Journey

My grandfather encouraged us to paint Goddess Laxmi on the wall during Diwali; this is my oldest memory of my creative self. I never dreamt of being an artist, but as a kid, I was always inclined toward painting and even participated in various school-level competitions. I'm from Patna, India, and almost every child goes for engineering or medical. I was no different. I completed my engineering in Information technology in Indore and moved to Pune to work as a software engineer. I worked in top IT companies for a decade, and suddenly, the forgotten love for art came back, searching for me. I started my journey as an artist in early 2019 and eventually became a full-time artist in 2022.

1. About The Class: As said by Richie Norton, every sunset is an opportunity to reset. Sunsets are one of the world's greatest wonders. Their beauty is almost too magical for us to understand. The warm, vibrant array of colors simply leave us in an awe every time they appear to us. Hello, friends. My name is Mohini Cena and I'm an acrylic artist past India. I mostly do landscape painting and animals and bird portrait painting. Many of you know me as Mohini Art Gallery from my Instagram account. In this class, we'll be painting this sunset painting. And we'll go through first the materials which will be needed. Brushes, colors, everything. Then we'll start with the blending of the colors. We'll first to the blocking of background, then the foreground. Step by step, every technique we'll be learning. Then the sun part. Then we'll learn how to paint beautiful clouds, some magical trees, and then the grasses. Without wasting our time, let's begin with this beautiful painting of sunset. 2. Materials Required: Welcome back. Let's discuss about the materials which we'll be needing. First, let's discuss about the colors. The black violet, lemon yellow, fluorescent red, orange, winsor, blue and white. These are the colors and the brushes which we'll be needing. Here is the flat brush, This flat brush fill Bristol brush and this simple rigger brush. Apart from that, we'll be needing this blender brush and Filbert brush as well. For the clouds. This is the container which we'll be needing for water palette pencil, this masking tape rubber, then this cotton cloth and this palette. These are the things which we'll be needing for doing this entire painting. The base which we'll be needing here, this is the base, which is the canvas. This is a canvas which is on the MD of board. This is the canvas which I have used here and I have Pm 23 times before using it. 3. Blocking Background: Hello all, welcome back. Let's start with first the sketching. Now this is the canvas board, which I have already primed 23 times. This I've already prepared. And now we'll use the masking tape, which I'll put one third of it straight in the horizontal direction. Just putting the masking tape just for the straight horizontal line. If you don't have masking tape, you can just draw a line with it. It's perfectly fine. Let's create some of the drawings first. The background trees which are at a very far distance, very rough sketch. I'm doing just a little bit of background tree formations. Then I'll create a little grassy effect, which is the grass area on the water side. That's it for the drawing. We'll not do too much of drawing in this first. We'll do the background, then the foreground, and then the detailing. This is a process which we'll be doing not much of drawing, is there a little bit of drawing is there? Basically, we'll do more of the painting. The drawing, these are the land area in between water, the center has the sun in between. The center part where I'll put the sun, just a round circle. I will create just for the reference part so that the center part is the sun area. You can call it a sunset or a sun, right? Whatever you feel like. It's a mesmerizing sun rise painting. These are the colors which we'll be using. Let's discuss about the colors, that is the black, fluorescent red, Windsor blue, cadmium orange, lemon yellow, and white. These are the colors which we'll be using. Let's start with first the background. Now you can see for the background, I'm using flat brush. According to the size of your canvas, you have to use your flat brush. If your canvas is bigger in size, use bigger size flat brush. My canvas is five to seven, my brushes are small enough. I think it's a half inch brush. Let's mix white, more of white and less of blue. And I'm just mixing it. I'll add a little bit of this red also in it to become a little purplish shade. Just adding a little bit of red to it. Just mixing it with my brush. You can also mix with your palette if you have, if you're not comfortable mixing it with your brush, it's just to have mixed it and taken a lot of amount of color in this that it becomes quite a muted color. It is, it's like, it's not very dark color, it's much of a bluish, pinkish shade. As you can see, you can just like a pastel color. Also you can say it's like a pastel color, which I'm making it then first I'll apply on the top end, middle is a little yellow and as we go down it's more of an orange and red mix. Likewise, the color will go on. First, I'm starting take thick amount of color when you are using it. And start from the above part, moving in the horizontal direction first covering this blue part. Now the base is very important which base you are using. You can use paper also, you can use MDF board. Also, you can use canvas whatever base you like you can use. Here is my canvas board, which I have already primed 23 times. Now you can see one third I have painted with blue. Now I'll paint with yellow. It's more of a yellow, orange shade. We'll first wash off my brush. So just washing off my brush and I'll just take very little amount of water on your brush. Just that much water is required for painting. I'm not taking extra water just on my brush. The water is there and that much amount of water, I'm using it. So you don't have to take extra water on your colors. Just the water on your brush is more than enough for the whole painting. Now you can see I've mixed a very little amount of this orange color. It's like very minute. And a little bit of blue is added to it. And I'm just trying to blend the color. Always make sure that when you're blending the colors, the color should go from light to dark. That means from yellow to blue, it should go, it should not go from blue to yellow, otherwise, the whole thing will turn into green. This thing you have to keep in your mind when you are doing it. Every time, wash off your brush to take a new color. Now again, I'm washing my brush, taking orange mix in this and white mix in this. Then again, I'm applying a little bit of lemon yellow to it. And then again, I'm putting the color Likewise, you have to do the whole background painting and start blending the color as well when you're blending the color. Don't go very far beyond just to the borderline where the two colors are mixing. Just try to blend the colors properly. Now you can see how pastel colors are coming up. Now we will use a little bright color because this is the sunrise painting and we need a little bright color here. I'm using this fluorescent red and orange mix to make it a little bright color in that same mix. And then I'll start applying it in the horizontal direction. You can see I am simultaneously blending the color as well. Now I'm just taking orange and lemon yellow mix and just applying this color over here to the area. I'm trying to blend the colors. Also, now you can see there's a line there. Just wash off your brush, remove excess of water, and then try to blend the colors. Just remove excess of water, just wiping it off. And then try to blend that part. Now you can see how the blending is being performed from light to dark. That's how you have to move every time whenever you are doing the background especially, we'll do one more coat of it once it is dry. Let's do first the lower foreground, and then we'll do the background again because we need a little brighter color. So first we have set what all colors we need to use. Now we'll do the lower background part. Foreground part. Let's start with the foreground first. This is orange. That is red and orange mix. It's quite bright color as you can see in the image. First, I'm applying this color, then as we go down, it's more of a purplish shade. This is not a purple shade. What we'll do is we'll take the violet color separate, and then we'll start doing it just taking a separate violet. And then we'll start mixing the colors. Now let's start with this little violet mix and white mix. Then I'll just apply the color to the other side of the water part. Here what I'm doing is I'm not taking much care about the blending part. I'm just adding the colors. Wall colors will suit in this water part. Just adding a little blue to this violet and just covering the entire area. He also, we'll be doing at least one more coat of fit. Not to worry, but whenever you are doing second coat, make sure that the first coat has completely dried, then only do the second coat. What I'm doing here, I'm just applying the colors and trying to blend it so that when we do second coat, the blending is perfect. Now a little bit more darker versions by adding a little blue to it and a little white to it. Also, the first coat of the background and the foreground is almost done, and we'll do again the second coat of it once this both have dried completely. 4. Final Blocking: So welcome back. So now let's start with the second coat. Now, my first coat has completely dried. Just touch and see if it's not coming into your hand, it's not sticky, then it's completely dried. Now once it is dried, we'll apply second coat on it. Now, second code will be almost same color, a little brighter than that, the first one. First I'm using this Ns blue and white mix. If you don't have vinsorblue color, you can use errealum blue because it is similar to that, just mixing this color properly with my palette. If you don't want to use palette, you can always use your brush for mixing it. Just taking a little bit of this violet, also mixing it further. Now this is the second coat which we'll be putting. We need to take care of everything, the blending part, and how we need to blend. Make sure that you take lots of color on your brushes when you are applying the colors. Because when you apply thick colors, the colors will not dry it faster. It will take time to dry for blending process, you have to apply thick colors, especially for acrylics. First, I'm applying the first bluish color, that first layer of color. You can see just moving the brush in the horizontal direction and applying thick coat of this bluish color. And then I will apply the light color, that is the yellowish color. Just applying it properly so that nothing is missed when you're applying it, don't press your brush, apply it very softly so that there are no brush marks on it. Now, I'm just washing off my brush and we'll use the second color because the second color is quite different color than the first color. First, taking a little bit of orange, a little bit of blue mix in this and white. Also. Mixing part is important over here when you are using this three background color, especially yellow and blue. If t it reacts, it becomes green which we don't want how to use. And how much ratio to use is important when you are using such type of vibrant colors. Now I've just taken more of this, white and orange the same color. Taking a little bit more of orange in this and mixing with it. And white just applying a layer of this color first. Just applying it in the horizontal direction. Moving this color a little in upward direction, and trying to blend it, both the colors. Now, both the colors will only blend if both the colors are wet. If one of the color has dried up, then again apply that second layer of that color and then start blending. Because whenever you are blending the colors, now I have just wash off my brush, remove excess of water, and I'm just blending it. You can see how I'm doing the blending part where the two colors are joining. Now we'll go further below. And same process, we'll repeat with much darker orange color, orange and white mix and a little bit of lemon yellow to it. There's a little blue in this. I'll just wash off my brush. And again, I will take that color. Again, this orange and yellow mix, a little bit of white, just taking this color. And again, I'm applying on to the third layer, which is a little more brighter color than the second layer. I'm just moving the brush in the to and fro directions, in the horizontal direction. I'm just trying to blend those colors. Again, I'll just wash off my brush, remove excess of water, and I will try to blend the line between these two color here, I'm using a little white to it and I'm trying to blend because as we move towards the blue side, it becomes greenish, which we don't want. I'm just adding a little white to it to make it more bright color. Now I'll use a bright color than the orange, because here I'll add fluorescent red and orange mix. Then I will apply the last layer a little bit of white to make it more opaque. And I will apply to the lower part and I will start blending it. This is how you have to move when you're using these layers of different colors. 5. Painting Sun: Hello all. Welcome back. Our background is complete now let's start with our foreground, which is the river part. Let's start with it. We are using the same color, but a little bit of more brighter version. Let's start with the blocking First first blocking we have done, now we are doing the second blocking to smooth in the painting. Let's start with the second blocking. Here I'm using my flat brush again, same brush, taking this fluorescent red and orange mix. First applying on the top because that area is quite bright, because the sun rays are directly falling on that. Now I'm just mixing a little bit of white and this purple mix and applying in the lower part. Also, I'm blending the colors simultaneously and do it very softly. When you're doing the blending part. Don't press your brush, just use it very soft pressure on your brush and try to blend it. Then only that perfect blend will come up. If you will press your brush, that blending will not be proper and there will be brush marks. Again, I'm just mixing the same color and applying on the other side of the water and trying to blend with this orange part Slowly, slowly. I'm trying to move towards the end. The end is a little bit more bluish. I will add a little more blue towards this. But first, let's blend this part where the two colors are mixing. I'm adding a little white to it, but here you can see there is a brush mark. So I'm just washing off my brush and removing excess of water. That's by wiping it with my cloth and just taking the same color. And again, doing the same thing, just blending it. Because blending will only happen when both the colors are wet. Just trying to blend those colors. Now again, I'm taking this violet and a little bit white mix a little bit blue in this. Just taking a little more of violet and applying into the lower part, my violet has finished. I'll just take it a little bit more of violet. And then I will again start with the lower part because we need a little violet more than that of blue. Because we don't want totally it to be bluish color. It's mix of violet and blue. If you don't have violet, you can mix cadmium red to blue and it will turn into a little bit of violet color. Or you can use ulti, marine blue and red mix, it will give a perfect violet color look. Likewise, I'm just trying to blend the colors and these portions I have left, because these are the land area which we'll be doing for the upcoming part. You can see this upper part, the background, and the foreground is done. Now we'll proceed further, but a little bit of blue, is there a little whitish blue is there on the upper part where the background and foreground is joining? We'll do that as well. Now let's do the land area which is there. We can use size flat brush also. And we can use the same flat brush which we were doing earlier. It depends upon our choice. Here, I'm using smaller size flat brush. I'm just mixing a little red to this black and we'll cover this area, which is the land part. Just a normal painting, which I'm just giving the shape, which is already covered with the color and just blocking it with the same red and black mixed color. Similarly, we'll do the other two land part which is there in the Riverside. Just remember one thing in mind that whenever you are using acrylic paints, take thick colors. When you are trying to blend the colors. When you are doing any detailing part, any lining part, the color has to be a little fluid, just these two things. When you are doing the blending, you have to make sure that both the colors are wet. Then only you will be able to blend the colors. If one color has been dried up, then you again add that layer of color and then blend it. Otherwise, the blending will not happen and it will create a line in between these small things you have to keep in mind when you are doing such landscape painting especially. Just block in this whole area which is the land part. We'll do a little more of this detailing further, but I have just covered the land part first with black and red color. Now we'll do the sun part also where there's a bright sun in between. Let's start with the sun part. Here you can see I've taken my blender brush now. This is the Princeton blender brush of smaller size. It's just taking this white color first and giving a round shape to it, which I've already drawn, but it's very lightly reflected. I'm just creating a round shape of the sun with just white color, a little bit of yellow mix on the borders just to give a little shape to it. If you don't have this blender brush, you can use your round brush for doing such thing. Use a smaller size round brush for creating such round shape, just giving a little more round shape to it. Now this sun part is actually very important. When we are doing and take thick colors, you can see my brush is completely dry. I haven't put any water on my brush. It's completely dry brush. And then only I've created that circle. Now I'm using a smaller size liner brush or rigger brush, you can say, for creating the center part which is completely, again, white. I have just created the shape in the center, but we'll do further detailing of the sun, of this part also because it is quite bright in color. The outer part, I have done with this lemon yellow to give a nice, vibrant shape to it. Inside is totally white and the outside part is lemon yellow. Take your time and give a proper shape to this sun, because this is the main center point where your eyes will go slowly. I'm just giving a proper shape to this, just taking a little more of this thin color of yellow. And I'm just using it for the outer part to give a little more like shine to the outer area where just a very thin glaze of yellow to the outer surface of the sun. 6. Creating Clouds: Welcome back. Now let's start with creating clouds. Now for creating clouds, we need a perfect dry brush. Dry brush in the sense like it should be completely dry without any water. Here I'm using my synthetic Filbert brush of size two for creating some nice fluffy clouds. Just removing the water from my brush, it's completely dry. Taking the violet blue, a little bit of white mix. And then we'll start creating simple clouds which will be in the circular motion. First, I'm just giving a little bit of idea where I'll create the clouds. This will be the area where the clouds will be. Very little amount of color you have to take on your brush When you're dealing with the cloud part, you can see very small amount of color I'm taking. I'm not taking too much color on my brush every time I very small amount of color just on the tip of the brush and I'm trying to create the shape. Don't take too much amount of color on your brush, otherwise you'll not be able to create such texture. If your brush is sticky, just wash it off your brush and remove excess of water. And then again, start using your brush. Water should not be there on your brush. It should be a very, my brush is wet, but I have removed all the waters by just wiping it out with my cloth. I'm just using this brush for painting and I'm just mixing very little mount of color with a mix of white to it. And I'm just trying to give a nice shape to it. After creating the shape, we'll give more textures to it. First, I'm just adding a little shape to the clouds, where the clouds will float and where the direction of clouds will be low. There will be clouds which is full in this area. These two clouds are joining each other. Now I'm just moving the brush in the circular motion to give more of a circular shape to the clouds. A little amount of violet, white and very little amount of blue mix in this. Again, I'm just adding the circular motion brush strokes, you can see above also. First I'll create the shape and then I'll just move the brush in the circular manner so that it becomes more of this shape, just adding a little shape to it in the circular motion. Now, the advantages of using this filtered brush is that when you move in circle, it will give a very nice round shape to the cloud. You can see how nicely this round shape is coming and there you can see how much color I have taken to my brush. I'm just using the extra colors which are there on the brush to create more shapes. I haven't taken too much amount of color on my brush again, I'm just moving the brush in the circular motion and filling these cloud area. Don't take too much color on your brush. Otherwise, there will be a thick clouds. Too much color will be there on the clouds, which we don't want. We want like a glazing effect, which the clouds should be a little transparent, transparent, it should be translucent. Actually, it should not have thick colors. Otherwise that cloud effect will not come up. That fluffiness of the cloud will not come up slowly, slowly. Just move your brush in the circular motion and create nice clouds by taking very little amount of color on your brush, just giving a nice shapes to the clouds. Some are small clouds, some are big clouds. They are mix of different sizes of clouds. It's not necessary that you have to create the same clouds. You can create your own shape of clouds you want. It's just giving the technique and the idea how the clouds will be. But you can do it in different shapes as well. It's up to you how you want the clouds to be. If you don't want the clouds, that is also fine. If you don't want the clouds in this area, you want it perfectly clean Landscape painting, that is also fine with it. It all depends upon how you are doing your painting. You can remove the clouds, you can just put the sunset without the clouds. You can just depict it like that way. It's all depends on your creativity. How you are going to paint the entire landscape painting. I'm just giving you the idea that how the clouds, the shapes can be and how you can shape the clouds. Now I'm just giving a little more shape to the clouds. You can see the roundness of this is coming with this brush. This brush is very important when it comes to the cloud part. It actually gives the roundness to the shape. Now I'm adding a little red to this lower part to give a more nice bright look to this. So that the sun is coming and reflecting on that clouds area just I'm giving a little reddish red like orange touch to it. Likewise, we'll be doing the clouds. There are small small clouds and below also, which we'll be creating, there are lots of clouds are there. Every time when your brush is sticky, just wash off your brush, remove excess of water, and then start with the painting. Because when you create such type of shapes, it happens that your brushes become sticky. Whenever you feel like that your brush is becoming sticky and lots of colors are being stick on your brush, Just wash off your brush, remove excess of water, and then start doing this cloud part. One most important thing when you're doing this cloud is your background should be completely dry. Then only start with this cloud part. Otherwise, whole background painting will get ruined better. First, do the background painting, let it dry, and then do these clouds. Now there are very thin clouds which are below which I'm trying to create very light brush effect. You can remove and you can skip that part or you can just leave it like this plank or you can create such cloud textures. Once we are done with this cloud part, we'll go towards this back portion which is the middle area where the distance a trees are there. We'll create that also. Whenever you're doing this painting, do with your patience. Take your time. Don't be in a hurry. Take your time and take breaks. Because this is a quite lengthy pen painting, it's not going to be finished in just 15 minutes. Take your time and do it slowly so that that perfect finish of the paintings comes up. You can see how I'm just overdoing the clouds. Whenever you overdo it, just layering the cloud so that it becomes more of a fluffy look. Just adding a little few more clouds on the top and giving a little shape to the clouds. Cloud part is a little tricky. If it is not coming, it's perfectly fine because this is a tricky thing when we are doing, giving such shapes to the clouds. I will definitely do one class projects where I will only teach how to create different clouds. But now here you can see there's a nice bright color which is there on the cloud. I'm just giving it a circular, half circle shape and then I'll put a round circle to it after doing that background part. But first I'm just giving that upper shape and then we'll do the entire shape of the sun once we are done with this background middle ground part. Now here I'm using again the blender brush and all the three colors and giving a round shape to this area. Just giving a shape to, it looks like the lights are bed getting, the sunlight is getting reflected on the outer part, mixing this red and yellow mix and just outlining with the outer part to give a shine to the sun. We'll also put some little shine on that area. Also where we have to do the part which is below, just first I'm giving to the sun part and then we'll do the lower part as well. Now this is also completely dry method technique. 7. Blocking Middleground: Welcome back. Now, let's start with this middle area here. I'm using my, again, the Rigger brush. First I will just do the outline of the area which I'm going to paint, just a very small zig zag. Just random shapes. I'm just giving just like they are distant trees which are there and bushes shapes, just a random shape I'm giving to here you have to use a very thin paint, try to make the color a little thin, and then try to create the shapes. You can see how I'm just giving a little shape to it. See, I'm just trying to give a little shape. And then I'll just fill in the colors first. Before doing that, I'll remove that tape, create a nice line, which is a light bluish line there. I'll first try to create that and then just adding a white and bluish texture using my flat brush. I'll just create a nice line below the tape with this white and blue mix. Now I'm just trying to create a thick line, nice, smooth line with this brush. I've taken a small size flat brush and half the color is on the tape and half is there on this canvas. And I'm trying to create a nice line to it. After that, I will just remove that tape and you will see a nice layer of line will be created. Let's remove the tape and see how the lines is looking. Before removing this line, let's first cover this color and just try to create this line. Black line which divides this background and forkground area. Just outlining it, you can see half the brush was there on my tape and half was there on this. It's not too much white on that, I'm just removing the tape. And then we'll fill the color in this area. It's a fill in the colors. You can use any brush, you can use round brush. You can use flat brush to fill in the colors. Depending upon your choice, whichever brush you feel like you can use it. I'm here using my flat brush to fill it up, just a small size flat. And I'm just trying to fill in this whole area with black color, taking a little more of black because my black was finished just taking a black, nice, thick black color. And I'm just trying to fill in this area. You can use round brush also to fill in this area. It all depends upon your choice. Whichever brush you are comfortable with, you can use it and fill in this part. Now this area is a little bit more shinier than the one which we'll add a little orange also to it. But first, let's do this with black. Then we'll do more detailing of this, just adding the colors. First, very simple blocking of this whole area. And then we'll do the further detailing of the middle ground area. Now the area which is below the sun, I'll make it a little more bright by using this fluorescent red color. I'm just giving a round shape below to it to give a little reflection of this sunlight which is falling on this area. Our small small details matters a lot when you're doing, especially the landscape painting, just giving a round shape to it. 8. Detailing of Middleground: Hello friends. Welcome back. Now let's start with the further detailing we have done the middle ground blocking. Now we'll create some details by mixing red into this. We want a little light color that is a little bit orange shade color. I've just mixed a little orange and red to this black to give a little brownish effect to it. Just creating small details on the top of this bushes just to feel that there are trees which are beyond here. I'm using my same rigger brush and I'm creating some nice small details on top of it, some lines, some dots. And also covering this black portion with the same color. Just as creating small, small lines, same process. I will repeat on this entire section, and I'll cover this with small lines and circles by mixing just orange to this black. I'm here mixing orange to this black. So that because the rays are falling on this part, I'm trying to create effect on these areas, especially the one which is near to the sun, very fine lines and details. Whenever you are doing such detailing, your color has to be a little thick. Not too much fluid, but yes, a little thicker than the one which you do for the liner painting or any lines. Just creating small details which will give an effect of the background tree which are at a very far distant. All these small details actually adds beauty to the painting and it looks a little realistic when you do such small detailings. Once we are done with the small detailings, we'll also create the water reflection of the sun on the water part. After that, we'll be doing that also. Let's first finish these small detailings, then we'll go to the reflection part. Now to give a little more brightness to this area, I'm using again, my blender brush. And taking this red color and dry brush and just creating a nice high below the area which is just below the sun. Just highlighting that part with red color. And highlighting a little bit more of this circular part. Simply making a round circular effect to this area. Since these fluorescent colors are mostly transparent, you can easily create such effect. Now adding a little bit of lemon yellow to the inner part and a little bit of water to it so that it becomes a little transparent. The colors, I'm just blending it with this red. This is the main center of attraction of the painting. The sun has to be perfect. Now we'll create the sun reflection that is just below the sun. Just try to create just below the sun. I'm just using this white color and using my rigger brush and creating the sun rays effect which is falling on the river. The edges is little yellowish and the inner part is white. It's actually the center part is white and the sides are yellowish. Just giving a little more line and details as we go down, It becomes small in size. Also adding a little bit of yellow to the sides give more vibrant effect. Always use lemon yellow when you want something vibrant effect of it. These are very small details which plays a very important role, especially in the sunset painting. Now let's create some grass effect. Here we will be using our bristle brush, but before that, let's first take the effect of this. This is a Bristol Filbert brush, which I'm using here of size two. These brushes are quite hard. It gives a very nice texture effect of the grasses, just adding a little bit of black to the sides and also to these areas. Just completely dry brush. And you have to and it will create a nice texture on the ground. Don't use any water on this brush. You have to use a completely dry brush. Very little color on your tip of your brush and you just have to a just on your tip of the brush. And I'm just creating these textures. These are very good brushes, especially since these are very hard brushes. So this gives a very nice small, small textures on top of it. If you don't have Filbert brush, you can use your flat brush for creating these textures. Just creating small, small textures with black color, also with a light effect. The shadow of these grasses which are falling beyond, just creating some effects. These are very lightly. You have to press your brush, you don't press your brush too hard. Otherwise, there will be patches. It will be very light pressure and very light pressure. Then only that texture will come up. You can see how lightly I am doing it. I'm not pressing the brush, light pressure which is being applied and the brush is completely dry. A little bit more land area, I'll create on the top a little bit more texture. We are almost done with this texture part, also create some textures on top which is near to this middle ground area, just a little bit more of the land area. 9. Painting Pine trees: Hello friends, Welcome back. Now, let's start with the tree formation, how we will be creating the trees. Now, here also, I will be using my rigger brush. And I'm just making the paint a little thin so that we can create a straight line. First, I'm just creating a straight line. And from the lower ground area there will be two trees which I'll be creating. If you're not confident using black color directly, then you can draw it with first the pencil, the straight line, and then you can do the painting part that is perfectly fine here. I'm just using this black paint and I'm just trying to create a nice straight line which is having a tip on the top. And as it goes down it becomes a little thicken. There will be two pine trees which I will be drawing over here. One will be bigger in size and one will be a little smaller than the one which is bigger. First, the base, that is the line which I'm trying to create. Over here, you can see that the pine trees are mostly triangle in shape. So I'll give a shape of it like that. Only a little more straight lines. If the lines are not properly straight, it's fine because the trees sometimes have their branches which are not. It's perfectly fine. Not to worry here, you have to use thin paint. Thin paint in the sense go down. The pain of the color should be, it should be a little thin so that it is more movable. Now, one tree which I have created is on the bottom of the land and the other tree I have created on the top of the second area land area which is there, just trying to make it a little bit more taller than the one which is next to it. Just small lines and dots, I'm starting to create from the tip. Just random dots are there, which I am trying to create a shape of a tree. Actually, these are small dots and lines in different patterns. They're random patterns which gives the shape of this u. The trees, like the branches are there, which are full of leaves. Small, small dots like that. I'm trying to create the pattern, this type of pattern looks more realistic than the one which we create tree with a fan brush. Just dots I'm creating. You can see I'm just filling the center area also with the dots. Random dots and lines I'm trying to create. And giving the shape of this curve lines as we go down these branches will increase the size of the leaves. And the dots will increase because we have to create a triangular shape like that, you have to do it, you can put dots like in triangular shape and then you can fill it up. That will be easy for you can do it. Without doing that, you can do it also, it's not an issue just creating small random dots to create a nice curvy shape of the branches. The whole thing will go like this only. And as we will go down, the shape of these branches and leaves will increase in size. It will be more bigger because we need to create a little triangular shape tree because this is a pine tree. Simple steps. Now one more thing you can do is you can create some branches like this, which will give you a thing in mind that, okay, these branches where I have to create the leaves first. That way also you can do it. You can see I'm just creating the lines where the branches will be, how much big it will be. Then I will cover them with those dots, which will look like leaves. Now, these thin lines will only come when you will use a nice thin paint. Otherwise the lines will be thick. Try to make your color thin and then use these colors. So again, now I have created the rough sketch that how my trees will be tree formation will be and now again, I will do the same thing. I will create dots on both sides of these lines to create a nice shape of the tree. Just enjoy the process and see how this is coming up. Now, the tree size depends upon the size of your painting, how you are doing it. Now I have this 57 size paintings. I'm creating that much amount of big tree. It all depends upon how much big size your painting is. You can create big size painting also with same technique, but the brushes should be big. Especially the flat brush which you're using. For the base rest brush, you can use same, but especially for the background painting. When you're using a bigger size canvas or a bigger size board, bigger size flat brush pending purpose, especially the background and foreground painting. Now you can see how this tree is coming up and how realistic it is looking. When you look from far away, it's just the dots and random lines which makes these trees so beautifully realistic. Actually, I will be repeating the same process for this tree, also for the other tree. Also, same technique we will use for the other tree as well. Just enjoy the process. I'll also create some more lines in between once I'm done with this tree part so that it looks more full filled. You can see I haven't kept any gap in between. I'm trying to keep it more dense. Just adding more of these shapes. We almost done with the first tree painting. Now we will do the second part of the second tree. There are also trees which are, we'll create just two trees. There will be trees which are having branches from the other sides just creating some lines in between. This is the first tree which we have done. Similarly, we'll do the second tree as well, the same process. 10. Creating Grass: Welcome back. Let's start with our second tree. Same process, just thinning the paint down. And the same process, I will repeat here also. First starting from the tip and small dots as we'll go down, the shapes of this will increase. Same process and try to make sure that these branches are very close to each other. Then on, the beauty of this pine tree will come up. Your color has to be fluid over here. Then you will be able to create some nice fine dots. After that, there are a few more trees. There will be one tree which is beside this tree. Also, there will be a tree on the other side. And we will also create some grasses downward. Then only our painting will be complete. This is the second tree which we are doing here with some small details. I'm just adding, just creating some more lines like we did earlier for the first tree and then I will fill in the texture. Rigger brush plays a very important role when you are doing such detailings. Try to use fine rigger brush. This is the Princeton rigger brush which I'm using here. You can use of any brand, but make sure that the tip is fine and the quality of the brush is fine. Then the textures which come up is really nice. When you use good quality brushes, you can see I'm just adding few more details to this tree. Then to the side of this smaller tree, there will be another tree which have only branches and few leaves. That type of tree. That is a different tree actually, which I'll be creating the side of this tree first. Creating the three branches and the tree trunk. Just two sides. It's not required. If you don't have space, you can create just two trees also. That will be also perfect. But since I have few spaces beside that, I'm trying to create one more tree which have only the branches and very few leaves. Just nice fine lines. Trying to create some branches and stems of these branches. A little bit of leaves. I will add not too much leaves, just few leaves. Just creating nice fine lines. Fine lines will only come up when the color is fluid. Just adding a few leaves here and there, not filling it up completely. Now let's create some grass effect at the bottom part. Now the grass effect, you can also do with your fan brush or you can do with your rigger brush. Here I will be teaching you how to do with your rigger brush. Again, when you are doing these lines, now the color has to be fluid. In this case, just making small lines on the below part as you can see. Just fine lines, just make your color a little fluid. And try to create simple, nice lines. I've just zroomed in a bit so that you can see it clearly how I'm creating the lines. These are not straight lines. I'm just trying to create random directions so that this looks like a nice lines. And the comings, fine lines, thin lines which I'm trying to create on these top land area. Very thin lines just here and there. Just making it a little bit more dense. This is how it looks when you see from far distant. And try to fill it up properly. Now let's do for this lower part as well. Just try to fill these areas completely so that it looks like ten grasses are there below. Now let's do for this lower part, just try to make it flow from, start from bottom and go towards the top. Just mixing a little bit of red to this black to make it a little bit more lighter color than that of this black color. Because the sun reflection is there, the color has to be a little lighter than the black color. Now one more thing you can do. You can just t just turn it towards your side, the area which you're doing for the grass part, and then you can create such nice fine lines. This is one more technique which you can do it or you can directly do it from this side here. Simple fine lines you can only create with these brushes. Now what I'm doing here is I'm just turning it upside down and then I will try to create it that will be easy for you to create. Especially the line part here, I'm just covering the area which is wide. Just trying to create nice simple lines with very free hand. Don't press your brush, just use your tip of your brush to create this nice lines. Just free flow in different directions. There are some bigger lines as well, bigger bushes, which we'll create very fine simple lines. Just like a free flow like we do. Color has to be flowered. Then only these fine lines will be created. Otherwise there will be thick lines. Now there are few lines which are very few grasses. Just I'm trying to create few grasses which are quite tall enough. And there we will create some nice small lines on below. Just lines in the below part. Not for all of the few of them. I'm just creating it so you can see how bright and beautiful this sunset is looking when these glasses are being made. 11. Final Detailing: Hello friends. Welcome back. We have almost come to the last part of the painting. Little bit more details and we are done Here, I'm again creating some more pine trees which are very small at a distance. First I'm just trying to create line. Then I'll create some nice fine lines like diagonal shapes and small small trees which are there beyond. Just to give a little more effect to this painting. These are very small details which adds a little more beauty to this painting. You can see I have mixed a little red to it because it's a quite orange shade color over there and it's a sunset time. At that time, most of the trees look like reddish and brownish in shape. Just trying to create that effect. A little bit more trees towards the side as well. A little bit more branch effect I will try to create on this side, which is quite a little blank to the other side. One side I have created the trees. The other side I'll just create the branches of the trees to give a little more depth to this painting. Simple branches which are coming out, it's not full tree, just the branches which are visible now try to thin down the color to create such branches because we need a thinner paint for creating some nice fine lines. Just creating the lines. Some are up and some are down in directions. Just filling it up. And then we'll create the leaves. Also. After that, our painting will be finished. This is the last part of the painting which we are doing. I've just zoomed in the painting so that you can see it more clearly how these details and the lines I'm creating for the leaves just do and trying to create some nice texture of the leaves. Similarly, I will fill in the entire area which where I have created these branches. Just taking a thin paint and trying to create some lines and filling up the entire tree line area, the branches and filling it up. So similar process, we'll repeat for the others as well. You can create these patterns, these branches, or you can leave it like that. This will also look beautiful. Just to add a little bit more beauty to it, I have created these branches and adding some more details to it. After that, we'll be done with this painting. I hope you guys enjoyed doing this with me and do share your reviews and your project works. I will love to see them. You can also tag me on my Instagram, that is Money art Gallery. I really enjoy watching your paintings. Your project works when you submitted your feedbacks really help me a lot to understand what do you want and how I can change my techniques of teaching. It really helps me a lot and motivates me. Please do share your review as well as your project work. I would love to see them. Painting is almost complete. Little bit, few more details and we are good to go for this painting here. Again, I'm using this bristle brush to give a little bit more texture, the reflection of the water effect. Just adding a little bit of this tree reflection here. Also a little bit of reflection of the bigger tree which I've drawn. Whenever you are creating such reflection effect, try to use completely dry brush and very little amount of color on your brush. Don't take too much color on your brush, otherwise, whole painting will be spoil. It will create patches. Take very little amount of color. And completely dry brush, adding a little bit more of white highlight to it. Just a finishing touch which I'm trying to give to this painting. Just a little bit more of a detailing, adding little yellows to the sides. All these small detailings are important that how your painting will be. It is a never ending process and you will do it. We have to stop at a certain point. Just a few more and we are almost done. A little bit more white to this part to give a little round shape to the center area. I hope you guys enjoyed doing this painting. I really enjoyed this vibrant effect. It gives me a very soothing effect when I did this painting and I thought of sharing with you guys as well. That's why I created this project because I really liked this landscape. It gives a really very meditative and vibrant effect to me. I hope it will give to yours as well. Now here I'm just adding a little bit of line, which as you can see, the white line, giving it a little bit more nice line effect. It's not completely white. I have mixed a little blue to it. If your line is traded, it's not required. But if it is not, then please do so. This is almost done. This is the painting which is complete And you can protect this painting by varnishing it with varnish. We are almost done with it and I hope you guys enjoyed watching this do try it out. Thank you so much.
