1. Introduction: Artist in the 21st century, we must care about our future, as it is where we'll spend the rest of our time. Understanding AI is a part of that future. Adapting to changes empowers us to navigate the worldwind of technological advancements and not get replaced, but instead coexist with AI to create a better future. In this course, I'll teach you how to implement AI tools in your work. I'll discuss various types of AI that you can use in your practice, suggest alternatives and mention methods, how we can gain superpower by using these tools. Hey, there, I'm BalinaPfessional tis, and I'm here to banish your fears of incorporating AI into artistic toolkit. You know, AI can be used for more than just inspiration or writing. It's actually really handy for sketching, coloring or rendering through artwork. With so many AIs to choose from, the possibilities are truly endless. This course will showcase an example for fine artists, demonstrating the creation process of a painting. However, the same steps apply to almost all types of creatives, whether into logos, sculptures, or tapestries, or any other visual kind of work. This process can be a game changer over a year ago, I started experimenting with AI in my artwork creation process. And since then, I've gathered paable knowledge that I really want to share with you because understanding how to use AI can significantly enhance your artistic journey by making it more efficient and productive. I won't overwhelm you with complicated technical details. I'll write all resources if you want to delve deeper into this information, but let's focus on creation process. So if you're on board with me, I can't wait to have you join me in the next chapter. Looking forward to seeing you. 2. The State of AI: I like to talk briefly about the current state of AI before moving on to the creation process. When it comes to AI, one of the most significant issues is ethical considerations. Unfortunately, I'm not qualified enough to talk about these crucial and complex concerns. But I believe what we all need to remember when talking and using these technologies is that the data doesn't exist in a vacuum. It's created, maintained, and sustained, sorted out by humans. Now, the next important question to ask is where does AI gets its images. From what I learned, AI sped millions of written and visual content that it can reference when creating AI generated art. AI sources its images from various places, including public image collections, databases of artwork, and even photos taken by artists of their artwork. I won't dive deep into how AI works. But if you want to learn more about this topic, I'll leave all the resources down below. I considering all this, I still think that it's worthwhile for is to understand how AI work, what it does and its potential. Personally, I use AI, but with my own limitations. I don't go beyond the inspiration step, and I especially don't sell AI generated artwork. I simply incorporate it into my artistic process with minimal involvement. Additionally, I don't use any paid AI for now because I don't believe you need to spend extra money, especially if you're just testing the waters. While they provide value, they are not essential. I utilize as many free resources as possible. If you do decide to pay, ensure that the tool genuinely helps you work faster or generate better work and that you have return on investment to justify the cost. I don't want you to spend money on ten plus different DIS just because it's trendy right now. But for now, let's move on to the next chapter and start practicing with different DIS. 3. Generating Ideas with AI: This lesson will be using GBT every website that you can use after creating an account. Or if you don't have an access to GBT, you can use Microsoft DI. Chat Bing. As we all know, any artwork begins with an idea. It's the starting point of any creative endeavor. Personally, I usually skip using AI for this step because I have a bunch of verton and sketch tylee content in my sketchbook. So when I want to create something new, I usually just reference the stuff that I have in my sketchbook. Where I use other diation techniques like how Mi It's an diation technique from UIEs design process, but I still think it's really helpful when creating artwork as well. However, I have experimented with AI for ID generation too, and maybe this information will be useful in your practice. The first method involves asking CG BT to come up with some painting ideas. And I believe that most of you are probably familiar with the AI since it's currently one of the most popular ones out there. What's special here is that you can ask the chat to be specific to your art style, which sets it apart from other services online that create random art proms. For example, you can try this prompt. Hi, please come up with ten different ideas to paint with oil paints inspired by my name. Or switch it up with Hi, please come up with ten different ideas to paint objects that are blue. And you can make these prompts as specific as you wish. This technique can be a real life savior when you have an art block or when you feel stuck in your creative process. The second technique I used most often for new ideas involves creating a prompt for Dali. I'll tell you more about this AI in the next chapter. I then ask GBT to come up with more similar prompt. And here's the prompt I like a landscape of mountains and mist for pointed stars in a circle in the middle of a painting, a Turle surrounded by foliage painted by Joseph Stella. And you can ask AI, can you please create new ideas of art prompts for AI similar to this one. In Serto prompt. The new prompt should not drastically differ from the given example. And don't forget to add your prompt in quotation marks. I use these prompts to generate new and interesting ideas in Dali and to write better prompts for Dali. I make them detailed drawing inspiration from online resources. I'll leave this in the PDF guide. I also use Google's library to discover artists that AI can draw inspiration from. You can browse this library and discover artists that you like. If these artists are in Google's library, chances are AI can accurately capture their work. After all, AI doesn't know every artist in the world, including just the most popular ones. I experiment with different proms changing up the artist. This way, you can find the style you like, and then we use the prompt, only changing the main idea. Now you might wonder why I use that and Mid journey is considered the best AI for generating visual content. And well, you're right, but the simple reason is that the mid journey isn't free. And that's it. Here I have to make a note that, unfortunately, Dali two is being written off as there is its replacement Dali tree, and it's currently a paid version. But don't be discouraged as you can get free access to Dali tree using Bin chat or B image creator, which I mentioned earlier. To those of Dali tree are not as creative as those of Dali two, which is not very good for us is to create new ideas, but that is okay. And at the end of the day, I feel like the CT GBT is the most helpful at generating the written content. If you publish your artwork online, you can generate caption texts, descriptions, anything you like. You can ask how you can tweak your text or description caption title for your target audience, and you can even ask the chat to help you understand your target audience as well. So definitely try it out. And if J GBT doesn't work for you try using Microsoft Chad Pink is actually the J GBT four, which is the newer version of a chat. At least, again, at least for the moment I record this video, but everything can change, and both of these AIs are free for now, except that JGBT four is a paid version, but I don't use a paid version as well. I use only free version. 4. Creating Sketches with AI: Let's talk about the standard way of creating sketches, at least in my practice, which involves first vague sketches, creating some initial vague sketches of what you'd like to see. Second, contrast check, developing the variation of the sketch in black and white to analyze the contrast. Third, color exploration, making multiple variations of color options to choose the best one based on the chosen black and white sketch. For detailed sketch, creating a detailed sketch based on your chosen color option. Now, let's explore how we can implement the in these steps. For vague sketches, AI may not be necessary. But you can experiment with Del if you want to come up some interesting sketches if needed. When it comes to black and white sketches, unfortunately, I didn't find any dedicated AIs for this particular task. But again, Dali might be an option for experimentation. But there are four things you can do next. First, colorizing line sketches. You can use Patalca AI to colorize your line sketches. It's free and easy to use. But although it doesn't work for all art styles, I still think it's worth trying out. Second, composition and text. Next, you can try generating AI pictures based on your composition. And you can use play form if you want to try out this technique. It allows you to upload a line sketch or black and white sketch and describe details in a prompt, and you will get the rendered sketch inspired by your composition. As well, you can upload specific poses to control the generated AI pictures. Start, colorizing black and white sketches. The step will be helpful for those who create black and white sketches in the first place. Palate fM is an AI that can help you colorize black and white pictures. It provides various color options and it's free. But you'll need to create an account after generating five color options. And I think it's really fun to play around with. Four, rendering sketches. And the last one is from a.com for rendering sketches. You can experiment with different styles offered by the AI. It is user friendly, fast and offers 200 free monthly generated pictures, which is awesome. I've come across all these IIs myself. None of it was paid by any of these companies. And I don't always use all these AIs in my practice, but sometimes I like to just experiment with one or another AI that I suggested and just play around and see how I can improve my work. Because I think sometimes when you try to use all of IS and all the steps that I suggested, it can be a little bit overwhelming, but it really doesn't have to be. It's supposed to be a fun and creative process. But yes, you can use EIs to experiment with different sketches, different color options and see how your sketch can look in more detail or in different colors. And you can even upload the finished drawing and check what AI can suggest to you as well. Now that we have sketches, we need to start working on the artwork. So let's move on to the next chapter. 5. AI Techniques for Painting Enhancement: Right now, we don't have any AI that can create an artwork or paint a painting for us. We'll have to do it ourselves. But AI can help us improve our artwork. This method of using AI is my favorite, and I truly believe any artists could benefit from trying it out. When you feel stuck with your work or when you think that you're almost finished with your painting, take a picture of your work and a good lighting and run it through AI. I'll offer you options on how your painting could look completely finished or tweaked a bit, so it looks better. My GTu which is super convenient, is using an app on my phone. I prefer the MTU app. It not only helps me edit my photos, but also lets me upload the picture and convert it into four different AI generated pictures. It does not resemble my R style, but I still like how AI presents me with various color options and potential results. Plus, I save the extra time because I don't need to transport the photo to my computer. Actually tested other options too. And I would recommend playing around with HAI. All you need is to create an account and you can generate 100 pictures for free each month. I think it's more than enough, and you have control over how you want the picture to look, playing with different settings until you find the one you like. Personally, I think it's a bit excessive and overwhelming and as well, time consuming unless you're aiming for something really specific Now I can share with you a really unique AI technique that you can use and incorporate into your creation process. I think this is my truly favorite method of using AI because AI can criticize your work as an art critic. For this, Ideally use CGBTFo but I use Cat pink because it's a free website, unlike the CGPTFo which is a paid feature CGBT website. Just upload the picture and ask, Hi, can you please critique this oil painting as an art critic? And I was truly pleasantly surprised by results. It actually gives helpful advice rather than just gimmicky information. Just be sure to upload a good quality picture. Give it a shot and let me know how it went for you. 6. How I use AI in my Painting Practice: I can't possibly cover all I available on the market right now because it's a booming industry, and while I talk, there's a new AI coming up. Yeah, just a lot. However, I can share how I personally use AI in my art practice. Now, let's break it down. I start by brainstorming ideas using CGBT. I asked AI to write similar ideas for a prompt as I have written before. And from them, I choose the best, and then I use that prom in different AI starting with DL two while I have access to it. Then I experiment with other sites. I also decided to use the app this time to see how different results these programs generate. Then I choose the most appealing picture, and based on it, I draw a sketch. If I like the result, I take photos of the sketch and add them to the site Petalica which offer different options for coloring the sketch. In this case, the results were not very useful to me, so I added the sketch to the PMA I site, and this site offered me much better results that I could work further with. But here, it's necessary to take into account that these AIs react differently to each sketch and picture. So I tried several different programs. Then I simply transfer variations of these sketches to paper and change the detail I don't like or add something new. Once the color sketch is ready, it can be added to the app using the image damage function. The variations of images are quite interesting. Also, in this app, if you don't like anything, you can try to choose another filter, and most likely the results will surprise you. But I think it's fantastic for bringing the creativity. And just like the line sketch I add, the color sketch to PAI and the results are again, very unusual. There are just an infinite number of styles in this program, so you can play with it for a long time. But I chose a different style of painting, and the result amazed me. Just what I needed. I really like the green picture. It is not how I imagined the painting, but that's what we use AI for to find solutions to problems in a way that we wouldn't have thought of. So now I just went straight to work. As you can see, the longest work on the painting I do is the preparation phase. And then I just transferred the idea to the canvas. But you can work in a completely different mode, and for example, add the painting to AI after we have finished painting. However, I did the same thing when the painting was partially ready. I added it to the app to check what options AI offers me in order to improve the work. And so then you can repeat these steps in a loop until you're satisfied with the painting. And as well, I ask AI to critique these paintings, if I'm not satisfied with anything until I'm finished. Remember, the AI world is best, and these are just my preferred steps. Feel free to adapt and experiment based on what works best for you. 7. Additional Resources: Here are some additional resources for you to explore. First, Leonardo AI Canvas. This tool is quite diverse, and I must admit it's not the easiest to use, and it's a bit overwhelming. However, it provides 150 free tokens to play around with and generate pictures. If you're up for trying out more interesting features, you might like this AI, and this is a great tool that produces images similar to me journey. Second, integrated AI tools in Photoshop or Canva. If you're already paying for photoshop or canva or illustrator, be sure to take advantage of their integrated AI tools. And here's another interesting AI that I found that offers diverse color options for your sketches, but it's a photoshop plug in. So make sure you have auto photo shop installed before downloading this AI. You can use it to generate pictures or transform your sketches to life. Third, train your own AI model with playform. If you want really specific results based on your art style, try out this AI to because you can train it based on your artwork. Check out, create playformO and have some fun experimenting. For it, make some interesting and fast sketches with NVDA canvas AI. You have to install the whole program on your computer to use the CI, but it lets you customize Dimages precisely to your liking. Personally, it's not something I find myself needing, but it might be a perfect tool for you. Feel free to explore the resources and see which ones resonate best with your creative process. 8. Your Project: As for your project, you'll find a comprehensive guide that I created in the resources down below, and all of the rest of the information that I discussed in this course. If anything changes in my practice or AI world, I'll keep this guide updated. Use this guide to join me in creating an artwork step by step, using AI tools. Follow the steps, document your progress, and share your results with us. It's especially intriguing to see how AI behaves with different art styles or prompts. And if you run into any hurdles, upload your work and ask me any questions. I'll do my best to assist you and feel free to take it easy. You don't have to tackle all the steps all at once. Just choose one. Try it out and let me know how it goes. I'll be genuinely grateful for your input. 9. Final Thoughts: Thank you very much for staying with me throughout all of the scores till the very end. But let's keep the discussion lively. As I mentioned earlier, AI is evolving rapidly. If you come across any cool AIs along your journey, share them in the discussion. Both I and other viewers would greatly appreciate it. Let's learn from each other. I would also kindly ask you to leave a review. Your feedback helps me to understand how to enhance my content and deliver the information to you more efficiently. I'll be forever grateful. Additionally, I encourage you to check out my other courses and sketching. And creating artwork. I think you really like them. If you're interested in learning more about me and following my journey as an ever learning artist, you can find me here on Skillshare, as well as Instagram, up, and TikTok, as well. Bye bye, guys. Now, let's go and create new artwork.
