1. INTRODUCTION: Hey, guys. Mass in G, a music producer, composer and the key borders in this course off a built in life ultimate. I'm going to walk you guys through every function in a bilton life on I will show you guys how to put them to use for your artistic composition. It doesn't matter which level you're in, even if you are in intermediate. Beginner are even in an advanced level where you have experience working on a different digital audio workstation and you are trying to switch over to a bilton This course, this corner significantly boost the process. And the Learning Co. Ever wondered when you buy electronic product on electronic goods, you'll get a man will along with it, But you will never read the man with at all, right? You'll just go to YouTube and search for the particular product and water video. Well, that is the difference. This course makes from all the other causes out there. This a bilton life ultimate course is gonna walk you guys through every function, every simple step that has ever mentioned in the A built in life man will. It is about 7 50 pages, but I have simplified it. And I have done all the hard work for you guys. If you are someone who is trying to master able to love and you're looking at the man will and it has 7 50 pages. I got you guys here. I have programmed Onda have structured this course in vase for you to understand and not get bored Use Every lesson in this course comes along with a small illustration so that you don't get bored and you concentrate on the lesson also retaining whatever that is said in the listen. Moreover, this course is not destructor did for you guys to understand a bilton, but also put it into use for you to maximize the creative process off the composition that you're making. While going through this course, I will repeat the shortcuts not once, not twice, not tries as much as I can so that you can remember them. You can practice down so that you can significantly brew your workflow and save time. I really hope that you will find value from this course. If you have any questions, any queries or anything that you are struggling with, you can just drop in the discussion about what you're struggling with, and I will get you guys as soon as possible on I will see you guys in the court. 2. BROWSER: Hey, guys, in this video, we're going to look at the browser section in a built in life. So, as you can see here, the browser section is nothing but this section enable turn. So usually, if you couldn't view this, it will be turned down by this button right here. I can click this and toggle and open it so us against here, what is actually a browser section? What can you do with it? So the browser section is simply collection off musical assets that can be used to create your musical composition simply if if I have to put it in a basic terms, it is the grocery store off musical elements. Yeah, right, because it provides every element and every asset that you require to complete your competition and, you know, and go through your creative process. So, as you can see here, you have three sections, the collection, the categories on places. So the collection is simply shortcuts, so that you can access the sounds that are favorites to you or the sounds and the effects that you actually need. Almost every time when you open a built in life so you can mark them with this, um, a Bilton live collection function. So next is categories. So what is care? Agrees. Categories is a broad section because it includes of the basic musical assets that you will require that comes with a bilton. So sounds it just gotta grazes every soured or every musical element or instrument that you will require to make a competition. But these are included along with a built in, which means they're factory presets, then drums. You will have a lot of time that come along with table turn instruments. Instruments includes a lot of devices that come along with Mableton that can help you get started to making music. Audio effects. Audio effects includes almost every effect that you will ever need to process your sounds on to get them better to next level. Many effects Midi affects includes effects that can be a played too many channel and many trucks. I will explain new guys that in the later coming videos. So then Max for life is ah, advanced instruments that can be programmed on can be used with Hilton Live and plug ins. This is where you are. The third party plug ins to able to in life. We're not going to dive deep into that now, but we'll skip through next year's clips. Every clip that you right into a built in life can be found here and then. Samples can also be found, so we are going to the next section in browser, which is places. Places just means the directories where your sounds are found are the local directory where your music allies it's our held. So as you can see here already, there is a user library, which is nothing but your documents folder in your computer. And then there is a current project. This will be mostly the system temporary folder where the system or the I button lie will hold your temporary files that you're working with. And then you have I'd folder button. That's what we are going to use. So what you're going to do it in this video is to add a sample back or an external sound. For example, when you buy your new Medicaid board, are any new many instruments, you will always get some kind of sound or sound attack associated with it. How do you add that into a built in life this is of your doing. Click on add folder. It will open up this window, locate your folder for medicine, animate logo and affinity and just click on select folder and give it 2 to 5 seconds. And yet there it is. You can find the folder now. And there is another section, right? There is a bar celebrating this section. What this section is It just represents our it shows you whatever sample that is available in each section. So this is the browser or desist of uber flip you over or you can call it us in assembled viewer On this is the search box of Whenever you search, there is a, um let's search for high hat. So whenever you sort something, this all results will appear down here, Which means it will show every result that is available in instruments audio for X muddy effects and in every folder that you have. But you can separate it by clicking on current project. There's nothing often it leaders something in instruments. There is nothing audio effects. You can find something like hi ads which are pretty, is it so the main function of this browser used to locate your sandals. Your audio recordings on also toe find your devices that are used to compose your music. I'll see you guys the next video. 3. SAVING LIVE SET: Hey, guys, in this video, I'm going to show you how to save able to and life set. What do I mean by life? Said every project that you were open on use our combos. Your music has called this life set on. Whenever you open a live set or whenever you work on a project, the first thing you do is to save it. For example, when a baby's born, it is named Andi. He our shares registered on given a both certificate from the government. It is not similar, but it is almost similar to that case. So here, when you are giving birth to your musical composition, the first thing you have to do is to save the project, which s I want to stress it out again and again and again if your system crashes because your system couldn't handle the power or the performance that is needed to run able to. And if a power failure occurs, or something happens and you lose the project and it's gonna be a nightmare. So the first thing that you got to do before you do anything in a built in when you open up is to save the project, so let's get on from here. So what is the life set? A Life said is simply the composition Are the project in a built and it is called us life set. So how to save a life set? Click on file on You can click Your Save Life said US are saved. Life said anything can go, so save life set. So already I have saved something so it takes me here. So let's goto this for local foreigners and let's hear what be live, he said. And you just click on save before that. Just look at your you can see dot a L s, which is a bilton life said that is its expansion, which means this is unable to in life said so whenever you save able to in life said all the samples that are included with that project all the MIDI files, all the instructions that you add into this project will also be saved. Along with this life set, click on save Andi within 2 to 3 seconds, it will get updated right here. Be like set. So now if you want to open the same project, all you gotta do is open life said And you can see here be life said if opened this on it will just open it right again Inside, as you can see in the top corner be live said be lives that it just opens it again So it is just so simple But you have to understand that dot a l s is the file format for a bilton. As you might know, that dark BST is for for the shop, just like the dot a l s s for a bilton. So the first thing to keep in mind when you open your build in used to save your project I'll see you guys the next video. 4. ARRANGEMENT AND SESSION VIEW: Hey, guys, In this video, we are going to look at arrangement, view and session view. These are practically the two views that you can find a near built in life. So what does they mean on what are their functions and what do they do? I'm going to tell you guys in a bit. So first, whatever. Now you see on the screen when you toggle this down and the browser just goes away And this is what you see when you open up able to you have one audio strip, one Mideast trip to return strips Onda master. Right. So, as you can see here, this it's the Sheshan view on this section is totally and it is entirely different from the arrangement view. So how do you go from session Butto arrangement view? It's very simple. Press the tab key in your keyboard. Andi, Now you're not instrument view. As you can see here, the browser gets opened. Now you can turn this down and now you have that instrument view. Let's go back to the station view. So the simple honor, Tommy, off session Andi arrangement view can be put forward like this. For example, when you are singing on a stage are in somewhere your just performing then it is completely different from when you're singing in your home because when you're singing in your home you can stop, You can edit, you can automated. You can tweak your sound. You can redo it 15 20 times. You can change things right But when you are performing outside your limited to four or five things, maybe you can stop once and you can say like, let's do it again. But you cannot do a lot of things. All you can do is perform, So that is the difference between arrangement, view and session view in session view. You have this boxes. These are clip holders. So if you double click first, uh, turned this now born That is the arm Burton. So if you double click your, it will start to record. So these are clip hold us. And he was stopped it. So we call it. Yeah. Did you hear that? U S O these strips audio strip murder strip and those written strips are part off this session view which will hold audio clips. Andi, when they are triggered, they will play in a live environment during a live performance. But when you talk about your tab key, this arrangement view is entirely different. This is used for arranging your clips. You can even you can use this session view for improvising on. You can drag this clip, and then you can get the Tao button once again, and you can drop it here. So this is for arranging, arranging purpose arrangement view. So as the name itself say's, This is for arranging your clips, arranging your sounds to make it into in their song so that you can export it and master it on. Use it for your recordings. But at the same time, when you click on Tacky, the session view is for improvising on for live performance. I hope you understood that, and I will see you guys in extra video. 5. TRACKS AND SENDS: Hey, guys, in this video, we're going to look at Trax on sense. What I mean by tracks tracks are simply, as you can see here, the audio track or Millie track. Simply the strips returned track. These trips are called the strikes on. They correspond to the same tracks that are in the arrangement. Viewers, Will you control it through tab key? Okay, so also, if you press control f, you can get the search function that is in the browser window. If you press Ah, click this button and it'll target hot off. If you again press control f you can get this. Okay, so if you press stab, you can just switch between session and arrangement. So tracks and saints, as you can see here, there are three different type off drugs audio track, muddy track and return tracks as well as you have the master track. Of course. So what? I mean by audio tracks, what are its functions? What it can do. So audio tracks hold all the audio samples on. It will hold all the microphone recordings that you record through the microphone. As you can see here, it shows you the microphone inputs that I have connected right now. So what is this muddy drug do? Muddy track use as many information which are just instructions. That trigger sounds. So this audio trucks and ready tracks are used to synthesis and more relate sounds so that you can achieve whatever composition that you're doing in your project. So let us come to the certain tracks. What does this return tracks do? How can we explain this? So take this, for instance. You're going with your kid to a shop. Andi, you don't find something there. And you are telling your kid like, you know what? Take this money and you go to the the next sub that you have Andi buy the same product and come and we can save time. That's what this does. The money that you're using is the musical information. You're just splitting it on. Giving to your kid and your kid. Here is the return track. Uh, it was a boring illustration anyways, so the information from the audio track can be send to there, Uh, don't track. So if I am turning this knob, click on Dizzy and send it to it on. If you click on monitor Rato. You got it. Listen, you can see right yah, You can see right here. Right, Then put is coming in. Let's turn it off. So it's just simple. You are parallel processing when you're processing your audio recordings through this strip or the audio track, you can process it again through return track. So the audio FX, usually reverb or compressions, are sometimes ah, a lot of processes can be even expanding your track. Hell. Order processes can be done through this return tracks. I just want to recap every shortcut that we have learned so far. First, it's the tab key in keyboard. It just toggles between the two sessions and then we learned control F We just opens up the Broza and gives us toe closer in the search box. So just keep in mind tab key to such between the arrangement and decision view as well as control. Have for search box in Broza. I'll see you guys next video 6. AUDIO TRACKS: Hey, guys, in this video, we're going to look into our your tracks. In the previous video, we just went over. What is an audio strip? Ward is in Mideast trip. What is the return track and everything? So we are going to look a little bit in depth into audio track. So what is an audio track do? An audio track holds audio clips. If you use a tablet and to navigate to your arrangement view here. As you can see, it holds on audio clip. We recorded this, right? So it holds an audio clip. It can manipulate audio clips and that this world audio track is for so, is that it? No. It can do a lot more things. So if you double click on audio clip, it just opens up this and then you think so? This is a clip editor, or you can call it us. You know, sample editor, because you can use this to close. This sample of this audio recording can be a deterred If you double click it, this will open and you can edited in this window. So what can we do with it? So as you can see here it tells you about the time signature, it lets you to add a group of it. We can, you know, dive deep into it in the for the classes on. Then it lets you toe edit things, transpose it, increase or decrease the volume, As you can see here on, then you can change the values like very wanted to start or stop. Then you can loop it on. Loop it. Then you can change the position from where you want the assembled to play. You can change how the system or the device audio sound bling device interprets the particular recording against. There are a bunch of things that you can do this audio track So the audio track is completely different from the MIDI track. So I'll tell you guys how it is different. So if you click this button, then this audio editing sambal with the clothes Andi, Then though we have just this because we editor did right, If you just did, we have it. So how is this'll? Audio track Completely different from Mary Track. It is different because of one reason because you can't use any Mediafax view Goto ah browser You can't use any media effects in audio tracks. I'll show you guys click random. It shows. Ah, can't sign. But if you come down toe midi, the sign just changes, right? Yeah, So you can't use any MIDI FX in audio tracks you can use. Many affects only in many tracks. So that's the major difference that you can see in the interface off a built in life. So other than that, the basic function often audio track is to record audio samples, and recordings into a built in through a microphone are through the pre recorded samples. So I'll see you guys in the next video. 7. MIDI TRACKS: Hey, guys, in this video, we're going to look into muddy tracks. What I even mean by Moody. Many drugs process Mary files water MIDI files modifieds are just informations are instructions that help the able to and live software to trigger musical sounds are musical assets. It is just set off information. If you are an instrumentalist, you might know that whenever you play a piano, you will also use some pedals along with the trade, whether it is a sustained put a lot of hold pedal. So when are use, you use a pedal on record into a muddy track. What happens is it just not only records the cords on the notes or the melody along with it . It also records the shift off pedals on. It also records the envelopes along with it. So they're MIDI. Information is stored in the form off a MIDI file in a muddy track. So that is what this muddy track does. So what we're going to do is I'm going to connect my Medicaid boredom. Just a sec, and now we are going to place in courts. Look okay, let's start. Why have you didn't hear any sounds? It's because we don't have any instruments. That is Assane toe this muddy track. So the information came through the muddy track, but it wasn't recorded. Uh, we couldn't hear any self. It was recorded, but we couldn't hear any sounds because we don't have any instruments in many track. So, as I said, this is just an information. This is just information to trigger. It sounds MIDI files are Justin information to trigger it sound. So let's had an instrument. Um, let's go to sounds Let's ah, um a piano. Maybe, Um, that's sad. This, you know? Yeah. There it is. So now let's play this. I don't know which cards I played, but jealousy, uh, eso without this instrument called Grand Piano. These are just instructions to play or to trigger notes or to get sounds so that this on the instrument, you can hear musical notes. So I hope you understood water muddy trackers on how to are an instrument into a muddy track. You just dragon Drop it. That's it. On how to record midi into a muddy track. A spell. It's you guys A None of the 8. AUDIO FILES AND MIDI FILES: Hey guys, in this video, we're going to compare what is a medical upon what is an audio clip. So we have already gone through medic lips and audio clips on muddy tracks and audio tracks . But we are going to go a little bit in depth because if you are having any confusion about what is a medical upon orders and audio clip and how to use it, I think this video is going to clear everything for your guys and so that when you move on from this video on moving too much deeper things, you would have a better understanding off how things work in ableto. So first, we are going to look at this audio clip. So if you double click this audio clip, you have about some set of functions. We saw it in the previous video off audio clips. So if you close this on, if you double click on Midi, you'll see almost same similar. But about some functions are different, so this clip section is the same. But we have a llegado function which is extends the note on duplicate region, which is duplicates if you have two bars off north, just double gets into four, then you have looping function. Then you have start and end. You can just are just the, ah, sections that you need to be in the arrangement view. So this is this positions very or playing car service. So what can we do with the murder clip and what can we do with the audio clip? So the farm it often audio clip can differ if it depends on how you exported as a way file or is in an MBA tree file. But the former it off midi clip is always dart m i d has be solved before in the first video. When you say where your built in life said it saves us dot a less on when you save Ah, for the shop file, it'll save us dark BSD so similar to that when you save a midi file, uh, I think you can save it from here itself. Um, when you save a midi file, it will say was dot m i d. So that is the major difference off which file farmer they belong to. So I said before in the videos, this is just a really information are the information or the instruction to trigger on to modulate. Ah, the sounds that is in the particular Mideast trip, which is this track and in case of audio, audio, strip or audio track is just simply, ah, sound recorder or a sound player. All right. It's just like a sound player or the sound recorder that just place the sample that is recorded into it. Andi. It just plays whatever sound that has been recorded through microphone, and it allows you to add effects into the track on to manipulate on, send it to honor the return track and even manipulated right there as well. So that is the difference between a medic lip and an audio clip. So it is the major difference, like you can't expect the same results from an audio clip on a medical. The another thing that you can do is you can always change medical up into an audio clip. How do you do that? First, you have to assign a particular sound to this muddy track on. Then you can print it, or you can freeze and flatten it to another track, so I'll show you guys that first. So that's at a sound grand piano might take what it came here. So you're gonna So what? What this is I'll show you guys. This is so when you look into this audio track and many track you have this audio from it means, what is the input source? So what we're going to do is we are going to change. Stain puts those two grand piano. Okay, So this what is this morning? They're section mourn. Intersection means whether you want to hear the sound, what is playing in this particular track or not odd, which is being recorded in the truck or north. So audio to it is always master truck because you want to hear it through the master truck and, uh, recordings that are in this audio and the midi tracks as to be processed through it. So let's so what we have done this. We changed the door input from the microphone to this muddy track. So the information from the muddy track and goes to the audio track on what we are going to do is we're going to change this master to one. Nor do us well. No, they're going to pressed a button called chair So it moves on to the arrangement view. We're going to press right here for the Cosa, going to press this button. This word, which is the record button. You can't hear anything now, but you will hear something you can change your toe in and you can get You saw that, right? So it is being recorded. Andi, I'll see you guys in the next week. 9. MIDI EFFECTS AND AUDIO EFFECTS: Hey, guys, in this video, I'm going to talk about many effects on audio effects. What are the difference between each of them on? What do they do on How can we use them? So first, let's talk about our your effects. First, let's see war. What are the effects and how do you even use too many ableto? So the first thing that you got to know about effects means that it is just there to enhance things, just there to model it things. The source is the most powerful thing that you add in a bilton, no matter what it is, if it is clean. If you had some effects to it, then it will always shine through in your projects to put it into perspective. Let's take this is an example. You have a kid you're sending him to school is starting something there. He's coming back, and now you're making him to learn again. But this time there is a special care. You're assigning someone else who is an expert in it to make him learn. So what happens is he gets the source from the school, but it is getting enhanced at home through a teacher through someone who is taking special care or who is specialized in the particular aspect. For example, if the student has problem in math and in particular radia, then you can add. Then you can assign a teacher who will take it off their particular math problem. Similarly, if you have a source or an audience amble, that is too much noise in it. Then you can add a noise gate Oh, FX or VFX finding the problem and solving it Or if it is too subtle and you wanted to pop in the mix, then you can add things are had stuff to the audio tracks. So what do we do by midi? Midi affects samedi affects our modulating the midi information. Right? So already these are just informations. Andi, these do not include any sounds with it. But if you can even more relate these money information, I'm gonna add one. The one effect which is called up agitator and I'm gonna show you guys what did us I'm gonna turn off this audio track, gonna play this for you guys. Okay, We have a small trouble later. So in the last video, a few guys saw that I changed the option Export from Master do audio and that's why you didn't hear any audio. So change it to master. Now, if we play this, we will see more about the op agitator in the further coming closest. But I'm gonna show you guys a little bit. So it has a lot of presets that goes through the sample or the I mean, not the sample, the more the information that you have and it changes. And it triggers various notes according to the rate offset on gate or whatever. Ah, settings that you certain an apology later. So that's it. The many effects manipulate Amidi information that you have already which is being sent toe the instrument which is the grand piano in this case. So that is the major difference that you can see between audio effect on, um, on the many effects. Another one important thing is that you can't add media fixed to a audio track. I think I have showed you this before, but if you pull this ah pitch and if you take this to the midi track, it will be like it will show that boxy, simple and if you take it with audio track. Then you can't find that simple at all. So that is what I want to tell you guys. That muddy tracks I love you tried. How are your effects? For example, even our unique you three right here. But you can't add many affects to an audio track. So that's it, guys, for this video of this you guys in next. 10. RACKS AND PRESETS: Hey, guys, in this video, you're going to look at racks on presets. So what do I mean by presets? If you watched me closely when I was struggling through this all your effects and we have a small button right to strangle, pointing towards to die and make Cuba and every other a device. So if you click on it, it gives you a bunch off. Uh, you know, names on each one of them is a precept that is already there In a built in and thes breeze , IDs are just controls on Do they have set up instructions that control this particular device? So it is completely different from Iraq. Some dames I hear people saying that, you know, they say, insert preset, insert off Iraq. So I'll tell you as water Rackers. So just more to, er session written window using a tacky. And now you have this grand piano, right? So if you click on this grand piano, drag it towards the user library. No, What happens is you have the grand piano rate, you so it saves your strips audio strips. You can save this, especially. We already have audio awareness. So let me change this name. Ah, Mass. Plenty. Okay, so now click on it. Drag it. And if you drop on user library, we'll have that mass. Indeed. Our dear list, you can just save it right there. So? So let's delete this. If you click on this strip and if you click, delete genital daily track. Now click here, drag it and drop it. No, you guard it back so there can use this saving complete strips off a built in life. Ah, for example, if you are working on a project and you're thinking like, Oh, my God, I created this awesome sound. Andi, you're like, I want to save this. You can just save it right here. You can create a folder here, any conservative, and then after two or three weeks, you're working on another project, and you're like, you know what? I think the sound from that previous project will work perfectly right here. You don't need to open the previous project and browse through things and get the sounds and everything. You don't need to hustle toe, you know, work on the effects and get that sound back. All you got to do this, go to use a library, click on whichever strip that you were using and you can just drag it in. So another thing I want to show you guys is the difference between the icons that you can see here. So every instrument or a device is shown using this icon every effects is so using the same icon. But you can see a considerable difference when you come to the plug ins. RBST third party plug ins. It will be shown US V S T V S t. And as for the samples is concerned if it is an audio sample, you will see this kind off. Ah, this came this icon. But if it this Ah, Mehdi, I don't think I have any memory files here, but that's ticket up. Dog Medic. Yeah, I don't have any more defense right now, So that is the difference between Iraq and a preset. But that's not it. What a Bolton can do, it can do more, so I'll show you guys what able to can do more. So click your right leg. You'll see control G. What controls e You're not going to use this? We're gonna arrestable control Z and it adds this extra strip rate. Your right? Andi, it's kind of like a box. It ends here. And it has this, as you can see here, we haven't Apache ater a grand piano. You three. What? We're going to our does your going tired A velocity. So what velocity does is, um, it actually, um, decreases or increases force at which each notice played, or the volume in which each nor displayed, or however you play in your Medicare board. So as you can see here, you have the first effect register velocity and then you have the up agitator. So what are you going to do? Is we're going to press control Z. What is that? Controls e. Let's right. Click here. It shows this group so we're going to press control g again. It's gonna group the velocity. So now you have an additional strip right here on right here. So it's like it's like a box, right? So you're going to click on the Apache later going to drag it on. Drop it when you bring it near this velocity. Ah, you can see a strip. So just drop it right there. So now the Apache ater and this velocity these tools to things they're called this media fixed rate. So these two devices are right in this many effect. Iraqi can You saw the world, right? Iraq. So now we can save this is we'll just click on the save button and it will create amid Iraq in this user. Very You can just saved the name like, um, last day. Emily Iraq. Yeah, that's it. And let's let's check this out. Drag this into three money. Now you got your act back. So these other things you can do with mid Iraq on with the pre successful I hope you guys learn something from this video on now with you guys in the next. 11. SENDS RETURNS AND GROUPING: Hey, guys, in this video, we're going to look a sense returns on grouping. So first, let's look a sense. What are since, for example, you're having this muddy track, right? So let's record something into this muddy track during this, um, button on going to drag piano. It's drug. Yeah, an electric piano. Yeah, that's it. It's loaded. So now we have this piano. Rachel, we are going to the card Muddy notes into this. So, uh, pick the Talbot and changed to arrangement. View on now, Like this record button going to stop this. So now we have, ah, solid around six board loop off courts. Right? So if you toggle again back to ocean view what signs mean? Er's actually, it is just transferring. It is just trance sending the information. What a sense mean it is just transferring the information from a particular audience strip or a murdy strip toe under audience Super Ministry, for example. Uh, you're gonna transfer the information from this electric piano Mideast trip to an audio strip. So what are we gonna do? You're going to change the input. It is externally. No. We're going to change it. Toe electric piano soft and no, it is going again to the master, but we're going to change again. Audio too. Two Audio three. No, it is struck in. Which means the track has been drove. Did two audio three. So if we play something, if you turn this on yes, you can hear that, right? So that is what happened. So this is called sending. So where it issue stand, how do you use it to the first function? Or the first usage off the senses to to convert, maybe two audio. If you have a strip that this enmity or if you have some notes enmity. And if you want to convert them to audio, you can brought it and you can record it in another track, which is ascend, as you can see here. Now, this is struck in. Which means this is the same track. The next two. We are going to look at routing what I mean by routing. So routing in the sense you're using the return tracks we have never seen about this return tracks previously. So you're gonna Touchstone keep on this. So what are these return tracks? Where do they do so these return drugs process effects on a bunch of other controls. So when you have this electric piano, if you use thesis knobs, stand knobs and be let's play it again, you can see that just a sick, uh, you know, let's play it again. Us again. See, the information from the muddy track has been sent to the attorney Anderson Be. So what did they actually used for? It's simple. When you have four or five drugs with the same information or you're just doubling the locals or you're doing something and you need same affects on four or five tracks. What you do is you create American track and you wrote all all those informations, all those information from those trucks to a same return track so that you will have the same effect on all those trucks. You don't have to add the same affected needs truck. You just have to create a return track and wrote everything toe to the return trucks. So how do you create a new return drug when you are in certainly turned track, you will get a C. Now let's about this. Mm. You can see here the information comes right here, so The next thing I want to show you guys is it is just like the audio in the muddy tracks you can go to affects audio fix and add those already effects directly right into this. It 10 tracks. That's it, guys, it's so easy and simple. The next thing I wanted to show you guys is about grouping. What do I mean by grouping on how to access grouping the first click on this Are you one and all your control key on your keyboard On Click on this on audio three and maybe four. Now, if you know if you while holding the control keen on me if you press G, what happens is it becomes a group. You can edit the name, right? Like editor control law to edit on Can, um, gesturing a Metis group. Yeah. Oh, what is the? So what is the function of group? Andi? Why do we use groups If you have high heads and other elements off drums and you just wanna process it through a drum bus, you don't need toe make another midi track or audio track and send them there. All you gotta do is you just have to group them, and ideally, Madiba's so that all the information from all the I had had or anything Ah, that's in the I had had anything that's in the mix can be processed by the group tracks on . It is also a way to arrange Onda properly of your tracks. Also deserve a tow. Arrange your tracks. Onda. Have them in order so that you can understand how your the project has been going on. So sends to 10 tracks on groupings are some of the hidden feature. Is that usually when we start up, we'll get confused because we don't know why these buttons are here. Why these drop down menus are here. What do they do? And it's just too confusing when you look at things. But if you just, you know, take your time on, understand why each function is there, then it would be so easy for you guys. As you can see here it is just monitoring on and off on. This is very 1% from ah, which from which section the input is coming on. Where do you want a wrote it. That's it, Guys, for this video. I'll see you guys the next one 12. RECORDING MIDI AND AUDIO CLIPS: Hey, guys, in this video, we're going to look at how to record medical EPS on audio clips. So first thing you have to know about recording a medical Obrestad is your input midi keyboards. Are you American trolls is connected or not. So the first thing to check this just keep your hands on your medic e board and just press some keys. As you can see right here, you're seeing this yellow dots, which means that you're getting a MIDI input. You can also take that day looking at this section when you keep your hands on a medical board. And if you are pressing some keys, you can just see this blinking. Uh, l A notification. Okay, so it's more into how to record a minute clip. The first thing you have to do is tow. Add an instrument into the MIDI strip. We're going to add an instrument that's go to sounds, and I'm glad. Yeah, let's add that. Yeah, No, you can drag on. Drop it. Okay, now, still, I'm pressing some keys in keyboard, but I'm not getting any sounds. Why am I not getting any sounds? Because the arm Burton Sin turned on No, no, I'm getting sounds. So now how do we record before recording? You have to know seven things that are in the first panel or the first strip that is right up here. Let's look at the things that are here. So let's not dive so deep into it, but I'll give you a rundown off. What is there the tap jumbo? If you have been using Midi arranger keyboards, I mean arranger keyboards or workstation keyboards, you know that they will have a button called Tap Timbo. This is the same. If you tap this burden, then you'll get a temple. Andi. Similarly, this is your temple like you can click and drag up and down to change the timber. You can even type it in. Let's that state 1 40 Okay, The next is easiest time signature. You can just tape it and I'll change it then. This is your maternal. You can toggle it on and off if you want the maternal for one. But you can set it for our own body. Considered for two bars on. If you turn it on, let's turn it on For now, the war does this arrow box are this thing. What is this? So let's go toe the arrangement view. That is where this comes to work. So this button is for moving your So this button is for moving your Lakers served. Let me show you guys what did us? And now I'm gonna playing. As you can see, the closer it's moving from the start. As you can see, the arrangement view also starts to move along with it. If you turn this off, then it's to get self. So that is how this works. So if you could talk about this on, then it will more along with arrangement, view the cultural more long or if it is off, then it one more long to turn the metronome off guard to click this button again and you won't get any maternal. If you turn this on, we'll get the maternal. Ah, gig I stand again. You're gonna look at this party and this is called loop button on and off. When you click it on. Then you can see here the no function gets a little bit darker. No, I mean later. If you turn it on, then it goes back to the original color How do you even loop a particular area decorating the place? Very Want to start the loop? Click and drag till very one I ended. And then, after selecting the particular region, just click on control L and it will be looked on. The loop will be turned on to hear what you can see. It's where the looping starts and where the looping hands on this is the timeline off where the particular audio cause arisen are where the audio clip is going to start. When you hit play. This is your play button Stop on your record button. OK, now let's look at how to record many. It's fairly simple. You are. You gotta turn this. You gotta turn this now born, which means that this strip or this track collect electronic piano track is active so again , then go and click this button. Before that, let's give a maternal So let's turn on this maternal must feel. So now we will get a two bar count off metronome as we set it to two bars, and then after that it will start record being okay. That's good. So that's how you record, maybe, and you can get it. Maybe by double clicking it, you can change everything right here as we saw before the holder recording audio clip What is fairly simple and the dissimilar to first You got a click on this audio from and change it to external in when you do that? No, You're getting this, uh, input signal right in green color. It is simply me talk talking into the microphone, just actually being recorded by ah third parties after now we should turn this now born, which is Call me as you can hear the sounds. Right. So let's the goddess among testing, testing, testing, course testing. If you stop it, I'll turn this up. Okay? So if you stop it, then it gets stopped. And you got dogged us for Let's play this one's testing, testing, testing, course testing. Estadio is clean, and it's simple and good as well. So now you can do about it. I already yes. They said before you can do a bunch of things you can turn the gain on you can, you know, in the transience you can transpose it. Let's hear what it sounds after transposing testing, testing, testing, course besting. Yeah, you can do a lot of things with this on your track. So that's it, guys, for this video. I'll see you guys next one. 13. AUTOMATIONS AND ENVELOPES: Hey, guys, in this video, we're going to look at automation and envelopes. What do I mean, the automation on Where are we going to use it? So in a bilton, we are going to automate effects on, and sometimes you're going to automate even some controls and functions. So in order to do that, for example, if you are having a song on in a particular region, you just want the sound to be compressed are too echoey on. In that case, you might want to add some ethics, but you don't want that effect to be turned down throughout the song. But you just wanted to be turned on in the particular section where you wanted to happen. For example, already we have this audio audio clip, right? So I just want this last part, Toby echoey. So whatever. I do, um, goto audio effects. I'm gonna wear their co function iss. I'm gonna drag it. I'm gonna drop it in audio. It might take a few seconds. Yeah, and there it is. So now if I play this back again, the effort just throughout the clip. But I don't just want that How do we do it press a in your keyboard on. You'll get this nice, red dotted line when you move them out. Steward said it will become solid. So how did we do this? It's simple. If you see right here, you have none in the second track. But in this strike you have mixer see return. Just click this job. Don't menu and select Echo. No. In the second drop down menu, you have every function that is in the echo. For example, led Italy pitch. Very pitch feedback. Every function that is there is right here. So what we gonna do? We are going toe automate the drive it knob So very stood. Drive it knob. Let's find that night here. So I'm gonna say like this. Now we have the driver elaborate. You What I'm gonna do is I'm going to select right here, right here on right here, Going to keep under the door Trait year. I'm gonna click this on, drag it down until here. No, let's play this testing, Testing, testing course. As you can see, your never heard any It goes right in the section But when you automated and when you turn this on after this you've got, uh, Echo. Similarly, you can do a lot of automation in the clip. Says well, what I mean by clips. So this weeded in the arrangement drag section, you can do it inside the clips as well. Double click this. And if you go down yet there is a button. This is called an envelope. You click this right here. This is used to modulate the sound even more. And now you got to drop down boxes in the 1st 1 You have the clip selected in the 2nd 1 You have a lot off in will apps that you can use first, it's water volume modulation. What do I mean by all in moderation. The wallet must now said 200% but you can change the wall Him in between the clip, for example. I just need this first to to sound a little bit lower. I'm gonna drag it, and it's gonna gradually found lower. But I just wanted to be in a particular 11. I'm gonna gain and create a dot on and yeah, I know. Let's listen to this. Testing Chris course. So that's all the envelopes. Andi. The automation use Houston a Bilton. This can be used to modulate any effect, any kind of compression Or are you queueing? Anything? Any devices that are you add into enable turn life track you can modulate, Um, And in the envelope anything that you have can be more related. Enable to an automation. That's it for this video. Guys, I will see you in next one. 14. PREFERENCES: Hey, guys, in this video, we're going to look at preferences. Preferences is simply there settings just like it is in your phones. So let's go to options. And if you go down, we'll get this preferences control Place comma for opening it a short cut. So first you're going to look at look and feel toe. The basic preferences are the basic arrangement off Yuria Bilton. It's right here, so you have your language and your behavior, and your Suman displays your colors. Have you on their colors to be wanted to be mild, too dark. We just want to be so mild. Are you late? Live nine colors are just want my light. I always love the mild dark, the darkest tuition because the color at the other colors just popped more from the screen . It is just easy on the eyes can change the brightness and the color intensity as well. So this is what you find right in the look and feel. We go to audio. Here you have some off the important aspects that you will be mostly using. So the 1st 1 is Trevor type and drive a type changes according to which interface you're using. And, ah, if the particular interface as its own drivers, then you might be forced to use those trailers. I used years I would drive us, and now I am using the audio interface SA External third party wanted. Just call this voice meter, which will is I will to record the input that is coming into the able to in life softer. But if that is not happening, I'll be using my interface, which is assume you 22 years ago. Driver. So this input and output configuration it's also used to change whether we want to moan. Oh, are you want studio sounds that can also be said on the hardware set up is to change the sample size, whether it is 64 or 1 28 or which sample you want. Tom will say that the buffer saves you want, so things are amusing. Weiss meter ritual is I will. I can't actually change right now, But ah, if you want to change, you can select your interface and you can change those things. What does input Laysan militancy output. Layton, See an order latency mean on prophesized as well. So, while you're recording you might have the truth. Lower sample size are lower buffer size because you want the sound or the audio recording from the output to reach your a bilton light without any late and see. So then the buffered size is low. The Layton see gets even lower so that the audio recording that you're recording in two year built and will be right on track and right on time. When you're mixing, you can change the buffer size to higher number A. Spare your requirements because when the sample size is higher, it won't take a toll on your CPU, and the performance will be good. So then it is just text testing whether the sample size is good, good enough or not, the next we're going to link. Maybe so. This is where you will connect your control surfaces, and your Medicaid boards are many controllers. Whatever you have. So even, you know, since you're gonna connect them right here. So the first thing to do if you have a new medical door or connected and it is not connecting us to go here and select your controller if it is not less stirred. Goto, the particle of upside where they give the services for the drivers and download them, install them. And then if you go back again here you will find the control surfaces. I think they have every almost every medic e borders listed right here. Even the oxygen ones, Roland and yeah, mostly. Everything is right here. You can select them, and I have complete control is 49 it has been selected right here. The next is filing folder here. First thing is safe. Current set as default. What does this mean? So if you are always using four muddy tracks and four audio tracks whenever you are starting a project and you just want them to be right there when you open able to life, create four audio tracks, formerly tracks and the three return tracks if that is what you want. And after that, come here. And if you click save whenever you open your a built in life back again, it will be your default settings. So create analysts files? Yeah, This we don't have to Delmon to right now and temporary. Full grown. Yes, on This is an important section you might have to look into. That is plug in resources. So what is plugging sources is whenever you get 1/3 party plugging, you install it and then Everton will ask you to scan it so that it can be and I tear in this plug in section in Ah, the browser. A video the next. Let's going to library. Eso library is mostly the documents are the files that mostly involved with the factory presets and it is always in document. If you have saved it somewhere else, you can just choose. The place is right here. Then record warp and launch. What does thes things mean? These are very important because sometimes your dragon dropper video clip or a medical up inside a bilton on what would happen is you will see a little fared in the end on the beginning. So that happens because the fading will be turned on. Create fades on clipper justice will be turned on. We don't know if you don't want that, you can turn it off Then what will be war per standard out of what belong samples means if you turn the water more down, what it will do is it will turn the audio speed according to the temple that is already being set in the A button life presets. So if you don't want that to happen, you can turn that off. Then this licenses and yeah, that's it. That's it for the preferences, guys. And I will see you in the next video. 15. EXPORTING AUDIO: Hey, guys, In this video, we are going to look at how to export an able to in life. So it is fairly simple. You have created your project. You have completed recording things. You have input A Is it even a word? You have Gardez input from your Medicare board, and you have turned it to do an audio. But you just have the full song. All right, so now you just want toe turn it into Ah, they filed or you just worn exported with a simple click on file. Click on export All your video for this control shift, Our you click that you'll get a new strip. I'm gonna move it. Okay, so here there is a lot of things. So I will go through one by one. The rendered drug. It's simply which audio signal do you want to render? Whether it is master signal are all individual tracks or you just want a particular track. Toby rendered out us Ah, MBA tree or even a survey file. So let's keep it, master. Then render lent out the rendered start. And it started Just where the closer has to start. Rendering on the length is not the end off the track. It isjust ho multi bars. You just want to gender, then rendering options includes loop. If you want to convert it to Morneau from studio, you can do that can normalize things, been created. Analysis, violence will. And then this is where you change your form. It file former. So if you want a f of f l A g filet, see? Yeah. Sorry. If you want to change that, you can do that right here. Then if your MP three in 3 20 former, then you can't do it here as well. So these are some functions that are available in exporting off audio and video enabled in life. And then you'll hit. Let's like this. And when you hit export, it will just show you very want to export. Like you can change the file names and you can export it as well. Yeah, that's it for this video. Guys. Siles Here, guys and next one 16. PROJECT: Hey, I hope you learned something from this goes and you're invested something in this course. But this is project time. So what I want you guys to do is to create a MIDI clip on audio clip and I had affects to it. Do some automation is to the clip on. Then I want you guys to bounce it. What do what do I mean by bones? I mean, export the audio sample or the medical IP and just uploaded to the project section in skill share because unless and until you do this practically like you create a medical. If you create audio clip, you add some sounds to the track and you just experiment with it. It is hard toe. Keep every information right on your mind because Everton sometimes seems intimidating when you first to start in. And when you go inside and trade to understand things, so do this project. Create a medical up on audio clip and just it doesn't have to be provisional. Just play some cards on did play some, you know, notes and then create some audio clips s will and just export it. Andi Summer did in Project section. I'll take a look at it as well and have fun making music
