After Effects CC Interface & Workspace: Hey, guys, In this lecture, we will start off by navigating the workspace on learning some essential key turns and basic features that will help you become familiar with Adobe after effects CC layout. So basically, it starts off with a get started menu, and from here you can create new project open recent projects, or you can choose not to do anything and just close it if you want to and start working on your after effects window. So once he opened your adobe after Effects program, you will notice that there are a bunch off panels that make up the interface after effects . But the most important three that I want you to focus on are the project panel, the composition panel on the timeline. Also, I want you to know that when I click on the different panels I get, ah, highlight letting me know that that panel is active. The project panel is the panel that you will use to import and organize all the assets you'll be using in your after effects project. Whenever you want to import anything to after effects, double click here, then go to the folder where your items are safe select any, then click a point. Now when you create a group of layers, you will actually be creating a thing called a composition. And the composition is represented here in the composition panel and the compositions. Layers will be represented down here in the time like so now, to be able to create any layers here on your timeline, you must first create a new composition and to create a new composition, go to composition in the menu more and select new composition. Or you can click on new composition here, or simply hit control or command and on keyboard. This will open up the new composition settings window, and here you can set some settings, like the quality dimensions, the name, duration and color. Once you have set this according to preference, click OK to start now. Here I have my tools bar where I can, for instance, select the text tool quicker my composition and start writing my text. Say, for instance, you want to adjust your text, phone type, size and color. Here all you have to do a select text layer and go to the character panel and start at just in your text whenever you couldn't find any panel already displayed on your interface. Simply go to the window menu bar and you will find it there. Also. I have some shapes in my tools bar that I can select, then click and drag on my composition to start doing. Also. 3. The Five Basic Transforms, Keyframing & Easy Ease: Hey, guys will come back. So creating an animation is the main reason why we use after effects and this lecture. We will learn the basics off the following essential transform controls, which are position, opacity, scale, rotation and anchor point key frames and easy East. So in order to explain each point, I'll create a new composition, soul hit control or command and and click OK, then create a new solid layer. It's all make right. Click here on the Timeline Select New Fallon. The solid settings window will appear. One of the transform controls in after effects is the position. By selecting a layer and hitting P, the position will pop up the numbers next to it, or the X and Y values, which relate to the left and top off the composition. You can change the X and Y values under by dragon gets here or simply make a quick and insert the value that you won't. Okay, now, by selecting a layer and hitting t, the opacity will pop up. At the same time, you have to hit the shortcuts combined with shift key. So, for example, if I select the layer than hit pee on my keyboard to get the position control, and now I want to get the skill control as well. So I'll hit. Another way to create a new key frame is by clicking on the diamond on the left side, then change the value. Make sure not to cook on the stopwatch after creating your key frames, because by doing so, all your key frames will be deleted. Move Anchor Point Panel Overview: Hey, guys, welcome back in this lecture, I'll show you how to use three Move anchor Point script to quickly edit your layer anchor points and improve our anchor point workflow. Enough traffic. We talked a little bit in the last lecture about how you can snap your anchor point to a specific part of your frame by moving it around manually, using the pan behind tool from the toolbar. But there is actually a script that does it for you. This move Anchor Point script is a panel that I have installed, and you can just cook these barons that will automatically put the anchor point wherever you want it. So let me show how you can install this. First, you will go to the external resources off this lecture where you'll find a link, go to this Link website and download the Anchor Point script. It will open up a fine now to install it. All you have to do is to go to your adobe after effects application folder on your computer , then go under scripts, the open scripts you I panels, Then move the files that you have installed the J as X Files and the map images. Move that into the script. You I Panels folder. Then you have to close your after effects program and open it again. Then go up to window in the menu bar and you will see this move Anchor point panel. Click on Earth and it will open up the move Anchor Point panel. 5. Introducing Track Mattes: Hey, guys, welcome back in this lecture. I want to show you how track mats work in after effects because we are going to use track math in the upcoming local animation projects that we're going to create together throughout the schools. In order to explain this more and make it clear for you, let me first import a logo here. Then I'm dragged down to my time long and scale it up a bit. And now I'll draw a rectangle that is half black and half going. So here also left the rectangle from the tools bore. Then click on so year and Select Lean Year Grady in thanks like Okay. So here, if I chose aluminum that the white part of our shape layer will reveal the part of the low bucatini and any other part the layer that is placed outside the white pork, it will make it invisible. But if I chose alumina inverted man, everything off the local ear that is placed outside the white part will be visible. While any part of the logo placed inside the white part will be invisible. Yes, if we chose also Matt, it will review the whole area off the logo that's placed inside our shape layer here. And that's because our logo is filled with pixels, and also map fills out the Pixies. And if we chose Alfa inverted math, it will make any port off the logo that is placed outside this rectangle visible, and the other part of the logo that is placed inside the rectangle will be invisible. 6. Liquid Logo Animation : Create & Animate Liquid Lines: Hey, guys, in this lecture, I'm going to show you how to create this nice looking liquid logo animation. So let's get started. First thing. I'll create a new composition by heading Control for Command, and I'll call it a liquid logo animation of just any settings you want. Thanks like. Okay, now I'll create a new solid by hearing control or command. Why? I'll call it a liquid lines, and I'll set its color to black now. Also looked the pen tool from the toolbar. Make sure your liquid lines layer is selected, then start drawing a path using thiopental. Please note the tour line will follow this path, so make sure you are making it exactly as you want toe Any major life for me, I'll be using this path shape. You can adjust the curve of your path after drawing it by dragging the handles off each anchor point using the selection tool. All make these curves as round as possible. But before doing this, I'll go to the Effects and Precepts panel and search for an effect Cold CC particle system to selected and then drag and drop it on your liquid lines layer. So here I'll change the birth rate toe around 50. Set the longevity to 0.6. Please note that any changes applied the Here you will be able to see it right away on your composition here. Now I'll open up this physics tab and change the velocity of zero. Also, I'll set the animation type to work, and maybe I'll change the gravity to zero. And as you can see here, this has made it look around. Great. Now we're going toe animated according to the path that we have created. So I'll drag my time indicators of beginning of my timeline. Select this mask path and hit control or command. See toe. Copy it. No open effects here. The open cc particle effect. Then open up This producer top The producer simply is the point from where the particles are being produced now. Select the position and hit control or command V to paste the mask path on it. Now, if you play this, you would see that are particles year are moving along the path that we have created yet Please know that you cannot adjust the position again. After pasting theme, ask Pat because it has converted our mask path into key frames. As you can see you and thats why are particles are moving now? Okay, great Now all select all those key frames and add Easy is by either hitting F nine on keyboard or right click he frame assistant Easy's Now all go to the graph editor here and in the speed graph editor. I'll drag this point a bit here on this to make the animation speed faster at the end compared to the starting now back to the Effect Settings panel here. And let's up just a few more settings to reach the shape that we want for our project here . So open up particle time here and I will change the particle type for the fade IDs here that l set the death size to zero in order to create a tale of it, as you can see here. And also ill said the size variation 200%. Now I'll change the opacity map to Constant and also increase the mask. Opacity. 200%. Great. Now I'm going to change the particles colors so quick on any of these colors watches and choose the color you want. This is according to a perfect for me. I'll choose colors that would match the logo that I'll be adding later on here now. All set the death color to the same color as well. Now I'll go to the effects and presets panel and search for an effect called Simple Chalker Dragon, Drop it on the liquid lines layer here and now in the effect settings panel our increase the chalk Mato 40. So what has this effect done? If you take a look on our particles line, you would see that it became a single line. Now there are no particles inside it. Also, it has a flat look. Now you can also control the length off this line by increasing the longevity Also increase the birth rate a bit. Now. This looks good to me. Okay, great. So far so good. No, I want to make this line to disappear at the end of our animation here. So, Dr my time indicator here. Quick on the stopwatch beside birth. Great. Now I'll go six frames forward then change in the birth. Great value to zero. So as you can see here, the line is disappearing. Yet we need to match the timing here. Salt. Select those key frames and dragged them a bit to the left. Here. Now this looks perfect. Great. Let's quick on the ramp review and see what we have so far. This looks very good to me. Now I'll make another copy off this liquid lines layer. It's all selected and had control or command the on keyword. I'll drag the bottom liquid lines layer to the right of it so that they would have different animation time. Now I'll change the color off this top liquid line layer. Choose any color you want thinking, OK, now in the bottom, look would layer. I'll increase the chalk map so that the bottom line would be sinner than the top one, as you can see. So if you play this, you would get this nice looking line with a tail attached to it free Now also looked these two layers that create a copy by hair in control or Command Z. 7. Liquid Logo Animation : Add Splash Ring: Hey, guys will come back. And this Lechter will be proceeding with our liquid logo animation and this by adding a splash rink. 9. Electric Strokes Logo Reveal : Create Animated Random Electric Strokes: Hey, guys will come back and this lecture will be starting a new logo animation project. Together we'll create this nice electric strokes logo animation. So let's go start first thing I'll had control or command and on keyboard to create a new composition. Then click. OK, now I'll import my logo. Saul Double could hear on the project. Pounds import my logo, then dragon. So first thing I'll hide this, which come by clicking on the I. I couldn't hear beside it because we actually don't need to see it. And now I'll create a new adjustment layer. So right click here new and select adjustment layer. I'll drag it above the local layer. Here, I'll called Gooch Effect so selected hit return on keyboard type and glitch effect, then had to return again. Now I'll go to the Effects and Presets panel and search for an effect called Displacement map applied on the adjustment layer here and in the effects settings window. All set the displacement. My player to glitch Kump. I'll also Sepp the Max horizontal displacement to 173 and the maximum vertical to 96. Now, if we click on the ramp review, you would see that it has applied the glitch effect on or Lugou. And it is animating all the weight. But this is actually not what we want. I'm going to show you how we can create this nice and wonderful liquid Local reveal animation and after effects. So let's get start. First thing I'll had control or command and keyboard to create a new composition. I'll call it Liquid. Lugou Review. Feel free to choose your own settings here, then click. OK, and now I'll never could here on my project panel to import my logo. I'll drag and drop it on my timeline here. First step is to adjust the size of the logo so selected and hit us on keyboard to get this kill control and then just the size according to her need. Now. So here I'll go to the Tools Bar and selected text Toe. Click here on my composition and start writing my text. Adjust the fun type, color and size using the character panel according to your purpose, and then align it to the center of this logo like this. Now let's start any meeting our text. I'll drag my time indicator here at three seconds and seven frames, and that's where I want my text animation to start. Then go to the effects and Precepts panel and search for an effect. Cold. Read the basic rotate. Why cascade, Drag and drop it on the text layer here and once applied your text. Will enemy like this. So let's click on the ramp review and see what we have so far, person. 20. Flipping Papers Logo Animation : Create Animated Flipping Papers: Hey, guys will come back in. This lecture will start creating together this knife flipping logo animation. So let's get started. First thing. As usual, I'll hood control or command and a keyboard to create a new composition. You're Frito. Just any settings you want. Think like. OK, now I'm going to import my logo. So double quick on the project panel here. And importantly, logo out. Dragon. Drop it on the timeline here and I'll skill top a bit. So select a layer and hit us on keyboard to get this case control, then drag it up. Also RP composite. So hit control or command ship. See, I'll called logo. Make sure to select. Move all attributes option here, I think. Look OK, great. Now I'll go to the tools bar here and select the rectangle tool. Make sure you are selecting any layers here. Now I will activate the proportional grid here for more precise results and I'll zoom in a bit. And now I'll come here and draw a rectangle that covers half off my logo like this. It doesn't have to be a rectangle. You can choose any shape you want according to your logo shape please note that I'm setting my rectangle shape to be in a solid awful. Drop it on my shape layer here and now I'll drag my time indicator to this rotation first key frame. Then go to the Effect Settings panel. Click on the stopwatch beside Channel Range here, then go to 16 frames, said the master Lightness to negative 30 then dragged the time indicator to 22 frames. Then said the master likeness to zero. No, let's click on the rhyme preview and see what we have now. Great. So as you can see here, we gotta some shading as the shape is flipping here. Perfect. So far, so good. Now I'll create copies off this shape layer so selected on hit control or command Z on keyboard four times. Now I'll drag my time indicator to the beginning of my timeline. Hit shift page down to go 10 frames forward. Select this flip to layer and hit open bracket to move its aim. Point to the time in the cater now again hit shift page down to go 10 frames forward. Select flip three layer and hit open record to move its end point to the time indicator and again hit shift page down. Select flip for layer, then hit open bracket on keyboard to move its M point to the time indicator. My last one here Hit shift page down. Select flip five. Player and Hit open racket. Great. So first thing I want to do here is that I want to drag this logo pre comp upward here employs it on top of my timelines tack. But before doing this, I'll create another copy off this shape layer and make it stay up in orderto place my logo on. So I'll select flip five Flare here and had control or command the on keyboard. No, I don't need the animation for this shape layer, so I'll drive my time indicator to the beginning off this flips shape layer. Select the layer and hit you on keyboard to get all the key frames. So let them all and hit delete. Also, I'll delete the U saturation effect for this layer. Now let's click on the ramp preview and see what we have. Perfect. Now I'll select this logo pre composition and place it on top off my timelines back here. I'll enable it as well, and this by clicking on the I. I couldn't hear beside it. Also, I'll make it a three layer now also like this flip six layer and make a duplicate by hearing control or command the on keyboard dragon. Drop it above the logo pre compere, and now I'll come here in the track. Matte COLUMN If you can't see the track matte column on your timeline, you can either hit a four on keyboard or use the toggles, which is mood but in here. So come here in the track. Mark column beside the logo pre come and set it to Alfa Drachma. So now our logo will be visible on Lee inside this layer. Great. Now I need to make this part off my logo at the bottom here to be visible as well. It's all select these two layers and make a duplicate by hitting control or command the on keyboard that I'll change the Alfa Matt here to Alfa Inverted Man. Now let's cook on the rack preview and see what we have so far this. So here we need to apply the same flip animation toe the top local layer year so that it will flip with the other layers as well. So simply, I'm going toe parent this logo pre composition layer to flip five layer here and this by dragging this equip, I couldn't hear toe full it five flair and then release. So as you can see here, it has parented our logo pre composition to flip five flair. Also, all said the timing where I want my logo to start appearing on my timeline here so I'll drag my time. Indicators say to one second and 24 frames. Select both logo pre composition layers on drag their in points to the time indicator like this. And now if we click on the rap review, you would see that this logo part will flip like the other layups for for one more thing. I want to have shadows here on the bottom of my logo as well, because it is flipping. So go to the effects and Precepts panel and search for the hue and saturation effect again . Dragon, drop it on my top local layer. Here, I'll drive my time indicator to one second and 26 frames. Click on the stopwatch beside channel range, then go to one second and 28 frames and set the master likeness to negative 28th. Then go to about two seconds and three frames, then set the master lightness value to zero Now I'll turn off the proportional grid on Let's click on the ramp review and see what we have. Great. So now we have this nice looking animation. Now I want to animate these whole flipping layers to make a nice in truth sauce. Left them all and pick opposed them by hearing controller Command shift. See? Let's call it local flip. Make sure you select move all attributes option here, then click. OK, now awful. Let this layer and hit P on keyboard to get the position control, then hold down shift key, then hit F and then our to get these tail and rotation controls. Now I'll drag the time indicator 23 seconds quick on the stopwatch beside them all. Then go to the beginning of my timeline. I'll said the scale value to something big se 453% and I'll thought the rotation value to around 82 degrees. Don't drag the entire logo outside of my composition like this. Select all key frames and add Easy East by either hitting as nine on keyboard or right click key frame assistant. Easy, easy. Now I'll go to the grass editor and in the speed graph dragged this point inward. You are definitely free to set whatever values you want based on how you want it to enter your scene. This is totally up to your preference. In my case, I'll make it like this. Perfect. Now I'll add a nice bank ground here and this by adding a solid player. You can choose toe add any custom photo or video if you want. This is totally up to you. So here all had control or command. Why? Oh keyboard To create a new solid layer. I'll call it background and click. OK, drag it down here. Then I'll go to the effects and peace. 22. Flipping Papers Logo Animation : Add Realistic Shadow & Finalize The Project: Hey, guys, in this lecture, we are proceeding with the last part of our flip logo animation project. So here I'm going toe. Add a nice shadow undermined logo here. So first thing I'll do is that Al had control or command. Why on keyboard to create a new solid, I'll call it Shadow and I will change its color. Then click. OK, now I'll go to the effects and presets battle and search for, in effect called Ghazi and Blur drag and drop it on my shadow layer. The gallium blur effect blurs and softens the image and eliminates noise. So here in the Effect settings panel, Ill said the blur nous to something like 878. And now I'm going to apply another effect. So go to the effects and Precepts panel and search for an effect called directional Blur Dragon. Drop it on the shadow layer. The directional blur effect gives a layer the illusion of motion. So here, in the effect setting Paolo all set the direction to 90 degrees and set the blur length toe about 1000 Now also, let the layer and hit us on keyboard toe. 24. Lighting Logo Reveal Animation : Create Lighting Effect: Hey, guys. So in this lecture, we are going to start creating together the lighting logo. Any mission project. So first thing, as usual, head control or command and on keyboard to create a new composition, you are free to choose whatever settings you want. Then click. OK, now I'm going to report my logo. So let's turn the visibility off Now I'll go to the effects and presets panel and search for the sever problems that we have just installed in the previous lecture applied on the logo composition. They're here. Then go to the Effect Settings panel here. I will open up the customized core and changed the core type toe layer math. I'll also change the core size toe one and choose another glow color year by clicking on the color swatch beside it. You are free to choose whatever color you want.
