About This Class

Making an animated greeting card is a great way to practice animation techniques while cheering up someone you love.

Based on my 7 years as an animation professor, combined with 10+ years as a freelancer, I’ve developed an approachable method that ~meets you where you are~ in your animation journey.

I’ll start by showing you how I made my hand-drawn ‘I Miss You’ animation, step-by-step, and then we will make an animated greeting card together.

You can choose any phrase you like. You can stick with common salutations like 'Happy Birthday,' or 'Congratulations,' or you could choose something more intimate, like 'I Miss You.'

1. Animated Greeting Cards!: My name is Anne Beal, and I'm the animation artists. Welcome to my studio. Today I'm going to teach ou how to make an animated greeting card. Why make an animated greeting card? Well, I'll tell you. There are many ways you can show someone that you miss them, that you care, that you're happy for them. One really great way right now, especially is to send it to them digitally. What better way than to send a handmade thing. Basically anywhere on the internet. I'll teach you how to make an animated GIF out of your greeting card and an animated video. You don't need any experience in animation to make an animated greeting card. You also don't need fancy equipment. All you need is something that can capture or photograph your drawings. This could be a camera, a scanner, a tablet, or a phone. Once you've captured your drawings, you can import them into an editing program like Adobe After Effects, Premiere, iMovie, even Photoshop. If you are using an app on your phone or tablet such as Stop Motion Studio or Osnap, you can photograph, edit, and export your final animation all from within the app. In this class will focus on hand-drawn animation using traditional materials. I'll teach you in approachable method for making an animated greeting card using any material you like. your project in this class will be to create an animated greeting card with a phrase of your choice. You can decide what you want to say and who you want to send it to. I'll begin by taking you through my process of making this animated greeting card. Then we'll make one together. I can't wait to start working with you. Let's get started.
