1. Introduction and Supplies You Will Need: Hi friends, how are you? I hope you're having a really great day today. I'd like to introduce you to this project. This is a drawing and painting project, and it is a little bunny skating on a lake on the ice. And we have a snowy background. Designing this project, especially for kids. You do not need to have any drawing or painting experience at all to be successful with this project. I will take you step-by-step through all the steps that you need to take. So you will feel comfortable at all times. Let's go for this applies in the materials that you will need for this project. The first thing that you'll need is a piece of watercolor paper. You will need some watercolor paints and some clean water in a bowl or a cup. You will need a paper towel and a black crayon. You will need a large paintbrush like this. And a smaller paintbrush maybe about this size. If you don't have exactly the sizes, that's okay, just use what you have available to you. You will need some white paint. I'm going to be using tempera paint in this project, but you can certainly use poster paints or acrylic paints. Just use what you have available to you and then you'll need a pallet to put your paints on. I just like to use a small paper plate. So go ahead and gather all of those supplies and materials. And I'll see you back here in the next video. 2. Step 1: Draw a Skating Bunny Design: In this step we are going to draw a skating bunny rabbits. So let's get started. The first thing that you'll want to do is pick up your black crayon. And we're going to go about halfway down on a piece of paper. So right in the middle here, we're going to move a little bit to the left. That's where we're going to draw our bunny right here in this area. And our bunny is going to be skating in this area. On this side, we're going to create a tree, which we will do later. So let's start by going to the middle of our piece of paper. And the first thing that we're going to do is we're going to make a circle. Make sure it's not too tiny but not too huge. That's going to be our bunny's head. So this bunnies ears are going to be a little bit off to the right side because he is going to be skating this way. Alright, so let me show you what I mean. So bunnies ears are pretty long and tall, right? So we're going to make some really long letter US and they're going to be closer to the, to the right side than the left side. All right. Now we're going to put a little bit of detail inside of those years. And now we're going to make a face. And because the bunny is facing this way, we're going to put his right eye over here very close to or right on top of the line that you made for his head. And then we're going to move over a little bit and make the other eye right here, his left eye. And then we're going to make his or her nose and a little mouth. And if you'd like to put some whiskers on, you can go ahead and do that as well. So you can see that bunny, it looks like here she's turning this way. Alright, so now we're going to come down here. And let's put a little scarf on her bunny. So just a line down over and backup. And because our bunnies going to be skating this way, the wind is going to be carrying her scarf this way. So let's make two lines coming out and maybe some fringe. Now let's make the body of our bunny. So bunny bodies are different shapes, so just make it any shape that you like. And now what we're going to do is we're going to make some skates down here at the bottom. So the way that I like to make skates Is this. It just kinda look like legs and little feet like this. So that's 12. And then down here at the bottom and we're going to make a curved line. And then it's going straight, curved line going straight, and then two lines coming down like that. So it looks like he or she has some little skates on. Now let's make some little arms for our bunny, and this helps with balance. So we're just going to make a U-shape to the side coming out from this line and then maybe another arm coming down like this. And then if you want to put some little lines right here to show his little toes, his or her little toes. And then if you want to put a circle here, you can go ahead and do that. That'll show the tummy. That's just if you want to, sometimes I like to add that. It just gives a little bit more detail. All right, so now we have our bunny. And what we're going to do now is we're going to draw a straight line coming across our piece of paper, but we're not going to go through our bunny. It's going to go like this and it doesn't have to be perfectly straight because we want it to look like it's the ground. This will be the line that divides the ice that the funny is skating on from the sky. And remember, we will be creating a tree right here on this side of our piece of paper on the right side. So we're not going to be drawing anymore. So in the next step, what we're going to do is we're going to paint our background. And I will see you in the next video. 3. Step 2: Paint the Design With Watercolor Paints: In this step we are going to be applying some watercolor paints to our piece of paper. So let's get started. The first thing that we're going to do is we're going to prepare our paints. And the way that we do that is we add a drop or two of water to each pan of paint. And what that will do is it will dissolve the paint a little bit, and it makes it much easier for us to use. So it's important to go ahead and take a minute to do that. Now, let's turn our attention to our drawing. So what we're going to do now is we are going to paint our eyes. And I like to use a really light color blue for that. And then the background sky. And then we might even apply some paint to a few areas on our bunny, our body is going to stay white because it's a snow bunny. But we can add a little bit of color to the ears, to the nose, to the scarf, maybe even to the tummy if you want to. All right. So I think my paint is ready and what I'm going to do first is I'm going to start out a really, really light blue, meaning I am going to make it so light that you might not even be able to tell that it's blue, but I think that I will. So I'm going to paint my eyes are really, really light blue. Because when you look at eyes on a lake, sometimes it has that blue tinge to it. So I'm going to just take a moment to do that. After I'm finished painting my eyes, I'm going to move onto my sky and I'm going to make it the same color, blue, but I'm going to make it a darker shade. So I'm going to make it a pretty dark and vibrant color here. So I'm adding more paint and less water. If you want your blue or any other color to be really light, you add more water. If you want it to be darker, you add more paint. Little bit darker. Right? So I'm just going to go ahead and do bad. Already friends. I'm finished with the background and now I'm going to work on my little bunny. I'm going to add some pink here and add some water because I want my pink to be pretty light. And then I'm just going to add it to my bunny bunnies ears, my bunnies nose, and my bunnies. Tommy. And then I'm going to add some color to this scarf of my bunny, who I think I'll use a purple. There we go. So what we're going to do next is we're going to allow the background to dry for just about 10 minutes. And when we come back, we will be able to paint a tree and some snowflakes in the background. So I'll see you back here in the next video. 4. Step 3: Add Details to the Background: In this step, we are going to paint some details in our background. We're going to paint a white tree right here because it is the wintertime. And then we're also going to paint some snowflakes. So you're want to use your smaller paintbrush for this part of our lesson. Alright, let's pay our tree first. So we're going to start the trunk of our tree right above this line right here. This is the line that separates the sky from the ice. And what we're going to do is we're going to make a tree right here. I'm going to show you how I make a tree, but you can make any tree that you'd like. Remember this is winter time, so this tree does not have any leaves on it, okay? This is the type of tree that loses its leaves in the winter. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to make sure that my paintbrush is continuously loaded with my white paint. And I'm just going to start painting a trunk. And I'm going to fill it in as I go. And it will be pretty light depending on the type of paint that you have. And then I'm going to go off and I'm just going to start making branches. Hope that you can see this. You might have to go over your lines, your paint lines a few times to be able to see. It really depends on the type of paint that you have. If you have an acrylic paint, your paint might be a little bit darker, but I'm using a tempera. So it's a little bit lighter. A lot of kids use tempera. Alright, so this is what we're going to do. We're just going to make our tree, make it any way that you want. Make it with a lot of branches, are just a few branches. And remember when you are making a tree, the trunk is typically sicker than the actual branches. Okay. So make sure and you can go over and over it, make sure that that trunk is pretty thick so it can support all of those branches. So I'm going to take a moment to do that. All right, friends, I really like the way that my tree looks. And what I'm going to do now is I'm going to add some snowflakes to the background. And this type of snowflake that I'm going to add just is three lines that are intersecting in the center like this. That's my favorite type of snowflake to make and I'm not going to make a 100 of them. I'm going to make maybe 12 or so. And I am not going to put them in a straight line. I'm going to make sure that they're kind of spread out. Because when you look at snowflakes fall, you can notice that they don't fall in a straight line. They actually fall all over the place. Already friends, I'm finished. I think that my bunny is having a lot of fun out there skating in this snow. I hope that you enjoyed this project and I will see you next time.
