1. Introduction and Supplies You Will Need: Hi friends, how are you? I hope you're having a great day today. I'm excited about sharing this project with you. This is a drawing and watercolor painting project that I designed, especially for kids. You do not need to have any drawing or painting experience at all to be successful with this project, I will guide you step-by-step through all the steps that you need to take. Today, we are going to be creating this cute little duckling. Let's talk about the supplies and the materials that you will need for this project. The first thing that you'll need is a piece of watercolor paper. You will need a set of watercolor paints and a paintbrush. You will need some clean water in a bowl or a cup. You will need a black oil pastel or a black crayon and a paper towel. Go ahead and gather all of those supplies and materials. And I'll see you back here in the next video. 2. Step 1: Draw a Ducking Design: In this step we are going to draw our design. So let's get started. The first thing that you'll want to do is pick up your black oil pastel or your black crayon. We're going to make a circle towards the top of our piece of paper. It's going to be pretty large but not giant. Remember, we need to leave a little bit of space at the top for our ducklings feathers that stick out on the top. But other than that, we're just going to make our circle about right here. So let's go ahead and do that. Let me show you how large I'm going to make my circle about. This large circle might not look exactly like mine. And that's okay. Circles are actually pretty challenging to make. I've had a lot of practice. Alright, now that we have our circle for our head, for our duckling, we're going to add some feathers at the top. And those are just some curved lines. Curved line coming up, coming down, coming up, coming down, coming up and coming down. Almost looks like a little crown, doesn't it? All right. Now we're going to move to the inside of the ducklings face so that we can make some features. Let's make some eyes. I'm just going to make some wide set eyes. White set means that on the shape they're going to be far apart. And then right here in the middle, I'm going to make a line that looks like this. Down, a little up. And then down. That's going to be the top of our ducts bill. Now we're going to make another line coming down and then back up. It's almost like a U, but it has a little bit of a point to it. Then we're going to make a little line that goes from corner to corner. Let's give him some small nostril so he can smell. All right, look at how cute that is. That's our ducklings face. Let's go ahead and make the body of our duckling. What we're going to do is start on the left side, underneath the doc links face. We're going to make a straight line down. Then we're going to go to the other side and do the same thing. Now we're going to close those two lines up at the bottom. And this is going to be the bottom of our duck lane. Keeping in mind that this is a cartoon, so a real duckling body will not look exactly like this. Let's make some wings. So we're going to make a curved line like this and then come back up. Then on this side we'll do the same. Alright, now we're going to make his feet down here at the bottom. We make two straight lines. Then we're going to make some slanted lines coming out. Then some curved lines for his little webbed feet. Then we're going to do the same thing on this side. Two lines down to slanted lines, then curved lines going across. All right, now that, oh, whoops, I forgot his tail. So let's make a little tail sticking out from the back. There we go. If you want to make your tail over on this side, you can do that as well. All right, so now that our duckling is finished, what we're going to do is we are going to create a background for our duckling. This duckling is going to be holding a flower. So you get to decide if you'd like your flower on the left side of the duckling or the right. I'm going to choose the right side because I have a little bit more space over here. So that's what I'm going to do. But if you'd like to make your flower over here on the left, go ahead and do that. Pretty close to the head of our duckling. We're going to make a circle. Then we're going to make some petals around that circle. That's going to be our flower. Then. Now let's make a stem. So we come down because they're duckling is going to be holding our flower. So we made a stem with curved lines coming down. And then let's make some little lines coming out the bottom two. It looks like our duckling is holding this cute flower. Alright, so that's part of our background, the flower. Then what we're going to do next is make something for our duckling to be standing on. So let's make the ground. We're going to come across, jump over that foot, jump over that foot, and then come out the other side. So it looks like our duckling is standing on the ground. Now, you get to get creative with this part. You can put some different flowers or you can put some little bits of grass or leaves. It's completely up to you. I think what I'm going to do is just make some grass still a little bit of grass on the ground. Some over here. I'm not sure if you can see that on the video. I think you can and maybe even some grass right here. There we go. Then if you'd like to make something in the sky, you can go ahead and do that. I'm going to make a couple of clouds. This is how I like to make big fluffy clouds. Put one there and maybe you went over here. Those are my clouds. If there's anything else that you'd like to add to your artwork, you can go ahead and do that. Maybe what I will do is I will make a little a rock or something right here in the corner to, to fill in this space a little bit. Actually, here's a little space too. I think I'm going to put another cloud here, smaller cloud. We go I'm really happy with my drawing. So go ahead and finish filling in your spaces as you like. And when we come back, we will start painting our design. 3. Step 2: Paint the Design: In this step, we are going to start painting our design. So let's get started. First thing that we're going to do is we are going to add one or two drops of water to each pan of paint. And what this will do is it will soften up the paint a little bit so it's easier for us to use. I highly suggest that you do that. You add one or two drops of water to your pants. Now that our paints are softening up, Let's turn our attention to our design. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to paint my duckling yellow. And then maybe the grass green and the sky blue and the flower. I'm not sure, maybe pink and orange. I loved flowers that are pink and orange. So it's up to you the colors that you'd like to use. Get creative with your artwork. This is your artwork. You get to do what you'd like to do. I'm going to start with my yellow because that's the lightest color. And I'm just going to start painting. What I'm going to do is I am going to speed up this video. You can watch me speed paint. I'm not going to really be speed painting in real life. I am going to just be painting at normal speed because I like to do my best. Or it looks like I'm painting very, very quickly. Already friends. I'm finished painting my duckling design. I'm really happy with it. I hope that you had a lot of fun with this project. I will see you next time.
