1. Introduction: Hi, I'm Jake, and in this list, we are going to learn how
to use this fire template, which does not require any
external plugins to use. You don't need to
have any experience of working with
Dobe after effects. You can even download
the pre trial version, and it will work fine. We will be able to
create cool logos, text, and shapes fire effects. In just a few clicks, you'll be able to change a wide variety of settings to
get your own original look. First, we will have
a quick overview of my template and
all basic features, which you can adjust
to get your own look. I'll provide you all needed
knowledge and show you different real life
examples in which you can use this template
for your own projects. Also, by the end of this class, I'll show you advanced ways to control the light fire reveals, fly by logo intros, and more. You can always write your questions in discussion
section under any of my classes to get help for me while creating
cool effects. I think it's the
best way to learn the software while creating
interesting effects for fun, and to complete this class, our goal is to apply
the fire effect on your own text or logo. I'll be happy to
see in my class. As also your result after
following all the steps. So, let's get started.
2. Quick Overview: So I'm using after effects, 2024, you can see, I have this version 24, and I'll save this project
as well in version 22. You'll be able to use it if you have the older
version of the software. This project will be available in resource step to this class. In this first video, we will have a quick overview over all features which
this project has. In the next video,
I'm going to show you each specific situation of how
you can use this template. First of all, what
you can see that we have your text logo here. Here, basically you can drop
any any photo or any text, and it will
automatically generate the video here in to render
fools decomposition. Basically, you can
even write a text. By the way, I've also included Most fund which I've
used for this video. For example, fire, you can just write it, you
can tweak it here. As you can see, I've
said it min to 80%. It would be a bit squished. Also with this aligned panel, I can just align it
horizontally and vertically. By clicking on this
and this button. If you cannot see
this align panel, you can go to window and
enable it from here a line, it checked, and it will
appear on your screen. Once we have our text, we can just go to
render full HD. As you can see, we already have this really
cool fire effect. Just keep in mind that it
will render pretty slow, you would need to change
to lower resolution. For example, in co resolution, you can press zero
pad and preview the dynamic and the
look of this template. And in full resolution, you can see the details. Here you would want to
tweak your values and control layer to get the exact look of the
fire which you want. If you want to see
dynamics, once again, change to quarter,
press zero numpad, and you can see the
dynamic itself. Let's also see how you can easily change some
of these settings. You can just go to
control layer and go to the effects and control
panel. Just click here. Left most click on here. Once again, you
can go to window, and if you cannot
see this panel, you can go to window
and enable it from here here affects controls. Now you'll be able to see
all of these settings. Once again, in this video, it will be a quick overview. You would know what we can
do with this template. In the next video, I'm
going to show you how you can approach
different situations. Here we will have
enabled image blend. Basically, this will work
great with the color images. We will be able to apply it. As you can see it shows the original colors
of our text or logo. In the future videos, we are going to use
different kind of logos to address these
specific blending options. As you can even here with
the simple white text, it already makes quite a change. Let's go to full to
see all details. We already can tweak to make
our edges a lot crispier. With fire complexity, we
can add some complexity. It gives you more contrast with the titan fire, basically, it will makes more less glow as you can see and very
crisp wisps of fire. If I'm going to set to
something really big like 200, you'll see that we have a lot of glow and even more change. Also, you can see that
along these names, we have some numbers. Basically, these numbers are default values which I've said. You can always experiment with these numbers and change to whatever value
which you want. If you want to go back
to the default settings, you can just simply type this
value again. Here is 50. Spread fire up works
great if you would want to make your fire go
in some of directions. Once again, in the next video, I'm going to show
you more examples. These kind of shots
which you can see in introduction
to this class. We will use this spread fire up. We can always change it
to something more 250, and as you can see it
spreads up even more. I'm going to set to default
value, which is 140. Also, we have the flame details. Now it's set to more
optimal choice, but you can always overdo it or even make it less pronounced. Basically, if you go up 250, you'll get more windy
fire as you can see, with this experimentation, you can get different
kind of results. This is more like wind is
blowing directly in the fire, and if you'll get something less than
default value of 100, for example to 50,
you'll get more Of these wispier motions. You can go even less, which will look not
that realistic, but it could be an
interesting look if you would want to have
something really dramatic. The key to this is always to combine with different
blending modes. I will get you more
interesting result. You can see you can get
pretty fun results. If you'll set this to two, you can see that we can get pretty unique results and
cool thing about this, that you can even click
here to enable color. And change the color, which
makes this look more unique. Basically, this frame details can give you really
interesting results. It will not look like
a fire at this moment, but it still looks
pretty interesting. As you can guess by clicking on here on fire color, on off, you can enable this ability to change the color
to any kind of color. As you can see by clicking
here and changing, you can get any color you
want and disable color. It will go back to
main fire color. Also cool thing which we can get is with this more details, which is on by default, you can get a lot of details. But if I'm going to switch off, you can see that we losing some details here, for example. Let's switch off. As you can see it gives
you less details. For some logos, it could
be helpful to switch off. Blends with the
edges a bit more. Maybe sometimes you
want this look. If you will enable this more
details, you can enable it. And now with this
logo details on, you can change whatever
value you want. But keep in mind that the settings works only
if this settings on. If this settings off, you can change here
to any kind of value, and you will not see any effect. Let me set to default. Now let's enable it. Now if I'm going to
change this value, you can see that if I'm
going to set two 50, you get less logo details. Let's crank up to 250,
which is quite high. You can see that we can get this more liquefied look on
the edges of our effect. So if you will keep
it saddle to 170, you can get more
interesting curving on the edge of the logo. Default value will be 100. Basically, it will give
you more cleaner edge. This was our overview of all settings which we
have for this template. The next videos, I'm
going to show you each example which you
would want to use, maybe different logos,
instead of text. As you can see, I have a
bunch of examples here, and I want to go through
to show you each examples, which you could see
in introduction to this class. See in
the next video.
3. Different Logos and Text Example: Now in this video,
we are going to use different kind
of logos and colors, so I could show you a
different color combinations and blending options. Basically, you can just
go to file import file, and you can import any
logo which you want. For example, I can go with this one and just double
click in it to import. But as you can see, we already have here
in footage folder, all of these logos, which I provided for
you to practice on. I'm going to delete this one,
which I've just imported. I just wanted to show you
that to import your own logo, you need to go to
file import file. Let's start with
really colorful logo. We can put here on a hide button to show all the layers which
I already have for you. For example, let's enable not this bowl color but
this logo one color. Just select it and enable it. If you are interested
how to drop your logos into your text logo
here composition, you can just import your logo, the left most lik hold. And drop it here, and it will appear on your
screen, just like this. You can press as well selecting your footage
and resize it. If you need case, I already have this logo, I'm going to select it and
press delete to delete it. And enable it from here. Now we know how to
import our logo, and if you will have it upset, you can go to a line panel and just make sure
it's in the center. If you cannot see
this line panel, you can go to window
and click here a line. Let's go to our
main composition, which is to render a pig
D to see our result. As you can see it already works, and as you know from
previous video, we have all of
these cool settings which we can apply to it. You would want to choose
any of these options. Let's click on the first one. As you can see, we already have this blending of the fire
and our original colors. You can always go to logo here and let's enable effects
in precess panel, or maybe let's just go to
effect color correction, and let's apply tint effect. With this tint effect, we've made our logo black and white, and let's go to render
polish D. As you can see, we lost our colors, but we still have
more gradient of it. As you can guess, with
this little settings, you can just set it to
less saturated color. And control how much of the
color you want here to be. Just make sure to enable
this image blend, one to see the colors itself. For now, I want to go
to your text logo here and just disable it here
to see original colors. It would be nice and bright, let's disable this one
and go to blend two. Now as you can see it a
bit different color blend. It's really helpful with
different logos because not all logos works great with each of
these blending options. This is why I've included three types of blending options
for you to choose from. The best part that
you can combine them. If I'm going to click here, you will see that it will combine these two
blending options. If I'm going to
dislect this one, you can see that we are
combining two choices, which could work pretty
interesting on your logo. You can always enable
this tint effect to desaturate this color and
tweak our even further. For now, I just want
to see full colors, and let's disable these two
and enable this third one. As you can see, this doesn't work quite good with this logo. This is why we have
three blending options. Let me show you when you would want to use
this third one. For example, you don't
have this color logo, but you have something more black white like this bowl here. Let's go back to
render a full HD. For the logos, it
works even better. It's a good idea to
tweak it and change it between the blending options
to see what works best. For example, you can see that this bowl doesn't work with
this blending two option, and let's try blending one. Also this one also
doesn't look really good. This is why we have once
again three options. So what if our bled in
three options looks good? But you would want to have your bowl more visible
fire complexity. Let's disable it.
As you can see, we have a lot more
visibility of our bowl. Maybe let's set it in the
middle, just like this. It would be nice and centered. And maybe you would want to
have our flames go a bit up. Let's spread fire up
and set it to 250. As you can see with
these few changes, this logo looks a
lot better and you can always tweak this titan
fire, for example, to 20. If you would want to have
this more dramatic look and you can tweak
the flaying details. For example, you would
want to have less details, then you would go with
200 or maybe more details and you would go with 50. So as you can see it
really works great. Let's try another logo. Maybe let's apply once
again, fire complexity. Let's try another logo. I have this mortal combat one. Let's disable this one
and enable this one. As you can see, I
already applied this gradient tram because
if I'm going to desolate it, you can see by clicking on this Tuggle transparency grid
that it's completely black. Let's see how it works with
completely black logo. As you can see, we
don't have a lot of details because our blended
option is set to three. Let's try to disable it. Okay. And as you can see it
works pretty great as it is. You can always click through this to see how it would look with different
kind blending options. This also looks pretty cool because we have
fire only on the edges, which looks subtle,
but in some cases, it could be even
your desired look. Just keep in mind that you
can always tweak it further. For example, you can disable
this fire complexity, which will show your logo entirely Maybe you want
to tighten the fire. Let's set it to original
value, which is 50, and maybe let's go
overboard like 150 and you already have these
little wisps on top of it. I'm going to set
to deplet value. Let me show you how you
can even tweak it further. Basically, we can just disable this look even
more interesting. You can go to your text
logo here and apply this gradient ramified
it here and effects, generate gradient M.
Let's click on it and you can just basically change these points,
just like this. If you will scroll with
wheel on the mouse, you can adjust these
points of your gradient. In my original example,
as you can see, I've used this bright part in the bottom and
darkest part in the top. You can just
basically mimic this and change the points around
to have this kind of look. We can once again go to render full HD and see how it looks. As you can see, we
don't have any changes because we didn't choose
any blending options. Let's start with the first one. As you can see, we already have some blending option
which doesn't work great. Let's go to second one. This looks much
more interesting. You could see it in the
introduction to this class because I've used this gradient
exactly to get this look. Basically, if your logo
is just completely black, you might need to
consider to apply some gradient ramp to get this look if this is
something you like. We can always uncheck
this one and check here to see how it looks
this final blending option. As you can see,
we can get really different los just with
simple few clicks. Just keep in mind that
you can always tweak your gradients and get really interesting
looks on your logos. I can see, we can manipulate
where our light is, and here will be a
lot more fire and here is a can see
it completely dark. This third options really works weight with
the black logos. It also goes to the text. For example, if you would
have this fire text, and if it would set to black, just like this, it will
also work on it as well. As you can see, we have
this dramatic fire lo. Once again, you can just select our mortal combat and
copy this gradient ramp. Let's press control
C to copy and select your fire text or any other text which you can type press,
control V to paste. With these points
of our gradient, you can show to the software where you would want
to see more fire, and as you can see it
looks pretty cool.
4. Fire Reveal Animation: As you can guess, you can
always animate this value. For example, you can
set this point here. Let's animate both of them. This start gram point is
this one, as you can see. Let's click here on stopwatch and click
here on the stopwatch. What we did, we
created a key prams. Select your text and
press on keyboard, as you can see, I pressed. It will allow you to show up these keyprams
which we just created. What is keyprams? Primes is
basically the points in time, which remembers the value
of certain property. In our case, these
points in this time, let's maybe move it to the
0 seconds on our timeline. Here at 0 seconds in
this moment in time, it remembers these values
of these properties. Basically, this is a
coordinates in x and y x. This is our start ramp,
which is this one. As you can see as I'm moving it, and these values changes. Basically, this is how we
tell in the software to remember the coordinates of
this point of gradient ramp. Just make sure to select
it to be able to see it. Basically, we've set
to our software, so it would remember that
this point should be here, 0 seconds, and this
point should be here. Let's just scroll to the third second and just
move this point right here. What happens is, if I'm
going to press zero pad, you can see this little
animation from right to left. If we will go to render
full HD and press zero d, you will see that it
also appears here. Just keep in mind that
in full resolution, it will take a lot of time. Let's maybe change to water. To preview the animation
and press zero number. Now as you can see, we have
this light passing by, and we will see flames only in these parts,
which we've animated. In full resolution,
you would want to tweak the fire look itself
as we did in first video. Basically, you can
play around and make really interesting
animations and maybe even tighter
look like this. Which will result in
really interesting looks. Finally, as you remember, we can always click here and change the fire
look if you want. If I'm going to set to logo, you might be
interested what will happen if we will change
the color of the fire. And we still want to see
our original colors. It also available in one
of these blending options. For example, you can click
here and you can still have your colors of your logo and the color of the fire
could be changed here. You can just play around and choose which blended option
you would want to have. You can see it also looks
pretty interesting. If you would want to colorize them both in the same color, you can always go to your logo, which is this one
and go to effects, color correction, and tritone. Here with this color, you can change the same color
which you have of our fire. Now as you can see, we've
colorized in one color, or you can go with
the different one. To get this look and
just play around with these blending options to get
more interesting results. Just don't go with the
full color like this. It would be better to choose
something in the middle of the color because it will work
better with this template. As you can see, it looks
much more interesting. This is basically all
that you need to know about the colors of
your logo and how you can combine them and
how you can even manipulate the animation of the fire
and light on the fire.
5. Logo Flyby: Okay, so on this video,
I'm going to show you how you can add a bit of
movement to your logo. For example, if you would
want to your logo to go right across the
screen like this. You can see, we have
this simple animation of moving from right to left and our flames goes after
our logo, just like this. This is pretty easy to do, but it's not built in in the
project itself natively. As you can see, here we
don't have any settings for a wind change or
maybe of the angle. Just because this template
is pretty complex and it's not that easy to achieve the rotation
of these flames. I have a work
around for you just so you would have this
ability to have this effect. What we want to do we want to take our logo and
just rotate it, just select it and press our own keyboard to
see rotation option. And rotate it down just like
this to Mus 90 degrees. We can even set it a bit lower, just like this, we would render all the logo
and fire after it. Let's see how it looks. I see it already looks pretty cool. At this point, we can just tweak our settings to get the
look which you want. For the movement, I would
advise you to make sure that this low effect doesn't go to this edge because when we
would have it rotated back, and this cutting edge
will be visible. Just make sure to go to your text logo here and
move it a bit up just like this and go to render polish D and make sure that
this glow doesn't get cut. Second thing which
we would want to change is this spread up fire. I've included this settings
just for this animation. At this point, we want to
go overboard like 800. Don't afraid to put a
really high value because it clams about at 500
and as you can see, it doesn't have any effect. Just make sure to set it
really high like this and to get more glow, you would want to
change the title fire to maybe a default value of 50. As you can see, we have
a lot of glow here. Maybe let's reduce
the flame details to set to default as
well, which is 100. As you can see with this one
settings of flame details, you can really tweak
the look of this fire. You already can see that it already resembles
this kind of fire. But I think that I've
tightened my fire a bit more. Maybe let's set it to 30. As you can see we can get
more individual flames, maybe let's set it to 20, and you can get a lot more
detail fire with less glow. With this flame details, I would tweak it further and
experiment with this value. Let's try at 50. As you can see, we are getting a lot more of these
individual flames. As you can guess if I'm going to go higher than
defolt which is 100. For example to 150, we will get less detailed fire. Basically, with
this one setting, you can achieve
your desired look. For something like this,
I would stay maybe around default value or
a bit higher 150, so it would be nice
and bright and we would have
individual flames here. Then basically, you
just need to go to composition add to render Q and render with the simple H 264
format, which is MP four. Here you would want to click and specify where you would want to render your video on your computer. And
just click render. Once you do this, I'm going to click
this render Q, you'll be able to go
to project panel, leftmost double
click here or go to file import file to
import our video, which we just rendered. As you can see, I've rendered
a lot of these examples, and just basically leftmost
lick and import it. As you can see, I've already import a bunch of them and you can just select it and
drop it on this icon here. It will create a composition
based on this render. Finally, you would want
to select it and press R on keyboard and rotate
it to 90 degrees. Basically -90. It will
face right direction, and 90 it will face
left direction. Finally, as you can see, we have this really
cool animation. And we can just simply
animate the position. Select left on slick and select your video,
then hold shift, and you'll be able
to move only to this place let's press P on
keyboard to see our position, we can click on the stopwatch to create a keyframe
and at 2 seconds, we can just move it right here. As you can see, we
draw this path. And it automatically
created second keyframe. Now if I'm going to
press zero on numbed, you can see this animation. You can always tweak
this animation just by moving this keyframe. If you will set these key
frames farther apart, you will get a slower
animation, as you can see. If you will hit this swiss spot of this animation of the
flames and this speed, it will look really believable. As you can see, this looks
already pretty cool. Basically just play
around with this speed. To make sure that it
looks pretty great. Basically, with this technique, you can maybe just
add some text. For example, your channel or whatever you want to have it. I'm going to select my text. I'm going to make it
visible on screen. Let's type maybe Mjke I'm
going to set to 100 here. Just make sure to select it and set it to default value of 100. Basically, you can just move it in a center and time it well. You can see it covers because this video which we've rendered doesn't
have Alpha channel, which basically means
it's not transparent. But we can easily fix this. We can click here on
this tugle switch and change this mode to scream. Basically now it can
be applied here. Final thing which you
want to do is to select your text select this rectangle
tool and make this mask, maybe a lot bigger. Let's make it really big like this and move it by changing
this to selection tool, you'll be able to
select your mask. Let's time it well. Here, you would want to move
this mask to our logo, then select this mask here. If you can see your mask, you can just scroll it
down here and here at mask and create a
keyframe for mask path. Basically, we would want
to animate this path. Now we can just simply move
this mask to reveal our text. Also make sure it's timed
well, just like this. We can change this mask feather. It will blend nicely. Once again, you can just tweak
it this speed of reveal. Let's see how it looks.
This really simple way to animate your text
using your logo, which could look pretty interesting and
you can even go to layer adjustment layer and
apply effect called transform. You can go to effects,
distort and transform. Basically, you can have this
really nice logo reveal. Just set a keyframe for scale, press on keyboard to
see this keyframe, let's move it over, and here at the beginning, maybe zoom in. Basically, you would have
this zoom out effect. Reveal of your text. You can always go to this
graph editor and make sure that you've selected under this icon that you
see edit speed graph. Because in this case, you can just left mostly on this handle. And drag it to the
left like this. It will make this motion of zoom out effect a bit faster at the beginning and
slower towards the end. Let's exit this graph editor
and spread these key frames, and you will have this
really nice zoom animation. Something like this should
look pretty interesting. So as you can see with
these combinations, you can get really
interesting look you can even tweak it further as you
like maybe at more glow. As you can have a
lot of fun with this and you can even
go with the ball one. I already rendered this ball. In my case, I can just
simply select this logo and change and swap it with the ball and also
have this review, which would also look
pretty interesting.
6. Fire Light Sweep: My case, I would play round. I would much rather play around with the light of the animation, which I've showed you in previous videos
because I think it looks a bit more
interesting to me. For example, let's try
to have light sweep. We can disable this
gradient ramp, and let's go to effect, generate CC light sweep. Here, basically, we
would want to change the edge intensity
to zero and sweep intensity to really
high valuate this with this combination and also
this blend option three. I think we can get really
interesting looks. Just keep in mind that you
have a lot of options. By the way to animate this one, you need to animate
the center value. Let's click here. Move it. We've created a keyframe. We can press one keyboard to see this key frame and later, we can just move it
would run across. You can by the way change
this angle if you want, so it would look like this, which also gives you really
interesting animation. As you remember in
full resolution, it will render really slow, but in full resolution, you can always tweak
the details of the fire and get exactly look to which you want by
changing these values. Once again, we can just
simply add more details here. Then to preview the animation, you would want to
change the quarter and see how fast it looks. And to check if speed of
animation looks great. For my taste, I would
also expand this sweep. This width, I would set
a bit higher like this, so it would blend nicely and maybe lowered the
sweep intensity. It would help me
just get this kind of e light running across. This is how it looks
in full resolution, which as you can see,
looks pretty great.
7. Fire Circle Transition: Finally, here you can see
this circle transition, which basically means that
in your text logo here. I have this shape, which I basically just animate how it sprays up like this. To show you that you can even animate a simple shape
such as this one, and go to this circle transition
and see how it looks. I'm going to press
zero on amped and you can see this transition. You can always tweak the look of it here in to render PHD. You can make sure that it
looks exactly as you want. For example, I
wouldn't want to go to this high value
of spread fire up. Maybe I'll lose it to 200. It would look more interesting. And you might be asking
yourself why we have this separate composition
for this transition. It's all about the edges. If you will render
this composition, you would see that
here at the end, it corrupts these edges and
it doesn't look really good. This is why we have
this circle transition, which basically I've used to scale up this main
composition which we are using and you will not have any issues with the edges
here as you can see. Once again, I've set
this to co to be able to see the
animation outlooks. Okay. And here with
this full mode, you can see how it looks
in full resolution. Also, if I'm going to
press you on keyboard, you can see that I've also
tweaked a few values, a scale and amount. This is amount of blur. It will have a little bit of
blur here like motion blur. Scale is just to make sure that it scales
up a bit faster. This is a literal bonus for you. In case if you would want to have something like
this transition. Just keep in mind
that you can always make your own shapes and make it here in animation and then render here in
circle transition. If you like this class,
make sure to follow me here on skill share and leave
a positive review on to this class because
it really helps me to create more classes
on skill share. As you can see here, I have
a lot of classes on VFX, also on pre AI tools for
really fun projects for you. Here we have new
classes this month, the newest classes you
will see in this section. I have fundamentals of obiter effects and
also complex V effect, log animation, devientre
resolve, and more. I really recommend you
to watch this class, which takes only 12
minutes to finish and you'll have really
