1. Introduction: Hi, my name is Vasjen Katro, I'm a graphic designer. In this class, I'm going to show you how to create these exact poster. I've been sharing a few classes here in Skillshare based on my project called Baugasm, where I design a poster every day for one year. I've been sharing this posters on Instagram. I will leave a link on the description below so you can go and check it out. I design a poster everyday, and my challenge is to do this for one year. I also have been sharing a few classes here in Skillshare, on teaching you how I make this posters and a few of the tools and techniques I use to create these posters. I've had many requests from people in Instagram on how I create these effect. Basically, in this class, I'm going to show you how you can make these colors and how you can use Adobe Photoshop and Cinema 4D to create something similar to this. I think it's going to be fun and you're going to learn a lot about the tools and this technique. Make sure to enroll below, and see you on the class.
2. C4D Spline: Hey, welcome back everybody. As I've mentioned before the two programs we're going to use for this tutorial are Cinema 4D and Adobe Photoshop. As I also do on these Baugasm Series, sometimes I'm pretty sure and it's straight forward what I want to achieve. But for this case, I'm just going to go experimental. I have something in mind and there is a technique I'm going to show you, but as the end result, I'm not pretty sure what we're going to end up doing. I think this is more creative and more going through my process while I designed the posters for Baugas. I'm going to show you a full process on how I do this, and same time the technique I'm going to show you is something that I usually use on my posters. I'm just going to show you the technique, and the style, and the tools to create some really nice, glowing, decent techniques and objects. First we're going to start with Cinema 4D, and here I am, I have opened Cinema 4D. The first thing we need to check is the Render Settings. I have made a big file, 8,000 pixel by 6,000 so make sure you have a really high document size because we really need to export these in a really good resolution. Let's get started. First of all, what I'm thinking is that I want to have an object, a spline, a line around where I can add some elements to it. I'm just going to start with may be a helix. A helix might be a good start, so I'm just going to go a little bit far. I'm going to make these helix big. If you going to far, and let's go a little bit far. What I want to do is that, I want to fill all these circle a helix effect with something which is going to be deformed and same time, we are going to apply a really nice texture to it. But we could do this with a cloth, but I want to apply something else. I have learned from Grayscalegorilla, and let's give it a try. The next thing we want to add is a capsule. Let's make sure the capsule may be is Y. Let's make the orientation is plus X, and let's bring this down. Now what we're going to use is this Spline Wrap, and apply the Spline Wrap below the capsule. But nothing happens right now, so what we want to do is add this helix. The capsule is basically going to feel like it's going to be a repeating object around that helix line we created. What we're going to do is that attach the spline wrap with the helix, so it's going to take the path of the helix and the capsule itself. It's going to be the one who is going to wrap around that. I don't know how clear I'm on that but, you got to the spline and then get the helix and just drag and drop it here. As you can see that capsule failed the width and the stroke of that line. What we want to do now is that, we can go to the capsule and increase the height segments and cap segments and so on. But let's leave it like that because the Subdivision Surface is going to do that for us. Let's go here and apply the whole thing in here. As you can see right now, the whole thing is smoothed around and looks smoother so we don't have to go and do any changes to the capsule itself. May be we can play around with some Subdivision Editor or Render, but you can even go to the capsule and also adjust this. But personally, I would just leave it like that. May be we can play with height. But what we want to do now as something that it's going to go and deform the whole thing, it's called the Jiggle. We're going to apply the Jiggle under the Capsule. What the Jiggle is going to do, is going to make the whole thing deformed, but now you cannot see anything. Let's try it quick to render this. Nothing is going to happen because Jiggle effect needs a force, needs something to make this move. As on the previous class I may add on clophing effect that it needs to fall. In this case, we need to apply something like particles and maybe we're going to apply some turbulence. When you go to the Jiggle effect, here we have Forces, we're going to just drag and drop the Turbulence. If you press ''Play'', nothing happens. Let's see. Nothing is happening. I think the reason for that is because on the Turbulence we need to set this strength really high. I'm going to put 2,000, and let's give it a try now. Wow, this is crazy. May be I'm going to go 1,000. It's still crazy, but I like that. The whole thing is that you can zoom to this and get this effect, but if you go to the Jiggle, you got to Basics here. The strength we're going to leave it big as much as you increase the stiffness, it's going to move let's see. Let's put Structural down. Let's put Drag down. This is crazy right now. I'm just going to leave it here for now. What we want to do is that, we want to apply a texture to the whole thing. One way of doing this is that we're not really going to apply a texture to this immediately to the whole object, but we're going to create a sky effect. But for this, I'm going to show you on the next video. See you.
3. Adding texture materials: Hey, welcome back. As I mentioned before we need to apply some texture to the object we created and as you can see, this thing is going to play and you can stop it in any point where you really like it but let's create a texture. We're going to go and add new material, double-tap. We're going to switch off the color and we want luminance so let's take this off for now. On the luminance we want to add actually, we can play with colors and stuff like that, but what I want to add in here is actually an image. For this, I'm just going to go desktop and there's graphic pack. This pack you can see it on biogas website is resource pack, it's for free, but sometime you can purchase it with a few extra elements in that but I'm just going to use the paintings. Basically are these images where I have these like abstract painting color effect. For this, I'm going to use this image. As you can see, the luminance took as a color so it's going to illuminate. I don't know how to say that, but like the texture and just apply it to that. Let us also learn some reflectance and just going to leave it as this for now. Basically, we have this texture. I could apply it immediately to the object. Let's quickly render this. It already looks pretty cool. But what I want to do is like I want to have more details into that. I'm not really going to have it immediately applied to the object, just going to go and do. But I'm just going to go and create like sky. It's like a real sky. I'm going to apply this texture to that. As you can see, this is like the object in the middle and everything around it is the sky with the texture that I already applied. Another thing I want to do is like creating new material, and this material is going to be the one I'm going to use on the object. What I want object to be, I want you to have it transparent, but also to reflect some light and to have some glowing effect. Everything that is surrounded by the sky, this is going to reflect it and create that nice, I don't know transparent, like water glass effect. I'm going to take the color off. I'm just going to keep transparent manner. As you can see, this is nothing. I'm just going to go on custom and maybe going to choose oil. We have some lighting there, and let's apply this to object and render. This is a quick render. This is going to take some time to render after all. But as you can see, that object it's reflecting the surrounding, in this case the sky. But as you can see, we also see the sky on the background. We want to isolate the whole object and have no sky at all, like no background. The way to do that it's simple. This is nice and this is not even the good quality, is just a quick render. Let's go back. What do we want to do right now is that we want just to remove the background so it doesn't appear on our final render. The way to do that is to go to the sky object, right click and go to cinema 4D tags, and go to compositing. Then in the options down here, you have these checked saying seen by camera, but we don't want that. As you can see it removed the sky. Let's try that again. But the thing is that after you do that, it's not seen by the camera when we renderd this, but still the object is there and everything it reflects, it's going to be reflected in our object. Let's try to quick render this. Here it is. You can see that the effect is like the reflecting sky is applied to the object. That's what we wanted to achieve. But in this case let's play around with the, I don't know like the effect of the whole thing. But in order to see what we are doing here, I'm just going to change the texture of the whole object. I'm going to apply the sky texture. Let's see what we are doing here. Let's go to the jiggle effect or maybe to the capsule and increase the size. That's crazy. Let's play this. It's becoming bigger. As I said before, I'm just experimenting with this. I don't know where I'm going to end up. I'm just showing you the technique. You can play as much as you want with these. You can make crazy stuff with that. I think I really like this. I'm just going to stop here and maybe now remove the texture I applied to the capsule and leave only the transparent one. Let's play a little bit and let's quick render this. As you can see, just by playing a little bit with a capsule, I changed the width of the whole spline. You can play around with these as much as you want. You can even make like, I don't know, like cube and apply the sky with a transparent effect and you can come up with really nice effects. But for this case, I'm just wanted to show you this technique. You can even use a different texture for the sky and come up with really cool stuff. I'm just going to go and render the whole thing. I think I'm happy with this, but in order to get really good quality of this, I'm just going to zoom right here. Let's see how this looks. Maybe from a different perspective. Here. Maybe zoom out. What if I want to render this in here? I know it's going to take some time. But I think I'm going to use this image and then move this to Photoshop and play there around which some lightning and built up the poster from what we get here on Cinema 4D. I hope you learn something on cinema 4D because the next video, we're going to jump and work these on Photoshop. I'm going to let this render and then import these two Photoshop. See you on the next video.
4. Edit in Photoshop: Hey, welcome back. As you can see, this is the final export and final render from Cinema 4D. You can see that looks pretty good and actually it's like really big file. You see this part here that I really love. So basically, what we're going to do is get this and import it in Photoshop. Let's look. Let's try it out. I just opened this in Photoshop. I keep Alt pressed and unlock this layer. Now, what I want to do is I want to remove the black parts, so I'm just grabbing the selection tool and I'm just going to do this. For what I'm going to do. I don't really care if this part gets removed. You can even export it from Cinema 4D in like PNG format that is completely transparent. In this case, I'm just going to use this tool. I'm going to select this all and copy. I had this template that I've been using for Baugasm projects. Oops, that was too big. I'm going to import that in here. So I'm going to go back to spline, render, copy, and paste in here. As you can see this is really big, but I'm going to go a bit bigger. So I'm going to make it somewhere here. I like this part. As you can see, right now the colors are not that bright and are a bit faded. So what I want to do is go to "Image" and then play with "Hue and Saturation." I think here looks cool. You can even play with the hue and come up with different colors. I'm liking this part, but I like it in here. You can even get this duplicated and add another part. I think you can do so many stuff with this. As part of this tutorial, I'm just going to leave it here. Maybe play a little bit with background. Let's try making it white. Maybe that kind of gives more contrast to the colors. Actually, let's play a little bit more with colors. Maybe some white here. I don't know, I like them all. I think I'm going to stick with this. Something else you can do when you have this kind of texture, you can go to "Filter" and "Liquify," it's going to open the whole project. I just select the, I don't know how this is called, warp tool and drag this around so I can create more. Be careful with this because you can lose quality by doing this. So I'm just going to go back and maybe just move it a little bit like this so it's more not so perfect as a circle, so let's see. Maybe not, I like it where it was. Something else you can do is that you can go and grab the polygonal lasso tool and come here and select some part of this. This is actually the first time I'm doing this kind of effect, but I just thought I would give it a try. Then after you've done that, you can press Command or Control J, and duplicate that. If I remove, I can see this kind of thing. If we keep repeating that, we're going to come up with something nice. So let's grab this part in here. Let's grab another part. I pressed Command J again there to duplicate the whole thing. So I'm just going to grab this part, Command J to duplicate, and I'm going to keep doing this. So maybe I go over here. Let's see what we're going to end up doing. As I said before, this is totally something I'm experimenting with. I don't know the end product. Maybe change the background, make it somewhere darker. Let's see if I move this stuff. You can do that. You can play as much as you want with that. That was a different approach to this. I'm going to stick to this. Maybe I'm just going to go with this color here. I like this touch. Maybe somewhere here. We can leave it here. I like the background to be darker. Maybe here, I don't know, I can't decide, I can go four hours doing this thing. So hopefully, you learned something from how you can do this thing in Cinema 4D and then import it in Photoshop. Here, you can play and create as many stuff as you want. Even in Cinema 4D, you can play around and do different shapes. You cannot even use a helix that we use. You can use the pen tool and creative and a text and other stuff. So hopefully, you learned something through this class. I'm going to process and add a few more things on this. I might need some more time to think about it. Basically, this was what I wanted to share with all of you, and this technique. Hopefully, I taught you something and something new to experiment with. So see you on the next video where probably I have finished this and I'm happy with it. So see you soon.
5. Conclusion: Hey, welcome back. So here I am, and I worked around with what I had before. As I said, I needed some time to play around and come up with something that I really like. Here I'm going to show you what I basically did. So I created like a dark, not dark like bright blue background, but with some gradient from lighter blue to at the bottom that is darker, and then duplicated that layer and put it somewhere here, and then duplicate it again and put it more down. I also made like a dark circle in the middle, and then I went back to the spline render, I exported from Cinema 4D. I copied this together with a black background, different what I did before, and I paste it in here and I changed the blending mode from normal, that was like this, to screen. What I really like about this is that it gives this effect that like the whole 3D thing is more like a theme paper and has these reflections that are the colors and like looks pretty cool if you put it like on a bright blue and then you have like contrasts circling the middle, kind of pops up more of the colors, and something else I added to these are just some text. You can add more stuff. I'm happy with it, and I'm going to share this today on bogas Instagram. So yeah, hopefully you learned something from all the technique. You can go crazy and play around with more stuff, different colors, different texture on Cinema 4D, and different shapes. So I'm really looking forward to see what you guys are going to end up making, and I really encourage you to share what you are doing in the project section because I would really like to see if you guys take it on a step forward, and I'm also there to help you and give you some feedback on this. So yeah, this has been fun. Thanks for watching the class, and I hope to see you soon on the next video. So until then, have fun and be creative. Bye.
