1. INTRO VIDEO: welcome to the course. In this age of computers, there has never been a time where English had a more prominent role in our daily lives. Being familiar with specializations, such as teaching young learners and business professionals, is quite useful when you start teaching real students, meaning language Centers around the world have a mix of students, depending on time and day. For example, weekday mornings you would often teach older students, and many of them are business professionals, whereas if you were to work early weekend mornings, you most likely only teach young learners. In this course, you will learn how to satisfy the educational needs of both groups. 2. TEFL methodes and approaches: this module will provide you with the descriptions of basic principles and procedures of widely accepted and commonly used approaches and methods for teaching a foreign or second language. You'll also learn the different ways you can manage your classroom for amore active and effective delivery of your lessons. There are numerous methods and approaches being implemented for teaching a second or foreign language. A myriad of factors are to be considered when choosing which method to use. Some of those factors have been discussed in module one. Student readiness, teaching and learning styles, learner levels, etcetera off some methods arm or favored than others. Many professionals are keen on improving not only their English skills, but also want to develop a range of communicative skills in order to be able to perform their job related tasks better. Thus, more and more teachers are needed to provide English training. Thus, learning English for them can be very daunting, and demanding your job is to make it feel less like a demand and more like an exciting and enthusiastic learning experience. For them, Children are very different from adults and are certainly different from each other. This makes handling young students a complex task for teachers. There's some characteristics you should know about them. Children have a very short attention span and can easily get bored. Once you've lost their attention, it might be difficult to get it back, make sure that you have their full attention before starting your class. Children prefer to move a lot, otherwise they get bored and sleepy. Yes, unlike adults, Children have not developed a feeling of self consciousness or shame. They will be willing to do whatever you want them to most of the time. Take advantage of these characteristics when you do activities like role playing monologues . Group works, etcetera, in relation to having a short attention span and being very active. Children enjoy playing. Utilize this by incorporating lessons into your games. Not only will you grab your students attention, but they will also love you for playing with them. It's an innate habit for young Children to mimic the things they see and the sounds they hear. Children have imaginative and creative minds.
