Recently, Mum and I moved to Napa. It's the Art Deco Capital of New Zealand, and I just love this golden era of beautiful opulent colors and design. So this particular era is going to be the starting place for my timeless tales today. I'm pretty excited because I absolutely love the colors and the design and the opulence and the metallic gold, of course. So here we are taking a vintage car tour, and of course, we had to dress up. Don't we look absolutely fabulous. I absolutely love the art deco and the art uvea style. It's so glamorous, it's so opules it's so much fun. In this inspiration, I decided to pull out all of my gold paint. I wanted to have a look and see what I had in the cupboard, digging to the back of the drawers to find things that you haven't used for a while, and you often forget that you've even got them. I wanted to look at the different tones, the different shades because different brands have a slightly different look to the different color even if it says gold. I decided to swatch it out on my watercolor sheet. And it was really fun. I started with the acrylic paints in the different brands, labeling them so I knew exactly who creates which color. Then I went on to pull out the inks. There's a few different inks, the liquitex inks and the Chinese gold inks, which I think is the most metallic looking. I even put the zinc spray in, which is my favorite in gold mine. That looks really cool. Then I went on to pull out the posca pens. I know I didn't even remember that I had so many variations of gold in the carpet. The posca pen in metallic gold looks quite good. But this new one that I've got, it's called fans Archie the brand. One of the girls told me about it. I didn't even know it existed. It's a similar style to the Posca Mopapen. It's got a nice fat top and nib and the paint flows out really well. I was really excited to use it because I hadn't used it before and I bought it recently from Amazon. It flows pretty well and it's got a really nice gold color. I think that's going to be a winner. I also pulled out the metallic watercolor paints. I bought those ages ago. Had a little look at the gold in those shades and they're pretty nice too. The interference gold doesn't show up much on the white. You have to put it on black to really see the quality and the shine of the paint. But that's worth putting on the sheet just so I remember it's there, and of course, stencil butter in champagne gold. We can't go past that. Now, doesn't this sheet look absolutely beautiful? I love it. I love looking at it and thinking about it. If I was in a hurry and wanted to make some prints, I would know which particular tone of gold I wanted to use. It was so fun. I decided I was going to do it with the copper and the bronze. What I found quite amazing about these two metallic colors is how different they are with the different brands. Some of the copper colors in the brands are really similar. You can see that they're almost identical, but some of them are really different. This one is the high flow. To me, that one looks almost like the bronze. This is the liquiitx bronze, which is a brownie bronze compared to the iridescent bronze fine. Look how different they are. And here's the bronze shimmer. That's a whole lot of fun too. This is the liquitch inks and look how dark that bronze is. Compared to the poscapen. I know. It was really fun. I even tried some of the metallic watercolors in the bronze. I'm pretty impressed with how many actually have. Here's another fans Archie marker. That works really well. Of course, the stencil butter, we have to have that, and I'm just so excited for all of these beautiful metallic colors. It's a really good idea to swatch out colors like this. You could pull out all of your metallic paints, have a look and see what you've got, Acrylic paints, paint markers, watercolors, inks. I mean, it really does go on. We do get a little carried away when we're buying different art supplies, or is that just me? Okay. Now I've pulled out all of these magnificent, beautiful metallic paints. I just have to create some jelly prints from my collage. I started with some one color solid backgrounds. Absolutely, beautiful, opulent, gold, and bronze and copper. Oh, man, I just had so much fun. Next, I tried with the fans Archie paint marker straight onto the plate, adding some more layers and pulling the print. It makes for such an interesting pattern and a fabulous background. I put the poscmpa on the plate, but it was a little thick. And a little smudgy. But if you wait for things to dry, you can put more layers on. Then I put a stencil over the top and it looks absolutely fabulous. Of course, this one, I had to pull out the gorgeous bronze, ridescent bronze fine, my absolute favorite. I'm pulling out some of my favorite stencils. These are from the PMR Studio. I just love them. They make great designs, great patterns. With this one here, I started with the posca pens, I started drawing on it in dashes and circles and making marks. Then after the posca pen was dry, I pulled the print and finally, I added some stencil in copper onto it, which looks really cool. I'm pretty happy with that because it's got a really interesting texture. Of course, I kept printing and printing as I do. Now I have a whole beautiful collection of opulent papers in beautiful, rich metallic tones. I just love it, and I'm going to have to decide now, what am I going to use for the collage? The theme is timeless tales. My era is art deco. But what will I use for the focal point? That's going to be the question. Right. Art journal is out and there's so many possibilities with all of these beautiful prints. Plus I have this fabulous stampia scrapbooking paper, which is very clip inspired. The beautiful opulent art uvea, style of art. Anything from here would work with my theme. It's just going to be a matter of deciding which I want to add. Oh, that looks cute. I like that idea. Some of these pages are pretty fun. That looks good. I really like that. I could put that with some of my fabulous jelly prints, or I could just do something abstract. That looks pretty good, too. I'm loving all of it. I could even just take a section of that. That would work as well. Oh, man, how am I going to decide? It's also beautiful and there's so many possibilities. Let's start with putting on some gel prints on thinking. I'm loving these colors. It's just going to be a matter of deciding which colors I like. This one because it's really dramatic. Yes, I do love me a bit of drama. Maybe I'll just put a piece of that one there. Perhaps some with the beautiful. Copper tone on there like that. That would work. This is gorgeous. Yes, I have to have it. And perhaps do we want to go or is the question? That's pretty nice, very dramatic. Or we could go lighter with one of these beautiful backgrounds, that would work too. Even the gold would be fabulous. Okay. I'm going to narrow it down. Make some decisions, cut some of the papers and stick on the background. The background pages are on. They look fabulous. I'm loving the colors. Now, I did pull out a couple of these pages from the craft pack, and I'm really loving the Gustav inspired designs because that's my era. That's my timeless tale. But I don't want to stick the whole thing on because it's going to comer up my stunning jelly prints. I think I'm going to cut sections with my knife. And put it over the top. Somehow, not sure but I'm going with that idea. Pi on this side, and then this side. I'm either going to add some of these squares which I really like, or maybe the kiss by Gustav. But I'm really taken with these squares. They look really cool. I just have to decide which ones I like the most. I'm thinking maybe maybe three of them, perhaps like that on there. That could add a little bit of fun to that side. That's what we're doing next. 11. Finishing Project 34: Now, it did take me quite a while to decide how I wanted to place these pieces because they could have gone a few different ways. I also changed my mind on this piece. I originally was going to have this one, but the squares are two square now compared to the beautiful flowing of those shapes. I decided to go with this piece instead. I think that's going to work better. Okay. I'm happier with it because it's got more of the rounded shapes in it. So we're just got to glue it all down and then decide if I want to add anything else, put any more highlights on, or think about what I might want to put onto the page once these pieces are down. Okay. All the papers are down. I ended up adding a beautiful little clock face onto this section because it is timeless tails. I wanted to put a time piece in it somewhere and I felt that the black was a great way to bring that color from behind there over to this side of the page. It's contrasting beautiful with the copper of my background, and I'm really happy with that. Now this side is looking beautiful, it is mostly dry. Then I was thinking, well, if we really wanted to add an impact with gold, I'm thinking we need to add some gold boil. Yes, I just have to. I've got this mirror effect from Pavio Now, I actually haven't used this before, but I've seen it used and it doesn't look that hard. I'm pretty sure we're going to be able to work this out. Look how fabulous this is. You can't really get any more gold than that. That is just magnificent. That's what we're going to put on, and I'm going to fix it with this the Mixon relief PBO adhesive. What I like about it is the nice fine nozzle. I'm thinking that I'd really like to add some of this beautiful gold leaf to these patterns on this piece of paper, and that would be a whole lot of fun. Now, the fixative is white and when it dries, it goes completely clear. You have to wait for it to dry and then put the gold leaf on top. I know it's always about waiting for things to dry. That's probably going to be the hardest part, but I'm pretty excited. The gold leaf looks amazing. I'm just going to add some to here, highlighting my fabulous Clint inspired pages. Then they're going to really shine with some fabulous glamour. It's really fun. It's actually quite therapeutic. So I'll keep adding someone here. Let it dry and then I can't wait to add the gold. I've got lots of swirly circles. Now I just have to wait for them to dry and then we'll put the beautiful gold leaf on it. Yeah. Right. Now my fabulous gilding paste is completely dry because you can't see a thing, and it does feel sticky. It's completely transparent. The fun begins. We put one of these beautiful gold sheets on top of the area where I have the gilding paste and give it a bit of a rub. Look, now you can see it. You can see where my fabulous circles are. It's pretty fun. It's pretty easy. That's for sure. Really not hard at all. Then after you've given it a good rub rub it over, pull it off. Tu man. Look how fabulous that looks. I love it. A lot easier than actual gold leaf flakes. That's for sure. Love this stuff. This is fantastic. It's probably going to be my new favorite. That is so easy, lemon squeezy. Now, if we're talking about gold and opulence and art deco, we definitely can't go past the beautiful gold foil. Look at the page. Isn't that fabulous? Even that itself is a work of art. Absolutely, love it. It looks beautiful, so shiny and it so suits my theme. I absolutely love the look of this gold foil. You know, I might go a little crazy with this now. I think it's so beautiful and so shiny and so very gold. I'm really happy with my collage. I had a lot of fun creating all the jelly prints, enjoying my art deco, art nouveau, timeless tales. I think it's so beautiful. So much fun. Love the multiple layers, and I can't wait to see what you're going to do with this theme. Onto the last lesson for this class. How very exciting. Oh. 12. Mystical Realms: Day 35 Mystical realms. Use any or all of this week's prompts to create your page full of fantastical elements and wondrous delights. I absolutely love putting all the different elements from my favorite lessons into one collage, because then you get to pick and choose which fits you really liked and put it all together. What mighty adventures have you created? I can't wait to see what fabulous inventions and imaginations you've come up with with your collage. Which papers and textures did you put together? This collage is a real celebration of the pieces and the parts and the pictures and pages that you enjoyed about this week. Put them all together in one big surreal world. Whole fantasy in imagination. I think that's definitely what I'm going to do. I'm going to create my own reality and my own planet. Yes, that does sound like me. I can't wait to see what you're creating, so don't forget to show me your pick. I absolutely love to see the photos of your collages. Okay, I'm going to pull out all my favorite bits and pieces from the lessons of this class and see which ones I want to put together. I love about the last lesson of each class is being able to combine some of the techniques and papers and prints and textures that we've made throughout all the different lessons. I find that just so much fun and so enjoyable. I really love a couple of these beautiful flower prints that I talk with the little posy. I've got a couple of those left, so I might use some of those. I also have some of yesterday's jelly printing frenzy They are absolutely fabulous to loving the metallic. Oh, my gosh, love the metallic paints. This one is really quite fascinating, what's left of it? I used this in yesterday's collage, I really love the design. Yet when I first did it, I thought it was a total failure. I put the big fat black posca Mopa marker on the gel plate and it was so. Full of paint and fluid, that it was really quite smudgy when I printed it. I put it aside, didn't think much of it. But when it was dry, I then put this stencil over it with the white pearl stencil butter. It looks absolutely fabulous and I totally love it. You really don't know what can become of your print or what you can turn your prints. Into a something doesn't work exactly how you put it aside and go over it with another layer because there's so much else you can do. I'm thinking of using some of that again today because I like it so much. I also have some of the fabulous steam punk papers left. I loved doing the steam punk lesson, that was so fun. Then also some of the clip inspired craft paper as well. I have some of that. What I love is joining the techniques together. I decided I wanted to use that baby powder technique. I really liked it and I put it with the beautiful metallic colors, layers of the bronze and the copper. It was a whole lot of fun and the prints turned out rather beautiful I'm thinking. Then I gave them a little bit of pritza with the bronze shimmer and some of the gold mine because I wanted them to shine just a little bit more and look how glorious they look. Look at the fabulous textures on it. This is what I like about this technique. Is the incredible layers and textures on the print from where the baby powder is sitting on the plate. So much fun. So I'm thinking I might use some of those. As well, of course, I've got to fit it all on my little journal page, not sure how that's going to go, but it's going to look beautiful. I may even put some of that beautiful gold foil onto the page because I really enjoyed that yesterday. Loving this print with the flowers and the leaves, and I'm thinking that I'd really like to add one of the steam punk es just to make it a little bit more beyond reality. Because that's being our theme for this whole class and that's just been so much fun. We definitely have to have some of this fabulous gold texture. It looks like an old wall in Venice and maybe maybe some of these steam punk clock pieces. You know, I I put some of these on, I'm going to go and get some of those cogs again. Oh, man, such decisions, where are we going to start? I think I'll start with this piece and see where I go from there. Tough decisions had to be made, but I'm pretty happy with how this is developing. I absolutely love these elements from the previous lessons. They make me so happy. I love the steam punk look and that beautiful print that I just had to add another piece on there because I loved it so much. That's looking got some of my fabulous baby powder texture in there, with this page, although I think I could probably finish it is one of my thousands of trinkets that I bought for the glass. I know I did get a little carried away. Something on this one would be really nice gold. Maybe baby or do we want silver? I like the silver. It really stands out also matches really well with the white pearl stencil butter there. Going to put a bit of PVA on that one. Then I'll finish that off nicely. Then on the other side, I think I'm going to add the little clin inspired. Darling just there. Then I'll have to think about. I need some touch ups on this piece here. Maybe I'll get out that gold foil because that looks beautiful or perhaps I might even cut another piece out of this like I did yesterday, that could work too. Something like that's going to work. Once I decide, I'll stick that on first. I'm really liking the look at these pages. It's just a whole lot of fun to me. I think I'm going to finish with some of the beautiful gold foil. Add some texture onto these leaf shapes here, maybe some on the other page as well, and we'll just see once I start putting it on how carried away I get, which which is quite possible. So I'm putting the fabulous adhesive on that has to dry completely go entirely clear and then I'll add the beautiful gold leaf to the page. I think that it should finish this page off nicely. Also, it's very clean inspired. The beautiful gold leaf to me is very much keeping in the theme of the gorgeous girl there. I think using this one with the really thin line of the applicator is going to work really beautiful on the dark muted gray color of the print. So we'll just have to wait until it's dry and then I'll put on the beautiful gold leaf. Yeah, I can't help myself. I have to add some over here as well. Highlight a few of these circle shapes. It's going to look just beautiful. Now that my pages are dry. You can't actually see where I put the adhesive, but it's all over there, and I did it around the circles as well. It's quite fascinating the way it goes completely transparent once it's dry. I'm pretty excited because now we get to the fun part. We get to put this beautiful foil on it. I know it's going to look amazing. Let's put it over this section first. Put it on the page. Give it a rub and as soon as you touch it, you start to see where you put the adhesive. I really like that thin nozzle applicator. I think that's really fun. You could do a lot with that, a lot of drawing or writing. You could put text on it, you can put all sorts of different shapes. It's entirely fascinating, really really easy to do the gold looks amazing. T Oh, yeah, baby, look at that. That looks beautiful. I love it. Now I'm just going to use up different sections of this same piece of foil on these areas where my adhesive is. Rn over it all, and then I'll give you a close up and show you how incredible it looks. I'm pretty happy with my pages. I'll use up some from yesterday's piece. There's still some sections on there that I can use up. Give it a good rap. Okay. Look how pretty that looks. If you catch it in the light, you can see how beautiful. The gold is on that page. Yes, I love it, and I'm really enjoying that fine line of the applicator, creating those marks in there, looks fabulous. I'm just going to put foil on the other side, give it a rub and my pages will be done. Cara, love it. Looking beautiful. It finishes off my pages really nicely. Yes, it does. Yeah. I hope you enjoyed this class. I know I did. It really stretched me doing the beyond reality imagined worlds. Some of these themes I definitely haven't approached before in my college, so we get to learn together along the journey. I think that's what I'm really loving about creating the classes, stretching myself, my creativity, and encouraging you to stretch yours. It's always good to do things that you haven't done before. Really happy with these lessons and these pages, and I can't wait to get stuck into the next class. A. 13. Let's Celebrate: Thank you for joining me on this epic adventure. I really hope you've enjoyed this class as much as I have. I've absolutely loved creating imagined worlds, and I can honestly say that I have never created with these prompts before. I absolutely loved the steam punk theme, and I was so inspired by the surrealist. I mean, have you ever put such an imagined artwork together like that before? I definitely haven't. It was so much fun. It was so stretching. But it was really satisfying to create something that I've never done before. I absolutely loved printing with the fresh flowers, but I think my all time favorite technique that we did in this class was the gold foil. Absolutely. So beautiful and so easy. That's definitely coming out again. We're going to keep that one in the material list for the next class. I would love to see what you've created and what imagined worlds you've invented. So don't forget to show me photos of your fabulous art journal pages. I'd love to see your collages, how you responded to the prompts, and how weird you allowed yourself to be. And remember, you can join my Facebook group created Adventures Making Art. Show me all your photos and beautiful artworks in there. There's so many people that would really enjoy seeing what you're creating. Don't forget to check your class notes, and the material list is quite extensive, but you don't have to use all of the products or the mediums or even the colors that I've chosen. Pull out what you have from your art supplies and use the absolutely favorite colors that you like to work with. But if you want to know exactly the products, have a look. It's all there in your notes, and don't forget if you're using any of the recommendations for papers or prints or stencils or stamps, you'll find discount codes. You've got my email if you want to contact me directly, and you can find out more information on my website, frol.com. Now, I hope you're keeping all of your prints and papers and textures, especially all those fabulous trinkets that you may have acquired. Okay. I know that I ended up buying quite a few. So I'm putting them all in a box for just for this particular class series, and they'll be there for the next one because you don't know what you might need in the next lesson or the one after that. There's so many possibilities, and now you've got the art supply, each of the lessons and classes compounds on with the next one. So Make sure you're keeping everything for another day. Next, we're on to class six exploring mixed media techniques in collage. Oh, yes. This one's going to get a little experimental, but it will be a whole lot of fun. You'll learn some new techniques, and I can't wait to get started. So I'll see you again in the next class, and don't forget to show me your photos.
