About This Class

Let's paint something cute and simple.

In this simple, relaxing class, I'll show you how you can work with vibrant color palettes.
Together, we'll learn and see how we can work with a circular gradience background and then do the artwork effortlessly.

  • how to make pastel shades when you have none ready in collection of your paint tubes.
  • how layering colors is key in order to get the color you're looking for &
more precisely, the importance of the underlayer for your final color.
  • how to 'go beyond' the source you're pulling from, to make your palettes unique to you.

This is a soft, gentle class to paint along to when you're wanting to spend some time with your art materials & learn to stretch the edges of your comfort zone with some bright colors for your next art project.

In this class, I am going to teach you everything you need to know about how I work with Acrylic Paint in order to get cute mini canvases ready. Acrylic is such a great medium because it is very easy to learn and use.

1. Inrtoduction: Hi there, welcome to the course. My name is survey. And in this course, I will show you step-by-step how I prepared this cute little sketch of ice cream shaved head, and how I do the layers to fill the colors. I have used equally color on its small canvas, which is four by 4 ". And you can use any Canvas or any surface you want to do. So it's a fun, easy course. Let's begin. 2. Preparing the artwork: Here is how the finished painting looks. If you want to use the same design, the artwork, I will attach it as a file. You can download it and draw or trace the same artwork. And for colors I'm using brushstrokes are PBO or whichever brand you want to use. And I'm just using a pencil to draw the outline. Just to draw a rough outline so I know where and how to give a finished look. So you can check out the description. I've attached a file so you can make the same or in case you want to make something new, you can do that. 3. Lets color the ice cream: Now it's time to color some starting with the middle layer, which is light pink. I will add white and pink color to make a lighter shade. If you don't have the pink color, you can definitely make it using red and white. I am using the pre-made basal colors from brushstroke in case you want that one, you can get it for you. So I'm starting with the middle part first. And for each and every layer, I do a double or triple quote of the paint depending on how transparent or opaque it looks. So I'm being very careful doing this step. So you can also start with the middle portion. The reason why I'm starting with the middle portion is because the top layer and the bottom part of the heart is of same shade. So I'll start with the pink and then I can go ahead with the top layer and the bottom layer. So you can pause the video if you want, so you can see how I'm doing it and how many layers I'm doing it. And also what kind of highlights and giving to the layer. And gradually I will be adding white to make it a little more lighter. So you can pause the video and time to see it very carefully. One more thing which is important is that while you're making a lighter shade, be very gentle and be very careful while adding the darker shade into wide. So I'm slowly reducing the amount of pink in white. And I'm trying to get that lighter shade for creating the highlights in this layer of the ice cream. You can do that too. And if you want, you can use a different combination of color as per your requirements. So you can see I'm just adding, keep on adding little bit of white to create that highlight. And you can see at the places where I'm adding this light color, not in the entire layer of ice cream. Now it's time to do the lower layer of the ice cream with brown color, some taking the white, which I had already kept from the second layer. And I'm using a little bit of light brown color, ocher color to create the first layer. You always go lighter first and slowly you can go on the darker side of the color. And then at the end I usually add the highlights so you can see how I'm doing it and just filling the entire layer with one color. And then I will do the double layer and then I will go darker for the shadow part and then lighter part for the middle section so you can follow the same step. It's easy. Go slow. Be very gentle. Pause the video if you want to see what I'm doing. So now here I'm doing the top part of the ice-cream. So you have to go very light in the beginning and then you can go darker and darker depending on the shade you want. I'm using the leftover colors, so I do not want to waste a lot of color to start with a lighter shade and then I go like adding darker shade into it slowly and slowly. So I do not waste a lot of color. So I take a wide in a generous amount because I know I have to make different shapes. And then I keep it separately and mix the colors with it to create the effect I need. This is how it looks. I go lighter than little bit darker than even more darker, and then the darkest. That's how I do it. You can do the same way if you want. It's time to add some highlights after I'm done with the outlining and the darker effects. So it's just simply take white. And depending on the light effects you need, I'm, I'm actually following the light from the left side or from the front size, from adding the highlights accordingly, just taking white and putting it on the layers to show the highlights clearly. So you can do that too. We may meet in Zoom the video to see where I've done it. I'm using all the three shades of brown I have in this set. Of course wide, I will be doing light first and then I'll go darker. Some taking the lightest shade of brown I have right now, I will fill the entire part of the, the down part of the ice-cream hot with this color. And then I'll do a double layer to fill it completely. And then I'll go for adding the darker shades and the highlights. 4. Its time for the Lavendar Background: Once the artwork is ready and dry, we'll start with the background. So I'm using white, pink, and lavender. I'm just adding lots of white and just a little bit of pink or white, whichever color you have. I'm aiming to get a lavender shade, a lighter shade, and get a circular gradients effect. So what I'm doing here is going darker on the edges, on the four corners and very light in the center part. So I'm just creating a circular effect. So you can use white for the center, just a little bit of lavender pink to it. For the edges you can see I'm using a darker shade, darker shade of lavender. That's how I do it. And then I will make sure that center part is as light as possible. And this is the result that we get once it's dry. So I hope you enjoyed the course. Let me know.
