Adobe Illustrator CC for Fashion Design

1. Introduction: Hello Student, I'm Sushil K Lawaniya. In this class, you learn how to draw flat technically in Illustrator I'm going to focus only the tool you need to drawing fashion flat, like working with Selection Tool, Pathfinder Pattern Tool, Pen Tool and Layer Panel. I start from basic flat like T-Shirt and then draw a button down shirt and T-Shirt. After drawing Flat, we texture them and also discussed how to lay out your design for professional finishing product. Now, let's get started with illustrator for fashion design flats. 2. 1. Place Reference Image: In this class, we learn how to place reference image in the artboard. So first I create a new document and you can create a new document by clicking on the Create New button, or you can find this option from the File Menu. When you click on this new option available here. And keyboard shortcut is Ctrl+N But I create a new document by clicking on the create new button. When you click on this new document, flyout is displayed here. If you are creating a document for printing purpose, choose print category. All the documents size available here like A4, A3 When you click on a template, you can see the parameter related to this artboard and you can change the orientation artboard number. And very important thing is color model document follow CMYK color model. But I am creating a document for Screen Sharing purpose. So I click on the art & illustration and same document type also available in the art & illustration category. So I click on this and choose A4 from here and this template. Follow RGB color model and other parameter is the same. If you want to change the Unit Type you can choose. I choose MM from here and change the orientation. I choose this first and then click on the create button. New document is created with a defined parameter and in this white area it's called Art Board and you can draw anything in this area before you start drawing. We have to place reference image first, so I go to file menu and then click on the place option and keyboard shortcut is Shift+Ctrl+P. I click on this, Place dialog box display here and select your reference image and then click on the Place button. The reference image is placed on the pointer. You can just click on artboard or you can click and drag and define area for this reference image. I just click on the artwork on the top left edge reference image is placed here. First I move and placed in the center and then click outside to deselect this reference image because this blue color line indicate it's selected. I click outside this reference, it currently unlocked, if you click on this, you can select this and move in any place so it creates a problem when you start drawing. So it's by mistake move left or right. So first we have to knock this image and lock option available in the object and click on the locks and selection lock available here. But we have another option for lock this reference image. So I click outside and then select this reference image again and click on the Layer tab and you can click two place First is in this area, in this blank area. When you click on this, a lock icon is display here and this reference image is locked. And you can see this pointer indicate you are not able to drawing in this area. First, I unlock this and show you second matter when you click on this area, double click Layer option, dialog box display here and here, you can choose Template option when you click on this checkbox, this reference image lock and dim up to 50 percent. When you click on this reference image opacity is change and this reference image locked also. Also, if you want to draw in this artwork first, you have to create a new layer by clicking on this first icon. When you click on this, a new layer is created and you can draw in this area, pointer icon is changed now No, first you have to change the color by pressing D key. You can apply default color and default. Fill Color is white and outline color is black. Now I choose Pen Tool and click on the first point. Second point. Third point. By using this step you can draw and if you want to exit from this tool, press Esc key. First, I delete this shape by pressing Delete key. And switch to a Selection Tool. We have another option to place reference image with these changes so first, I unlock this reference image by clicking on this lock icon and then delete this layer by clicking on this recycle bin icon. Click on the yes button, so this layer is deleted now. Now I go to file menu and then click on the place and select this reference image. When you click on this template option available here, click on this checkbox and make sure this link checkbox is not selected and then click on the place button when you click on the Place button. This reference image placed in the center of this article with the 50 percent opacity. This layer is locked now and a new layer is automatically created when you click on the Place button. So it's very easy and fast option. Option in the next class will start drawing T-Shirt. 3. 2. Drawing a T-Shirt: In this class, we draw T-Shirt, so first I make changes in the Fill and Outline color. By default fill color is white and outline color is black, but we didn't need any color in the fill. So I click on the No Color icon and you can change outline color, but I choose this default color. Now I choose Pen Tool and this tool available here by right. Click on this tool. You can expand other tool in this group and keyboard shortcut is "P" and by clicking on this is small arrow, you can detach this tool from the tool menu and then place anywhere in the artboard. So it's easy to access other tools in this group if you are not able to access all these tools, click on these three dots, when you click on this, a new flyout is displayed here and then click on this Hemberger icon icon and choose advance from here. By default, Bisek is selected here. So less Tool is applied on this toolbar if you choose advance so you can access all the tools. Now I click outside to close this panel. And you can set these tools in single little or double loop by clicking on this small arrow. OK, Now I choose Pen Tool and start drawing. First, I zoom little-bit for zoom, you can use Zoom Tool. By clicking on this. You can zoom in or zoom out by click and drag on the screen and you can also zoom in or out by keyboard shortcut. So by pressing Alt key and then press the scroll wheel, you can zoom in or zoom out. And second, helping tool is Space Bar. But by clicking on the spacebar, you can activate Hand Tool for temporary basis and hand tool is available here. Keyboard shortcut is "H" so I zoom little-bit and place in the center and then you start drawing by using Pen Tool. So I click on this. Now, I start from this point, so I click on the first point, then the second point and this point indicate a curvature here. So first, I need a point here and then provide curvature. Fourth point. And then exit at this position, so i click and then press Esc key you to exit. Now, I switched to Selection Tool, by clicking on this arrow icon and keyboard shortcut is V. First, I deselect this path or stock, and then select this again, Half part of this T-Shirt is created. Now I make a duplicate copy in the left side. You can create this by using the Reflect Tool This tool available here, or you can also create by using copy and paste method. First, I show you how you can use the Reflect Tool. So first, select this is stroke and then select this, reflect tool and then press Alt and Option key and then click on the center line. You can click anywhere. A new flag is displayed here and here you can choose vertical radio button and then click on the copy, so a duplicate copy of this path is created in the left direction. Now, I switch to a selection tool by clicking on this icon, or you can use keyboard shortcut also. Now, I deselect first and create a connection between these two paths So select both corve and then. Right, click and choose. Join when you click on the Join. A connection is created here and then I click again for this bottom joint. Right click and choose Join. So this bottom point is also connected. Now I switch to Pen Tool by clicking on this icon and create point here and here for providing curvature, First I create a point here when your hover your mouse nearby this path so a aster icon is displayed in the bottom of this tool But when you hover your mouse on the curve, this icon convert into + icon and then click on this point to add a point and then use arrow key to move in the down side. OK, and same-as I create a point here when this + Icon display and then move by using down arrow key Little bit, OK. Then switch to Convert Anchor Point Tool and by using this tool, you can provide curvature. So I click on this and then click on this point and then drag So I curvature is created. Sometimes you twist in the opposite direction, so it's look like this, so to correct direction. Same as I create curvature on this point, So I click and then move in the left side. A curvature is created and same as I create curvature on this point, click and drag in the bottom direction. This time, I move in up direction. OK, curvature is created, now I switch to selection tool and deselect first. Now I create shape to indicate the back of this T-shirt. So first I switch to direct selection to by clicking on this white arrow and this tool used to select the nodes like this point or the curvature. So first, isolate this node by clicking on this or by click and drag and create a window selection. This point is selected if you copy and paste. So connected segment also copy and paste I show you. So Press Ctrl+C or Cmd+C for copy and then press Ctrl+V or Cmd+V paste. So it's placed here and it's not useful for us because we have to place on the same position. So first I delete this by pressing "Del" key and then show you second keyboard shortcut. Select this point again and then press Ctrl+C or Cmd+C to copy and then press Ctrl+F or Cmd+F or command for past in front. And this keyboard shortcut available here in the Edit Menu Past in Front and keyboard shortcut is Ctrl+F or Cmd+F So I press Ctrl+C again and then press, Ctrl+F or Cmd+F for Past in Place. Two curve is placed on the same position. Now, I joined these two points, so I R-Click. Click and choose Join Tool So a connection is created between these two point. Now I create a point here and then create a curve So I choose Pen Tool and then click on this center line when + icon is display. So a point is created by using down arrow key You can move this point in the down direction. And then choose Convert Anchor Point Tool and create a curvature, I move in the left direction. and then choose Convert Anchor Point Tool and create a curvature. OK, curvature is created. Now I switch to Selection Tool. Now I Fill this shape with the grey color because grey color used to indicate the back part of the dress. So I click on the Fil icon and choose grey color, I choose this light grey color. OK, and then deselect first. With the same steps, I create this shape, I create sleeves, so first I switch to Direct Selection Tool. and then select this point and then copy by pressing Ctrl+C, and then Paste in Front by Cmd+F or Ctrl+F So a shape is created. Now a Join first. So I R-Click. Click and choose Join Tool. So connection is created. Now I add two point and then place here. So I choose Pen Tool, first point and second point, then I switch to Direct Selection Tool because this tool used to select nodes. So click here. And then, please. OK. You can move segment or points by using direct selection, too, so it's very useful. Same as I sleep here also. So far, like this point, control C, control F, right, click and choose joint two and at two points. OK, I think Point is not reading, so I click, OK, point is Adonal Noyce's to better selection tool and move this point. In the same position. OK, so slaves also created. Now I zoom out and select all the shape and then right click and create a group and create a duplicate copy in the left side by pressing all and then drag so duplicate copy is created. Now, I make some changes in this T-Shirt to show the back of this desert. So first I like this and then double click on this shape. So now you are in the editing mode of this group. You can see here and you can select any shape. Now, I merge these two shapes so select by window selection and then click on this Unite icon in the Pathfinder. So these two shapes merge now and choose white color in the Fill and then click on this arrow to exit from the editing mode. Well, you can also double click outside on the artboard. Now, I add stitching in this area and for this neck. So first I select this shape or T-Shirt and then R-Click. Click and choose Ungroup. Deselect first, then select the direct selection tool and select this node copy, paste in front, so to duplicate copy of this curve is created on the same position, then move up by using up arrow. OK, now I apply a dash line on this curve, so I click on the stroke and check dash line check box and change the value here. I choose 2 points. And two points for gap. Stroke width is very high, so I choose .25 in the stroke width. First, I deselect this and then show you. So it look like stitching line. Same as I apply stitching here. So by using direct selection to select this curve. Ctrl+C, Ctrl+F and then move upside. So by using up arrow or move a little bit in the left side, because it's in a angle. And then click on the stroke Click on the dash line checkbox and these values default now. Same as I select this one also. Ctrl+C, Ctrl+F move up-side and move a little bit in the right side. Apply dash line OK, so dash line is applied in this area, but in this area, creating dash line is a little bit tricky. So first, I select this shape and then select this point, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+F, OK. And then switch to selection tool first I move this in the down, by down arrow and then press Alt key and then click on this center point and then move in the right side so it will move in the both direction. OK. And then move a little bit up side, so this will overlap and then move a little bit outside. OK. Now, gap is equal. Now I apply the stitching line. OK, so dash line creation is complete, same as I apply dash line here. This shape is filled with White color, so click on the No Color and then. Made some changes, same as we apply here. OK, the stitching line creation is complete. Now I off this reference image, so I go to Layer tab And then off this Layer by clicking on the Eye button. I hope you learn how to draw picture. This one is very basic. 4. 3 1 Drawing a Button Down Shirt Pt01: In this class, we learn how to draw a button-down shirt front and back. First, I show you annotation of this shirt. So I go to Layer tab and then expand this layer and on the text visibility, by clicking on this blank area, this eye icon indicates the layer visibility is On and switch to property again. And here you can see that different parts name of this shirt. So, I start from the Collar. This one is Collar, Yoke, Sleeve. Placket, and these are Buttons, and this is body parts of this shirt and it's divided into two. This one is upper body part and this one is lower body and both are front. And this one also Yoke and this one Back Body. And it's called sleeve placket. These are buttons. So these are annotation of this shirt, Now I switch to my template layer. So I go to layer tab again and then on the visibility of this template layer, by clicking on this icon and then off the viability of this annotation layer by clicking on this icon and then collapse also Layer three is already created. And on the visibility for this layer, because we draw in this layer and switch to property again and then start drawing. I start from the collar. So first I choose rectangle tool and then create a rectangle here. First, I zoom little bit by pressing Alt and scroll-wheel, and by pressing the spacebar center this and then click on the center line Click and drag. A rectangle is created, but it will create in the right side only so you can press Alt key. when you press Alt Key This will create left and right, both direction and then place on the neckline. And then release your mouse and Alt key. If you want to modify this switch to Selection Tool and Scale down little bit. Now it's perfect. Now I switch to Pen Tool and create a shape here. So first, I create a point on the neckline line in the center. Then click on this corner. Third point, fourth point and click on the Start point, A circle appear this mean the shape is closed now. If you want to modify the shape, switch to the Direct Selection Tool, I zoom little-bit This point should be placed on the neckline. And modify this point a little bit. OK, now it's look better. Or you can move this little bit upside. OK, now I switch to Selection Tool and deselect first and then select again and create a duplicate copy in the left direction by using Reflect Tool. So press Alt key and then click on the center line. And select vertical radio button and then click on the copy button by using, Right Arrow key You can move inside. OK. And then select this rectangle and copy in the clipboard by pressing Ctrl+C, and then select all the shape and then Unite by using Pathfinder Tool. Shape is merge now. Now I modify little-bit. So I select this point and then move upside. Same as I select this point also and move upside and check in the Outline View. I think there is some problem so first select these points, and by using Pen Tool, you can delete these extra points. So it's very easy to fix this type of problem. Now, I, Past In Back by using Edit > Past In Back tool keyboard shortcut is Ctrl+B. Color is created, but there is a problem. There is sharp points, so you can easily fix this. First select all the shape and then go to a stroke and then click on the round cap and round corner button. OK, now these points convert into round corner. And make a Group first, right, click and create a Group. So you can easily select this. Go to Layer tab and change the layer name coller. Now I create another layer by selecting this template layer. so new layer will be created between these two layers. Layer four is created, Now I switch to Property tab again and then zoom out. Now I create a button-down shirt body and the creation method is the same as T-Shirt. First I hide this Collar layer. OK, and then you start creating by using Pen Tool. I quickly create this and then show you. Body is created now I on the Caller layer, and check I think the position is a little-bit upset, so by using down arrow key, you can move in the down. OK, now It's perfectly position. Now I create Sleeves, and creation method is also same as T-Shirt. So first I select this node or point. And then Ctrl+C, Ctrl+F. Right click and Join and create two points by using Pen Tool. When this + Icon appears. And. Move in the down side You can select this segment or points. Also. Now, is that at this point and then move here Now, I create cuff in this area, so first I create a intersecting line, I choose line tool and create a line. And then select both shape and then apply Divide Pathfinder tool. Click on these three dots in the Pathfinder, and this tool is Divide Tool, so I click on this Now this shape break into two shapes, first deselect and then select again and then right click Ungroup first and you can Fill different color in this shape and this shape. So sleeves also created. Now I select this and then make a duplicate copy in the left direction. Coy, I think. You have to use Right Arrow key to move inside OK, sleeves is created. Now I create Placket, so I choose Rectangle tool and then click and drag. Placket is created now a align properly so first I select this shirt body and by pressing Shift key, I select this Placket and then select this shirt body again, so it's converted into a key object. And by using a Align Tool center align, you can align to center. Now I create buttons, by using Ellipse tool So zoom little-bit, and by pressing Alt+Shift key, I create a ellipse it grow from the center and then place a little bit up side And then create a duplicate copy by pressing Alt and drag, by pressing Shift key and create total eight buttons by pressing Ctrl+D. Three, four, five, six, seven and eight. I move this button a little bit upside here, OK, and then select all the buttons by pressing Shift key. Now, I equally distribute these buttons by using a align and distribution tool, so I click on these three dots and then click on the vertical distribution button. So buttons are equally distributed. I show you. And then convert into a Group. OK, so you can easily select these buttons. Now I select all the shape and make a group. Front of this shirt is created in the next class we create Back side 5. 3 2 Drawing a Button Down Shirt Pt02: In the last class, we draw this button-down shirt and we forget to add Yoke. So first I add yoke and it's a group, so we have to open this on a temporary basis. So DoubleClick. And then choose Line tool and create a intersecting line. And then. Switch to selection tool and create a duplicate copy in the right side by using Reflect tool. All click on the center line. Copy, Vertical is already selected. And join them by using Shift key, I Select both lines. Right, click join. Now, I divide this shirt body by using this line. Line is selected and there is no Fill color. If there is any color. So it will create problem. So make sure there is no Fill color. Now I select shirt body by pressing Shift key and then apply divide tool. So I click on the three dot and click on the Divide. Divide tool apply on the body. Now, I change the order, so first click outside, then select again, then right click, arrange and send to back. There is one more problem in the collar. From this area back side of this shirt will show, and it should be grey. So I choose collar and then double-click because it's a group. And then create a triangle here by using Pen Tool. or you can switch to Outline mode, so you can create a pixel perfect point. OK, and then switch to GPU preview mode and filled with grey color. OK, so problem solved. DoubleClick outside to exit from the editing mode. In the T-shirt drawing class, we learn how to add stitching line. So I add stitching line and then continue. Front of this button-down shirt is complete now. Now I create backside of this shirt. So first I create a duplicate copy, by pressing Alt+Shift key, and by using this front I create backside. First, I double click and delete unused part like these buttons and placket. And we are in editing mode and delete this placket. Stitching lines and move these buttons outside, Ungroup And delete selected button and this button I use for cuff. Now a select shirt body, and it's a group, so double click and select this yoke. By pressing Shift key, select shirt body and then Unite. And select this stitching line and delete because it's not useful now. Yoke is deleted now, Now I merge this collar with the shirt body So double click again and then select this collar by pressing Shift key select this body and then Unite. So it will merge now and change the Fill color. Now I make some changes, I create a line here to divide this collar and shirt body and create a yoke line here by using line tool. By pressing Shift key, you can create a straight line and zoom a little bit and modify. OK, I think there is some problem, so I move this upside and delete this extra point. By using Pen tool. And place this line on the proper position. And create another line for yoke. No, I select all three shapes and then applied the Divide tool. Divide tool is applied now click outside first and then select right click. Arrange and send to Backward. I stitching line here, so I switched to direct selection tool. select this node, Ctrl+C and Ctrl+F. Move upside by using a arrow key, and then this stroke parameter by using Eyedropper tool. So I click on the stitching line, so this property will copy here, same as add stitching line here, so I select this stroke first. Ctrl+C, Ctrl+F and then move in the down side. choose Eyedropper tool again. And then pick stock properties. OK. Same as you can also add a stitching line here, or you can manually create by using Line tool. Double click outside to exit from the editing mode. Now, I create a placket here, so double click And create a rectangle. change, the stroke parameters. No, I create a point in center by using Pen tool. And create a triangle effect. Now, I delete this segment, so I select this and then delete. For creating a stitching line, I create a copy and then scale down, so press Ctrl+C, Ctrl+F then scale down by pressing Alt key. And pick the stroke parameter. Now, I move this little bit down by using arrow key and then select this point. And then move down side. So deselect first and then select again and then move a little bit up side OK stitching line is created By clicking on this icon, you can fix the problem if you face on the corner. OK, like this. Now I make a group. And then place here. Rotate this little bit. You can also use Rotate tool, it's also available here, so click here because it's a pinpoint and by using this pinpoint, we rotate this. I think there is a fill color, so click on the No color. OK, and move a little bit up side Now, I make some changes, I extend this line by using direct selection tool And then click to select this point first and then extend. OK, same as I extend this is stitching line Click to select first and then move, I think Click. Point is selected now and then click and drag. OK, and then select this button. And move here. Now, this sleeve is created Now I delete this and replace it with this, so I select this and then click on the center. By using Alt key, Copy Double click to exit from the editing mode. So backside of this side is complete now. Now I hide this template, so I go to layer tab and then hide this template layer. And then placed in a proper way. OK, or you can also place like this. And then scale up. It's a final view of our button-down shirt. I hope you like this. 6. 4 1 Understanding Skirt hem Pattern: In this class, we learn how to draw a skirt before start drawing. Let's talk about basics of fabric, how it's drop. some students face difficulty To get this nice smooth look in Illustrator and they try to create this with the easy way. I show you some skirt so you can understand. I go to Layer tab and then on the visibility of second layer. And these are some skirt designs this called waistline or West Belt and this called Hem line and these are other design of skirts, but we focus to create this type of pattern. Drawing of this skirt is very simple because a smooth line in the bottom and in this example, you can see waveform in the hem line, but fabric not follow this way. So it's not a correct way to draw a skirt. And this is another example. It's called knife plated skirt, and it's also similar. First, I show you how you can draw this type of a skirt. So first I choose line tool or you can create a straight line by using Pen tool. First, I on this layer. I think I create a new layer. Now I create a line by using Shift key, so it will create straight. And then switch to selection tool and deselect. In the last class, we create a point and move in the down side and then provide a curvature. So it's a lengthy process. I show you another tool and this tool available here in the scale tool category. Click on this last tool Reshaping tool, then click in the center and then track. I think line is not selected. Now I switch to a selection tool by pressing Ctrl key and select this. And when you release ctrl key reshaping tool will appear again and then click in the center and then drag. So a smooth curve is created by using Reshaping tool. By using this curve, you can create this A-Line skirt, and if you want to create this type of wave pattern. so I show you I create a duplicate copy by pressing Alt and drag and then go to Effect's. Distort and transform effect, Zig Zag. And choose smooth, so smooth wave pattern is created here. Now I change the No. I increased a little bit and changed the height. I think it's. It's perfect. Click on the OK button, so this type of pattern is created with the very easy steps. Now I select these and delete. Now I show you how you can draw this Hem pattern with the easy step. So I on this layer and here you can see. Two expressions, one is a Smile, these are smile patterns and these are Frowns. And by creating a connection line, you can draw this pattern with the very easy way. In the next class, we draw this skirt. 7. 4 2 Skirt Drawing: Now I start drawing skirt So first a place skirt template, I go to File menu > Place and then select this is skirt template and click on the template checkbox and then Place. I zoom little-bit and by using this template, I create pattern. So first I create skirt body By using Pen tool I create first point here, then second point. Third point. And then press in Enter key to exit from the creation, you can switch to convert anchor points tool by pressing Alt key and the select this point first. And then click and drag and create smoothness. And then switch to Selection tool, deselect first and then select again and now create a duplicate copy in the left side. So select, Reflect tool and then press Alt key and then click on the center line. So a duplicate copy is created by using vertical radio button. Click on the copy. Now I choose Pen tool again and create Hem line. So I zoom little bit. In the bottom of Pen tool icon, you can see Aster con, but when you hover your mouse on the point, you can see a backslaps icon is display So click on this point and then start creating a Zig Zag line by using this template. So first point, second point. This point with the different distance. When you hover your mouse on this point, so a circle will appear, then click on this point, so it will close now. Now I click on the No color button, so Fill color will gone. Pen tool is still selected, now press Alt key to toggle between Convert Anchor Point Tool and Pen Tool, so select this point by using Convert Anchor Point Tool and then click and drag till the bottom point and then release. Same as I Click on this point by pressing Alt key and then click and drag. till the bottom point. Same as I click and drag to all the point, and this time this point is get first. Same as now, I select bottom point. And then click and drag. And it should be a straight. Pattern is created, and if you want to modify a little-bit, you can choose direct selection tool and then modify. And change the height little bit. Now, I Fill with white color. And zoom out little-bit, Now I create a new layer and create vertical lines for fold. and Lock this Layer So I choose Pen tool, make sure there is No color, so I click on this icon and then create line. Press Enter key then create second Otherwise, it creates in continuation Enter again. By using direct selection tool, fix some problems. Now select all the lines and then make a Group. Now, I apply triangle profile on this, so go to property tab Stroke > Profile and then select this triangle profile. I think there is no connection. So. I select this. And then right click Join, so connection is created. Now, I add a point in the mid and. create smoothness here Now, I select this Ctrl+C, Ctrl+F and then move down Fill with no color and then scale little-bit Move a little bit Up side. Now, a select both shape It should be intersected. And then Divide Ok, divide tool is applied now. Deselect, select again and Ungroup Skirt is created now I add more detail first I add stitching line here, so I lock this vertical line. And then select these points by using Lasso selection tool. Then Ctrl+C, Ctrl+F and move in the up side. Fill with No color, I think. One more point should be selected. So I select this and move. OK. And then, change the stroke parameters and choose dash line. 2 in the dash and 2 in the gap and stroke width should be .25 And round cap and round corner, so it will look like is stitch. A little bit downside. OK, Now I add more detail, so I choose Line tool and create a Line by pressing D key apply default. Copy in the right side Now, it's like this is skirt body and these two lines. And apply divide tool stitching line is gone, so select this. I think, yes, it's selected. Right click arrange > send to back. And you can ungroup also. Now I select this stroke And then Ctrl+C, Ctrl+F Right click and choose Join and create a point here by using Pen tool When+ icon appear, move in the upside. And by using convert anchor point tool create the smoothness. and Fill with black, because we want to show hollow area. Now I select all the shapes. And then click on the round corner. Filled with no color. And then select again and divide. Select again and ungroup first. Now I choose Line tool and create Zip here, in the center and by using rectangle tool. create a stitching line .25 in the stroke. click in the dash line checkbox and click on the second icon. And scale down a little bit, I think. OK. Now it's perfect. Now I show you final results, so first off this template. I think these folds not copy in the left side because this layer was locked, so first I unlock this and then select and make a copy. Align to center. So it's our final result. 8. 5.1 Apply Texture On T-Shirt: In the first class, we draw this T-Shirt front and back and, in this class, we apply texture on it. So first I make some changes. I select this T- Shirt and check. It's a group or not Right click and choose Ungroup. And same as I select and right click Ungroup Now select T-Shirt body and sleeves and fill with different colors. So I start from the body and then click on the Fill icon and then choose a light color, same as I select T-Shirt sleeve And this time I use Eyedropper tool and pick this color by pressing Ctrl key. You can switch to a Selection tool. And then select this second sleeve when you release Ctrl key Eyedropper tool will come again and then pick this color, same as I select this T-Shirt body and pick color. OK, and there is some problem, this stitching line filled with white color, so select this and Fill with No color. Now, I select and make a duplicate copy by pressing Alt and drag. First, make these changes and then place texture to apply on the T-shirt, so I go to File menu. Place and then pick this texture. Click and drag and create a window, so texture is placed in this area. Now I select this texture and create a duplicate copy, because I want to show you two different methods applying texture on the T-Shirt. In the first method, I create a pattern by using this texture image and then apply on the t- shirt front and back. So first you have to place Swatches panel on the artboard. So I go to Windows menu and then click on the Swatches and then place these Swatches Panel on the corner. Now I select this texture image and then click-and-drag and drop in, the swatches panel, A new box is created, it's a pattern and then select this T-Shirt body and then click on this color swatch. So this pattern apply on the T-Shirt body, same as you can also apply on the back side. And apply on the sleeve also, or you can also use Eyedropper tool so I select all the sleep and then choose eyedropper tool and then click on the t-shirt body. So same texture pick and apply on the sleeve. I think texture size is little bigger and need to scale down so first select this t-shirt body and then Right click and choose, Transform and then click on the Scale option. Scale panel is display here and make sure Transform Object checkbox is unchecked and then click on the Transform Pattern checkbox and in the Uniform radio button you can scale down the pattern size I choose 75% And then click on the next checkbox so it will update and make sure Preview check box is selected and then click on the Ok button. So pattern size is scale down, Now I update other place by using Eyedropper tool, so first select this and then choose a Eyedropper tool and then click on the texture. So this will update here. And by pressing Ctrl key I select sleeves and then pick this texture. So by using Eyedropper tool, you can pick a color and pattern also. So it's a first way of applying texture and it's also a very easy way to apply texture. In the second method, I placed this image on the t-shirt, so it's a different matter in this method. First, create to duplicate copy. overlap the t-shirt and then change the order by pressing Ctrl+[ This image plain is selected and click on the Layer panel and expand this layer. So this image placed here. And by pressing Ctrl+[ It will go down. OK, and same as I select this image and then change the order by pressing Ctrl+[ and by pressing Ctrl+] you can move in the upside, like this. So I press [ with the Ctrl key to change the order in the down, Now I switch to property tab again. and then select this image and by present Shift key, select this t-shirt body and make sure this t-shirt is ungrouped and then go to Object. Clipping Mask and then click on the Make and keyboard shortcut is Ctrl+7 By using Clipping Mask tool, this image plane crop by the t-shirt body, but there is a problem outline is gone, so select this and then click on the stock. and then apply. 1 stock width OK, same as I Fill a solid color on the sleeve, so I select this, and this time I pick a color from this image and I choose this orange color and apply this stock. And then select second sleeve and press Ctrl key and select and pick the same color. With the same method, applied texture on the t-shirt back so first select this image and then select, t-shirt back by pressing Shift key and then go to Object Clipping Mask and keyboard shortcut is Ctrl+7 texture place in the inside of t-shirt body. Now I pick the stroke width, so I select this and choose Eyedropper tool and then pick the stroke width same as I apply this color on the sleeve. So click, select and then click by using Eyedropper tool so color also update if you want to scale down the texture size, double click on this. Now you are inside the editing mode and you can select this image and move. But in case if you want to make a duplicate copy and then scale down. So double click once again and now you can select this picture and then scale down and make duplicate copy by pressing Alt and Shift OK, zoom little-bit. And place perfectly and then select both image and then click and drag and place perfectly. OK, so. This shape is complete now, and if you want to release the editing, just double click on the outside. Now you can see texture is updated and same as I select this Double Click once again and then scale down. Make a duplicate copy. And plays perfectly by zoom scale down, and create another copy. OK, I think we have to move a little-bit down side Actually, we have to scale up this. OK. And then double click outside to exit from the editing mode. So by using this method, you can also apply texture and scale down. And it's the final result of our T-shirt. 9. 5.2 Apply Texture On Button Down Shirt: In this class, we learn how to make pattern in Illustrator by using Pattern Tool. for pattern creation I placed some icons a Birds, Sun and a House, and by using these icons, we create a custom pattern and a color swatch, we use this color for shirt background. So first, I make some changes in the Layer panel, so I go to layer tab and I show you in this layer these these icons and colors swatch is placed. so you can check. And in this layer, shirt front and back is placed. So first I create two duplicate copy of this Shirt layer, by click and drag into New button. So click and drag and duplicate copy of this layer is created. First, I off the visibility for this copy layer. and then select this original layer and change the shirt background color. So first I select this and ungroup. Select again and check it's a group or not. So Ungrouped again. Same as I like this back and ungroup and check once again. OK, so Ungroup process is complete. Now I select this shirt body, choose eyedropper tool and then pick this color. this color. Shirt body color is update now, but a stroke is gone. So I go to property tab and then change the stock parameter. I choose 1 point and same as I Fill this color on the sleeve, caller and yoke. So first select this sleeve. Pick Eyedropper tool. And by pressing Ctrl key, you can toggle between Eyedropper tool and Selection tool, so by using selection tool select this and pick this color. I zoom little-bit and select Yoke. Collar, I think Collar is in a group, so right click or you can double click also, but you are not able to pick this color, so double click outside and select this color, double click on the full color and choose this color code. Copy OK, and then select this Collar, double click on this. Now select this stitching line, make sure it's Fill with no color. And zoom little-bit, and now I select this. Collar, double click on the. Fill color, paste this color code. so this color will update now. Same as I update color for this, so I select this pick this color. I think it should be a little dark. So double click on this and choose a dark shade. OK. And double click outside to exit from the editing mode and select this staging line and filled with no color. And same as I select this, Fill with no color. And replace the color for this. Now, I like this button and choose a dark color for buttons. OK, same as I replace color for shirt back like this. Fill with this color press Ctrl key. Select and replace color. Now I select these buttons. And pick this color. Same as I select this and replace. And replace this collar color also. Shirt color is update now. Now I select these and make a group so right click and choose Group. Same as I select this and make a group. And it's time to create a pattern, so select all three icons. I zoom little-bit and then go to Object > Pattern, click on the Make. A notification is display here, the new pattern has been added to swatches panel, swatches panel also automatically open click on the OK button in this rectangle. These are original icon and these are repeated copy of this pattern. I zoom out a little bit. And these are repeated copy. And you can control the number of repeated copies by this parameter Copies by default, 5x5 is selected, or you can also choose 3x3 or 7x7 and other option also available. I choose default 5x5 grid. And in the other parameter Tile type, by default Grid is selected. So this I can arrange into a grid form and you can also choose other pattern. Brick and Hex also available here for row and column. If you want to increase the spacing between these icons so you can choose height and weight parameter, make sure this link is checked and then click here and increase the value by a scroll wheel. So spacing is increased. Now. After make all these changes, click on the Done button to create a pattern when you click on this, a new icon is displayed here and it's a pattern. Now, I own the second layer. So I go to Layer panel and then on this. Now I off this bottom layer and make some changes here and delete duplicate object, first I delete this button Ungroup first. So. So it's the final result of our button down shirt with the custom pattern. 10. 6 1 Drawing Croquis Pt01: In this class, we draw Croque by using Pen Tool So, first I talk about Pen Tool. So it's a very easy tool for a beginner, but we use original Pen tool to trace croque. So first I exit from this tool by pressing Esc key and then delete this. So first I select this and then delete by pressing Del key. Now is like Pen tool and right click. on this tool and then click on this thick line and place this tool in the corner. Now I choose Pen tool and create a path and these tool for modify a path. So first I create a path. Click on the first point, then click on the second point if you want to create a linear line. By pressing Shift key , you can create a straight line, and if you want to create a curvature, click and drag, the curvature is created. In this way, if you want to create a sharp turn here, just click on the last point, single click curvature is break now and you can create a linear line by pressing Shift key or without Shift key. And if you want to create a curvature again, click and hold and then drag in the opposite direction. If you want to create a curvature in the left side, click and drag in the right side. Now I close this path by clicking on the start point. A circle appear to indicate path is closed now. If you want to modify this path, you have to add some point on the path or delete some point When your hover your mouse on the path. This I can automatically switch to add anchor point tool. or if you hover your mouse on a point, this turn into the delete anchor point tool. So first I add some point. When this plus I can appear. So I add three point here, and if you want to move outside, use that Direct Selection Tool. Create a window selection and then click and drag outside, if you want to create a creature on this point choose convert anchor point tool click and drag to create a curvature. Now I select legs with the intersecting line and then click on these three dot in the Pathfinder tool and click on the Divide tool OK, now divide tool applied on the legs, now right click and choose ungroup Now you can select individually and fill with different color. With these steps, you can trace croquis. For time saving, I already traced this, I show you. First I off this layer and on these layers one by one. And first I draw Hair. And then Body and these Hands Legs. Shoes, I divide these shoes from legs by using Pathfinder > Divide tool Dress. Bow, it's a design element for this skirt or dress. And then face. In this Face layer, I also copy this hand and paste and place because in the layer order, this hand on the top of this dress. This is a tracing order, and by using this order, you can draw this croque. In the next class We fill color 11. 6.2 Drawing Croquis Pt02: In this class, we fill color and apply texture. So first I load swatches panel on the artboard, I go to Windows menu and then click on the switches. And place in the sidebar by click and drag and then click on this, swatches icon so it will expand. First, I load skin color. So I click on the swatches library button and then click on the skintone. And place here, these are skintone color swatches, you can choose any color shade from here, but first I start from the hair color, so I select this hair shape and then fill with dark brown color. Make sure outline color in the bottom and fill color on the top, so I click on the fill color and then pick this fill color for hair. Now I select face and fill with this skin tone and same as I select other shapes. And this time I use eyedropper tool to pick this color. And also change fill color for this duplicate hand copy, so I choose eyedropper tool, and It's updated Now I fill color in the shoes. So select these by pressing Shift key and then double click on the full color and choose black color from here. ok, so shoes color also updated. There is some problem with these stroke, so first I zoom little-bit and select all these stroke by pressing Shift key. And click on the No Color in the Fill. And change the stroke parameter, so I click on the stroke and change this profile and I choose this profile. OK, and full texture button on the dress, I already prepared texture for this dress, so I select this and then click on the switches panel again and these two switches I create for texturing. I click on this. Fill texture in both, so like these elements, one by one, by pressing Shift key and then choose a different texture for this. By using eye dropper tool, you can pick texture. And select this. Fill with this texture, ok In-case texture size is small or big, so like this, Right click Transform > Scale and make sure transform object checkbox is unselected. And here you can change the scale value I show you. Make sure Preview checkbox is selected. You can change scaling for this texture and then click on the OK button. Same as if you want to scale down texture in this bow So select this element, Right click choose a Scale. And then unchecked Transform object and scale down. And by using eyedropper tool, you can update this texture. Now, I fix some problem in these strokes, so select all stroke by using Shift key And then fill with no color. Texture and Fill color is updated, and it's time to fine tune this drawing. first I replace these strokes because black is not look very nice. First I off this template layer So I go to layer panel and off this template. Now I choose magic wand tool and select all skin elements by clicking on this and then open swatches panel And fill with this edge with the dark brown color. OK. Now, I add eyes, nose and lips, so this model looked better. I already create a template for this, I show you. You can cut this shape from cartoon character by using Photoshop, so a piece on the face. OK, now it's look better. I perfectly placed. I think this lip should be in the bottom side OK, now it's look better. It's a final result of crooked design template. Now you can create your project and share with me. 12. 7 1 Drawing The Lapels: In this class, we learn how you can draw this jacket and these are the part name of this jacket. Drawing method is almost same as button down cert. First, we have to draw this color stand and then we draw this fall area. In case if you want to apply no color, you can click on this icon and then we have to change this outline color. I fill red color in this outline, you can choose any bright color, and then go to layer panel and log this layer. You can also rename this. I rename this layer guideline and then create a new layer. We can draw this jacket in the new layer. Now I switch to property button again. After draw these guidelines, now we start drawing color, and the drawing method is same as button down set. First, you have to select this rectangle tool and then click and hold on the old key and then click on the center line. Then click and drag, create a rectangle like this. It should be overlap a little bit. In case if you want to move this little bit downside, you can use up or down arrow key and for scaling a jom little bit and then scale down a little bit. Now we have to apply curvature shape on these top and bottom segment. First, we have to select these by using direct selection tool. You can click here or you can also select with the click and drag method. For applying shape on this segment, you have to select reshape tool, this tool available here. Click and drag upside and apply curvature like this. Same as you have to select this segment also. Press control key and then click and drag create a window selection. Then click and hold and move upside when this dot appear. I say we created like this. Now we draw fall and label area. This time I choose Pen tool. I want to start creating fall from this point. I click here, and then I click second point on this corner. Third point on this guideline, little bit upside, and then click fourth point in this area to define how wide this fall should be and then click on the start point. If you want to reshape this select direct selection tool, and then select this point with the window selection, and then click and drag You can modify this shape in this way, or in case if I want to apply a smoothness on this corner, you can use this corner pin and apply smoothness in this way. In case these corners are not properly joined, you can use Pen tool and then delete these extra point by clicking Now we have to move these point in this area. I choose direct selection tool and then create a window selection. Then click and drag and place here. Same as I select this and then place here. Now you can paste this color so you can use this tool in the edit menu, paste in place. Now we have to change the order. I right click here and then choose arrange ten to backward. Now we draw lapel area. I choose Pen tool and then start creating from this point. Second point, we have to create in this area. Third point on this guideline and close this. Now we have to apply smoothness on this corner, so I choose direct selection tool and then apply little bit roundness. Now we have to reflect this. I click outside and then select this by using selection tool. By using reflect tool, I create a reflect copy. In case position of this repeal is a little bit outside, you can place this manually. The second thing is this, we have to train this notch. First I select this. You can use Eraser tool or you can also create two point in this area by using Pen tool and then delay this point. I click here, then I click here under the color fall area. Third click should be a little bit outside from the shoulder point because we create this jacket a little bit wider than the template. When we draw a button down shot, we create a point here and then give a curvature. But this time I create a linear line. After doing this sleeve, now we have to add one more detail that is Princes cut. I choose Pen tool and then create a path like this. First create a basic path like this, and then we apply roundness. First, we have to remove fill color so we can see the detail, then switch to direct selection tool and click on this point and then apply roundness, like this. Same as I click on this point and create a roundness. Now we cut this front in two parts, create a window selection like this. This path and jacket front got selected. Then click on these three line in the path finder, and then click on the divide. Divide is applied. Now, right click. First select this, then right click this option also available here. Click on the N group. Now this part cut into two pieces, press Control jet. Now create a window selection like this. These two part and the sleep got selected. Now we have to apply Reflect. I select reflect tool, then right click, then click on the center line with Alt key, and then click on the copy button. Jacket front got created. Then create a window selection like this. All the jacket pieces got selected, then we have to change the order. So right click and choose arrange sent to back, keyboard shortcut also mentioned there. Now we have to modify this point a little bit, so I choose direct selection tool, then click on this point and then place here. With these EG step, we draw jacket front and it's time to add more details like buttons, pocket, and stretching lines. First I add button in this jacket, so I choose elliptical tool and then create a button by pressing swift key and then move a little bit upside. You can use arrow keys for this type movement. Then create two more buttons, press Alt key and then click and rag. If you're not able to select, oom it a little bit and then click and drag by pressing swift and Alt key, create a duplicate copy and then press Control D to repeat this command. Three buttons are created in case if you want to move these buttons little bit left side. Use arrow keys. Same as I move a little bit. Now I have to fill this area also. I choose pen tool. You can create a rectangle also, but I fill this area with the help of pen tool, create a shape like this. And then change the layer order. Press right click and then choose range and then send to back. Same as I have to place a shape here also, so it looks like a cert. This time, I choose rectangle tool and then create a rectangle from this corner to this corner, and we have to create a curvature here also. First, we have to select direct selection tool and then select this segment. I click here, and for creating a curvature, I choose reshape tool, A curvature shape is created, then we have to change the order also, right click again, and you can also use these keyboard sort cut. Now we have to move these points also. I click here and then move a little bit upside. Front side of this jacket is completed. Now we create backside also. 14. 7 3 Sleeves and Jacket Back Design: But first, I have to make some changes in the shape. I select direct selection tool and then select this vertex and move a little bit outside by pressing arrow keys, same as I select this point and then move outside. Now I have to move this corner a little bit outside, so I create a window selection like this, then move outside, one, two, three, same as I select here also, and move one, two, three point. Now I create a window selection. First, I switch to move tool and create a window selection, and then right click and create a group, and then create a duplicate copy. First I move this in the left side and then create a duplicate copy here. If you want to go inside the group, double click here and first select these buttons. If you want to select multiple object on the screen, press sift key and then click, so you can select multiple object, then right click. Group. Now I move this outside. We will use these buttons for sleeve. Then I have to remove this color also, create a window selection like this. This collar and these two pieces also get selected. Then unite them. I click on this icon, so all the shapes will collapse. In the bottom side, you have to remove this extra point, so choose pen tool and then click here. So this curve will remove like this. Or another thing that you can do, you can select these shapes, create a window selection like this. Then click on the divide button and then ungroup them, right click and choose n group. I think we have to select this first, then right click n group, select these shapes and unite them, same as, select these and unite again and unite. This shape will be created like this. Now we have to add color line here, so I choose line tool and then click and drag by present shift key. A straight line will be created like this. Now select this line by click and then move in the downside little bit, and then select direct selection tool and then click here. By choosing reshape tool. I click here and then move a little bit upside. A curvature will be created like this. I select this point and move a little bit downside, same as I select this point also and move a little bit downside. This type shape will be created. Same as I have to create a center stretching line also. First, I divide this shape into two pieces. Click on the divide and then right click. I think we have to select first and then ungroup first. And create a center line here. You can use Pen tool or you can use line tool also create a center line like this.
