About This Class

Hi - I'm Tim

I'm an Adobe Certified Instructor and Adobe Certified Expert and designer working in and around London and welcome to my Adobe Express course where you can learn to create eye-catching graphic design content for print and social media / web including video and animation.

You can use the free or the paid-for version of Adobe Express for this course.

This is a step-by-step tutorial course which is the first in a set of 3, initially taking you from the very basics and moving up to a more advanced level in the next 2 courses.

This course is comprised of bite-size videos with techniques for creating stunning social media and other content and we will be using a wide range of tools to help you create professional and eye-catching documents.

We will be using pre-made templates (still and video) as well as creating work from scratch, Text Styles, Animation and Animation Presets, Generative AI Fills as well as Generative AI Text Styles with Adobe Firefly, Sound, Voiceovers, Effects, Color Adjustments and many more tools besides, to enable you to easily create and edit all kinds of documents.

We will be working through a number of professional projects which you could use in your personal portfolio if you. Adobe gives you access to thousands of their stock images as well as videos and numerous pre-made templates. Any other images provided come from royalty free sources.

All the projects rely on different techniques, so you're not just repeating the same thing each time, but you can practice what you have learned and combine these skills with new ones as you build the projects.

We will work with creating work from scratch, templates, video, simple animation, making social media posts and other web work such as a birthday card.

You will export your work as PDFs, JPG, PNG and MP4.

Whether you need this for part of your job role or want to make your social media content more exciting and easier (and more advanced) than other platforms, this course and the projects will help you build confidence and skills to be able to create your own stunning documents.

I would suggest you do the projects in order. However if you decide to do them out of order, you will still be able to follow along as I do explain every step of the process.

Enjoy and don't forget to share your work and please do leave a review - it really helps me create the right content for you!

1. Welcome to this Course!: Hi, my name is Tim Wilson. I'm a senior trainer at Red Rocket Studio. I would love to help you to create beautiful professional work in new Adobe Express. Not only if I trained for some of the world's leading companies including Disney, Nissan, BBC, NHS, The Times. But I've also spent many years as a lecturer in graphic design at the university. We'll start at the very beginning and I'll take you through everything step by step. You're not left on your own. I'll be there all the time to answer your questions. I've crafted this course as a series of projects by the end of it. so, not only will you be an Adobe Express master, but you also have nearly 20 separate projects that you will have created. These are some of the real world projects that we'll be working through in the three levels of this course. Social media documents, flyers, documents for print and screen flow, animated posts, video posts, multimedia documents, infographics, and so many more. I'll be showing you tons of pro tips and tricks as well as some basic graphic design principles to help you create really beautiful, professional work. Start right now, I can't wait to help you to learn new Adobe Express. 2. Introduction to Finding Your Way Around: Welcome to the first set of videos. What we're going to do here in this set is we're going to look at how you can actually get Adobe Express. Now you can get it either with your Creative Cloud account if you've got one, or you can also get it for free, which is great because almost all the features are the same in both. As we go along, you'll notice that it's just a few little bits and pieces, like some pictures and videos that they include that you don't get in the free version. Otherwise it works exactly the same. We'll also look at the interface now and I'll show you around so that you can see which bits are where and why it looks like it does. I'll also mention any little problems that you might have. So for example, if your bit of work that you're working on just suddenly disappears, how do you get it back? Let's get started. 3. How to Get New Edobe Express: Adobe Express is an online piece of software. To use it, you will need a browser window. I've gone along to Google Chrome. I've found that that seems to work best for me. I tried it with Firefox. It doesn't like Firefox at the moment. Adobe do say that they're doing something about that. I haven't tried it on the Windows version like Edge, but I do know that it does work in Safari. Although Chrome seems to be better. Anyway, I've done a quick search, Google Search for Adobe Express over here. I've got free design. I'm going to go to get Adobe Express free over here. If you have an Adobe account log in, first I'm logged into my Adobe account there. If you make sure that you're logged in that way, when you go into Express, you will get the full premium version. You can see it's come up as a premium member over here. Now, don't worry if you don't have an Adobe account and you're not a premium member, almost everything works exactly the same. There's just certain videos and pictures and some of the graphics that you won't be able to use, but there's still a really good amount that you can. 4. The Interface: When you get into Adobe Express, it usually looks something like this. What we have on the left are some little buttons, there's a Home button, Your Stuff, Explore, Schedule, and Learn. Because this is an online piece of software, Adobe do sometimes slightly change things around as well. So, this is what it looks like. but maybe in a two or three months time, they might add a little extra button in there. It doesn't matter. It'll still probably work exactly the same. Now in the home button, we have this look over here. These little buttons along here are just shortcut buttons to create for certain platforms. So for example, if I was doing something for social media, I can click on the social media button there. It then shows me all of the different sizes for social media. You can see at the top, it says Popular. These are the popular ones. Tiktok, Instagram, Facebook posts, Instagram reels. But I can go a little bit further into it. I could say, well, I just want to see the Instagram ones and these are the different Instagram sizes that we have. Or I could go along to Youtube and I could see the different Youtube options that we've got in there. There's even Pinterest. If you're into Pinterest, you can do nice and very quick posts in here. Now you don't have to use the sizes that they give you in here. You can use your own sizes and you can make your own custom sizes. And we'll be doing that throughout the course. Once again, that's in social media, but if I click on video, same again, I've got video options. I've got standard video sizes in there and social video in there. Same over here, we've got photos. You can have different photo options, we've got documents. and we'll be making a lot of these as we go along from documents. We'll be creating brochures. We'll be creating multi-page brochures. If I go along to marketing, we've got things like logos. We'll be doing a logo in here. Invitations cards, flyers, we'll do them all. There's quite a lot of AI things that you can do in here. There's a generative AI button in here too. So we can do the whole text to image thing by just describing what we want, clicking the Generate button to make the picture. 5. The Buttons: Let's look at this little bar down the side here. At the moment, we're in the home area. If I click on Your Stuff, it will take you to your stuff. So in here, I've got the files, things that I'm working on in there. I can go to brands and I can see any brand options. If I click on that, you can see these are my brands over here. And I'll show you how to set those up during the course. Once again, if I go to Libraries, it will show me any libraries which are the Adobe Libraries. And you can share things with Photoshop, Illustrator InDesign and you can use them in Express. We've then got an option here called Explore. and this is another way to create a document. You can just explore templates and have a look, see what you like. If you find something that you like, the look of, let's just find something here. I'll take that one over there. I can just click on it and then I can carry on working on it in here. Well, it'll just automatically save out and I can change that. Now, going back to explore for a moment, you'll see that some of these have got little crowns on the bottom right hand side there. That's because those are premium ones. When you're looking through, if you are a premium member, it really doesn't matter. It shows you everything. If you are a non premium member, ie, you don't have an Adobe paid for account, you can just go in and click on the other ones and they will work as well. You don't need all of these ones here. You can create everything yourself from scratch. We've got a Schedule option in here, so we can schedule different posts to go out in different days. There's a Learn option here with all little tips and tricks that you can go into. Now this little window here changes. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to go along, well, I'll go down to Explore and I'm just going to pick one of these templates. I'll just choose that one over there. You can see it takes me into the template. These options here have now changed. They still show Your Stuff in there. We've also got templates. We've got media. So Media are all the pictures and videos. We've got a text option if you want to add in your text into it. There's Elements in here as well. Grids and Add-ons We'll be looking at all of those areas in there. We've also got some more areas along the top which we'll refer to, so changing the sizes of the documents, looking at themes, background colors, and being able to translate something very quickly. Once again, it, one of the things we'll have later in the course is taking something and translating it to a different language. Along the top here, well, I can share these things I've created. I can download them to my machine, and we've got a few other little buttons in there that we'll look at, commenting and things. There's also a Go Back and Go Forward button. If you've made a mistake, you can just click on the back button to go backwards. But wherever you are, if you get lost, go back to this colorful icon at the top left hand corner. And that will take you back to the home area. If you think, oh my goodness, what did I do with that document that I created? We'll just go to View All and this will show you any documents that you're working on. 6. Where Has it Gone?: Now I've gone to open up a file. and I can see the layers in here, but I can't see the file. And I've tried all sorts of things. I've gone in here to the percentages I have zoomed in, I've zoomed out, well, I've zoomed to Fit All, nothing seems to be working. If I go back, I'll click back on there. And I'm going to go and try and find it again. I think it's that one there. Click it again, and you can see it just keeps disappearing. I know it's there because of these little icons on the right hand side. The other thing I can try doing is to close down this completely. So I'm going to just quit out of Chrome and then I'm going to restart Chrome again and then log myself back in. So let's just go back to Express over there. That's not the one that I wanted, but if I go back here, there we go. Let's try that one. There we are, and it's all working now. If you do have a problem like that, just close your browser down and restart again. The other thing to remember is don't have too many tabs open at the same time, because that can slow everything down and don't have too many other bits of software running as well. I try to just work with the Chrome browser in Express when I'm dealing with Express without too many other things happening together. 7. Introduction to Use a Social Media Template: For our first project, we're going to create an Instagram post. We're going to use one of the preset templates that they give you. But we're going to change it and we're going to make this really cool as you can see on the side cupcake Instagram post. We're going to have our own picture in there and change our own text as well. Let's get started. 8. Using a Template: We're going to be creating a social media post now. We're going to create a post for a cupcake workshop, and we're going to do it for Instagram. So we're going to go to the social media button up here. I'm going to go over to Instagram over there. And then I can choose what sort of Instagram post I want, whether it's a reel or a story, or a carousel. I'm just going to choose the Instagram Square post. Now I'm going to use an existing template as my starting point, so over here where it says Browse Templates. I'm going to click on that. Now we've got all sorts of different templates in here. Yours might look different to mine, but over here, the ones with the little crowns on them, those are only available if you are in the paid for version. But there's plenty of others, so don't worry about it. Anyway, I want to find something to do with chocolate cupcakes, so I'm just going to search for chocolate. And this is going to search through all the templates and find me lots of templates which are about chocolate. As you can see, oh, there are so many of them. I'm going to go with this one over here, the chocolate making workshop, although ours will be a cupcake workshop. And I'm going to click on that. And that then opens it up in this area over here. Now all of these little bits and pieces that are on this Instagram post can be changed and moved around. If I went over to this little shape here and clicked on that, I can just drag it around and I can rotate it as well. And if I don't want it, I can press the backspace or the delete key on the keyboard to get rid of it. Now if I've made a mistake, I realize actually I did want it. There's a little back button over there or an undo button you can click on to get it back. As you can see, sometimes the pictures are cut out like this one is, we've got the text in here and I can just edit the text. Now you'll notice is as I'm going through and clicking on the various parts, this little window here is automatically changing. So if I click on the image, it gives me options to change or work with the image. If I click on this little shape, it gives me icon options and I can actually change the color, for example, of that little icon. I don't want to change it, so I'm going to use the back button once again. 9. Find a Photo and Cut it Out: All these items that are on the page are all movable, They also stack on top of each other. For example, if I move this photo over there, you see it's actually underneath that little item. I think it's called an icon on there. But I can move them around by going to the layers. You can see that the picture is below the icon. If I drag it above the icon, you can see now my picture's above the icon. At the moment the chocolates are above the text, I can move them below the chocolate in there. And as you move these around, you just drag and drop them. You can actually see what's going on while you're doing that. Now as it happens, I don't want to have this chocolate in there. I want a cupcake. So I'm going to go and delete it. So I've selected, and I can either do that by clicking on the layer there, or by clicking the icon in the page. And I'm going to press delete or backspace to get rid of it. Now I need to go and find a cupcake. So I'm going to go over on the left hand side to the media and I'm on the photos area and I'm going to search for a photo of a cupcake. Let's find a cupcake. And there are tons of them which have come up. Some of them are, well, from the free version and some of from the paid version. But there's lots and lots of them in there. So I'm going to go and have a look and see if I can find a chocolate looking cupcake. Might be a while because this is a very thorough amount of cupcakes. There we go. We've got this one over here. This is not a paid for one. From the paid for version, it's a free one. I'm going to click on that and you see how it brings it in. Now I want to place it over there and make it a whole lot bigger. So I just grab the corner up here and I can just scale it up. Now if you grab these little bits, you can also scale the whole thing. But you might find that you end up cropping out some of your picture and you're going to have to pull out the sides as well. So I tend to work with that one over there. Obviously, you can see the problem that I've got here. And that's because this has got a white background on it. And the background that I've got here, is a sort of cream I suppose. If I click on the picture itself, I'm going to go to this button here. Look at this, this is so easy to do. You just say, Remove Background. It finds the background for you and gets rid of it. There we go, we've got that whole cupcake with a transparent background. Do try that out. Go in, find a picture, a suitable cupcake. And you do that by going to Media, search for it. Click on it to bring it in. You just click it like that. It brings it in, you can click it again, move it around, scale it, and while it's selected, you'll see that the image appears up here. And you can just say remove background to get rid of the background, add as many cupcakes in as you want. I'm just going to have one, but if you want multiples, by all means, add in a few like so. I'm going to just delete that one. There, have to go. 10. Change Background Color and Use Eye Dropper: If you don't like the background color, you can go up to the Background Color over here. Click on it. Just one click over there, and I can then choose colors. Now we'll look into these colors a little bit in more detail later. But if I want to sample a color, for example from my photo, I can go to this little icon up here. Click the icon, move the thing that comes up around to find the color that I want. And I want something a little bit more yellowy like that. So I'm going to click on that and you can see how it's darkened it down. Let me do that again. I'll change it. I'll make the background lighter again. Click on the little eye dropper. Move over the image, Find the color that you want, and it's right in the middle of the square, in the middle. Click on that to get the correct color. Otherwise, you can actually just choose colors from in here. I don't like the recommended color. I think that looks awful, that's a little bit too green. That's probably the starting color. Or you can click on Custom. We're in Swatches at the moment. If I go to Custom in there, I can choose any color I like. So I can just move this along the color spectrum over there, find the color that I want, and then change the lightness or darkness and the saturation in here. Now I'm actually going to go back to the swatches over there and just pick one of these lighter colors that are around here. I've chosen the one from the page, theme colors, but as you can see, you can just pick anything that you want. Try that out. Check out changing the background color in that. 11. Change the Text: I'd like to change the text. So I'm going to click on the text, and you can see that this now shows me the text options. I want to actually change the text itself because I want to say "Cupcake Creation" I'm going to double click on this little box here. By double clicking, you can see I can now actually select the text. I'm clicking and dragging over the text to select property. So I'm going to put in here, Cupcake Creation. I'll just do a return over there. Cupcake Creation, like so. If I want to make it bigger, I can go to the corner. I can just pull it out to change the size of the text. Or if you've got your text selected, you can go in here and you can actually adjust the size, in this case of the individual words. Now, I would like to change the font on here. I want something a little bit more, well, Cupcake, like if there's such a thing. So over here, we've got some recommended options that Adobe think might work quite well. I'm not so sure, but let's have a look anyway I'll just click on View All. and it shows me all of these options in here. And I can just click one of them to see, oh ... that's awful ... to see what it actually looks like over there. I want something which is friendly, homemade, that type of look. That's okay, but it's not very readable. If you can't see what you want from recommended here, click the arrow next to it, and that takes you back to this text area. Whenever you look at something you think, oh my goodness, how do I get back? There's usually a little arrow at the top to take you back. So in that case, I can try going down here and just choosing from the various fonts in my version. So I'm going to go over here and have a look and see if there's anything which looks like it actually might work quite well for cupcakes. That's a possible one, but it's still not quite what I'm after. The problem here is you can lose yourself for hours at a time just going through every possible font and finding something which you feel works really well. 12. Align & Export: Now as you can see, I have changed the font again on mine. Something a bit more pleasing for me. What I'm going to do is I'm going to take this bit of text, I'm going to make it, well, quite large, so it, sort of goes almost all the way across like that. I'm going to move these along. This is what I want to show you as I'm moving them. Have a look at those little pink lines. They show me when things are lined up. So I can see that Summertime is lined up with cup creation. And I'll do the same with this. I'll move it along and I can see now that the gaps are similar between them. And I can move to the left until they all line up together. It's a very fast way of just aligning all your bits and pieces. Now this little shape here, this funny shape, I'm going to take that underneath cup creation, and then I'm going to go along and just move my picture around as well. So what I'm thinking here is it be quite interesting instead of the O from creation to actually be text, it sort of shows up as that little, I don't know, strawberry raspberry maybe, whatever it is. I'm not very good at those sort of things. Anyway, so what I'm going to do is I'm going to actually change the color of my text to match that, so it'll all, hopefully look good together. I'm going to go along, I've clicked on my text. I'm going to go down to my fill color for the text. I'm going to choose the eyedropper tool, move over there and find the color that I want. So I'm looking for that sort of pinkish color. And there we go. That I think looks quite good. Now I want to move this little cupcake along. So I'm actually moving it in very fine increments just using the arrows on my keyboard. I think something along that line over there. I'm happy with these bits, but they just don't quite work. I'm going to scale them up a bit, like so. I like the shape, it's just doesn't seem to work quite so well. The same with this. I'm going to scale it up a bit like that. And then I'm going to go in to the icon options down here. And one of the options I've got is an apacity. I can just reduce the opacity to make them less obvious. That looks a whole lot better. Now, if I were to go, oh my goodness, it's time for a cup of tea or coffee. And I need to close down my machine. I can just click back on here. The whole thing is automatically saved anyway. And to find it again, it's down the bottom. I'm going to say View All. That's the old one or an old one. I'm going to click back on that over there. And there we go. I can continue editing So the final thing once you've got all your text right and you're happy with everything, is to actually now go and save this out. I'm going to do that by going to Download over here. Click on Download, and then I need to choose the best file format for this, because this is going to go to Instagram. I could choose either PNG or I could choose a JPG in here. I'm just going to use the PNG file format in there. We'll use JPGs for some things later on I'm going to click on Download and it's just saved it out now to my machine. So all I've got to do is find it. Let me go along to my downloads and have a look. Because it's usually in my downloads. There it is. All done. Have a go! 13. Introduction to Create a Facebook Video Post: This project is all about creating a Facebook video post. So we're going to create a post which is going to incorporate text. We're going to have some graphics in there and also a video. We're going to export it then as a video ready for you to upload. 14. Make a Document and Add & Edit Video: We're going to create another social media post this time, it's going to be for Facebook. And I'm going to use this Facebook post over here, 1080, 5,080 And I'm going to create it from scratch this time. So we're not going to start off with a template that gives me my square document. Now the first thing is I want to change the color on this. What I'm doing is a video post. I'm going to add a piece of video. Obviously, my theme here is going to be industry or welding. Because such lovely videos of welding with the sparks flying all over the shirt. I'm going to go to the background color over here and I'm going to just make a very dark gray. I'll do that by going to custom in here to get my grays. I can just drag down until I get the darkness that I want. I don't want it to be totally black, I just want to be a nice dark gray like that. You can change that if you prefer. Now, I'm going to bring the video in. I'm going to go over to the Media, that's this little button over here. I'm going to click on Videos. And then I'm going to and I'm going to search for welding. I'll press Enter, and there's a lot of welding videos that have popped up. And I'm just going to look for some of these free ones over here. As you hover over them, you can see that it shows you what's going on in the video. Let's try that one over there. 20 seconds. I like it, but I like the color of this one instead. Let's have a look at this. That's rather nice. I'm going to go with that one now. All I need to do is to click it and it will bring it in to my page. Now, I don't want this to be full size like that. I'm going to make it a bit smaller. I'm just going to move it up to that side over there. Now, in order to play this, we've suddenly got a timeline down here. Now if you can't see this timeline, just go along to Edit Timeline over there. And it opens it right up. And we can click the play button here and it will just play through that video. Now what I want to do here is I want to shorten the video. This has got to be short, sharp, and punchy. I just want about 5 seconds in there rather than the 7.6 seconds. I'll just play it again. You can see at the beginning, there's a bit of a pause before the welding arc comes on. What I'm going to do is move this little playback head. It's this little black area here. And this allows me to scrub my way through the timeline. And I'm going to scrub it just before that arc comes up to about there. Then if I move over the video time line where we've got these double lines, I'm going to pull that across to my starting point. Now that will be the starting point. You'll see if I play the video, it starts almost straight away. And I'll do the same with the other side. I think I'm going to go to about there. Same again. I can just pull that back and you can see now that I've got 5 seconds in there. As I drag this, you can see the seconds changing. So I want to be exactly 5 seconds. Let's play that. Click the Play button and the video plays like so. Have a go, make a new document. It's going to be square, put a dark background onto it. And if you want to change the background at any time you go to the background over there, click the background and you can then go and change the colors. Or you can sample a color directly off of the video as well. So I just sampled a video color from that. I actually prefer it to be dark gray, so I'm going to click back on my background there. I'm going to go to my custom colors and I'm going to choose a dark gray like that. Have a go with that. 15. Add Shapes and Copy: Let's add some shapes in here as well. This time I'm going to go along, not my media, but I'm going to go down to elements. As you can see, there's all weird and wonderful elements in here that we can add. We'll add something in shortly, but I'm going to go across to not backgrounds, but shapes. That's a third one along the circles, there's rectangles, stars, flowers. When you have some time, just have a look through that. I'm going to take one of these little shapes, the rectangle. I'm going to take the standard rectangle, click it, and you can see how it's placed it in my document. So what I want to do is to zoom into my document. And I'm going to do that by using the shortcut that throughout Adobe, which is if you're on a Mac it is command and plus to zoom in command and minus to zoom out. If you're on a PC, it's control and plus to zoom control and minus to zoom out. Now just be careful with that because make sure you do it on the main keyboard, not on the number pad. Now I'm going to take this little shape over here, I think. I'm going to pull it out a bit. And I'm going to get it to match the video because I think that will look quite interesting over there. I don't want to put on top of the video, it's just going to go underneath there. I can even make my video a bit shorter if I want to and just crop out some of that extra area that I don't want. Pull that up and maybe pull that up to there. I'm going to change the color now on that. So I'm going to go across to my fill and I'm going to choose a different color. Now I'm going to take a color from the picture itself. So I'm going to use my Eyedropper tool to sample color. And I'm going to go in and have a look and see what this looks like if I use this blue like. So I think that's okay. But I think we can do better. Let me go back in here again, back to my fill color, because there's a nice little bit of red. So I've got a nice red in here. I'm going to just click on that and have a look and see what that's like. Wow, that's quite bright. Let's tone it down a little bit. So I'm going to go to my fill over to my custom colors. And here I can just drag that red back over to the left and down a bit to tone it down a bit. Or of course, I could use my sampling tool to sample the red that's on the picture already. Now, I'd also like to have one of these at the top above the video. You can copy things in a few ways. The one way is you can use control or command and C to copy control or command. Now remember if you're on a PC, it is control C if you're on a Mac at command C. And then you can use control or command V to paste and it will paste another version of that. You can see I've now got two layers right on top of that one. The other way to do it, and this is the way that I prefer, is the way that it's done in most Adobe software. Hold down. It's either the old on a PC or the option on a Mac key. When you do that, you can click and drag the shape and automatically make a copy. Now those are looking great. It's just a bit too high up. So I'm going to click and drag over all three of those items. You don't have to encompass them just as long as you're touching all three. I can then move them down a little bit, maybe like that. If we go with some shapes in there, put in some colors. Take the colors off of your video if you wish. And try moving it around as well. And don't forget, hold down the Alt, the option key while you're dragging an object to make a copy, and it works with anything, I'm going to hold down the Alt to the option key, click and drag my video, and I can make a second video over there. And maybe I could even make this one smaller if I wished I don't want that. But I'm going to delete it. Try it out, see how you get on. 16. Add Lines and a Map Graphic: Let's change these graphics around just a little bit. I'm going to take my video and I'm going to pull it out a little bit. Like, so I think that looks a little bit more interesting. But there, let's try playing that. Yeah, I like that much, much better. I'll move my playback head back to the beginning again, although you don't need to, you can leave it wherever you want in there. What I like now is some lines going through this. I'm going to go along once again to the elements. I'm going to go over to my shapes. Now in shapes you've got circles, rectangles, as well as numerous other shapes. But I'm looking for lines and arrows. I've just scrolled down to find lines and arrows. I'm going to click your view all so I can see all of them in here. And I'm going to go to this little one over there. Now as you can see it by clicking, it just puts in this tiny little line in the middle. And I can then move that around to wherever I want it. I can also go to the color and change the color, and I'm going to make that red in there. In fact, I'm going to click on this one. I'm going to hold down the shift key and click on that once I can select them both at the same time. And I'm going to actually go back to that brighter, red. I think it looks a little bit better. I'm now going to take this. I want this to go down that side there. There's a little rotate icon that we have over here on All Shapes you can see if I click on that, there's a rotate icon. I'll click on this one, There's a rotate icon, and I can then just rotate that, and I'm going to rotate 90 degrees. As you're rotating, you can see the degrees coming up. I'm going to move that into the right position. I want that to go up about there. And I'm going to pull it down from the bottom to just change the size. We can also go in here to change the thickness of that line if you want. You've got dotted lines or long dots, I don't know. I'm sure there's another word for that. Dashed lines. That's the one. I'm going to keep that as a long line like that and I'm going to make it fairly delicate as well. Now I want another one that's going to go down over here. So I'm going to hold down the alter the option key, drag that to make a copy. And let's rotate that round again as well to 180. Let's move that back to there. I'll just put this one maybe in the middle over there and drag that out. I'm going to have some text that's going to go in there. Now, this particular company, I'm going to call this company Sparks because there's lots of sparks coming from. It has got branches all over the world. I want a little map of the world over there. Once again, I'm going to go back, so I'm clicking on the back button up here. I'm going to go down to the design assets and I'm going to see what worlds there are in here. I'm going to choose a world map in there. I'll press the Enter key or the Return key. And you can see there's quite a lot of them over here. Now I'm going to go down and find one I think like that over there, which is quite delicate or you can only just about see it in there, but that's absolutely perfect. I'll just place that in the background there. Now, I'd like it to be behind that red line in the layers. I can just drag it below the red line like so. Have a go with a few things there. Try making your video a little bit bigger if you wish, Move around any shapes, go and generate a new shape like that. And this one, remember I did by going along into the. Let's go down to elements once again, I went to shapes and it, oh, let's get rid of world map there. I found it in here under the lines and arrows I just viewed all and went down until I found it over there. There's some other really interesting shapes in here too. And then the world map I found by going to the design assets. And I put in world map in there. I just chose the one and clicked on it and resized it. Have a bit of a go with that. 17. Add Dynamic Text: Now let's go along and change some of these bits. I'm going to take this shape here and I want to make it bigger, so it comes up to there. But one of the things you'll sometimes see is that when you go to change a shape, you don't get all the little corners in there. With this one, I can take this corner and start to drag it up, and it will scale the whole thing out, and then I can grab those corners and pull it in. What I'm trying to do here is to make it the same height as that line. And you can see as I drag down, the little helpful guide comes in to show me that I'm on the same or the correct line. Now I want some type over here with the name of the company. As I said, I'm going to call it Sparks. I'm going to go along to my text tool. I'm going to add text. I click on the ad text button and I'm going to call it Sparks with the ad. I'm going to select the text. I double click in there to select it. And we can now either go and choose our own font in here, or let's have a look at what the recommended fonts are. I'll just say View All. I'm just going to go with something like that. Quite a large typeface. Now I've got the type face in there. I'll go back down here. I can adjust the size in there. I could make it even more bold if I wanted to. But I'm just going to go with what I had there, which was a black version. I'm going to go down over here and change the fill and make sure that the fill is set to white. I can see it against the red. I'm not having any outline on there. I'm going to keep the capacity as it is. And we'll have a look at some of these little options later on in the course in more detail. I want to move it now, so I'm going to click off of it and then take my sparks and put it on the side over there. I also want some text over here. The main tag line, for example, for this company, Sparks, it's going to be something like a new world welding or something along that line. I'm going to add my text again, this is going to be a new world welding. I want to make that a little bit smaller, so I'm going to pull that in a little bit. Now as you can see by doing that, well, it looks okay, but I want to be a little bit more exciting down under the text. At the moment the text layout is set to default, I'm going to choose dynamic. What it does is it changes all the characters so they fit into that box. New world welding. And I can then just pull this down to get my little box fitting in over there. I'm lining it up to that little line like now. Lastly, when it comes to the design, I want to give this more of a technical aspect. I'd like a grid in the background. I'm going to go along to the elements. Again, in my design elements, I'm just going to look down here at overlays. And there's a nice little grid there that I'm going to use. This one is from the paid for version. If you view all, you'd be able to find all other shapes that might work. Instead, Some of these half tones are really interesting on backgrounds as well. But I'm just going to go back to the overlays and I'll use the one that was there now. I'm going to make that bigger, so I'll pull it out so I can get it to fit into that shape. I think that works. Okay. And then I want it behind everything, so I'm going to take it, I'm going to drag it behind all the other layers right there underneath the video so it sits on the background. It's still a little bit too obvious down over here on the left hand side under image. I'm going to go and reduce the capacity so we can barely see it, but it gives it that nice technical feel. I think we're just about done with that. Have a bit of a go with that. Try out some bits of text, have a go with using the dynamic text in there. Maybe put in a background. It doesn't have to be a grid. You can use anything you like on your background. Move some of the bits and pieces around until you get a really nice feel. And keep your colors simple as well. If you add in too many colors, it, it'll end up looking messy, but try it out. 18. Download Video: Of course now we just need to save this out. I'm going to go to download up the top. I'm going to choose a far format over here, you'll see we've got still images in there. I'm using MP four, which says best for video, audio and animations. Then the video resolution. I'm going to use the original size, but you can change the size very quickly if you want to use HD or four K or something like that, but I'm using the original size. I'm just going to click download. Once this is done, I'll show it to you very quickly. That's it, that's all finished. So let's have a little look at that. And in my case, it always saves it into my downloads folder. There it is, there. I'll double click on it. And here's my sparks, and there's the video playing. And I can upload that to be set up for Facebook, but any social media platform that I like. 19. Schedule Video Post: Now although you can download to download MP fours or Jpegs or PNG files, you've still then got to go and upload them to the web. But if you use the Share button over here, what I'm going to do is I'm going to click Share. Then it's going to allow me to post this directly to a social media channel. You can see Instagram, Facebook, X, or Twitter, Pint. They're all in there. Or better still, I can actually schedule the post for when I wanted to come out out at a specific date and time. I'm going to say schedule post. It opens up a little window. First of all, I decide what channel I want to use. I'm just going to put it onto Instagram over there. It takes a moment. It just uploads it in here so I can preview it, then I can choose what type of Instagram post I want over here. We've got posts, wheels and stories. I can also add any caption. I'm just going to say welcome to our newest member that. Then down here we've got some more options for Instagram. And we can also add in hash tags in there as well. I won't do that for now. I'm then going to move down over here. There's a preview button. So I can click on Preview and see exactly how it's going to look. Now what's important about this is it shows you any problems that you might not have realized, things like overlays, especially if you've got little buttons on the side and along the bottom, like one gets in some of the social media packages. It's great to be able to see what it's doing. I'm going to close that down. Then down here I can go to schedule it and decide what date I want to schedule it on. I could choose published now to get it published directly, but I'm just going to schedule it for a certain date. If I click over there, I can choose the date. I'm just going to choose a random date here. I'm then going to say, okay, that's the 21st. That will do nicely. I'm going to save as a draft so it won't automatically post. And then I'll just add that draft in. If I had that off, I could add it in and schedule it. I'll just do it as a draft. And this will then open up another window, which should show me the calendar. Over here, you see if it says view and calendar. And I can now see my calendar. I can see all sorts of other things that I've got scheduled to go out in here now. This one was to go out on the 21st. There it is, over there. And you can see it says Draft, and it shows the little Instagram icon next to it. Now I can click on that and actually go in and make any changes that I want in here. Let's say for example, it's going to be a real over there. And once again, save the changes if you want to delete it. You can also go in here and get rid of it. Once again, I'll click on it down here, although there's no delete button, you can click more Options. And there's a duplicate post or delete post over there. And I'm going to get rid of it in there Now as you can see, the schedule button is also available directly. If you are in Express, you can just go down to schedule to go directly into schedule and see what you've got scheduled to go out. Try that out and schedule a few posts. You don't have to publish them if you make them as drafts. 20. Introduction Make a Flyer with Text in a Circle: For this project, we're going to make a flyer. As you can see, there's quite a few components to this. And I'm going to show you how to do some really cool stuff. We're going to cut out somebody and I'll show you how easy it is to cut people out and things out in Express. We're also going to take some text and we're going to put the text into a circle. And then we'll export the whole thing out so it's ready to be E mailed around to friends, customers, clients, whoever you want to send it to. 21. Make Photo Background and Cut Out Person: Let's make a flyer this time. Now what I'm going to do is I'm going to go along to the options here to marketing. I'm going to look for the flyer down here. Now we're not going to use anybody else's idea. We're going to create this from absolute scratch. I'm going to go and click from scratch. Here is my flyer size. Now if you're not sure about what size it is, you can actually go to the Resize button and see the size. And you can also resize things in there. We'll get to that at a later stage, but for now, I want to replace the background with a picture. Well, I suppose I'd better tell you what the flyer is. We're going to be doing a flyer for a yoga retreat. I want this really gentle sunrise in the background. I want somebody practicing yoga in the front. And I want some text in there and then some text going around the person as well. The first thing I'm going to do is go to media and I'm going to go and find an image. So I'm going to go and choose a sunrise. There's quite a lot of sunrises that come up in here and it really is just a matter of going through and finding one that you like now. I think this one actually looks quite good. I like that. I've just clicked on it. Just one click on there and it puts it into my flyer. What I'd like to do now is to get this to be the background. I'm going to click on the picture, so I get the image options here. One of those options is to set as the page background. If I click on that, the image then becomes the background. Now I really want to have symmetry in this. I want the person to be in the middle. I want the sun to be in the middle. What I need to do is to move it. If you just click and try and drag it, you'll see it's locked in position. But if you double click it, then you can go into the image and you can move it around. You can also scale it up if it's not quite the right size. So I'm going to scale mine. I'm going to take it down a little bit. Want the sun to be about there. I think the sun is going to be sitting down there to make sure the horizon is straight. I think it is. Like if I just click out now that's locked into position. The next thing that we're going to do is to bring in the person. Once again. I will go in here and I'm going to do yoga. I'm going to go and find a person on a fairly plain background in a very traditional yoga pose like that one there. I'll click on that. I'm going to click on the picture, just make her a little bit larger, I think something like that. Move her down to where I want. Then in here I'm going to say remove background and that'll just knock the background out for me. And you can see it's done a very good job. It's even gotten rid of the floor as well. So I think I'm going to place her right in the middle down there. I'm going to stop there so you can try that out. Have a bit of a go get a background in, get somebody in the middle there, and then we'll start to color it up. 22. Color Your Image with a Custon Duotone: I'd like to color up so she's less obvious. I'm going to click on her and I'm going to go to the image options down here. I'm going to keep going down until I get to things like effects, adjustments, and animation. If I click on the effects, you can see we've got a lot of basic pre made effects in here. So I can see, well, what does she look like in black and white, or if she was darker or tinted with a color or colorized? And over here you've got all of these duotones which are two tone images. And I can maybe find something in there. Now, I don't like any of those colors that I can see there. What I can do is I can click on this little custom button because I want to use two colors for her. All of these duotones, duo two, they're all made of two colors. For example, this one is green and blue. That one is a teal and a dark blue, yellow and a green. I'm going to click on Custom over there. I've got the two colors in here, one for the shadow and one for the highlights for the shadows. I'm going to go over to my eye dropper tool or the papette. I'm going to go and find a darkish color down there. And then for the highlights, I'm also going to go to the papette and find a lighter color in there, so you can see I can adjust the colors. Let's try that again with the shadows. I'll go in there. Let's see what happens if we choose more of a blue color. I don't really like that. I don't think it works quite so well. So I'm going to click in there again. Once again back to the papette and find a darker color from the image there. I quite like that. Now I'm going to come out of the effect. So you go to the top where it says Effects. Click on a little arrow to the left. And I can actually now change the capacity if I wanted it to be a little bit more threal, I suppose. Lightened up just a little bit like that. Have a bit of a go with that. Try those duo tones, or those tints, and try making your own, and also adjusting the opacity. 23. Text Options: Let's get some text in the top. I'm going to go along to my text tool on the left hand side and I'm going to say add your text. Now I've already got some text that I've copied, so you can find your own or you can type in your own text. And I'm just going to paste that text straight in there. You can see it's quite big and it just says, join us for three months of self reflection. Carmon Health, be the best version of you. I've made up a website to go with it. Firstly, if I've clicked in the text and selected the text, what been to do is to go to my options here and I'm going to change the font. I'm going to find something which suits the situation and I'm going to keep it really quite simple. I'll just pick a font in there, something like that. I'm going to change the size by taking the font size down over there. You can see how it's getting a bit smaller. If I then take these ends and pull them in, it'll jump onto the second line as well. This little line over here is going over two. Now I'd actually like to get this to a line to the left or the right for that matter. Whichever works for you, I'm going to go over here and I'm going to click on alignment. And you'll see I can align the text to the left or the right. Now, I'm quite happy with that. If I go to the corner and drag it, I can actually still change the size to make it a bit smaller. I'm going to grab the edge, not the text itself, but on the edge. And just move it into the right position over there. What I'm thinking here is with symmetry, I want that to be in exactly the halfway point. And you can see the little guide came up when I moved it. I'd also like my text to be white so I can see it against the sky. So I'm going to click on the fill color here, choose white. And let's just click off of that to see if it works. Yeah, that seems to be working okay. I might need to move it up just a little bit on that darker area. If it goes down too far, you're not going to be able to read it. Let me just pop it back in there. The next thing we need is our main title over here. I think I'm going to have something along the lines of food for the soul or feed your soul. I think food for the soul would be better. Once again, add text, type it in and I'll pull it out so it's on one line. Grab a corner, scale it down and I'm going to put that all war cross. It's going to go right across from one side to the other. I think that'll work. And same again down here to the fill. And pick some white for that. 24. Add Text in a Circle and Save PDF: Now as you can see, I've changed my text. I thought that food for the soul sounded more like a food retreat rather than a yoga retreat. I've changed it to listen to your soul. Now what I'd like to do is I'd like to have the same listen to your soul in a big circle going around her. I'm going to make a copy of this bit of text. I'll hold down the old key or the option key and drag it down. Then over here in the text layout, I'm going to go too along until I get to the circle text. And I click on the circle text and you can see how it's popped it into a circle for me, I can just move that circle around. Now, there's a few things that I can do here. One of them is I can grab the circle. I can change the size of it as well. We can just rescale it until we get to the size we want. If it doesn't quite work because listen starts over here and I'd like to start listening to your soul down there. I can just rotate it around. So I'm going to rotate it around until ten in the right place. In fact, I'm going to click in there after. So I'm going to put a space, so I'm just going to press the space bar. So there we go, Solars, right at the bottom. Now let's have a look at what other things that we could do with that. Because if I change the size, I can get my text to be bigger. You can see how it affects the, the size of the circle. But I could also go along here to the recommended fonts. Click on Viewall and have a look. And see if there's anything in here that looks like it might be quite interesting. Sometimes they do take a little while to appear. All you've got to do is click to see how they look. Haven't seen anything which looks amazing yet, but we never know. Once you've gone through these show more so you can see more as well. Let's just click on Show More and get a few more of them. I'm just looking for something quite delicate to go on there or sino you can't find what you're looking for in here. You can always go along that's interesting whether things are all around in a circle like that, but you can always go back again and you can just change the type face in here, so you can go to your drop down menu and just go and pick the type face that you want from the ones on your version. I'm just going to find something once again fairly delicate like. So I'm making sure that the text is right in the middle of the page as well. I can always scale it up a little bit so everything is nice. The symmetrical in my image, these little lines that pop up are really useful to just make sure everything works together very well. I'm pretty happy with that. What I'm going to do is I'm going to download it. I'm going up to download over here. I can then choose the best option for me. Now of course that could be a PN GRA J peg, but I'm going to choose a PDF file. I might be attaching this to an e mail to send to people. I'll choose PDF. Just click on download and the download will start and I will have a PDF very shortly. Now let's have a look at this. I'm going to click on there and preview it. And you can see there's my final flyer. 25. Text to Image: Now let's have a look in another way that we can put images into a document. Because for example, if I didn't like this picture, I didn't have that picture. I'm going to detach it from the background and I'm going to delete it. Then what I want to do is I want to find a different image. Now if I've gone to my photos and I've searched the photos and I couldn't find what I wanted. I can use text to image. If I click on text to image, it says, what format do you want? And I want this to be portrait. Then I'm going to go and agree to the generative AI apps on the little box that comes up. I'll agree again. There's our box ready to go. All I've got to do is describe what I want. I'm going to say I want a sunset over the sea with pastal orange clouds. Right? I'm going to go to the content and make sure that is set to photo rather than graphic. It's reasonably lifelike. And click Generate. Now we just have to wait a few moments. It will generate an image for us which doesn't actually exist. This is an AI image, you can see we've got variations in here now if I don't like them, I can click on load and it will then come up with some more variations on that. Or I could go back to the original text and just rephrase it in a completely different way. I happen to like that one over there. I'll click on that. Now I want to adjust it. I'm going to click off of it. Click on it again. You can see now we're in the image settings here. I'm going to set that as my background, it's behind everything else. Then I can do the usual things that I do with images. I can go down to my adjustments and I can adjust it. Maybe I could brighten it up. If I wanted it to be a whole lot lighter, I can go on my saturation. Let's see if we intensify the color. Oh my goodness, that looks awful. I think I'll leave the color saturation exactly where it is. But it's so simple to make anything in there. You can just do anything from your imagination. Be careful of doing people, they are a bit problematic, especially hands and animals can be a little bit problematic as well. But it's great for things like buildings, scenes like this. You can create things very, very quickly. Anyway, have a go and make something completely wild. 26. Introduction to LinkedIn Profile with Blend Mode: In this post, we're going to create a banner. Well, I'm saying linked in, but you can do it for absolutely anything in the banner. As you can see, we've got a background and we've also got somebody's head. Now I'm aware that in Linked in certainly as a lot of the other social media platforms are, you've actually got a separate area for a head shot of yourself. But although I'm doing a head shot in there, you could replace that. We have a picture of your dog or a product or absolutely anything. You can use the same technique to cut it out. So we're going to be doing some coloring. We're going to be doing some blurring as well in this one. It's a great, great project. 27. Make a Document Correct Size and Add Toned Background: What we're going to do is we're going to go to social media and find Linked in. Now if I go in here, I can't actually see it there. I can't see it along here. But if you click on other, you get some other areas. For example, there's snap chat in there. And here we've got linked in and there's linked in profile covers, posts and blog posts. We're going to be using the linked in profile cover. And I'm going to say create from scratch. There we go. It's the correct size. If I click on Size, here you can see that's the size for Linked in. Now what I'd like to do is to have a background picture for my linked in person. Now my linked in person is a director at a cosmetics company. What I'm going to do is I'm going to find some appropriate images. So I'll do cosmetics and find something for the background. Now, there's quite a lot of different pictures in here and it's just a matter of working your way through until you find something which looks quite good. Now, don't worry too much about the colors, because what we'll do is we will actually knock them all back so it doesn't look quite so bright. Anyway, I'll just take an image like that, click on it, and then in here I'm going to set that as the background picture. Now as I said, that is quite bright. I want to do a few other things to it. I want to go to the effects under Dua tone. I'm going to change it to these sort of two pink colors now. I'm happy with that. So that's where I'm going to stop. If you'd like to have a go with that, do a linked in profile size and then put a background picture in. Do it for yourself or for somebody that you know, possibly we'll have to find a picture of later on or you can make up your own picture but find something interesting to go in the background. 28. Add a Shape and Use a Blend: I want to put the person's name in here and a picture of them in here as well. I think they'll get lost with this background. I'm going to go along down to the elements on the left. I'm going to just find a shape. I'm going to use erect angle like this. I'm going to make it a bit bigger, but I think I'm going to rotate it as well to an interesting angle and just move it over. Now I'd like to change the color of that over here. I'm going to go to Fill, and I'm just going to pick a color. I'm going to choose a color from there, but I want to be slightly darker. I'm then going to click on Custom and maybe darken that down a little bit. You can tweak it as well in here if you don't quite like the color. I want a bit more brown, so I'll move that across. So now the other thing I'd like to do is to go down here and adjust it. I can adjust the opacity so I can see a little bit of the background coming through. Or I can go into the blend modes and I could say multiply, and that will also multiply it against that background. That's actually working quite nicely, so we can just about see some of the background coming through. Once again, try that out. Just get something, a little shape, you don't have to use square. You can use any shape you like. But then on the shape, fill it with a color. And then either change the opacity over there and the blend mode in here. You can try things like screen if you want it to be really light as well. That's quite nice effect, but I think my text will get lost. I'm going to go as multiply. 29. Add a Text and a Cut Out Photo: I'm going to put my person's name in over there. So I'm going to go along to text. I'm going to say add your text and I'll put in their name. I'm going to call this person Rose Field. Now the typeface that I want needs to reflect the feel of the company. I'm going to go and choose, well, something a little bit more delicate as you can see over here, it's recommended a few of these. I could try that one in there that's actually que nice. It might be appropriate for the person. But if I just keep going down here, there's lots of different ones that I could try out in there or you could pick your own. We've been through this before now. The next thing I want to do is to color it up. So I'm going to just select the text, go to my color fill color in there. And I'm going to just change it. I think I'm going to try using one of these yellows from in there and see how that works. That's quite delicate in there. I'd like a little line underneath this and then their position, which would be company director. What I'm going to do is I'm going to go across to Media again. No I'm not. I'm going to go to elements, then I'm going to go all the way down to my lines and arrows. View all of those and find a little line in there. Here's my line. I'm going to make it a bit smaller over there. It doesn't have to be huge for this. I just want a little line to give me a gap between those two. Of course, I want the same color as my line. So I can go in here and I can change the color of my line to match as well. Let me click on that. As you can see, we can just pick a color from there, but I'm going to sample that. If I can get my cursor to get to there. There we go. So I'm using the same color now for the bottom section over here. I want once again more text. I'll go to my text, add in my text, and I'm just going to say Director. I'm going to move that down into position. I would like it to be a lot smaller, so I'm going to select it, take down the size in here. I'm going to something a little bit more sensible in there, let's try something like that. I think something a less modern might be nicer. Same again, I'll just keep going through here until I find a typeface that works for me. There we go. We've got Cal that looks better. Of course. You can just move these around as you need until they look right. Then the last thing that we're going to do here is we're going to bring the person in. Now what we need to do is we need to find an image and bring it in, so we're not going to use one of the library pictures in here. I'm actually going to go along and I'm going to upload something from my device. Now I've got a picture over here on my device. In the downloads of this particular person, There they are over there. It's actually a stock picture, but there we go. You could use any picture that you liked. Of course, I want to get rid of the background, so I'm going to say remove background and place her in there. She's a bit on the large side. Let's just take her down a little bit and move her to the edge. Now we could leave her in color. It actually looks quite nice. The color of her top compliments this rose color. Or if you wished, you could go over to the effects in there and you can try various effects on that. I'm going to go down and try the tint. Oh, that just does not look so good. Remember, you can always go to your custom settings in here. I can go to my shadows, and I'm going to choose a dark color like that for the shadows, there we go. And the highlights, once again, I'm going to pick a lightish color for the highlights in there. Now try anything that you like with that, that looks very nice, but I actually prefer it when she's in full color. I'm going to click on that. Now the other thing that we can do down here is if we're not using effects, is we can go to adjustments. We haven't looked at this yet. I can adjust that image slightly so I can go to the brightness and maybe lighten it up or darken it down if I thought it would improve it. I can take the lighter parts and increase them. You can see how the contrast is actually going up as I'm pulling on that. Same with the shadows. I could lighten the shadows or darken them. There's no right or wrong here. Just play with it until you get the look that you want. Moving further down, we could either saturate the colors or desaturate the colors in there. Be careful with any sort of skin tone. When you start to desaturate, the person starts to look a little bit on the gray side and not very well. I'm going to warm her up a little bit, was the warmth, I think. And then moving down here, we've got things like sharpening, which can make a picture really pop. She's sharp enough and blow if we want to blow something, in fact, the blurring would probably have worked better on the background. I think that's just about done. Have a bit of a go with that and then we'll do one or two more little things and save this. 30. Blurs and Glows: I'd like to make a few changes to the background. So I'm going to click on the background. If I double click it, I can then open that up and start working on that picture even though it's the background image. I'm going to use command and minus if you're on a Mac or control and minus to zoom out a little bit here. I'm going to make that background picture a little bit bigger. I'm going to move it around and maybe get some of the other makeup that I want in there by just moving around. I think I'm after something, maybe a little bit more like that. I like these circles because it replicates and balances the circle of her head. Once I've got that into the right position, that's great. But what else could we do if I double click on that? I'm going to go down to the adjustments exactly as we did with her. But this time I'm going to go to the blow, as you can see, I could maybe blow that out to concentrate the attention on her. Once you've made a few other changes and adjustments to this, we want to save it out. So we're going to go to download. I'm going to choose P and G in here. As you can see, it says Best for Images. I'm going to click on Download. And this will download it and it automatically puts it into my downloads folder. If I go to my downloads folder, here it is over there, all done and ready to be uploaded. Now, I bet you thought we were finished with this, but I want to show you a little extra trick that I use. Sometimes you can see how harsh that edge is around her. So what I want to do is I want to put a bit of a glow around her head. And that'll blend her head into the background. It'll also make her stand out a little bit more. Let me show you how to do this. I'm going to take her, I'm going to select her head and I'm going to copy and paste. I'm just using control C or command C to copy and then control C or command V to paste. Now here it is. There's the top one there. Now I'm going to go along to effects and I'm going to put a duo tone on that, the duo tones on the top one. Let's go back again. I'm now going to go to adjustments down here. I'm going to blur this so you can see how I can blur it a little bit like that. Now you might be looking at, thinking, oh whoa Tim, you've lost the plot. No. All I'm going to do is I'm going to take this one and drag it underneath that one, and look at the lovely little blur that we've got behind there. If I just pull it out or pull that out, you can see what we've got under there. I like it just to adjust that. If I go to that background one, I'm going to go back to the adjustments down to my blur. And you can see how I can change the amount of blur from that. And it just brings her head forward ever so slightly. If we just take it off completely or show it, looks much better. Once again, do a download. Save that out as a PNG or J peg. 31. Introduction to 2-Page Invitation: This project is about making invitation, but we're going to actually do double pages. For this, we're going to have two pages. I'll show you how to make multiple pages in your document. We're going to do some more cutouts. We're going to cut out some flowers. We're going to put in some shapes as well As you can see on the side, the two pages look really good. 32. Create the Cover Page: Let's make an invitation. But in this example, we're going to use two pages rather than just the standard single. I'm going to go across to marketing. In marketing, one of the options is an invitation. I'm going to say create from scratch. That gives me my cover page there. It's just this one page here at the right size. If you want to different size or you want to check the size, just go to Re size and you can see the size in there minus five, 7 ". Now I'd like to change the background color. So I'm going to start off with a background color. This particular invitation, as you saw in the intro movie, is a very subtle. It's delicate, it's got flowers on it. So I want something which is maybe sort of a pale yellow color. I'm going to click the custom button over here, go across to maybe the oranges, and see if I can find something. There we go, that's what I want. Just a very, very pale, pale orange. Now, I want to bring in a flower on there. So you've done this before. So we're going to go to Media. I'm going to search, and I'm going to search for pink flowers. I'm going to find something with a light background or a white background. Once again, if you're on the paid for version, you'll have a few more pictures. If you're on the free version, you'll have a few less. But basically it's all the same thing. I'm going to use this picture over here. You can choose any image you like. Click on the picture, make it bigger. I think I'd like to rotate that round as well. So I'll click on the rotate option and move it around until it goes in the middle of my frame, like so. Then I'm going to remove the background from that image. Now the next thing I'd like to do is I'd like to have some text over the middle over here. Unfortunately, you'll see that if I go and put some text in, I'm just going to add some text in very quickly. We'll say invitation. I'm just going to select that text. Find some delicate text. I will look at the recommended ones first. We're going to recommend and see if there's anything in here that works. No, I want something flowery and more delicate. I'll go down to my fonts in here and just have a look through them and see what I can find. So I'm looking for the hand written type of text. I'll make that a bit bigger, but as you can see, let's move that to the middle. It's okay. But some of the text is being lost in there. What I'm going to do is I'm going to put a little shape underneath it. I'm going to go to my elements. In the elements, I'm going to go down, I'm going to find backgrounds shapes, click on the shape and make that shape bigger. So that's going to go all the way across, but to make it more interesting because it looks awful at the moment, I'm going to click on Phil, Go to my Eyedropper tool and choose the background color. If I move that below the word invitation, we get this really nice look where we've got the photo on both sides, above and below the text. I might need to change that text a little bit. It's harsh, being black. I think what I'm going to do is I'm going to go along to my color down here, and I'm going to sample a color and try some of that green over there. Let's have a look and see if we can get a nice darkish green for it. I think that looks a little bit better. I might even go back and change the type face and see if there's anything else. Once again, that would work. I always say look at the recommended ones view all and see if there's anything in there that takes you fancy. Something like that. It's a bit too harsh and a little bit too over the top. Anyway, you can find something interesting for yours. Have a go with that. And then we're going to make the second page to our invitation. While you're doing that, I'm actually going to go and find a different type face because I'm not happy with that one. 33. Duplicate Cover and Change It: As you can see, I found a interesting type face over here which has a nice spring feeling. And I decided to change rather than it being invite. I'm going to change this to spring because this is going to be a spring event. But the other thing I'd like to do, because I find this box that I've got here is a little bit too harsh. I'm going to go to the capacity and just reduce the capacity so that we can almost see a little bit of the plant coming through or the flowers coming through underneath. Now, let me go onto page number two. To do that, I'm going to add a second page in there and you click on the add button. I'm duplicate the page. I've got two versions of it. This is my second page. And I'm just going to move some of these things around a little bit over there. I don't actually want that box. I'll get rid of it. This one I think I might rotate it round over there and maybe put it down the bottom. Then I want to hold down the Olt or the option key and make a copy of that. And I can have another one along the top like that just frames the text that I'm putting in. Then I've got this text all ready to go. I don't have to go and find that font again. I'm just going to select that text. You'll notice I just click a few times to select it, and this is going to be the garden party. Now that I've got that, I do need to change the size. I'm going to select the whole thing and change my size over here. If you wish to have things like I've got on two lines, you can go down just below the size to this little button. And this is for text spacing. I can change the line spacing and move that further apart or closer together. I think I will go with something like that. And I'm going to change the from party to lower case in there. And once again, have a little bit of a look at this. Let's take those two, move them up closer together and see if it'll look a bit more interesting. Like, so that can be moved around. I'm just going to place it somewhere in the middle. Have a go with that. And then we'll get the rest of the text going on in here. You don't have to use Garden Party if you want to change it to something else. If you want it to be on a single line like so no problem at all. Whatever you wish. 34. View Both Pages and Download as PDF: I put in a little bit more text in here and I've sampled the color from the flowers. I just went into my text color over there, use the Eye dropper tool and sampled the color from the flowers there. I've got some text which is like this color and some from the flowers. I've used a slightly different type face in there as well. Now I would also like just a small, thin, very delicate line between the date and where it is. I'm going to go across to my elements. Again, what I'm looking for are the lines. So I'm going to scroll down over here to lines and arrows, View all. And then I can go and find the straight line, well it just pops in actually in the right place. But I'm going to select that. I'm going to change the thickness to make it a little bit more delicate. Let's go with say three in there. Then I need to change the color. I'm going to sample that, and I'm going to just pick a green from the picture. So how do I get back to the front page? Well, if I go over here, there's a little arrow, and if I click on that, that will show me the other page as well. So you can actually flick between these two very, very quickly. And it's quite nice because that way you can actually see, well, is this working? This one looks a little bit more delicate then that one over there is my balance, okay? Maybe I need to move this around. Maybe I need to change something as well. You can also, if you want to see them both at the same time, click this little button up here. This says, View all Pages, And when you view all pages, you can see them together. Once again, just to make sure that it works for you, let's download this document now. We want to download it so that we can either e mail it around or we can send it to a local printer to print up 20 or 25 copies for us. I'm going to go up here to download, Click download. What I want to do is to make sure that I'm working with all pages. So it's going to PDF both pages. And we're going to, in the file formats use PDF in there now. We don't want them as individual pages unless the printer specifically asks them for that. I'm just going to clad over there now. It takes a moment or two to download. And then what this does, like everything else, is it puts it into your Downloads folder. Let's have a look at the Downloads folder. Here it is. Here is my document. The first page is there. And if I just scroll up, there's the second page as well. Try it out. Have a go with that. Do something similar to the one that I've done, but then try your own, use a totally different subject and see if you can make something which looks really good when it all works together with the different pages and the text works with the colors as well. Have fun with it. 35. Resize for Instagram: Let's change the size of this document. I've gone over to resize the little button at the top, and I'm going to change it to an Instagram square post over there. I'll click on Re Size. Now, it looks a bit weird. I'm going to double click because there is a bit of a crop in there. And I'm going to pull that crop out so I can see the whole of this picture. I might have to move down to the bottom and pull that out as well. Once I'm happy with that, I can click out of it. I'd like this to go across the whole thing as well. So I'm just going to pull that out. Let's move that down a little bit like that. Even the background picture, we can adjust it until we're happy with that. There we go. That's pretty perfect. I've just noticed I've clipped a bit there, so I'm going to double click and pull that up to make sure I can see the whole thing. Then I'm going to go to this page and do the same on the second page. I'm going to change that to an Instagram square post. Click on Re Size. Well, that's not bad at all, but once again, you might need to double click and pull it out to get a few more bits of the picture coming through. Let's double click this one. Same again on that, we just pull that out a bit like so might need to come out a little bit over there. My text might have to move just a little bit. We could actually rejig that a bit and maybe put the garden party over there. Some details down here, so it's a little bit different. I would personally make the text a bit bigger if this was going to go to Instagram because otherwise those things are very difficult to read on a small phone. 36. Schedule Your Post: I've closed that document down now I want to schedule it. I'm in this main home area. I'm going to click the Schedule button over there and choose the date. I want to schedule it. I want that to go out on the 27th. Click on the Plus over here, I can choose my channel again. I'm going to choose Instagram over there. This is going to be a standard post. I can add my caption. Then on the right hand side, I'll go and browse for that particular document. I've just got to click it. Wait for a few moments for the pages to appear. Sometimes this takes longer than one would like. There they are, they're both ticked. So I can click Upload in there. It will just take a moment for the preview to appear. Once again, I can put in the options, I can go down, I can schedule schedule for a specific date. And I just click on Schedule in there. That's done, it's all sorted, waiting to go. 37. Introduction Card with Photo in Circle: For this birthday card project, we're going to do a number of things. We're going to have a look at premate backgrounds, putting them in, using them from the stock library. We're going to get text in a circle, but we're going to make it look a little bit slightly different to last time. We're also going to color up a photo so it blends in with the colors that we've got. We'll cut out, take another image from the stock library to put in things like bows and bits and pieces around the outside. 38. Add Background and Circle: Let's make a birthday card. What we're going to do with this one is we're going to put somebody's head into a shape. I'll use a circle probably. I'm going to go along to my marketing. I don't know why birthday cards would be in marketing. I'd thought they'd been documents, but there we go over to the cards over here. I'm just going to say from scratch. Now what I need to do is I need to find a background. I'm going to go down to the elements and you've got design assets there. Backgrounds and shapes. I'm going to go to backgrounds and find something that looks interesting. Really now, I don't have to finish on this one. I could say, well, you know I like this. But at a later stage, I can just change it very quickly. And you can see it automatically comes in as my background. When I click on these backgrounds there, if you need to move them around, you can actually go in and if you double click it, it will allow you to take it and just move it around like so I'm just going to leave it. So we've got both of those people in the background. Now the next thing I want to do is I want to bring in my person into a circle and I'm going to have a color circle behind them. Let's start with a color circle. I'm going to, once again in elements, go to shapes. I'm going to go and find a circle. If you go up and down through here, you'll find that all types of different shapes in here. What I'm really looking for are the geometric shapes in there. No, I won't find a circle in geometric shape. I should look in the circles, shouldn't I? Let's try that again. I'll go to the circles. Find my circle in there. I'm just going to change the size and move it up a little bit. I'm going to place that in the middle. Now when you're doing design, what you'll find is that sometimes if you've got a shape which is very close to an edge like that, it causes the eye to go there. Do watch out. Give yourself a little bit of room when you're putting something in. As you're moving these things around, you can see I can make sure that way and that way with these smart guides that pop up, I'm going to give that some color. So I'm going to go to my fill. I will use the eye dropper tool and just sample a color from the background. Not sure if that would work. Let's try that color in there. Have a go get up to there, do a background and a circle. And those are coming from the elements, background and shapes. 39. Crop a Photo to a Circle: Let's add the photo in here. So if I go to the media, I've got the existing photos. But what I want to do is I want to get the person's picture from my machine. Now obviously you can pick anybody that you like. So what I'm going to say is I'm going to upload from device. That way I can go to my own desktop here and find the person that I want to use for this card. Now I'm going to make her a little bit bigger. So I'm just going to scale it up a little bit, pull that up a bit, we can change her later. I'm going to double click on her. Double click on the photo brings up these crop options in here. And you can see we get all sorts of different shapes in there. So I could try it as a star. I'd like it actually to be a circle. I can then change the shape of that circle to anything I like. So I'm going to make it a little bit smaller and move her around into the circle. When I'm happy with that, I just click out of it and I can now move her and the circle around as well. At any stage, if I want to make a change, I can just double click on her and go in and change it. So I'm just going to make that circle a little bit smaller. Click on the outside and I can pull that around. This is now just a normal picture. You can see we've got the usual options in here. What I'm going to do is I'm going to go along to some of the effects and try them out. If I click on Effects, I could see if this would work any better with some really wild colors. Don't really like that one. I could try clicking on the custom colors. Obviously, this will depend on the type of card that you're creating. And I'm going to try with this one to do some shadows. The shadows, I'm going to use a color. I'm going to use a darkish color like that. The highlights, I'm going to try different colors. I'm going to sample a much lighter color like that. Let me get this really nice effect going on in there. I could try that with the oranges or the blues as well. Do have a bit of a go with that. Get a picture, pop it into a shape, doesn't have to be a circle. And then possibly try out some of the options like the effects and the duer tones, and make your own duer tone up. 40. Text Around the Photo: At any time you don't like the colors I find what happens to me is that I'll put in some colors. I think, wow, that looks fantastic. I'll then go away, have a cup of coffee, come back and look at it, And go, no, I don't really like that. That's what's happening over here. I'm looking at the colors here. And they don't really go with the background colors too well. I'm going to click on there. Go back to my effects, Back to custom. I can then try different color for the shadows. I'm going to go over here, I'm going to try them blue from the flower. I actually prefer this a lot more. It seems to work with the colors that I've got in there. Now. The next I want to do is I want some text going around that area there saying, happy birthday in the person's name. So I'm going to go into my text tool, add text, and I'll just type it in Now. I want that to go into circle. So I'm going to move down in my text over here. As you can see what we have here are just different effects that we can use. If you want to put your text into a circle, you need to make sure that you've clicked on the frame. You're not in the text itself. It's an easy mistake to make and your curse is in there and you're wondering why you can't actually see it. Just click off of it and then this text will actually appear. The text options will appear. I can then put that into a circle like so, and I'm just going to move it around. Then once again change the typeface to something that will work. This is a fun birthday one. I'm looking for a font type which will be quite interesting and maybe lighthearted as well. So something fun over there. I'm going to pull this in to make the whole thing a bit smaller, it'll go inside that. Then I'm going to change the color on that because it is a little bit on the harsh side with my text. I'm going to go down to my color for the text. And as always, I'm going to use the eye dropper tool and experiment with some different colors in there. There we go. It looks a lot more delicate. Now, one of the things is when you're putting text in like that, you'll find that I've got happy birthday to you and you and the happy are touching. So I'm going to just double click to get my text. I'm active in there and I'm going to put in a space in there. You can do anything you like in that space. You could have a hyphen or anything. I'm just going to leave it as a space. Do watch that. When you're doing a full circle of text, play with this, have a bit of a go see what you can get with that. That actually looks quite interesting. It's almost like negative space in the middle. And then we'll come back and we'll do one more thing to this. 41. Add Bows and Cut Them Out: I want to give this a little bit more depth. So I'm going to add a bow at the bottom. I've gone to my media into photos and I'm going to search for bow. There's quite a lot of them that come up in end here. Now I think I want something that already stand out. So I'm going to try this red one over here. And I'm going to increase the size a little bit and then remove the background from it. Now sometimes if you're doing something like this, you might think actually it's the wrong way round. You can go down here to where you've got to replace a page background. You've got a flip button. So you can actually flip things left and right. So if I want to that on that side, I could do that and flip it around. You can flip things upside down as well, although that bow is going to look very strange going upside down over there. So I'm just going to flip it back and place that where I wanted to go. I think it was actually quite good in the first place. Let's just take that back to there. Don't forget, you can always hold down the alter the option key to make copies over here. I just want a little bit of a bow in there, just something to balance the red from the top. Have a go with that one if you're copying exactly what I'm doing. Don't just try the red bow. Go in and have a look and see what it looks like with a gold one as well, because that's a really nice one. Doesn't jump out quite as much, but it can look really good in there. I'll just pop one in as well. While I'm here we'll just put a gold bow along the bottom. Once you finish this, you know the score go to choose how you want to download it. Obviously you might just be sending this around over to somebody. Or you might be sending it to one of the online shops which make the card and then send it on, in which case you can use PNGs or J Pegs, Whatever you do, have fun, create a few different cards. 42. Make a Birthday Card - Text to Template: Now the AI features in Express are really good and they just get better and better and dobie keep adding to them. Let's have a look down here. What I can do is I can just type in what I want. I'm going to type in, I want some templates for a birthday celebration. I'm going to type in fireworks celebration card saying happy birthday. Let's generate that and see what we get. These are not pre made templates, it's actually making the template for us as we're waiting. Sometimes they're really good, sometimes not so much. We just see what we get. Well, they're all right. Let's try again. I'll just generate some more results. Okay, some of these are quite nice. Let's go with this one over here. You can see it says Variations. If I click on that Variations button, it will take that template and then make variations on that particular Sam. This is where it gets interesting because we can keep going down and delving down within the same template. Now that one is just what I was after, I'm happy with that, I'm going to click on it and it will then open up the template within Express. Here's our template, and you can see all of these areas are fully editable. The fireworks extravaganza, the text in the middle, the color over there, and the photo in the background that it's generated. Try it out, see if you can make something wild and interesting. 43. Introduction to Make a Text Animated Logo: In this project, we're going to do an animated logo. We're going to use letters. You can use numbers if you wanted as well. And we're going to animate them in and get everything to look really professional. Let's get started. 44. Make a Rounded Background Shape: Let's make a logo. And we're going to animate it. We're just going to use some text And I'm going to go across to marketing. Rather than using one of their templates. I'm going to say create from scratch. I'm going to start off with a background over here. I want the background to have that icon look about it, which is the big square with the rounded corners. I'm going to go across to elements over here. In rectangles, there is a rectangle automatically with rounded corners. I'm going to make that a bit bigger. Let's take that near the edge over there. I'm going to get rid of the border, so I'm going to choose none for the border thickness and the color. I'm going to go and pick the color that I want. I'm going to go to custom color over here and choose, I think a darkish red like that. That looks pretty good, really, if you'd like to get that far and make your shape over here on your logo size. And then we'll animate it in the next video. 45. Animate the Letters: I'd like to have the letters for my business in here. My business is actually called Red Rocket Studio. I would like to have R RS for my little logo and I want to animate them in. What I'm going to do is I'm going to go along to the text tool and I'm just going to add some text. I'm going to put in the R in there. I'm going to select it and then go and find a decent typeface that I like. I want something pretty chunky for this. Now, once again, I can either go and view these ones here, which I can't actually see anything. There we go, that's what I wanted. Something big like that. You can choose whatever type face you like. I'm going to make it a bit bigger over there. There is my R in here, so there's going to be two Rs. I'm going to hold down the option or the old key and just drag another copy of that out over there. So I'm going to put them together so they almost make a single character in there. Then I'm going to hold down the option key again, drag another one, and I'm going to select this one and make that into the in there. Now they still need a little bit of moving around. I think this one might have to move over a little bit over there. That one needs to come up a bit. Maybe move down a little bit. You can use the arrows on your keyboard to move things ever so slightly to try and get that where I want it. There we go. Then once again, I'm going to take this, I'm going to move that in a little bit like that. Now that I've got those three characters, I'd like to start to animate them. It's start off with the R, so I'll click on the R. I want this to animate in from the left hand side. I'm going to go down here to the bottom to my animation. I'm going to animate it in. I'll choose in. And you can see as you go to these, it shows you what they do. I've got to drift in there, which drifts it in over from the left hand side or there's a slide which slides in a lot faster in there. You can do any that you like over here. I think I'm going to go with the slide. Click on that. Now I can see, and here that I've got a timeline. I want to show the layer timing. So I'm going to click on that little button there, so I can see the layer timing in here. I'm also going to change the duration of this, so I'm just going to bring it into 1 second. Let's play that and see how that works. I play, it comes in like that. Quite quickly. Like so now, very quickly, after this one has come in, I want the next one to animate. And then the next one as well. I don't want to hang around too long, they just need to come in, come in, come in. I'm going to then go along to the R. Do the same thing, just move down, choose animation, animate in. Once again, I want this to slide in, but this time I want to slide in from the bottom. So I can click on this direction over there, so you can see it will just come up like that. Once again, I can change the timing on that. But if I play this at the moment, they will both play in together. And I'd like them to come in one and then the other one comes in shortly after that. If I'm on the R, I can go to its time line here. And I can actually pull that in a little bit over there. If we play that now, you'll see one comes in, then the next one, let's do that again, comes in, then the other R comes in from below. Then finally the S is going to come in from the right, exactly the same. Go down there to animation. I'm going to animate that in from the right, So we'll just slide it. And then choose from the right in there. And change the speed then of over here. That one comes in, comes in. That R comes in there over here. I want my next one to start to come in, so I'll pull that up like, so let's have a look at that. 123 comes in very fast. Then I just need another little bit of text over here to say design. I'm going to do that in a different type face as well. That's going to fade in. I'm going to go to my text. I'm going to go over here to add your text. I'm just going to choose the word design. I'd like to change the typeface on there to something a little bit more handwritten, shall we say. I think that's a too much in the I just want to a quick like a scribble. Where were you? Just say, oh there's the word design. You could spend hours in here. I'm going to try that one over there. Not really sure about that D in there, but let's have a look, we'll pull that across. That word design is going to be there. Once again, I could spend forever. I'll go with that one there. We'll just make it a little bit smaller and move it across. This one on three of animated in. I want the design to actually come in over here. I'll start there, then I'm going to go back. So I'll click off of the recommended to the little arrow at the top. I'm going to go down to the bottom to animation, animated. I'm just going to fade in over here. And once again, I can choose how much I want to fade it over there. We've always got different types of fades. So they give them personality. So you have a soft and gentle fade, or a really strong or an energetic or a loud fade. Have a play with them. See what works for you. I'm going to go with the soft fade over here, so it'll just come in quite gently at the bottom. Let's try that down. Play it. So click on play. It's looking okay. But I don't think the timing is quite right. And timing is everything when it comes to animation. It needs to be much more faster and Snappy. Snappy is the word I'm looking for. I'm going to go to the R over there, and I'm going to move it over a little bit. Now I'm having problems because this is quite small, it's difficult to get the size right down the bottom. We've got a zoom tool, so I can just zoom in over there, and that'll make it easier for me to move this around. So I'm going to move that one up there, and let's have a look at the, there's the over there. I'm going to move that a little bit closer to that, then once again, the word design. That's going to move up a little bit to there as well. Maybe not quite so close. Let's try it out and see how that works. There we go. That looks much better. We have the three letters coming in very quickly, in quick succession. Then the design just fades in over the. Lastly, we need to save this out. We're going to do that by going to download. We're going to choose the MP four option in here, because we want this to be video and animated. The video resolution, I can click in there and I can choose any type of resolution that I like. It depends where this is going to go. I'm saying, well, it's probably going to go for maybe just into Instagram. I think I'll just use the ten ATP because that's the Instagram size. I'll click on download over there, and then it'll just render that little bit of video out for me. Let's have a look at that bit of video. So I've just gone to a new tab I'm getting to file and open it was in my downloads. It should be the very top one in the list. There it is, there. We'll just open that. And there we go. It plays very quickly. Have a bit of a go with that and animate some characters in there. If you want to bring in a graphic or a little icon of some description, by all means, do so and animate it in there as well. Don't forget, keep it short and snappy. Nobody wants to sit for 5 seconds while they watch your character slowly fade in. I know as creatives, it's lovely to see that happening, but people don't want to hang around for that long. Anyway, try it out. 46. Introduction to Create a Tik Tok Video: For this project, we're going to be using a number of videos as you can see. And we're going to blend those videos together so we're going to have some nice transitions between them. We're going to be putting text over the top. We're going to be adding Sound, and we're going to be adding a voice over as well. It's going to be really cool. Well then export it out as a video. 47. Add 4 Videos and Crop Length: I'm going to go to videos. I'm going to go down here to the Tiktok video, and I'm going to create something from scratch. The first thing that happens is down here as we get a timeline and I can now go and find the video, the size is all set up. We're going to put in a few different videos and put them together and have a bit of a play with the order of them as well in the media. I am rather in photos. I've gone to video and I'm going to find some suitable video. Now I'm going to look for surfing over here. There's quite a lot of surfing videos around. I quite like that one, so I'm going to click on that and you can see it pops in over here. Now I'm going to test it out. So I'll just click on the play button. Get it to play. I like it but it's too long. That's 13 seconds. And I just want to have four short video clips and put them together. I can pull from this side and I can pull from this side to shorten the video up. Once again, I'm just pulling from one side and you can see I've got it down to 5 seconds, 4 seconds. Let's just go with 5 seconds on there. We can always change it later on. I can also go to the video and I can pull it out so I can scale it up if I want a different part of the video to show, I think something like that. Let's have a little look at that over there. That looks great. I like that. Now let me go and find another one. I'm going to go up to once again, my media. Over to the videos and I'll just keep looking for something else that will already work in here. There's a lovely wave there, You can see when I bring it in, it's come in over here on top of that video. If I do that, it's actually right on top of that one there. Let me get rid of that, I'll delete that. What we actually need to do is we need to add a scene. So that'll be for the second video. If I click Add Scene, now there's a bit of timeline there. And if I click on this one, it comes into that time line over there. Now, of course, same again. I'm just going to pull this up. I'm just going to scale it right up. I think I'd like it to be just a little bit bigger than that, so it fits in the whole page over there. Let's see how that looks. If I just play that bit there, it's a lovely wave breaking over there that looks great. And then we actually go underwater, but I just want the wave breaking. So I'm going to pull this in a little bit like that over there. And I'm going to go down to walls to about 5 seconds. But I want this one to be first before that one. So I can just drag the whole video and drop it in front of that one. Like let's try that out so there will be 10 seconds wave breaking in there. Then we go into the surfer like So I want to add another scene, so I'm going to click over here to add another scene. Or if you want to add a scene between two, you can click on a little plus which will then add a scene or a transision which will come to later on. I've added my scene in there, so I'm going to go and find another surfing video in here. This is where it could take a little while. There we go, We got that one I'm going to click on that comes in. And let's shorten that up also to about 5 seconds in there. There are some options for video over here. If the video Sound, you can mute it. We're just going to put in some music afterwards. You can crop the video down if you wish as well. So you can make it a bit bigger or smaller or crop it. There's an opacity option in there. We can do things like flip the video over or flip it upside down, just like we would do with pictures. You can even go into your effects. You can try different effects on that video. Let's play that and you can see what happens. It's really cool results on that. I'm just going to go back to N in there. I want one more video here. I'm going to go to videos and I'm going to say surfer. I can actually have a person in here. Let's have somebody walking along. It looks like it's quite nice with the beach in the background. We'll just pull this up there. This is quite long. I'm going to go to the percentage at the bottom and pull this out. So you can see I can scroll in and scroll out of my videos. I'll pull that in to make it a little bit shin, pull that up a bit. So that last little bit there will just be those people walking across have to go with that. Put in some videos, if you want to change the order, remember just drag them around to adjust the order. If you want to scale them, you can scale them up. There's a crop option in here, for example. Here I could have that inside a shape over there with a different background on it. I'm going to just undo that. I'm using command z or control zed to undo. Try out, have a bit of a play with that and then we'll do some more on this. 48. Color Grade Your Videos: Let's have, look at the colors that we've got here as we play this, this one here. There's some nice blues in there, but to be honest, it's a little bit dull. This one once again, great blues, but not that exciting. Same again over here, and we've got the orange at the end. What I want to do is I want to either change some of these videos for different ones or brighten the whole thing up. I think this one over here, I'm going to change because as good as it is, you can't really see the surface in there. And I'm actually going to bring in another one in here. In place of that one, I'll just drag and drop the media into the scene. You can see it comes in after the one that was selected. I can now just go to that scene there and I can delete that scene. I'll click on those three little buttons there and say, delete scene. And there's my new scene over there that's so much better with a much, much brighter scene. But what about this first one? How can I brighten it up? We'll like a picture, we can go along and we can click on it and go down to the adjustments. Here I'm going to click the adjustments, and you can see I can brighten it up by using that brightness. I can go further down and I can increase the color saturation. So I can really brighten up some of those blues in there. You can see how bright that is by looking underneath that wave over there. I've got that brighter in there. This one's looking good. But I think I might want to also go into the adjustments over here. By the way, in full video terms, this is known as color grading. When you're adjusting the colors on a piece of video or for images, it's known as color adjustments. Let's have a look to see if we can brighten it up a little bit. Highlights, We'll keep those shadows. I'll leave those down as well, so we just get a little bit more brightness and contrast into that. Of course, I can go down here and I can warm the scene up. Or I could cool the scene down. I'm going to warm it up ever so slightly. Moving on to the next one. Once again with this one, I'm going to go along, let's click on that. Over to my adjustments and I'm going to increase the contrast. I think I'll brightened up a little bit and then go down to the saturation and intensify the color. Last one in here, well, it is orange anyway. I don't know whether there's much that I can do to it, but I'm going to find out. I'm going to go down there to my adjustments. And let's increase the contrast. I think give it a bit more contrast like that, that's much better over there. We've got more of that sunset type of feel to it. Do have a little bit of a go with that. Doing a little bit of color grading or color adjustments on the videos. If you want to change any by all means just drag them in and remove the scene that you don't want by going to the little button, there's three little dots over there. And just choosing to delete that scene. 49. Transitions Between Videos: Let's have a look at the transitions between these. If I play it at the moment, looking at the timing, I'm thinking 5 seconds, maybe a bit too long. So I'm going to just shorten that up a little bit like that. This one where the surfer gets up off the board is over here. We've got the surfer coming along and that one's perfect as well. But between them, I'm going to click on the little plus over here, and I'm going to add a transsion. Now you can see over here that we've got three transitions that we can use. A dissolve, where one fades into the other. A push, where one video pushes the other one out the way. And a slide where one slides in above it. And as you can see here, there's more coming. Very soon, we've got things like wipes, ghosts fade to black, or fade to white. I've to click on Dissolve. If I click on preview, you can see it showing me that very quick dissolve, the fade from one to the other. Normally your dissolves tend to be quite quick, especially if you're cutting together a number of pieces of video. Sometimes we use a dissolve and it's a fast dissolve. Sometimes we don't use a dissolve at all. But for this particular example, I'm going to use a very long dissolve. Everything is almost like dream like, is just going to blend from one into the next. I can apply to that one and then I could go along to the next one and do another one on there. Or I can just say apply to all scenes. That will apply to all of these videos. If I play this now, let's see how that actually runs over there. We then start to dissolve into the next one, really nice dreamy scene. Into the next one, the surfer goes into the waves and the waves finally go into the beach scene over there. Really nice and dreamy. It depends on your subject matter as to how fast those dissolves are going to be dried out. 50. Add a Graphic and Color It: What I'd like to do now is to put in some graphical shapes and some text into my sequence. So I'm going to go along to elements in here and I want to choose something to go in there. Now you'll see along the top we've got design assets, backgrounds, and shapes. We had a look at shapes already in the course. We've done a background in there. I'm going to go to design elements. I want to find something which complements the scene. And because we always associate surfing and sun with sun, I want to find some sort of little graphic which looks like a sun. But I don't want it to be an exact cartoon sun. I just want a little round ball type of shape. I'm going to go into brushes over here and say view all. And I'm going to go across to paint because there's some really nice paint splatters in there, so there might be a nice round one there we go. Look at that one over there, that's going to be perfect. If you want different shapes for yours, absolutely fine. Just pick any shape you like. But I'm going to choose that shape. Now we come across the problem because this shape here is green. I really want this to be yellow or orange. Something which will counteract or be opposite the blues and greens that I've got in the video. We can't change the color directly of that. But what we can do is we can go down to the effects. Now in the effects here, you'll see that there's a colorized option. If I click on that colorized option, there's a little thing in the middle where if you click it, you can actually flick through the colors themselves. You can actually go through and go, yeah, didn't like that, don't like that, That's okay. Maybe I could deal with that. The other way that we can do it is we can go to Duotone and use a custom color in here. I'm going to go to my shadows over there. And I'm going to make that. I'll use the custom color. I'm going to make that yellow. I'm going to go with a bright yellow over there. I'm going to go to the highlights. I'm going to make that a yellow, orange, and yellow as well. You can actually change the color of these items just using Dua tones or the colorize, or even the tint setting in there. There's my first little shape. I'm going to pop it down in the corner, make it a little bit smaller, and then I'll bring in some text next to that text. Really simple. We've done it before. I'm just going to go along to the T, add my own text in here and let's put in sol surfing. I would like that to be a little bit more interesting. I'm going to the text itself, I'm going to find a typeface that I think works with the feel that I'm going for. And I'm going to use dynamic text in here. If we zoom in now, I can use this little zoom button at the top here to just zoom in a little bit. You can see the shortcuts are there. I'm going to go to 25% There we go, I can see what's going on there. I'm going to just pull that around so we get soul surfing over there. Now, this looked great when it was all lower case. Let's just make that readables, you can see it properly. I'll change the color in here. White for the moment. It worked very well when it was lower case with that type face, but I don't actually like that type face. I'm clicking a few times and I'm going to change it to something else. Let's have a look and see what the recommendations are like. Interesting. I'm just going to pick one of these simple ones down here which still have a bit of a hand drawn feel to them. I'll move that into the right position over there. You can use the arrows on your keyboard if you need to move things around a little bit as well. Have a go with that, Find a shape, put a shape in, and do that for the beginning. Then we're going to go to the end, and we're going to have another shape at the end as well. You can find any shape you like in there. Remember it's elements. You can go into your elements in there and pick a shape. Use brushes. This element shapes the frames. There's all sorts of wind, wonderful things, textures in here. Pick one of them, you can add it in and you can resize it go. 51. Add Some Music: I've put a little shape in it was one of these digital shapes in there. And I colored it up using exactly the same method I took the color from the sky. I want some text in there now. I want to use the same type faces I used in the beginning. I'm going to go along to my original there. I'm going to copy that using command on a Mac or control and command C or control C to copy that. Then I can go into this scene here and command V or control V to paste that in. Now I'm going to zoom in a bit, so we can see that a bit better. I'm just going to go in here to 25% and move this up a little bit. I think I want that all on one line, so I'm going to move that across to a single line. Oh, that doesn't look so good. Let's try double line again. I thought it was would look good on one line, but obviously it doesn't. Then I'm going to go and change the color of that once again into my fill over here. I'm going to go to the sample tool and just sample the brown from the back of the board. Now I think those are all okay and everything seems to be quite readable. I'd now like some sound in here, so I'm going to bring in some sound. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to go along to the audio, and that's in the media. Go over to audio and I'm going to find something in here. I'm going to have a look for fun if we can play these. That's quite a nice one actually. That doesn't work ready very well. Or we could search for something, in my case like surf and I'll find something else in here. Think about this. Okay, let's go with that one. So I'm just going to click on it. Bring it in and check it out again. Okay, that's got a nice sort of feel of the '60s surfing, so I'm going to go with that anyway. Do have a go with that. Put in a bit more text, bring in a sound in there and then we'll look finally at the recording, the voice to do a voice over. 52. Add a Voiceover: Let's have a look at on a voice over. What I'm going to do is I'm going to go over to record voice over and I'm going to click on that. And then I'm going to put my voice over on here. All I'm going to do is say what I want, which is going to be soul surfing. Your life will never be the same again. That's all that I want in there. I'm going to click on Record Voice now, it's just asked me for permission. I'm going to allow that to use my microphone over there. You can see it's testing the quality of the microphone, how loud it is. I'm going to start recording. Soul surfing. Your life will never be the same again. Now that didn't quite go as I wanted to. I paused in the middle, so I'm just going to delete that recording and try it again. And you can keep going until you get this right Once again I'm going to start. So surfing your life will never be the same again. It's finish recording. So here is my recording and it comes in wherever that playback head was. I want that to be at the beginning. Let's try it over there. I think I might have to turn down the music because the music was. Let's see what this is like metal saying, we've got a problem there. This is too loud and I can't hear me. So I'll click on that one set to add 100% already. Let's take this one down again and listen once more. You do soul surfing, your life will never be the same again. Now if you're happy with that, that's great. Otherwise, just deleted and try again once again. I'll start recording over there. I'm going to do exactly the same thing again and you'll see it'll come in from here. Try soul surfing. Your life will never be the same again. I'm going to have that near the end. We'll play the whole thing from the beginning. You can just about hear music and go out blends in there and the voice. Try a soul, your life will never be the same again. That's all we now have to do is to download it. I'm going to do that by going to download up here. You can see it's actually automatically gone to an MP four video. We then got video resolution and I'm going to choose the original size over there. Ten ATP. I'm going to click on download, so it's downloaded. I'm going to go along and find it in the downloads folder. Double click and play. Try Soul Surfing will never be the same again. That's it. Ready to be uploaded to Tiktok. 53.
