1. Welcome!: Hi everyone and welcome to this class. My name and Soyuz Island Digital Creative from government. And in this class I'm going to be showing you how I create beautiful botanical in Adobe Illustrator. For this class, we'll be creating a beautiful botanical illustrations. So you can draw whatever flour you want, whatever kind of plant or anything that you want to create, that's up to you. I will be using my own reference image, but feel free to find urine. Oh, take your inverter. You can create either a simple or a detailed one. This is up to you. I will show you how to be both. And just as done in this class is for people at all levels. You can do it if you really advanced a formula SRE, or you can make one even if you've never touched the software before. Well, there's a general kind of knowledge about in software is ideal, but it's not necessary. At the end of each lesson, I'd really encourage you to share your work to the project section below and get some feedback. Feel free to you. You don't want to, that's fine. I'd love to see your final one at the end there. That would be really lovely and yeah, please feel free to follow along as occurred. And the end of each lesson you can just catch up to where I'm up to bend. Yeah, we'll get started.
2. Finding a Reference Image: So to find your reference image, you can either use a predator that you've taken yourself or a friend or something is taken in a given condition, VDS. Or you can jump onto a website such as unpleasurable pixels, which I've got up on my laptop right now. And basically, these websites give free images that you can reference in your illustrations that you can use to put some things ultimate free and downloadable at a high resolution. So they were all really nice quality and they are all frame, which is awesome. So I'm going to ask you to jump onto one of these websites or very few camera or jump outside if you want anchor, take a figure of a floral that you want to draw, I will be finding one on, on spatial pixels and downloading that just second is cost. And yet, so I'll see you in a sec. Very fun. You're further, and we'll get on to the next lesson.
3. Setting up your illustrator layout: All right, so I've Urban up illustrated and we get a create a new document. And I'm going to size it for Instagram, beam size or whatever size you want. I usually try to keep it pretty high resolution by making the canvas itself pretty big, but illustrators perfect in that it is vector-based, sir, you can scale up the illustration that you've created to be whatever size you want. And it doesn't matter because it will never lose resolution, because it is defined by a mathematical equation, which is really cool. So I'm gonna go with this one That's the custom one that I've just made. So it's 1600 by 2 thousand pixels, but I'm just going to name it. Put operation. Don't worry about anything else. We'll just press Create now. Just wait for terminal there. Okay, so there's our canvas. And I'm gonna show you how to get your layout to be just like mine so that we're on the same kind of picked. If you go to the top right corner and say, that's us, which workspace. I'm going to click on a central classic, that's the one that I've gotten out. It should jump to something like this. If you've got things sticking out, just feel free to close them. So you've got like panels and things like this. You just go, you know, thinks we don't want that. So whenever you need a penalty, you can just see whatever I have on my screen and just for that one on your own, if you're missing a winner, just guard to window and you can find it. He officers say I wanted to see the credit and brushes tunnel. Just quick ana animal pullback boy. And then you find it he can't find it on the toolbox or if it's not on the toolbox at all time, if that makes sense. So that's my layout that I use. And yeah, I guess we're just going to import the further and get started. So everyone turn illustrate how are we going to import our further? And are you going to do is press control shift P folder in File Place and you offer them come up and you can just select it from the downloads. Troponin wearable. And it's going to be huge because the photo itself is really hard risk. So it's got a lot of pixels inside, so we'll just put it wherever you want it and just grab the top hold shift. And we'll scale it down by pressing Shift will maintain the proportion and keep everything nice and clean. Sir, you can press this button up here, which is just a line in the middle. And that's a bit too far. Ribosome's going to grow. So it's been more centered here, control 0 to get back culpable, I'm going to look this way and now because I don't need it to be movable because I don't want to have an altered at all. I don't want to change anything where it's positioned. So what I'm gonna do is I'm going to go on this little Layers panel here. You don't see that just by Wynder. And then where is it? Lays F7 as well, which are just press this little square here that's blank. And we'll look at, sir, you can't touch it, can't do anything. And then now that we've got to look like we can't do anything else. I'll double, but it's certainly going to have to make a new layer on top. And now we can draw and create out illustration. For now I'm going to ask you to, you're gonna illustrate in polio further and we're gonna get started. So next up, we're going to learn how to create the outlines for the illustration and get started on the actual drawing pop. Let's gear.
4. Simple Outlines: Now we've put out further open up in Illustrator and ready to go and learn a new layers so we can stop drawing on top of it without moving the further delay. Sir, I'm just going to tell you about the pencil and the pencil tool and kinda like the difference between them and when to use what and all that stuff. So basically you've got the pen tool which is paying the cable. And all that does is kinda make straight lines and you can hold and drag to make curved lines. And this is one of the most fundamental parts of illustrator. Quite a handy thing to have, Sir, breastfeed to correction that you normal selection tool, which is the black arrow up yet. And basically you can move it around wherever you want, so good and create shapes. And usually they can be a little bit jagged and not very smart. So this one's pretty all right. I didn't make too many mistakes here. Can you see up in this little corner here, I've got a little corner, a bit of a jagged edge, which I'm not really that much of a fan of. I like my illustrations to kind of have like a smooth flowing, organic kinda feel if that makes sense or what you can do. If you want to use the pen tool, which you're welcome to. I'm not going to be eating the Pen tool for this class, but just, it's good to know about, especially if you're using mouse. Yeah, anyway, so click Ionian keyboard or click on this little arrow. Ok, we'll select the little anchor and just kind of like pull it down. And that'll help smooth it out. If you've ever got something that's not very smooth, but you want it to be the most nervous. So to zoom out alt and scroll and also to refer around, you just press space bar and you can click and drag and then over here on to Canvas through illustrated tips. Yes, sir. Yeah. That's okay. It's not the best. It's not super smearing them early. Happy with it. Yeah, I'm not really that much of a fan of the Pen tool. It's not really my favorite. So I'm just gonna delete this by clicking backspace from my black arrow tool. I like to use what's called the pencil tool, which if you click on your keyboard, it comes up with the pencil tool. And this is a really cool tool because you can draw like free-flowing shapes. You don't have to click a bunch of time security to bunch of thinkers. It's kinda just drawing with a pencil, you know, give it a fill. And that's a bit more smooth and organic and kind of fun to play with. If it's not smooth enough, what you can do is press enter to get to your pencil tool anger enter. And this will bring up the pencil tool options. And this is where you can have a lot of flexibility in what you're doing. So say you wanted to smooth out this illustration, but you didn't want to have to find the smooth tool, which is another tool in itself. But it's really cool. I love us. Mitchell. Say you just wanted to smooth it out without having to jump onto this MOOC tool and make a whole big fuss. All you do is press OK, total smear tool. And that'll help you smear things out when you're drawing. So that's really handy. And then there's some other things here that you can play with. Sorry, like how accurate you start when you're actually drawing or how smooth it is. I usually like to have it around the middle just because you kinda get a bit of smoothness, but it's not like super constrained to elect rate anchor points when you want to have like a bunch of little things anyway, you'll kinda see what I mean. If you start to play around with it, I'll just show you what it's like actually. And I also like to have Phil new pencil strokes and keep selected turned off. Just because it's a lot easier when I'm drawing on my actual laptop screen because it is a touchscreen. Yes. So she a smooth pencil line that you can draw. Let's just get off this and draw a smooth line. So say I'm doing a lot of dragon stuff, it's a little bit messy. And culturals kinda like sniffed it out and made it all very smooth. I guess it's just made it. Crisp and clear, very nice and easy. So that's with the smooth turned all the way out. And go back to our pencil tool options. And good enough to accurate. And I'll show you the same kind of thing with accurate tetanus sensorium Spain. Kinda silly or crazy. And you can see that's kind of given it a lot more kind of accuracy how it actually drew it. Leaves a lot of like jacket lines. It's all of this messy, is not very clean and smooth. So you can kind of see the difference between all the way accurate and all the Y Smith. And yeah, hopefully that kind of helps you understand the difference between those. I like to have it in the middle, so it's not completely Smith when I'm trying to make it a little bit messy. And it's not completely messy when trying to keep it nice and clean. Cr just delete. There's now if we want to smooth the shape out, so we put a bit of corners developing here and not really as smooth as I might like them to do, is click on the Shape and press enter. And then if you've got the option turned on on your keyboard, niche press Alt and o option. And you can just kind of smooth it out by clicking and dragging around and making this kind of smooth shape. All this does is it just kind of like alters the anchor points. And then once you happy, you can turn off this metal and stopped doing them. If you can't find out how to turn on the Alt key told us move tool, all you gotta do is go to the pencil tool, called it down. Oop, sorry. Hold it down. And third is, so you can just, if nothing selected right now, you're going to have to have something selected to actually use the tool. So it knows what you're trying to do. But yeah, that's kind of the basics of how to do this sort of stuff that I like to focus on. So you can use a mouse or a touchscreen computer like me, or a tablet. If you'd go on say like a webcam tablet or some people use, I forget what it's called, but there's an app that you can get on your iPad that connects to Adobe Illustrator, that you can kinda like mirror. Draw on that with your Apple pencil, which is really cool. I like to just draw straight onto my laptop because it's easiest for me. Yes, sir. What have you got? If you've got a mouse, you can use the pencil tool, it's totally fine. Just might take a couple extra girls to get poll around the actual spots that you might get. And as accurate to the roads you want you don't want to bet accurate, then that's fine. Just do whatever you feel like. I'm gonna get actually into the actual illustration out and I'm going to flip my laptop into tablet Margaret, now so that we can start drawing on it. So I'll actually first, sorry, what we're gonna do is press shift x and that'll just change your stroke to white and you filter black. I'm going to turn off the fill. And so we've only got a white stripe that just helps you so you can see what you're doing and keeps it all very nice and clean. If you click on the stroke and it's not what meter have, what, just go up to the colour panel and there it is, you just click on that panel will make, will start. I'm gonna go into your tablet mode. When you're in tablet merge or just backed away ego doesn't really matter. It depends on kind of what you're up to in regards to your laptop situation. If you are in tablet mode like me, and a little paint brush and then click on the little pencil. That's how you get the pencil tool up always pressed on the keyboard and we'll get started third, I'm going to zoom in right onto the third year and doing it right in the middle. Basically, I'm just gonna take my pencil enemy post-doc because outlining around where I can see shapes. And actually I'm going to turn it back. Sort of middle of the pencil tool options because I don't want it to be super accurate, sir. Just fine. We can see shapes and the biggest thing in this pot is to make sure that you're overlapping lines because that'll come in handy later when we try to add color. So just whatever lines you can see, they don't have to be super accurate to the further just do whatever you feel like. You know, it just looked around and draw all the little lines. Just keep it simple. Look for the biggest shapes that you can see. Especially if you're gonna do illustration. I need to go crazy on the details are now carefully, that kinda makes sense. I'm just gonna go through and do in the lines. And then we'll put back and have a chat. To the main thing is to kind of looking for where it's scribed out, Adler, It's kind of like Dhaka, just that sort of stuff. Just the main big shapes that you can see while you're drawing. So you give it meant some nice progress Hill and we'll just keep going. If you want to continue align that you've just drawn and you want to, like say, run out of space on the actual screen and you want to keep drawing POS dot and connect the line without having to like overlapping her federal local or you have to do is just click on your black Eric tool at the top. Select the line that you want to draw on. And we'll just go back to the pencil and keep drawing. That's the cool thing about the pencil tool. It'll edit the pods that you've already drawn and connect the line and keep up going, sorry, that kind of sense. It'll just keep the line going and you don't have to worry about who are overlapping newlines and making a whole mass. He knows keep drawing the line that you already on. What's going on to the leaves now. Just get the general shape doesn't have to be exactly like the shredder is gonna extend these lines down to the bottom so that we don't have to draw a lilies because I'm just gonna keep this nice and simple. And again, sorry, there's outlines on the flower. Very, pretty, very nice. And yeah, so that's all the wines that you have to do for this simple illustration, you can do more or less, adds up to, you can make it really simple. Really like nothing going on, or you can make it really detailed. And we're going to go onto your coloring it in now and feel free to join me on that one. Or if you want to add a detailed kind of element to your illustration, feel free to just skip on a head. Two, not the next lesson, but the lesson after where we will talk about making the detailed lines and I'll show you how to do that.
5. Simple Colour: Okay, so now we're going to add the coloring into 3D illustration on the simple layout, sir. I've done all that line's going to simple drawing and now we're going to add the coloring and start referring to my screen. All we gotta do is start off by grabbing P on the caplets and Pinto, which is Opia. And just draw a line at the bottom so that the end of your little thing is like herbal app. So you've got like an overlap here. So this will cut off this. That kinda makes sense. Alright, so now I'm just going to click and drag and select everything with the black error Selection Tool, press Control, Alt x, and that'll make it live paint groups are what we're going to be using the Live Paint book at tool for this section of the class or HE GET that. I'm just gonna press controls it to Undo, select everything and your object, present live paint make. And that'll make it into a live paint group. And basically what that means is that now if you go to the paint bucket, which is underneath the shape builder tool, you can each section that has lines are Gillespie is now its own shape basically. So you can fill in each section now without having to draw a bunch of lots of different shapes on top of each other to make the illustration, if I kind of make sense. So yeah, this is really cool way to do it, and that's my method. So we're gonna get started now. I'm gonna show you how to get to the eyedropper tool and how to fill it in, doing it that way or point a ulcer colored in using a pellet. Let's start off by using the eyedropper tool. When you'll on the paint bucket, I The Press k on your keyboard or will find it in the tool while here, what you can do is you can press Alt on the keyboard and that'll trigger the eyedropper tool. Now you can go to wherever you want in your actual further and just click. And that'll give you that color wheel and you'll recall a panel, say then it'll automatically go back to the paint bucket tool. And you can just click and that'll fill it in so you can fill in the code for it. You want them to be one here and one of you. And that's like a really easy way to do it. Otherwise, if you having trouble without and there's some computers have some issues with getting the eyedropper tool by pressing, although I'm not sure why that's happening. If that's not working for you and pressing altered weren't get the eyedropper tool up. What you can do is you can press F5 keyboard and click and then press cake. And you're back to the paint bucket and then you can just fill in as you please. Just switching between I and K, clicking in between. I like to just use the ultimately because it's just easier and faster. So just press k And I'm Michaela and just fill it in like this. Just going around. Really easy way to do it. So we'll do all this. Do you see how here I filled in this section but it's cut it off. Even though there's no line here. It's because there's this thing called gaps. So if weaker to object live paint and then gap options, we can see where it's going to start filling in gaps with invisible lines. It kind of make sure that like if you've got some two lines that are really close together, it will bridge that gap between them and it will fill it in so that it might think that you've drawn a line there that was first to reach all the way across. I heard that kind of makes sense. Just makes holes in your excellent times, which is a bit annoying, but it's fine. Sorry, selection, finger object, live paint, gap options. And you can change where that gets us or you move this older as little red dots, then they show you where H gap is and yeah, that's kinda handy that it will show you it. And then you can close the gaps with Paul's from, straight from here. So it'll just put Paulson and just close off the gaps. You can also set it to different sized gaps for it to close. So he only wanted to lodge gaps to close. It'll do that. If you want medium gaps to shut up and do that. And if you only wanted to look for really small gaps, it'll do that too. So I was really good at small for now and not going to close anything off for the moment. And we'll just keep drawings are basically you've got happens. I'll just keep filling it in all the way down the shape until I've got o because I want. So yeah, just go around finding colors to fill in. Family gap here. It's gonna find this pink again pleasing the iRobot anger backwards and fill it in. And just make your way to close the drawer and you don't have to do it all in one big girl. You can. If you get sick of one section, you can go off and do another one until you come back to it. Totally fun. And yeah, we'll just go around and give up. Alright, so there's out drawing. And this is just the simple one colored in using the eyedropper tool. And I've just select it and turned off my cert. So just click them. And that regard, we can turn off layer one to get rid of it. And we can see that we've got a gap that we've missed. So we can just go back to the hydrofoil. I can fill that back-end. But you can see it's looking a little bit funny like the colors and just a bit off, it's just a bit weird. So what I like to do is I will make a pellet and I will use that pellet to fill in the rest of the drawing so that it's all kind of more cohesive. And we don't have weird things like giant pink splotch in this, like purpley bid and this grey bit here like we like to keep it all in the same kind of family. So what I'll do is let's go back onto the fighter. And I'm just going to make a duplicate of this by pressing alt, holdup ultimate keyboard and click and drag the illustration. So that's how I dropped an illustration. Now I'm going to turn all the colors off. The one that's on the screen right now. Federal off, we don't want to look at the columns, we just want to look at the further beneath search. It's going to turn that off. But tonight so I can see what I'm doing and that we get. So you can see how there's lots of different cones in this village, in this murder, which makes sense because it's further, what you can do is you can grab the second tool. He'll just by holding down on the Rectangle tool, any of these will move, will do just like the second one. He throws Elana k1 to get to them. Draw a little circle, hold shift to make it perfect. School looks nicer. Well, yeah, I keep it selected and grabbed the eyedropper tool and find a nice highlight color that we love to use. Sir, I'm thinking maybe around here. That's quite pretty. And yet so that's a good one if you want to alter it. You can't really get what you want. You can come into this by double-clicking on this little square here. Double-click and have a look at what you're doing. Yeah. You can make it more one current, you can make it look cool, turned whatever color you want the file to be pretty much you can treat it and make it more applicant findGene reddish below here. So it's like a nice form, highlights associate. Now, hold down Alt or option on your keyboard and drag this circle down. Now, with this one selected, I'm going to choose a slightly darker color, sorry, just around wherever you kinda want it to be. And we're going to make it more orangey and a bit darker. Just play around and see what you feel like. Playing with these colors and making a little pellet for ourselves. So enlightening them little bit. Not that my angle. Just playing around and see how that's a nice kind of harmony that it's quite nice to look at. So what we can do is we can spread these out of it further. Selects Sean's in between these goals. So kind of find like a middle ground between them. So see how it's quite a nice transition. Okay, that again, for this one, kind of get it a bit more of it. A nice transition between those. Like a nice little call appellate here, that's kinda all similar colors. Very nice and very five, right? Not this crazy thing that we've got over here, but light green and the light gray, purple and pink and orange, all the different colors. So we don't really want that. He's going to make another one that's just fit Dhaka. I'm just gonna, I drove with this one as well. So see how that's red colors very deep. Who's going to soften it a bit, make it a bit RNG. That's great, better. It's more in this kind of family that we are going for. Just going to make a bit of a transition shape to that one. So I'll make it this color so I can find my way down. Quiet. Just play around to a, you get the Collins you want and their brush whatsoever. And then here that's kind of like a nice in-between color. That's sort of the fiber into nice. We could even add an extra one in there. But anyway, we'll add more if we need to. Start. Now I'm gonna go and grab my highlight shape, and I'm going to fill in all the highlights for the pedals. So got my eyedropper tool press, I click, and then I'm going to get back to my live paint bucket. Alright, sir, I'm just gonna click on all the little highlights here that I want to make them the brightest codes. And even put this wherever you want. It's kind of up to you. Just keep things nice and friendly. And that actually change this one. So I've just pressed the backslash on my keyboard where the question OK, it's just to make the field none and then click it again to make that Hafner field. So it's a nice little trick. I'm just gonna make this one a highlight instead of the one below it. And then just work your way down. So maybe this one in the darker spots or dark spots with Docker dot on there and they're around wherever you feel like, pretty much. Salt a little bit. Feel mast, put a nice little spot. Pretty happy with that. And then we'll just keep going. Keep selecting colors from the palette and work my way down. Those are helps if you just want to add the darkest color as well. And then you can kind of figure out where the transition will be between those ones. I'm going to add the grain now for these little petals, flatline, thumb's going to select it, turn off the strip. And that's looking a lot more cohesive, bit more friendly and nice than this one. So that's a good way to kind of introduce some different colours, but not make it to intents. And you can just play around with it. A causality more unique to your style. See what you wanna do, make it bit more of a transition there. And yeah, just play into it like Mike dot one from human to linger. So that's a nice simple words that we've created. And we can just turn off this decline and say we'd miss those gaps again. So I turn off the bottom layer in the layers panel and I'm just going to find out which poses wounds and fillers in. Just because it's been hard to see sometimes when you're illustrating on top of a further and no way around and I think they roll filled in. But she's literally, and that's a beautiful simple little verse that we'd go up there. And you can know that it's a vector and you drawn to it and it's a good II can hold shift and scale it up, scale it down where if you want to move it around. And that's a really good way to finish off the illustration. And yeah, third up next we'll go through how you can add some final flare and details and we'll finish it. Finishing touches to your work on that will really help it stand out and keep it nice and consistent with your branding and your personality. Yeah, and if you want to watch the detailed coloring in section now, feel free. You will come to your yep. Play you in the next one.
6. Detailed Outlines: Okay, so we've done the simple lines and now we're going to add detail binds onto the already existing simple outline of the illustration. So what we're gonna do is I'm just going to continue on from where I was out on the simple illustration so that we don't have to draw the whole thing again. So basically when you try and do a detailed illustration, what you want to look for is the minor changes in light in color in that whole sort of thing. You can add these sort of faint in the flower if you want, you don't have to, but just kind of adding that extra little flair in detail and precision to your potluck can make it really interesting and really fun. So we're gonna do that now. It's going to be pretty fun. I'm just going to go through and add details. I can just make sure all your lines are overlapping and yet go ahead and start drawing there. Yes. So you have this kind of like this yellow color here. We're just going to go and kind of add some little details of that. Unlike the dark red compared to the orangey red capitulations, pinkish color. It's going to go through and add as much detail as I could possibly see. And yeah, just making it as detailed as you want. You don't have to go ham on this. You didn't have to go crazy, but it's just fun to kinda play around. See what you can make. Ok. Ok, so I'm pretty happy with how the detailed illustrations looking at looks really cool. And I think that's going to look really nice, but it's colored it. So we'll just go on to the next lesson to color it in CR, gold job here is now to go ahead and add all your detailed lines onto those simple lines. Irritate true and yet just feel free to add the learn you want. You can add things that don't exist. You can't get rid of things that do exist that you don't want the thought here, it's your autistic expression, so yep, looks scary colored in.
7. Detailed Colour: I made a mistake and I accidentally deleted the footage of me talking through this whole detailed color section. But luckily I was able to find the footage of me actually doing the coloring in on my laptop. So that's lucky. So I'm just gonna walk you through basically what I'm doing. So I just grabbed the Pen tool, which is P on people, and drawing the same line at the bottom, overlapping all the excess lines that we drew before at the very bottom of the page. So you're now I'm going to select everything and press Control L x, like we did in the simple coloring part. Where you can go objection. Lies paint and then make and that'll do the same thing. But since it is already a lie finger, if it's not letting me make IT again. With this one, we're just going to literally do the same thing as we did for the simple illustration. Just easing the eyedropper tool well-timed basically. So see the one we did here. Yep. We use the second one we made with the pellet. But this one, since it's so detailed, We're not going to use a palette, although we will be able to touch it up later on. And that'll be really helpful and, and make it look really nice. Young showing you that I don't like to think of it, but we can fix that up. It is the power of digital art. Sir. Yeah, I'm just gonna speak through me, coloring everything and just literally using the eyedropper tool. For a more in-depth tutorial on that thought. Just head over to the simple coloring in section to get some more info on that one. But yeah, and I'm just going to literally h section, grab a new color using the eyedropper and just literally just fill it in. That's simple. Do stick around there because at the end I will show you how to like touch it up and stuff than I did find the footage of me doing that. So don't worry about like skipping is less than he can still watch it and then still valuable insights. But yeah, that's the actual part of me talking through this whole coloring and section when I lost. Yeah. I'm just like okay, my black arrow tool and select everything. Make sure your stroke is off. And that's why I selected them the best those, but I've turned it off, off camera biotin. Tonight. Start just by going stroke. None are easy. And I can see, but there's some calls and I want to fix both first, I'm gonna make sure those are holes in the outlet because that's not fun to have a better bottom lab. And yeah, I've missed a couple of so that's fine. I'll just fill those in now. So I've got those filled in and kind of wanting to change this pink color because I'm not really a huge fan of it and kind of messing with me a little bit. So I'm going to select a nice light color from the artwork and using the eye dropper tool, press k and then go back. And that's not allowed. And start to kind of fill it in as the oranges kind of fellows that were going full in his outward. And yeah. So I'm just going to make my renowned and just kind of stop filling it in to be a more orangey turn. And if Nicol and it's not bad, just feel free to just pick up a coffee and choose one that you think might work better. And Sales for nasa. So let's look at what nicer At the moment. I definitely think it looks a lot cleaner, get more vibrant, fit, more put together, you know, sir, that's just like a really easy way to just go through and alter some of the codes, make sure they were all looking Nesson a cohesive. Never want anything sticking out too far and looking at it crazy to see these kind of greyish turns. I'm going to try and edit them a bit to get some that's a war trends going on. And that's looking really good. Puts no, an island. Okay, cool. So that's something really nice. And I really liking the weights coming out and yeah, so yeah, feel free to do collars TOP now and add it to the class. Projects polar, once you've added all your colors and kinda wet them out and make them nice, thin, cohesive and together. Yeah, I'd love to see what you come up with. And next lesson we're going to be running how to add some texture and some sort of backgrounds and things like that. So stay tuned.
8. Adding Texture + Touchups: Okay, so we're now going to add some background and some texts. So let's get all t after each other. Background is press M on the keyboard and just draw a little square. And then press control shift and then the left square bracket. And I'll put it to the back. And yeah, so you can just play around with the color that you want. Whatever you like, whatever makes you feel happy. But think of a bit harsh on this flowered Scott. Sorry. It's kind of covering it up. So I've just got my little library skill. Might just choose a nice little warm turned background. Find the color of the internet interest, whatever he wants really achieved. Berg and press Alt and drag. And we've got two backgrounds now it just looks really cool, but it is a simple one and the detailed one. And yeah, that's pretty much it for do for background if you want to add some graphics. So something feel free, can make maybe some styles or something, say discrediting the Rectangle tool and press the star tool. You can just Thanks instars, flaming town at say one of them to be like really subtly in the background, but like really pretty as well. And then press Alt, drag and cross. Then press with this one selected press Control D. And I will just repeat the corrals. And then you can do the same thing. Select various drawing. And then down. Again, might just fruit flies as well. And I'll go to aids ones. And then now we should be able to approve. Sorry, sir, have them over verbs might be easier. Alt, drag. And then just press control v to get the normal ideal. If you grab all of these ones preventable by control G, center, center. That's going to work. And to the back. And then I'm grateful, Oh, I think I've got the flower selected in that group. So what I'm gonna do is I'm just gonna grab it and just ran to the front. So it looks like a nice, cute little star background in press control shift j. Just because I put that one into. So you know, I put forward these guns and then you can change the capacity to make them a bit more. So I would say that I don't know. Yeah. Just play around with it, see what you like. But steadily cold. I'm just going to delete those because I just wanted to be a point micro. Ok. So those are all gone. You can play with them as you please have them however you want to give you my love. I'll tell something if you wanted to. So now I'm gonna show you how to add some texture to the outlook and then we're gonna wrap up and be done. Alright, sir, first enemy Kp over m is going to make a rectangle on top of everything. Do to do here. Double-click on the film and we're going to fill it with 50% blacks. And 0% everything else. So that'll get us like halfway to gray, pretty much like a very neutral gray. And I'm just going to duplicate that approvals. So I've got two gray rectangles covering our Allah immaculate. Damn, wet the ocher. It's fine. Sir. My deselect birth and open up Wynder and then transparency. And now we're going to select. And basically it just fertilize it. It's just pretty much the same cause I'm an eighth. Yes. So now I'm just going to go up to your effect with the gray rectangle selected. You can tell the gray one Bybi is little thing here. It's just a bracelet. And we're gonna go to texture and texture rise up. And this sounds like some really cool types, just heroic holder, they are pretty subtle. Sir. Yeah. If you have any other programs are going right now, I'd probably suggest you shut them down while you do this because Photoshop effects take up a lot of computer power, sorry, texts rise up. You can see this cool like texture. The, We'd go, going on here. And I really like it and also go grain or jake tiles, all these cool things that you can add. I like the texture, either one, because it's just keeps it interesting. And scaling is pretty high relief that kinda unselect contrast. Much. It's up about 20 about and which skirt? Okay. And because it might take a little while to add theft extra If it doesn't do it instilling Dory DeVos, it'll be fine to sometimes takes a little while because it is quite a heavy effected is quite demanding on the computer. It doesn't want, feel free to just like Urban your further off in discard KM or something like that to additive noise out of it. A grain might help with putting some texture to it. Sorry, this one. You can see it's kind of lightened up the colors which I'm not mad about. It's pretty, pretty nice. And yeah, you see, when you zoom in, it's got this really cool effect. It's kind of a quick paper almost. And that's one really nice thing to have on your illustrations. So I can not phantom thoughtless. You don't really want to worry about you. Computers power. I'm going to select an element on this one and, or affect texture and grain. And then we're going to add this grain. Yeah, and it's really cool effects that you can do affect texture grain. And I'm just going to make the intensity really neutral not to bake marijuana have too much contrast because that'll make it look crazy. And you can change the grain type islet sprinkles just because it's a queue name and it's nice to just add sprinkles. It's kinda keeps that mold monitoring that doesn't make it too intense, which I like Sager. Okay, so I've got intensity 50 and contrast 14, and I'm just gonna press OK and wait for it to do the application, the grain. And when that's ready, you will be able to look at it, right? You can see there it's added like the graining Texthelp. It's all peaks later when Museum in. But yeah, that's kinda like for texture that it adds become only tell from far away but from cosa below critical. And if it's too small of a texture, you can always just make it a bit. Say, yeah, I have a plane with the Photoshop effects that you can add, just using the 50% gray square and putting it on our ballet on the transparency Linder. And yeah, just see what you can do to see what you like. And I'd love to save your work with and without text GBP ten. Just, Oh, you're gonna do to do that is really not so that it's not take forever. Shift arc will bring up the opcode tool, press Alt and drag. And that'll create another op board with your illustration. So you can add texture to this one, play around NCBI like. And then you've also got the original that you don't have to worry about losing anything on changing anything or anyone else. They're just going to delete that APA loop. There is one thing. And yeah, so now I'll show you how to exploit its really easy takes like 1 second. So we'll just do a Control Alt E to export. You can name this sort of simple illustration, detailed illustration, and whatever you want. And we'll choose a folder. Mine's just in the botanical illustration folder of his class. I will make it just 1X is fine. That started with all good. If you want to create like a bunch of different versions, say like one that's scaled up two times, one that's scaled like 0.5. times. Go free to buy. Don't really do that. I don't really worry about subfolders or making lots of different versions. You really need to, of course, for freight, but for the sake of this one, I'm just gonna go export upward. And that'll save it as PE and G will be good together and we will open it up. And actually yes, sir, it downloaded just the simple one because I didn't press the little tick box Hill. So just make sure that all the ones that you want on tape, but you probably will just have to say it should be export compliance. That's fun. And yeah, this is the final output and I hope you enjoyed this class. I'll see you in the middle conclusion, but yet GR add some texture occur at it to the project death alert. And I'd like to see what you create.
