1. Introduction✨: Hello and a warm welcome to this easy and fun painting class, which is especially designed for absolute beginners. In this class, you will learn how to paint these glowing string lights, which are also called Summer lights, with acrylic paints using only primary colors. It's so much fun to paint this subject as perfect to display it in your home. Or it can be a lovely gift for your friend or a family member. I'm so excited to teach you how to paint these magical string lights, and I'm sure you're excited as well. So let's start our project and I'll see you in the next video. 2. Art Supplies ✨: All right, so let's start now. So step one is to paint the background. I will take my blue acrylic paint and black paint and the white paint on my palette. And I will mix all of these three colors together. In this project, the sky is dark blue, it's a nighttime. That's why I mixed black in it and some amount of white so that we can see the true shape of the blue. While mixing all of these three paints together, don't forget to add the amount of water so that the paint is not super thick or dry and the brush will work smoother on the paper while painting the background. I have nicely mixed my paint and now I can start painting the background. I will start by painting the sky with the flood brush and horizontal brushstrokes. And from starting from the top and then gradually painting all the way to the bottom. And I'll make sure that I cover all the white of the paper so that it's nicely covered with my dark blue paint. To sky to be more bluish and not so dark like mine. You can simply add little amount of black and more blue and a little bit more white so that you will have more bluish sky. But the reason I Surgical far really dark sky is because I think that the summer lights, the string lights will glow more sparkle more against the dark blue sky and you will see they definitely will glow and they will look magical. Once I will start painting them. I'm done painting the background and it's nicely covered with my dark to paint. I will dip my brush in the water. And before I move to step two, I will wash my brush nicely and then wipe it on the paper towel because I don't want my brush to be damaged, right? We should take care of our brushes. The sky is completely dry and now I think draw with the pencil or summer lights. Okay, so grab your pencil and events still that you have and draw a wire off the lights are, the lights are attached to. So you can go crazy and draw as many string lights that you want, some more lights that you want. In my composition, I just want two of these wires line severe. I'm going to draw now the bulk. So I took my white pen, gel pen so that you can see, maybe you cannot see the mark of the pencil in the video. So to make it easy for you to see, I am drawing it with the white pen. It's not necessary. You can draw it with the pencil because when the paper will be in front of you, you will be able to see the pencil marks. The first thing I enjoy is the base of the bulbs, like tangles shape. And on each wire I'm going to draw five of them. If you want more, you can add more and more lights. Just makes sure that there's some space in between the lights, the bulbs, and they are in a circle shape like a circle, small circle. Try your best to draw a circle. Okay, if it's not perfect circle, even mine are not perfect. Okay, so now is the time to paint the lights. We are done with the basic sketch. It was super easy, right? So the next step is to paint the lights, and I will see you in the next video. 3. Step 1; Paint the background and Draw lights ✨: Now is the most exciting part of the painting. You will just need three colors, red, yellow and white. Red and yellow to make the orange color. Yellow and white to make the lightest yellow color and white to add the highlight on our lights. So the first color I will make is the orange by taking red and yellow and mix them together and you'll get a pretty orange. So I will take my round brush to mix the paints and I will use the same brush to paint the box. And I'll take yellow and red and a little bit of light these three colors together and I'll get a pretty orange. The orange that I want has little bit of more red. So I'll take more red and I'll mix in it because I want this orange to be reddish orange and not yellowish orange. If I will mix more yellow, I will get to yellowish orange. I don't want yellowish orange. I want reddish orange because yellow will be painted on top of the orange. The orange should also be there. It should also stand up in the paintings. So the orange that I choose for the painting is like it has more red in it. Okay? So I will start painting the bulbs now. I will fill in inside all the circles, all the belts with this orange color. So you might be thinking that why am I painting the bulbs with orange first and not with the yellow first? Because orange is opposite to blue. And the color wheel, as you can look over here, colors blue and orange are opposite to each other. So whenever you use opposite colors in your painting, the painting is beautiful. And it looks more, more better if you will use opposite colors beside each other in your painting. And you can see that in our advantage as well, the color of the sky is the darkest blue. And that's why I'm painting the bulbs with orange first so that there are opposite colors in this painting as well. So I'm done with painting the bulbs with the orange color. I will wash the brush first. Okay, I don't want the orange to get in the yellow. I want pure bright yellow color. And now the orange color is all dry, okay, the first layer is completely dry, and now I will make the brightest yellow. I will take yellow and mix white in it and do not add more water in your paint when you're painting the bulbs. Because if you will add more water in your paint at this stage, the colors will be and they wouldn't be what tree and thin and they will lose it, lose their vibrancy. And V1, the bulbs to really stand out, do really shine. And two, so I just mix yellow and white without mixing water in it. And I'm painting in the middle, in the center of the bulbs, I'm leaving an outline of orange. I'm not covering the bulk completely as you can see, that I am painting the yellow in the middle and I'm leaving a thin line around orange line so that we can still see the orange, but more yellow. Okay, after painting it all yellow, I will paint it with white color only and I will just take the white color and not makes anything in it that's titanium white. Okay. I will not make anything in it. I will just take white. And before I used the white, I will clean my brush, the yellow color. I will clean it from the brush. And then I will make sure the brushes all clean. There's more yellow in it. And I'll just do white color and paint on top of the bowl. And again, I will not cover the yellow, completely. White color is going to be the very center of the bulbs so that the bulbs will shine. Okay, these are the, this is the highlight, the light, light off the bulk. Okay, so it's going to shine, glow. And this is going to be on the center of the bulb. And you can see I have not covered the yellow completely and I have not covered the oranges. Well, we are almost done with the painting. The painting of the bulbs is finished. We don't have to touch our summer lights anymore, no chest. We will make brown color to black and I'm going to mix black, red, and yellow to make brown. And I will paint the base of the box. Brown color. As you can see, it's a nighttime, so I will take the black color and add some shadows, black colored under the wire and leave white on the top so that there's light on the top of the wire and under it there's shadow. So I will cover most of the wire with the black color and leave little bit white on the top. Okay, now is the very last step. I will just make orange. I'll take red and yellow again and make orange and paint a touch of light on the top of the layer, on top of the lights. And that's all. So before we call our painting all done and complete, we will sign the painting. It's really important to sign the painting. I took the same orange color with the same round brush and I'm signing the painting. Never forget to sign your painting. So sign-in with the tip of the brush. Hold the brush like the pencil, and really slowly sign your painting. Even if you are, if you are keeping your painting at home inside the drawer, in your file or you want to give it to someone, whatever the case is, always and always sign your painting and never forget it. Okay. Let's see now what's the final look of the painting? And I will remove the tape from the paper. If you're interested to hold down your watercolor paper or your any white thick paper with the tape on your self phase, then you can get any tape. I recommend this one. Magic tape, it's called invisible tape as well. It's really safe for your paper. It will not damage it and you can use it, but it's optional. I mean, it's not necessary to have a border around your painting. I didn't have a sketchbook with me. The one that I can use for this class. I have, I have lots of white papers for paintings. So that's why that's why I decided to tape down the paper so that it doesn't move while painting. The painting looks so amazing. It's so good. And what do you think? You love it? I just love it and I really enjoyed painting it. I'm sure you enjoyed learning as well. And I'm sure you're excited to greet this project. In the next video, I will share with you some more ideas and tips how to make this project even more beautiful. 4. Step 2: Paint the lights ✨: Now is the most exciting part of the painting. You will just need three colors, red, yellow and white. Red and yellow to make the orange color. Yellow and white to make the lightest yellow color and white to add the highlight on our lights. So the first color I will make is the orange by taking red and yellow and mix them together and you'll get a pretty orange. So I will take them round brush to mix the paints. And I will use the same brush to paint the box and take yellow and red and a little bit of white. Mix all these three colors together and I'll get a pretty orange. If I will mix more yellow, I will get the yellowish orange. I don't want yellowish orange. I want reddish orange for this because yellow will be painted on top of the orange. The orange should also be there. It should also stand out and the paintings, so the orange that I choose for the painting, it has more red in it. Okay. So I will start painting the bulbs now. I will fill in inside all the circles, all the belts with this orange color. So you might be thinking that why am I a painting the bulbs with orange first and not with the yellow first. Because orange is opposite to blue in the color wheel as you can look over here, these both colors, blue and orange are opposite to each other. So whenever you use opposite colors in your painting, that painting is beautiful. And it looks more, more better if you will use opposite colors beside each other in your painting. And you can see that in our advantage as well, the color of the sky is the darkest blue. And that's why I'm painting the boats with orange first so that there are opposite colors in this painting as well. So I'm done with painting the bulbs with the orange color. I will wash the brush. Okay, I didn't want the orange to get in the yellow. I want pure bright yellow color. And now the orange color is all dry, okay, the first layer is completely dry, and now I will make the brightest yellow. I will take yellow and mix white tenant and do not add more water in your paint when you're painting the bulbs. Because if you add more water in your paint at this stage, the colors will be, they will be watery and pin and they will lose it, lose their vibrancy. And V1, the bulbs to really stand out, do really shine and to look colorful. So I just mix yellow and white without mixing water in it. And I'm painting in the middle, in the center off the boats and leaving an outline of orange. I'm not covering the book completely as you can see. I am painting the yellow in the middle and I'm leaving a thin line around the orange line so that we can still see the orange, but more yellow. Okay, after painting it all yellow, I will paint it with white color only and I will just take the white color and not mix anything in it that's titanium white. Okay. And then I will make sure the brushes all clean. There's more yellow in it. And I'll just stick white-collar and paint on top of the ball. And again, I will not cover the yellow completely. The white color is going to be on the very center of the bulb so that the bulbs will shine. Okay, these are the, this is the highlight. Light, light off the bulk case so it's going to shine, glow. And this is going to be on the center of the ball. And you can see, I have not covered the yellow completely and I have not covered the oranges. Well, we're almost done with the painting. The painting of the bulbs is finished. We don't have to touch our summer lights anymore now just we will make brown color. I took black and I'm going to mix black, red, and yellow to make brown. In the next video, I will share with you some more ideas and tips how to make this project even more beautiful. 5. Few tips & Ideas ✨: In the previous lesson, I told you that I will share some of the ideas with you to enhance the look of your painting and be more creative.
