About This Class

Do you want to learn how to make Stickers for your own use, to share with friends or even to sell?

In this class, we will learn how to make Die Cut Stickers. Die Cut Stickers are stickers that are cut around the shape of the artwork which is also known as custom shaped stickers. We will cut our stickers on the Cricut Joy.

So why Cricut Joy? Cricut Joy is only 8x4x4 inches which really fits well in my small working space. Also, it’s less expensive than the other cutting machines. I didn’t really want to put more money on a machine that I won’t probably manage to use as I’m not tech savvy. But I figured out the Cricut Joy and in this class, I will share with you how to make Die Cut Stickers. We will design Kawaii snacks stickers on Procreate, set them up on the Cricut Design Space for printing and cut them on the Cricut Joy. I think it will be fun!

You can also check out my previous class on Creating Your Own Stickers on Cricut Joy and Procreate if you also want to make sticker sheets.

I really hope to see you in class!

1. Introduction : Hi, I'm Melinda decline and I'm an illustrator and an intrapreneur from Helsinki. I've been making stickers for as long as you remember, from drawing directly on one labeled papers, illustrating on my iPad, printing them out than cutting them by hand. But now I have a cricket char which makes sticker making more fun, relaxing, and even addicting. So why cricket Choi, cricket joy is only eight by four by 4 " in size, which really fits well in my small working space. Also, I didn't want to put more money on a cutter that I would probably not managed to use because I'm not tech savvy. But I was able to figure out cricket Choi. And in this class, I will share with you how to create die cut stickers. The set of stickers that we will be designing will be Kawhi snacks. We will design our stickers on Procreate, then send them to the cricket design space to have them printed and cutting them on the cricket join. We would need an iPad and Apple pen or any stylus if you have the Procreate app and a cricket design space, we would then of course use the crickets joy, and a four-and-a-half by 6.5 " man. Also would need printable sticker paper, a printer, a cutter, or scissors. By the end of this class, you will have dicot stickers that are truly Hawaii and something that you have designed yourself. You can also check out my previous class in creating stickers on cricket Choi and procreate. If you would also want to make sticker sheets. I really hope to see you in class. 2. Class Project: For the class project, we will be creating die cut Hawaii smack stickers. By cut stickers or stickers that are cut around the shape of the artwork, which is also known as custom shapes stickers. The set of stickers that we will be designing will be Kawhi snacks. We will design our stickers on Procreate, then send our sticker designs to the cricket design space. You have them printed and cut. We would need an iPad and Apple pen or any stylus that you have. The Procreate app and the cricket design space. We would of course need the cricket joy and a four-and-a-half by 6.5 " map. Also a printable secret paper, a printer, and a cutter or scissors. I really like working on a four-and-a-half by 6.5 " smart as it allows me to print more stickers on an A4 sticker paper. Let's get started. 3. Kawaii: Since we're drawing Hawaii snacks, let's look at the basic style of gouache. Drawing. Characters have cute eyes and Smiley faces. Usually the eyes and the mouth are close to each other. The more rounder they are, the third day become. So avoid sharp edges. Use bustle colors for a more Hawaii look. I suggest to create the color palette before starting your project. Also add some elements like stars or confetti. You can download my confetti brush from the class resources section. 4. Drawing Kawaii Snacks: Now it's time to draw Hawaii snacks. Let's open Procreate, hit the plus sign and let's create our canvas. I will set it at 15 by 15 " or 300 DPI for good quality printing, hit Create. Now we can start drawing. I will be using the ink bleed pen from the inking section of the brush library. I will set the pen size to 101st. Let's create a face that we will use for all our Hawaii snacks. Using the same base, we have a consistent look. You can draw different Hawaii phases until you find the one that you really like. Now let's open another layer. I'll be setting my pen to size 35. Let's draw an ice cream. When drawing Hawaii snacks start with the shape as drawing a really just about shapes. Go to the sharp edges and just round them up a bit. Remember that when you hold your pen in place, it will create a straight line. Also, it will create a nice curve shape. Now let's activate the Alpha lock for some confetti to add another element of cuteness. I suggest to draw six to eight drawings depending on the size that you are going for. I always suggest to draw each snack on different layers. Let's draw some more. I've added tumor snacks to have a total of six Hawaii snacks. You can look at my illustrations again from the previous video for inspiration. But also remember that inspiration is everywhere. You can find different snacks and turn them into Hawaii snacks. When you have done all your drawing, Let's name this file. Hawaii snacks. 5. Setting Up Stickers: Now let's set up our stickers. Let's create another canvas. I will set it at four by 6 " or 300 dpi. Hit Create. Now we will upload all the stickers from the Hawaii snacks file to this canvas. Is the copy and paste process. Copy the layer than face it by swiping three fingers. Continue doing this until you have all your stickers uploaded to this Canvas. We will then arrange the stickers to have enough space between the stickers and around the stickers as we will be putting the offset around them later. Put all the stickers in one layer by pinching them together. Removed the background, then save this file as PNG and send it to the cricket design space. 6. Preparing Guide: So here we are on the cricket design space. First, we will prepare the guide for cutting. So let's start a new project. Let's go to shape. Select square, then set it to four by 6 ". Then select and duplicate. Let's change the color of this layer so that we can see better what we are doing. Adjust the size of this layer to create the border of the guide. Place it. Select, then align and center. Select, slice. Then unselect the layers except for the transparent layers. Select them positioned to zero. Select them set operation to draw and pen. Then make it follow me in this process. Then take the four-and-a-half and 6.5 " smart. We are going to draw on the map to help with the cutting of stickers. Be sure to change the blade to Penn. Then click, go and load. And now we have a guide where we will place our stickers, spark cutting. 7. Printing Stickers: So now we will upload the stickers. Follow me in this process. Let's add the offset. Select stickers, click Offset. I can choose how thick the offset would be. You can change the color of the offset d are choosing. Select both layers, then attach. Place this thicker layer on a guide. Select all, then attach and duplicate. We are duplicating so that we can print two sheets on an A4 sticker paper. Select all ten position to zero. Since the cricket joy doesn't have the ability to print it cut. We will change the setting to make her Select All, then set it to print and cut. Make it continuous center printer. Be sure that your printer has the right setting. E.g. if you're printing on a glossy stick your paper, then set the printer to print glossy paper and select the Add bleed, then print. Now we have two sheets of stickers. Let's cut the sheet. Be sure not to cut the guide out. Place one on the mat, placing it exactly on the guy. 8. Cutting Stickers: Now it's time to cut our stickers. Let's go back to our canvas by clicking Cancel. Select both the sticker sheets than detached. Since we can only cut one sticker sheet at a time, Let's delete the other sticker sheet by selecting it, then Delete. Now let's go back to cricket joy. Then unselect the stickers, but leave the offset and the guide. Select all, then change the operation to Basic Guide. Then make it chews on math. Check that the map size is correct, then continue. But the base material, I will use medium card stock. This will depend on the thickness of your sticker paper. Then I will set the pressure to more as we are making die cut stickers. Now let's change the pen to blame. Load the math with the sticker sheet on it, then go and load, and now it's ready. Now we have created Hawaii snack die cut stickers. I think they're truly Hawaii. 9. Thank You: Thank you for joining me in this class. I hope you enjoy designing Kawhi snack stickers. And you have learned something about the process of making dicots stickers. Please don't forget to snap a photo of your stickers and post them in the class resources section. Bye for now and see you again soon.
